Speaker 1 (00:00):
And the Kracking power playload.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
This is the krak Postgame Show, brought to you by
Toyota of Olympia. Now for an in depth look and
your Kraken Hockey. It's the post game on the Emerald
Queen Casino Kraken Audio Network.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
We're back inside of Climate Pledge arena of a Seattle
Kraken back in the win column with a six to
two win over the San Jose Sharks.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
Evert Fitzi, Al Kaniski.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Back alongside Al a lot of emotions coming into this game. Uh,
Seattle needing to get back in the win column following
a six to four loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday,
four to two loss in Edmonton on Monday, Kraken had
lost three of their last four coming in. Uh, you're
trying the bank points, You're trying to stay in the
(00:48):
conversation out west, and I mean, say what you want
about the opponent, who it is. But I felt like
this is the type of game the crack and needed
everything in sync, all rowing in the right direction in
a full sixty minute effort.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
Yeah, you and I get the honor to have a
one to one chat with Dan Bolesman game days that
most of it gets recorded, most of it gets put out.
We also have a chance to have a non recorded version.
I want share you of that. But the one thing
I did say in that conversation is I'd like to
see the guys have a decisive win tonight. And that's
exactly what this was.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Well, Chandler Stevens in three points on a goal and
two helpers, Brandon Montour two second period goals. You had
a goal and an assist east from Tolvanen and byork Strand.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
I asked Dan this morning.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
I said, Coppocaco, Jane Schwartz spenty but hears they've been
the offensive catalysts for this team the last ten or
so games. But recently you're seeing Ellie tolven It now
goals and four straight. You're seeing Chandler Stevenson getting on
the score sheet, Oliver Buroick Strand. Great to see Brandon
Montour snapping an eighteen game goals rout with two goals
(01:52):
here tonight. You're going to need everybody contributing offensively as
you move along here through these final now twenty nine games.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
What's interesting, too, is that the guys you mentioned that
top line for Seattle of Schwartz, Beneers and Cocko on
one point tonight on that line by Schwartz with the goal.
But I wouldn't say they took the night off. But
to your point in the conversation this morning, it's nice
to have that depth of scoring where when it is
isn't working with one line and maybe they get shadowed
(02:20):
a little bit tonight, who knows, other lines are getting
it done. Defensemen are getting it done, and you know
it pays off.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
The physicality in this game we saw a lot of
in the first period your favorite area of the game
out Well, I.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
Was gonna talk about that a little bit later, but let's.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Go really really good tilt from Done and Fron in
the first period.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Second period.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
I should say, what did you make of the physical
response for the cracking in this one tonight?
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Well, when I look at the hit column, I'm always
looking to see, you know, first of all, how many
are there, and there were twenty three tonight by the
cracking Santons they had twenty three as well, so they
weren't backing down from the physicality. But then I started
to look at individual guys and I'm looking for the
guys that tip play a physical game to make sure
they are Adam Rson five hits tonight, Ellie Tolvan who
had a big night tonight, four hits for him, And
(03:08):
when Ellie's playing his game, there's always a physical component
that seems to show up at the same time. And
so you know, nice to see from guys like that
that where physicality is a part of their game, them
using it tonight and the team coming out on top
as a result.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
You and I did the in arena pregame skeeep video
here inside of Climate Pledgerina, and you said you were
looking at Joey Decord to have a big game. Well,
he turned aside twenty four of the twenty or twenty
six of the twenty eight shots that he faced this one.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Yeah, nine to two nine save percentage for him, So
him playing too maybe leaving a little bit above his stats.
I believe his goals against average right now is at
two point four to five. So he gave up two today,
and really he gave up one. The first one was
a tough hill off of a cracking skate, so but
it counts as a goal against. But still at two
four five his goals against average right now, giving up
(04:00):
to tonight, it'll come down a little bit from that,
so playing above his stats in that area.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
We'll break, come back and go downstairs.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
After this six to two crack and win on the
amerroal Guing Casino Crack An Audio network.
Speaker 5 (04:12):

which is why our slogan is.

Speaker 8 (05:22):
Why Hearts is proud to support Seattle Children's Hospital this season.
Hearts is donating fifty dollars for every krack and goal
score to Seattle's Children's Hospital. When kids can grow to
fulfill their potential, our entire community wins.
Speaker 9 (05:36):
That's a worthy goal. We can all support.
Speaker 6 (05:39):
As Hearts week care more.

Speaker 11 (06:13):
This is Jamie Alexiak, defenseman for the Seattle Crack and
listen to the krackt all season long.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Right here, you're.
Speaker 11 (06:18):
Home for the Seattlekrack and a sports radio ninety three
point three KJRFM.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
We're back inside of Climate Plage arena of the Crack
in a six two win over the San Jose Sharks.
I'm Everard Fitzu. He is Al Konisky. Mike Benton coming
up momentarily as we await the arrival of Ellie tolven
In from the locker room following the postgame meetings and presentations.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
And all of that. But kracking coming into the game today.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Al we touched on it all throughout the broadcast, but
we'll we we will reset right here at Philip Grubauer
yesterday placed on waivers, reassigned assigned to the Coachella Valley
Firebirds of the American Hockey League. He's going down to
find some of his confidence, get his his game back.
(07:03):
This season five fifteen and one with a three A,
three goals against in an eight sixty six say percentage,
A lot of heavy hearts in the locker room this morning.
You could tell the guys felt like they let down
and Og a member of the Crack and someone who
has been here since day one, and you're hoping he
goes down, wins some games, finds his game, and then
(07:25):
can come back and contribute to the big club.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Yeah, and you know, you wonder going into tonight's game
how the guys were going to respond to that. You know,
you look to morning skate, you look to you know,
post morning skate, to scrums, and You're right, there was
a lot of melancholy discussion about him being a friend
and losing a friend in that, and I think some
of that response came into the game tonight too, you know,
wanting to play a little bit for losing a friend
(07:48):
down to Coachella, and I think they all look forward
to having him come back.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Up here Krack and continuing a five game homestand on
a Sunday evening against the Calgary Flame. And speaking of Calgary,
they just made a big trade moments ago, Morgan Frost
and Joel Farrabee coming over from the Philadelphia Flyers in
exchange for Andre Kuzmenko Jacob Pelchier, and then a twenty
(08:13):
twenty five second rounder in a twenty twenty eight seventh rounder.
So for the Flames, you're getting Morgan Frost Joel Farrabee,
who two first round picks haven't quite worked out the
way they wanted to in Philadelphia. You're looking at the
change of scenery maybe doing them some good. But one
thing I do know is those two are really big
(08:33):
culture pieces in Philadelphia. So it looks like the Flames
as they now hold down that second wildcard spot, they're
not waiting until the deadline.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
They're trying to get better.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
And for your the Kraken, you now have them twice
over your next four games. Sunday and then next Saturday
in Calgary. Those are two must wins for the Kracking
coming up.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
Yeah, and you're gonna get a pretty quick look at
the effect that having that trade happen here has on
their their line. Sometimes it takes some games before things
get going and sometimes it doesn't. You can see the
effect that Capo Coaco has had with the Seattle Kraken
since coming here from New York. So I'm sure the
Calgary Flames are hoping for the same thing.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Trying to track Tobanan down.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
So while we do, let's get your two takeaways and
then your three stars from Amakay.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Well, first of all, a first period first goal.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
Fantastic. Chandler Stevenson getting that first period goal was huge.
San Jose got one as well to equalize it, but
still getting that first one. Big blue line scoring tonight,
montur with two goals put Seattle tied with the Columbus
Blue Jackets for goals from defenseman. So fantastic there. I
knowed Chandler Stevens and Nelly told him having great games
(09:43):
and looks like we're gonna talk to Ellie right now.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Yeah, we'll go down to the room. Ellie Tolvin in
a goal and an assist here tonight. Ellie, you guys
had a phenomenal game, six to two win over Seattle.
Where do you think it all went rights for your
group over these last sixty minutes.
Speaker 12 (09:58):
I think we were ready from the start, uh, you know,
I think everybody was ready to battle. You know, get
a nice goal early on, and you know, I feel
like the confidence just kept building after that, and I
think it was a solid sixty minutes from everybody.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
I know.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
It was a very emotional day with with the Grubauer
news yesterday and you could really sense the guys losing
a friend, even though you know hopefully this is a
temporary move with him going down, But.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
What was the move?
Speaker 3 (10:21):
What was that message from that standpoint coming into the
game amongst the group.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
Uh, yeah, you know it sucks.
Speaker 12 (10:27):
It sucks to you know, Louisa a good friend, you know,
like Lars said today, and you know, we spend more
time for the guys than we spend with our families.
So you know, he was he was a special part
of this group. But uh, I feel like it in
thisitside you you just gotta get out there, work hard,
you know.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
I think that's what we did today.
Speaker 12 (10:46):
I feel like last couple of games we we lacked
the effort, and I feel like today everybody brought.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
It to You're on a four goal game streak here,
four game goal streak here.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Back in Pittsburgh, you had four hits, you got a
goal in that game. Edmonton, you had four hits, you
got a goal in that game. That's like a theme
here tonight you had four hits, you got a goal
and assist.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
With Anaheim you got a goal, but you only had
one hit in that game. Question is is that do
you feel like that's a key part to your game
to have success? And second question is Lars got five.
What's going on there?
Speaker 11 (11:15):
No?
Speaker 12 (11:15):
I feel like, uh, you know, the hits come when
you when you're forging a well. I feel like the
structure that we want to play it's a you know,
a first guy goes hard and you know, try to
try to get the puck out of the demon. And
I feel like my part is over there, so you know,
kind of touch on the demon. Uh, you know, It's
it's not that I'm going out there and looking for
a hits. Uh, it's more of a try to get there. Uh,
you know, take take the hit on for the d
(11:37):
N now, you know, get the puck puck from my linemates. Yeah,
I mean I don't know what's going on. They probably
counted the hits wrong. Large got five.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Finally here, you know, some big games coming up this
week going into the break. You've got Calgary on on Sunday,
Detroit Toronto, then back in Calgary next Saturday. Obviously, I
think like the obvious answer to this question is gonna
be just win baby, But what's gonna be the mindset
for this group going into the break. With these four
big games looming next week, they're huge.
Speaker 12 (12:07):
I feel like, right now we just have to keep
this momentum going for like today it was a it
was a full sixty. I think that's what we have
to bring every night right now on these last four
or five games that we have, and uh, you know,
I feel like if you win games right now and
you can, you can injure the break a little bit more.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
All right, et thanks for the time, man. We'll talk
to you down the road.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
Thank you for Ellie told what in two point night
and always great to to get some laughter and some
smiles on the post game show. But I'm with you
and Larson over here with six with five hits tonight, Yeah,
we're gonna.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
Not sure he's doing the counting up there.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
All right, I'll back over to you.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
Let me finish my ticket. Yeah, yeah, So I was
talking about Ellie and Channer having a big game. That
was fantastic. Larson. I had been down five hits plus
one three stars, mamakay. They're all cracking players. So I
hope your pen doesn't run out, like mind it literally
he went to the back people. Third starting night goes
to Chandler Stevenson. He had one goal to assist plus four.
(13:02):
Second star goes to Oliver york Strand he had one goal,
one assist. He was a plus three. And your first
star goes to the man with two goals, Brandon Montour.
He was plus one and I want to mention honorable
mention as well, Jimmy alexiak Oh one assist, plus one,
four shots on goal and six blocked shots.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
So the Big Rig getting it done as well he did.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
And I think the biggest block shot Joey Dcory made
a pretty good save and the rebound biscuit served up
right to the slot and Big Rig got down, got down.
That's to block it. That doesn't here for us, but
not for the night. Mike Benton eagerly awaiting to recap
this one six to two cracking over San Jose. We
will talk to you Sunday, Mike Benton, take it away.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (13:43):
So now here's to the crack and making you run
out of ink continuously, the krack and wanting a decisive win.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
He's got Stevenson walking in soon steal Taandler.
Speaker 20 (19:38):
Stevenson picks up the puck on the right side of
the high slot.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
He'll walk in and wrist one pass. Askarov what crack
in on top one? Nothing? Sixteen oh five to play
in the first.
Speaker 4 (19:51):
Want to talked about shortening the ice in the three keys,
That's exactly what Seattle's does here. Quick poove of the
puck up the boards, new defensive zone to byork stramp
Buorkstrand finds to Jepson on the far blue line.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
He's in on a breakaway.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
He'd beat Askarov blocker side one nothing, cracking.
Speaker 13 (20:06):
That would be a moment. With the cracking offense and
Chandler Stevenson's evening here for this one, his six goal
in seventeen games, sends a break ended Chandler Stevenson putting
the Cracking up one nothing. Just three fifty five into
the game, Oliver b york Strand and Ellie Tolvenen together
on a line starting here for this evening, they already
cash in. It didn't take long. The Cracking up won nothing.
(20:29):
The San Jose would respond, Carl Grunstrom getting a bank
at the net for only a second of the season,
coming a seventeen to fifty five Will Smith Mikyle Grantlin
have the helper, Smith extending his scoring streak to six
consecutive games with points won one tie the game a
bit in doubt. The second period would certainly be crucial,
(20:51):
the cracking get going on a two to one lead,
the york Strand's fifteen goal of the season coming at
two to oh three. Stevenson and Vince done with the
helpers and then not too long after that, here comes
Brandon Montour.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Alker Dour turns it over Shane Wright high slot.
Speaker 6 (21:08):
Montour the match.
Speaker 20 (21:14):
Brandon Montour, fresh off the bench, snaps one in from
the high slot in the Seattle cracket, have a two
goal lead of three to one, seventeen.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
Oh six to play at the second.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
Shane Raight on the off boards there roving the puck.
It was broken up by offensive play, gets his head up,
finds Montour coming off the bench. Montour puts it off
the plumbing three to one.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
Kracking.
Speaker 13 (21:39):
Last goal for Brandon Montour came December fourteenth against Tampa Bay,
a twenty game goal scoring drought. Is in the rearview
mirror and gone his ninth in the season, courtesy Shane
Wright at two point fifty four, the Cracking getting a
three to one advantage. Jaydon Schwarz then offer tripping by
the way at three forty seven. The Kraken kill it
(21:59):
off and with Schwartz fresh out of the box, what
could he do with nothing but highway on Yarrow Slavaskara
that only was done now.
Speaker 20 (22:07):
Jamie Alexiak gets it up the rise, Jayden Schwartz, Henry.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
And Jarn picks up the buck down the shock stood.
Speaker 20 (22:16):
Jayden Swartz fresh out the box, the Seattle cracking after
being himmed.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
In for the entire penalty kill. Schwartz out steps into
the zone, puck sends up the ice by the big rig.
Speaker 20 (22:30):
Alexiak finishes four one Seattle.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
It was a great cute clear by Alexiak, but I
know that he knew Schwartz was coming out of the
penalty box. Schwartz with a ton of team, has no
problem building a breakaway off that pass and beats Askarov
blocker side down load.
Speaker 13 (22:48):
That's how veterans get it done. Jayden Schwartz's team leading
eighteen goal the season, coming at five pin fifty eight.
Jamie Alexiak threatened the long pass, getting the only assist
on the play. Schwartz with goals and that to back
games and that would be it for Yaroslavaskarov pulled after
allowing four goals on eleven shots and incomes Alexander Giorgia
(23:09):
San Jose then getting through a bit of a rough
patch as far as penalties, with frustrations boiling over, Nikolai

this evening. Want to invite you to jump in right
now four nine four five one on the Talmer Dude

pretty cool here to award you if you text us

So this evening Wow. Chandler Stevenson three point effort. Brandon
(39:28):
Montour busting out of a slump in a big, big
way twenty games without a goal. It is in the
rear view mirror. Jaden Schwartz after this morning talking about
how this team felt a totality of responsibility. Got his
eighteen goal the season to knockout knockout Yaroslav Askarov. That's
leadership and only told it in continuing a four game
(39:52):
goal streak here in this one. We're gonna hear from
Ben Stum, We're gonna hear from Brandon Montour, Dan Bilsma
as well. As you look at how this game went
through back in period one, I kind of got the
sense about a few minutes here from the opening shift
and what did it tell you? Four nine, four or
five one. I like the push, I liked the jam.
(40:15):
I like the drive from the Shane right line. And
at one point I thought on that one shift early
on that Andre Berakowski was going to get one. And
that was a shift where I thought, you know, that's
your blueprint five for the inside, get good looks.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
And that was maybe an.
Speaker 13 (40:31):
Omen that I think set the tone here in this one,
because the metrics backed up what we saw here, and
the Kraken were dominant getting the scoring chances, they were
dominant in finding open ice and were able to execute the.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
One nothing goal.
Speaker 13 (40:45):
Well, you ask where was the Sharks defense? The cracking
were all over it and there strand great recognition tape
to tape for Chandler. Steven said, what a pass he
threaded for him on a shot where Askar Rob just
whipped on it and had a tough night with a
crack and knocked Tim mount on four go and eleven shots.
So to me, for much a period one they were
trying to push their way ahead here to a lead
(41:07):
one to one, tie, defensive breakdown the Sharks creating a
low two to one one and that game is pretty
much in doubt at that point. And we mentioned back
in the pregame part of this how critical the second
period would be because it had been a problem for
the Kraken in the most recent stretch and a problem
as well against San Jose where the Sharks were able
to explode on the Kraken in the previous two games here,
(41:31):
so the second period was kind of like moving day
in golf, for this is kind of the same feel
that this game had, where in previous games the Kraken
had stumbled. What kind of move were you going to
make this evening? The Kraken were ready that second period.
They played with pace, they feasted on San Jose breakdowns,
They stood up for brandon Montour. Remember that when you
(41:53):
got cross checked right in the back. Nast heard the
hornet's nest and the Kraken saw Vince dun dropping mits
with head rethrund at about six thirty nine in the
period two. They got a power play out of that
as well, Nikolai Kovalenko given two for roughing and then
San Jose falling apart with discipline, the Crack can get
a five on three. And that's so important when you
(42:14):
go back to that scrum, because we've seen them kind
of creep or tiptoe in the scrums in the past.
Well this year like tonight, wasting no time, jumping all
over the Sharks and one of their players was a
target of San Jose taking a run in brandon Montour.
Then the timeout that was a great call. That was
a Kraken sensing and then going for the death blow.
(42:38):
I mean, you squader a five on three, maybe we've
saw what happened to Edmonton Monday. Or even if you
let a five on four slip, they lead for to one. Yeah,
but the Sharks are kind of feeling momentum and still
plenty of game as well to make up that deficit.
But this time the timeout paid off. You go up
five to one, and it completely left San Jose disoriented, frustrated.
(43:00):
They were taking runs again, and there's no question really
who had control of this one. Right after Brandon Montour's
five on three goal two goals for him tonight, he
looked like the Brandon Montour of old here in this
right regular season much earlier, with a first star effort.
What'd you think? Four nine four five one. I want
to hear one word from you to describe this victory
(43:20):
here that comes to your mind. Four nine four five one.
Got something cool here to award you. A little bit
later on first off, out of the room we go
and meeting the media is cracking. Defenseman Vince Done.
Speaker 29 (43:34):
He'll get a mature right.
Speaker 14 (43:44):
Me too.
Speaker 30 (43:46):
Well, Vin's pretty big bounce back win tonight. What was
your kind of general assessment of the game tonight?
Speaker 31 (43:51):
All were pretty solid for the most part. I think
we definitely traded, just some chances that we need to
look back on and limit, But for the most part,
we pressured hard and we took advantage of the big
moments that we had to come up in. I think
the power play got us going there some big goals,
and after the PK was really good, we got a
big one there again. So just little moments like that
(44:12):
are very important to be able to get wins.
Speaker 30 (44:14):
Obviously a feisty game tonight. What do you think sparked
some of that?
Speaker 1 (44:18):
Well?
Speaker 31 (44:19):
I think obviously our home record just overall has never
been good enough, and we want to make this place
a hard place to play in. So that comes with
attitude and sometimes things happen like that. So I think everyone.
Speaker 13 (44:34):
Just came out battled hard.
Speaker 1 (44:36):
We know.
Speaker 31 (44:38):
Obviously the tough situation with our goalie, and they kind
of come after our goalie a little bit there, so
we got to stand up from there, and yeah, things happen,
and it's.
Speaker 15 (44:50):
How important was it for you guys to be able
to put together like a really full, complete team effort
in this one for the confidence of the room.
Speaker 31 (44:56):
Yeah. I think overall the game was pretty solid. I
think think in the first we were a little bit.
Speaker 13 (45:03):
Stationary and long.
Speaker 31 (45:04):
I think we didn't give up a whole lot, but
we definitely didn't create enough as we wanted to and
as the game went on, we took advantage of our
opportunities and that's the way we need to play.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
And like I said, the.
Speaker 31 (45:13):
Big moments pp p K, scoring at the right times,
changing the momentum when we need to that's what we
need to do to win games at this time.
Speaker 1 (45:23):
Of the year.
Speaker 32 (45:23):
And speaking of creating, obviously Monty has been doing a
lot of that lately. But get him to get a
couple of goals, tonw you kind of feel pretty good
for him.
Speaker 1 (45:32):
Yeah, as I feel.
Speaker 31 (45:32):
But it's been a while, huh, just saving a couple,
but now we we rely on him to make plays
and he makes someone We need him too, So for
him to get a couple there, I'm sure that feels
really good for him. By no means, has even struggling
playing playing five on five, and you know, goals don't
mean everything, so it's nice for him to get rewarded.
Speaker 1 (45:52):
Finally.
Speaker 13 (45:54):
Oh what a moment there, brand him on tour. Right
nearby Vince Done in the chorus as a teammate. You
gotta recognize, you gotta recognize Vince Done tonight getting into
a scrap back in the second period, all that part
of the chaos, the crack and were able to weave
in their favor. He had an assist as well five
shot attempts. Additionally, one goal shy of a Gordy hal
(46:14):
hat trick. And we've heard before from the inside here
on the cracking side, Vince Dunn's got that look in
his eyes sometimes and we when he gets on a mission,
there is no stopping Vince done. And did that scrum
light the fuse in him and this team as well?
Crack and wins six to two again. I want to
hear one word from you that describes this evening four
(46:36):
nine four five one four two five saying it was
about resilience. Four to two five elsewhere is saying this
was explosive, the two to five to three saying this
game should have happened. The next game will decide as
far as the roster move, but that was a spark
here to light a fire here for this team. Now
the four to two five saying it's nice to get
some revenge here for thanksgiving a high energy game, a
(46:58):
big save here as well, by the big rig. He
was cooking right now this evening in the in the
block shots category and a four game streak from yip
tip of the hat to ever fits you, mister Golvanan,
they call him Mellie Tolbnin as well. Hopefully the boys
can keep that up here for the Calgary games that
from the four to five again Kraken wins six to
(47:20):
two over the San Jose Sharks Chandler Stevenson, Carl Grunstrom
training first period goals and then the Kraken opening the
flood gates in the second with four unanswered goals the
York Strand Montour's first of two, Schwartz, Montour's second on
the power play, all that knocking out yarrowslav Askarov, Tyler
to fully cut to five to two in the third,
(47:40):
Ellie Tolbnen finishing touch this year in a six two victory,
and the Kraken with one more matchup remaining here in
this series, that's in April and San Jose. They got
a chance to even this series up at two to
two for the final in the regular season set. Speaking
to Brandon Montour first start of the game, let's go
right back down right now where he meets with the media.
Speaker 20 (48:01):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, So, Mandy, how does it feel that
if it Vin says, it must feel good to get
a couple goals.
Speaker 33 (48:10):
Yeah, yeah, I mean yeah, anytime you could score some
goals and see them going, it's nice. You know, it's
been a little cold the last I don't even know
fifteen to twenty games. But you keep creating, you know,
you're getting cold spells. You try to find ways to
you know, other ways to you know, help the team
and like where my game's at, and it's just nice
to kind of get hopefully a couple more keep coming.
Speaker 30 (48:29):
Once you guys scored there in the second period, you
start to feel a little momentum building and just kind
of ride that wave or what happened there in the
second Yeah, No.
Speaker 33 (48:36):
I think we kept the energy going, big big plays
and times when we needed and like I said, you know,
the physicality was good obviously done Ski with a scrap
to kind of keep going and protect each other, which
is obviously huge and what we need, you know, to
be good moving forward. But you know, big plays and
big moments and you know, we get that win and
(48:56):
keep going.
Speaker 30 (48:57):
On the five on three where you scored, nice past
and play there at mccannon and Stevenson. Can you kind
of talk through what happened on that play?
Speaker 33 (49:05):
Yeah, obviously he starts with a face off win. Uh,
making plays, getting you know, shooters in the right spots,
and then obviously five one, three spread them out and
you know, good plays by everyone.
Speaker 34 (49:15):
Brandon in the first period, you get tangled up with
Jamie Alexi. Yeah, and then the puck goes in off
Shane Wright's skate and are you thinking for a moment,
here we go again, where is the pup block?
Speaker 1 (49:29):
Uh no, just a bad break.
Speaker 33 (49:30):
I think we you know, turned around pretty quick.
Speaker 1 (49:33):
Again.
Speaker 33 (49:33):
Those are just kind of silly plays that uh you
know happened in games off skate saw sticks. I think
it went off the reft too in the corner to
start it all. But again guys battled back and uh
you know kept going.
Speaker 32 (49:47):
Yeah that sequence. So you guys don't score in the
last two minutes, but you are controlling the puck and
then you come and score those whatever number it was
pretty quickly in the second and four goals in eight minutes.
Speaker 1 (49:59):
Yeah, yeah, quick. Again.
Speaker 33 (50:01):
I think we just kept shifted by shift. Get one,
you get two, you get three, you get forwards. You know,
big plays one after another, and when you do that,
it's you know, dangerous hockey club. And then obviously keeps
the other team on their toes and you know, kind
of puts them down. So, uh, it's good energy. We
just got to keep that, keep keep that, keep that going.
Speaker 9 (50:19):
You repaired up with Jamie again tonight.
Speaker 11 (50:21):
What did you think of his game defensively?
Speaker 24 (50:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 33 (50:24):
Solid, obviously defensively solid, But I don't know how many
times he was in the ozone making plays, getting some
good looks. Cut add a few tonight as well, but again, uh,
you know he keeps those uh you know, hidden, but
when needed. He's got obviously the skill for a big boy,
so obviously a heck of a game for him.
Speaker 30 (50:41):
Rand in the big fractice in the second period, kind
of happened started with you and and kind and what
was kind of your take on how that all shook
out there.
Speaker 33 (50:49):
I think he just came in with a Pope check late.
Speaker 1 (50:51):
I didn't like it.
Speaker 33 (50:53):
We kind of got tangled up there, not really much
going on there, but then everyone kind of protected each other,
which was obviously huge for our group. We need more
of that, just to kind of protect each other, be physical.
I think we got that in our game that I
think we need to get out a little bit more.
But it was nice to kind of have everyone in
there and you know, helping each other out.
Speaker 13 (51:14):
Its Brandon Montur meeting with the media is again the
crack had knock off the shark six to two. Montor
with a pair of goals in this one and front
and center in that scrum where for the four to
two five says you need to come out with the
same fire each and every game. That sequence, as we said,
stirred the hornet's nest and the Kraken wasted no time
getting involved emotionally and physically. It lit a fire, It
(51:37):
lit a fuse, and that turned into the five on
three power play goal as well. I want to know
also about Joey to Cord tonight it was kind of
a footnote maybe among the three stars here, but he
looks solid. What do you think of him? Four nine, four, five, one,
twenty six saves on twenty eight shots. And the question
I had here because the basic saves, you know, I
have no problem with. He'll math what he could tested
(52:00):
early as well, but tonight he looked good. He looked confident,
he looked in control, and that's the kind of goaltending
that's turning a one season show that people said, Okay,
what do you have next into a season now that
it's telling many here I am and here I am
for good. He's got great numbers across the board, say
percentage among lead leaders. So what is your level of
(52:23):
confidence right now in Joey decord on a scale of
one to ten, and how much can you see decord?
Maybe playing with less than thirty games left? Are we
talking fifteen games, twenty games or more than twenty games? Four, nine,
four or five to one? Go ahead in Texas right now,
by the way, great time here too. Remind you now
that the game is over, it's time for a dis run.
(52:44):
So what's your go to when you make a Dix run?
It's the two cheese, burgers and fries. Maybe your Deluxe
and a shake kind of person. How about a special
burger and a Sunday Well for seventy years Dix driving
still it serves up the best food at the best
price in the shortest time. Up into one of the
nine Puget Sound area Dick's drive in locations. Today we're

awarding a Dick T shirt and twenty dollars in Dick's
gift Bucks. Again to enter Texas four, nine, four or
five to one and tell us one word you would
use to describe this one here. From this evening you'll
be entered to win the Dick T shirt and twenty
dollars in Dick's gift cards again Texas four nine four
five one head coach Dan Bilsma. After this, the Krack
(53:27):
and wins six to two over the San Jose Sharks

three KJARFM.

point three KJR FM cross.
Speaker 20 (55:44):
But Canada the airside Montaor Brandon's going full Monty here tonight.
That's a five one cracking lead his second goal about
the second.
Speaker 13 (55:59):
Very another epic goal call by Everett fits you as
the Kraken explode this evening and Brandon Montor exploding out
of a twenty game goal scoring drought. He add to
this evening all tacking up six goals. Great time here
to remind you this season, Hearts, plumbers, electricians and age
fact technicians will donate fifty dollars to Children's Hospital for
(56:20):
every Kracking goal scored the Crack and adding another three
hundred dollars tonight after six goals. They have raised seventy
nine hundred dollars to dates. Will keep you updated throughout
the season thanks to Hearts. Mike Betting with you back
here for talking Cracking and Climate Pledge Arena checking down
stairs once again, here's Cracking and coach Dan Bilsma.
Speaker 30 (56:55):
Dan with the kind of the big news here yesterday
and how emotional tiny four.
Speaker 11 (57:00):
Hours probably done for the sean bigger response as.
Speaker 19 (57:03):
I figured se Uh, uh, I say, a great response,
a really good response. And you know I thought, uh
we stepped over the board tonight with a uh with
a purpose and and uh it showed it was a
really good start and it carried over for the whole
sixty and and just uh even you know how the
(57:26):
game was played. There was emotion in it and uh
we played it with some passion and and uh it
showed what went right in that second period?
Speaker 30 (57:36):
I mean, did you just score four an answer goals there?
Speaker 2 (57:39):
What what happened there?
Speaker 19 (57:41):
I I I think it was just to carry over
from the first and you know fortune and I want
to say fortunate, but uh, you you force uh you
force other teams uh into mistakes with with your aggression
and playing it your toes and and you know that's
(58:02):
what the the the mark strangle, the one that got
to score on there in the second was and it
just continued after that with uh you know again the
A four check or force the turnover writer makes a
great play of money, get an opportunity on the five
on three, we cash in and and uh you know
(58:23):
it's four goals and rapid succession. It was good to see.
Speaker 32 (58:30):
Hey, Dan has been said it's not but a lot.
He's been struggling lately, but it must be nice to
see him get a couple of goals tonight.
Speaker 19 (58:39):
Uh, very good cause I you know it you only
say he's struggling because he's had opportunities to to score
and they have him been going in. But you know,
great to see him get the first one, get the
second one on the five on three. You know it
(59:00):
was is just kind of a carryover for the team
as well. I think you know, we've we've had some
opportunities here as of late to to score some goals
and and get things going in the right direction, and
you know at times they haven't come and and UH
to have money lead the way, get that goal and
get the second goal. It's just UH felt momentum for
(59:22):
the team.
Speaker 32 (59:23):
H'm not in the score sheet, but rikers out to
night Cale comes in.
Speaker 19 (59:27):
What'd you think he is reforming team confident? I think
Cale Cale is UH a guy who's uh has shown
he can play at this level and UH be at
this level, and he's spent being a force down in CV,
especially at the beginning of the year. He had the
injury for a bit, but he's a guy who everyone
(59:50):
in that room and I know can play at this
level and and stepped right in tonight real confident, made
a ton of good plays, played good defensively and and
you was a big part of it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (01:00:02):
Certainly worth mentioning is that those words from cracking head
coach Dan Bilsma Kale Flurry maybe buried here amongst the
big storylines. But his first game up from AHL Coachella
Valley thirteen fifty one of ice time this evening, he
had a shot on goal. He had four block shots
as well, plus one. Additionally, you can't ask m for
(01:00:23):
much more when you put him into a depth pairing
like he had this evening with Josh mhera Kale Flurry.
He knows Dan Biosma from last season in Coachella Valley
plus previous history as well. That's all you can ask
for out of him and help him do his part
as well on this blue line as a crack and
again wins six to two over the Calgary or over
the San Jose Sharks. I love that same score coming
(01:00:44):
up against Calgary next game that's on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
We got to get out of here.
Speaker 13 (01:00:48):
So a quick preview of this one, Well, people said
the Flames weren't going to make the playoffs, and they're
telling folks, well, think again. And they've been hanging in there.
And they made a pretty massive trade here from this
evening with the Philadelphia Flyers, as they acquired Joel Faerbee
in that deal as well. Part of that additionally, Andre
(01:01:11):
Kuzmenko as that deal again pulled off here by the
Calgary Flames draft picks also heading out to Philadelphia. The
deal is Morgan Frost, Joel Ferbee from the Flyers going
to Calgary. Andre Cusmenko Jacob Pelchier draft picks as well
from Calgary to the Philadelphia side, so we'll see if
they're gonna be making They're stopping here to Seattle after
that big trade and the Flames also playing length. They
(01:01:34):
were pretty fired up here against that deal in a
four to one win over the Anaheim Ducks. Breaking out
back to back loss is a big key for them
this season. The surface numbers aren't that flattering when you
talk about goals for, goals against, power play, penalty kill,
et cetera. Their middle to bottom of the pack, but
they're goaltending. You might recall this name here from these
(01:01:55):
parts from the previous few years, Dustin Wolf, the former
Everest Silver tip in the running for the Calder Trophy
nine to one, five say percentage on this side special
teams that could be a big factor. Calgary's power play
seventeenth and their penalty killed twenty ninth in the NHL
entering today, So it's a big one coming up here
(01:02:15):
as a crack and trying to lop off more of
the gap behind them and Calgary, who's right now the
last team in for the playoff picture. Second of four
meetings coming up in the Kraken last matchup one two
to one in overtime way back on October nineteenth. That game,
by the way, Sunday, six pm Pacific here at Climbate
Pledge Arena, airtime at five thirty and we'll all be
