This is Fraud Friday.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
And what an interesting piece of fraud we got. Of course,
this is I don't know if you're just joining us,
ladies and gentlemen. It's where we help get listeners back
their money after they've been scammed, they've been duped, they've
been taken by a piece of fraud. And this week
we have a woman by the name of Vicky on
the line with us right now who brought to our
attention a scam that I had no idea in existence,

(00:43):
the Salvation Army impersonator scam, commonly known as the Red
Kettle scam. Vicky, you there, thanks for having me on,
So tell us a little bit about We understand you
caught a family member involved with this Salvation Army impersonator scam,
which I went to invest When I found out about
this a couple of days ago, I went online, I
investigate this is actually a thing, right, you have a cousin.

(01:06):
Can you tell us a little bit about your cousin.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Yeah, my cousin has been impersonating a Salvation Army worker
with that red signature kettle jar. I actually didn't catch
him at first. My friend Stephanie recognized him and said, Hey,
I think I saw your cousin Roder cutting money. I
thought he was under the.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Yeah, that's what producer Anthony and Samantha told me that
you don't want your cousin to go to jail. You
want us to scare him. Now, normally we get people's
money back. This is a little different.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
So how long has he been out there taking people's money?
Do you have any idea?

Speaker 3 (01:42):
It was around Thanksgiving that I first heard about it
from my friend and I. We have all tried to
get him on the right direction. Everybody has tried, my father,
my mother, you know, his mom and my mom's sister,
other uncles, try to get him a job like we
have all we've.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Collecting money. This is you know, Friday is a feature
where we go after these people and we get people's
money back. That's the whole idea here. Anybody got any
ideas here? This is kind of not like a normal
fraud Friday. This is different this but for the holidays.
I say, we stopped this guy, right, Let's make sure
giving you earn money to a fake collector? Yeah, yeah,

(02:25):
no stealing from people who are in need? This is uh.
I think this is a new low that this guy
what's his name, Roger? Roger stealing from stealing from people
in need? Wow.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
We just I'm so done trying to help him. Everyone's done.
I just I don't want to go to jail. But
he needs to be scared. He needs to stop this.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
So you know, I need, first of all, tell me
where he lives, because I know the angle I'm gonna take.
Tell me where the guy lives?

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Where does he fifty five Well Road, Uniondale, New York.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
He lives over in Uniondale. Okay, what kind of what
kind of car does this guy drive?

Speaker 3 (02:59):
I think it's the Corolla Cola.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Do you have anything else I can use, anything off
the top of your mind that I might be able
to use as a private investigator, because I'm gonna go
after this guy really really hard. What else can you
tell me? I think? Uh?

Speaker 3 (03:17):
On such Okay, So on Sunday he came over and
he whipped out five hundred dollars worth of dollar bills
and showed us to it. And five hundred dollar bills
don't belong to him, they belong to people in need.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
So what you're you're saying, he at you're at, You're
at dinner, and he whipped out a massive wad of bills.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Yeah, and he was smirking, and I thought it was
unusual at the time, I'm like, what the he Why
does he have five hundred dollars worth of dollar bills?
That's so weird. And then I put it together because
that's when my friend Stephanie was like, Hey, I saw
your cousin Roger, you know, collecting money for the Salvation
are me. He thought he was on disability.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
So he's not a he's not a stripper. He's not
a stripper. Not a stripper, I got it. So that's
