Speaker 1 (00:01):
That's not get any more classic than That's Show Me Love.
Robin asked one of three five K to beat them
New York the Hollywood Hamilton Show. The Kat Morning Crew.
All right, we're going back about three and a half
months on Fraud Friday this week because we finally got
the update on the automotive scam. This is one of you,
or definitely somebody you know. I've been through this. It's

(00:21):
the automotive scam and we talked to Stan last night.
We've got the three month update coming up right after
the call. Here we go this week's Fraud Friday.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
You are about to hear a feature that was created
to expose the scammers, thieves, and con artists among us.
The dialogue and temperament about to be used by Hollywood
Hamilton does not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of iHeartMedia.
This is Fraud Friday.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Three. Yes, did you know that automotive scams one of
the most used scams in the United States today?

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Yeah, I don't doubt it.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Everybody in the Tri State there is knows a friend
or has a family men. Remember, everybody knows somebody who's
been a victim of this sort of scam, the automotive scam.
And I've got this guy on the phone right now
here on Fraud Friday. His name is Stan from Yonkers.
Stan are you are you with us?

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Welcome to fraud Friday, my man. So tell us, let's
get right into this really quickly. What's happening with you?
What happened?

Speaker 5 (01:20):
There's a shop by us And it's not just me,
this is what my friends too. These guys are the
biggest scammers going. My buddy board his car in for
a simple tire rotation, and he told him that he
had to get all new tires and there it is
their job to upsell. But I had heard about this
shop doing some bad stuff, so I set them up.

(01:40):
I sent my wife in with the car and I
asked for an oil change. Now the car wasn't even
due for an oil change, but I wanted to see
what would happen. So they changed the oil and they
used they used to recycled oil.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
One of the big ones, one of the big scams out.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
How do you know? How do you know if they've
done that?

Speaker 5 (01:56):
You can tell because when you pull a dipstick out,
the oil should be nice and smooth, and oil should
be a nice clear color. Yeah, but instead it was
very thin. It was very black, and you could feel
the granules I get like the metal shaving.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yeah, this is why you know they think the wife.
The wife comes in, the wife doesn't know to do
something like that. You know they're gonna Yeah, I.

Speaker 6 (02:18):
Don't know anything about oil. I just change it.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I don't care.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Well you ask question, Okay, you did ask.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
But not all females are dumb like that.

Speaker 6 (02:26):
Okay, but it's good to know that because now you
guess what I'm gonna be doing.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
I'm gonna be checking now right.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
In addition to that, they changed break fluid. They gave
her a new battery, which she didn't need. They changed
the air filter. There was no reason for any of it.
They hit her withuld have built for three hundred and
twenty six bucks.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Oh they took her. Wow, they took her. You're gonna
but there's a lot of people that don't know. They're
just gonna pay it. It happens every day, all day.
And what company was its motive? Who was the individual
you were dealing with?

Speaker 5 (02:56):
She dealt with a guy his name Tanks had gone there.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
He's going to be good. It's gonna be great.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
His real name is but he goes by the name.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
First of all, what are you looking to get out
of this phone call? We've got to define exactly what
you need and what you want out of this phone call.
Frida Friday, I.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Would love ever to know what this guy does. But
you give me my three hundred and twenty six dollars
back ninety eight cents whatever the whole bill was, I'm
happy and we'll walk away. But if you don't want
to give it back, I think he needs to be reported.
I also want to put this guy in notice.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Okay, so you understand Stan. Understand Stan, but you do
understand Stan that if we get him to pay you
the three hundred and twenty six dollars and ninety eight
cents refund you, he's total all your money back. We
can't report him to the authorities in which we we're
about to threaten him with. We're about to really come

(03:48):
down hard on him with a mass amount of resources
that we have people that we know in different agencies.

Speaker 7 (03:54):
There are several agencies that we can go to now,
not just the Better Business Bureau, but local authorities, the
state attorney general. We have all kinds of options. We
can come down hard on this guy exactly.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
But if we can't do that, we're not gonna call
our resources. If he pays you your money back, We're
just gonna put him on notice.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Standy, he does need to be put on He does
need to be put on blast about this.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
No, no doubt. Are you kidding?

Speaker 2 (04:20):
You're listening to Fraud Friday with the KTU Morning Crew.
We'll be right back with part two when Hollywood and
Marie make the call. Buckle up because things are about
to get rough. This is Fraud Friday.

You have to come in.

Speaker 6 (05:38):

We're with w KT Radio and you're on something called
fraud Friday. You might want to bear with us right now.
You might want to bear with this phone call, because
if you end up hanging up on us, or you

(06:41):
don't want us to air the phone call, you could
be in a lot of trouble with us. Not only
a lot of trouble with us, but the vast resources
that we have in order to take care of the
fraud that you're committing, no doubt a daily basis. Oh yeah,
staying are you there?

Speaker 4 (06:56):
Do you remember me?

Speaker 5 (06:59):
We've spoke on the Yeah. You took advantage of my wife.
She came in with the Fort Explorer. He dropped the oil. Yeah, yeah,
you changed transmission fluid. You gave her a new new battery,
brake fluid, all this nonsense that she didn't need.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 5 (07:15):
You know exactly what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Okay, his wife, Stan's wife came in for a simple
oil change. You kicked her back with low quality recycled oil.
She needed a new battery, all kinds of fluids. I
think three hundred and twenty six dollars and ninety eight cents.
The car went back to Stan. Stan checked the oil
out and it was definitely old, recycled, grungy, grimy oil.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
What are you thinking?

Speaker 1 (07:39):
You know exactly what I'm talking about. Stan has examples
of people all over the Yonkers area, all over the
west Chester County area that have come in and that
have been taken advantage of your service. Now, no, yeah,
all right, go ahead, I want you to. I want
you to explain yourself.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
That's not it.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
Be good.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
I mean, I'm a I'm a loof stop here, and
I take care. I'm customers. The lady came in, he
needed something. And the stuff I did to a car,
I mean it needed all that, it needed it all.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
Are you absolutely kidding me? I mean I I had
touch the car.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
No, I agree.

Speaker 5 (08:16):
He gave me that bill and handled it this way.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
That's for sure. I've been doing this all my life.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
I handle my Okay, cause all right, here's the deal.
You charged your three hundred and twenty six dollars and
ninety eight cents. He wants his money back, he wants
his money to Okay. Now, I want you to listen
to me very carefully, because Maria, I'm not.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Gonna do it.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Listen, Listen, he's gotta do it. He's gonna do it.
Listen to me. Marie and I have incredibly vast resources
in different agencies in New York City. Okay, I can
start with the State Attorney General's Office, Latitia James Boom.
I'm gonna make the call today, the Federal Trade Commission,
Better Business Bureau, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the
Consumer Fraud Protection Bureau, State Department of Motor Vehicles. You

(08:59):
you listen to me. This is this is what he wants.
He wants his three hundred and twenty six dollars and
ninety eight cents, and you're put on notice or I'm
going to start making calls today.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
We're dead serious. I can't even imagine.

Speaker 6 (09:13):
I can't even fathom how many people you have completely
screwed over.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
I don't screw my friends, screwed over them.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Yeah, and that's another thing, Stan, It's not only his wife.
There is a handful of other people in the community.
They know what you're doing, they know what you're up to.
What is it you're looking I just told you what
we're looking for. We're looking for our money back at
three hundred and twenty six dollars and ninety eight cents.
At that point, we won't go to the agencies that

(09:44):
I've just described a minute ago.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
You want to roll the dice and take that chance.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
You do what you want.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
Where do we go from here.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
I'm gonna put you on hold and you and Stan
are gonna walk this through with one another.

Speaker 6 (09:57):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Samantha will be on the line with you, and you're
gonna be recorded, and you're gonna pay the money back,
and we're not going to any agencies.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
You're not doing this anymore. You're gonna clean up.

Speaker 5 (10:07):
Your act, give me my money back. Don't have to
deal with this guy anymore. I will be sending people
in to make sure you're doing what's right.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Samantha. You got this, I got it all right. Fraud Friday, Hollywood,
Hamilton and the k T Morning Crew will be right back.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Have you been scammed? Taken advantage of? Will being a
victim of fraud? The Morning Crew is here to help
tell us your story. KTU dot com slash fraud Friday.
That's KTU dot com slash fraud Friday, and believe me,
they will get it done.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
All right. Kt you the automotive scam Fraud Friday. Here's
the three and a half month updates. So producing Anthony
last night spoke with Stan last night regarding the dealings
of that man you heard on this week's Fraud Friday, who,
by the way, wants to continue for obvious reasons, wants
to remain nameless. We told this guy we were gonna
keep an eye open for him in any care option,

(11:00):
and basically the guy failed. He continues with extreme prejudice,
ripping off everybody in the neighborhood. The entire neighborhood got
together and contacted the Consumer Fraud Protection Bureau and yes,
we had an agreement with him, we wouldn't rat him
out if there were no more reports on him. Stan
told us that there were a number of more incidents
regarding this this automotive business. So the Consumer Financial Protection

(11:23):
Bureau and the Better Business Bureau got together and currently
a major investigation going on right now with this guy.
Stan told us last night, the guy's business is still open,
but very very little time left for this guy. They're
shutting him down. Looks like they are going to shut
this guy down.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
He was warned.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
He failed, and that was that Fraud Friday, Every Friday,
eight twenty one right here on KTU
