Speaker 1 (00:00):
Three things you should know today. Jury selection continues today
in the trial of former Grand Rapids police officer Christopher Sure.
The pool of potential jurors is about two hundred right now,
but they do have to fill out a questionnaire to
determine familiarity with the case potential prejudice. Sure is charged
with second degree murder in the death of Patrick Leoya.

(00:22):
The trial is set to begin April twenty eight. Pope
Francis's body now has been moved from his residence at
the Vatican to lie in state at Saint Peter's Basilica.
The Basilica now open for the public to file past
the open coffin, and you can watch that live online
if you would like. Bells rang and people applauded as

(00:42):
the procession made its way through Saint Peter's Square. The Pope,
who died on Monday morning, will have his funeral on Saturday,
attended by world leaders from around the globe, including President Trump.
He said he was going to be there. After the funeral,
the conclave will begin to choose a new Pope. Exciting
news out of Detroit. They just broke ground on a

(01:04):
new immersive sports venue, one of four total in the world. Yes,
it's called Cosm. Cosm located downtown by Campus Marsh's planetarium
style dome designed to make it feel like you're in
the middle of all the action. I mean, this looks
super cool. I've seen the one in Vegas.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yeah, it's gonna feature live sports with partnerships with the UFC, NBA, NFL, NBC, Sports, Fox, ESPN,
and more. I think they've got one in New York,
one in Vegas, and then they're also building one Detroit
and Atlanta as well.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
I think the one I saw too was like a
wrap around screen, so like, yes.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
It's a planetarium. So like if it's you know, a
dome and kind of everywhere.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah, it's so cool. That's such a cool experience. And
if it's cold, or you can't make it to a game,
or you can't afford the game, or it's a super Bowl,
or it's a super Bowl where Detroit might go, but
none of us can spend ten thousand dollars to go
to the game, you could go watch here and feel
like you're right on the sidelines.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
National Championships. I yes, Rose Bowl. I mean, come on,
this is gonna be cool. That's three things you should know.
Here is one you probably shouldn't. I don't know how
this is not a thing already.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
The Oscars have announced a new rule this week that
Academy voters must watch all nominated movies before casting their votes.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Wasn't that already a rule?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Yeah? What have you been doing to this point watching
trailers and going, yeah, that looks good, it's got it's
got Pedro Pascal in it. Yeah, I like him. Well,
let's vote for that. It looks super artsy. Why wasn't
this a rule to begin with? You have to you
should have to watch it from start to finish, and
maybe more than once to vote on whether or not

(02:46):
it deserves an Oscar. We're one hundred years into the
Oscars and no one time have we thought, you know what.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Those because it's like assumed that you would do that, right, Yeah,
I think so. But yeah, these days, I feel like
you get the people where it's like they know what
they're supposed to be doing, but they don't do it,
and then they go, well, there's nothing that says I
can't do that, and that's annoying.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Don't be back, guy, do be that. But like the
whole point of what you're doing the literal whole point
is to vote on a movie that you think deserves
an Oscar. So maybe watch the movie.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Watch the movie, and as for the Grammys, you should
probably listen to the songs.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yes, yeah, I remember doing book reports though, I do remember.
I do remember this doing book reports at school and
reading just the back of the book and then giving
an entire report on set book. And it was literally
just the synopsis in the back of the book. And look, God,
I got this. Be ninety three Sports Tigers played San
Diego yesterday and they want or lost, excuse me, two

(03:54):
to zero. They play the Padres again today at twelve
forty five, which you can hear on our sister station
ninety six to one. The game
