Speaker 1 (00:00):
Greg Way, the producer Cameron Parker alongside as well. We'll
take you up until five o'clock and again Long Worn
Weekly with Coach Sark returns. You'll hear the program tomorrow
evening at seven o'clock, but we record it on Wednesdays,
so your opportunity to visit with Coach Sark. If you
want to come out for the show, get out there
(00:21):
to Pluckers. I would say I wouldn't get there any
later than five point thirty because normally we start recording
the show at six and the place gets pretty loaded up.
It's a wonderful location there at twenty two twenty two
reoh Grand the West Campus location, but it's not the
largest location of Pluckers, so it fills up. Students get
(00:41):
over there and there's a lot they're really excited. Let
me also say this, there's a lot of students coming
over there who are not about to let a radio
show get in the way of having a good time. Nope,
they're going over there because they're going over there now too.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Yes, Wednesday night's Trivia and I now here's something else.
Texas Fight rallies tonight, So it could be a lot
of students headed over to the Tower for the Texas
Fight Rally. Our special guest tonight is Jamal Charles.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Nice long, we'ren't a whole of honor.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Honoree and a guy who had not only an outstanding
career in Texas but also in the NFL as well.
So Jamal Charles will join us during the program tonight
as well. So we'll get to that Major League Baseball
updating the Division Series action for you right now. The
one game that's going on, there's another game getting ready
to start. But the game that's going on right now
(01:36):
is in the bottom of the six inning in Detroit,
where the Tigers lead the Cleveland Guardians three nothing. If
the Tigers win that game, they go up two games
to one. Yankees and Royals will start a couple hours
from now in Kansas City with that series tied at
a game apiece. The National League Division Series have already
have three games in the belt and in these best
(01:58):
of five series, the Mets and Andres have the chance
to lock it up tonight and advance to the National
League Championship Series. The Mets lead the Phillies two games
to one game four this evening and in fact this
afternoon It's just now about to get underway in Queens
at City Field with the Mets leading two games to one,
(02:20):
and then tonight in San Diego. Like the Mets, the
Padres have a chance to close it out on their
own home field. San Diego beat the Dodgers last night
six to five. They scored six runs in the second
inning off Walker Bueller and made it stand up and
they won held off for a six to five lead
despite a grand slam home run from tay Oscar Hernandez.
But they're one game away from wrapping that up, and
(02:42):
that's at eight o'clock tonight out in San Diego. So
that's where your Major League Baseball playoffs stand at the moment.
NFL action will resume tomorrow night with the Thursday night game.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Have any interest in forty nine or Seahawks? I think so.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
It's a big game for San Francisco, Craig. You had
that blown loss against Arizona. Still can't believe they did
not score a single point in that game, two and three,
and could you imagine San Francisco being two and four
after the first six weeks of the season and with
this loss, Craig, I mean, you're looking at an NFC
West team that will be looking up at the Seattle Seahawks.
(03:25):
So it's not like a loser leaves town type of game.
But as we get deeper and deeper into the season,
you're starting to get more worried about the San Francisco
team and this Kyle Shanahan offense that still is without
Christian McCaffrey for who knows how long. At this point,
Deebo Samuel was pretty ineffective. Now, Brandon, now you got
his best game of the season, but Seattle could be
(03:46):
four and two, Craig going into next week in the
top the NFC West by two games.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yeah, let me get your thoughts if you have interest
in some of these other NFL games. First of all,
Sunday morning, the London game Bears Jaguars. Of course, the
jag second home is London. As we know, they played
more games in London than any NFL team. Jags are
one and four, coming off their first win being the Colts.
(04:13):
Bears are three and two. They won three straight home games.
They've not been a road team and now they really
go on the road across Water. There is that old
Any interest for you, Jaguars Bears?
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Yeah, the Jaguars lose this game, Craig, Doug Peterson may
end up being the next coach fire because they they're
able to win last week and the snap their losing
streak zero to four, finally getting their first one. I
think Lawrence had lost what eight nine straight teams in
the row, and they beat a Colts team with, you know,
without Anthony Richardson. But this is the game, Craig, where
(04:44):
if they lose this, Peterson may be out. But for
the Bears, I think we're starting to see kill Williams now.
The wheels are in motion after a tough couple games,
which shouldn't be any surprise for a rookie with really
limited preseason action, and I was getting his footing. He
did play Carolina, but it was that's his best game
he's played so far as an NFL quarterback. So in
the Jaguars defense, by the way, one of the worst
(05:05):
passing defenses in the league.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
So London's always weird.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Who knows how that game will be played out, different turf,
all that stuff, But this could be a game where
kill Williams continues to get better and better and Jacksonville's
coming back looking for a new head coach.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Texan's got the huge win at home last week over
Buffalo on the walk off field goal by Kyamie fairbearn
they play in Foxborough against the Patriots, trap game.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Could be now Drake May making his first NFL start,
and then for the Patriots, you have or for the text,
excuse me. Nico Collins on the IR who was maybe
the league's best receiver, number two behind Justin Jefferson. Now
he's out for at least four weeks. So Wills Diggs
and Tank Dell they step up. And how about Exavier Hutchinson,
the Iowa State receiver. He's gonna be picked up in
(05:53):
some fantasy leagues. But always a trap game. But I
think this Patriots team, we'll see how they look with
Drake May remains to be seen, but.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
I think Texans should be okay. I mean, it's coming
off a couple of big wins the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
To me, to me, one of the more intriguing matchups
in the noon window, the early window Washington Baltimore Commanders
at Ravens at M and T.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Banks Stadium.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
I believe it's called this is a game where I
don't understand why it's being played at It's played at noon, right, yeah,
one to clock eastern. Uh huh, this game should be
the night game. Instead we have Bengals Giants. Kid, they
couldn't early, they couldn't flex this early, or even the
three o'clock games. I mean, who wants to watch Falcons
Panthers at three twenty five? But this is, I think, Craig,
(06:40):
the game of the day, game of the day. You
have Washington, who their offense looks incredible. Jaydon Daniels is
so much fun to watch. In Baltimore who I don't.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Know, Craig.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
The deeper I get into the season, the more I'm
starting to believe that Baltimore may be the best team
in the AFC. Now. I know they lost to Kansas
City in Week one. That was Week one. I think
Baltimore the best team right now in football.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
I guess maybe it has to do with balance of
games between Fox and CBS, because that Falcons Panthers game
is a Fox telecast. The Ravens and Commanders or CBS.
You know, there's just.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
A game, screams Chris Myers, going.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Yeah that you know, and I don't know about you.
This started happening. I think two years ago, maybe three,
forever and ever and ever and ever and ever in
the modern age, since the merger, let's put it that way,
since the merger, even really going back to the NFL
and AFL, CBS had all the NFL games, or after
(07:40):
the merger of NFC, NBC had all of the AFC games,
and that's how it was, and East was we East,
and West was West, and never the Twain did meet
that Monday Night Football and then Thursday. I guess it's
because of the proliferation of the streaming games and ESPN
(08:02):
and Sunday Night Football that they can't keep it to
its true form. Last week, last week he had you
had two games, one that you swear would be uh
a CBS game and it was on Fox. I think,
uh wasn't that? The No, wasn't the Falcons what I mean, Yeah,
I think it might have been a fact.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
It wasn't. It wasn't the Texans game. Put it that way,
and you had that.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
And then you had the Rams and the Packers who
were on CBS, and so I've given up trying to
keep out. I think they're just trying to balance total
number of appearances on each network that that sort of thing.
So maybe that's the reasoning here. I don't know Brown's
Eagles in the early window.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Is it time that it's past time? But well, the
Browns finally bench Deshaun Watson. Can we finally get Genis
Winston at quarterback?
Speaker 1 (08:54):
This?
Speaker 3 (08:54):
This could be a disgusting game because the Eagles are
not fun to watch.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
The Browns are not fun to watch. This will get
zero attention.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Maybe the most other than other than Washington and Baltimore,
the most to me intriguing game in the early window
is Cardinals Packers in Green Bay. Here's the Cardinals of
two and three coming off the comfort behind win over
San Francisco. The Packers survived a game against the Rams
(09:21):
where they quite easily could have lost, but the Rams
just couldn't get out of their own way. So you
got a three and two Packers and a two and
three Cardinals on that. Bucks and Saints two teams smarting.
The Saints had started two and oh. Last time they
won was when they drubbed the Cowboys. Now they dropped
three in a row, and the Bucks are three and
two coming off the loss last week. So we got
(09:43):
three and two and a two and three there and
Baker got he got banged up. Now you know, say
what you want about Baker Mayfield. He is a pretty
tough kid.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
I hope try and find a way to play this game,
but his health will be interesting to watch. And for
New Orleans, is it going to be Spencer Rattler because
he did not come men for Derek Carr? It was
I think it's Travis Hayner. I don't even his first name,
but he also played at President State where coincidentally that's
where Derek Carr played. But when they don't have Taysom Hill,
(10:11):
no Taysom Hill, and possibly will it be Rattler?
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Will it be Hayner? Who knows?
Speaker 3 (10:16):
But New Orleans who after they scored nine thousand points
against Dallas, has lost with three straight games in a
row and are staring at two or four straight in
the face.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Okay, and then the one other game in the early
window Colts Titans. Yeah, that kind of has some smell
to it. Who's who's the quarterback for the Titans?
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Now? I couldn't even tell you because they benched Will
Levis correct, they did, but then I thought they went.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Back to Yeah, okay, uh, it was Mason Rudolph who
came in. Maybe it is Will Levis, Okay, Will loves
first Joe Flakil.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
That's a quarterback matchup for you. Okay, in the late window.
Like you said, Falcons Falcons Panthers holds no water for
you there.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Steelers Raiders.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Raiders are two and three, they're at home against Pittsburgh.
That's in the Chargers Broncos. Now that holds some interest.
I think Chargers two and two Broncos. The surprise of
the AFC at three and two, that's in the later window.
And then unless we forget Lions Cowboys easily the most
(11:27):
attractive of the three twenty five games.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
It's three o'clock game. That's the three twenty five PM game.
That's a great time to take a nap.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
Then see now, Cam, here's how you do. You stay
over Saturday night after the game after Texas OU and
then you just shuttle it over them.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
We're coming back Saturday. Yeah? Are you coming back after
the game Saturday night? Yeah, we're coming back Saturday.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
That's slave driver Terry Fowx. He's just he's just loading
you up, making you roll it on back.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
I would love to spend the night at the Cotton
Bowl but we'll be coming back Saturday, so Sunday will
be a.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Very It will be a rest day for me. Okay,
load of management. Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
All right, So there's a look around the National Football
League coming up next. We'll hear more from Longhorn's head coach,
Steve Sarkesian when we continue here on Sports Radio AM
thirteen under the zone of the iHeartRadio app.
