Hello and welcome to pop Culture Weekly with Kyle McMahon. I,
of course am Kyle McMahon, and I thank you once
again for hanging out with me for another episode. This
episode is all about our favorite Christmas movies. And you know,
I've done this episode a couple of times and it changes,
you know.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
From year to year.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
It's like, oh my god, these are my favorite Christmas movies,
and it's always interesting to get somebody else's take on
what their.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Favorite Christmas movies are. We're also going to do our
worst favorite, are most hated?
Speaker 1 (01:01):
And in any event, Joining me once again is Amanda Bias.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
How are you, Amanda?
Speaker 4 (01:06):
I'm good? How are you?
Speaker 2 (01:07):
I'm doing good? Thank you for joining me again.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Thank you for having me.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Of course, it's always fun having you. That sounded so weird,
but oh my god, it's always fun when you're on
the show.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
I know what you mean.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Thank you. Yeah. Anyway, so today it's all about our.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Favorite Christmas movies. I've done this episode or something similar
a few times. But I did notice, just like my
list of favorite movies, like a number of them change
throughout time. So like I might say, you know, Lord
of the Rings is my favorite even though that's six movies,
(01:46):
Lord of the Rings is my favorite movie. Yeah, next
year that might be number two.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
I think everybody goes through that.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah yeah, but it's always like, for the most part,
the top ten is always i'd say seven of them
are always in there in some number, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
So what are you are you? Are you excited for Christmas?
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Sure? I know I'm not. Wait what I don't?
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Why not?
Speaker 4 (02:10):
I'm not a big Christmas person honestly, And I feel
like I'm obligated to say that, yes, I'm excited for Christmas,
but deep down inside, I'm not a Christmas person at all.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Why did I just feel like.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
When you were a child, yeah, drop kick me and everything.
I just feel like ever since I was a child,
which you know, ironic, but ever since I was a child,
I just did not like the hustle and bustle of Christmas,
Like if the hustle and bustle of Christmas just pisses
me off. And I feel like everyone is so fake
around the holidays because everyone's complaining that they put the
(02:45):
Christmas lights up, the Christmas She's gotta go up, they
gotta get presents, and everyone just sounds so miserable, and
I'm like, guys, chill out, like I know, this is tradition,
this is whatever, but no one's happy. Like when you
really think about it, no one happy. Like nobody nowadays
really you know, likes their family. Oh wait, what Well,
(03:08):
I feel like, okay, listen, I feel like we all
have issues with our families that during the holidays, all
you hear about tummy Kyle. You rarely hear about Yeah,
my family was over and it was amazing. There was
not one fight. All. You never hear that we all
got along, or when you do, it's very rare.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
I feel like my family gatherings are like that.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
My god, Well, maybe I'm just part of a dysfunction,
but I don't know. I just feel like for me
and my circle of friends and like the people that
I talk to, I just don't get the Christmas spirit.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Yeah, no, I get that. And here's the other thing.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
You know, we've in my family have had a lot
of loss over the last few years. So I think
it's a little bit different for us because it's like
we're cherishing every moment because we've had such immense law.
You know, we've lost you know, three major loved ones
and you know, my mom, my mom, mom, and my
uncle in three years. So it's like I think we
(04:09):
my family in particular, views it a little different right
now because it's like, oh my god, who's next. You know,
we're like getting smaller and smaller, so it's like we
want to cherish those moments. But I totally understand what
you are saying, especially with like the hustle and bustle,
because it's freaking stressful.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
It is stressful, and it just freaks me out. Like
I just feel like I can't go into the mall
or it can't shop. I just feel like everyone's on
this holiday mode and they don't take into consideration other
people's feelings and they're just very impatient, and I just
do not like the people. The people is what makes
me dislike the time of year. It's not the actual
(04:50):
like Christmas lights, and it's not like you know, the food,
it's just the people in the attitude. Like everyone can
sense a shift in the in society when December first hits,
and it's like it's not in my cases that I've noticed.
It's not a good one because everybody's just so impatient
and everyone's just so anxious and stress rightfully so because
(05:11):
they're trying to do all these things I want, and
it's just disheartening to hear people just talk about how
miserable they are, and I'm just you.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Know, everybody's just like in a rash in their own
zone kind of I don't want to say selfish, but
like no selfish, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
Very like the holiday itself is not what you know
makes me, you know, you know what I mean. But
it's just I just don't like this time of year
because I just feel like there's no authenticity with people
because they're just so focused on themselves. And like, you know,
by all means you can do that, but people their attitudes.
(05:49):
You know, when you put the attitude on me and
people around you when you're out and about, that's what
I have a problem. I'm like, listen, Jeef, like what
are you talking about right now? Like I understand little
JOHNI needs to little present. Yeah, but you have no
right to yell at this target worker who gets paid
a whack weight, who just trying to do their job,
you know what I mean? Yeah, and not everyone's like
(06:10):
that and I know that, but I just don't. I
just do not.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Yeah, And it starts for me with what you're saying.
It starts on Black Friday. Oh yes, you know what
I mean? Or sure I went. I made the mistake
and I didn't even realize it was. But so I
used to go Black Friday shopping. I would like go out,
you know, at midnight, blah blah blah, and do the
whole thing. And now I'm just like why because I
would always end up buying way too much stuff, and
(06:36):
then literally that weekend I would return half of it
because I would.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Get in that oh my god, this TV for four
hundred dollars, one thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
So I'd buy all this stuff that I didn't need
and I'm like, half of it's for me, which it
wasn't what I was shopping for anyway. And then like,
I don't even need any of this stuff, why am
I buying it? So I would literally spend the weekend
and now there's giant lines, so I would spend that
the Black Friday weekend like in lines at places, returning
all the stuff that. So anyway, I made the mistake
(07:07):
this year of going with my boy Zach.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Shout out to Zach.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Singer came over to help me with something and then
like we were going to get lunch or something, and
we went to the mall not even thinking like it's
Black Friday. Yeah, And like once we got into the
line of cars to get in one of the entrances
to the giant complex of the mall, I was like, wow,
there's a lot of people, but it still didn't dawn
(07:31):
on me like Black Friday.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Once we got to the actual mall, like outside, and
there were zero parking lots and you know there's probably
ten thousand parking lots at that mall, zero parking spots.
I'm like, oh god, it's Black Friday. I'm like, we're
going to get lunch at the mall on Black Friday.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Like that's so dumb.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
And what started happening was to try to get back out,
everybody's like honking at you. I'm like, bro, I can't
there's seventeen cars in front of me. I can't go anywhere.
Where are you honking at me?
Speaker 4 (08:01):
Exactly?
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (08:03):
And then it stresses me out and I'm like, I
wasn't even in stressed before.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Now I am you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (08:08):
And everything is just delayed because you know, shout out
to the postal service people, but like they have to
work over time, so then the male is more likely
to get lost and packages are delayed that you genuinely need.
Not even thinking about Christmas, and I'm just like, this
is just terrible.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Like then you have the porch pirates and all that.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
Yes, and sometimes it's not even a present. It's just
like something that for my dog or whatever, like dog food.
You know, it's I don't even know. It's just I'm
not like a hater, but when it comes to the holidays,
I just do not feel any joy that they're promoting
(08:45):
that they're promoting. And you know, maybe it's because of
where I am or you know, who I associate myself with,
But when I go out in public and try to
do things, I'm just I hear skimming in the background
and I hear, you know, just honking like you said,
and it's like, oh my goodness, I don't even want
to go out. I want to go out.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Damn. I want to cancel Christmas now. No, no, I
don't merry Christmas. Everybody. Thanks for listening. Yeah you know what?
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Yeah, all right, well that was a great intro to
our Christmas episode.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Oh my god, you should put this at the end.
Or I mean, like, now that we've expressed our love
for these Christmas movies, we actually hate it or I
actually hate it.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Do you have any cool Christmas traditions that you do?
Speaker 4 (09:36):
I don't have nothing, really nothing. I don't have anything.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
You don't like do something? Have something you do every year?
Speaker 4 (09:42):
No?
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Just watch movies, like with your family or anything. No,
you guys have Christmas dinner or lunch.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Or breakfast or no?
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Wait really yeah?
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Do you not have a place to go you can
come to mind?
Speaker 4 (09:58):
What? Like? No, I have a house.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
No. I didn't mean like you're homeless.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
I mean like, do you have like a place to
go have Christmas dinner or something.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
No, Well, you're welcome to my house if you want.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
I'm having a thank you.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
It's white people food that I'm just telling you that
now because I, uh.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
You know, I'm not a cook, so it is basic
well like mac and cheese. Well, yeah, we'll do they
want me to. I'm like, I'm like, you want me
to cook a turkey?
Speaker 4 (10:29):
That's a that's a bit on the expert side.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Yeah, so I don't know how this is going to
turn out, but but we'll dore like turkey and all that.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Kind of stuff. But what about like Christmas morning? Do
you guys exchange gifts?
Speaker 4 (10:40):
No?
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Wait, are you serious?
Speaker 4 (10:43):
I am serious? I mean, okay, listen. I come from
an immigrant family. Yeah, so you know, I don't expect
anything from them and vice versa, and so it's like
they work hard and they don't have to show that
to me on Christmas. And I've known that since I
(11:04):
was like and I take care of them throughout the
year too, So I feel like when I was younger,
we didn't have the time to really focus on Christmas
because my parents were working vigorously to you know, help
maintain me and themselves. So the holidays didn't really have
(11:24):
an impact on me because they were just like every
other day, and I honestly wasn't sad about it as
a kid because I don't know, I saw how hard
my mom and I were working, and I was very
grateful for it, but I just, I honestly was not.
I didn't take it any type of way as a child,
and I still don't to this day. And you know,
I'm glad that my parents didn't do it, actually, because
(11:45):
then they would have been really stressed. But as I
got older, it became that they were like, you're not
a kid anymore, so we're not even going to try anything.
And I was like, Okay, I get it, Like I'm
not upset about it, but I don't have anything like
that I do with them. And I'm also only child,
so it's like, I don't it sounds sad, but I
(12:05):
swear I'm fine.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Well, I mean, I think the other thing is because
were your parents.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Are you first generation?
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Yeah, so your parents literally were working and or working,
you know, but especially with you as a baby, Amanda working.
Their essentially gift to you was survival at being in
a you know, a stable home and all that stuff,
because that's what they had to do just to establish
(12:33):
themselves here. So you had a good place to live,
a roof over your head all that stuff, So that really.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Is the gift, yeah, you know what I mean, their
gift to you.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
So and I also feel like that's the reason why
I'm not like so nostalgic over Christmas, because I just
think that I've experienced it a little differently than you
know a lot of the people that I know. And
I think that that's why I don't take to heart,
you know, when I say I don't like Christmas or
I'm not a Christmas person. And of course I feel
a little bit weird because everyone is a writer or
(13:02):
die for Christmas, it seems like, but I just think
of it as another holiday. But that's because of my
life experiences and how I was raised. So I respect
what other people you know, say and how they feel
because I know kids who or I know people who
were kids and Christmas was the biggest thing for them
and it was a time where friend they got together
and they cherished that because they didn't see them. So
it's like I shout out to you, like I love
(13:24):
you for I love that for you, you know. But
as for me and my household, we ain't do none
of that. But it's not like it was fine though,
Like that's what worked, Like my parents instead took me
to like Disney, you know, for like a year, they'll
took me to like Universal, So it's like yeah. So
it's like they worked hard and they like gave me
presents throughout the year that were like big ones. Yeah,
(13:47):
and it's like by the time Christmas came, I was like,
as a child, I was satisfied, you know, I was like, Okay,
I don't got all presents. That's fine. I'm in Florida
right now, you know what I mean. But so yeah,
I think that's I don't have any traditions. I don't
have anything, but I don't feel like I need them.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Yeah. Well I also feel like soul now because I'm like, what,
you don't do anything.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
I get it came over from you know, to America,
and basically their Christmas present was my survival.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Thank you, Kyle. I'm such a no like.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
I get it, though, Like I do not think it's
a heart. I really don't. Like I understand everyone's life
is different, like their experiences, so it's like I would
feel trash talking about Christmas to like, you know, one
of those less fortunate kids that isn't like a third
world country, right you know. So it's like I'm very grateful,
you know that I get to experience just this, you know,
(14:42):
this peaceful you know, world that we live in are
not really peaceful, but like you know what I mean
compared to what the world is going through some parts,
but I just feel like I'm fine and I'm surviving. Yeah,
and I'm here.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Well, you are welcome to come over on Christmas if
you wants. We'll have plenty of white people food for
you and bring your own sauce.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
Bye not the sun.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
And I mean that you absolutely are.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
And if you want to bring your cousin slash sister,
you guys are more than welcome.
Speaker 4 (15:15):
Oh my god, thank you of.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
Course, because that's what Christmas is about for me, you know,
my mom and dad, but especially my mom and my
whole family.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
Christmas is always a production. And I don't mean that
in a bad way.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
I mean, like, so I would wake up and we
would do presents, and my mom always overdid it.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Just because that's how she was.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
We would open presents and then she would make like
a Christmas like breakfast, and then my Aunt Kathy and
like whoever would come over for like Christmas breakfast and
we would all do presents. Then you know, everybody would
go back home, and then my mom would have Christmas
dinner where everybody came in over cool. So yeah, so
(15:57):
it was like really cool tradition and and it's something
that I love. And now that my mom passed, I'm
holding Christmas dinner.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
At my house.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
And so my house, our house was always filled with everybody, neighbors, friends,
blah blah blah.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
It was like, Oh, you don't have a place to go,
You're coming to our house, you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (16:16):
Like a community centers.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Yeah, exactly, And that's how I want my house to be.
You know, somebody I invited a relative and they were like, oh,
well I might go to my aunts or whatever because
she doesn't have anywhere to go. I'm like, then bring
your aunt to my house.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
Like what you know what I mean? Yeah, Like, no,
there's never for me at my house.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
There's always a seat at the table, not literally because
the table only seats for but there's a seat. There's
a seat in my house for you. Yeah. And food,
Like I would rather have way too much food and
everybody takes some home then not enough. So that is
what ultimately I learned from my mom and my grandmother,
(16:59):
My mom and my grandma, and and you know, my family.
My entire family has always been like that. So that's
what Christmas especially means to me. It's like, not just
like I love giving gifts, but I also love sharing.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Time with people I love, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Yeah? So anyway, well now I feel like why because
I'm Chris, was in your life, but it reminds me
of my family, and I'm like, well.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
No, The thing is it is. What we're both showing
is that it is individual. Yeah, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
It is based on These are based on my experiences
growing up in my worldview. Yours are based on your
experiences and your worldview.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
That's why you know we have.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Two different views on it because we came from two
different backgrounds on it. Yeah, and that's cool though, I mean,
you know sos different.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
Thank you? That was the word I was looking for.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
Why Why?
Speaker 1 (18:00):
So all right, so we have to explain to you guys.
We have to explain to you listening that we got
called for a lunch.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Here at the station.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
So we went to lunch and explained this. We went
to lunch and it was a client lunch and we
love St Anne's Grill. Shout out to St Anne's Grill
and Delaware Great Food.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
And they have a very special drink venu.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
Oh yes they do. It's very special. Indeed.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
I got the sugar cookie Margarita.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
You got the cremberlet cremble Martini Martini.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
That's w I met Martini, Yes, Martini.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
Something about that Martini Martini.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
I don't know why I'm writing with that. I just
wrote it in my.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
TV. I mean exceptional, mine had it did. I was jealous.
I was jealous over that I got mine, and I
(19:23):
was like, where's my freaking fancy stuff. Just put some
grated sugar on and I was like, oh no, I
wanted designed, but I didn't want to be that Karen.
But I was kind of disappointed. It was still so
freaking delicious though.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Did it taste like cumberlet?
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Oh yeah, it tasted so good, so good. I was like, yeah,
I won the sugar so bad. But I knew. I
knew he had a dubacco drafter and I was like,
I'm not gonna do that. I'm glad. Okay, oh boy, okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
So suffice to say we may sound different than.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
We did before you don't comment on it. We know,
you know, we know, Okay.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
We just wanted to get the elephant out of the
room or whatever.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
Because we are.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
How are they all quiet and like normal the last
segment and now they.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
Crashed out so bad. At my table, I was so quiet,
like locking in. I was like, oh my god, I
feel it. Well.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
What's funny is like I was trying to like sip
throughout the meal, so I was like pacing myself. But
then at the end, like there was so much left
in my cop that I had to drink it all
really quick. And that was the wrong decision too.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
So No, I chowed that thing down like with a
five minutes, and I thought like, if I drink it
fast enough, it will wear off by time I go
back to the studio. No, that thing, I don't even
know what it was there.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
It was very strong, good, very very strong.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
I was like Jesus Christ, speaking of.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Jesus Christ, this is the Christmas episode. Thank you for
that lovely introduction.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Oh my god, oh my god, my stomach's gonna be
like yo, yeah, don't come back, don't come.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
Back here or come back every day one or the other.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Oh yeah, maybe we should do Pop Culture weekly drunk
every week.
Speaker 4 (22:03):
I'm not opposed to that.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
It's like more fun.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
We should get an uber next time we did, Yes,
we did. That's how drunk I am. Remember the uber.
Oh my god, shout out the whole day. Thank you
Hodany for driving us.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
His name was Jim. Oh boy.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
All right, okay, Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Twenty minutes of this, Oh my god. Okay, all right, So,
welcome to the Christmas segment.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
Welcome to the Christmas segment. Trying to be supportive. I'm
trying to be supporting it. Welcome to the Christmas segment. Everybody,
Oh my god?
Speaker 2 (23:04):
All right? Should we take a break for a second?
Speaker 4 (23:07):
I think so.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Okay, let's take a break. Okay. So we've taken a
little break and just to give.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Ourselves more time to cool down. Yes, and you've got
some water. I got some coke cherry zero. You have
four cups. I don't know why, but that's okay.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
It's perfectly fun.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Okay, okay.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
So, speaking of Jesus Christ, it is the Christmas. We're
going to get through this, Yes we are.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
I have all the faith in the world, all right.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
All right, So the episode is about our.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
Favorite Chris, our favorite Christmas movies?
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Yes, okay, all right, I'm fine, okay, okay. So Christmas
movies come every year, just like Santa. Yes, they do,
(24:34):
and some of them are beloveds classics. I'm so sorry
for you to listen to this. We did not mean
to drink crimberlet and sugar cookie martinis at the work
lunch and then have to work. I thought, you know,
(24:58):
you could have an adult during cannot be trash, but
clearly we're lightly Yeah in any event, So.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
What is your favorite Christmas movie?
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Yes, let's start with your one of them.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
I'm gonna say the classic Home Alone.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Home Alone is such a classic Christmas movie.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
I feel like that's everyone's favorite Christmas movie, as it
should be because it's one of the best.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
How about Home Alone too?
Speaker 4 (25:31):
I love that one equally just as much.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
Yeah, me too, And that's rare for a sequel to like.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
Extremely rare.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Yeah, And I love.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
That it's in New York, and I feel almost that
one's even more Christmasy.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Than Honestly Alone, I love New York.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Yeah, so it's like, yeah, I love that.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
So I grew up with Home Alone, same, and I
used to watch it all the time, not even during
Christmas time sometimes, like it's just a movie that I
feel like, yes, it's geared to Christmas, but you can
watch it whenever you want. It's a funny movie.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
I love Marv and Harry. Yes, they're so funny, and
I just think that watching them as an adult, like now,
it's just even funnier because you're, like, dude, especially the
second one where they just got a what prison, Yeah,
and it's like they're just still doing the most bizarre
(26:23):
stuff and it's just, oh, I don't even know. I
just love Home Alone. I love the whole entire storyline,
and it's just so funny to me.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Yeah, it's interesting they never made a third because like
the second one was equally successful, so like why not
make a third? I mean, now, now it'd have to
be like it'd be interesting to have him as like
a forty five year old or however old he is now,
like being home alone and Marv and Harry come back
or like find him.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
What, Like are they like in nursing homes by the.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Just because they're like in their seventies or something.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
Could you imagine a seven year old like Burker?
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Why not?
Speaker 4 (27:05):
I mean they're gonna bring a hip gig into the window.
I mean, did you see how much damage they went through?
And the first and second one that's true. Once the
fir had been gone one fault, the credits come in.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
Maybe it's their sons.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
Well that now we're talking. Now we're talking their Wait,
it could be Kevin's son, and Kevin leaves his son
home alone by accident.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
True, but I feel like Kevin has so much trauma
from being left twice by his own.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
Parents, and he'll do like a Lori strode.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
Michael, So he's gonna murder the family.
Speaker 4 (27:51):
Talk about you know how Laurie was prepared for Michael
and Halloween twenty eighteen, Yes, and how she was like
this assassin type lady like Kevin could be that.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Oh that's true, right, Yeah, he could be training the
last like twenty years.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
Yes, and they show up in their like dementia. They're
only seventy Jesus, isn't that when that kind of stuff starts.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
I don't know, but I feel like that's like Shaer
and Dolly partner, like in their seventies, they still go
on tour and stuff.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
That's true, but I don't know, but I'm talking about
regular people, normal people.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Right, Yes, I don't know, but anyway, yes, I think
that'll be a cool plot. So Home Alone makers, you know,
you can have that for free. I think one of mine.
Actually Home Alone and Home Alone two were on my list,
but one of mine would be The Santa Claus with
Tim Hallan Allen, I mean Alan Tim Allen. That is
(28:56):
such a classic movie. It's like one that I grew
up with. It's fun, it's like heartwarming, it's Christmas Eve,
It's just like all the Christmas things. And that's one
that I try to watch every year.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Yeah, I do like that one.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
There's are your thoughts?
Speaker 4 (29:12):
That's it. I'm trying. Well, I never watched it.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Oh you seen it?
Speaker 4 (29:17):
No, I never watched it.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Why didn't you say that?
Speaker 4 (29:20):
Okay, Like I've never watched the movie. But it's that
thing where it's like I know the whole plot. Yeah,
I've seen so many scenes from it. Yeah that it's like,
even though I've never sat there and watched it front
to back, I know basically everything that happens.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
So it's like I do like it, but I feel
like since I haven't watched it, I don't count to
like voice my opinion. Watched it, but I like the
one with Jack Frost in it.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Oh, I think that's part three.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
I love that one. Now that's one that I did watch.
You've yeah, I don't think i've seen like the first one, okay,
but I love the Jack Frost one where he's in
it because I used to be you know, never mind
nothing nothing nothing, nothing, nothing nothing. I don't even know
(30:07):
that nothing nothing.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
I used to be Jack Frown.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
No.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
Oh, just really quick.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
There's a series called Santa Claus that continues the story
on Disney Plus. I haven't watched it yet, but I
figured I would before Christmas is here.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Okay, we're running.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
Out of time, Okay, already, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Just sneaks up.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
Yeah. My other Christmas movie that I like is Jingle
All the Way. Oh my god, I watched it last night.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
So I watched it two nights ago. Yeah, it was
on Pluto.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
I love that movie. I actually found out that that's
my dad's favorite movie, and I was like, this is
your favorite movie, net and he was like, yeah, I
love that movie. I watched that movie all the time.
And I'm like, I've never seen you watch it. I
know he watches it, but like I don't see him
watch shit frequently. I was kind of shocked, and so
I watched it and my sister watched it for the
first time with me last night, because my dad has
(31:06):
this thing where he just puts on movies on the
TV and just walks up the living room. I don't know,
I don't know why he just does. And me and
my sister were downstairs and it was on, and she
was like, I've never seen this movie before. And I said,
you've never seen Jingle all the way and she was
like no, and I said, Okay, we gotta we gotta
lock in right now. Yeah, And we studied at the
part where the Turmoman door had just sold out, so
(31:31):
it was like the beginning of the movie. So I
told her a quick backstory and now I was like,
I'm not rewinding, like you want to watch it, you know.
And I just freaking love that movie. And I'm watching
this and like it's so nostalgic for me because i
grew up watching that movie as well. But now that
I'm an adult, yes, movie is like freaking lit.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Now. What was cool was on Pluto TV, which you
know is free.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
I love Pluto, just like watching like the old tv
ye like back in the day, because it's just like
plays things you don't choose. So after that, Jin All
the Way two came on. Oh really, Yeah, have you
ever seen that?
Speaker 2 (32:03):
No, it stars Larry the Cable Guy.
Speaker 4 (32:06):
Okay, you know who he is. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
That was a that came out in twenty fourteen. It
was direct to video at the time, and it is
really just like a sequel name only it doesn't star
Arnold Schwarzenegger or anything. But the plot is Larry is
a truck driver and he's basically competing with his ex
(32:28):
wife's new husband to be like the best dad, which
one is the best dad for Christmas? So he's trying
to get his daughter this toy Harrison Bear that she
really wants, Okay, and then it's really hard to get
and they keep disappearing, like from stores and stuff. It's
really funny. Yeah, and way better than I thought it
(32:51):
would be.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
Yeah, when I watched it yesterday, No, you're fine. Oh
my god, he's just so freaking hilarious. I'm just thinking
about it.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
Oh, there was nothing you were gonna say.
Speaker 4 (33:04):
Oh, I mean I did like the part. Probably one
of my favorite parts of the whole movie is like
when they call in the radio to get the trible
man dole, and I feel like I work in radio,
so it's interesting. It was interesting to see that and
how he called and how when he went into the
actual studio, like he like busted the door down, and
(33:26):
I just started laughing so hard because I was imagining
myself as the radio person because we work in that industry.
And I was like, I don't even know what I
would do for a call or just busted down the
glass and I was saying for a thrill man doll,
and it was just so interesting to see and then
it was just so freaking hilarious, cracking up. I had
(33:48):
tears in my eyes, and my sister's just watching this
for the first time, like do you watch? What do
you make me watch? And I'm just like, this is comedy, Yeah,
this is this is film, Like you know, I was
very passionate.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
About it, very passionate about it.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
But yeah, I just love that movie so much, you know,
and it just it's one of the rare movies that
I feel like makes me nostalgic, okay, you know, because
I don't really have many movies where I'm like nostalgia,
Like no, right, no, no, but that's one of the few,
so I'm just like, it's so nice.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
All right.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
So one for me is the Grinch, not like the
one from like the sixties or whatever, the recent one
like with Jim No no, no, not that one either,
like the cartoon that came.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
Out the animated Grinch, yes.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
In twenty eighteen from Universal and Illumination.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Oh he looks like the Lorax character.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Yes, yeah, yeah, I love that version so much.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
It's like really funny.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Parrell Pharrell was in it, and Benedict cumber Patch, Rashida Jones,
Keenan Thompson, Angela Lansbar.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
It's big names.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
Yeah, Danny Elfman did the music, which I love him.
But I love that version so much. I don't know why.
I think because it goes into more like developing the
character like more than the other ones. Because the book
is what like twelve pages, and then like the special
like from like the original animated one from like the
(35:27):
fifties or whatever, is like eighteen minutes or something.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
Geez.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Yeah, it's like super short. And then the Grinch who
Stole Christmas with Jim Carrey. Yeah, and then this one,
like I don't know, I just really love this one
a lot.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
Yeah, it's your movie, it's your thing. Yeah, there's nothing
wrong with that.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
Have you seen that one?
Speaker 4 (35:44):
No, but you know what I'm not. You know, I'm
not opposed.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Okay, you should. You should add that to your list.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
I have to add the original to my list. I've
never seen any Grinch movie.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
None of the Grinch movies. No, oh my god. Okay, yes,
you have to add them all. You should go in
order they were made too, that'll be interesting.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
Yeah, the original animated one, then the Jim Carry one,
and then.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
The new one.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
Because every time I think about the Grinch, I mean,
everyone's mind goes to the Jim Carry one. Yeah, because
you know, I've It's a movie I haven't sat down
and seen, but I've seen so many scenes from it. Yeah,
and I like, you know, I know the storyline.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
For that one, I just felt like it was just
with the costume and all. I don't know, I just
felt it was kind of corny. I mean, I love
Jim Carrey, but it was just a little bit cringey.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Yeah, for that one.
Speaker 4 (36:31):
It's kind of funny though all the memes I see.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Yeah, yeah, I mean it's fun for memes, but like
I don't know, but my favorite is this the twenty
eighteen version.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Yeah, but what's your next one?
Speaker 4 (36:42):
My next one? It's not one of my favorites, but
it's the most recent Christmas movie that I saw.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
What this is supposed to be a list of your
favorite Christmas viees.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
I mean, it's a good one. It's a good one.
I liked. Okay, it was red one. I saw it too.
It was so freaking good.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
I did not expect to like it as much as
I did. Number one. I walked out of a theater
and I thought, why in the world was everyone so
freaking buff? Yeah, like everyone Santa Claus buff. Yeah, his
brother was buff Duayne Johnson's. But I'm like, my god,
this is like Santa Claus story on I don't even
know steroids. Everyone was so freaking buff, And I was like, okay.
(37:24):
Number one. I did not expect the storytelling to be
as good as.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
It was, either, did I.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
I thought that it was like such a unique story
and I just was looking at the movie and thinking
to myself, this is actually not half bad.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
No, it really was, like I really enjoyed it. My
friend wanted to see it, and we hadn't hung out
in a while, and he was like, let's go see
I think we're gonna see Venom and then it was
like out of the theater, so it was like, let's
go see Red One and I was like whatever, I'm
just going to hang out with him basically, and I
have Regal unlimited.
Speaker 4 (37:55):
So that's literally. I was like, I'm not even excited
for this movie. I'm just gonna watch this to watch it.
And I walked out like, yeah, it's so good.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
Yeah, yes, I loved it. It is one, you know,
and it is one that I would revisit again.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
I do like that one, and I feel as though
a lot of people didn't like it, but I like
all the movies that people hate. So I walked out
of the theater and I was like, I know the
general public gonna hate this one.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
Yeah, And I was right, you know, I like critically panned.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
Yeah, And I was like, that's how I know I
like it.
Speaker 2 (38:22):
Yeah, yeah, all right.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
So my next one is another classic a Christmas story.
You've seen this one is that the.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
Guy, like the old guy that has like the dress
what and the hat with the little thing. I have
no idea what you're talking about he has a little hat.
He has like a lit little lamp thing that he
like goes out. He's old. Oh he gets out of bed.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
You're talking about a Christmas carol?
Speaker 4 (38:55):
Is that what you just said?
Speaker 1 (38:56):
No, Christmas story? Christmas story. I thought you're talking about
the leg lamp. Oh no, the lamp that's shaped like
a woman's leg.
Speaker 4 (39:04):
No, sorry, no, you're fine.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
So Christmas Stories from nineteen eighty three is based on
a book actually called and God We Trust All Others
Pay Cash by Jeane Shepherd and it stars Melinda Dylon,
Darren McGavin, Peter Billingsley, And it's from MGM.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
It is a Christmas classic. For me, it's the one
that's like.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
We'll shoot you ray out. I mean, you'll shoot your
ry out.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
Do you know what I'm talking about?
Speaker 3 (39:35):
No?
Speaker 2 (39:35):
Oh, then it's like Fredziele. Wait, am I combining to movies?
Am I combining to No?
Speaker 4 (39:42):
No, I don't even know what you're talking about.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
Christmas?
Speaker 1 (39:47):
What is that?
Speaker 2 (39:49):
This is the lamp I thought you were talking about.
Speaker 4 (39:52):
Oh that's weird. What in the world?
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Hold on?
Speaker 4 (39:57):
So that's what it's called the Gloom?
Speaker 1 (40:00):
Yeah, yeah, so it is hysterical, it is old timey,
so like it takes place in nineteen thirty nine and
it is hysterically funny and it's like heartwarming, And that
is one that I watch every single year.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
It's just a classic. Add that to your list too.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
Okay, with the Grinch all everything?
Speaker 2 (40:23):
Okay, what is your next one?
Speaker 4 (40:28):
I'm not sure if this is a Christmas movie, but
I watch it for during Christmas all the time because
it's like a winter movie. Is Hands?
Speaker 1 (40:38):
I love everisusor Hands? And I was going back and
forth on adding that I'm gonna add it for you.
Speaker 4 (40:43):
I love that freaking movie.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
So it's a classic. And it's Tim Burton, who I love.
Speaker 4 (40:47):
I love Tim Burton.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
Yeah, Johnny Depp, I mean when on a rider like
it is such a classic movie.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
Why do you love it so much?
Speaker 4 (40:56):
I mean it was Johnny Depp when he was young,
like he was you know okay, and the story is good, I.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
Mean great insight when he was young, and the story's good.
Speaker 4 (41:15):
She was cool too.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
What reminds you of it being Christmas?
Speaker 4 (41:19):
Like the snow when he was like on you know
how when he would do the ice sculptures and stuff
like that, and the snow like fall or whatever, And
wasn't it a Christmas story that her character was telling
to her grandchildren or it was a story that she
told them at night around Christmas time. So I think
(41:41):
that that's why it's like, you know, in my brain,
it relates to Christmas, because she is telling a story
around Christmas, you know, to her grandchildren. And so you know,
when a movie ends and like it goes back to
like the present time. I don't know, I just really
loved it that move in that movie when I was
a kid and all my friends used to be scared
(42:04):
of really yeah, he was, I don't know. I mean
I was in elementary school and nobody liked the movie.
People were just kind of scared in him when I
was little, and I kind of liked it him, like
he was kind of cool to me. I was like,
do got switches for him? It's kind of dope, you know.
And then I was reading into the storyline, you know,
(42:25):
as an adult, and I'm not sure if this is
accurate or not, but I know that Tim Burton, he
has briefly stated that he's a little autistic and how
he based the character Edward on someone who is kind
of on that same spectrum and I rewatched a movie
(42:47):
with that in mind, and yes, you can kind of
tell because he doesn't talk that much. He's kind of like,
you know, not nonverbal in the beginning a little bit
or just barely speaking words. And it's kind of like
a movie about how society views people who are different
in that way. And as an adult when I was
watching it, you know, it kind of brought a little
(43:07):
insight to me that, yeah, you know, this is kind
of what people have to go through who are different,
you know, who are classified as different from society. And
how they instantly turned on him, you know, they were
looking at him like he was some type of spectacle
in the beginning. And you know, I'm sure that some
people who suffer with you know, that kind of challenges
in their life probably feel the same way when people
(43:28):
look at them. And it was just kind of bizarre
to me, you know, making that connection, and I just was,
you know a little bit insightful for me to understand
a little bit more about that character in a way
that I couldn't understand when I was younger. I know.
So it went from Johnny Depp's Hot too.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
Yeah, Actually it's for I love it because of its
representation of all the underrepresented.
Speaker 4 (43:53):
It's got to give me a minute to get my
thoughts together because I'm like, yo, hold on.
Speaker 2 (43:59):
Okay, all right, cool.
Speaker 4 (44:01):
So my.
Speaker 1 (44:03):
Final one, I mean, I also love Elf, but my
final final one is christ National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
Speaker 4 (44:11):
Oh my god, god, I'm gonna watch that one on
Christmas Eve.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
You told me that like three months ago, although it.
Speaker 4 (44:16):
Was no, no, no, because Regal shout out to Regal. Okay,
because if you don't know, Regal's going to be doing
a swing what No, Regal's going to be doing a
showing on December twenty fifth.
Speaker 2 (44:30):
You're very passionate.
Speaker 4 (44:31):
Twenty fourth, December twenty fourth, Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve.
Speaker 1 (44:35):
Yes, of what you just said, National Lampoons Christmas fake
ase yep.
Speaker 2 (44:41):
So you're gonna watch it for the first time on
the big screen. That is awesome. Yeah, I've never seen
it on the big screen.
Speaker 4 (44:48):
You should go, Yeah, you should go. It's gonna be
really I don't know. I mean, I'm gonna take you
where for it. That it's a great movie.
Speaker 2 (44:54):
Oh my god, it's so funny.
Speaker 4 (44:55):
So I wanted to watch it for this podcast, but
I was thinking to myself, I really want to wait
to the I co experienced it for the first time
in theaters because that's when you get the brig screen
and you get the surround, so it's like it's an experience. Yeah,
so I really wanted to wait. But I knew you
were gonna say it because I remember how passionate you
were about it during the summertime, and I was like, man,
(45:19):
he's going to say that movie and I'm going to
say I haven't watched it yet. He's gonna say I
knew you wouldn't.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
Yes, you have got I can't wait till you see it,
and we'll talk once you see it, we'll talk about
it because I can't wait to get your opinion on it.
But it's like slapstick comedy, you know what I mean.
So it's like, you know, I don't know. I just
love it so much. It's one that I watch every
single year. Yeah, Like, there's no like I'm gonna watch it.
(45:52):
There's no if sends robots.
Speaker 4 (45:54):
I feel like it's also a movie that a lot
of people quote. Yes, and I've been in the presence
of people who are quoting this movie and they're dying
of laughter and I'm like, I don't know what the
heck you're talking about, right, you know, And it's just
not even the Christmas movie. It's just that movie franchise
in general.
Speaker 2 (46:11):
Yeah, absolutely no.
Speaker 4 (46:12):
And I'm just you know, sitting there lost and I
kind of want to watch it to get more into
the pop culture aspect of it.
Speaker 2 (46:22):
Like I want to laugh too, you know, I want
to absolutely want to.
Speaker 4 (46:27):
I want to understand what's going on.
Speaker 1 (46:28):
And now you are going to Yeah, now you're gonna
be like, Okay, I see why everybody raves about it,
because it's just awesome. Yeah, like and like Antpithony, I
love Antpithony. Wait till you meet Anpithony.
Speaker 4 (46:42):
Wait wait till you meet her? Do you hear it?
Speaker 2 (46:45):
It's a funny squeaky sound. Ohs fall Like I hear
that all the time. Yeah, that's from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
Speaker 4 (46:54):
That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
Yeah, So any other ones that.
Speaker 4 (46:57):
You have, No, not really, I wasn't gonna put the
Polar Express when I hate that movie. Wait what the
Polar Express? No, I don't know. I just think that
it's just kind of weird. It always gave me weird
vibes when I was a kid. I don't know. It
was just the they look never mind what they just
(47:19):
look so freaking weird. The characters like they look, I
don't want to say it, like creepers, like they look
they just look weird. Yeah, and it's just the storyline
is weird. I don't know. I hated that movie when
I was a kid man. I used to die every
time when my teacher would say, yeah, we're gonna put
(47:40):
the Polar Express on for damn it. I hate that movie.
Speaker 1 (47:44):
Well, what's weird is that, like the people look they
just look creepy. Yeah, like they look real but not.
Speaker 2 (47:51):
It's just like off.
Speaker 4 (47:53):
I don't know what in the world that movie has
on me, but it's just I don't find no spirit
in it. My only favorite scene from that movie is
probably the hot chocolate scene. I'm say something. The scene
when he's in the toy the toy train gave me nightmare.
This is a kid really that scene. Hated that scene.
(48:14):
You know, I see I'm talking about where he's in.
He's like in the toy thing and it's picking up
all these decaying toys and stuff, and the guy in
the train in the in the in the front or
whatever on top is screaming at him. Oh my gog,
how I used to myself or that scene that see
and then and then everything's like grabbing them. I'm oh
my god, that scene freaked me out.
Speaker 2 (48:41):
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (48:42):
And then and then I used to get such high anxiety.
I'm talking about the highest anxiety. When the train hit
the ice, oh my goodness, and it was doing like
the left right. I was like, I can't do this.
I cannot. I'm I'm like eight years old and through
right now, like I'm so stressed out for these people.
I don't know. It was just such oh my goodness.
And then and then when the train like, ah, they're
(49:03):
gonna die, so they're gonna there, it's over over, end
credits right now, my goodness. And then that one kids
slipped oh no, oh no, stressing me out running around
the North Pole. They got no common sense, and I'm
over here like, excuse me. You guys need to get
yourself together. You guys are children, children in the North Pole,
(49:26):
and you are thinking the North Pole it's easily accessible
for children. No, no, you know, it's just I hate
that freaking movie. It's so many unnecessary stuff that goes on.
And then the end, Oh my god, that the freaking
ad the bell fives god, the bell No, the bellfi
(49:47):
out of the stuper little pocket.
Speaker 3 (49:50):
No.
Speaker 2 (49:51):
No, Oh my god, you were like visually upset. I
mean you're like shaking.
Speaker 4 (49:57):
No, because this movie cow everyone he loves this. Everyone
ride so heavy for this movie. Say something about this movie.
I don't like it. I don't like it. I never
did and never will. Oh my god, Like I was stupid.
The train scene as well. In the very beginning, they
(50:18):
ain't freak you as a kid. Everything's like rumbling, like
when the train comes to get you as a kid.
Remember what, Oh my god, I was over here like
this is so it was so loud, like he's going
to bed, and like everything just starts shaking us like
a massive earthquake going on. Then you see, you know,
the horns or whatever, you know, and then it's like,
(50:40):
what the heck's going on? It's all right outside and
he's over here like crashing out, like everything everything's falling
off the shelves and oh my god, oh my gods,
me out. Stressed me out so bad, just for in
the end, for little Santa to fix everything. Oh my god,
(51:01):
talk about you left the bell on the sleigh. I
don't know, I don't know. I hate that freaking movie.
This soundcheck is bombed. I will say that, but I
love the music to it. I love the music to it,
but I don't know.
Speaker 2 (51:18):
Well, Merry Christmas, everybody. You're so passionate about that movie.
Speaker 4 (51:27):

Speaker 2 (51:29):

Speaker 1 (51:31):
I don't even know how to wrap after that. That
is uh strong feelings for the Polar Express, which where
all of the money made from that movie went to
little orphans to help them. So yeah, you didn't know that. No,
I'm joking.
Speaker 4 (51:52):
