Nikt nie ma wątpliwości, że dzieci powinny wychowywać się w naturalnym dla siebie środowisku – rodzinie – otoczone serdeczną opieką i miłością. Nie zawsze jest to jednak możliwe, wtedy z pomocą przychodzą rodzice zastępczy. Rodzicielstwo zastępcze jest bardzo ważną formą opieki nad dziećmi. Przyjęcie najmłodszych do swoich rodzin wymaga szczególnej wrażliwości, tolerancji, zrozumienia potrzeb i problemów dzieci, oddania się roli rodzica oraz zdolności do poświęceń.
