Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, Eric out of Seattle, Congratulations you got the tickets.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Hopefully enjoy the day and bring the Mirrors a much
needed win as they are four and eight on the season.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
In last place.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
So Softy and Hugh Dick was out yesterday caught up
with the guy who is supposed to be the biggest
star in Seattle sports now, Julio Rodriguez, and I heard
most of the interview, and it was a.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Really interesting interview.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Julio was talking about he seemed pretty low maintenance in
terms of his favorite drinks and whatnot. Cut one on
what things are looking for this team in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
We're playing really good ball games. Again, it's really good teams,
like the hottest teams in baseball, and we're right there,
like next to night with them. So like that, okay
that we lost some games, Okay, you can see them
in that way, but at the same time, you can
see how we're playing those games and how we were
competing in those games. And like if you go back
to the series with the Giants, let's say we'll put
(01:05):
up we'll put up a lot of runs. He's just
like they just had a really good team and like
they were able to come on top and like all
that happened after the ninth inning. So it's the same thing.
Like if we're playing at home and like those games,
like the whole story will have been different and we'll
probably have had like three three other wins. But you know,
they I keep my caps on for them, But you know,
(01:28):
at the same time, I recognize the effort that that
wouldn't put it in and like how we like kind
of kept pointing pressure like throughout the whole game against
you know, every single game that will have been playing.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
The last two games, I will I will say, you know,
we're they're great efforts. And the pitching staff for the
most part, other than that game against the Giants where
they gave up ten runs and losing an eleven innings,
the pitching staff has done a tremendous job. Last night,
one for nineteen with runners in scoring position, ten left
(02:04):
on base.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
It's just it's it's just it's inexcusable. All right.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
What about uh your development number track two and how
do you feel about this season so far with your development?
Speaker 4 (02:18):
Feel good?
Speaker 3 (02:19):
I feel I feel really good at the play obviously
like he's early, but at the same time, like you know,
I feel like with a really good rhythm, and I
feel like, you know, I'm having a lot of competitive
by bats, and like I've been able to drive the
ball out of the field a few times, and I
think just the most I've done bus early. So I
feel very i feel very happy where teams I had,
(02:40):
and I'm just like, I'm just looking to keep building
on on what I'm doing right now and just keep
helping the team win. And that's just the type of
player I am, and that's what I'm I'm I'm looking
forward to continue to do.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
That was a very Jerry to Poto like answer. First
of all, things are not going well for you, Julio.
Number one. You can't hit your weight, plain and simple.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
You're batting one seventy eight and you're not helping the
team win in your last four games. You're one for fifteen,
You've gone zero for this series against the Astros. So
I like, you know, there's a stock answer there that
he had on standby to say, oh, yeah, things are
not going well.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
They're not.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
You need to change whatever you're doing. You need to
do the exact opposite. I don't know what you need
to do, because I'm not the guy that gets paid,
you know, the money to develop a guy with five
tool potential who's getting one to one and a half
tool production. That's not my job, but I can tell
(03:44):
you things are are not going well.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Track three.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
I just feel like, you know, I feel more like
that I've learned more. I've been learning more about the
game and like you know, while approaches, you know, different
pictures around the league, features around the lead and like
all that. I just feel like, you know, the game
shows shows more to you, and I just feel like
it feels it feels really good. Obviously it felt it
(04:14):
felt like if it was yesterday that I was just
a rookie. But this is my first year now, and
I feel like I can, like, like I said too,
I feel like I know me my way around a
little bit more.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Not well, he's in his fourth season and you know,
his question about what have you noticed about the game
and your approach from that you didn't have four years ago.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
I just I.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
He's just too talented, Like nobody here is, even though
as pathetic as it is, that we can all rant
and rail on like a guy who looks like an
absolute slobbing mess, like Rowdy te Lez Nobody expects Rowdy Telez,
who's you know, making four times less than Colin Coward.
(05:06):
He's making nineteen million dollars less year than Stephen A.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Smith.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Nobody expects Rowdy Telez to turn into Pete Alonzo except
for Gerard to Poto. I'm sure Julio Rodriguez is way
too talented. So that's the issue that I have. And
I'm gonna tell you right now, you have my word.
Ninety three to three kJ RFM, this awesome listening audience,
(05:30):
you have my word. I'm gonna be on Julio like
that gold Digger was on Anthony Edwards and Little Baby.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
I'm gonna be on him.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Every day until he turns this thing around. I'll be
on him every day. And batting one seventy eight is
just absolutely inexcusable, and it's pathetic, And especially when I'm
looking out here right now and I'm seeing forty all
over the place. Those fans deserve better, they do, and
(06:05):
they're not getting their money's worth.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
The fans that are filing in right now to T
Mobile Park.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
I can tell you so far in twenty twenty five,
they're not getting their money's worth. And Julio Rodriguez is
the poster child of the Mariners fans disappointment not doing
his job. How about the difference between when the roof
is open versus the roof being closed.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
It Obviously it's a little bit warmer in here, for sure,
but one of the time to play, I don't really
mind it. I know, if I get something, the better,
I'm gonna hit it out of the park. It doesn't
matter if he's freezing, so I just once once his
game time. I don't really care. Obviously, I really like
how the field looks when the roof is closed. But yeah,
(06:53):
that's just that's just it.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Okay, let me right then and there, I want you
to I want you to play that again. See, and
I want you to stop after he says out of
the park stop at that point.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
After that, I mean, was obviously a little bit warmer
in here for sure, But one of the time to play,
I don't really mind it. I know, if I get something,
the better I'm want to hit it out of the park.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Stop. Stop.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
We don't want you to hit it out of the park.
We need you to get on base, okay, we need
you to play moneyball. We need you to draw a
walk and be more selective with your approach. How about
take a few pitches every now and then. How about
get on base. Don't worry about hitting a home run.
That's your whole problem. And that's the problem with baseball
(07:40):
in today. It's either home run or strikeout, home run
or strikeout. And that's why the game is nowhere near
And we say this about the NBA, well let's say
it about baseball too. The game is nowhere near as
good as it used to be twenty thirty, hell even
a decade ago. It's not stop trying to hit home runs.
(08:00):
Just get on freaking base. I don't care if you walk,
If you walk three times a game, I'd rather you
do that than that one seventy eight just up there trying,
you know, to just put one over the fence. That's
your problem, right then and there, Right then and there,
that and the philosophy needs to be changed.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
You need to get on base.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
The more runners on base, obviously, except for last night
and some other games, the better chance that you have
to score. Except for the Mariners last night and the sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh,
and twelve innings, law of averages eventually you're gonna score,
(08:46):
Just get on base, don't worry about hitting it out
of the park.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
And the last the last cut.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
I mean obviously like my dogs. I mean, like he's
very sad. You know, that's my that's my homemide. Like
we we play. We started playing together obviously last year
when he got here, but you know we were able
to form a really really good relationship, and its side,
you know, very very sad. But at the same time,
you know, we gotta we have a season to play
(09:14):
and we gotta you know, that's not just me, but
like everybody on the lineup has to do something because
he was a big, big piece for our team, and
you know, we gotta adjust. We gotta adjust, and like
understand that he's not gonna be able to play, but
we have to play for him now. And everybody kind
of pig pig pig each other up with that, and
(09:35):
I know the whole team feels a little bit down
with it, but like I think we all know that
we got to continue to push forward. And like for me,
like if his body on the lead off, I feel
like I'm not gonna change the type of hitter I am.
I'm gonna be a dangerous hitter every time that I
stept on the field, all on the bodys box, and
I just that's gonna continue to be my mentality.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Victor roblest Is we know out for twelve weeks who
he was speaking of with the fracture and the humoral
head of his left shoulder could potentially be season ending
if he needs surgery. So I don't count on Victor
Roeblisz coming back this year. I hope I'm wrong, And
(10:18):
I'm like, bro, like, forget a foul ball in April,
a foul ball, like I understand if you're trying to,
you know, you rob the opposing team of a home
run that can win a game.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
That I get, but a foul ball.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
And he's gone for least half the season, maybe the
entire season, and nobody's gonna step up in his apps.
And he was one of the more reliable hitters so
far this year, along with Polanco so cal rauh. And
this isn't just me on Julio. I mean pick a
player a Rosarina too. I mean it's not just Julio.
The entire lineup last night, the third, excuse me, the second,
(10:59):
third and clear hitters combined last night average one.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
Eighty eight point six, one eighty eight point six, Julio,
cal and Randy, do you think one eighty eight point
six is gonna get you to win ninety three games?
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Is gonna get you to the playoffs? No? No, it's
not one eighty eight point six. That's supposed to be
the best part, the meat of your lineup. Oh, by
the way, I should mention I didn't even throw in
Midge Garver, who was batting fifth last night. He's batting
one fifty, so that brings it even down even more.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
I mean, what are we doing here?
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Like?
Speaker 1 (11:41):
What is going on?
Speaker 2 (11:42):
So obviously you know, I remember being here a week
ago before I was flying out to San Antonio for
the Final four and they gotta win, and I sat
there and I bitch, moan and complained and how bad
this team was a week ago. I'm doing it again
today because you know what, as Led Zeppelin once sang,
(12:05):
the song remains the same.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
It's the same.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
So hopefully today as I head on down to SeaTac
after the show and fly down to Sin City, Las Vegas,
maybe I could try to get Gino Smith and Pete
Carroll on the show tomorrow live from the circa.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Yea, as I go down to Vegas for the next
two days, as we get ready.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
For the Masters, maybe I can will this team of
victory in their first series win of twenty twenty five.
Maybe somehow I'll manifest it into the universe.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
I wouldn't hold my breath. I'm certainly not betting on it.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
But man, I mean this is you know, you take
away Let me just tell you this right now. You
take away Dylan Moore last night. And here's the lineup ready,
Julio one seventy eight, Cow two oh five, Randy one
fifty nine, Mitch Garver Solano point zero sixty three, Really
(13:04):
one seventy nine, Ryan Bliss one hundred, JP Crawford.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
One twenty five.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
This to call it pathetic is doing a disservice to
the word pathetic.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
It just is so.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
I but I go back to what I said a
week ago, and I'll say it again until things change.
You get what you pay for.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
You buy a car on Craigslist from some you know,
sisty guy, and you know and and you get what
you pay for.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
This is that's it. Like anything else in life, it
just is that. That's it. You wanna you want to
look great, you want to look really good.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Buy ARMANI suit, go out and get try to get
Pete Alonzo, and I love how people come.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Oh Pete Alonzo wouldn't have come. How do you know
you even try to go after him? How do you know?
You don't?
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Nobody knows because you didn't even attempt it. So it
is what it is, man. I mean you heard in
a small fracture. And there are a lot more voice
text calls we couldn't get to. Nobody wanted the tickets.
Now we got people on the text line who do
want the tickets thankfully. Oh by the way, uh, Chris
did that, gentleman? Is he gonna go?
Speaker 6 (14:26):
He's all set? Spoke to him over the phone. He's
headed to the game.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Oh and what is his name?
Speaker 6 (14:31):
Eric walks?
Speaker 1 (14:32):
Eric Walks? Eric Watks?
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Congratulations? You know what can I just say? Eric, not
just congratulations? Thank you, thank you for doing something that
nobody on the voice text line wanted to do.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Which is accept the tickets. They left their That's why
I love it more. They left their rant.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
It said I don't want the tickets anyway, I wouldn't
even go there. But Eric Watts. Hopefully you will bring
them Mariners.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
A much needed win today.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Let's get a little cloudy cloudy skies above t Mobile
Parks as we speak right now. But hopefully mother nature
will hold up and there won't be an issue for
today's game.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
It's just, man, I gotta give our audience.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
I gotta give the ninety three to three KJRFM listening
audience all the credit in the world. Y'all told me
you did, and I didn't listen. You told me it
was gonna be this bad early, and I said, ah, man,
I'm bullish on the on the pitching staff, you know,
I mean, you know where you know, Spires got his
fastball back, and you know we're gonna get you know,
(15:31):
Brash is hopefully gonna be coming back soon.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
And no, no, no, man, pitching.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Will carry until it doesn't, you know, until it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
So you were right, you were right. I tried to be.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
The speakon of positivity. I really did. But in the end,
and you know, you were all right. I was wrong.
You've seen this movie before, from the last four to
tend to three years. I mean, I you know, there's
a reason why this is the only franchise in Major
League Baseball history. Who's never gone to a World Series?
(16:13):
The Mariner started in nineteen seventy seven. The Marlins started
in nineteen ninety three. The Marlins have two World Series titles.
The race started in nineteen ninety eight. They didn't win
a World Series title, but they've at least been there
twice twice. I mean, you you are what you are
(16:36):
at the end of the day. It just comes down
to you are what you are. And I hope this
franchise can turn it around.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
I really do.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
But I'm gonna be all over Julio's ass like white
on Rice every single day on this show.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
I owe it to you, the listeners.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
If I'm not doing that, I'm not and not just
Julio Caw he's not a bu of getting called out.
He just got a nice hundred and seven million dollar contract.
Well he's about batting nearly one oh seven right now. Okay,
so he's another one a Rosarina, all of them, Garver
and every single one of these guys. JP Crawford, I mean, Jesus,
(17:15):
it's bad. It's really bad. All Right, We're gonna get
to what do you say? Text of the Day coming
up next at four nine four five one gonna be
live the next two days from the Circa in Las Vegas,
Sin City, getting ready for the twenty twenty five Masters.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
I already put a couple bets down.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
You know it's gonna be nice the next two days,
well about three days, Chris.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
You know it's gonna be great.
Speaker 6 (17:41):
What you got.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
Even though I will be at a casino hotel, I
could walk anywhere near this. I could take a drive
to leg Tahoe, and I'll be able to place a
bet on my phone without having to be on the
premise and property of a casino.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Oh, that's gonna feel so good right wherever on that.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
I got that MGM app and it works in Massachusetts,
and it works in Nevada and a bunch.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Of other states. So oh, I can't wait for that.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Won't have to be running down and placing bets like
it's nineteen seventy four in a casino. Can do it
like most people should do it. Maybe Washington lawmakers should
listen to me and listen to what I'm saying. Here's
the thing, don't just I got fans here. This guy
right here, he's eating.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Right now, he's putting not his head up I know,
I know.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Believe me. I've only been here two months. I can
tell you right now. And here's the thing about it.
For the Washington lawmakers, you're losing billions of dollars of
people who would bet on their phones every day and
every single night. It's yeah, but but oh you can placel.
You can placel bet if you go to the casino property.
(19:02):
You can do it on your mobile app. Okay, that's
really convenient there.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Great, Yeah, that's what everybody wants to do, all right.
What do you say? Text of the Day coming up next?
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Four nine, four five one live from Jimmy's on First
Here on MJ in the midday ninety three to three
KJR at them your home, the crack in the Huskies
and the very best NFL Draft coverage.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
You're listening to the home of the Huskies, the Kraken
and Seattle's best NFL Draft coverage gen the twenty twenty
five NFL Draft. Now back to Mark James, MJ in
the midday on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
What do you say? Text of the Day Live on
MJ in the.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Mid day from Jimmy's on First Cross Street from t
Mobile Park four nine four five one. If you want
to hear your texts right on the air from the
two oh six, rather sit in Seattle traffic, then watch
those clowns.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
That's tough, man. I've sat in traffic. I'm not gonna travel.
You don't get to move, you're just inching forward. I
don't know. There's nothing entertaining about that. Maybe a podcast
or hell, you're listening to the station, so we appreciate.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
That's right.
Speaker 6 (20:16):
That's traffic, man. I don't know. I might have to
go to a Mariners game. Actually, I think I will
go to a Marinage game before I sit in traffic.
I don't know where you stand on that mark.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
I haven't been to one yet this year because I've
been traveling heat to Vegas.
Speaker 6 (20:28):
So you're a busy man. Eventually, you're a busy man. Yes,
let's see from the two five to three and extra inning,
does it make more sense for the managers to bunt
the runner over from second base so at least a
pop fire or a lazy ground ball would score the run? Absolutely?
Speaker 1 (20:43):
I agree. You got to manufacture. You gotta play situational baseball.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
You have to do something to get that runner, you
get that runner to third with one.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Out, I mean, it's sure. Why not.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
I mean even if they're even if they're playing for it,
you still got to make an attempt. If you're not
able to just manufacture runs the organic way, and they
haven't been able to do that.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
They haven't.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
They're waiting on the two run home run like Polanco
the other night. You know, they're waiting for that. They're
waiting for in the opener with Polanco and Rosorraine against Detroit,
they're waiting for that. You know, you can't wait for that.
You have to somehow manufacture and manipulate runs. That's how
it works. Let's just see all a lot of these people.
(21:29):
All these people wanted to.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Go to the game. It's weird.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
We should have gone to the text line first, I
you know, and we all we already gave it away
to Eric Walks. Okay, what Seattle Department of Transportation, we're
opening bridges for marine traffic in the midday and hour
before we have an MLB day game.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
What are we doing? What are we doing?
Speaker 6 (21:53):
From the two five three right now? The Mariners aren't
doing anything nothing bleep, not a zilch. It's been rough.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
That's I gis. You can say, yep, FYI.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Gambling taxes are. It's just from the two o six.
Gambling taxes are regressive and kind of sad. Also, the
song remains the same as a song in a movie title,
Robert Plant never saying that otherwise you're nailing it as
led Zeppelin saying you know the way it should be,
but you.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Don't know why. All right, very nice. That's a good one.
Speaker 6 (22:24):
From the two oh six. I'm a Mariners fan. I
understand the circumstances around this team. I'm hopeful that things
will turn around. As you mentioned kid a while back,
it's not over until maybe mid late July. Then we
could really be harsh on this team. But right now
I'm willing to accept they could still turn things around.
(22:45):
You know what. I agree with you two o six.
I'm right there with you. We'll see. I'm not jumping
on them right now. It's still early, but it's not
looking great. But I know it's a long season. I
don't want to be that person that says it's a
long season when we get to i don't know, late
April and then early May, and I want to keep
using that. So it is still early, but they haven't
shown signs of Oh, this is a team that is
(23:08):
going to have a decent to a deep playoff run.
I haven't seen that yet. So hopefully a win tonight
against the Astros could be the start of something, could
be a little spark.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
From the two oh six.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Welcome to Seattle, MJ doing this for fifty years, my friend,
the ms are still living in nineteen ninety five.
Speaker 6 (23:30):
I was going to be four years old, two years
of at the time. Nice cool wow. Yeah from the
two o six, Hey kid, John and Jerry are still cowards. Hey, man,
we get it. I can't even add anything to that. Man. Yeah,
I love seeing you text that end daily though. Appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Yeah, yeah, he does. Brian.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Forget Jerry's fifty four percent. We are on track currently
for fifty four wins. Not really not that bad yet,
but it's just I've got to see I will tell you,
it would be one of the biggest wastes of talent
if this team can't reach the postseason with such an
(24:11):
unbelievable pitching staff, it would be such a waste. And
I'm afraid that that is where we're headed, and that's
what's going to happen, but I'm hoping somehow, some way
it'll turn around.
Speaker 6 (24:24):
From our guy Travis out of the two six, I'd
sell those tickets and go to the casino a place
a bit. We need a wager MJ NBA question Mark.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
Not tonight.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
I'll maybe tomorrow when I'm in a casino and I
get that casino sport book.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
I'll be in the world's largest sport book tomorrow. By
the way, the circle, it's the world's largest sports book.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
And in the back they have this thing called Stadium
Swim where it's like the largest TVs. You go out
and you can be in the pool and it's like
a day party, like one of those day parties in Vegas,
but it's all games. So for March mad Is, it's
really cool. Mark from the two five three. My eleven
year old wanted an M's jersey last Christmas, so we
(25:04):
got him a forty four jersey. Just the other day,
he said it's getting too small. I asked him if
he wanted another Julio jersey. He said, no, I want
a cal Raleigh jersey. That should say it all.
Speaker 6 (25:14):
Got some track love here From the two six Owen Powell,
I'm a big track guy. By the way, Mark, just
let you know.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Tracks your tough sport, great sport.
Speaker 6 (25:23):
Great sport, tough sport. I agree with you on that.
On Power is running in Arcadia Track Meet this Saturday.
He's the indoor national mile record holder and he is
from Mercer Island High School. Shot out the top five
runners in the US and a sub four mile. I
believe that's what he's trying to say. Miller from Australia,
we'll be in this race. It will be extremely highlighted
(25:44):
on ESPN two and other outlets highlight that a local
runner will be there. So yeah that that sounds like
it should be a really competitive race. I will definitely
be trying to catch that. Thank you for the m
y the two O six.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
From the two O six as well.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
I just centered high school for the M one hundred
and sixteen win season in two thousand and one and
nothing came out of it. I basically don't pay attention
just because I'm so jaded. This year is starting just
about how I expected.
Speaker 6 (26:11):
From Keith Miller. Go ahead, Mark, Yeah, yeah, you go ahead.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
I go to Keith one. I was gonna say, yeah.
Speaker 6 (26:19):
Go for it, all right. This is from our guy, Keith.
The Manners have beaten down the sports fans here. They
don't want the real sports fans exposing the ownership and
how bad it's been. They don't care about us. Sad emoji.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Yeah, so great to have a new guy in Seattle
sports radio that does nothing talk about how awesome.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
He is and how bleep Seattle. No no, no, no, no, no, no.
I didn't say how bleep Seattle is. I said how
bleeped the Mariner's lineup is, say how bleep Seattle is.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
Don't don't, yeah, don't put words in my mouth. Don't
stuff those words in my mouth. No, no, no, no.
I'm talking about this bat lineup, which we all knew.
We all knew that was going to Uh, what's gonna happen?
Speaker 1 (27:07):
You got another one?
Speaker 6 (27:08):
I do. This is from the two five three mark.
Do you still have OKC coming out of the West.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
After the Lakers blow them out? Yeah? Because what did
they do the next game? Well? Yeah, yeah, Listen, the
Oka see is.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
The best team in the West, and I mean I'd
like to see them ultimately get to the finals and
see how they would play against Well, I just want
to see the best matchup I want to see the
best matchup.
Speaker 6 (27:34):
Give me the Lakers and whoever comes out the East.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
The best matchup possible.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
And I don't have a lot of faith in the
Denver Nuggets right now because he fired their head coach
in general manager yesterday.
Speaker 6 (27:47):
Oh from the four to two five two things, we
know Mariners aren't that good and MJ hasn't paid for
lunch since he's been here.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Right, yeah, yeah, yeah, Uh I heard Softy say that yesterday.
Speaker 6 (28:02):
Oh okay, that's where it comes from.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
Yeah, I got that's true. One more for me, uh four, two,
five M barrassers. He put the M with, not em
but embarrassers are garbage. This team is going nowhere. Is
currently constructed. Massive failure by ownership. The realists know this
crap was coming with lack of off season moves.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Duke Iron all right.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
I mean I I Duke listen. That's why I was
really positive in the beginning. And I know we're twelve
games in and could they turn around?
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Absolutely? I want to see something.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
I need to see something, and I need to see
something consistently instead of waiting on the two to three
run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning
or an extra innings, which isn't coming. I want to
see something and I need to see something soon because
you think it'll turn around.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
You hope it'll turn around, but will it. I don't know.
I'm hoping it will, I really do. It'd be great if.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
This team got off to an amazing start like the
Texas Rangers. They haven't, and the entire lineup other than
Dylan Moore Polanco is hardly any of them. They're batting
barely above two hundred and that is inexcuseable for a
team that is projected to be in the playoffs and
(29:21):
to have over eighty five and a.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Half wins early. I get it.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
But are we gonna be saying early in May, in
June and then around the All Star break in July
as well, or are gonna be saying early then too,
because early eventually becomes late.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
And that's what it is.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
And you need your star to step up and play
like a superstar because he's not.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
Doing it right now. That's it.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
It's not my fault he's hitting one seventy eight. It's
not my fault. He needs to find a way to
get on base more. And that's to me, is that's
just for any player, not just Julio unless you're Juan
Soto and you know that, Hey, I'm gonna jack over
fifty home runs a year just because I'm Juan Soto
(30:08):
or Aaron Judge. You know those guys can do that.
Nobody on this team Ken at least, hasn't shown that yet.
So I'm hoping it will turn around, and today there's
no better day to do it. There's a lot of
fans that have headed into T Mobile Park and they've
been lining up Chris since ten o'clock this morning and
they are still i mean filing in. So it's gonna
(30:29):
be an obviously. Really, the stands should be packed for
the Businessman special over there today. All right, Cross Talk
with the Mayor Ian Fernesk coming up next live from
Jimmy's on First on MJ.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
In the midday Naughty three to three KJRFM day was saying,
I was gonna thank you guess having any guests on today.
Hopefully tomorrow we will get we got a guess on tomorrow. Chris,
(31:02):
all right, okay, fair enough.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
I don't mind rolling up the sleeves, doing the grunt,
the hard work, and hey comes up with organic segments.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
It makes it even better.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
I Furness coming up next right here from one to three,
the Mayor Maple Valley, Mayor, so Lo and behold Kraken
last night tough one. I know you probably missed it,
which I'm gonna miss So I'm gonna rely on Christopher
Kids tomorrow because I'm gonna be in the air to
Vegas whenness, this game is going on starting here in
(31:33):
about twenty two minutes or twenty one minutes exactly. So
all in all your thoughts so far on the twenty
twenty five Mariners at.
Speaker 7 (31:41):
Four and eight, I did see. I did see the
extra innings. We were done with Kracking played earlier. They
were in Utahs, so I got to watch innings nine
through twelve. I guess it was so well. I mean,
they're who we thought we would be. I guess is
the easy way to look at it. I mean, there's nothing,
there's no surprises here because they're exactly who and what
(32:02):
we thought they would be. They are a team that
didn't add anything offensively in the offseason. They rolled everything
back and they were going to rely on their pitching,
and and which is fine pitching. I do laugh sometimes
when I hear about them relying on pitching and defense.
And I think if people have ever listened to our
shows on Monday with Chris and Nate, the guys that
actually have the numbers and the stats, they're not There's
(32:25):
a lot of guys on that team that are not
very good defensively. And so you know JB. Crawford makes
a couple of plays every now and then you go, wow, plays,
but there also plays that should be routine plays for
a short stop. He just has no range, like he
can't get there, you know, losing right.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
Well, who else are the defensively deficient players?
Speaker 7 (32:43):
Well, anytime Polanco's in the field, on the in the field,
he's he's below average. Crawford's below average first base is
average at best. Dominic can Zone, a fusure right fielder
right now is awful defensively. That's a huge drop off
from Roll Bliss. A Rosa Rain is just okay, like
(33:05):
just okay. And you know, obviously your center fielders has
gold Glove potential, so he's fine. Your catchers a gold
glover and you know, but no Ryan, you know, the
one thing Bliss Reeves is probably just off brand Bliss
in a sense, he's not as fast. He's a decent glove,
so assuming he's going to get most of the starts
at second along with more, you know, here's the thing,
(33:28):
what are they now? They're four and eight, right, and
there's glass half empty, glass half full, glass half empty
would be you're there because Polanco's having a career start
to the season even though he can only play like
every other day or every two days because of his health.
And Dylan Moore is not going to hit like he
is all year.
Speaker 6 (33:47):
He just isn't.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
But you could also unbelievable play last night.
Speaker 7 (33:51):
Dylan Moore's a Gold Glove caliber player as a utility guy,
and he and that was saved the game for at
least an inning or two. But yeah, I mean, they're
they're exactly who we thought they would be. And a
good news is and in this league outside of a
you know, it's not like everybody's running away with it
right now the league as a whole, if we're looking
at wild cards and things like that. So I don't know,
it's just it's I hate the it's early thing because
(34:11):
you when you missed the playoffs by one game, that
it's never early, that's right, But but I do not
I'll say this, I don't like the fact that it's
exactly what we thought they would be. Like, there's no
surprises here. There's absolutely not a surprise to be had
by what we've seen so far in this year because
they're exactly what we thought they would be. They can
(34:32):
pitch if healthy, their bullpen has been the bullpen's gonna
get better, Mark, That's the one thing, right.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
I was looking at it from a more naive, optimistic approach,
where now, let's see, like we got the pitching staff
and I know Kirby's out or you know, maybe the
entire month of April, but they'll be able to dia
believe it's a hold serves and tread water until that
point and everything that everybody said, every you and the
audience and everyone, they're like, welcome to Seattle, Mark, this
(35:00):
is exactly who that we told you they would be.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
And I just didn't think they would be so bad
this quickly in the season. I thought it would take
some time.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
I didn't think And again, I mean, you know, twelve
games in, there's one hundred and fifty to go.
Speaker 7 (35:15):
But yeah, so it's not like the good the good
news is they're in the American League West and not
the National League West.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
That's true.
Speaker 7 (35:25):
That's the good news because they're not. No one's running
away with it, like I mean, like like Texas is
seven and four or eight and four. I guess the
Angels are what seven and three? But that doesn't feel sustainable.
But right now you're in the last place in your
division and four games under five hundred you got, and
you've got Texas coming to town this weekend. You got an
(35:45):
opportuny to win a series though tonight.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
So yeah, today they certainly do. And then here come
the Rangers coming in town. All right, in for nest
we got coming up next.
Speaker 7 (35:53):
We got to busy Show. It's a Wednesday. Great Coas Sale,
our buddy, Great Cosale joins us. We're talking tight ends
today for the NFL draft, position by position, and if
anybody's listening to our good friend Hugh Millen, he'll tell
you tight end is definitely a position of need. We
all know about Tyler Warren. What about the rest of
the tight end class? How many guys are truly because
there's a big difference.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
In the NFL.
Speaker 7 (36:14):
And Greg's gonna explain between tight end one and tight
ends two and three.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
This team doesn't have a tight end one. No, they
do not, they not. I will tell Colston Lovelan from Michigan.
But I'll tell you right now, and I might be biased.
There is a certain.
Speaker 7 (36:28):
Guy, yeah, yeah, that's right, you like yourself with Royal.
I'll ask him about Arroyo from Miami. There's a kid
out of Bowling Green. I want to ask him about
as well. So yeah, we'll talk about that. How many
of those guys are tight end ones because they've got,
you know, one thing with Barner and Famp they got
tight end two and tight end two A. But they
do have a tight end one and do they need
that for the Kubiak offense. We'll break that down with
(36:49):
him coming up today. And then also we do this
every year during the Major's week. So I have my
buddy Bobby Caspar on for Real Golf Radio. He is
at Augusta National. He will give us a preview of
what's going on down there to Gusta National. His dad
is Billy Casper, former Masters champion, and he has candied
in the tournament before and carried He's been on his
dad's bag, his late father's bag, and he knows the
(37:10):
guest to like anybody. So if you want to do
some swinging by the old sports book at Stokoma Casino
or somewhere, he'll give you some tips on who to
who to look for this weekend at Augusta National.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
Good Value Colin more Kama. That's that's that's that's the
good value.
Speaker 7 (37:24):
He's everyone's kind of sleeper pick this week. So I'm
staying the hell away from him. I'll tell you that
right now. I'll stay the hell away from him, especially
he's all mad at the media. He doesn't handle things
well that that in a game in which it's all
cerebral Mark. I don't want a guy that's complaining about
the media being mean to him.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
I don't that.
Speaker 7 (37:41):
That scares me a little bit because what's gonna happen
when the fans are chirping when you're hitting a ball
in the water on twelve?
Speaker 1 (37:46):
Right? Right? Yes, yeah, I don't.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
I don't like athletes or teams who get mad when
you complain about how bad they are inside the line.
Speaker 7 (37:55):
Exactly, very much so, all right, and we'll save travels
money you.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
Too, All right, Thanks man, appreciate you. In Forests.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
Next we'll see tomorrow live from Vegas at the world's
largest sportsbook, The Circa, getting ready for Masters weekend live
here on MJ in the midday ninety three three kJ
