(00:00):
Are you dealing with a cold?Yeah, I am getting over around one
and a half of a sinus infection. My ye gave me antibiotics for the
first round, but didn't give methe full ten days, so it didn't
actually get rid of it. Mademe feel better for a few days and
then came back. I mean,do we air the doctor out? I
mean, that's I'm always about justairing people out. Well, you know
what, I actually ended up havingto go to urgent characters. The first

(00:23):
one got so bad and I couldn'twait for the doctor's appointment, and so
I didn't even know the doctor's name. But new doctor, actual doctor.
Yeah, ten days of stuff,So hopefully this kicks the worst. It
is the worst. And you know, we have jobs where your voice has

(00:43):
to sound pretty decent. Yeah, you know, it's a requirement. You
know, it's it's kind of oneof those things you kind of need it,
you kind of need Yeah, you'reright, you're right. Yeah.
And then on top of that,I'm singing the national anthem on Sunday at
the Evert Aquacie. No you aren't, I really am, and get out
of town. Yeah, let's go. Yeah. Well, I mean everyone's

(01:04):
gonna be like, wow, that'sa great sound that she's got coming.
Yeah, well yeah, maybe Imean people, Yeah, I mean you're
gonna the stuffed up sound I thinkis it's where it's where it's at right
now. I'll be like, oh, Bessie, well maybe that it's got
a very soul. I think maybethat very sultry maybe, yeah, motown

(01:25):
vibe. I'll try to channel myinner Phoebe and friends when she's like yeah,
yeah, yeah, there you go. Think of the positives. Yeah,
that's uh, that's what I'll workon. Um, here's a positive.
Yeah. How about that tony femalepick last, how about that phene
pick huh thing that I couldn't usethem after hyping them up? Well,

(01:46):
and then remember when you couldn't usehim? I was like, well now
he's absolutely winning and I should takehim. But guess what I didn't you
took? Uh? I went withWoodland? No? Oh no, no
Hostler, that's right, that's right. Yeah did you go Woodland? Uh?
No? I went with the WyndhamClark so f you Wyndham? Yeah

(02:06):
that was he did not do itterrible, you were not. I'm on
a really bad like I I it'slike really I've went from in our league,
I went from being like top five. Yeah too, I'm just gonna
look at it right now, butlike top five the first I would say,
after the first swing, which wedo with it's like the Hawaii and

(02:30):
West Coast and yeah, so thefirst swing Hawaiian West Coast. So I
was eight, Okay, okay, now just falling apart, I mean absolutely
falling apart. I am now thirtyfirst out of thirty eight. Oh out
of thirty eight. It's so bad. It's I mean, this is it's

(02:52):
just a nightmare scenario for me.Like so after going you know, top
ten after the first swing, likefeeling good. Yeah, get to the
Honda Classic, Matt Coacher, missusthe cut, get to the Arnold Palmer
Fitzpatrick lou was Fit twenty six,Jason Day was Red Hot Players Championship eleven,
Justin Rose valspar seventeenth, Terrell Hattonmatch Play thirtieth, See who Kim

(03:16):
Texas Open twenty six, Rory Master'sCut, Justin Thomas of the RBC seventeenth,
Wyndham Clark twenty fifth. Just ajust a dumpster fire. Well,
if it makes dumpster fire, I'mnot doing great either I'm twenty second out
of thirty six, so dumb um. I will say though, that your

(03:38):
pick of Gary Woodland was better thanit. I mean if or your pick
of Wyndham Clark went better than ifyou would have gone with Gary Woodland because
thirty he finished thirty ninth. Yeah, Wyndham Clark finished t twenty four,
so sixty tenth, okay, wegot top ten. Good. Yes,
it just makes me so mad.We couldn't take Phe now I know,
and you I wonder how many ofour listeners female because of that and are

(04:00):
thankful for you? Well in ourleague everyone took Fenwe oh really, because
it's just it's exactly what what wesaid. He just you know, God
bless me. Everyone loves Tony Fen. Yeah. He thrives in events in
which the top players aren't there.Well. And the interesting thing is,
obviously our conversation last week we weretalking about Rom and Feene and all of

(04:23):
that, and so Fine ends upbeating Rom by three strokes. So female
goes home with one point three milliondollars almost one point four million dollars.
Rom goes home with eight hundred andthirty nine thousand dollars. So how glad
are people if they didn't go withrom thinking oh gosh, here he goes,
he's gonna win, then you loseto Fenwe and like get half the
money. Yeah, right now,it's a that's a good point. It's

(04:45):
just I just knew that. Ijust knew that son of a gitch was
gonna win. Did I say sonof a gitch? I wanted to say
son of a bitch? And Istopped myself and I went with a son
of a gitch. Well, it'sall right, um, everyone obviously should
have known that Austin Smotherman was goingto be top five because we all do
it right, hit the cough button. No, that's all right. UM,
I love though that. UM.I liked the strategy of last week.

(05:10):
So here's what I'm going to proposemoving forward. If you could get
like fully sold on a golfer thatyou think is going to absolutely dominate a
tournament, then wait towards till likethe end of the middle of the podcast,
figure out that you've used him before. Yeah I already had. I
already have my guy. Okay,I've used him, but I've once I

(05:30):
can pull him back to use himagain. Okay, all right, Okay,
okay, that makes sense. Sowell that that's about it for last
week at the Mexico Open, ityeah, just worthless. You know we've
had a cut, you know, three in a row, just worthless.
Yeah, well this week is notworthless. Yeah. Wells Fargo good another
elevated event, twenty million bucks,no Scheffler, no Rami, but still

(05:53):
a pretty good feel. Yeah, you still get Rory and can't lay in
speech and you know Cam Young Homafemale, Yeah, you know Woodland Sunjay
j T. I think I mentionedSpeth already. So it's still a good
field and so hopefully it's a littlebit better action we've seen the last few
weeks for sure. Well, sowho are you do? You want to

(06:14):
tell us right away who your favorite? Or I'm gonna I'm gonna take Max
Hooma. Max, he's the defendingchamp. He also won in two thoy
nineteen when they had the President's Cupthere at Quail Hollow. He was four
o and oh so okay, I'mI need a hot I need a play
and I'm just gonna roll. Ineed a top player who's got a pedigree
there and come on, Max,how to do it? Buddy? I

(06:36):
think it's a great choice, isit you need you? What are the
keys of you know that people Whenpeople are looking for their golfers this week,
what should be they be honing inon it? Well as far's hit
it straight? Can I just sayright now we are an awesome duel.
We've been just alternating hitting the coughbutton. Oh are you hitting the cough
button? Du Yeah, I'm chokingto death right now. It was like,

(06:58):
so talk longer pockets I've got Ohyeah, I've got I've got something
cut in my throat. Uh,it's a true bomber's course. Eighty four
percent of the drives over two hundredand eighty yards. Driving accuracy is about
fifty four percent, so one ofthe lowest on the tour, non penal
rough. So you're not gonna getto that sound weird, victim, Yeah,

(07:20):
non penal, Right, it doesn'tsound it doesn't. Yeah, it
doesn't sound good. You say somethinglike that. You can hit a far
and you don't have to be worriedabout being offline. Okay, So find
uh, find your bombers and andthen maybe cross check it with with accuracy.

(07:41):
Why it doesn't even matter, Justfind ah, you know PG eight.
You know, driving distance staff thatwould say, and again, like
I said, it doesn't have tobe accuracy, it's just who hits it
the farthest and then just um,you know, go with that one because
that is um that's always kind ofbeen the play here, okay, and
longest drives and driving percent, drivingdistance like Rory, that's why Rory's had

(08:03):
success here. If you haven't usedRoy, Rory would be good time and
he's been off for a few weeksobviously since the Masters, but again number
one on the tour and driving distance, yeah he would be. Rom's not
there, but Gary Woodland would beanother one. Okay, you have to
talk now because you have to coughagain. Yeah, well, so I
the interesting thing is looking at soobviously another elevated event. So with twenty

(08:24):
million dollars, you're like, well, yeah, I can pretty much use
anyone and not feel like I'm notgoing to get my money's worth. Some
of the names I saw quite abit, Cam Young and Victor Hovland.
Yeah. Cam Young feels like he'sdue for a breakout, right, Yeah
he does, and quite a fewpeople were picking him to potentially do well
this week, so I kind oflike him third and driving distance. Okay,

(08:46):
let me know if you have tocough, Yeah, no, I
will, I'm good. Yeah, okay, good. Third knowlgies. Okay,
that's good. Third and driving distanceKeith Mitchell. Keith Mitchell is a
good one. If you haven't usedhim, I've already used Keith Mitchell.
But sixteenth and driving distance. Andthen if you cross check that he's great
with um uh, accuracy or acuracy A curacy. Yeah, that's right.

(09:07):
I forgot about a curtsy. Youforgot. We haven't used a curtasy
in a while. We haven't.You know what, I've honestly missed it.
Well, a courtesy is one ofthose things that I think. It's
it's it's fun for everyone. Really. Um, what else is they?
Oh, they've got pretty firm greens. They're you know, all up and
down to udulated greens. Okay,um at quail Hall, I think the

(09:31):
average proximity to the whole it's aboutforty three feet. It's one of the
furthest on the tour. Okay.Um, let's see. I'm just reading
that every single putty metric is tougherthan average, especially three putt a boardings.
So because your distance on the greenis averaging about forty three feet.
That's you gotta be a good lagputter, So find somebody can lag it

(09:52):
up there, because if you don'tdo that, then you're gonna be three
putting in. That's no good. You know, I'm I'm no expert.
Three putting no good, Ashley. No, you're not supposed to three putt.
You're not supposed to four put either. It's actually the lower amount of
puts that you take is the betterway. What's the most amount of putts?
You know? Have you you fourputted before? Have you five putted?
Oh? Yeah? Oh yeah,I mean sometimes you know, you're

(10:16):
just hitting the ball around the greenjust seeing what's going to happen. I
think I have five putted. Iprobably have. I know I four putted
before. I might have four puttedand then just been like you know what,
I'm just gonna yeah, just gonnatake an X on this one.
Gotta score on the par fives. There's there's three of a mash two okay,

(10:37):
so there's three par fives you gottascore, and then there's also two.
Ah, it's pretty drivable. Parfour's okay, but you got to
get to and if you can getthrough those holes. You know what a
way you go. You're easy, breezy, Okay, I like that.
Um, obviously this week, noJohn rob No Scottie Scheffler. You're taking

(10:58):
the week off. And I waslooking up some sleepers. They did count
Keith Mitchell, who you mentioned asa sleeper because he's sixty to one.
It looks like m But then KeeganBradley also sixty to one, and that
kind of intrigued me a little bit. I like a Keegan Bradley. Yeah.
His last five Wells Fargo Championship finisheshere at Quel Hollow, eighteenth and

(11:20):
twenty twenty one. Okay, hedid miss the cut in twenty nineteen seventy
six, so he hasn't basically playedthere since twenty twenty one, and he
finished eighteenth, And I think he'sa better golfer than he was in the
missed cuts era. You're showing waydown, way back when, even though
I've already already determined I'm gonna takehome, I feel I have the right

(11:41):
to always change my mind. Yeah, absolutely, I would, based on
the news this week. I don'tknow why, just a hunch. One.
He's a great golfer. Drives ita ton, But because he made
a caddie switch, I would Iwould take a look at Patrick Cantley if
you haven't used him, not usedhim, And I do love myself so

(12:03):
Patrick Cantley, except for the amountof time it takes him to putt well.
I think in the news this weekhe's Joel Lakava is going to be
his new caddy. And for thosemaybe I don't know who Joel Lakava is.
Joe lakov has been the longtime caddyfor Tiger Woods, and before he
was a caddy for Tiger Woods wascaddy for Fred Couples. I would say
Joe lakov has had a pretty goodtrack record so far, I'd say so.

(12:24):
And if there's anyone that's going tohelp, you know, Patrick Cantley,
not just not only just kind ofspeed up his play, but you
know, win more at a greaterrate, yeah, it could be Joe
Lakova. And Patrick Cantley has gotall the skills in the world. There's
not really anything he doesn't do well. And so if you have someone on
your bag that there's a good influenceknows the course. Maybe there's some knowledge

(12:46):
based on working with Tiger and basedon working with Freddy Couples. You know,
I think Patrick Hanley can soak itup. I think we talked about
this on the podcast maybe maybe afew weeks ago, Joe Lacavas, who
I was advocating for for Royer mclroy. I think Roy McElroy need needed someone
like Joel cob on his bag andnot not his buddy, and to give

(13:07):
you know, maybe a more professionalcaddy. I'm just someone that's not gonna
be a yes guy. And butobviously that opportunity has passed and now he's
gonna be working with Kenley is Lakama. Yeah, that's a great I think
that's a great period for them, and that Patrick Kenley is the second has
the second highest odds there, sohe's twelve to one with Roy Bean obviously.
First, what do you think aboutFowler? A lot of fowlers getting

(13:30):
a lot of play this week,Hunt. I saw him mentioned as well.
I was going to ask you, let's go because if I love him
and I want him to do well, but I feel like every time I
rely on him to do well,he does not well. Five top tens
there, excuse me, five toptens overall, just just this year nine
top twenties. He's seven of hislast eight starts him in top twenties,

(13:50):
which that's pretty damn good one there. In twenty twelve, he's got three
top tens at Quail Hollow. Thatdoes not include a hied for fifth three
five years ago at the PGA Championship, which was there. Okay, of
course knowledge playing better playing well fieldagain is you know, it still has
top players, but it doesn't havethe two big guys. So and it

(14:15):
doesn't have the pressure on him.Yeah, it doesn't have the pressure on
because what wouldn't We saw him atthe last tournament that was when he was
trying to qualify for the Mansters,I believe, so there's a lot of
pressure there on that day. Um, Okay, I like that pick two.
I'm sure I don't hate that.No, I don't know. I
mean Fowler would be um. Hejust kind of feels like this year,

(14:35):
at least for Ricky Fowler at umthat it that it's that it's close for
him, that it's really close. And Victor Hovlin has also get a lot
of play. Victor Hovland has alwaysplayed well. They're tied for three back
in twenty one, his only startand there. Yeah he's been he's been
playing great golf. So but yeah, I generally can't lay poma. Yeah,

(14:58):
I just I love the you know, I love the past success there.
Cameron Young is you know, he'stalk about hitting it far and we
just mentioned Cameron Young just feels likehe's on the verge eventually winning it.
And he blisters the ball. Imean he carries it three h three.
I mean that that is second toRory who carries a three ten. I

(15:18):
mean he blisters the ball. Hisodds twenty two to one two, so
they're pretty high. So I meanpeople are people are pretty high on him.
Yeah. Man, this is toughthough, because my I never know
to trust my head or my heart. My head okay, but I also

(15:39):
don't go ones in my head andwhich ones in my heart. Well that's
that sounds like a personal problem isthe real problem. I can't solve that
for you. All I can solveis just where they go ahead or your
heart. Cam Young is just it'she's sticking out right there for me,
like it's his name, just keepslingering there in the back. Just a
rerual cortex, do it? Okay. Strokes gained I'll give you a good

(16:00):
list. Okay. Oh wait, while you do that, I'm gonna look
and see if I've used Cam Young, because if I have, we're gonna
know for sure that he's gonna win. Okay, good, Okay, Yeah,
I thought you were coughing again. No, no, no, I
think I'm over my coughing episode. All right, what do we got?
What do we got? What dowe got? Strokes gained twenty and seventeen
through two thousand and twenty one.Strokes gained total number one with six rounds.

(16:26):
Rory McElroy he has finished in thattime, average finished eleventh. Jason
Day second was strokes gained at thirtypoint eight fourteen rounds, but his average
finished thirty three a half. Fowleris third on the list of strokes gained
during that time fourteen rounds, butagain thirty second. Justin Thomas at twenty

(16:47):
six strokes gained total, but hisaverage finishes a sixteen. Victor has Se
Victor hobblin. That's not that's hedoesn't have enough of a sample size.
Um, I'm trying to think ofhe's only played the one time. Um,
yeah, I mean Joe Joel Damon, Oh, Joel Damon has played

(17:08):
twelve rounds there. His average strokesyeah, twenty six and a half.
His average finished twelfth. Okay, which is interesting because I just we just
got none talking about how it's abomber's course. Huh. And he's not
a bomber, right, so howyeah, well, how do I just

(17:29):
how do I justifies? I don'tokay, I don't know. It's sports
him golf. I have no idea. No, you just gotta do what
you got to do. Um.One of the the experts that I always
look at are the ones on pgatourdot com. Yeah, yeah, it
looks like, um, they're allkind of in agreement with all. I
see a Speef though, a speakingJordan. No, this is uh Frank

(17:53):
Speef. How's Frank do? DoesFrank? Does Frank have the weird wind
up swang? Yeah? He doestoo, does the same thing. Yeah,
and he does a little skip ina step after each time he hits
that does a skip on it?I don't mind. I don't mind a
good skip at a step. Nobodydoes. I mean it adds a little
flare, and everyone needs a littleflare when it comes to golf. Um.

(18:15):
Yes, so they say you're JasonDay, Rory McElroy, Cam Young,
can't lay hovelin speef and I didfind out I've used can't lay,
so there's a solid chance he mightwin this week. Okay, but you
haven't used Cam Young. I havenot used Cam Young. Come on?
Feels right, doesn't it? Itdoes feel right? I think I started.
I mean, I'm declaring it now. I mean I'm going with Cam
Young. Have you heard of?Have you heard of? Have you used

(18:41):
Rory? I have used Rory? Now, yeah he didn't. I think
he missed the cut when I usedhim, So I was really thrilled.
That just that's what kills you. When you use these top guys and then
they missed the cut. You're like, f you man, Yeah, f
you you owe me? You do? Like, come on, I am
drives me nuts. I'm a humanover here who's invested real money into your

(19:03):
success. How dare you betray me? It's just hard, That's why.
It's just it's the most difficult thing. I mean, golf is. I
mean everyone says it. It's justthe most difficult thing to pick a winner
in. Yeah, it is,yeah, because it's just some guy.
I mean, it's like when KurtKitty Yama. One like, who was
sitting there thinking, Okay, today'stoday's guy is going to definitely be Kurt
Kitti Yama. You're nut. There'sjust you always have that random person that

(19:27):
just crushes it for some random reason. And then yeah, there's a random
person. Matt Wallace has actually putup some good numbers there, and you're
like, who the hell's Matt Wallace? Exactly right. Yeah, he's a
Brit. I mean, he couldyou could possibly use him. He's he's
pretty high up there in strokes game. But yeah, I mean it's I

(19:48):
mean I would go for the distancehere and try to look at the guy's
top twenty in distance and see,you know, if are they playing in
there, and and go with oneof those guys because it just it seems
that, you know, distance isgoing to be proved to be the number
one thing I'm on this golf course. Yeah, and yeah, I mean
I'm kind of talking myself more andmore into Cameron Young. Oh I love

(20:11):
this. I gotta stop it.And I will say it's really easy for
people who are listening to this togo look at the guys. You can
go onto the PGA Tour website. And you can look at like who hits
it, the furthest they list allthat crowd. You can't, I mean,
don't give away our secret here. No, but well you're saying,
go find the longest hitters. Sothere you go. That's what you can
do. But I you should pairthat with this podcast because if you just

(20:33):
go look at that, you needto know. You need to listen to
this podcasting. You know what youneed to look for each week, parent
with this podcast and a nice Pinotgrief. Yes that's right. Um,
okay, so I'm now now I'mgoing to be very intrigued to find out
who you actually picked this week. But we're gonna I want to leave every
screwed. I'm just gonna I'm gonnastay with home. Okay, Yeah,

(20:56):
I'm just gonna stay with him.I went with it Boom, I'm gonna
stay there and I'm not gonna I'mnot moving off. Well, and let's
be honest, if you didn't gowith Homa and he won, you would
be kicking yourself a lot more thanif you didn't go with Kim Young and
he won, because Kim needin.Yeah, I need to win. I
need to win, big time, big time, big time. You need
to win and I need I needMax Homer to come through for me.

(21:17):
Okay, well, too much toask, No, he can finish second
after Kim Young. I'm kidny thatum Okay, So are we over the
match or what do you think? They've announced the new match version of the
match. It's June twenty ninth, that win Las Vegas and it is a
Chiefs Warriors battle Travis Kelsey and PatrickMahomes against Steph Curry and Clay Thompson.

(21:41):
How do we feel about this one? I mean, you know, well,
like tune in it? When isit again June twenty ninth? I
mean, nothing really much going on? Yeah? What makes that stuff appealing
is more of the personalities. AndI mean Mahome, I mean, Kelsey's
got a good personality, I guess. I mean, Steph's just nice and

(22:03):
Clay's he's quite in need personality. Is it you need Barkeley? When Barkley
did it, and you know theyhad Tom Brady who was a great you
know, blank talker, and PhilMickelson and obviously Phil's never gonna do it
again, right, Yeah, butthat's it's the personalities that make it more
than anything. And Peyton. Peytonwas funny. Yeah, I this group,

(22:26):
I think it will be fine,but it's I don't know if I'm
going to really tune in to herewhat these guys have to say. I
don't think they're really going to saymuch. And that's kind of the entertaining
aspect of it, is it not? I fully agree it is the well
and the interesting thing is so it'llbe on TNT. I want it to
be like a paid like wasn't oneof them like a pay per view,
like we had to pay for itbecause you got full microphone. They could

(22:48):
swear, they could do anything.Oh yeah, probably Oh you want swearing?
Huh yeah. I want them tojust be themselves and not feel like,
oh, I'm on, you know. I mean, I understand they're
going to still be guarded because they'rebeing recorded, but yeah, I just
I wonder if there's a relationship betweenthe four of these guys outside of this,
because that's what you need, isyou need people that know each other
well enough that they can talk trashto each other, not just two basketball

(23:11):
players and two football players. Youknow, it's it's unfortunate, you know,
day and age of just you know, social media and everyone's you know,
offended by everything. You'll just neverlike ideally, you would just get
like four tour players who are justgoing to playing a Saturday game. Yeah,
and mike them up with with drinks. That's what That's what I want
this idea to be. Yeah, but it would never happen because they're just
Yeah, they say something wrong. You can say something wrong and then all

(23:33):
of a sudden they're apologizing and thenthey lose, you know, they lose
that tailor made sponsor, they loseMercedes, they lose you know whatever,
ed medication. I mean, it'sall over. So yeah, that's true.
I just never truly get it.But that's why guys like Berkley and
it was just so he doesn't care. Yeah, that's what made him,
made him so good at it.But you know I may tune in.

(23:55):
Yeah, nothing else going on,not washing my hair well, And it's
interesting that it's a twelve whole match, the good old twelve holes and maybe
their course, maybe win is goingthrough irrigation like ours is, so it's
sometimes holes. Why not just playa whiskey nine. I'm right, I
don't understand. And it's gonna beat night, so under the lights at
win Las Vegas in the evening.Oh really, yeah, have you ever

(24:15):
played that? Have you ever playedon a course like that? Um?
I have played, well, notat that nice of a course, but
I have played nighttime golf in PalmSprings like with then they have lights or
what's the deal? Yeah? Reallyyeah, and it was like a dinky
course, but man, it wasfun and you can see your ball.
Yep. I've played night golf, but it's been with a globe ball.
Yeah. That is hard because thoseballs are not bright. They well,

(24:38):
and then they don't travel as far. And yeah there when you hit them,
it's like just I think one ofmy friends broke as driver hitting one
of those. Oh really yeah.So add this Palm Springs course, so
they have like stadium lights. Yeah, and yeah they're all over and it's
like a I think it's just apar three course. Yeah, it was
just a fun recourse. But itwas fun. We had a good time.

(24:59):
The only probably no uber drivers totake us home, so we waited
for a long time. Oh,she's first world problems or of playing golf
and having money and yeah an uber. I was just gonna say, at
least we were being responsible and thenwe got home and found out that my
friend had actually stolen something from thepro shop on it. Oh that's good.

(25:22):
So we weren't actually as I mean, it wasn't me. It was
on accent. She like was alittle tipsy and went in and put something
on her hat, like to tryit out, and then she got distracted
and just walked out. Well that'sfair. Then she didn't know knowingly walk
out with a stolen item. Shejust forgot to take it off. Yeah.
I don't think that's stealing that.Yeah, no, sure, It's
