Speaker 1 (00:00):
This hour of programming on seven to ten wo r
he sponsored by Toyota City and Mamaranac and Nissan. City
of port Chester, proud members of the Integrity Automotive Group.
Now former Westchester County executive Rob Astaro on seven to ten.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
I love Christmas. Merry Christmas to you, Frankie. I love Christmas,
I really do. I just hate the crowds that come
with it here in New York City because they're everywhere.
And if you're coming into the city tonight, don't even
think about driving. I saw nothing but redtail lights, lit
up honking horns, just people everywhere crossing the streets. It's
(00:52):
to madhouse. It's exactly what you would expect on December
seventh of any year. It's a gridlock a night. Be smart.
If you can take the take the trains, whatever I mean,
if you have to take the subway, bring your gun. No,
you're not allowed to do that. Actually, so I mean
don't bring your gun. You should. There should be no
(01:12):
restrictions where you bring your lawfully registered handgun, but in
New York, where you need it the most, you're not
allowed to take it. But don't even get me going
on this. I'm Rob as Dono. This is the rob
Astino Show on seven ten WR, so good to have
you with me. I hope you had a chance to
listen last week to my interview with Mayor Adams, which
(01:36):
made a lot of news because we talked about the
Daniel Penny trial and the mayor was supportive of Penny
and was hoping that the jury did the right thing
because he was in an untenuous situation and Penny was
there to help people who needed help at that moment
from a man who was clearly mentally disturbed as they
(02:02):
call them edps, emotionally disturbed person, and he came to
the aid of his fellow citizens. He's not a vigilante,
and so the mayor was I thought, very forthright, and
that made a lot of news. It was all over
the place. I would say, if you didn't hear the show,
or you caught parts of it, you should listen. Just
(02:24):
go on to the seven ten wor app or seven
TENWR dot com here and the podcast tab for the
rob Astorino Show. Listen to that interview. I actually listened
to it the other day on the train ride home,
and I thought it was very engaging. I thought he
was he was very engaging, and I like, as I said,
(02:45):
I like the mayor. I like him personally. I think
he's trying. We could have a lot worse we did
with the Dunstablasio, who really left him a bag of crap.
And he's trying in some ways, you know, to erase
what Deblasio did, and it ain't easy, and some of
(03:07):
it is his own making atoms and some of it
is not. But I think he's trying, and I'll take
him one hundred times over. Then I'll take some of
these other lunatics in that Congo line waiting to be mayor.
But anyway, I hope you had a chance to listen
to it, and I'm going to take your calls today
one e aed one hundred and three to two one
zero seven ten, one eight hundred and three two one
(03:29):
zero seven ten. I'm going to kind of do something
different which I normally don't do. Normally, I start the
show with something that fires me up, and then i'll
take your calls on that. But today I'm kind of like,
there's so many things to talk about. I didn't feel
like I didn't feel like prioritizing. I want to get
to as many of them as possible, and then whatever's
on your mind, you can feel free to call it
(03:51):
one ed hundred three two one zero seven ten. So
let's just start with a couple of things. First of all,
this Daniel Penny trial and Jordan Neely. Of course, Jordan
Neely's family has now filed a civil lawsuit against Daniel Penny.
That's what should have been done at the very beginning.
This is a civil case. This is not a criminal case.
(04:16):
And that buffoon, that dangerous buffoon who is the district attorney,
Alvin Bragg, already has his tail between his legs. He
should stop right now because the jury just told him
this was not a case you should have brought. They
were deadlocked, and then they dropped the first charge, which
(04:37):
was really really important. Manslaughter is now gone. It's off
the table and it cannot be brought back period. It
was dismissed. So now they're looking at, you know, criminal negligence,
which he could get up to four years too if
there's a jury that finds him guilty. I don't think
they're going to. If they're deadlocked on this, their understanding
(04:58):
is this guy was not there to call It was
not premeditated he was reacting to a very bad situation,
and all of the video and all of the testimony
basically backs him up on that. The medical medical examiner
she either lied or she was pressured to do something
political because what she put in there before all the
evidence came out, basically put a homicide that was clearly incorrect,
(05:24):
and there was other emmes that disputed what she wrote.
So this whole thing is political and what they should
be doing right now, the Manhattan District Attorney in New
York County should be just saying, your honor, we're withdrawing
the case. But no, they're standing the ground and they're
doubling down, and they want this guy convicted for all
(05:48):
the wrong reasons, all the politically wrong reasons. That's why
they're doing this. So I'm glad may Or Adam spoke
out about it last Saturday when we were talking together,
and he was right. He was absolutely right. Donald Trump
is in Notre Dame right now. The cathedral it's being
it's being rededicated, if you will. In Paris, a world event,
(06:14):
there's fifty world leaders there. You know who's not there.
Donald Trump is there. He's not the President of the
United States. We have a president, allegedly a Catholic president
by the way, who was just in Africa and flying
back from Angola across Europe to head back to Washington.
(06:36):
You think maybe he could have stopped in Paris at
the world event of all events for the reopening of
a Catholic cathedral and what it means to Catholicism, but
more than that, to represent the United States. We got
the good doctor herself, Jill, who is there. But the
(06:58):
President Biden is probably a sleep other times. Yeah, it's
four to twelve, he's probably sleeping right now in Washington.
But you think he could have landed maybe in Paris
and spent a day there and talked to some of
the world leaders and represent the United States. No, the
incoming president is there, Donald Trump, and he's making the
most use of it because he's talking with the French president,
(07:22):
he's talking with Zelensky, and he's representing the United States
of America. We're only supposed to have one president at
a time, and yet this guy has already yielded and
has stepped aside, thankfully, because I'm sure he's very busy
working on more pardons for people who don't deserve it.
But Donald Trump is there, and I'm glad he is
(07:43):
in Paris tonight. Now speaking of the pardons, this look,
the fact that Joe Biden pardoned his son should come
as a surprise to nobody. If you're shocked that he
lied about that the entire time, you're then as shocked
as Kathy Hokel saying a few months ago, you know,
(08:04):
we're not gonna do congestion pricing. Yeah, okay, and then
the day after the election, boot we got congestion pricing.
Joe Biden was always going to pardon his son, pardoning
his son for the crimes he was found guilty of,
as well as the ones that he confessed to and
(08:24):
pleaded to and was just about to be sentenced for.
All right, I understand that. I think most people would say,
I don't agree with it, but you know, look, it's
his son. What's he gonna do? You expect that from him?
I would have expected him to do that, like on
January twentieth, the morning of but he was so dummy.
(08:45):
Did it so far in advance of him leaving office.
Now just beyond tarnishes everything. And I just the fact
that he again, the fact that he pardoned his son, Okay,
we can argue at the end. I'm like, fine, he's
got the constitutional right to do that. What I don't
agree with is pardoning his son for a ten year
(09:07):
period for crimes he may not have committed, may or
may not complete blanket pardon and now in theory he's
discussing whether or not he can. He probably can, whether
he should has a different story, pardon the liz Cheneys
of the world and Millie and his brother Jim, and
maybe himself. You really want to test it for all
(09:28):
crimes that may or may not have been committed. So
he's taking off investigations that the Trump DOJ can do
and uncover what happened with Biden inc. Think about that
for a second. If he's if a president has the
power constitutionally and it hasn't really been tested, if the
(09:50):
president has the power to constitutionally issue blanket pardons for
crimes that may or may not have ever happened, then
in theory, the president of the United States could say,
I just imagine that Alvin Bragg as president, what pardon
he would do? I hereby, as President of the United States,
(10:10):
pardon every American for any crime they may or may
not have committed between the beginning of history and now
if you extend to what he is doing, or what
he might do, or what he did for his son,
that's basically what you can do. Is that an absolute power,
it might be who knows. That would probably be tested
(10:35):
as Supreme Court, but who knows. And then of course
the United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who was literally shot
one block from where I am. Good thing, I wasn't
doing the morning show, My God, at six something in
the morning, right out front on fifty fourth Street and
sixth Avenue and we're on fifty fifth and sixth. He
(10:57):
was shot in the back, as you know. So I
had a chance to talk to some NYPD, very high
ranking officers during the week, and they including what's the yesterday?
And I mean they had they have an ID. They
know who this guy is. He's definitely not in New York.
They know that they have the backpack because they quietly
(11:20):
went into Central Park and scoured every little area because
they knew that the backpack was not on him anymore.
This is a surveillance state in case he didn't know,
This country is a surveillance state. They have eighteen thousand
cameras in New York City alone, you cannot walk anywhere
without being on camera. Frame by frame, every step you
(11:43):
take your on camera somewhere. I love the fact when
you go into TSA in the airport, they make you
show your ID as you're going through the TSA checkpoint
and you have to look into the camera and they
take a picture of you to crosscheck that that's you,
and then they say, of course your picture will be deleted,
(12:05):
you know right when you walk past here. Okay, right,
Like there's not some bank of my pictures going to
Florida or wherever, just like everybody else. But they're getting
from the backpack really important information. They have partial prints.
I mean, this guy was dumb enough to go to Starbucks.
Right before he put his hands on the water bottle,
(12:27):
he hands on the cup of coffee. And have you
heard about how they actually got that important facial shot
where it was the only time everywhere else on camera
that this guy was seen he had the mask on,
So they would never have Honestly, it would have been
much much harder to id this guy because he got
(12:47):
rid of the bag, assuming there was nothing that matched
him to who he is. But this guy was at
the hostel. And if it weren't for apparently a pretty
a pretty woman behind the desk at the hostel that
he was flirting with and she said something about, you know,
(13:07):
let me see who you are or something like that,
and he put the mask down. That was the money shot.
That was the whole shot. That Now there's a fifty
thousand dollars reward on this guy. If it weren't for that,
if this guy wasn't horned up, we never would have
known who he is. Maybe, But to think that this
guy was able to walk in, you know, at six
something in the morning, which is packed if any if
(13:28):
anyone's been in New York City at six six thirty
seven in the morning, it is loaded up with people
going to work, and this guy just takes out. And
here's another thing. That gun that he used is not
a typical gun. And that's that's what I was told.
So it's gonna be very very identifiable, easy to understand
(13:50):
that gun. It's not a typical you know, thirty eight
millimeters or whatever. So it's a It's interesting because there
are a ton of clues now in this guy. He
may be back in Atlanta, where he came from, but
he certainly went to very public places. And now we
know what he looks like. I mean, I got that
image in my head. I don't know how anybody will
(14:11):
get that image out A bigger nose, you know, this smile,
And so they're gonna get They will have this guy.
They'll id him. My guess is tomorrow. And I think
they'll have him by either tomorrow or Monday, because now
they're working with obviously it's a dragnet. They're working with
everybody along the Eastern Carter down to Atlanta, probably out Atlanta.
(14:32):
PD is working on this. So don't be surprised if
they get the assassin of Brian Thompson pretty shortly. I'm
surprised that it's actually taken this long that he was
able to get away. But we'll see. And so a
lot of things to talk about, and I'm gonna leave
it to you. But here's one other thing. This one
just blew me away of how stupid some of our
(14:55):
elected officials are and how far left the Democratic Party is.
And this is a perfect example. If you don't think
that the far left, the progressives who have been marching
on our streets and burning our flags and death to
America anti Semitic. Although woe crap all this stuff. If
you don't think that there is a very strong element
(15:17):
within the Democratic Party that hates this country, let's just
go to Edison, New Jersey, in Middlesex County. Excuse me.
So hopefully you've seen this, but if not, the Edison
Town Council meeting this past week two weeks ago, they
passed a local ordinance because members of the public were
(15:39):
coming and addressing their local elected officials, which is their right, clearly,
and the board passed an ordinance that you cannot have
any props during the public comment portion of the board meetings.
So what's a prop? Well, one guy, smart guy, Joe Batsof,
(16:01):
he's a lawyer. He went to speak very commonly and
he brought a little American flag and you know what,
the idiot, the council president, excuse me, the council president did.
He said that flag is a prop and he threw
him out of the meeting. He had the police officers
come and take this guy out of the meeting. Now,
(16:25):
residents were outraged, even some council members. Richard Bresher is
a Democrat, but he was outraged, and of course they backtracked, saying, oh,
we didn't mean that about the flag. The flag is fine.
The flag is not a prop you have right, You
knew exactly because you were asked that question a week
ago and you did say that. So this is what's
going on with these Democrats, and it doesn't have to
(16:46):
be on the national level. It could be in a
place like Edison, New Jersey, where these these far leftists
who have taken control of school boards, of town boards,
of village boards, of state capitals. Yes, obviously in Congress,
this is the stuff that they pull because they hate
stuff like the flag. The flag to them is oppressive.
(17:12):
And I hope this guy pays a price politically, and
I hope he gets sued, which they will. So stupid
of these people. Anyway, I'll take your calls in a second.
One in hundred three two one zero seven ten. One
eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. Boy, I'm
looking at who's calling in. It's all in New Jersey
right now. Where the hell are you in New York?
One in hundred three two one zero seven ten. I'll
(17:33):
even sneak in a Connecticut person if you want, But
I gotta tell you about Nissan City and Portchester. My friends,
is the air in here really dry? What's going on here? Bruce?
I can't take a swig of water. Hold on a second.
You want to play music? I don't know. Hold on
here we go. Last week I two weeks ago I
(17:54):
cursed by accident on the air. Last week I behaved
myself with the mayor. And this week I'm like coughing
because it's alright anyway. Portchester. Nissan City in Portchester. They
are tremendous. They have no hidden fees. They've is very
easy to buy a car if you want to. You
know what, if you want to buy a Nissan for
your loved one with that big bow on top for
Christmas morning, I would say you got to go to
(18:17):
Nissan City because they've got all the different models and
trims in stock, fabulous lease rates, good financing, offers, huge inventory.
They're going to respect you. You got their word, best
customer care anywhere. Be part of the family, the Integrity
Automotive Group. I'm part of their family. I got one
of my vehicles from them, So go visit them at
(18:38):
Nissan City in Portchester. Easy off two eighty seven or
ninety five Nissan City and why dot com You could
look up and see something that's in stock that you want,
make an appointment or just show up, and if you do,
you tell them I want the rob Astarino deal and
they'll give you five hundred dollars off any vehicle in stock.
Go say hi to my friends. I mean that they
(19:00):
are my friends at Nissan City in pot Chester. All right,
your call's next one eight hundred and three two one
zero seven ten at the rob Astarno show on seven
ten WR.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Rob on seven to ten, wor.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
I love this time of year, and go to see
the tree at Rockefeller Center overspend on gifts that are
going to be returned, and you know it's a nice place.
Angeletto's restaurant David Brignoli's restaurant on I told the mayor
last week. Afterwards we were I said it on the air,
but then afterwards I said, no, seriously, if you're going
(19:36):
to a restaurant in the city, go to David Barnoli's
restaurant Angeletto's on forty seventh and third, and he wrote
it down. I said no, seriously. I said, I'll take
you if you want to go one day and we'll
have something really nasty eat like really good Italian restaurant,
really good Italian food. And if we go on a
Saturday night, like it's tonight three hours from now, at
(19:58):
seven point thirty, they have Angelette Opera Nights. How cool
is that? Where they got you know, Broadway musicals, professional singers.
They played opera houses like the Met and they sing.
It's really pretty cool. So if you want to go
to Angeletto's, they're at eight ninety Second Avenue and forty
(20:18):
seventh Street, right near the un Pretty easy actually by
the subways in Grand Central and free parking after seven
on the street if you can get a spot. But
David Bernoli at Angeletto's restaurant, there was a story he
was had. I got to tell this story. He had
this one guy who came to him and said, I
want chicken parmejan and he said, I'm sorry, we don't
(20:40):
serve that. And the guy said, what are you kidding me?
I want chicken parm And the guy ordered an eight
hundred bottle of wine. So he knew this guy's got
like Boku bucks. He was going to spend probably a
couple thousand dollars and he said, I'm sorry, Now anyone
would have ran back and said, make me a freaking
chicken parm quick, quick quick. And he said, well, we
do we don't do that. And if I don't want
(21:02):
to try it, because we won't do it right, But
may I suggest some stuff that I think you really
love and if you don't, the entire dinner is on me.
And the guy said all right, and he brought him
his famous stuff and the guy loved it. He absolutely
loved it. So go say hi to David at Angeletto's
Restaurant in Manhattan. All right, I got to get to
(21:23):
your calls here one one hundred and three two one
zero seven ten on the rob Astarno Show. A lot
of joysy. So let's start with Jeff in Maplewood.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Hi, Jeff, Hey, Yes, I am from Jersey. I you
mentioned the Daniel pennycase before, and I think Daniel Bragg
was really an idiot for what he did legally, now
maybe emotionally, and then the New York system who knows,
(21:55):
but he charged him with both manslaughter and negligent homicide.
And everybody knew Penny was going to provide a justification
defense self defense. Well, if the jury buys that accepts that,
that's a defense to both crimes. So if you say, oh,
(22:20):
he's innocent from manslaughter because he was justified self defense,
that is totally the same for negligent homicide. In the words,
you can't split the difference. Using that defense, you can
have a compromised verdict when it's sort of like a
standalone crime, but when you introduce justification self defense, that
(22:43):
doesn't work.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
Now that's a good point, and Jeff, I appreciate you calling.
Let me set one thing straight. Alvin Bragg is not
a moron just because of this case. Alvin Bragg was
born a moron and he continues to be a moron
as our district attorney, Sandra. Sandra, I haven't spoken to
you in several weeks, Sondra, because I didn't get you
(23:06):
two weeks ago. We didn't take any calls last week
with the mayor here. I just wanted to have a
full conversation. How are Yah.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
I miss you very much, and I want to say
that your interview last week with Eric Adams was excellent.
First of all, I felt like you two were in
a living room setting. It was so relaxed, it was
so transparent. I learned so much about both of you.
So I want to thank you for that. And I
do feel that Eric Adams is turning the page and
(23:36):
coming to the right side of things, and I do
believe given the opportunity in the time, he's going to
do better. And again I want to thank you for
that interview. And then I wanted to say about Daniel Penny.
I hope the jurors to you know, a home and
they think carefully about their verdict because they don't know
(23:58):
that one day thing might happen to them. And if
they put Daniel Penny in prison, no one's going to
come to their defense to help them because those days
will be over. So I hope they think twice about
their decision. And then you know, it also will discourage
people from helping one human to another, and it's going
(24:19):
to encourage devian behavior. And then the last thing I
wanted to say is I don't appreciate the judge what
he did manipulating the outcome of this trial. He changed
a ten count to a four count. And if I
was a drawer and I went home, I said, well,
I don't want to put him in jail at all,
but oh, given this four year penalty, maybe I'll just
(24:42):
go with that and be done with it all. So
I think he manipulated in an unfair way, and that's
what I wanted to say, Rob, That's what I wanted.
Speaker 5 (24:49):
To say, and I miss you.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Thank you, Sandra. No. I think that's a good point
because the judge will look, he could throw it all
out at the end, despite the fact that the jury
might convict him. He could set aside the conviction. I
think with the jury deadlocked as it is, obviously there
are enough people on that jury that are thinking the
(25:14):
way you and I are thinking that this guy was
a hero. He was trying to help. His heart was
in the right place. By the way, Jordan Neely was
not a good guy. I mean, he had a rap sheet,
he was strung out, on drugs, a lot of issues,
and everyone on that train was saying they feared for
(25:36):
their life. Thank god somebody stepped up. So I think
that's playing in the minds of jurors and I think
they and I hope they get the bigger picture, because
you're right, I wouldn't lift a finger to help anybody
if I knew that I was going to be completely
in jeopardy. And it's true too, you know, it's not
always criminal charges. You can be as Daniel Penny's gonna
(25:59):
find out, he's gonna to deal with this all over
again on a civil way. That's not funn either. You
got to defend yourself. One hundred and three two one
zero seventy ten. Let's go to Mario is Mario and
Messina upstate New York.
Speaker 6 (26:16):
Hey, hope you're doing well. It's cold up here in snow.
Bottom line is the bottom line is the pardons or disgrace.
Hunter Biden sold drugs when he was in the Navy.
He should be doing life in loven Worth. His father
was always wipe in his nose and is behind in
his koloa. He has to take his medicine. He's done
terrible things. And I want to end on a positive note.
(26:38):
Infro with Pausofwar dot org. They help American Veterans and
their service Animals VMCAA on Long Island help and doctor
Spizido and doctor Powell Richard Valley Animal Practice stat in Island.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
All right, thank you. Let's go to Kathy in North Carolina. Hi, Kathy,
you're on the Rob Estromino Show.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
Hi.
Speaker 7 (26:57):
I feel like Sondra too, Like I haven't talked yet
for a couple of weeks. And ditto what Sandra said
about Mayor Adams. That was like an excellent, excellent interview
and I learned a lot too, And I just want
to say that that was I just enjoyed it very much,
and I think he should do more of them than
I'm really proud of you for getting him on. My
(27:18):
second point is about is about with Penny. I thought
that there was a procedural rule in court that you
could not file the civil case until the criminal case
was done, So I was kind of confused about that.
Maybe somebody will call in and cover that. And then
lastly the because you asked for all of it, so
we're doing the in the immigrants, I don't understand why
(27:42):
we're talking about I mean, I know we're just in
this stage of starting to talk about doing this returning them,
but I don't understand why there's so much do process
being talked about. Why do we have to have all
this you know it'll take years kind of thing. Why
can't we just offer immigrants the same way we said,
do you want to go to New York City? How
about we just offer them a plane ride back anywhere
(28:05):
in South America and take them because it could not
be any any more expensive than the six billion that
it's costing to keep them in hotels and everything. I
don't understand the procedure that is going to be so
difficult about that. I understand about the criminals, that's that's
going to be quicker, But just your average ones that
come in, you know, just offer them to go back,
(28:27):
or don't offer them, but just tell them wherever they
want to go, We'll send them there and get them
a plane ticket. What could it cost one thousand dollars?
Speaker 2 (28:35):
No, No, I just so Kathy, the first of all,
thanks again for calling and listening. And the mayor mentioned
six billion dollars New York City has paid. New York
City taxpayers have spent six billion dollars. That's money that's
not going towards seniors or parks and rec or social
(28:57):
services or garbage pickup. That's money that's not going to
cops or firefighters or schools. That's money that's going down
a drain. And why can't we just put them on
the plane send them back to their country of origin.
We will adjudicate your hearing whenever. We will tell you
when you want to come back and do it in person. Fine,
(29:19):
or your representative can be here. But why should they
have the right to live freely, roam around, do whatever
they want for the next eight years until their case
is heard. The answer is they shouldn't. They broke the law.
Their due process, according to immigration is get out and
when we adjudicate your asylum claim, which ninety nine percent
(29:41):
of them are completely false, they are not qualified for asylum,
then we'll call you back. How's that. I think that's
perfectly legal, and that's what we should be doing, because
that will also cut off the incentive to come here.
Oh wait, they're going to send me back, and then
(30:02):
I got to wait eight years to come back. And
if I come back again, now I'm a criminal. I mean,
you're a criminal to begin with in some respects, but
now you'll actually be a felon one hundred three two
one zero seven ten. Let's go to Steve in Central
New Jersey. Hi, Steve.
Speaker 8 (30:20):
Rob Rob. I think it's it's important to remember what
today commemorates. Eighty three years.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Yeah, I'm the Japanese. Thank you for bringing that up.
I totally forgot about it.
Speaker 8 (30:29):
Go ahead, The Japanese bombed the US naval base in Hawaii,
ushering art the US's entry into the Second World War.
Since history is twat so lousy, these days were not
taught properly at all, and not so at all. Let's
remember Adolf Hitler comes to power the same year as FDR.
Because of FDR's isolationist policies, he didn't think Hitler was
(30:51):
a big deal to worry about until June nineteen forty one,
when what happens Rob the Soviet Union communists are attacked
by Germany, and then some of his communist supporters FDR say,
excuse me, mister President, I think we got to start
paying attention to what's going on there, and he starts
getting the US on a war footing moving forward, making
a mistake about it. Rob I watched the documentary with
(31:12):
Norman Schwartzkoff at General German Nurse Coff did Schwortzcoff in
ninety five, the fiftieth anniversary that Hitler and the Axis
Evils were on the move in Europe. He had almost
all of Europe at that point that we entered. All
you have to do is get through the Soviet Union.
He was moving. He was in North Africa. The plan
was to go west west across the ocean, sent into
(31:34):
South America, and that he was coming our away. WHI
Roosevelt and his people didn't see it earlier will never know.
Having said that, schwartz Cloff also pointed out in this
documentary that so we entered the war in December nineteen
forty one, by February of forty two, although we weren't
ready for war yet by February forty two, and thanks
in large part to our entry, that begins the pushback
(31:55):
of Adolf Hitler and the Axis evil powers, and the
beginning the end of Adolph Hitler. So let's just remember
what's honor the brave soldiers. I have a personal someone,
personally I'd like to remember. If it's okay, he's no
longer with UT's get it? Can I do it real quick?
Go ahead? His name is Fred Jeffrey. He served in
(32:16):
what was they didn't have an air force. Then he fought.
He served in the US Army Air Corps. All right,
He survived the Japanese sniper attack. He made it home.
Although I'm told he left the war in many ways
of the war, it never left him. Now he's been
gone four years. Body and soul, his spiritless still lives
yere in his godson and great nephews. Thank you very much, Rob,
(32:39):
Anything you have to say would be really appreciated, right.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Steve, thank you. Yet I saw, of course, today is
Pearl Harbor Day, and I think there are ten remaining
veterans who were on the ship that day, the Arizona
ten still left sent Obviously they're over there. I think
all of them are over one hundred years old. But
(33:02):
God bless them, God bless them. Can you imagine what
that was like? Oh my god, one two, one zero
seven ten. Let me sneak in a quick call here,
Patricia and Brooklyn High.
Speaker 9 (33:14):
Hey, I did this inter your ince of you with
Eric Adams last week. As far as I'm concerned, he's
full of crap. He calls everybody who's white a cracker
when it can, when it's convenient to him.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Well, he did that once.
Speaker 9 (33:30):
I mean he also, no, it's not once.
Speaker 10 (33:33):
Many times.
Speaker 9 (33:34):
He also says crying is down in the subways in
the city. That's nonsense. He is so full garbage. I'm
tired of it. That's why I love when you do Rob,
no joke, when you do these restaurant reviews and these
wevely stories about traveling with your family. It's common. I
(33:57):
am so tired of the depression.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
Is well, Patricia, I thank you for the call, and yeah,
you know, look I told the mayor, I said, look,
this is your chance to get your story out. I
want to talk to you about issues, and I want
to talk to you about personal stuff. And I honestly
I wish I had another hour with him. And my
my thinking is because we talked about this, that he'll
(34:21):
come back on at some point and we'll do more.
And I had, I had a million things I wanted
to ask him, and we spent the entire hour together.
So it was I was. I was grateful for him
for doing that, and I hope you learn more about him,
plus or minus, it's totally up to you, but I
just wanted you to hear from him directly. Let me
(34:41):
let me tell you about Benjamin Steakhouse because now it's
such a beautiful time to go to a Benjamin Steakhouse.
They got two in New York City, one in Westchester
in White Plains. It's it's kind of like Hartsdale, but
it's White Plains Street address and is a beautiful time
it's so fest it's cozy. They got the fireplace going.
(35:03):
They're all lit up with the holiday lights. It's really pretty.
And if you want to go to Benjamin Steakhouse, now's
the time, between now and New Year's Eve. They've got
these specials going. They're open for the holidays in Westchester.
Sanna is going to be there. I don't think he's going.
I'm not sure if Santa's going to New York City.
Maybe Santa Santa's security detail doesn't think it's safe. But
(35:26):
he's definitely going to be in Westchester. And it'll be there,
you know. So take the kids. You get a complimentary
souvenir picture with Santa and Missus Claus, as many photos
as you want. And they've got a children's menu. They've
got a lunch menu for sixty nine ninety five. You
get three courses great you know, filet mignon, salmon, chicken palm.
(35:49):
I never understood why somebody would order a chicken palm
at a at a great steakhouse like Benjamin, but they do.
I think they should be escorted from the facility if
they if they say, I'll have a chain can parm.
But I don't know. I mean, I mean, I'm a
I'm not the biggest steak eater, but when I go
to a Benjamin's, I want I want steak because they
know how to make it. And then on Christmas you
(36:11):
can get their Christmas Eve, Christmas Day. They've got all
these different specials and New Year's Eve. People are just
starting to make their plans right now and they're gonna
have a midnight toast. So the best thing to do
go to Benjamin Steakhouse dot com and look it up
Benjamin Steakhouse because they are a cut above the rest
one zero seven ten plus I got a whole bunch
(36:31):
of things to talk to talk to you about, So
don't go away. We're here till.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
Five seven Double R Present the rob Astarno Show.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
That's my favorite Christmas song. I love it pur Lives.
Thank you Bruce for playing it for me Christmas. Did
you see Oh my God? All right, make sure you
follow me on social media like Facebook and x, Instagram,
all of those at robot stu reno how does he
(37:01):
spell that? Ast o R I n O? And if
you want to hear the full interview with Mayor Adams
from last week, you can just go to seven ten
WR dot com, the podcast tab the rob Astorino Show
and there it is, or you can get on that
iHeart app. Hopefully you have it on your phone by now,
and look at the rob As do Reno Show and
(37:23):
just play it off that. And if you're driving around
into Toyota and you're like, it's time for a new one,
then I would go to Toyota City in where you
should know by now, Ma Maronick, and then you could
just tune in on sevent ten wherever you're driving in
your nice new or pre owned Toyota because they've got
(37:45):
a huge lot full of cars that have your name
on it. So make sure you get to Toyota City
because they're going to treat you nicely. They're going to
be very honest about the pricing. They're not gonna screw you.
They're gonna follow up after you owned it. They got
a great service department, really good customer care, and they
(38:07):
are part of the Integrity Automotive Group. So they've got
I forget how many dealerships, but they have them in Jersey,
they have them in New York City, they have them
all over and to in Westchester and that's Nissan City
from before in Toyota City. So make sure you go
to Toyota cityy dot com and see what's in stock
(38:28):
and what you might want to get, and head over
to Toyota City. Look at a vehicle you want it,
you tell them rob Astorino sent you. They're going to
give you five hundred dollars off if it's in stock,
and it should be because they have so many of them.
So go say how to our friends at Toyota City,
Toyota City, why dot Com. I guess I got to
(38:49):
get to a couple more calls. I still have a
lot of things I want to talk about, though. All right,
let's go to Lewis and Queens. You're on with me,
Roberto Astorno, Well, hello there, Lewis.
Speaker 11 (39:02):
Yes, good afternoon, sir. As to the issue of the
presence of the illegal aliens in our country, it's very
simple solution.
Speaker 6 (39:12):
Trump.
Speaker 11 (39:13):
Trump is storming and screaming about become of mass deportation.
It's not going to happen. It will never happen, basically
because these countries will not take the people back, and
other countries will.
Speaker 8 (39:24):
They don't want.
Speaker 11 (39:24):
Any money, they don't even want to consider billions of dollars.
Speaker 8 (39:28):
To take these people.
Speaker 11 (39:29):
What you do is these people are all pending a
immigration hearing as to the veracity of their claim for asylum. Okay,
so what you do is you have massive, wide open tracks,
not including national parks, wide open tracks of lands throughout
the United States. I work for an industrial contractor, and
he told me is no reason why contractors cannot be
(39:52):
hired by the government to build these people communities in
these open tracks. Get them out of the major cities,
indicate a presence of crying for these people. Let them
have their own community, their own small towns, and give
them minimum standards. You give them three hots and a cot. Basically,
you give them whatever opportunities they can get, but you
(40:15):
don't subsidize them with five hundred dollars a day hotel rooms,
or thousand dollars a month for the food they like
to eat.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
Yeah, no, Lewis, it's a good point. I would. I
wouldn't build them a city. I would build them, as
I think you were indicating, a big tent with a
cot and some meals. If we had to keep them
here and make it so they don't want to stay,
they can stay in that little area, and that's where
you'll stay for the next eight years if you'd like,
pending your hearing. You're not allowed to go roam around
(40:44):
the city and make a life for yourself here because
you're not supposed to be here to begin with. You
came in illegally. We'll get to your hearing, and when
we get to it in let's see November of twenty
thirty three is when you're scheduled. So you can stay
where you are, that big old tent, or you can
go back to where you came from and we'll call
(41:06):
you when we're ready. How's that? Two one zero seven ten?
Bonnie and New Hope, Pennsylvania. Hi, Bonnie, Hi, Rob.
Speaker 5 (41:15):
I wanted to know. Do you think Eric Adams will
switch parties and become a Republican? But that's not really
why I'm calling.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
Why do you ask me? Go ahead, Bonnie?
Speaker 5 (41:28):
I want to know. I think he will.
Speaker 2 (41:30):
No, I don't think he will. Know he won't. Why
not he won't because he's going to run a primary.
They're going to run a primary against him. He's a Democrat,
and he just he won't. And I don't even think
the Republican Party in New York would give it to him.
It's not like web.
Speaker 5 (41:47):
But I think there's something wrong with your microphone. I
can barely hear you.
Speaker 2 (41:51):
Well, I don't I'm talking into a microphone. I don't know.
It sounds sounds good over there.
Speaker 5 (41:56):
Guys, I can't hear you. And I all.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
Right, listen to my answer on the radio. I know,
I do not think he's going to change parties. I
think he's going to be a Democrat and the Republicans
will put somebody up against him if he wins the primary.
You know, obviously he's got a court case coming up.
If he gets over that, if the charges are dropped
or or he is not convicted, then I think he's
(42:18):
got a really good shot at re election. But he's
going to be in a primary, no question. All right, Uh, Sally,
you've got from New Jersey Westfield. You've got about thirty seconds.
Go ahead.
Speaker 10 (42:31):
No, I just want to know you know more about
this to me? How how is this the open borders
invasion is not charged with treason? Treason against the country,
I mean, not a scott people. People are just like
I mean a lot of people, you know, they're like,
(42:53):
it's still.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
A big deal.
Speaker 2 (42:55):
Yeah, that's why. That's why Joe Biden, and thanks for
the call. Sell is thinking about pre emptive blanket pardons
for people like Majorcis, for anyone involved in this immigration stuff,
as well as you know, many other people, and maybe
even himself, because in many ways it is treason. They
(43:18):
clearly disregarded immigration law. He did too, and they have
set up this system where and that's why the Republicans
did not vote for and didn't bring it to the
Senate floor, that quote bipartisan bill. Were there like two
Republicans that supported it, including Langford from Oklahoma where it
set it up minimums, it basically would have perpetuated this,
(43:42):
So they shouldn't have voted for this. You know, I
unfairly two weeks ago, when I was leaving here, I
said I was going to Sergio's of Pelham, a restaurant
which I mentioned to the mayor if he wanted to
sneak out of the city and go to Westchester for dinner,
I would take him to s And he said he's
been there and it's a wonderful place. But I had said, look,
(44:06):
if I go to a restaurant and I don't really
love it, I'm not going to talk about it on
the air, and so I left it with I'll tell
you next week if you hear me talk about it.
But then next week was the mayor, so I didn't
do it. So I had someone come up to me.
I guess you didn't like Sergio's. You didn't talk about it.
That's absolutely untrue. I loved it. My wife and I
went out with another couple. And it is a beautiful
(44:30):
old house on Fifth Avenue in Pelham, and Sergio, who
owns it, I guess, with his son Alban just they
were so such wonderful hosts, and some people had come
up to us that night and said hello, and it
was really a beautiful place. So we really enjoyed ourselves
at Sergio's. It was I thought, wonderful food. I actually
(44:52):
ordered the wrong dish. It was a veal dish, but
what came was really good. It was like a darker
should have brought the menu. It was a darker, like
a gravy over with mushrooms of something over veal, and
it was it was actually very good. I liked it anyway.
It we had great, great appetizers and great desserts and
(45:16):
we left there our bellies were full, our wallets were
not broken. And we we downed a couple the couple
empty bottles of wine. I'll admit that, but that's okay.
We we we drank responsibly over a long period of time,
and then nobody drove drunk. It was a really good place,
and Sergio's of Pellam is a nice place to go
to and it was decked up really nice for the
(45:38):
holidays too. So yes, I will give five stars to
Sergios of Pelham. If you want to go, say hi
to Sergio and Albin, please do so. Sergios of Pellam
dot com. I just looked it up if you wanted
to go there the other day. So I have been
very involved in my church, and i'm elector, which means
(46:00):
I read it mass. I was a cyo basketball coach
for all my three kids, and I sometimes i'm a
eucharistic minister, which means I hand out the host at
Communion and I help you know, the priests or whoever.
So it strikes me as crazy when you're at church,
(46:21):
it's like baseball players and bunting. You taught that, like
when you're in Little league. You should know how to bunt.
If you're a Catholic going to Mass, you should know
how to receive communion and from I would probably say
ninety percent of the people coming up to receive the
Body of Christ have no idea what they're doing. You're
(46:43):
supposed to put your hands out, and you're supposed to
After the Eucharist, ministers holds up the community and says,
Body of Christ. You're supposed to say amen, he puts
it in your hand, you take it, you put it
in your mouth. You can make the sign across if
you want, but reverent reverently, and then walk back to
your seat. Do you know how many people come up
(47:07):
with their hands down like zombies, and I'm like, Body
of Christ, what do you want me to do? Like
flick it? What do you want me to do? Or
people like I really don't like when they stick their
tongue out and I'm supposed to put it on the tongue.
That's just me. But you can receive it that way.
But they come up and they don't, so their hands
are out, I say Body of Christ and they sit
(47:28):
there silently like we're having a standoff. I'm like, you're
supposed to take the communion and you're supposed to say amen.
That like concludes our little action. Here, then you go
back to your seat. You learn that in CCD, you
learn that in communion when you made your communion or confirmation.
(47:50):
And yet it boggles my mind. Or people come out
with one hand out stretch, or they'll mumble.
Speaker 3 (47:56):
Men.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
I had this one kid. This was kind of cute.
I almost started laughing. I don't know if he was
even able to receive or not, because you're not supposed to.
You have your communion, holy communion. Anyway, he comes up
and I say Body of Christ, and he looks at
me and he puts his hand into the chalice to
(48:21):
take the communion like it's like it's Halloween, like he's
grabbing M and m's Anyway, I gotta get out of here.
It's five o'clock. So there's so many things I didn't
get to. I'll save them next week. But I'm glad
you called in. Listen to the Adams interview if you
want forward it to friends. Tell your friends about the
rob Astarino show every Saturday at five o'clock. Right here.
(48:45):
Now it's time for me to somehow get through the
masses of people between here and Grand Central. It'll be fun. Anyway,
You have a great Saturday. Night, enjoy your Sunday, and
I'll be back next Saturday at four o'clock right here
on seven to ten wor.
Speaker 1 (49:01):
This hour of programming on seven ten WOOR is sponsored
by Toyota City and Mamaranac and Nissan City of port Chester,
proud members of the Integrity Automotive Group,
