Speaker 1 (00:00):
Lead it off the NFL six pack here in just
a second. But I appreciate you guys being along the road.
We got Rockies coming up at seven o'clock. Guys want
to stay tuned for that. Jack and Jerry on the
call without for the ADO. Let's get right into it
in the NFL six pack.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
It's time for the NFL six pad. I'm gonna trade
a lot of beer, insight and insight information you can't
find anywhere else.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
No.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Six, the top six NFL headlines. What last night?

Speaker 4 (00:25):
You asked for a warning, So I'm going to give
you a warning this time around. Former Longhorns wide receiver
and current NFL draft prospect Isaiah Bond has surrendered to
FRISCO authorities down in Texas over a sexual assault warrant.
Do you think Bond will still be selected in this
year's draft as this legal situation swirls around?

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Uh? Well, he's claiming his innocence at all this. I
obtained a copy of the affidavit, so I will tell
you this. According to the affidavit, officers met with the
victim at adult woman at Methodist Dallas Medical Center on
February six when this occurred. The woman told all officers
that Bond initially sent her a direct message on Instagram,
and that the pair eventually started texting each other over text.

(01:07):
Bond told the woman that he would be in the
Frisco area for training related to the upcoming NFL draft,
after she'd be willing to meet up.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
The affidavit then says their text.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Conversation turned to mutual discussions of having sex and engaging
in one act in particular, which the villaged victims said
she would consider. According to the affidavit, the two in
person on February fourth and began a consensual sexual accounter
after drinking wine. During the interaction, the affidavit says, Bond
brought up the notion of the act they previously discussed
their text exchanges. The woman told Bond in that moment

(01:38):
she was not comfortable trying it, According to the affidavit,
Bon then and began engaging in that act anyway. The
document says the woman asked Bond to stop while physically
pushing him away from her and telling him she was
in pain, but Bon continued the act while using his
body weight against her and covering her mouth. After the encounter,
Bond told the woman alcohol makes me do things and

(02:01):
asked her to sign a non disclosure agreement. The woman
refused to sign the NBA and left the apartment. After leaving,
the woman texted Bond, saying, Isaiah, you were wrong for that.
I asked you to stop, you kept covering my mouth.
I'm in a lot of pain. Bond responded, you want
a thousand? I'm really sorry. Would that make it feel better,
offering one thousand dollars cash. According to the document, the

(02:22):
woman was shocked that he offered her money, so she
responded to what five K?

Speaker 2 (02:26):
And then like one k?

Speaker 1 (02:28):
You asked me to sign, then you offered me money,
So you know what you did. It's why you covered
my mouth. After meeting with officers at the Frisco Police
Department on February twentieth, they after data states, the woman
texted Bond again as part of a pretextual interview. When
the woman asked it for an apology, he responded with
I did or when responded by saying apologizing by trying

(02:48):
to pay me isn't a real apology. You really hurt
me and I kept telling you to stop, to which
he said, I'm sorry. From that point on, the woman
was unable to make any contact with bond. Charges of
sexual assault were then filed. Longhorn turned himself in on
aaprial tenths which was yesterday. Thereafter, it posted bond and
was released from jail. He posted a statement saying regarding

(03:09):
the accusation, I'd appreciate the time and opportunity to defend
myself proved claims I made patently false. I'm in full
cooperation with authorities and willing to make and willing and
active participant in the investigation.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
The abnet is pretty clear. I mean, the woman's pretty clear.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
They got text messages back and forth, They've got the evidence. Yes,
this will affect his draft stock. Yes, this is a
problem for him in that regard. And further, even though
he's claiming innocence, it pretty much looks like he's guilty
based on this affidavit and the surrounding physical evidence.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Yeah, especially his response to everything. And I think a
detail in there that's especially concerning. The whole story is
disgusting and very concerning. But I think a detail that
is especially so is that he had like the NDA
ready to go, He knew that avenue. It makes me
personally wonder if he's been down this road before.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Yeah, in this situation, you know, I don't like to
use the word groom, but he sort of did.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
He knew what he was asking her to do. She
said maybe.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Then they got there, she said no before he tried
to do it anyway and used his physical might to force.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Her to do it. And we're talking about an NFL
draft prospect.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Right and then had the NDA, like right off, right
after you finished, you had that NDA locked up and
ready to go, and had an NDA prepared, dude.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
And I don't think that's the first time. That's clearly
not the first time.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
If you're somebody who had a non disclosure or prepared,
if you came to an accounter with an NBA prepared,
whether digitally or physically, Oh god man, what are we going.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
And then immediately offering her money. Yeah, Like that's proving
you're guilty right there.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
Any of the apology after that whole exchange, I think
that demonstrates it as well.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah, before look, before all.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
This came out, Steve Palozzolo formally with PFF. Now when
the thirty third team put out, uh, you know, wouldn't
comment specifically what it was, but this guy has the
character problems offield problems that are maybe even worse than
Jermaine Burton had last year. Burton a player who really
flamed out with the Bengals in his rookie season. Was
this what he was referencing to your knowledge or is
there even more beyond.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
These incidents like this?

Speaker 1 (05:14):
There are others He had the NBA primed ready to go,
and I don't want to sit here and come out
of pocket on some things that aren't out there, but
I will say that this is not This is very
obviously not the first time, and there are other things
out there that.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Will come to light. Two. Cameron Jordan changing the pace here.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
I know you guys have been talking about the Derek
Carr situation and him potentially missing the twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Season with that short issue.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
In spite of that, Cameron Jordan is saying he doesn't
expect the Saints to draft a quarterback in the first round.
He said, I like to look at history, and the
Saints haven't drafted a quarterback in the first round since
Archie Manning. Do you think they finally break that streak
this year and draft a quarterback in the first Well.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
See, you know my thing about the Shador slide which
is going to happen is something that I like the
Saints were like the first stopping point on that that
I've been watching. I kind of don't think he's their
guy though. I think they're on Dart or Sug and
I think you could get Shug later. So you know,
if you're if you're watching this thing, I don't know
that I'm circling the drain on them taking a quarterback

(06:18):
necessarily in the first round. You could get Tyler Shug
maybe in the second round or trade back to the
end of the first round kind of thing. I think
that pick at nine is going to go into a
different direction, and so I'm kind of with Cam Jordan
on this. We talked about it a little bit, debated
what to do over a KA Sports when Nick and
I were doing that, and I'm not convinced that they

(06:40):
wouldn't go the Spencer Rattler plus a low cost rookie
and then see what happens that if it doesn't work,
you're in line for arch Manning. Is sort of a
full circle moment that the last first round of your drafted.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Was Archie Manning. You know, maybe next year, do.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
You think Kellen Moore likes Spencer Ratler at all. Obviously
he wasn't his draft pick. That do you think if
there just would.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Be a kick? I think it's a you see what
you guy kind of think Kelli Moore.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
If you go back and you look at what his
offense requires, it requires the off of the quarterback to
be a little bit mobile. Shor doesn't really fit that.
Kyle should doesn't really fit that. Dark in a sense
sort of fits that. And he's not that he's the
fastest runner.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
In the world, but he's will solid. Yeah, so there's
you know, I'm not again.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
It's interesting to me, but I don't I'm not necessarily
sold to take a quarterback there at night, even with
the car situation, that makes sense to me.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
I think I like the gamble with those Day two
guys better than I do with Shud. I like Schador
better as a prospect. But spending a top ten pick
on Shador pick if.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
You don't believe it, he's not your guy, don't do it.
If he's your guy, go that go for me. I
don't have to be a bit of static about him.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Just pick him top ten, especially with the tools he has,
and there's going to be a media circus around him,
even if he is the most mature person and handles
it brilliantly, there's going to be a media circuit, right.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
So that's that's one of those things.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Like I tend to think Cam Jordan knows a little
bit about what's going on with their draft plans.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
So you don't think Nick's idea of bringing in Teddy
Bridgewater and drafting Shador is a feasible possibility.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
I think it's absolutely feasible possibility. I don't think it's
the way they're going to do it. I think it's
certainly it's plausible that anyone could do it.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
I don't think they are Katy and I feel like I'm,
you know, Denver's biggest Teddy stand over here. But do
people still think Teddy has something left in the tank?

Speaker 2 (08:13):
I feel, you know, he's kind of.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
You know, I guess you know somebody that you feel
has left in the tank is true luck, But we'll
get to.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
That in a minute. You know, Teddy more interceptions in
the tank or just you know.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
It's gonna squeeze Sam hell right out of there. I think, uh,
I think if you're looking AT's I think if you're
looking at this if you need like that would be
oh my god, we need somebody in here kind of thing.
Not we think he can be something like Teddy is like,
oh god, we need a veteran body in here, which
I could see. But I think you go with Rattler here.
You got to see what you got in that and
before you you know, and then make a decision and the.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Town's the Joe with Rattler. I like that roll of
the dice three.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
The Cleveland Browns are bringing back Joe Flacco. Last year
they were a little too scared to have him around
with warning Deshaun in the building. But this time it
seems like they are looking to bring him back in
compete to compete rather with Kenny Pickett and maybe Deshaun Watson.
He's still on the roster. We'll see how long that
last year, if he's even around the team. Come to
the regular season. How many games do you think Joe

(09:15):
Flacca starts this season? And who do you think starts
the most games at quarterback for the Browns, whether or
not they're currently on the roster.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
I don't think this affects anything.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
It was a low cost signing and you know, asuch
as the Wacko for Flacco. Thing is, you know, is
a big I don't think he's I don't think he's
moves the needle. I think at the end of the day,
there's just leverage against Atlanta on Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
You know.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
So at the end of the day, if you put
me on the spot, I still think Kirk Cousins starts
the most games for the Cleveland Browns this year.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
So you think Kirk Cousins is still in the mix
for the Browns because there were some reports that they
might be out of it.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Now say, oh, that's exactly what this is is leverage
on the perception that at the end of the day
he's said a one year, four million dollars deal.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
You're the Browns.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
You have so much cap space you could punt this
and this doesn't even this doesn't affect your bottle line
at all.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
That makes sense. I like that move in that case.

Speaker 4 (10:01):
But I might take Joe Flacko over Kenny Pickett best
based on what we've seen over the last two years.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
I'm not confident alive off Kenny Pickett.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
I will say that Kellemore certainly has some experience.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
With Kenny Pickett. Maybe you bring him down.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
And now you've got a competition in training.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Camp that kind of thing.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
Wait, where was the overlap with Kenny Pickett for Kellen Moore?

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Wasn't that last year in Philadelphia? Last player in the
Super Bowl?

Speaker 4 (10:24):
I forgot that Kenny Picot was there. I totally erace
that from my memory.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
But if the Browns want to go back to the playoffs,
they need to play Joey Flacco.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Joey Butter Flacco or.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Speaking about my Kirk Cousins, Mike Florio reported today that
Kirk Cousins might be the biggest loser in today's Flaco signing.
It sounds like that might not really be the case,
but there are the landing spots at quarterback are quickly
drying up. The Steelers and maybe the Browns are the
only teams that seem to be in the veteran market.
Where do you think Cousins winds up? Could he stay

(10:56):
in Atlanta? Could he retire big? There are outside of retirement.
I think there are three options.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
You back up in Atlanta, you take the Cleveland deal
and go there. And then I talked about it to
James Palmer just a little bit when he was on
with US with the KOI Sports if they don't get
this brock Party thing done San Francisco, maybe he's in
the market for that. Now all a sudden, you've got
an asset to trade and brock Party to to, you know,
one of these other quarterback nev teams that you've at
least got one cheap year with brock Party before you
got to get an extension done. Right, maybe Saints are

(11:23):
looking at something like that. Who knows the Steelers thing.
Rogers hasn't signed with the Steelers, you know, could Rogers
go on the cheap to you know, to a Saints
team that.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Offensively kind of love talent. So there are.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Still some options here. This carousel thing is still spinning.
But I think at the end of the day you're
gonna wind up in a situation where Cousins is gonna
wind up either in Cleveland or retiring.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
I think those are the those are the top two options.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
Now do you think Cousins because I heard there were
some reports that he was part of the reason he
was slow playing the signing process was he does not
want to get traded somewhere and then watch that team
draft to quarterback.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
What happen with him? If I want to waive it
until after the draft.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
But with that in mind, is the possibility of him
or the outcome of him backing up in Atlanta all
that realistic because it seems like he doesn't want to
be in a situation like the one.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
He's already in. Well, yeah, and I think that that's
the thing.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Also, doesn't you don't you think the signing of Joe
Flacco is more likely to take Cleveland out of signing
a drafting a rookie quarterback than than anything else. Not saying,
just saying, now you've got leverage both ways.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
And then I'll also say the San Francisco element of
that is very funny to me. If they ended up
moving on from Brock party for Kirk Cousins and mac Jones,
two rumored former lovers of our foolings interests of Kyle Shanahan,
I'd be very interesting something to keep your eye on.
Kirk Cousins to the forty nine ers and they're bringing
home a Super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Well, did somebody take the trophy out of the root.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
I'm also excited for Matt in twenty six Yeah five.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Former Oh no, sorry? Five? Wait? Which one am I on? Now?

Speaker 4 (13:04):
We already did bond Oh the text, Sorry we miss
mixed up already. The Houston Texans signed Jalen Petrie to
a three year deal worth thirty nine million today.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
That is the same length and total value.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
As the contract to Talanoa Hufunga signed with the Denver Broncos.
Which player do you think is the better bargain for
their team on those respective deals?

Speaker 1 (13:23):
Well, if you're using the word bargain, then you have
to say Petra. He's more flexible in terms of where
he can play, and he signed after Hufanga, which means
that resetting the market didn't actually affect him. So if
you if you're caveating that with the term bargain, then
I have to go with Petray. Which one would I
rather have my team Ufanga? Assuming both are healthy and
all that kind of stuff, All things being equal, I

(13:45):
think kufung is a better player. I think he's a
stronger player. I think he gets harder if he's covers.
But I mean, you know, I would rather have Hufanga
considering injuries. If if you're George Payton, then you obviously
Petre wasn't out there on the free agent market, but
you get the right to sign one of these two
guys to this deal out there at the same time,
Which would you go with in that world?

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Well, I mean.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Kind of Petrie because he can play in the slot,
he can play the dimebacker.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Vanka is gonna be a safety.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
You might have some dimebacker type stuff for him, but honestly,
the kid they signed from Carolina is probably gonna be
the dinebacker guy. I you know, I might go Petray
if all things being equal, I might go Petra there,
But in terms of just a safety, you're with Huvana.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
This morning I was looking and I might agree with
you there this. I was a big fan of Petri
coming out of the draft, and coincidentally this morning I
was watching some Ivanga tape.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
I don't think he was quite the same in twenty
twenty four.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
Now, you know, you're recently removed from a late twenty
twenty three season, ACL you're hoping the injuries healed now, Yes,
but should be noted we haven't seen that version of
the guy yet.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
And fingers trussed.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Yeah, that's one of those That's one of those things,
all the injured players that we went out there and
signed a free agency, that's one of those things.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
You got to kind of keep you on six.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
Think about it idly, we can get to the story
of the day, the story of the day, and Injuri's
really quick I'll say that's something to worry about with
the first round, Mox when I see an injury prone
guy tied to the bron because I'm like, oh, I
don't know if you want to over index too hard
on those guys. But number six, finally someone is giving
Drew Lock a shot. We waited long, all these coaches
trying to tear our guy down. Finally he's getting a

(15:17):
shot as the Seattle Seahawks are bringing him in to
be Sam Donald's backup for this upcoming season. Ostensibly he'll
be competing with Sam Howell for that job. What are
your expectations for Locke this season and what do you
make of John Schneider bringing him back to Seattle, even
though now the head coach, offensive play caller, everything is
different than from his first step.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
At least he's familiar with some of the personnel there.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Most receivers are gone too, so I think they're familiar
with his personality, They're familiar with what he brings to
the table, and I felt like that John Schneider felt
like that with the right thing, they could tartan into itself.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
That he's going to back up Sam Donald.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
But what does really say is is that Sam Howell
is probably on thin ice there in Seattle. Howel's a
guy they brought in. We'd started for the Commanders for
a minute. He was a guy coming out of North Carolina.
A lot of people had high homes for But I
tell you, man, I I that game against the Colts,
Drew Locke was on fire. He cost the Giants the
number one overall pick. You know, it probably did what

(16:15):
he was he was put in to not do, but
which was when a win a football game and win
it commitcing fashion.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
With Drew's on fire, He's on fire.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
Man, And there's something there's something about that. I don't
know that you know. We've seen a few games like
that here there. We saw it when the Broncos against
the Texans. We saw it in Seattle that year with
the Gino, you know, backpack celebration. Now we see it
there with the fur flashes there. If you can rain
Drew lock in, so be it. I'm just happy for Drew.
Drew's had a rough week and that was a great
way to highlight. And Drew's father passed away, uh this

(16:43):
past week. Andy Locke passed away this past week, and
so getting Drew getting that, I mean to me, that's
got to be a better ending to what was a
horrific week.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Certainly, and your point about his chemistry with the pre
existing weapons there on the Seahawks obviously lock.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
It and Metcalf gone.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
But when he had that great flash for the Seahawks
against the Philadelphia Eagles leading that comeback, it was him
going to JSN down the field and then.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
For the game winning go ahead touchdown as well.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
So obviously has a good connection there with the Seahawks
new number one.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Yes's your what's your favorite memory comparing the two Drew
Locke wrapping Gez on the sideline when he was with
the Broncos or the backpack celebration with Gino when he
led that comeback.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Well, my favorite memory is Dalton Riiser picking him up
after they beat the Chargers when he came up for
our first thing and doing you know like it was.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
It was a really cool moment and a good moment
for for all involved there.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
I think my favorite is going to be the the
Geno backpack thing, just because you knew that Gino Smith
appreciated what Drew had done in that moment because Gino
had lived through it.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
He'd been bounced around and you know, he'd come back
and done.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
All that, and so he was seeing his guy succeed
in his stead and knowing what that means to.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Somebody in that moment, and I football. It was a
football moment, right if you have been in the locker room,
that was a teammate moment.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
The jeezy thing is fun, it's good for the memes,
but at the end of the day, the backpack thing,
which you know, that was.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
That was it. I'm going jeezy.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
That's when he was a Bronco and I think he
gave Broncos country a glimpse in that moment of maybe
some joy, you know, having a good season in that
point in time.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
And that Chargers game. I remember that one.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
Too because of the crazy way it ended where he
had the PI to win it in the clutch. That
was a great way he kind of entered Broncos Country.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Yeah, I was right there on the sideline when he
you know, would pick up was let to stand.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
I'm in some of the photos.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
I'm in some of the photos there where he's doing
all that kind of that was fun real quick.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
I got a seventh one for the sick pack for you.
Gon't know if you guys saw this or not.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
But Titans corner to the Jerious Snead is facing a
lawsuit for a million dollars after an incident in the
parking lot of a car dealership from back in December.
I can't pronounce this guy's last name, but it's Nish Miamanana,
Christian whatever that he just pronounced. Says that Sneed or
his personal assistant shot at him while he was sitting
inside a Mercedes Benz on a dealer lot on December

(19:02):
sixth in Carrolltown, Texas.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
Which is a suburb of Dallas.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
No one was hit by bullets fired from a Lamborghini
Urus as it drove by one Legacy Motors attorning Levi
mccatherine said in a statement obtained by the APT Sneed
and his accomplice were arrested by Carroll Town Police Department
for aggravated assault with the deadly weapon. Mccathine also accused
Snead and a woman who identified herself as Sneed's mother
of threatening him ordering him not to cooperate with police

(19:26):
or retain an attorney. The proof is there, mccathryn said
in a statement to Walker. There is a video surveillance
from the dealership showing the car and the person who
opened fire.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
We want to know why this happened.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
We're thankful no one was shot, but we continue to
search for the reason behind this incident.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
Titan spokesman said.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
They're aware of the matter been in contact with NFL
security per league protocol. He filed the civil suit Februar
of twentieth in Dallas County, suing Steed and a defendant
listed as John Doe. The lawsuit calls the incident unprovoked
attack in cold blood and broad daylight, states the defendants
might have mistaken him for somebody else. He owns an
exotic car rental busines. This Titans traded for sneed last

(20:01):
marginally played in five games, four going on io or
the quad injury, spent its first four seasons with the Chiefs.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
That's insane. I mean, thankfully it didn't go worse. I
think that's great, but it's just crazy to me that
you could be, you know, one of the highest paid
cornerbacks in the week off this near record setting deal
with the Titans, and I mean, what are you doing
in broad daylight in the middle of the city trying
to shoot a guy? I mean, hopefully it's some misunderstanding,
but it definitely doesn't seem like that's the case based

(20:28):
on the evidence they're outlining here.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
It's certainly interesting to keep our eye on. Now we
come back.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Zach's got a new article up there on KOA, Colorado
dot com, and we're gonna get a chance to delve
into that here in just a minute.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Rockies Baseball Top of the Hour. This is a Brockos
County night here on KOWA.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Grant Smith back there behind the glass five six six
nine zero is the text line got out to Brian,
who's there on the text line.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
Rockies Baseball cut up Top of the Hour.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Jack on the call. You guys want to stick around
for that. Zack's got a new article up there on
Kwcolorata dot com and references the Toront Armstead comments that
he made on It Was a Good Morning Football or
candas it was Cams show where he said that he's
spoken to Sean Payton and uh, Sean Payton wanted him

(21:21):
to come coach. He called me yesterday and he's he
wants me to work with him or for him and
whatever capacity.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
So we have to we have to have another conversation.
And I told him, Sean, get off my phone. But
that's that's my that's my guy. Uh are you always.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
Hire You go enjoy your like golfing and knitting and
all that stuff, get bored and then go work for
Sean and go in a Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
Okay, Well see he didn't he didn't exactly tell me
what he wanted me to do, but he called me yesterday,
so he didn't exactly specify, but I think the application
was there. Sean Payton does when Sean Payton, when you're
in the Sean Payton gang, you're in Sean Vayton gang,
that's certainly a thing.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
It's just we've looked and we've.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Seen guys like Joe Lobardi, pe Carmichael, Darren Rizzy, Dennis
Allen to a lesser extent, although he's somewhere else right now.
You know, Sean has had a tough time keeping certain
coaches around him. I think some people saw by jumping
ship tweet not too long ago, which was referring to
coaches and not players simply coaches. It's difficult to got
to work, but if you're one of his guys, you

(22:24):
are absolutely one of his guys.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
And so that's that's sort of the thing.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
And I think it's interesting that Tron came out and said.

Speaker 4 (22:30):
That, certainly, and I think it's maybe worth considering at
the least, you know, the Broncos have some interesting developmental
options with Frank Crumb and Alex paul Cheski if you
look at you know, not that it's the one and
only measure of this sort of thing, but they're raft scores.
They're both very well testing athletes. So how did they
end up as udfas well? Because they're fairly raw, underdeveloped
the guys, they've got a ways to go. I think

(22:52):
what we saw from Paul Schesski this latest season was exciting,
but I think adding a guy like Tron Armstead, who's
you know, one of the best tackle of the twenty tens,
probably on the short list for all decade.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Team didn't make it, but you know, probably not.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
Far off, it would be a good addition and one
thing that really fueled that belief in me I was
looking for, you know, other comments from Armstead either about
his time with Peyton or young lineman coming in and
I remember the Dolphins drafted of course Patrick Paul in
the second round of last year, kind of seeing this
Armstead retirement coming down the pipe and wanting to prepare
for it.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Drafted.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
Paul Armstead was incredibly cool about that. You know, we've
seen the Aaron Rodgers or Brett Farvs of the world
kind of prickle at it, or even Joe Flacco, and
Armstead was nothing but supportive. One quote he said to
the media that I pulled for the article that I
liked was he wants to give any and everything to Paul.
He said, every tool that exists for him to be

(23:45):
successful and successful for a long time is what I'm
going to give him and everybody else in that room.
Any and everything that I can possibly give show, say,
see is going to be offered to him.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
And I don't know.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
I think that presence, even you know, with Alex Forsyth
obviously not Tack but still a young or Nick Carjulu,
some of the young up and coming interior alignment, I
think having that presence could be so valuable.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
And if Peyton saw.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
Something similar in Zach Streef to tab him as you know,
this future offensive line coach.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
I think that's turned out really well.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
I'd be willing to give him another shot and see
if Peyton's you know, a good evaluation of offensive line
coach talent.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Well. And that's the thing I don't think you can have.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
I don't think having the expertise of a guy like
the Ron Arms date in the room, I don't think
that's negative at all, you know, I think that's that's
an addition, having somebody that that caliber a player in there.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
I feel like that's only an addition, you know. It's
it's interesting to me.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Like I said, there's some guys, like there's some guys
that that Sean Beate You're that dude, Like you know,
Zack Streef, You're you're that dude, and he and those
guys tend to work with him pretty well. And then
you have turnover with other guys that just struggle to, you.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Know, to work with him.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
I I am in favor of guys that know how
to work with Seawan Bayton working with Sean Bayton, you know,
and so we have less turnover, we have fewer incidents
where people are trying to get out that kind of thing,
and so I am all for those kinds of situations,
and I think having him in here is like again
a great having a great player into bonus.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
Right yeah, And there's really no negative to it.

Speaker 4 (25:16):
You know, if it doesn't work out, it can just
be a training camp thing I did DeMarcus Ware. I
believe spend a training camp is a pass rush consultant.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Whatever the want is a trial training camp, you know,
internship whatever you want to call it.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
By Davis right before he got the permanent job as
linebacker's coach, he came in a few a little different with.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
The Will Hoyt thing. It was that created Vacan see.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
But yeah, but before you even got that for Sean
Payton to the Saints, but then came back as a
coach with the Broncos, Like, yeah, did he consult in
prior seasons before you getting at this year? But he
came into the internship program. I believe he was on
the coaching side Nick was doing. Nick did a scouting
internship last year. For people that remember that. You know,
Nick was off for a couple of weeks. That's why
he was off. He was with the Broncos doing a
little scouting internship. So you know there are Yeah, that

(25:59):
is one of those things Champagne does, you know, and
surrounds himself with with those kind of people, that kind
of thing, and and and hopefully that.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
That works out.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
I you know, again, this offensive line is going to
have He's going to have some turnover eventually. You've got
Mcglincheyan Powers who are paid like top tier players. But
if we're looking at this offensive line, I mean they
might be the weak links on this offensive line. Uh
So we got to get we got to get that part.
Shoring up Garrett Bowles is what Garrett Bules is. He's

(26:28):
he's been you know, solid for a number of years now.
You know when he turned it around. I think we
all know what Quid Minors is. We've all seen that.
Wattenburg stepped into the role pretty well, et cetera. It
was there with some worries about that kind of stuff,
but he stepped into that role pretty well. It's the
Ben Powers, Mike mclinchy thing we got to figure out,
and then who's going to replace them eventually? And like again,
having somebody like Armstead in there, I think only a
has value to the room.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
Yeah, and I wonder about a guy like Powcewski. I
thought they were very shallow going into this past season
on offensive line because they were going to be forced
to rely on, you know, a guy like Matt Parrott
who was banished for I'm a New York Giants team
desperate for offensive line help, and outside of him, it
was a bunch of udfas, And I thought all those
guys played very very well, which you know, attestament to

(27:10):
Zach Streef.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
But that's an interesting angle.

Speaker 4 (27:13):
You talk about how expensive mcglenchean powers are, and you know,
then maybe being the weaklings of the room, in the room,
if you were able to replace mclinchy's near twenty four
million dollar cap hit with a UDFA and feel good
about that spot, that'd be game changing. Even if those
guys are able to just stay around as death pieces.
Do you think they see a long term future with
Powcheski or or Crumb or do you think they're more

(27:35):
reservely developmental guy we'll see certainly has some monster size though,
which you know, obviously we've seen the Sean Payton is
kind of a size queen when it comes to uh,
when it comes to offensive lineman. You know, I think
Paal Shawski is closer to being a starter than Frank
Crumb is.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Well, we'll see how that how that shakes out. We've
seen him get some reps.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
Uh. The Broncos brought Ian Nash Jones, a garden swing
tackle from Texas State, for a Top thirty visit. That
could be a guy that maybe you're looking at the
draft in Day three. I talked to his head coach
DJ Kenney about him and he had nothing but rave
reviews about Nash. So if somebody keep your eye on
for the Day three for the drafts coming year for

(28:15):
the Broncos, Nash Jones out of Texas State.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Yeah, and they will be motivated next top season two
potentially make a move at either tackle or guard. They
will make or they'll free up rather eight point five
million at least by moving on from Mike McGlinchey and
eight point almost eight point seven million by moving on
from Ben Powers. Those are going to be their two
easiest avenues for freeing up a big bunch of cap

(28:39):
space next offseason. And they've got a lot of players
coming up next season, as we've talked about a lot
with Sutton and all that.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
You've got to be out from under the Russell Wilson deal.
You could pick up an additional roughly sixteen million between
those two, but you got to replace them. You got
to pay guys like Zach Allen, you got to pay
Nick Benito. Once you do those extensions really starts to
kick in next year. So and there's some of these
other things will start to kick in next year, just
the way they've done things and shifting the money around.
So you know, I think I think it's something to

(29:04):
keep your eye on. And I think that offensive line,
like I said, there's some mainstays there with bowls and
minors and Wattenberg who's a George Peyton guy. But the
other two I don't think they're going to be back
on additional contracts. I think Ben Powers of Micha mcglinchy,
when they find their replacements, I think they'll move on.

Speaker 4 (29:21):
And I think that's smart. I mean, it can make
a very tangible difference on this roster. We've talked a lot,
or you've talked a lot about how you know, Courtland
Sutton could very easily be gone this offseason if you are,
you know, between now and when that decision has to
come down, if you're able to build some sort of
plan for the future at Garden Tackle where hey, we
feel good as soon as twenty twenty six moving off

(29:42):
of Mike McGlinchey and Ben Powers. Again, that's fifteen sixteen
million dollars you just freed up two or over that,
like seventeen million, which you know Sutton's making around that
right now.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
That'll get you.

Speaker 4 (29:54):
Well over that thirty million dollar threshold where we're expecting
Sutton would come in at.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Yeah, So that's that's one of those things. I don't
know if they'll do the Sutton extension. We'll see.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
I think they're kind of hoping he'll just play out
the string this year and go from there.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
We'll see.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
The wide receiver market has now gotten to the point
where Sutton's going to be getting something like twenty.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
Eight twenty eight and a half million dollars a year unless.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
He takes it a huge home hometown discount. So that's
something to kind of keep your eye. We got a
little bit Friday showed that Rum had a try out
here in Denver. Rump was a Charger's fourth round pick
in twenty twenty one, played three seasons with the Charges
before missing all of last year with a foot injury.

(30:33):
It's twenty twenty three season also ended early when he
fractured his foot. Played total of thirty seven games for
the Chargers. Over the course of his career, rom Fast
thirty nine tackles, three sacks, a pass defended, and a
fumble recovery during his time in Los Angeles. The Broncos
did not make Rump an offer after his tryout today.
I thought that was interesting though. I mean, you are
a team that's fairly deep at the edge, at least

(30:56):
between Nick Bonito and obviously out the Cooper, and then
you've got Jonah Ellis who you drafted last year, and
then you've got Andrea Tillman who you signed out of
the the UFL. They they've got a four man rotation there.
Plus you've got Sanders's got the versatility to go there
Drew Sanders, although he's going back to inside backer for

(31:16):
this coming season.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Certainly certainly interesting to to see their try it out
edge guys and at least taking a look and be
in the mix.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
I just like that we're at the position now after
these last couple of years, but we're just looking to
add depth.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
You know.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
It seems like We're pretty solid at most positions now
and now we're just looking to add pieces that maybe
can bring a little something different to our team instead
of looking to fill positions of need.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
Nice to be in the luxury right as it were.
So that's something that keep your eye on. Five six, six,
nine zeros in text line, I uh looking forward to
the Rockies and the Podres tonight. Of course, we got
the Nuggets taking on the Grizzlies here as well. Jamal
Murray will be back for the Denver Nuggets.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
Yeah, I was surprised by that. I thought they might
hold him out until the playoff games.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
I'll say this will be available for the Denver Nuggets.

Speaker 1 (32:09):
He didn't say that he was gonna play, so that
he was available to play, So that that I guess
technically I should rephrase there and make sure just to
make sure it'll get coach speaked there on that particular one.
But the Nuggets they need this game and this would
be a second chance for David Adaman to prove his
metals and he deserves the head coaching gig as he
is the interim right now. Several reports out there that

(32:31):
the Nuggets would look at Bob Myers for the interim
general manager role. I think that'd be such a perfect
would be but you got a pony up for that,
I mean they would, they would have to up pay him.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
We'll do it for that waiting on. I'm not opposed
one independent of that.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
One of the things that they've looked at possibly that,
you know, if if Adaman doesn't work it out, bringing
in Chris Quinn.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
So that's you know, that's that's a name to keep
your eye on.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
He's the assistant with Miami Heat under eRx Spolstra played
in the NBA, played the euro Leagues, played Russia, so
he's certainly got experience with euro and you know, foreign
players obviously. I think we've seen Spolster's philosophy, so he's
got experience with that. So it'll be it'll be interesting
to see, you know, what they uh, what they wind
up doing, what all said and done.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
Yeah, I'm very interested to see how this plays out.
But I mean you and Dave were talking about it
when you were filling in on KOA Sports yesterday. My
dream scenario would be that they make a magical run
in this playoff and Adaman's your guy. I mean, when's
the job outright, he's highly covenant, He's well respected around
the league. So I mean, if he can prove that,

(33:42):
you know, some people are great with numbers and some
people are great with strategy, but if he can prove
that he's a leader as well, I mean, I think
that's your dream scenario if you're the Cronkys.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
The one thing you worry about with the interims like that, though,
is that rall around the interim philosophy and if it
doesn't clean out the culture in that locker room, which
you know a lot of times when you're moving on,
you want to make sure you do.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
But I don't know. We'll see.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
Adaman seems to certainly came out and won his coaching debut.
We'll see what he is able to do against the
Memphis Grizzlies here at home tonight, Grizzlies obviously fighting for
their playoff life as well. Appreciate you guys listening to
a short pre Rockies edition here of Broncos Country Tonight.
Coming up next, Cold Rocks taking on the San Diego Padres.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
Jack and Jerry are gonna be on the call. Hopefully
it's touch them all time. Thanks for listening.
