Speaker 2 (00:10):
It's great to catch up with you as always, my friend.
How are you.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Man? Life is perfect. Let's just let's just you know,
let's just put it that way. We're on an ungodly
college basketball heater, finding these home dogs that don't want
an outright. I am twelve and two, my last fourteen
and and then super Sunday. I'm trying to go to
twenty seven and six with this god forsaking game. So
(00:35):
I call it god forsaken because you know, you had
two weeks just to let your brain, yes fry. I'd
like to just get like some mushrooms and head up
to the top of the mountain the chief O Waka
Waka and just kind of let it, let it fly.
What would you, Jenny, Well, would.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
You see Aaron Rodgers up there? Just let him know
where we say?
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Hi? Unreal, I mean unreal in Costa Rica, no less
with my my new wife I meant a year and
a half ago and remarried and just a absolute last
will we want the golden ticket on that one. But
that's a whole nother show. You know, we were in
Costa Rica and we're in a sorrow and the town
over is where they he does this whole big shindig.
(01:15):
So pretty crazy. But you know, you get this point
on Friday to two days for the game. You just
want it to be played. Now that you've analyzed it,
talked about it so many radio shows every side, this, that,
and the other thing. You can make such a strong
case for both sides. But inside that, I think I've
found the Holy grill with with how I'm looking at
this game and what I think is gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
All right, well, let's get into it again. Brandon Lane
joining us, Rick Lewis, Ryan Edwards. All right, So I
mean I don't know you want to You don't go
big picture. How you feeling about this, how you feeling
about the Chiefs and a threepeat? What angle are you
coming at that? At least the line because it keeps
moving towards the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Here you have to pick, and I don't think it's
going to go off of that. You know, in super
Bowls when the points spread has been four points or
less the straight up winners twenty and against the spread,
So the point spread doesn't matter. Pick the winner, you
got the winner. And that's kind of where I think
it was going to be at, whether that line was
one and a half two again four points or less,
(02:12):
twenty three and against the spread as a straight up winter.
So off of that, Phillies had the number one overall
defense in the NFL two thousand, Ravens had that they
beat New York thirty four to seven. Twousand and two,
Bucks had that they beat Oakland forty eight twenty one,
two thousand and three. Patriots had that they beat Carolina
thirty two twenty nine but didn't cover the four and
a half five and then the twenty thirteen Seattle Seahawks,
(02:34):
which you guys know what happened there. No use, no
use repeating here, thank you. So that vodes well for
Philly's defense. And so when you look at that, you
look at the fact that they came here two years
ago against the Chiefs, Jalen Hurt second year put up
thirty five on Spagnola, most for a losing team in
Super Bowl history. So certainly Philly won't be nervous. They
(02:57):
will be confident. They have the better defensive line, they
have the better defense, they have a better offensive line,
and they have the better run game. So on paper,
this has a lot to do with the Super Bowl
against Tampa Bay, where the d line of Tampa Bay
just dominated Mahomes. He could do nothing and twenty seven.
You know, thirty one to nine was your final. Now
that's the Philly side of things. On the Casey side
(03:20):
of things, Andy Reid two weeks to prepare Mahomes three
out of four in the Super Bowl, Mahomes three points
or less eight and against the spread in the playoffs.
Head coaches meeting for the second time in the Super Bowl,
fifth time that's happened previous four. The coach that won
the first meeting won the second. Chuck N'll over Tom
(03:40):
Landry in the seventies, Jimmy Johnson over Levy in the eighties,
Tom Coughlin of A Belichick in the two thousands, and
most recently Andy Reid over Kyle Shanahan. So you have
that going well for the Kansas City Chiefs. So Vic
Fangio Owen nine versus Mahomes Owen six is head coach
at Denver owing to his defensive coordinator of Miami. He
was hired as a defensive consultant by the Eagles when
(04:04):
they met in the Super Bowl two years ago. Fangio
O nine against Mahomes most certainly the best defense he's
had to face Mahomes in the nine tries he's been
affiliated going against him, so on paper, that's both sides
of the painting.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
Hey, Brandon, it's Rick Lewis. Thanks for coming on. You
used to join us on a regular basis. NA Dave
and Kathy Lee. Best coach best quarterback scenario. This burned
me in the AFC Championship game. I was all in
on Buffalo, all my parlays wheeled around Buffalo and winning
on the money line. How does that factor ind for
(04:42):
you in this game? Andy Reid Patrick Mahomes, I think
by far the best combination of coach quarterback.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Yeah, here's red flag number one when everybody is throwing
all their marbles in that sack of the Andy Reid Mahome.
They had two weeks to prepare for Houston. They had
two weeks to prepare for Houston's defense. They had two
weeks to prepare for Houston's offense. They had two weeks
to prepare. They were held to fifty yards rushing in
(05:14):
one hundred and sixty two yards passing by a Houston
defense that got trampled by the Ravens. That's a red
flag for me because they're facing a better defense, They're
facing a better defensive line, they're facing a better secondary,
They're facing a better team. Now, go to the Buffalo game.
Buffalo just can't beat them. Josh Allen just can't beat them.
(05:37):
Two years ago in the NFC Championship game in Buffalo,
on third and six from the twenty four yard line,
he had the checkdown wide open. That's the first and
ten o clock running with a minute to go. You're
going to score a touchdown and win this game outright?
He went for broke in complete miss field goal game
over the blitz coming from the right. You had it,
You had it, Rich, It was right there for you.
(05:58):
All he had to do was check off to the left.
I still run down to New Orleans right now. He
just doesn't. He just can't beat them. And the red
flag for me is, and I'll take this to my grave.
We shouldn't be handicapping a Kansas City Philly super Bowl.
We should be handicapping of Baltimore Philly Super Bowl. It's
just that Baltimore can't help himself and beat himself, and
now we have this. And for me, when I watched
(06:21):
Bryce Young play Steve Sagmola twenty one to thirty five
hundred and sixty three yards and a thirty twenty seven loss,
that was a second red flag for me when I
watched that game. And I just can't get past the
fact that when I look at this Kansas City team,
I don't see a team that went fifteen and two.
I see a team that realistically for went nine and eight.
(06:41):
Ravens had them week one, Atlanta had them week two,
since he had them. Week three, Denver had them with
a basically a missedexter point blocked Raiders had him, and
Chargers had him. And then if you want to go
Tampa twenty four to twenty fourth, Bull said Anty Cahounis,
he didn't went for two and try to beat him
right there? Does that sound to you like the team
that should make history?
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Not really?
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Yeah, I mean when we improve it like that, but
they just think they're seventeen to three in the postseason.
I mean that number right there is kind of staggering.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Isn't it.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
I did it. But every once in a while, you
are gonna run into the wrong team at the wrong time.
And that's what happened to them against Tampa Bay. Brady
played like garbage. It was the defense of Tampa Bay
that just said, you know what, mahomies, your little bundle
is not gonna work here. Pal, sorry, We're gonna get
(07:30):
after you, you know what. And they did. And they looked.
They looked average, they looked normal, and everyone's jocking them because,
oh they look good. In the playoffs, they looked like
garbage against Houston and Buffalo ahead and beat and now
you're going here against the Philly team that let's be honest,
here they were two and two. They won every game
the rest of the year, and the game they lost
(07:51):
Defontae Smith drops a third down pass so they can
take a knee. We're talking about a team that finished
your season potentially sixteen and oh, guys, I'm on Philly.
I think they're the better team. I think they have
the better defense. That I always say this, People say,
why are you so successful with picking this game? Because
(08:11):
the first thing I handicap is who has the advantage
in the trenches? If I have a distinct advantage in
the trenches and I got a running game, I'm taking
that team and on a fast track at New Orleans.
I think Barkley's going to have a date. Regardless of
what Spagnola tries to do. The Texans ran for one
hundred and forty nine on them on twenty nine carries.
(08:31):
That's the Texans and KC against the Chiefs and they
have half the run game.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
All right, Brandon legs on Philly. Hey, Brandon, one more thing.
A little surprise for you. Back in the day when
you used to come on, I know you had a
big crush on Kathy Lee. We tracked her down. She's
up in the mountain somewhere. Bring Kathy on. Let Kathy
and Brandon say hello, Kathy.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Hi, Brandon, Yo, cap. I gotta tell you. You know, I
used to always come on the show, and I used
to always say, once you go Asian, you'll never go Caucasian.
But you know what, I cut you all the record,
and I went Caucasian, and I'm the happiest man in
the world. Oh yeah, I brought Yeah, I broke the street.
(09:15):
I had my ex was Asian and I was looking
for another asion and I found a Caucasian and I
broke the curse and I'm the happiest man in the world.
Cass Brandon, I'm so disappointed in you. I know, I
know nothing I could do. I just knew you were
going to be happily married forever, and I could never
get to dinner to meet you. So I want to talk.
(09:35):
I want Caucasian, my Abandon.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Though.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
I have something to tell you is that in the
Survivor pool I played in, I made it to week eighteen.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
And one on a skim.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
No way, Yes, I know, we had to pick two
in week eighteen and Pittsburgh. I want. We won the
first game, but we lost to the Pittsburgh game, so
you got you guys didn't think about chopping it up.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
We did.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
We ended up splitting it a week before.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
We did a skim the week before and then the
final though we lost.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
There was how many lefts? Nine nine laps? No, yeah, sixteen,
sixteen laps going into the final week, which we were
one of sixteen and then nine to one.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
That's why why Kathy's up and Ass been looking for
a vacation home right now.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
Well, I was gonna say, what's impressive to me is
that for a survival pool to get that far in
the season, to have nine people remaining is miraculous.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
It's miraculous. You never get actually at the end of
big survivor pools there's usually only three or four left.
Nine people. That's impressive. Nine and we're the only girls.
By Kathy, that's even more impressive.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
But Brandon, thanks you, Kathy, thank you. And Brandon Lang.
You're welcome.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Thank you guys, Thank you guys. Good to catch up. Man,
let me do something March Maddon.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Yeah, definitely look forward to that. Appreciate you. Brandon, thank
you Kathy as well.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Take care, Brandon Lank great, Brandon Lang. That's hilarious.
