Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, what's going on? And hit me in with you
and I've got on the phone right now the rock
goddess herself, I say, the most beautiful woman in metal
as we speak, Maria Brink from in in this moment, girl,
how are you?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Oh, thank you for your kind words. I'm wonderful, Thanks
so much for having me.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Now, the god Mode Tour Part two is in full swing.
I think tonight you guys are in Shreveport, Louisiana yet
and you guys are going out on tour right now
with Kim Dracula, Nathan James and Mike's dead right. How's
the tour going so far?

Speaker 2 (00:36):
It's going great. It's a lot of fun. And this
month is actually the ten year anniversary for our Black
Widow album, so we've brought back like a lot of
songs from that album that we haven't done like visuals
for or even played the song in so many years.
So that's actually been really fun as well. And pulling

(00:57):
up pulling out a bunch of new bells and whistles.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, now you know this is now your eighth album
right now. I read an article recently that how is
god Mode different from your Blood album?

Speaker 2 (01:12):
I mean, It's just an evolution, you know, music and artists.
You know, it evolves and it shifts and it changes,
and a lot of our albums are also sparked off
of kind of emotionally, like what you're going through in
your life or where you're at and all those types
of things. But I think that they were a lot
alike in like the ways of we're always trying to

(01:35):
be innovative, you know, we're always trying to push ourselves
to do something exciting and experimental and what can we,
you know, keep evolving into. So it's been my honestly
one of my favorite albums since we did the Blood album.
But we're getting ready to start writing a new album
here soon, so I'm actually already writing new music and

(01:56):
it's pretty exciting.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Wow wow, Well, you know, I already love I love Purge,
I love Sanctify Me. And of course my all time favorite,
my all time favorite from from like collaborations was when
you did with with Papa Roas's song Gravity. But I
hear that Spencer from Einstein Kills did something with you
with the song Damaged.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yeah, he was on their album as well, and he
was the only person we collaborated with on that last album.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
So wow, it's really cool.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I'm always I love collaborating. I loved also collaborating with
Papa Roads. It's it's exciting to like collide different you know,
energies and different people and they come together and it
creates this whole, you know, new thing and I love it.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
So if you could, if what is your dream collaboration,
then who would you love to do a collaboration with?

Speaker 2 (02:45):
I mean, nine in Snails and Death Zones are my
two all time favorite bands, and Tool as well from
my third But so then, but you know, I almost,
I almost, it's almost. I don't want to get jaded
by anything or anyone because I've met so many people
in my career and sometimes most of the time it's

(03:07):
actually a great experience. But once in a bhull moon,
you meet someone maybe you look up to or you admire,
and maybe they're not so kind or sweet, and it
can actually sometimes sabotage your love for the music. If
someone is like not what you maybe put them on
that pedestal to be And.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
So I don't know.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Sometimes I wonder, because they're my favorites, maybe I should
never work with them.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Well, you know, it's but that I've met Chino a
couple of times. The nicest guy I think.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
I think, oh yeah, I got to meet him. I did,
so I have nothing but good things to say about
Gino as well. I never met tret Resner. I met
Gino and I've met Maynard, and I will say both
of them were really kind and nice. So Trent's the
only one I haven't.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
He's like at the top there.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Never met him, but I'm sure he's super cool. And
if I could do an album with front Rest, I mean,
or even a song, it would be the you know,
the absolute dream for me.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Well, you never know, you never know. You we're talking,
I know we're talking with Maria from in this moment.
Of course, it's happening this Sunday Concrete Street Amphitheater. Tickets
are on sale right now Concrete Street dot net and
of course at the box office. Is gonna be a
great show. You know, how did how did you feel
when you found out that one of your songs was
going to be on John Wick Chapter four?

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Oh it was so grateful and so appreciative. I mean,
anytime something like kind of big happens for the band,
I'm always kind of just left in awe and just
like and had no idea. It comes out of nowhere
and you're just like, oh my goodness. It the same
when we got nominated for a Grammy, and like certain
things that happen, you just feel grateful and filled with gratitude.

(04:45):
And I kind of just try to keep myself in
that mindset. I feel like, you know, and you keep
bringing about.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Those positive things.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
But it was a dream, you know. It's part of
like a bucket list, you know, you want to be
on these big, iconic, awesome movie Wes and Tyler Bates
did the soundtrack for them, and he's become our friend
over the last few years and we worked with him
on different things and he's just such a talented composer
and that's who we actually got to work with to

(05:13):
create that.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
So I also wanted to ask, how's your painting going,
because I know that you also do paintings on the
side with of course Marie Brings Wonderland. Tell me a
little bit about the paintings. Have you been painting lately?

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yeah, I have not really been. It's been really more
just art and music and things of the sort. I
stopped Maria Brings Wonderland a while ago now, but I
actually am getting ready to open my some sort of
like positive, kind of artistic and empowering kind of page.
I'm trying to figure out how to do it right now,
but I'm excited to kind of bring that back to life.

(05:46):
And I do need to paint more.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
It brings me joy, like playing the piano and painting
or doing arts like I don't know, it definitely brings
me a lot of joy and peace to like, you know,
it's almost my tative.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Yes, I completely agree. We're talking with Marie brings from
in this moment. Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday.
I gotta ask I'm gonna ask you off off the
wall question just because what do you want for? What
do you want for Christmas?

Speaker 3 (06:14):
I don't even know. Everybody says that I'm so hard
to stop for because I'm one of those people that
if I want it, I'm gonna buy it, like you know,
So I don't like sit around kind of wanting things.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
If I really want it, like I'll just get it.
And so I don't know, I think I like more
of the personal things because you know, stuff that you
can just buy anywhere and buy it's like whatever. When
somebody makes you something, I don't know, it's to me,
it's such a special whether they painted it or they
put something together or photo and a frame, I don't know.
I really my favorite things are the personalized kind of

(06:49):
you know, they have that magic touch to them.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Wow, I like that. That's actually kind of cool.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
It's that.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
One of the things that's like a highlights for me
is when I get something a drawing from now my
grand daughters that they bring.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Oh that's beautiful.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah, my granddaughter. You know.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Yeah, artwork. People making you things, you can save it
forever and it's like part of their soul and it's beautiful.
It's so sweet.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Yeah, well you're sweet and we love you today and
we can't wait to see you on Sunday. Is there anything?

Speaker 3 (07:23):
What?

Speaker 1 (07:23):
What is the one thing that people can look for it?
I mean not giving away any spoilers, but yeah, what
can they what can they expect on Sunday? Oh?

Speaker 2 (07:33):
You know we're bringing This is our last tour for
the god Mode album cycle. Like I said, we're about
to disappear and do a new album. So we really
put our heart and soul into our live show, especially
with all the extra bells and whistles of the Black
Widow songs. We're playing songs that we haven't played in
like eight years, so people can expect to get visuals

(07:56):
and a live show and things that they haven't seen
from us in a really long time and won't see
probably for a really long time. We have a massive
video wall, we have two nine foot none mascots on
stage for a little bit. We have nuns, we have
all kinds of bells and whistles. It's a really theatrical,

(08:19):
spectacular experience. We work so hard to put on this show,
and I think everyone's going to have a good time
of it. And again, especially those things from our Black
Widow album that we haven't done in forever, like National Born,
Sinner and Yeah and Sex World, Barbie and like a
bunch of these songs.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yeah, you know it's it's I swear it's I've told
people this before. You don't just put on a concert.
You put on a show, and it's something that you
will never forget. I've seen you dozens of times, and
every single time you come up with something new that
just amazes me. Every time I see you live, I mean, I'm.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Yeah, I put I pushed hard.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
I do.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Yeah, I swear, I swear you could probably put on
Broadway show with just your concert yourself, and like on Broadway,
you could do a concert like then it would be on.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
Toadway or like a Vegas residency. Yeah, I do dream
of that someday. So maybe it'll come to life someday.
But I love the theatrics. I love the larger than
live show. And the thing is, there are so many
amazing and talented bands out there and live shows out

(09:26):
there that are coming through town all the time, and
I got to just fight hard to keep myself in
the game. And what about our show makes us unique
and special from all the other shows?

Speaker 3 (09:36):
And what about ours?

Speaker 2 (09:38):
We have to keep it evolving because if they came
and they saw us, and they saw one exact show,
they don't want to come back necessarily just to see
the same show over again. So I'm continuously pushing and evolving.
And it's all for our fans. I mean, we're just
so grateful to you know, be having this ten year
anniversary for Black Widow in general, and having all of

(10:00):
our fans commit back to the shows and being supportive
to us. And so we're selling out shows and to
be this far into our career and still have this amazing,
loving fan base. I mean, it's just everything, it really is.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Well, we're really looking forward to seeing you on Sunday.
It's gonna be something. Of course, everybody I think is
going to have a great time there. Like I said,
tickets are still on sale Concrete Street dot Net at
the Concrete Street Amphitheater box office. Looking forward to any
last words you'd like to pass on to about anything, No,
we just.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Can't wait to see everybody and share this special night
and bring our big, spectacular show to you all. Thank
you so much for jumping on with me.
