Speaker 1 (00:00):
Over the weekend in Huntsville and all throughout Alabama. It
was Redcress Major League Fishing's big Championship. Were the winner,
Dustin Connell to come three hundred thousand dollars and he
joins us this morning.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Dude, congrats, thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Dustin Connell just won his third Red Cress Championship on
Lake Gunnersville. All three of yours have been in the
state of Alabama. Right lake, you falla lay Lake and
then Gunnersville.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yes, that is absolutely crazy to think of, but I
love the state of Alabama.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
So he's from Clanton, Alabama, down off the Coos River.
Has been a hammer for a long time, just in
case nobody knows who you are. But so, what's it
like when you finally get to Huntsville, you go to
the VBC and you hoist that trophy for a third time.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Man, I'll be honest, I'm slow tired. I'm oh my goodness.
You know, we had three days of practice, we had
an off day of media day, and we had four
days of tournament. And it has been brutal this week.
If you've been in the southeast, you know what the
(01:06):
weather's been doing. It's been pretty real. So yeah, I'm tired, man,
but just pulling in there and winning that start time
is sound real.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Well, congratulations again, we know everybody in Alabama was pulling
for you. It was an electric week. For those that
don't know how Redcrest works in Major League Fishing works,
they do it a little differently than some of the
other major trails. So it's not cumulative. It's not your
weight that lasts all the way throughout the tournament, Megan,
it's you battle the first two days of cumulative weight.
(01:38):
Then you make a cut. They put everybody back to
zero because you could be leading fifty points or fifty pounds,
but then they put you back to zero. They do
that on the third day, and they do it on
the final day too.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
It's just so impressive really, I mean because when you
and me went on the kiddie pool kitty pool tournament
that we did for Butlet of Toys, yep, that was
my first experiences of like, oh, we really are out
here all day.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Well, Dustin, congratulations, my guy. Everybody was supporting you and
really wanted to see you do well, and you came
out on top. So congrats, thank.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
You, absolutely, thank y'all for all the support and just
everybody that has timed in and said thank you. I'm
gonna try to get back to all the congrats here food.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
How many unread text messages do you.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Have, dude, I've got five or six hundred right now.
I'm literally just about to get my day started, and
I'm like, oh man, I got a long day ahead,
but I'm so blessed and fortunate to have this day
and yesterday. So thank y'all.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
It is certainly worth it. Dustin kind of all, the
champion of Red Crest with Major League Fishing
