High Gravity is a show where we talk about beer, brewing, and bullshit! Our primary goal is to talk about Michigan goings on in the beer world and local happenings around our beautiful state. Our aim is to present this information in a fun and not too serious way so that everyone from new brewers and beer drinkers to the most seasoned and experienced enthusiasts can enjoy the show! The more we drink during the show, the more comes out and the more fun we have so language CAN get a bit colorful at times though we do our best to keep it in check, most of the time!! We hope you enjoy the show!
Episode 140: Darklord Day 2026 This is a tale about a group of guys who went out of state on a most grand of adventures! Along the way they make a number of stops, try new foods and make new friends as they traverse the vast distance of smoke supply stores between Michigan and Indiana (seriously there were like 23 in the final mile...) all the while trying many other beers at each stop. There are tales of tacos, a hot tub and a boa...
Episode 139: Duck in the Dungeon With a hefty discussion about D&D to start the episode, the guys get into a VERY interesting (and ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE) beer to start off, enough that Mr. Jim left a review for it on the spot on Untappd... Johnny, if to further prove how NOT RIGHT IN THE HEAD he is, did finish the can though, no surprise there... TRUST me DO NOT take up Brother Darrell in his offer for the remaining can of this.....
Episode 138: Quick and Dirty
Notes for this episode, there are none. We recorded it, I got home, did some quick and editing (cut in the intro and outro...) and uploaded it so guess you're just going to have to listen to it to find out what we did because I just didn't really feel like writing anything, not going to lie... OH, we found a beer Johnny DID NOT LIKE!! So there was that at least...

Episode 137: Pull the Cork The guys are joined my Mr. Jeff's (aka Duffman) wife and one of the 3 sisters Sam this week for a bit different of an episode, we're doing WINE! It's really kinda hard to write too many notes here, we talk about wine, sampling, color, flavors, smells, Jim reads the descriptions AND attempts some accents while reading, some fun stories, one of the wines has some cherry in it that Darrell picks out RIGHT aw...
Episode 136: Meandering Back to Collision Bend
This week the guys are joined once again by Luke Purcell from Collision Bend Brewing down in Cleveland Ohio for some more of their AMAZING brews AND he has a few choice selections from Starr Craft to go back and forth with the guys! Shout out again as well of course to Phil and all the crew down at Collision Bend Brewing for the great beers and great conversation and to Joe across the...
Episode 135: Welcome Back Welcoming one of the three sisters Sam back to the show, the guys (and her) get into some locally produced and rather fancily dressed bottled beers in this weeks episode. Everyone having been tired, the guys presumably from a long weekend at Darklord Day, conversation as expected gets colorful towards the start until the beers FINALLY get pouring, then it varies rest of the show entirely. Johnny gets a bit...
Episode 134: Cassie The guys are joined by a new guest this week, Cassie from "the business next door"! Breaking her in with some pretty heavy beers, the guys get right into some VERY good selections from Perrin to start out this week. Things do get a bit weird off the rip, there's too many small and short stories to single out anything in particular in the description here, but lots of fun general and RANDOM conversation!
Beers fe...
Episode 133: Further from the light This weeks episode starts out with some discussion of an apparent new release from Pabst that DOES NOT make Mr. Jim a very happy camper, though naturally makes Johnny want to try the weirdness, imagine that haha. Bit of conversation about Mr. Jims new job and a bunch of other chats before we FINALLY get into the first beer of the episode! Bit shorter of an episode and fairly simple beers this wee...
Episode 132: Hey Voice Assistant
Johnny Starts out this weeks episode with a shout out to some of our overseas listeners that have had a HUGE uptake in our numbers the last few weeks, thanks for listening folks, VERY much appreciated! Starting out with making fun of ai robots, ai and a mild misuse of phone assistant voice prompts, the guys do finally get into their first beverage of the day! Conversation seems to devolve quite quic...
Episode 131: Guess What Joined by Mr. Jeff (aka Jipper, aka Duffman, definitely NOT late for beer though...) the guys start out with a potentially questionable beverage in terms of how it was stored before purchase. It brings on some discussion about making choice beer selections when shopping around. Brother Darrell was a bit late to this episode and for whatever reason, with Mr. Jeff filling in, it seems he managed to keep the ep...
Episode 130: We start at 10 It was raining HEAVILY when we recorded this, the guys have a bit of a slower start this week but fear not, we eventually get to the beer!! OH and Happy Birthday to Darrell I guess too... More conversation and an easy going episode overall this time, lots of interesting stories like Johnnys Cranberry "juice box" from an event at the brewery the day before, Jim talks about a day at work, we talk about bee...
Episode 129: Duffman and Mr. Bill This week WE ARE BACK TO BEER!! Mr. Bill was STILL with us for the third week in a row AND Mr. Jeff, (aka Duffman) joined us for the triumphant return to beer on the show! The show starts out a bit into our third element to which JOHNNY of all brings it back to the MAIN point here, BEER!! Amongst the conversations, Mr. Jim tells us a bit about his new job, Mr. Bill brings up a story about 60 year o...
Episode 128: Rums of the Caribbean Ahoy Me Hearties Yo-Ho! Fear not, the rum is NOT gone!! Joined again by Mr. Bill this week the guys get into something a bit different, RUM and a lot of it so as to not run out because with the rum gone, that's just a bad time!! With some amazing selections from Africa and A LOT from all around the Caribbean the guys try out a whole bunch of stuff today from Mr. Bills collection and have A LOT of ...
Episode 127: Dropped my danish The guys this week are joined by the always awesome Mr. Bill!! He shared a selection of his homebrew and several commercial ciders with the guys in this weeks episode. While starting off with the first of our wonderful beverage selections the guys get into some discussion about the upcoming Darklord Day event the guys are going to in a few months and the Mr. Bill is attending as well! A big shout-out ...
Episode 126: Good Golly After a brief and most wonderful serenade by Brother Darrell, and the realization Johnnys computer is literally falling apart, the guys finally kick the episode off with a few wonderful cider selections from Mr. Jim's collection. Good conversation this time about apples, apple trees and the cider processing, the guys get into other stories as always, like how at last weeks trivia, Johnny won a sugar scrub an...
Episode 125: 22 Second Skip Not exactly sure what happened with this one, to Darrells delight, there were issues getting one of todays samples to open so we ended up skipping a whole bottle of wonderful (per Johnnys stance anyhow...) cherry wine. We did manage to recover with an absolutely FANTASTIC selection from a local maker followed by the lone beer the guys had in todays episode. Johnny did manage to get some of the "bonus" wi...
Episode 124: Hey Zach we got your mom drunk
Not sorry for it either man, it was A LOT of fun haha. The guys are joined this week by a special guest, that kept another guest on edge the entire time! We were joined my Mr. Jeff's wife (and Zach from the titles mom...) Anne!! She brought with her an INSANELY good collection of Schramm's mead and each one seemed to get better than the one before. Everything was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC and ...
Episode 123: Episode 123 HA! That seemed like a funny title when I was editing so I rolled with it... ANYWAYS, we start our sort of salute to Valentines days with Johnny's sad and depressing plans for the night then get into a PHENOMENAL selection of beers we have for this week. While there is certainly some BS as always that you all have come to know and love, there was a lot of good beer talk with these beers this week. I'll keep...
Episode 122: Rule of the Parrots The guys are joined by a new guest, long time friend of Johnny's, Mr. Kevin! With fun tales of drinking days past, such as their induction to the class of 1988's HS reunion which coincidentally was the year they were born! Many other stories for all at the table this week and lots of good beer talk this time, kind of hard to add too any other notes here so grab a beverage and enjoy the show this wee...
Episode 121: His Name Jeff The guys are joined by Mr. Jeff (aka duffman) once again with some ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC beers on the show today! Stories abound from last nights dinner and beers gathering at Mr. Jims house, also some stories from California, stuff about hot peppers and a bunch of other stuff. Pretty heavy beer related episode and MOSTLY on topic throughout but still lots of fun and funny stuff! There's more but I am EXHA...
