Speaker 1 (00:00):
Broncos game last night was big for us, going to
the playoffs, bringing back the vintage uniforms KOA, being celebrated
for our hundredth birthday.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Yeah, and our very own Dave Logan had the honors
of planting the flag prior to the big game. If
you haven't seen that video yet, go to KA Colorado's
Instagram page and check it out because it's pretty amazing.
Boys of the Broncos. Dave Logan joining us now on
the KA Common Spirit Health hotline. Dave, I got to
know what was a cooler experience for you planting that
flag or just your absolute perfect timing of running back

(00:27):
up to the booth just in time to call that
first Broncos touchdown of the game.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Well, I you know what, Good morning guys. I actually
I felt a little bit bad for Rick because as
soon as I sat down, the very next play was
the first touchdown of the game, with Mems catching the
It was a thirty two yard screen pass. So now listen,
it was just a great complete day. I felt great

(00:56):
for a lot of people that have been in the
organization for a long time, the new ownership, players, coaches, fans.
I think in particular, diehard Bronco fans that have lived
and died with every single season. Been a lot of
dieing lately since twenty fifteen. So back to the playoffs.

(01:17):
This team has earned that opportunity and now it's it's
on the Buffalo and see what they can do there.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Before we take a look at the game, Dave, I
want to know about your mental and physical preparation for
sticking the flag. What was your focus, what was your
you know, again, the work going into that. When we
were doing the video, I think I saw you say
I hope you don't screw this up or something like that.
So I just want to know mentally, where were you
at when you were playing empower Field and the way that.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
You were able to get back up to the booth
was impressive.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yeah, that was amazing. I've been an Empowered Field obviously
for every single game since it opened in two thousand
and one. I had no idea where I was going. Fortunately,
one of the Bronco but personnel led us down through
the bowels of the stadium and up and it was fine.
The truth of the matter is, right before they start

(02:08):
the video and I didn't even know they did this
right because at the first part of the game, I'm
concentrated on getting ready for the game, so I didn't
know they had a flag sort of ceremony things. So
when I get up there and just as I'm about
to step up on the stage and wave the flag
for you know, not very long and then stick the flag,

(02:29):
I say, so, I want to make sure I stick
the flag right here, and she goes, no, no, no,
that's where the smoke comes out. So I probably really
had I been allowed to do that by myself, I
probably could have caused some sort of huge fire, I'm guessing.
But I stuck in the sand. It started to buckle
a little bit. I felt sort of bad about that,

(02:50):
but now it was cool. It was kind of fun
to be out with the fans. I had forgotten really
how loud that stadium can get right before the game,
so I was out there for the player introduction and
the flyovers, and man, it was really it was really
just a cool day for sure.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
And like I mentioned, the video is awesome. A lot
of the fans and the stands look at you like
a rock star. In that moment. It's your plant in
the flag.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
It's really to figure out, like, who the hell is
this guy.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
I love it, Dave. Let's pivot over to what we
saw yesterday. Obviously, you can make all the excuses that
you want. The naysayers can say, well, Chiefs didn't start
their starting players, YadA, YadA, whatever. But what did we
see from the Broncos that showed and proved this was
a playoff earning team.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Well, I think they did exactly what they had to do,
what they should have done. Chiefs didn't play some of
the guys. We understand that that's the way it goes.
They've earned the right to said some of their guys,
and the Broncos had to come out and take control
of the game and then win the game and play
well so they go into the playoffs with a little
bit of momentum. So people can say whatever they want to,

(03:57):
It's true Kansas City didn't play, you know, a number
of their guys. But I thought Denver was efficient yesterday.
I thought bon Nicks was very sharp. I mean, they
played exactly like they should play if truly they're a
playoff team. And again, now you look at Buffalo. Buffalo's
a really good team. They've been exceptionally good at home

(04:18):
for a long time. And Josh Allen is one of
the two leading candidates for the MVP Award. That said,
I think the Broncos have a puncher's chance back there.
I think they're playing good football and they can rush
the passer. What they've got to do is try to
find a way easier said than done, not to let

(04:38):
Josh Allen beat them almost by himself, and a good
running game as well.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
If I use the college analogy, let's just say the
regular season is like getting your Batchelor's degree. Playoffs is
like a master's and beyond that if you can do that.
But having said that, Dave, should we stop being surprised
with bon Nicks and how he's played? Should we lay
like this guy really is good and nothing he does
surprise us anymore?

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Well, I mean, I think it's okay to be surprised
because it's his rookie year. Marty, I think that. I mean,
I think he's a good young player, and I think
the ceiling is high with him. So you know, I
don't think anybody expected bow Knicks to play the way
that he has played this year. I mean, I think
he finished with twenty nine touchdowns and twelve interceptions. He's

(05:20):
a guy and I said this during the broadcast yesterday.
He's a guy that is a better athlete than I
think a lot of people thought. He's faster than people
thought and willing to use his legs to keep plays alive.
And he's just smart. We knew what we thought he
was smart. We thought he was game savvy, played over
sixty games in college. But yeah, he's a very good

(05:41):
young player. Is good in terms of a rookie quarterback,
He's as good as I've seen for quite some time.
And I know Jayden Daniels is out there, But in
terms of talking about the Broncos, I think he gives
you a lot of hope that that position has been
solidified for the future.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Dave our social media pool question for today, were you
surprised that the Broncos made the playoffs? Right now, it
seems like a lot of KA listeners are saying somewhat surprised.
Did you have any hesitation, any question of what this
season would look like?

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Well, I thought it had to go pretty dog one
well for them to make the playoffs. I did think,
you know, we talked about it earlier before the season started.
The over and undertotal in Las Vegas on this team
was five and a half. I felt pretty confident they
could go over five and a half. But to sit
here and say, hey, they found a way to get
in the playoffs, I think that's a credit to all

(06:31):
those people out there, coaches and players in particular. That
And there are some games where you can go back
and say, you know what, they should have won that one.
I mean, they had a field goal blocked against Kansas
City and the last play of the game. Now, on
the other side, the Jets kicker missed a kick that
would have won the game in New York, and so
there's always given take in the league. But yeah, I'm

(06:53):
somewhat surprised that they were able to have a successful
season with double digit victories as they did.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Playing with house money, as we like to say, Dave,
final question, you kind of alluded to it. Look, Josh
Allen is a great player, but these Bills. We went
there last year and beat the Bills, and I realized
it doesn't maybe translate into this year. It's a different
makeup a Bronco team, maybe not too dissimilar to a Buffalo,
But we really this is not impossible. This is not

(07:21):
a game that we can't win, right, No.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
I think it's a game again the two, and it's
a good way to put it. I think the Broncos
have a puncher's chance. I mean, Josh Allen is and
I said it during the broadcast yesterday's a guy that
dresses in the phone booth. I mean he does some
amazing things where you're like, Okay, how did he possibly
do that? You also had cooked the running back to
the mix. He is a guy that if he gets out,

(07:46):
he's not going to get caught. So, I mean, they've
got some weapons. But I mentioned the Ravens have nine
Pro Bowl players this year. The Bills have two. So
I think this is one where the Broncos have to
play well and they've got to get a couple breaks.
But no, I think they absolutely have a bunch of
chance to go back there and find a way to
win that game.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
The Broncos take on the Bills in Buffalo Sunday, kickoff
eleven o'clock. Our time here on KOA voice of the
Broncos now professional a flag stabber. Yeah, Dave Logan, Thanks Dave,
appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
