Speaker 1 (00:10):
This is the Hub on Hollywood and iHeartRadio podcast. I'm
your co host, James Rojas.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
I'm the other co host, Jamie Blanco.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
On this week's episode, a non spoiler review of a
new Jenna Ortega Paul Rudd movie called Death of a Unicorn.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
I was very surprised by this one. It's gonna be
a lot of fun to talk about.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Absolutely, and this is the name alone is so enticing
and intriguing. New trailers are out for Happy Gilmour two
and Lee Lo and Stitch. I have very strong opinions
about this. I think one looks fantastic and another one
does not look so great.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, we'll fight, we'll fight about it.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
We'll go into it. Sidney Sweeney going into a new
movie with a Massachusetts connection. We're also going to be
going back to the Land of the Dead in another
Disney sequel. That and much more. But Jamie, let me
first ask you really quick. You watch the Oscars. Did
you watch a bit of the Oscars?

Speaker 2 (01:02):
I did, yes, monologue, Oh, I watched the Oscars. It
was it was great.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Yeah, Well, speaking about great, Conan O'Brien did a fantastically
great job. I was not surprised at all. I I
I loved every second of it. Yeah, an eighteen minute
monologue after this awesome open when I guess he was
like that, you haven't seen the Demi mour movie The Substance.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
No, I don't remember that one. Up.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
He had to me more Margaret quality, and so Conan
recreated that scene of him crawling out of Demi Moore's back. Yeah,
and just like that was a great opener for Conan.
And yeah, he did so great at the Oscars that
they've already announced that he will be returning next year
as next year's host. That's good. Brooklyn, Brookline native near Massachusetts.

(01:52):
Boy cannot be happy for him.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
I know that you and I have always been team Coco.
Oh yeah, team Coco all the way. He's not on
television anymore, right, but he gets a pot to boss.
Everybody has a podcast.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
We have a great podcast.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yes, it's really really great. I saw an interview he
did with Harrison Ford the other day. It was just right.
I was just on the floor laughing. It was hilarious,
and you know, Harrison making fun of him, like why
aren't you on I can't imagine why you're not on
TV anymore? But I miss him. I miss his brand
of humor, which maybe is not like mainstream, but he

(02:28):
definitely knocked it out of the park at the Oscars.
My favorite was when he beat the dead Horse that
is the whole.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
But the Rappers, the rapper, Yeah, Kendrick Lamar h Keren.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Drake and Drake and taking that shot at.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Drake like this is the part through, which means it's
about time for Kendrick to call it. Drake a pedophile, right.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
And he's like, I'm lawyered up. Guys, Like, oh my gosh. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Again, he did so well, and I was not surprised
because you know, watching him go out there on stage,
he just felt so natural, of course, like he's in
his element on the stage in front of you know,
in front of America, and so that was great to
see him. If you want to, if you want to
watch his latest podcast episode, maybe an episode or two ago.
But he actually brought on the writers that he's worked

(03:18):
with for decades on the Late night show, and a
lot of them helped him, you know, prepare for for
the Oscars, and so they on the podcast talked about
you know, the process like pretty much like two or
three months before the show, the Oscars aired. You know,
he was given the call, asked if he wanted to
do it, and at first, you know, he was like,

(03:38):
oh yeah, great, and he starts talking to a writer,
like he first calls a writer and then as he says,
oh yeah, they want me to host the Oscars, the
guy just starts busting up laughing like, oh my god,
this is this is insane. But they were to make
it in like two months time, work with his writers,
create a beautiful, beautifully hilarious monologue and you know, sprinkled

(03:59):
in jokes throughout the night. But so happy to see
and hear that Conan's getting the recognition he deserves. That's
right again, he got the Mark Twain Award recently, and
so you know, very happy for him, very.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Happy about for him. And also he's someone who's always
taking care of his own people, you know, through strikes,
through thick and thin, through him you know, getting hired
and fired. So just good boy, local boy, Team Coco
all the way.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Team Coco all the way. Let's talk about this new
show that's coming all the way over here to Massachusetts.
It's called Widow's Bay, which is going to be not
only filming here in the Commonwealth, but also in Maine.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Yeah, which is really exciting because we don't hear a
lot of movies getting shot up there. But in general,
it has been a rough out there. It has been slow.
In Hollywood East, there haven't been as many projects, So
it's always exciting to see something new coming. Lots of creatives, actors, producers,

(05:04):
PA's you know, everyone that works on a movie. The hundreds,
if not thousands of people. You know, we're waiting, we're waiting,
We're ready to go. So this is going to be
called Widow's Bay. Matthew Reese. Is that how you say
Reese is coming? Uh, he's going to be starring in

(05:25):
this film. And right, it's a in the series, that's right,
that's right. It's not a movie, which is great too
because that means more episodes, more filming, more acts, money,
more jobs, more money.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Takes place on a secluded New England island, shrouded in mystery,
plagued by ominous curses which deeply superstitious residents believe.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, I feel like, you know, we had that vibe
when you know, obviously the Salem King, the state and
king kind of like creepiness New England I don't know
what period this takes place in, but you know, we
can do any period piece over here. We can do
the sixteen hundreds absolutely creepy, mysterious, superstitious period to now.
So this is a good place to come and film,

(06:09):
whether it's a movie or TV show. So keep your
eye out. If you are in the Massachusetts area and
Main area and they are filming near you Widow's Bay,
take some pictures, you know, Tweet us in a blue
sky US, Instagram US, and and share that stuff with us.
We'll give you guys a shout out. Speaking about shouting out,
let's give a shout out to Sidney Sweeney because she

(06:32):
is a powerhouse. As we know that she kind of
pulled her weight when she took the role in Madam Webb.
In order to do that, she agreed with Sony that
they would help fund a project that she wanted to make,
and that was anyone but you with mister mister Maverick.
What's his name? I know his name some of the

(06:56):
what's some name with the p no.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Very very handsome man. Mister Twisters.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Mister Twister's a blanket on his name, but yeah, what
is it? We're using the power of Google right.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Now, because hey, we're both parents.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Yeah, anyway, tired Glenn Powell, Powell Powell, I just say
pe yeah, yeah, start with a P.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
That's good enough. That's all I need. I referred him
as We refer to him as Powell. Anyway. Sidney Sweeney,
she's gonna be making a new movie. And this film, however,
is uh has a connection to Massachusetts. It's going to
be based off a short story written by an English
school teacher in Massachusetts. This can be made into a
movie that Sweeney will star in and produce as well.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
The story, I guess, was posted on a Reddit years ago,
and I guess this writer has written different short stories
online and they've gotten popular. But one of his more
popular ones is one about a young woman who shows
up at a family's doorsteps ten years after their eighteen
year old daughter when missing. Her plan is to convince
the family that she is there missing child and stay

(08:00):
for one night, long enough to steal precious, precious jewelry
in that family. That sounds like a real life. I
would not be like surprised that this was like a
murder mystery is like show or like like a like
based on real events.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Yeah, I feel like I've heard the story the story
before too, But yes, it's it's definitely creepy. I would
say compelling. You know, you could tell that really really well.
I haven't read the short story, but that's exciting as
a fan fiction writer, you know, you put out something
that that you created online and then like just some

(08:37):
random big time actress finds it, likes it, wants to
make it into a movie. That's that's pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
So I'm curious because I I don't know the story.
I've never read it, so I don't know the tone
of it. I don't This could easily be a horror story.
It could also be a comedy, so it would be
interesting to see how uh Sidney Sweeney takes it, because
I can see her doing both. They are either completely
you know, just off the wall chaotic, creepy.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
She tends to lean towards drama though, and like the
really dramatic and you know.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Yeah, she's done a fair boat, she's done a fair amount. Yeah,
we'll bet on it. I say she'll do funny and silly.
I think drama, drama, okay, and no time at all
will find out who's rights and who's wrong.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
But me, what do you think? What do you guys think?
Thank you for tuning into the Hop on Hollywood. Make

filming in New England, Amazing interviews like the one you

(09:43):
did last week.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Yeah, sha Jahan Khan. He is a local Massachusetts boy
and a man really but yeah, but he's been, you know,
making waves so much so recently, especially just appearing in
Deli Boys, which is streaming on Hulu certified Fresh. So
the last episode of the Hub on Hollywood. Check out
that interview. It's a one on one interview. Great guy

(10:05):
to talk to. He was also in Aftermath, one of
Netflix's most popular films I believe, last month, and takes
place on the Tobin Bridge.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
It was filmed here, so yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
So they did a lot of filming like on on
closed sets, but they did a lot of exterior shots
of the Tobin Bridge here, which if you are from
or not from the area, it's a very old bridge,
very rusty and wickedly torn up bridge. And so he
said that they made it look so realistic and so
good and a fun movie. So check out that interview.

(10:55):
you the latest news. Speak about the latest news. We
have some trailers that came out, one that I was
looking forward to more much more than another. And those
two movies are Lelo and Stitch the live action version
and Happy Gilmore Too, also a live action version.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Yeah, you see, you've seen.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
I could be wrong, but you seem to be more
excited for Happy Gilmore Too.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
I don't know. I just like at him saying that.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Before we have recorded, Jamie was so like adamant about like,
this is gonna be the next Edizen team.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
I said, it's not gonna be the best, but it's
not gonna.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Be the worst.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
I think it looked funny. I thought it brought like
some of the original energy.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
I brought all the original jokes. I brought all the
original jokes cast.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
And stuff like that. Adam Sandler, I mean, he's pretty
much the same character in every movie that you know
now he makes. I thought it felt like it had
some heart though, And it was filmed in New England, right,
a lot of it was shut and rode One Island
in Connecticut, Like yeah, so I'm happy about that, yes,

(12:06):
because he is really really great. Whenever Adam Sandler makes
a movie in New England, and he makes many of them, guys,
he has hundreds of background hundreds and sounds. He puts
money in people's pockets, and he makes sure that people
get overtime. So okay, maybe the movie is not the
best movie that was ever made, but you don't but

(12:28):
you know what, I what even is Citizen Kane. But
I don't think it's gonna be as bad as you
think it's gonna be. But maybe maybe you'll hate it,
maybe you'll hate it. I just won't, you know, I
won't hate it hate it.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Yeah. It's like, you know, it's like that step cousin
who sometimes comes with family functions that you don't hate them,
hate them, but you just don't want to be around
them kind of a vibe that's like this movie I'm
I'm picking up, But I am much more vibing with
the live action adaptation of Lilo and Stitch. I'm sure
I've told you that. My daughter, she's she's almost two,

(13:06):
but we just started introducing movies to her, and by movies,
I mean one movie, and that's Lelo and Stitch, the
animated original from two thousand and two. And she loves, loves,
loves that movie and she loves the music. The you know,
my wife and I love Hawaii and so and Elvis
and so it kind of like every it checks all
the boxes. And our daughter is a big fan of

(13:27):
it as well. And so when I first heard that,
you know, they're gonna make a live adaptation like most movies,
I was like, I don't think it's a good idea.
But then, you know, you saw some concept dart, you
saw like a still image, you know, months ago, and
I'm like, Okay, this doesn't look bad and I'm actually
looking forward to this. And then the trailer drops, which
we have on are on the hub on Hollywood page.

(13:48):
So check out the trailer for Lelo and Stitch. The
first one. The first trailer it looks good. I mean,
it looks really good, and so I'm really excited for this.
I think the casting for Lilo, I don't know the
actress is name, but she's so cute, very cute. Nanny
looks really good, David looks really good. I know they're
doing something controversial. We'll get into the controversy right now.

(14:10):
So if you remember, if you remember Leelo and Stitch,
the animated version, there's Jumba, Impleqely. There's Jumba who created Leela, sorry,
who created Stitch, the evil genius scientist, the mad scientist
and agent Pleakly who is accompanying Jumba to capture Stitch.
He's the green and one eyed alien. Well it's to
blend in in Hawaii. Because they can't be seen, they

(14:32):
go incognito. So Jumba, he's wearing like a hat, the glasses, sunglasses,
and the Hawaiian shirt. Plately, he goes with the with
a with a wig, black hair wig, you know, a
woman's hair, a woman's hat and address, and that's like
their disguise and uh and you know people love those
characters and and you know everything they represent. But in

(14:55):
this live action one, they're going with something different instead
of you know, dress up in disguise, they are using
technology to look like humans. So you have zach Afanakis
who's playing Jumbo and at the top of my head,
camera call the actor's name, but he's playing completely and
for a split second in the trailer you see them
in their human form and them pletely, you know, appear

(15:15):
in his alien form. So people are upset, saying, we
want to see them dressed up in cross drag, most drag,
dressed in drag, a dressed as a woman, and and
so people were upset about that. However, again I don't
think it's the biggest realist controversy, but people were saying
in a cartoon, yeah, you can dress up aliens with
a hat and sunglasses and you know, play them off

(15:37):
as and people don't recognize that they're aliens. They think
they're humans. In a live action it's much harder for
like the in world characters to suspend their disbelief to think, like, Okay,
this this six foot or five foot tall green, one
eyed creature is a woman, and this other, this other
four eyed creature is a man. So I think the don't.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
We don't judge, we.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Don't judge, but in the world of the Leelan Stitch,
in this context, I understand the reasoning. I would like, though,
to see a scene of them trying to dress up
like without in like the dress and the wig and
the sunglasses, and then just realizing, Okay, this isn't going
to work. Let's use technology, and so I think I
think I think they may. Yeah, I think they may

(16:22):
use that that thing, but I think this looks really good,
just like how to Train Your Dragon. That trailer looks
really good too.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
So I think these are like the only live adaptations
I'm actually looking forward to.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Do you think that studios now know how to do
a live action adaptation? Do you think that they've learned
from the mistakes of their past? No, No, not yet,
not at all.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
I hope these are the exception, but I still do
not have faith in most studios.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
I think that maybe they might now be beginning to
learn that you don't need to change anything, huh, or
or you know, only a little bit, like people love
the original for a reason, like you don't have to
reinvent the wheel with the live action. We'll see, we'll see.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
I have high hopes for this one. So okay, Leland
Stitch again. That trailer is on the Hub on Hollywood
YouTube page. Check it out. Happy Gilmore too, that trailer
is out as well. Go find it, and it's on
our Facebook page. It's on our Facebook page. Let's know
how much how bad you think? It looks calming down below,
but we know what looks good and we're both looking
forward to and what we didn't think we would ever see.

(17:34):
But it may be a possibility. Is Coyote Versus Acme?

Speaker 2 (17:39):
The roller coaster of emotion that they are putting exactly?
It's like an episode of the of the of the cartoon. Yeah,
we're running after the road Runner and then we fall
off a cliff and now we're climbing up the cliff.
Are they going to push us off again? So what's
going on here?

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Right now? They're lifting us up. They're giving us hope
because the Variety is reporting that a new studio is
negotiating a deal with Warner Brothers to obtain the rights
for Coyote Versus Acme, And if that were to happen
through like a fifty million dollar deal, then this could
be making its way into theaters in twenty twenty six.
Next year for those who are not caught up. Basically,

(18:18):
Warner Brothers decided to despite Rave pre screening reviews of
this film again this hybrid kind of like Space Jam
with Michael Jordan and a live action half animated despite
the internal Rave reviews that this movie was getting, Warner Brothers,
in order to save money, like for tax purposes, decided

(18:40):
to shelve Off and so and people were very upset.
Will Forte of SNL and mcgruber and a bunch of
other stuff he was starring in it and publicly spoke
out against how sad he was to learn that Warner
Brothers was going to should be shoving this idea, this project.
And then so a bunch of other actors, you know,

(19:01):
they expressed their disappointment, or John Cena the Rock. People
were disappointed. People were crying and so and so people
were like thinking, just like Batgirl, same thing, the same
thing that happened with Backgirl, which was going to star
Brendan Fraser and introduced back Girl into the DC universe.
That movie got shelved. No one will ever see that

(19:21):
movie despite initial good internal reviews and feedback. However, it
looks like there's hope for Coyote and Coyote versus ACME
to come out, which is basically the story of Coyote
suing ACME for all the pain and products that they make,
whether that's rockets that blow up or or rockets skates
that Yeah, this is basically he's suing ACME because every

(19:45):
every every you know, trapped and contraption he bought to
capture the road runner blows up almost literally in his face.
So he's suing the company that makes those those products
for for damages physical and monetary. And so's it's a
great plot, very great story, and again the actors really

(20:05):
loved it, and we're really supportive of it. So fingers crossed.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Okay, so there's a deal of around fifty million dollars.
Maybe I was under the impression that they destroyed it,
like they destroyed the footage, like not just showing.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
It's like it's like in Indiana Jones, like the Ark
of the Covenant, they and the big you have boxes
of pressure. It was going to fall into that. Okay,
that abyss all right, But we have a chance, we
have hope that we will not be hitting a painted
street that leads into a cliff side.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Maybe we can throw a few million in on the deal.
Sweeten the pot. You've got that, I'll take that, okay,
all right?

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Uh Jamie, this is an interesting story that we saw.
Have you seen the first season of the Last of Us? Yes,
starring of course our boy, Pedro Pascal. Before we get
onto this really quick, did you see his? I guess
Spike Jones made a music video starring Pedro Pascal. Uh,

(21:06):
there there was a It was an ad, a five
minute ad for for Apple the AirPods. But like it's
the five minutes of Pedro, like dancing and singing and
like having engroove in.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
Yeah. I saw bits and pieces of it.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
He looked so good, looks so good. So yeah, so
he looks so good. And The Last of Us is
a great great show, video game turned series on Max.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
Season two coming out.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
Season two, coming out Around the Corner. Bella Ramsey. She
plays Ellie in the show, and she's fantastic in it
as well. But she recently was interviewed and she came
out by saying that she was actually diagnosed with autism
during the first season of that show, and and it
was pretty interesting how it came about. There's a there's

(21:49):
a crew member who has an autistic daughter, and I
guess just kind of hanging out with Bella on on
the set during that period. During that shoot, she assumed
that Ella was also on the spectrum, and I guess
you brought that up and Bella was like, oh, I
don't know. She ends up going to a doctor and
gets diagnosed, and yeah, I guess she's on the spectrum.

(22:10):
And now she's publicly speaking out about it.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
Yeah, I think that's fantastic to raise awareness. And it's
always I like how it's neurodivergent people can identify other
neurodivergent people those we see the signs, but it is
a cathartic and I think that she talks about that
a little bit as well as now that I know

(22:35):
this about myself, I can be kinder to myself. I
know how to help myself better, you know, instead of
kind of struggling through the social isolation, the sensory issues,
all of these things that other people don't have around
you and you don't know why. So I think it's

(22:56):
just a wonderful message that she's speaking out about it,
because just knowing is half a battle is wonderful and
it helps and it helps other people who might be
questioning themselves even if you're the only person in your
family who gets diagnosed, Like, do that for yourself, Yeah,

(23:17):
take care of yourself.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
Yeah, I know, I know a lot of people are
saying that, Like, you know, they're they're seeing like reports
of a spike and people being diagnosed with with autism
or being on the spectrum, and you know, people theorizing, oh,
like is there something in the water, the vaccines and all.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
These just know, most.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
This awareness is going up, is what I believe is
awareness is going up, and people are not being so
stigmatized for not only wanting to you know, to see
if they are on the spectrum, but also to be
open and talk about it. And the cool thing about
Bella's case is that she says it's actually helped her

(23:55):
acting because she said, you know, growing up, she felt
like an outsider. She a sensory issues common with many
people on the spectrum, and that you know, sometimes she
would be very hyper aware of people's mannerisms and and
you know, things about them, and through that she was

(24:15):
better able to like watch people understand people, and that
helped her in turn become a better actor, you know,
like copying copying and asking masking, and so I think
it's really good that she's talking about it. Yeah. Again,
I think it's just you know, helping break the stigma exactly.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Yeah, And we love her. She's a fantastic actress. And
we can't wait to see season two. Actually, I can
wait to see season two. I'm so nervous about what
will be in season two. I just I don't know.
We'll see, we'll see. But it's such a great show.
We love Pedro, we love.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Bella, we love them. Speaking about season two, I'm really
hoping for a season two for Deli Boys again.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
Deli Boys.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
Yeah, we're talking about again to our past two episodes.
Two episodes ago, we showed yourself, Jamie going to the
watch party for Deli Boys here in Cambridge or Somerville.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
No, no, it was. It isn't a South.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
Boston south south year no, no Western, no, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
You know where where's the freakin' obelisk?

Speaker 1 (25:29):
Oh yeah, that that's a.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Charlestown, Yeah, in that area in the around there.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
Okay, Charlestown. Yeah, there was a watch party for Deli
Boys and uh and we were invited by one of
the actors. Again as we mentioned, sha Jahan Khan, he
plays Ali on Deli Boys and there they they showed
the first four episodes during the watch party, which is packed. Yeah,
the video and and and and sha John talked about
how you know so many people turned out turned out

(25:55):
for it and Uh. The following episode, our last episode,
we have this interview with him talking about not only
about his career but about Deli Boys. And you know,
at that point I had seen three episodes. After that interview,
I binged the rest. There are ten episodes in the season.
In the first season, and it's really good. It's a

(26:15):
it's a it's a he calls it a crime aty
where it's a comedy comedy crime show basically about you know,
two pamper Pakistani American brothers. Uh. They lose everything when
their father, who runs this this deli market industry, he
suddenly dies and then they're forced to reckon with Baba's

(26:38):
secret life of crime. And it's pretty much, you know,
them kind of like being fish out of water, them
being thrown into the deep end, you know, being exposed
to what they had no idea about this crime syndicate
that his father was was operating in Empire and and
it's so the I was telling Asajahan that the writing
is so good, it's so tight. The chemistry between the

(27:03):
main two actors a sif A Le and Segar Shakur Shakira.
Hopefully I'm pronouncing that correctly, but the chemistry between those
two actors, the brothers, is so hilarious. Like I could
just watch them just like going about their day together
and they're so d sho.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Could have been about anything, but like the two of
them were together.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
Yeah. Yeah, it's great to watch, and so I'm really
hoping for for season two. We're not going to go
into any spoilers, but I do want to mention that
it is streaming on Hulu at the moment. It is
certified fresh. It is so good, So check out that show.
Support it because I'm really pushing for and pulling for
season two of that.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
It's been a long time since i've like genuinely like
bark laughed yeah on a show.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
I was telling Shadjahanad like, like I watch a lot
of stuff and like it feels like kind of like
thirty Rock where every thirty seconds thirty seconds to a minute,
like I'm laughing out loud and my wife. You know,
We're on the couch and I was watching some episodes
on my laptop and she was doing her own work,
and I have my headphones in and she just hears
me like laughing, and I'm like, oh my, I can't
stop laughing out loud. I'm sorry you're working, but like,

(28:08):
but you just can't help it because it's such a funny,
fun show with some good twists and turns.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Go watch Deli Boys. Okay, So Deli Boys is a
crimity crimedy and you watched something that appears to be
a horredy or something that doesn't sound right horror comedy
or something.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
It's a fantasy horror comedy.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Okay, but yeah, this is wild.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
This is wild of a unicor. The Leopolds donated this
entire nature preserve, and they care about a lot of things,
not just pharmaceutical.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Fine, I will sit there and smile.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
I'm sorry. What happened you watch from the airport? Or what?
It's perfect timing? I like, everything is fine.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
Is there something in your car?

Speaker 1 (28:59):
I don't want to speak. She's in this area?

Speaker 2 (29:01):
Are rare?

Speaker 1 (29:03):
What exactly are we saying?

Speaker 2 (29:04):
This is? Though? I think we know exactly what it.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
Is a horse like mammalia with some sort of protrusion growth.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
It's a fucking unicorn.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
I don't think I should be in swim shorts for
this moment. Just that title alone, just that name of
that movie alone. It sparks intrigue, right right, You think, well,
what else do you need to intrigue you? Then the
death of a unicorn? But guess what else is it there?
You have Jenna Ortega, you have Paul Runn, you have
Will Poulter and Richard E. Grant Tileoni. It's a great,

(29:42):
great cast. We just watched the trailer of this and
you were like, when we watched the trailer, you're like, oh,
it's an actual unicorn. Yeah, yeah, in this world is
actual unicorn. And so I watched a screening for it
not too long ago. The movie's coming out on the
Friday the twenty eighth, So check out. This is my
non spoiler review. Basically, I really enjoyed this movie. Before

(30:05):
I continue, I need a prop Oh God, hold on
for those that you can describe for a listeners, what
was going on?

Speaker 2 (30:11):
So James is reaching down, He's grabbing something protruding, like,
this is not going well. That is gold and something
and he's putting out on his forehead and now he
has a unicorn horn.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
I have a unicorn horn on my head. If you
can for the watch, buy that. I did not buy this.
Buy this the lovely pr folks who put this screener
together at assembly row in Somerville. Okay, they are passing
these out, and they're also passing out bumper stickers, and
I'm like, I don't want to be silly and have
a bumper sticker on my car, so I got a
horn instead that could wear during this this.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Review sure not silly at all.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
This is actually what the horn kind of looks like.
That there are different unicorns in this movie, but and
the horns are kind of different. But this is like
the unicorn of the of the of the one that
Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd hit with their car and
kind of like just start this series of events. But basically,
for those who are unfamiliar or have not seen the trailer,
I recommend not watching the trailer because there are some

(31:08):
things that are kind of like given away in that
in that trailers. Just go watch to this movie, I
recommend it. But basically it's a story about a father
and daughter, Elliott and Ridley. They hit a unicorn with
their car and bring it to the wilderness retreat of
a mega wealthy pharmaceutical CEO and his family. This is
directed and written by Alex Scharffman. As I mentioned, the

(31:30):
stars Jenna Ortega, Paul Rudd, Will Polter, Richard d Grant Teleoni,
as well as this one great actor. He is on Barry.
Have you seen Barry which very was Barry. You've seen
Barry with Bill Hayter the show.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
So there's an actor and I'm pulling in his name,
Anthony Carrigan. Anthony Carrigan. This one know's rare. Anthony Carrion.
He's on Barry, a fantastic actor and he was a
surprise that appeared in this. But basically, with the runtime
of one hour or forty four minutes, this rated our
fantasy horror comedy is a fun ride from beginning to end.
The action comedy in very graphic, gory scenes. They work

(32:12):
so well for what kind of movie this is. I
thought it was really balanced throughout the whole film. So basically,
as I mentioned in the synopsis, Paul Rudd and his daughter,
it starts out with them landing, you know, on a plane,
and you can tell they have like this kind of
strained relationship and you know, they're both kind of recuperating

(32:34):
after some recent trauma. Paul Rudd, he's a lawyer and
works for this wealthy CEO pharmaceutical guy who was on
and like he was nearing his deathbed. And this guy
wants Paul Rudd to pretty much you know, you know,
dot the i's crossed, the t's on paperwork to make
sure his family and his company will be set after
he's gone. And he's in trusting Paul's Rudd because you know,

(32:58):
he really likes him. He thinks he's a family man,
and and he just wants to spend some more time
with him during the weekend, during this wilderness retreat, just
so he can confirm to his family, to the CEO
and his wife and his son, they know, you know,
you can trust this man. He's a good man. And
like here's his daughter. He loves his daughter. And so
Paul and Jenna have to kind of not hide this

(33:19):
kind of like this kind of turmoil they're going through,
this kind of friction they're going through between themselves. But
but you know, things escalate when they hit a unicorn,
have to hide it. They find out, you know that
they bring the unicorn because they don't want to. I'm
not giving away spoilers. This is in the trailer, but
basically they find out that, oh, this unicorn, it has

(33:42):
magical properties properties, whether it's its blood or it's horn.
And and the pharmaceutical family they want to, like any
mego rich family, they want to exploit it. They want
to exploit it for their own benefit. And so and
then that's when things ensue because you know, the the
parents of the Papa parents and mama parents of this unicorn,

(34:05):
they want revenge. Of course they do, of course they do.
This is a really fun movie.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
It looked fun. I can't believe a movie like this
got made, just because it's so different and weird and hilarious.
I don't know what the writers were on when they
I guess maybe they found something, guys, but it looks amazing,
And so you watched it.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
I watched it, and like the only thing that and
this is not a knock to knock for it because
you know, unicorns are not real, and so when you
see a unicorn on screen, yeah, you cannot the you
kind of get past the uncanny valley ness of seeing
unicorns around, but but you really, I really got past
that really easily, and so other than like some some

(34:53):
not and I don't want to say sloppy at all,
but that's the first thing that popped in my head
of like CGI, just moments of like kind of like
wonky CGI. Just that's the only thing I could say
that I didn't enjoy, because overall these things look really good.
They behave really good like natural and unnatural, and so
it all looks good again except for some minor moments

(35:13):
of like, oh this is a little wonky, but put
that behind you. The movie is really fun. It's a
good and it's gory too, Oh my god, very gory
if you're into that.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Okay, Sharknado vibes.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
I'm never I was never a fan of Shark Nato.
But y'all say just as much blood cocaine bear. Yeah,
I say cocaine bear. Yeah, yeah, I say gore on
the level if not a little a little bit more
of cocaine Bear.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
I love it. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
So it's gonna be out in theaters March twenty eighth.
If you're watching this when this episode comes out this
coming Friday.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
And you're very confused. If you just tuned in right now.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
You're just tuned in on a YouTube video you did,
and you came in with me wearing a horn on
my un corn horn on my forehead. Welcome to the
ho on, Hollywood. This is is what you pay for,
which is nothing, which is.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
I'm getting through this by not looking at you.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
I want to put it on.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
I want to try and cry it on.

Speaker 1 (36:14):
I want to turn oh here, yeah there I go,
go for it. Yeah, it's uh and and so yeah,
So the folks over who are promoting the who are
at the screener, hosting the screener at the local theater,
they're passing a bunch of these horns out bumper stickers. Also,
I think you said, like I break for unicorns or whatever.
And so it's a good let's get on you all right.
That was good.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
My daughter will be so excited. I want to take it.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
My wife saw it and she's like, no more crap.
I'm like, it's it was free. I didn't pay for this.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
You want to take it, all right, except my daughter's
gonna love it, would love.

Speaker 1 (36:49):
Just don't tell her that that horn is used to
dise dismember many people.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
Okay, yeah, I'll leave that part out. I'll leave that
part out.

Speaker 1 (36:59):
But yeah, of a Unicorn. Sorry, Jenna Ortaga, Paul Rudd,
Oh yeah, I will say though. And you may have
seen if you watch the trailer. Will Poulter, who plays
the son of the pharmaceutical ceo. He is a huge
highlight of this movie. Like he I think he gets
the most laughs in this film. His character is is hilarious,
funny and uh and just really fun to watch. Also,

(37:22):
Anthony Carrigan who I mentioned who was on Barry. He
plays the butler, an assistant to the family.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
He is also hilarious in this movie. So there are
two standouts for this film.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
So all right, yeah that's great. And nothing stands out more,
nothing stands out more in a Unicorn or Okay, I
have to go see this.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
Yeah, go see it. Don't take her take your kids.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
I will not take my kids. Okay, I won't take
my kids. I promise, I promise.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
I know.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
I took them to one too many zombie movies. I promise,
I promise. But one thing that I think I will
take them.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
To Coco too.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
Yeah. Yeah, we skipped Coco.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
We totally, we totally skipped it. Speak about team Coco.
We were on team Coco, multiple teams of Coco, because
Coco too. How many times can I say Coco.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
Coco, Co Co Co Co.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
Yeah. The Disney I think is considered a classic. Now.
I love that movie, the story of Miguel and him
crossing over to the land of the dead and then
finding you know, his his his true family and the
meaning of music and love and life and familia and
all that stuff, all that jazz. A sequel is coming out. Yeah.

(38:34):
So Bob Iger, Disney CEO, he was on a shareholder
meeting recently and he said, hey, you like Coco, you
like money. Yeah, guess what, boom, this too has dollars signs.
It's a dollar scientist for this one. But he said, yeah,
we're working on it right now. It will be coming

(38:55):
out hopefully in twenty twenty nine. I believe, were are
my notes? I can't find it's Coco.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Two, Cocoa too.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
Yeah, Oh yeah, I don't blame you. I'm sorry. Yeah,
So it should be coming out and in a couple
of years, he says, And again this is such like
you know, CEO talk to like stakeholders, but he says,
this film is in the initial stages. They know it
will be full of humor, heart and adventure, like of
course it's going to be full of like humor, heart

(39:26):
and adventure, like of course you would say that. Of
course you would say that. But you love Coco, Coco,
Are you down for a Coco two?

Speaker 2 (39:35):
I don't know. I mean, I think it's such a
perfect movie it is that we don't I don't know
that we need another Coco. Like who's going to go
into the afterlife now?

Speaker 1 (39:45):
A younger sister.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
I don't know. I don't know, Like, uh, I can't
imagine what the story would be, so just like like
the toy stories, like I can't imagine what the next
stories would be and how it would have as much
heart as the you know, because I'm sure Grandma whatever
her name is, a Coco. Yeah, well a Cocoa is
you know on her way out?

Speaker 1 (40:06):
She don't know that much. She died at the end.
Died at the end of spoiler alert for this film
that came out six years ago, if not more. But yeah,
a Coco, the grandmother, a Belita, she passed away and
you know at the very end, she's reunited with her
father and her mother. So yeah, what like maybe Miguel
has to go back to the Land of the Dead
and like get a message from Coco, or like get
a message to Coco, or Coco has a very treasure.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
Maybe Miguel is from we at Home. Yeah, I don't
know that.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
That'sn't that's kind of brief. I don't know. I don't
know anyways, but I do know it will be full
of humor.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
Heart and adventure. Adventure James, Uh, would you like to
take a trip to the Afterworld?

Speaker 1 (40:49):
Well, because yeah, so the in the Coco Afterworld that
is in Disney in the movie. It looks magical, it
looks beautiful, like everything's neon. I feels like a party
a pianista. I'll be down to visit, Okay that land.

Speaker 2 (41:03):
Say, like I could I could like send you there?

Speaker 1 (41:05):
Oh god, no, no, no no, get that Horne away
from me, horn away from me. Yeah no. But let's know,
are you down for Coco two? Coco? Too Fast, too furious?

Speaker 2 (41:19):
This is how you know we've gotten to like twist's.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
The end of the episode our minds. But yeah, this
is a great episode. Let us know what your thoughts
are on Coco two, also Lelo and Stitch and and
Happy Gilmore too. Are you looking forward to it.

Speaker 2 (41:32):
Would be good. It's gonna be funny.

Speaker 1 (41:34):
Just as good as is The King. And Jamie's a
quote that's they're gonna put that on the poster.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
I just want Adam Sandler on the show.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
Yeah, I want Conan O'Brien on the show. I want
Connor O'Brien on the show. But he will be back
show hosting the Oscars next year after his fantastic performance again.
We have a new film, our new show series, The
Widow's Bay, coming out filming in May in Massachusetts and Maine.
Keep an eye out for that. Sidney Sweeney another movie,
a lot of more money, hopefully they I don't know

(42:02):
where they're filming that one. Oh they're filming over here, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (42:06):
Well possibly maybe possibly.

Speaker 1 (42:08):
I don't know where that movie takes place. But else
Keylody versus. We touched on a lot of stuff here.
Deli Boys, wats.

Speaker 2 (42:15):
Go watch Deli Boys, and I got to go finish
that series right now. So and Death of a Unicorn
