Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Broncos fall to the Chargers till light thirty four
to twenty seven. Certainly a lot of frustration disappointment, I
think from Broncos fans because it really felt like the
Broncos kind of where we control of this thing. I mean,
I'm looking at some of the box score stuff here,
and I mean you think time of possession, they won
time of possession by five minutes, Like you won time
of possession by five minutes, You won the turnover battle,
(00:21):
you didn't win the penalties, obviously, heard that from Dave
seven for sixty one versus two for eight for the Chargers,
and actually they were one for three through most of
the fourth quarter, finished two for eight. You were three
for three in the red zone. I mean, there's so
many things about this game when you say the Broncos
did exactly what you kind of hope they'd be able
to do to start with three touchdown drives, three straight
(00:43):
touchdown drives, and they were even up you know again,
you know twenty four at the beginning of the third quarter,
they scored that field goal, they were up twenty four
to thirteen, and then it just sort of kind of
missed opportunities, penalties, certainly, but there are so many markers
here that are going to be frustrating, I think for
Broncos fans and for the Broncos themselves on ways that
(01:07):
really should have ended in a Broncos victory. There were
five for thirteen on third down, not terrific, certainly a
lot of that in the second half didn't work their way.
They were two for two and fourth down five point
six yards per play, which is better than their season
average rush for one hundred and ten yards, averaging five
point two per carry Odric estimate five point three per carry,
(01:29):
pretty impressive, even Javonte six.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Yards per carry.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
They seem to sort of get away from what was
working there in the first half as they unfortunately fell.
Now today's point and again, we're live from the Quantum

We will be on till midnight tonight, so there's plenty
of opportunity for you to react to the game, be frustrated,
be hopeful in the sense that you still have two
games with an opportunity to clinch.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
You also again.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Maybe not ready for silver linings, but we are gonna
be scoreboard watching this weekend. If the Bengals, Colts, and
Dolphins all lose, the Broncos clinch. They can do that
this weekend without having to do anything. Not the way
you wanted to get in, but it is what it is.
So the Bengals hosting the Browns, We're going to Dorian
Thompson Robinson at quarterback. The Dolphins they're gonna be facing
(02:37):
the forty nine ers. That one's not gonna be easy.
And then of course the other game the Colts and
the Titans. Who knows, tough tough to say it though,
it's a division game, so we'll see what happens there.
Maybe you get two out of three in that case,
which means the Bengals game next week still has a
lot of meaning. So that's where we're at again. Three
oh three seven one, three eighty five eighty five. Today's
(02:57):

Speaker 2 (03:23):
All right, Broncos React rolls on until midnight.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
We're live from the Smashburger Sports Test Smashburger E like
no one's watching Smashburger dot com. Let's go right to
the phones and oh Man, skill it. I did not
think we were gonna get to skill its this early
in the show, but it's always great to hear from Skillet.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
How are you right?
Speaker 5 (03:40):
Well, I didn't watch it on the TV, but I
listened on the radio, and I think the rest stole
another game from NFL fans. This isn't the first time
I've seen this. Cincinnati against against Kansas City, Cincinnati should
have won that. Baltimore against Kansas City, Baltimore should have
won that. This next game is a playoff game and
(04:03):
then Cincinnati. Cincinnati will be a home underdog. This is
gonna be tough because they're gonna have to win the
next two to win to go to the playoffs. I
really think they're gonna have to win the next two.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Well, by the math, they really only need the one.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
But I listen, man, I understand, and actually you might
be right in the sense of how they need to
be playing at this point. And I still feel pretty
good about the Broncos chances against the Chiefs. I don't
know if they're gonna be playing for very much coming
up here in the last game of the season.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
We'll see.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
But even if they were playing for something, I think
the Broncos at home want to make a statement on
that one because they felt like they should have had
the last one.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
But I hear you.
Speaker 6 (04:43):
You.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
You certainly make a great points skillet. As always, it's
good to hear from you. Three or three seven, three
eighty five, eighty five. Brad Tennessee's up next year on
Broncos react with Ryan Edwards.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Was Upbrad, Hey Ryan, how you doing, Bud? I'm all right, man,
how are you?
Speaker 7 (04:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (04:57):
Doing okay? Doing okay? You One thing, I think it's
interesting the Broncos kind of in the first half, they
came into this game like they you could tell that
they knew what was on the line. They played really
really hard and it was It was a great half
and it's awesome to see the carryover from from the
(05:18):
Colts game, like they you know, they could tell that
they were really pumped up for this one. Now I'm
nervous about how they're going to go into the Cincinnati game.
And uh, I don't know. I'm curious to get your
thoughts after we're done talking, but I'm kind of curious
what the long layover does. I would almost kind of
think that you would want the short week after a
loss like this going into Cincinnati just to kind of
(05:40):
get back on the field again. So I don't know
what the long breaks does for the uh, you know,
for their psyche going into the next game. But then
it concerns me the most about this is I saw
this a little bit in the Colts game. It seems
to me now that like teams are seeing that if
you put a lot of pressure on the Bronco's offense,
(06:01):
but that we really don't have an answer, and I
don't we saw a ton in the second half where
there are eight guys in the box, nine guys in
the box, and we just don't I don't know if
it's play calling. I don't know if it's just bo
is not seeing it, but it feels like we just
don't have a great answer for it. And I don't know,
(06:23):
you know exactly what to do. And you know, my
last comment is I really hope that we can shake
this off because if you go into Cincinnati and start slow,
you're going to be down, you know, fourteen to nothing
really quick. And uh, and then I don't know that
we have a have exactly the offense that it takes
to fight back in a game like that, So really
(06:43):
disciplined after this one. But I'm hoping that maybe teams
haven't found some things to uh, to kind of exploit
against us that are that are some of our weaknesses.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
So all right, thank you, Brad, appreciate it. Yeah, well,
I mean that remains to be seen.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
There's been some inconsistent play over the last few weeks,
but I mean, the one, the one difference here often ties,
at least for the last couple of weeks, is the
other team's made mistakes, like major mistakes, and the Chargers,
whatever you want to say about them, and this is
one part that we knew was gonna be the case.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
They don't tend to make a lot of mistakes, right.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
They are not a heavily penalized team, and Justin Herbert
had only two interceptions on the season coming into this game,
and then through a third one to Chris Abrams drain.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Rookies played great today.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
That was one small silver lining, right, But I mean, yeah,
that's it feels hollow certainly under the circumstances because of
what the outcome is. But yeah, I mean, I guess
we'll find out against the Cincinnati Bengals that are obviously
defensively really struggling out there.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
But they're gonna be motivated.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
I mean, I think watching this game tonight, they say, Okay,
we have a sliver of hope and they're gonna go
out and they're gonna try to obviously get this win
against the Browns. The Browns are really only playing spoiler
at this point, and if they do that, then they're
gonna be that that game is a massive one for them.
That I mean, they played the Steelers to close the season,
so once again that's going to be interesting to watch.
(08:11):
But yeah, I mean, I don't know, man, there's a
frustration there certainly on the second half, some of the
play calling some of the missed opportunities, and I mean
we'll have a chance to sort of chop it up
over the next couple of days. Back to the phones,
DJ is up next year from Grand Junction.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
What's up, DJ, I'm thanks for taking my call.
Speaker 9 (08:33):
Yep, So I didn't get to really watch the game.
I listened to the last few minutes. But someone who's
been a lifelong Growncos fan, I've seen ups and downs.
I've seen We've seen lots of bad seasons, but I'm
still seeing a lot of good positives with this year.
And I really hope we get to the playoffs. But
(08:55):
I'm still hopeful, and a lot can happen in these
next two weeks, and all they can do is shug
this game off and get back to work and just
keep kipping away. But I will say I'm happy with
this team because it's reminding me of the Broncos of old,
where they're still fighting. They haven't fought in a long time,
(09:18):
and they're getting back to where they fight, and it's
just it's good to see that they're doing what they
can with the people they got and things, and that's
what keeps me hopeful for a playoffs. But We'll see
what happens, and I hope they.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Can do it all right, DJ, thank you very much,
appreciate a little bit of a hopeful view on it,
for sure. Texta line five six, six, nine zero. This
is ridiculous, Ryan estimate. Runs on first down falls four
for five or six yards every time. What do we
doing second down? Take them out and pass on second
and third. It worked in the first half, but it
wasn't sustainable. We could have led the clock and run
the Chargers off the field. Don't blame the rest. The
(09:54):
defense let us down as well. But this is on Peyton.
I'm not I'm not officially blaming the refs. I do
think that there were some tough calls. I think that
Marvin Mims play that should have been a DPI was
a DPI. But you know, again, we can quibble over that.
It's kind of it's past the point. It doesn't really
matter now, and there are multiple of other things that
(10:16):
happened in this game that are are just as easy
to blame when it comes to why the Broncos weren't
able to close this thing out. So to your point,
I agree, arec Essmy was having a good game. He
really was even Givanti was having a really good game,
But I do I don't love the subbing in and
out constantly that we see with the running backs. That's
something that's been going on all year long that I've
(10:37):
I've really not been a big fan of. So I
can understand your point with that. This when lack of
disciplined key points in the game cost is big time. Also,
refs favored the Chargers heavily, only called one penalty against them. Yeah,
they ended up with two, but I mean, it still
doesn't matter. It did feel heavy handed on that side,
but once again, disappoint is a big deal. And the
sternad somebody pointed astad uh his penalty was was a
(11:01):
tough one, a little bit tikky tack, but hey, you
called it and then end you know, like I said,
can we consider here in quibble about all of it
and feel like it maybe was a lean on the
heavier side against the Broncos, But they've got to do
a good job of not giving the refs an opportunity
to make those calls. So again, we'll hear from all
of it. If you want to talk about the rest,
(11:22):
we'll talk about the refs tonight. That's fine. I certainly
think that there's a lot of other things to address
here and certainly some things for the Broncos to clean
up if they want to make the postseason. And that's
the thing, like, you got to win one in the
next two for sure. Maybe you get a couple of breaks.
Maybe somehow, again Miami's taking on the forty nine ers
in Miami. Maybe somehow the forty nine ers you know,
(11:42):
show up like they're supposed to and they.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Win that game.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
Maybe the Bengals stubbed their toe against the Browns. I mean,
you know, all these things ultimately could happen. And of
course the other side of that is all three of
those teams win and when we're on the next week,
and it still doesn't change anything because you still got
to win one game to put yourself in the postseason.
But you win that one game next week, oil the
week after, and you're in. That's that's the mindset that's
(12:06):
got to be what the coaching staff is pitching. All right,
we're off and rolling here on Broncos React and Live

Speaker 2 (12:29):
Denver rookie to rookie next to Valle.
Speaker 10 (12:33):
Six points for the Broncos and a penalty flag on
the opposite side of the field. Is this going to
be a legal man downfield?
Speaker 8 (12:41):
There is no foul on the play, so I went
on down four.
Speaker 11 (12:45):
Number thirty seven was from Joage blocking both for the
player a.
Speaker 10 (12:49):
Touchdown, so you heard Clay Martin the referees at number
seventy seven was engaged blocking and that's Qwynn Minerson. So
a touchdown pass from Knicks to Vle.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Yeah, some good moments from the rookie Sinai Devon Vele
got a touchdown, Adric Estimate got a touchdown for Savrums,
Drain got an interception. There's some nice moments. Even Blake
Watson had a couple of nice plays. That was our
electrifying play of the game, powered by ib e W

This is Broncos React.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
We are on until midnight tonight, so again, plenty of
opportunity for you to react to the game. We go
next to Ryan in Indianapolis. You're up next year on
Broncos React. What's up, Ryan?
Speaker 11 (13:39):
Hey, Ryan, good to talk to you again. Yes, sir,
hey man. I was you know, I was really impressed
by that first half. You know, we clearly can run
the ball. We were talking, yes, we're talking about it
all week. That first half proved it. You know, I
kind of wish that we would stop stubbing out personnel
and give sim a little long release. I thought he
ran the rock well tonight. I still understand the personnel
(14:01):
changes there, but I thought, you know, I thought we
lost tonight due to the lack of execution in the
second half. He had the self inflicted mistakes. Uh, there's
lack of discipline, you know. I don't think that's been
a major trend this year. So I'm hopeful this is
kind of a one week thing. But but still a
tough one tonight because it felt like tonight's game was
kind of ours for the taking. You know, the no
(14:22):
call d p I. I mean, it's still a major
head scratcher. I mean, you never see p I not
called when the ball is underthrown. The DV doesn't turn
his head. So just a really bad call and a
tough break for us. But again, you know, the rest
I don't really feel like is the reason why the
game was lost. But you know, one wanted to end
the call on the positive note here and then kind
of leave with one question. But look, I thought the
(14:45):
rookies tonight were really great. You had estimate TD veyle
a T. D Abrams brain with the pick again, George
Payton deserves his flowers. The future of the team looks really,
really bright, and that just feels still really good, you know,
going forward and obviously on the Cincinnati, but I wanted
to get your thoughts on, you know, the question. From
a defensive standpoint, it felt like tonight there was everything
(15:08):
over the middle was open for the Chargers, you know,
about ten yards. I mean, there was not any time
where Herbert was throwing the ball deep. The one time
he did Ablem's brain picked it, and it just felt like,
you know, I don't know if it's because we're playing off,
but there was just that soft spot all night over
the middle. They'd catch it and get about ten twenty
yards on the act and there wasn't a lot down
the field, and you know, just would love for you
to be able to respond to that, just because I
(15:29):
thought that was killing us tonight. But thanks again, man,
We'll talk next week.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Yeah, thanks, Ryan, appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
Yeah, they were playing a lot of zone tonight and
it didn't seem like the defense was necessarily comfortable doing that.
And maybe that's been a result of Certain's injury. Maybe
he wasn't good enough, he wasn't set enough to play.
Speaker 8 (15:48):
Man.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
There was a lot of wide open, so they were
finding the soft spots in the zones.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
And you're right, there was a lot of.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Wide open tonight with lad McConkey Stone Scott. Sorry so
Stone Smart ended up having some opportunities there three catches
for thirty seven, but yeah, ladded six for eighty seven,
and just felt like every single time Justin Herbert was
looking for him, he was open tough night, and they
played a lot of his own and it's just not
(16:15):
a team that does that a lot so or at
least not to that level. And Justin Herbert was just
absolutely shredding him. Three out, three seven, three, eighty five,
eighty five. Let's get one more call in and we're
here from Sean Payton. Alex, you're up next year on
Broncos reac quits up.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
Alex.
Speaker 8 (16:31):
How are you doing?
Speaker 2 (16:32):
I'm alright, man, how are you?
Speaker 12 (16:35):
I'm doing DJ with this with this loss. But the
things I noticed in this Broncos game, I have three
questions though. But the thing I noticed is at the
end of the first half, is in after the Chris
Doing interception, is that you have forty seconds left. And
this could say that you're a really good playoff team
in a playoff contender, but it just shows that, like
(16:55):
you could get down the field of phone necks in
forty seconds and see how that clock management. But the
two uneasy pass plays and then you run the ball
and then Harribou uses the time out, and then the
fair catch interpearence happened, and then from there and then
the Chargers. I've never seen this like a fair catch kickoff,
but but.
Speaker 5 (17:15):
I feel like that just.
Speaker 12 (17:16):
Made the Broncos momentum go down, and I just feel
like execution was down here. And I just noticed when
the Broncos are running zone on defense, I just feel
like I feel like that they really weren't really use
a film as they had like maybe two guys on
the guys like I think on a tight end Hayden Hurst,
but they were just standing there. They just weren't like
they were moving a little bit in their zone. But
(17:37):
they just weren't covering that zone package. But how how
are the Broncos just gonna deal with the Bengals if
they run more zone because Jamar Chase and Joe burrowm
gonna eat through it.
Speaker 9 (17:46):
That.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Yeah, I would agree with you on that, Alex, thank
you for the call, and I agree. Right before halftime,
you get the interception from crishaper drain seems like an
opportunity maybe to run some clock.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
You got aggressive there.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
You know, one of those things is that it just
felt like under the circumstances, you've done everything you'd wanted
to to accomplish. You had a double digit lead, you
would have had a double digit lead going into half.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Instead, you don't run the clock.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
You punted down Treymont Smith with a bit of a
boneheaded play that ends up giving the Chargers a free kick,
the first one since nineteen seventy six. Of all things
like that was actually the moment to me, I was like,
I don't know about this game. I felt great up
until that exact moment, and I was like, Wow, if
something's happening since nineteen seventy six for the first time
(18:31):
since nineteen seventy six, yeah, that doesn't really bode well.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
And guess what, you know, the Broncos didn't come out
at halftime.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
They put together a long drive, they got a field goal,
and just like, Okay, well maybe we settled things down,
but the Chargers went right down the field this scored
a touchdown, and that's when I kind of felt a
little uneasy about where this was headed. Sean Payton, speaking
with the media following today's game.
Speaker 13 (18:52):
We had a fast start, was encouraged by that, and then,
uncharacteristically this season, we didn't. We didn't finish or play
nearly well enough in the second half, both offensively and defensively.
Time of possession, the third down numbers are rushing numbers
fell off in the second half, you know. Credit credit
(19:15):
Los Angeles for fighting their way back in and we
didn't make enough plays in the end, So we go
from there. Any questions take us.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Through that that end of half sequence, from the from
the punt through the fair catch freak and the penalty
obviously was a cast of.
Speaker 13 (19:32):
Yeah, look, I think forty forty one seconds to start
the drive. You know, we'll try to see typically you'd
be pretty conservative we're going to have the ball, and
we ran a screen and then when the clock got
low enough, you know, there wasn't you know, we didn't
get any momentum going there. We just ran the ball
(19:53):
and punted it. The penalty puts them in a position.
And basically, anytime you catch a punt you have the
ability to place it right there and get a free kick.
Doesn't happen much, we practice it all the time. Well,
(20:14):
in that situation, the penalty put them in field goal position.
So this is disappointing.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
What did you like from the run game when that
first drive and kind of what do you think led
to those drop dropping numbers moving forward?
Speaker 13 (20:32):
Well, look, I mean we had some attempts, you know,
maybe the execution I'll see the film, you know it
that Look, the first drive was the rhythm we wanted,
the temple we wanted, and yet you know in the
second half there's we get some pressure looks, you know
when they're playing from behind. So yeah, we just we
(20:56):
didn't sustain it enough and certainly got to look at
all right each series, Hey, you know some of these looks,
what are the some of the runs, maybe we can
still get to We have plenty of work on the
run game. Going into the game, I thought the young
backs did a good job. Will keep working those guys.
Speaker 14 (21:19):
Minutes left, it's fourth and five, you decide to punt.
Was there any thought of going for it there?
Speaker 15 (21:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 13 (21:23):
Yeah, but the timeouts, all the percentages, feel position, we
just couldn't get them stopped.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
And some of the penalties you touched upon tray Won Smith.
Speaker 13 (21:33):
Yeah, that obviously costs this personal. I mean, look that
final game go ahead drive. What were there three? There
are three penalties in that final drive, and look, it
just keeps, it keeps continuing. So we got to do
better job coaching because it's not it's not like it's new,
(21:55):
and so it'll cost you. It'll cost you in games.
Speaker 16 (21:58):
Can you explain the comfortability of Nick's at this stage
of his rookie season and how he's evolved to this point.
Speaker 13 (22:07):
Yeah, listen, he's he's competing, playing well, preparing, he's a fighter,
made some plays like he does each week with his
feet and uh and puts us in a good position
to win. So he's doing really good.
Speaker 17 (22:22):
Coach McCay's obviously a good player. But do you think
he was doing to be able to find that.
Speaker 6 (22:25):
We dropped coverage.
Speaker 13 (22:26):
We dropped coverage tonight five different times.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
I mean sort of surprising, right, Yeah, Look.
Speaker 13 (22:34):
In a short week, we got to look closely at
you know, why are these things happening? But five different
times we had guys, we had free runners, and you
can't have one of their top receivers not covered.
Speaker 10 (22:46):
Is your message still?
Speaker 16 (22:48):
You got what all you want still in front of
you with the as you.
Speaker 13 (22:52):
Move on here, I'll give you the message when we
have a message, but right now that it's it's I mean, look,
we gotta we got to the corrections in this game,
right and then we get back to getting ready to
play Cincinnati. So we got to find a way to
get the tenth win. We know that. So but I
wasn't worried about messages after that game in the locker room.
Speaker 16 (23:16):
What's the best things you're saying out of your club
though at this stage.
Speaker 13 (23:19):
And fight there's they're fighting. I think I think we're
playing hard, but we got to be we gotta be smarter,
and we got to be smarter as coaches as well.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
Did you think after like the obviously strange seat was
a half time but then you g you had a
six and a half minute drive you goal start the
record like you had sort of wrestled it back into
your control.
Speaker 13 (23:39):
Sure that was a that was a that was an
important drive. Yeah, yeah, that was you know, because look
to when at the end of the half. You know,
as a coach you're starting with the ball. So forty
one seconds though, we're gonna throw a screen. We're gonna try,
you know, we're gonna see if we can get a
little momentum maybe and then you know, run the clock down.
(24:02):
The penalty was wasn't real.
Speaker 16 (24:05):
Smart to look at the table.
Speaker 17 (24:07):
What you think of him Strain?
Speaker 13 (24:09):
Yeah, overall, he's been a pleasant surprise, all right, watching him.
I'm encouraged that he's getting to play. Some of these
young guys are getting to play Audric the same way.
So we'll keep we'll keep we'll keep playing those guys.
Speaker 18 (24:26):
How would you assess the breakdown of that thirty four
yard touchdown at the end by a Hassen?
Speaker 8 (24:32):
You know, yeah, it wasn't good.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
It wasn't good.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
All right, Thanks, there you go.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
Sean Payton, speaking of the media, we'll hear from bow
Nicks in just a moment. Get a quick call in
here before we go to break. Dodge, You're up next
year on Broncos React with Ryan Edwards.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
What's up? Dodge? Hello, Dodge, Dodge, Hey, what's up? Hey?
Speaker 6 (25:00):
Hey, I didn't expect Yeah, you called me off guards.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
Okay, well I I apologize for that. You're on the show.
You're on the radio right now. What's going on, Dodge?
Speaker 6 (25:13):
Okay? Uh, I just wanted to say that I have
a lug tive Frocos fan prod ebe Water eighty two
eighty two. I guess you know that that way yours
and stuff, and uh, I want to say, you know,
(25:37):
the Frocos playedoff a really great game today. Uh there
were some uh, there were some faults. There were some
things that didn't go our way, but or goes to
Procos anyways, there were something that didn't go our way.
(26:01):
And uh, I still think that the different Brocos have
a legitimate, legitimate uh uh way to the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
You know, I agree with.
Speaker 6 (26:22):
That, which is nice because we haven't done that in
so many years, you know, And so UH just want
to I want to take everybody who is involved, uh
(26:42):
with the Denver Broncos. Uh it's they just keep at it,
you know, just keep plugging, you know, we when it
comes to the playoffs, you just never know what's going
to happen.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
Perfectly sad and.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Please for all of us, our good friends of the

you enjoyed tailgating and game day fund please make the

Speaker 2 (27:12):

right back. We'll hear from bon Nicks on the KWA
Broncos radio network.
Speaker 10 (27:20):
Yeah, it wasn't good, Herbert under center, playfakes pressured in
grab and down outside the twenty five yard line. That's
a great job by Don Gray Tillman. Tillman's second sack
of the season. Check that fourth sack of the season.
It's a loss of ten.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
Broncos sacked.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Uh drive safely.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
I got about seven texts of people saying, please tell
him to drive safely. Yeah, so that's what we're doing tonight.
Please be safe out there. Some people it's extra reason
to uh to celebrate her not so much this one.
(28:51):
It's her a tough game tonight. I felt the Broncos
should have gone forward to midfield on fourth down and
six with four thirty five left, with three timeouts. So
Peyton was probably thinking Penham, but wish we've been aggressive
in that spot. I don't know what the analytics said,
but it seemed like that was a time to go
and win the game. Actually, I agree with you on that.
It felt like at fourth and five. Let me see
(29:11):
the exact spot on the field, fourth and five from
the forty nine sooth actually fourth and sixth from the
forty nine with four to thirty five remaining. For what
it's worth, you had justin Herbert on third and ten,
You had him at third and ten, and then this happened.
Speaker 10 (29:31):
Five man pressure Herbert at the golden line, flush rolls,
Toy's right can run if he wants to. Herbert will
get the first down, stay in bounds, get out of
bounds by j Kwan McMillan. A third and ten scamper
by Herbert will pick up the first down of sixteen yards.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
Absolute backbreaker, absolute backbreaker. And then well, I mean you know,
then Gus Edwards did his thing and forty three yard run,
and then Hassan Haskins got the thirty four yard touch
down a reception on the shovels. So yeah, me, it
just sort of fell apart at that point. But that's
sixteen yards scrambled, So it's like two perfection. And I
guess if you're Sean Payton, you're thinking, hey, third and ten,
(30:10):
I like my defense's chances here. And if you're the Chargers,
I guess you're you know, maybe you are trying to
pass there, but maybe you just try to run some
clock and see what you can do. But I mean,
Herbert escapes. There was no contain on the right side
and he ended up scrambling for a first down. Back
to the phones we go and Joe, South Dakota is
up next year.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
What's up, Joe?
Speaker 3 (30:30):
Well, I'm gonna hopefully I can get through this without
having a coughing sit. I'm not drunk unless it's on
Nike Will, so hey, thanks for all.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
It still counts, by the way, that still counts, Joe.
I'm just gonna let you know.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Well, I'm at home in bed as soon as I'm
done with this phone call.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
I'm sorry to hear that, but hey, I just want to.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
Throw a couple of things out. I know, losing this
game is frustrating, but you know, I think being realistic,
you go back and look at the last eight games,
other than the Panthers game and the Falcons game, we've
been out gained by every every single team. And the defense,
you know, we we got we got a break with
Jonathan Taylor dropping that ball for us at the goal
(31:08):
line last week. We live by the turnover and getting
the sack. We die by it. We didn't get it tonight.
We just didn't get to the quarterback enough. And and
I and that's just going to be the roller coaster
ride that we that we're going to have. And you know,
the bright spot is other than you know, I think
in all of our losses, but what the Ravens loss,
unless I'm missing one, I think we've been within one score.
(31:29):
So this team's got moxy. They're resilient, and the future
is still in front of us. And one thing that
I'm very excited that comes out of this game, because
now it's been proven back to back uh I forgetting
his name, our our cornerback, Abram's uh rookie. I'll tell
you what. We get Moss back and we've got him.
I just think we're going to be troublesome for anybody
(31:50):
throwing the football over the middle. But you know, I
think we just got to ride the wave. Next week.
I think we got a good opportunity. Burrows line isn't
very good. I think we can get after him. They'll
probably put some numbers up, but I think also think
we can get some turnovers. And it's just exciting to
know that we just got to figure out a way
to win a game the last two weeks. We're gonna
be in the playoffs. So that's the way it is.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
So yeah, I hope you feel better. Thank you so
much for calling in all great points. I like the
little positive outlook on it. Like I said, getting a
little bit of most of reaction has been pretty frustrated.
Missed opportunities certainly, But yeah, you got a chance that
the Bengals are a flawed team.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
There's a reason why they're six and eight right now.
But they're also arguably the best offense in the league.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
And you just watched Justin Herbert and a reeling Chargers
offense move them down the field on you multi of
reasons why that could be the case. But the defense
cannot fall apart now. This is not the time this
is Listen, the Broncos offense is improving.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
We can all acknowledge that, but they're not.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
They're not there to the point where they can sustain
anything or they can carry this team. Now, you thought, hey,
you got to have twenty one points to start game,
you got three touchdowns. You felt pretty good about that
with this defense. But get the Chargers credit. They they
had not been running the ball very well, justin Herbert
had really been struggling. They hung in there in the
second half. They really owned the Broncos in the multitude
(33:14):
of ways. Back to the phone's down, Grand Junctions up
next year on Broncos react, we on until midnight?
Speaker 2 (33:20):
What's up done?
Speaker 12 (33:22):
Hey not mind?
Speaker 7 (33:24):
Little disappointed they should have went for it on fourth
and seven. But other than that, both's doing good. So
I think we can beat the Bengals and the and
the tiese.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Yeah, I mean you can.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
And you get to eleven wins, and you know this
one's gonna sting because the Chargers theoretically now are gonna
be ahead of you. So you're probably really eyeing that
seven seed, which means you're probably going to play against
the Buffalo Bills, So that that part stinks. But once again,
the goal remains to make the postseason and give yourself
a shot.
Speaker 7 (34:04):
Well, thank you for taking my call.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
Yeah, thank you. Don appreciate you calling in man, Be

We're here from Bo Nicks, who spoke with the media
following today's game. I imagine he had a lot of
things to say and probably was a bit frustrated as
well with the outcome.
Speaker 10 (34:31):
Bo, how do you.
Speaker 16 (34:32):
Explain the difference of the two halves because it was
a tail the two games. A.
Speaker 18 (34:37):
Yeah, well, uh, we didn't come out and execute like
we did in the first half and didn't get as
many yards and touchdowns a.
Speaker 7 (34:47):
Lot of it.
Speaker 16 (34:48):
I'm from the rush side of things.
Speaker 6 (34:50):
Huh.
Speaker 16 (34:50):
It was totally different.
Speaker 17 (34:52):
Than a second Uh yeah, I mean maybe so.
Speaker 18 (34:55):
I just think we didn't have as good a first
down success and then got a more thrown in low.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
But what's your role as a captain as a quarterback
to get these guys kind of ready to go for
next week and turn the page from this one.
Speaker 18 (35:06):
Well, the good thing is is my role is gonna
be pretty simple because every guy, everybody in that locker room,
every guy wants to already play next week.
Speaker 17 (35:13):
I think at this point, you know.
Speaker 18 (35:15):
We're all competitively frustrated, and I think we're excited for
this opportunity. You know, we know this next one is
the most important, and we just want to I think,
go out next week and not feel it this way again.
Speaker 11 (35:27):
Well, because it was the last time you'll play the
Thursday game after a loss, you're kind of excited.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
But now extra rest you just had to buy.
Speaker 17 (35:33):
You as your Maybe I don't know. I think the
rest will be good. You know, playing.
Speaker 18 (35:39):
A three day you know break this week was tough,
so it's good to have a few days to rest
and then get going again for next week.
Speaker 16 (35:47):
First, first, on.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
The second half, were they doing anything defensively to shut
things down more?
Speaker 17 (35:54):
What would you say?
Speaker 6 (35:55):
Uh?
Speaker 17 (35:56):
No, I think you know we got the same defense.
Uh just.
Speaker 18 (36:00):
You know, for whatever reason, you couldn't get going a
few drives, you know, sputtered, but.
Speaker 17 (36:07):
You know it's no excuse.
Speaker 18 (36:08):
We got to move the ball better and we had opportunities.
Our defense got us to the ball back several times
and you know, just a few short drives.
Speaker 14 (36:16):
Well, what did you think about the decision to be
aggressive at the end of the first half and try
to move the ball down the field instead of just
run the ball and going to halftime with the league
with the two possession lead.
Speaker 18 (36:26):
Well, we had about forty five seconds and two timeouts
and every I think every offense in the league is
trying to go score.
Speaker 16 (36:34):
Is there a process of you trying to get ready
for the last hall of games, because this is the
most you've ever started in the seasons totally different, right,
and you hope for a bunch more so, is there
a process of trying to be physically ready for everything?
Speaker 18 (36:50):
Yeah, you know, now's the important time to take care
of your body even more. And you know, fortunately for me,
I'm healthy going into I guess Week seventeen and at
this point in the season, and you know, it's it's
it's tough, and you know, it's a it's a grind
during the season, but you know, we prepare off season
for this and this is where you go out there
(37:10):
and you know, compete.
Speaker 17 (37:12):
This is the you know, most.
Speaker 18 (37:14):
Important part of the season is the the ending, and
so got to find ways to you know, win games
and and you know, being healthy is a huge part
of that.
Speaker 16 (37:22):
Do you feel that though at this point a little
bit like, hey, I've never done this before, but then
I'm just getting used to.
Speaker 17 (37:28):
Well, it's kind of to tell you the truth, it's
kind of groundhog day.
Speaker 18 (37:31):
You just know you got another game the next week,
so you do, uh what you got to do to
prepare and you know, same rhythm, same routine. Just I
think by the end of the season, when when you
don't have, you know, a game, when you get in
the off season, it's gonna feel a little weird. You're
out of rhythm. But for right now, we got this
next one in Cincinnati.
Speaker 13 (37:51):
They do have one of the better defenses in football
and score twenty seven on them.
Speaker 16 (37:57):
How do you feel over all your offense performance?
Speaker 18 (38:00):
Uh, you know, good and bad. We we left some
opportunities out there first three drives twenty one points and
then just kind of stalled only three the rest of
the game.
Speaker 19 (38:09):
So we gotta look, you know at why that that
was the case.
Speaker 18 (38:13):
You know, got to look back at the film and
watch and you know, be critical for ourselves, but some
good and bad things, just pretty much like any other
game there.
Speaker 14 (38:23):
Some of your teammates in the locker room said disappointing
was the feeling they're feeling after the game. What's your
emotion after this game?
Speaker 17 (38:29):
Not the same? Just uh, you know, frustrated.
Speaker 18 (38:31):
The difference in our two games with them has been
seven points, and uh, you know, just got to find
a way to get Paul the ins on one more time.
And it's, uh, that's the frustrating part is you know,
the difference.
Speaker 17 (38:42):
The margin error is one touchdown.
Speaker 18 (38:45):
I mean, it's just we we should be able to
find a way to get one touchdown, and you know,
fortunately we we got you know, another part of the season.
Speaker 19 (38:55):
You gotta you know, go out there and do it
again and then.
Speaker 18 (38:59):
You know, I mean it's just we kind of found
ways to almost beat ourselves tonight. We just had many
opportunities and just didn't capitalize one more time.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
For the positive with with Audric and Blake and your.
Speaker 18 (39:15):
Yeah, they played really well in the first half, gave
us a spark, especially in the first drive. They both
had a few good runs and it's just it's good
to see those guys, you know, they got their opportunity.
Speaker 19 (39:25):
We've seen it from Oudric and with Blake.
Speaker 18 (39:27):
You know, he's been practicing really well, so he got
his opportunity and ran the ball really well.
Speaker 19 (39:32):
I think you know that's gonna be good for us
moving forward.
Speaker 17 (39:35):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (39:35):
That was a good rookie class.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
How's bo Nick's nice question there answered for Susie at
the very end. Yeah, I mean this rookie class, Like
I said, I mean, you're talking about guys all over
the place making Playstroy Franklin. I guess left the locker
room with the boots, so we'll have to get an
update on that. But he had an eighteen yard catch.
You had a touchdown from the Vonvele touchdown for Audric
(39:57):
estime interception from Chris abram Strain. We've seen plays all
season long, and he's got six sacks right now on
the season from Jonah Ellis. It's a better impressive class.
A couple of texts here. I love these are back

Speaker 2 (40:11):
This is why I love Broncos React so much.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
First one, we should call this show Broncos overreact with
the way some of these fans act. Calm down still
and always will support my Broncos. That's from Mike and Pueblo.
The very next one. We're done. Time to panic. The
only way to get in the tournament is if Casey
sits their starters in week eighteen. The pressure of winning
to get in these last two weeks is too much
for this team to overcome. This has felt like a
different team this year, but here comes the same old
(40:36):
result set. Why Broncos React is the best. That's why
I love being here with you guys every single week. Genuinely.
We'll get back to the phones as well as the

Hey?
Speaker 15 (42:07):
Ryan? Always a pleasure. I'm driving right now in La
trying to find a place to get some punk and
spice latte after this tough one. But I was honored
to be able to come to the game and be
able to experience this. I guess I'll be one of
the very few Bronco fans that is very positive. I'm
(42:27):
really I can't beat a dead horse anymore. But I
think a lot of Bronco fans are missing the point
of what's going on. And I think that is the
excitement of the growth of these young players. I mean,
for goodness sake, Chris Abrams drained just that Dave called
just right before me. I mean, it gives me chilled.
It's like exciting to see this guy step up in
a big moment on Thursday night to make a big
(42:49):
time interception on a big time quarterback. I mean, it
just shows he has he has no fear. I love
the what Blake Watson and the Estimate did today. I
think there some bright future that I'm just waiting for
them to break that hundred yards. But you know, I'm
guess I'm one of the very few. Again. I think, really,
we're gonna go to Cincinnati.
Speaker 17 (43:09):
I think we're gonna win.
Speaker 15 (43:10):
The reason I say that is because we not only
we'll get Riley Moss back, but we'll have you know,
Chris Abram drains and obviously PS two but we're also
forgetting Jake Kwon McMillan. I mean, that guy's a good corner.
I mean he's gonna I really I feel like it's
gonna come together against Cincinnati. They're gonna be pissed off.
They're gonna come out with fire and they're gonna come
out and surprise everybody, and we're gonna get that playoff win.
(43:32):
I you know, I really am excited because this is
again I called last week, I call all weeks and
I always beat this drummers, Like, guys, we got something
special going on. This's is enjoy the ride. Next year
is gonna be even better. I mean, we're making leads,
some bounds here. Wet's have some fun and let's just
make the moments, you know, last a little longer as
long as we can. And if we can make the
(43:52):
playoffs great, which I know we will, but let's just
enjoy this moment and let's figure out what we could
do to help bon next go in the future. With
that being said, my next question to you, I don't
know if you can. It's kind of like a maybe something.
It's hard to explain, but Chris, I'm not Chris the
Jonathan Cooper sack where he got not sacked but the
(44:15):
horse caller penalty. Herbert like before he even grabbed the
back of his neck, he was grabbing Cooper's face massive,
shoving it up, And I'm like, how is there like
a rule that could be offensive face mask in that
rule or not in that call? I like to listen,
and also like what you think about going forward against
(44:38):
sin Snay. I appreciate your time, Thank you Ryan for
all you do.
Speaker 2 (44:40):
All right, thank you, Andrew appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (44:42):
Well, yeah, I mean, of course you can have offensive
face mask, but they didn't see that, and so they
saw was the horse caller tackle on Jonathan Cooper, and
it kind of was part and parcel of the game.
If there was a penalty be to be had, specifically
against the Broncos, it was gonna happen. They're showing the
(45:03):
free kick here on the television. It's such a weird deal, man, Yeah,
that we'll probably have some more time to cover it.
But it's the first time in fifty years. Nineteen seventy
six was the last time there have been a fair
catch free kick. It's a weird deal, specific set of
circumstances that ended up lining up in a way and
(45:25):
it was returnable. There was an opportunity if it was short,
but Cameron Dicker made the fifty seven yarder. Yeah, this
is a weird game, but yes, I like listen, I
think they're gonna go wing to Cincinnati. They're gonna fight
their tails off. That's gonna be a tough game, especially
because Cincinnati's getting playing motivated. Assuming they beat the Browns
this week, Cincinnati's gonna realize that that's that's the season,
(45:49):
that's the game. And they've been a good team. Their
record is a tough one, right. I mean, offensively, they've
been excellent. Defensively has been a little bit of a problem.
Joe Burrow's hearing the ball over a lot, so we
had to call her earlier. That mentioned that their offensive
line has had the problems, and they have, and Joe
Burrow has fumbled the ball, he's sort of interceptions. Their
(46:10):
defense has had a hard time stop anybody but many.
They have a swagger to them on offense. There's no
doubt about that. That is not going to be an
easy game whatsoever. And I think a lot of Broncos
fans know that. That's why there's a little bit of
concern about it. Sean, you're up next to year Rara
on Broncos react with Ryan Edwards. What's up, Sean?
Speaker 20 (46:28):
Hey, how's it going?
Speaker 2 (46:29):
Good man? Thanks for hanging on.
Speaker 20 (46:32):
Hey, thanks for having me. You know, I really was
thinking about that that long bomb that was thrown to Mems,
and I think it was the third quarter. The defensive
lineman or the defensive guy was just all he was.
Actually when they did the replay, he was actually tugging
his arm down before the ball even got there. I mean,
how was that not even called?
Speaker 2 (46:54):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (46:55):
It was under when he was under thrown. So first
of all, that the opportunity was there. I mean, the
ball just sort of hung up in the air. But
Marvin Mims got by his guy on the out and
up and it he would there's nobody around him for
like ten yards, which is kind of ridiculous, And so
the ball hung up there a little bit. It was underthrown,
but it seemed like a defensive pass interference. But Marvin
(47:16):
Mims even said after the game to Shuosie Wargen that
he went to the rest and asked them about it
and they said that it was it was fine that
there was no no interference, so I'm not exactly sure.
In fact, the quote was the defender had good timing,
that was the quote.
Speaker 20 (47:33):
Oh jeez, okay, And then how did we let Gust
the bust just get as far as he did on
that last drive like that, that forty yard run was
just absent along with Justin Herbert when I had him
backed up at third and ten, you know, and there
was nobody to stop him for that twenty yard run
to get them the first down, like it just it
(47:54):
just blew my mind.
Speaker 2 (47:55):
Yeah, no, I mean you're I'm with you on that one.
And thanks for the call, Sewan. I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (47:59):
I mean, I don't know, so Dave and I have
to go back and watch it, and I will tomorrow
morning before we got on the air for KA Sports,
but Dave said something about a couple of defenders both
running into the same gap, which left one of the
gaps just wide open for Gus Edwards to run through.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
And that's that's just absolutely I mean, you just you
can't have that happen.
Speaker 1 (48:17):
You know. They rush for one hundred and seventeen yards,
which included that forty three yard run. The Chargers did
not have a good rushing attack on the day, and
by the way, Gus Edwards finished with four point nine
per carry with.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
The forty three yarder. Like Gus Edwards was not having.
Speaker 1 (48:34):
I mean he had the two rushing touchdowns, but those
were short yardage situations. He wasn't having a good day.
They weren't not having a good running day. But then
you add that in there. Now they averaged four point
two for the day, and then it's like, okay, well,
pretty good Chargers got back on track.
Speaker 2 (48:52):
So weird.
Speaker 1 (48:54):
Brougus defense just yeah, the damn broke. That's really what
it comes down to, right. We had to take a
quick break. We'll get back to your calls three three
seven one, three eighty five eighty five five six six
