High Gravity is a show where we talk about beer, brewing, and bullshit! Our primary goal is to talk about Michigan goings on in the beer world and local happenings around our beautiful state. Our aim is to present this information in a fun and not too serious way so that everyone from new brewers and beer drinkers to the most seasoned and experienced enthusiasts can enjoy the show! The more we drink during the show, the more comes out and the more fun we have so language CAN get a bit colorful at times though we do our best to keep it in check, most of the time!! We hope you enjoy the show!
Episode 116: Collision Bend Brewing
Originating from a day trip to Cleveland, some dude named Phil standing in the street with a stack of pallets (Hey Phil) and a quick discussion about a can of PB Blaster, a few fantastic beers followed Johnny home to become this episode! Previously from Great Lakes Brewing Company, NOW from his own brewery, Collision Bend Brewing Company, Mr. Luke Purcell joins the guys for their first remote pho...

Most importantly, enjoy some cold beverages while you are enjoying the holiday seasons events! Anyways, we start out with one of the strangest beers we have had, following a story of a REALLY odd holiday game that is apparently playe...
Episode 114: Butter on a Pop tart We started the episode out with some random chatting and BS as usual, including a short serenade from Mr Jim before finally getting into the first of our VERY strong selections of the day! Some fairly mild conversation this episode really, decent amount a beer chat with the beers featured today though the BS conversations were uncharacteristically mild for the guys... I'll be honest, I forgot to wo...
Episode 113: Johnnys Beer Box Joined by THREE guests (Sam, Al and Deb) this episode making it the most we have had at one time! This third session episode is a bit short but it's a VERY fun, beer and mostly BS filled episode. We get through a couple extra beers and do so WAY faster than normal with all the guests, and though it is a bit distracting with so many people, the BS flows FAR TOO WELL.! OH, and to finish the call out, Sam...
Episode 112: Johnny NOOOOOO Joined again by Sam and this time Deb joins as well for our 2nd episode of the session! Starting the episode off with a coffee beer, the beers keep coming and the conversation keeps a flowin! The BS starts off pretty early and continues through the episode though there is still a lot of beer talk amongst it! Partway through the episode, Deb switches out with a new guest, Mr Al! No $50 two pack or $29 spe...
Episode 111: Dream Daddy This episode being from an unusual late night recording session in the evening when it's dark outside the guys are joined by one of the three sisters Sam! Starting off the episode with a beer that is one of Darrell's most favorite styles and with a favorite ingredient! This episode starts off the fall into our traditional 3 episode recording sessions and let me say, the few episodes you guys are in for a lo...
Episode 110: Return of the Donkey Neapolitan ice cream themed beers are featured in the majority of this episode, for the most part anyways. The guys get into some cooking suggestions and other recommendations, a few brief spicy details along with plenty of other stories and random BS as usual. Mr. Jim brought some SUPER HOT hot sauce for the guys to try out this week and the donkey makes a comeback along with a special guest towa...
Episode 109: Hello Marty Hello Carol With a sort of unique opening this episode, the guys greet some friends who for whatever reason, our show auto plays EVERY time they get in their car to go anywhere. You guys MAY be responsible for the majority of our plays but nonetheless thank you for listening, we are kind of NOT sorry this keeps happening... This week's episode gets into some ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL beers sponsored by Mr. Jeff...
Episode 108: Oh Yeah Welcoming back Mr. Jeff to the show, the jokes are still rolling still from his Halloween party costume character from a fairly well known tv show. The guys start right off with a VERY long titled special beverage from Mr. Jeff's goody bag and the conversation just keeps going as to the INSANELY good beers! With the 2nd beer of the episode, EVERYONE starts to question the sanity of Mr. Jim after a VERY powerful...
Episode 107: Laughing Shake Starting the episode off with an odd story about the Starr Craft brewery Halloween party from a few days before recording, the guys are joined by brewery regulars Bob and his wife Mel, both whom have been on the show before and bring a great presence to the group. A shout out and huge congratulations also to Johnny's cousin Dave and his wife Emily on their wedding also from the weekend and the day preced...
Episode 106: Give em the Schwarz Mr. Bill joins the guys again along with some more of his CRAZY GOOD homebrews. The episode starts off very on topic with a fair bit of cider discussion. Johnny adds some more discussion about the Wheels in the Woods event from a few weeks ago, and the guys move onto an AMAZING mead selection from Mr. Bill. With so much beer and brewing discussion going on this episode, UNFORTUNATELY Darrell has to ...
Episode 105: Mr. Bills Bag One of our shorter episodes this week, Mr. Bill has again graced the guys with his presence and his WONDERFUL bag 'o beverages!! Starting the episode off with one of Mr. Darrell's favorites a rather unique farmhouse style sour and moving quickly onto another of Mr. Bill's AMAZING homebrews! Johnny talks a bit about the brewery Oktoberfest party and a bit about one of his first homebrew beers and the judgi...
Episode 104: Second Anniversary Joining the guys for this special occasion, Mr. Bill graced the guys with his presence once again and brought a treat they have been talking about for close to two years now!! They were absolutely AMAZING and went SOOOO well with the choices in studio when they recorded, apologies for the chewing sounds but MAN were they good!! The guys have been out of the studio for awhile so they do catch up with ...
Episode 103: Case of Misfits The guys get into some IPAs this week, at least starting off it's a very beer focused episode again, weird I know! Stories don't fall too far from subject related this week either so that's probably why the description looks so short, just feels kinda off doesn't it? OH! Johnny did talk about some beer math for the mug club membership costs later on, so that happened too... I suppose some conversation t...
Episode 102: Staring at these Beers This episode takes on a Michigan summer beer theme, everything the guys get into this is from Michigan and has some sort of tropical or summer theme. Johnny and Jim talk about the group visit to Schram's Meadery and some other stops around Ferndale they made the weekend before. WONDERFUL trip btw if you haven't been, HIGHLY recommend visiting! Overall it's a VERY beer focused episode, with Johnny...
Episode 101: Beers we haven't had Starting off with an unusual style of beer, and an unusually older one for the guys, the first one was graciously donated by Mr. Jeff the beer donator, thank you again Mr. Jeff! Sadly A LOT of the beers characteristics seem to have fallen off though... MOSTLY this episode stays on topic with beer discussions, though as the conversation goes a bit towards NOT good things about a local guy at another...
Episode 100: Episode 100 Keeping things simple and kind of mellow for this one, the guys get into a fantastic selection of beers for this milestone episode and do what they can to keep the show as on topic as possible. Of course they go off track a bit and there is SOME BS in the episode though it is still a mellow and fun episode. Somehow it appears Johnny is the one keeping the episode on topic of beer this time too amongst all t...
Episode 99: Cheers to Pudge In this wonderfully mead filled episode, the guys continue their occupation of the super secret location, use courtesy of Mr. Jeff and his wife, along with the same guest appearances of Mr. Jeff on the mic and everyone's wives (and Johnny's mixer...) in the background. This being essentially a third episode of this recording session, the guys call a cheers and salute to an absolute show favorite who has ...
Episode 98: My Name is Jeff After a bit of a recording hiatus, the guys are back from a super secret location with special guest Mr. Jeff and audience members. Everyone started out with some VERY high gravity beers to welcome them back and get back in the groove of things and quickly got into some fun BS with Johnny trying to irritate Mr. Jim off the rip. Everything stays for the most part beer related and mixed with the usual fair...
Episode 97: Swallow the Mic The BS starting a bit strong this episode, the guys started out by grabbing brewery regular and corn hole aficionado Mr. Mark right off the street (kind of literally...) and forced him to sit down and have some drinks with them. Starting with a beer Johnny finally tried over the weekend that ended up being WAY better than expected! Then they got into some real beer so all was right in the world again. Th...
