(00:00):
One to one point five. Yeah, yeah, fem Madison's Classic Rock A
two for Tuesday two. They're fromAerosmith. Also Beyond the Studs Tuesday what
Legacy Exteriors. They're owner Josh Gallwitz. He's here back in the studio this
week. How are you. I'mdoing great? How are you? I'm
doing great? So you were offlast week. We talked about this off
the air because you were at abaseball tournament for your son in Omaha.
(00:21):
Yes, yeah, it's a reallygood time. Yeah, took in a
college World Series. And how's thatstadium? Because it just rebuilt it.
The beautiful's back. It's beautiful.Yeah, yeah, it was it rosenbladd
Is that what it's called, Charlesschwab Oh, because now there's some big
time financial sponsor involved and now it'sgot, you know, absolutely beautiful snacks.
Yeah, that's sort of a Idon't know, I'm not a big
(00:44):
college baseball fan, but I've alwaysseen it on ESPN or whatever, and
I thought to myself, that'd bekind of cool to go. Yeah,
the grass looks so perfect that italmost looks like turf. That's how perfect.
A little so cool, that's socool. The grounds cruise in those
stadiums do amazing words. So anyways, does it mention time with John Scawitz
on a Beyond the stud Tuesday, owner of Legacy Exteriors, Best of Madison.
We are coming down to the finaldays here Friday, June thirtieth,
(01:07):
your last chance to vote for youknow, as I've been kind of referencing
this great local Madison businesses, right, these are businesses that people like me,
we patronize, right, and youdo too, right, correct,
And so this is our way ofsaying thank you, showing our support.
I've already cast my vote, andI know you can only vote once for
you guys. I did that inthe roofing category, because that's true.
(01:30):
That is true. That's what I'veread. I was under the impression you
could vote every day. Interesting, but I don't go home me to that
it could be wrong. Well, the good thing about this is I'm on
the air of the rest of thisweek, so I'll get the answer.
And in California you can just voteas many times as you want. I
like to. I like to jokeabout Chicago doing that too, but you
(01:51):
are from Illinois. But yeah,so, as I mentioned, vote for
Legacy Exteriors Gang for Best of Madison. Again, they are nominated under two
categories Roofing, which I voted forthem in, but also windows and doors.
John, just talk a little bitabout you know, I don't know
how important, how cool that wouldbe to win that award, because this
is an award that people who youknow, have patronized legacy exteriors. They
(02:15):
nominated you, they're voting for you. Well, so I don't know if
people are aware, but we've actuallybeen fortunate enough to win a lot of
national awards. So we've been votedmultiple times to the Top two hundred Exterior
Companies in America Award, Top fivehundred Remodeling Companies America Award, Presidents Club
Award multiple times, So all thesedifferent national awards, and they're great,
(02:39):
they're fantastic. But this one isa local award, and for those of
you don't know, I mean,we only work in the surrounding Madison area.
So to win an award given outthat specifically says best of Madison,
it's a true honor to be apart of it, to be a part
(03:00):
of the final three I guess itis, or whatever the final numbers are.
But yeah, we're we're so fortunateto be a part of it and
it would be a true honor towin it. Yeah, and again,
you can vote at Channel three thousanddot com under Madison Magazine vest at Madison,
but I will put that link foryou to vote. Also if you
(03:22):
go, check out this interview onour website once we're done, at WYBAFM
dot com. But Josh, Italked about this yesterday here on IBAFM on
my show, and this is morean interior home trend, but it blew
my mind. So I wanted tothrow this at you so we could talk
about exterior home trends. But therewas a recent study done and four thousand
prospective homebuyers were surveyed and they saidtheir most popular choice of paints for the
(03:46):
inside of their home was charcoal gray. Charcoal gray, let me say that
correctly, which blew my mind becauseI'm doing an accident well in my house
and we wanted something brighter to bringin light. Nothing, So monitor tell
them that's just kind of blah,But apparently that's the trend. Are you
seeing that on the exterior side ofthings? To wow? Yeah? Um,
(04:08):
you know, dark grays, darkblues, um, are extremely hot
and popular right now. Um,just dark colors in general, but yeah,
a dark gray is a very verypopular choice. And then when you
pair that with, um, youknow, a lighter color trim around your
windows and doors and maybe you're softin facia it it actually does truly pop.
(04:33):
Yeah, I get. I mean, I don't know. I mean,
I just look at my home formy home, but my neighborhood for
example. And maybe it's because I'min a twenty five year old neighborhood subdivision,
if you will, but I'm notseeing a lot of houses that are
darker. So this is a recentthing. Oh. I would say the
last couple of years. Um,the darker trend kind of made its But
(05:00):
yeah, I think if you wentto newer subdivisions, you are going to
see those dark colors on homes. And I mean and if people are doing
remodels, yeah, they are definitelygravitating towards the darker blues and darker grays.
Yeah. So I mean, anybodythat is you know, listening to
this live right now or even ifthey grab the podcast later, if you're
(05:20):
thinking about selling your current home andyou know you have to do some upgrades
before you put it on the market. You know, this is important information.
I mean, this is I meanyou should be aware of these trends
that you know, homebuyers are lookingfor. Yeah, and also when you're
going with darker siding for example,as you mentioned, you can lighten things
up with the fecia et cetera. But can you also do that, you
(05:40):
know, with your shingle color.Maybe are you seeing that with different fi
pound products being put on homes too. Yeah, there's a lot of different
ways where you can lighten up ormake it custom in areas, whether that's
the shingle or the trim packages. There's a lot of different ways of creative.
You know that that light you knowthat that different shade. But I
(06:04):
also you know you're talking about trendsand I always look at it too as
Um, you know that dark graymight be looked at as like you know,
in the gold fixtures were almost anineties You can go in the house
and be like, oh, thiswas a nineties house. Yeah, Um
that might be you know in thefuture when you'll see a dark gray house.
(06:27):
Um. So I think if ifthe darker trend is you know what
you like, maybe you go darkblue because in my opinion, blue is
timeless. Sure, you know it'sa timeless color. Sure, yeah.
And I mean also too, Ithink what's nice about what you do over
at UM like I see Exteriors isI'm sure some companies they didn't anticipate these
(06:47):
trends, so they have a bunchof products already in the warehouse, whatever
it may be, so they maytry and push what they currently have on
you. But you guys really allowpeople to fully customize and go in whatever
direction they want. Absolutely, andyou know, especially if you win a
specialty sighting round, whether it's JamesHardy, Cement Mood or LP smart Side.
They have their stock colors, andI think they have beautiful stock colors,
(07:12):
but they allow you to truly pickany shade of any color. So
if there's colors in mind that youwant to see on your home, they
can certainly do it. And thenice part about our design processes, we
can put your house in a threeD image and put that very color that
you want on that home, soyou can see it before whatever you know
(07:33):
goes on the home. Yeah.Talking with Johns. Gallott's, owner of
Legacy Exteriors, they beyond the studsTuesday on IBAFM. I've seen a firsthand
with your GAF rep Shane, therelationships you have with your different manufacturers reps,
I think goes a long way interms of me as a customer,
I may want something a little outsidethe box. Well, you have that
(07:56):
relationship with these companies to kind ofmake it happen for me too. Yeah,
I think in this business, inour industry, it's relationships are hugely
important. And over the years, you know, we've been doing this for
almost twenty years now and we havetruly developed some great relationships within the products
that we do carry UM and we'vekind of uh specifically chosen the products that
(08:20):
we carry on purpose because they're you'reyou're only as good as the manufacturer and
how they back it, and solike GF backs it with the best warranty
in the industry, and we're atthe highest level. They actually created a
special warranty package for us at LegacyExteriors. We're at the highest level with
(08:41):
LP Smart Site how and James Hardyand so on. So we picked manufacturers
that are truly going to stand behindtheir warranty as much as we stand behind
our craftsmanship. Warranty yeah. Andalso, um, this is a little
behind the scenes stuff too. Aswe talk with Jascal, it's your owner
of legacy yours, but you aredoing some work on your cottage. Are
(09:03):
putting you siding on? And whatkind of siding are you putting on that?
We're putting on LP smart side, the same siding that I could call
you right now at two two onethree thousand and say hey, I want
that in my home. Absolutely, you stand behind these products. Do you
put up on your own homes?Yeah? And and and we we went
with a popular trend, so wewent with dark. Yeah, well kind
(09:24):
of it's it's we went with ared with white trim um. And then
we we're redoing the windows there toall knows white, so it's white windows.
But we're mixing materials, so we'redoing some lap, we're doing some
boarding, batting on some bump outsome peaks, and we're also doing some
shakes. Nice. So that's oneof the hot trends um um here lately
(09:46):
is kind of mixing and matching materials. And given that home one of a
kind field, Yeah, I thinkit says a lot about the products a
business, you know, sales offers. If you will when the owner of
that business also install also the sameproducts on a his own home. But
Josh, we're out of time today. Thank you, thank you. Yes,
that was beyond the Sunds with LegacyExteriors Again, whatever exterior project you
(10:07):
have in mind for your home, whether it's windows, gutters, signing,
decks, roofs, three season, four season, life rooms Pergolow's Legacy Exteriors
gutter guards two, I should mentionthey can do that for you two two
one, three thousand their number.Great website to Legacy dash Exteriors dot com.
Quickly, don't forget vote for LegacyExteriors Best of Madison two categories roofing
(10:28):
and windows and doors. You havethrough Friday to get that done, or
as Josh mentioned, maybe you canvote more than one to do that if
you can. Okay, maybe thelink to get that done will be in
the podcast of this episode at WYBAFMdot com. But TI for Tuesday rolls
