Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jerry Jones joining us right here as he does every
single Tuesday with Sean and RJ on the home of
America's team. Good morning, Jerry. We imagine you're in a
pretty good mood. Sean, RJ. Great this morning, Great beautiful day, Jerry.
Is this the matchup we were all rooting? I know
it sounds crazy, we were all rooting for Philadelphia against Chicago,

(00:21):
not just because of the potential home game in the
NFC Championship, but the Rams matchup. Is this the matchup
you were rooting for well as to this past weekend
when it got down to this, Yes, it's uh, you know,
a real particular It's just not to diminish anything competitive

(00:44):
we are against either the Rams are the Saints. But
it has a lot to do with going to Los Angeles.
I'm excited about that. We've played a an important role
in how that has evolved in all scielist stand Cronky
is absolutely at the top of the list of ownership

(01:05):
in sports. The fact that that great stadium is being
built out there. We are to the extent we're involved
in any other team. We're very involved with our company
called Legends there. That just makes a great fit from
the same point of whether or not we'll be motivated

(01:26):
to play. We would have been as ready, I think
in the New Orleans as we are going to be
in Los Angeles. They're formidable, They've got some great players,
or they loaded up this year with some Bill talent.
But I'm pleased with how we've evolved and how we've
got here, and I think, yes, this gives us the

(01:49):
best chance to advance. Plus just as important, if things
felt right, we'd have an opportunity maybe to play the
championship game here. Of course, we've got to get Los Angeles, Stephen,
think like that. You know, Jerry, you brought up Los
Angeles and the impact that you and the Cowboys had
in getting a team there. But also the footprint that

(02:10):
you guys have in LA with training camp which has
been going on off and on, dating back, you know,
fifty years now out in the Los Angeles area. Do
you expect a little home crowd for you guys, Well,
we've got thousands of fans that are generational. They are
in Los Angeles, and I'll bet I have thirty first

(02:33):
and second cousins out there. Long. I was actually born
there in Inglewood, Los Angeles County, hospital, and so I've
got a great manage of the family that lived there.
When we go to a family union, they said to Jerry,
we don't sound like you. Did you sound a little different?
I said, well, I was raised a little to the

(02:55):
east of you guys. But still it's it's a great feeling,
and uh, we do feel very comfortable one to Los
Angeles and playing Now, that's not to say the Rams
are gonna make the comfortable for us. So yeah, Jerry
Jones joining us right here on one oh five three
of the fan h Jerry. Before we preview the Rams,

(03:15):
let's just kind of recap Seattle. Do you believe in
in clutch? And would you put Dak Prescott in that conversation?
All these numbers and Evans statistics have Dak right up
there with some of the biggest names that have ever
played the position. Do you believe in Dak Prescott being
at his best in clutch moments? Well, you know, I'm

(03:38):
reminded that I was sitting with Michael Irvin right there
in the coliseum three years ago and Romo we'd lost Romo.
M Seattle and Prescott step back there and made a
back shoulder through I think it was the days Briant

(03:58):
and we looked at the each other. I said, my goodness,
what an LS want played by that young quarterback? And
Michael looked at me and said, that's not what I'm
looking at. To look at your bench over there, said,
every player out there is about two feet out on
the field, cheering and living in his very footstep. This

(04:21):
team is really behind this gap. And so that that's
where it began, right there in that Stateum, in my mind,
Dak really showed clutch because that was clutch. That was
a rookie that had had very little notice, was just
working his way into the first stages of the NFL,

(04:42):
the Gawboys, and he steps out there with his time
to guald in the coliseum and nails it. So the
answer is, I think da performs and is at his
best when you've really got anks on the line, Jerry,
what else is really exciting you about the state of

(05:03):
the team and the way they're playing at this point
in the year. It's kind of an overall cowboy assessment
as we get ready for Saturday night of what some
of the things are that have you really excited. Well,
I think we all expect these playoff games to be
a high fit. In other words, they're going to be close.
Usually are defense comes to play at seemingly higher level

(05:28):
and they seem and are more physical. And we've got
a team like that. We've got a very physical team.
We've got one that flash to the ball on defense,
We've got one that is it's a crowd on ourfense.
We're operating physically. Our running game zeek, it's really excludes

(05:52):
physicalness for that not our quarterback, guys back. And but
then we've also put together more comfortable with it. We've
put together and still speed that. We've got another receiving
core and come of late we've hipped up liddle of
the field a little bit. We had missed Jason Whitton dramatically,

(06:17):
but I think we've got some confidence back there over
the last few weeks. I think we're ready to compete.
Jerry Jones joining us here. I want OH five through
the fan. You made some news headlines when you said
on Gbag that this Cowboys offense is very similar to
the Rams offense that you guys can do a lot

(06:37):
of the same things. Are you looking forward to the
opportunity to prove that you were accurate there? Yeah. I
of course, my first perception is the personnel, and they've
got a young quarter about and he's certainly really distinguished
him over the last two seasons. But they've got really

(07:00):
I think my biggest comparison is a running back position.
An outstanding one of the best six played or is
playing at the position in Darling. Well, we are pretty
bad of seek ourselves. I like what we're doing with
our receivers At this particular time. When I made that statement,

(07:21):
we really hadn't had the advent of Cooper really coming home.
But I thought we had the makings of a receiving
group that would get better. So offensively, we do it
a little differently than they do it, but again, when
we may run the ball a little more than the
Rams running. But I certainly on that particular response when

(07:43):
asked Bore that powerhouse Rams offense looks so far out
in front of where the Cowboys are, I looked at
it a little differently and thought that we matched up
a little better than that. Do you think that your
best chance at winning this game is to only slow
the clock down and run the ball and grind it
out and limit possessions for them? Well, I think that

(08:07):
and went away if you could make those long drive scout,
which means if you get several plays in the series,
but when you get out in that reds only got
to go in and get touchdaff as a as a
w you when you look at the culmination of holding
the ball a long time, you've got to make it

(08:30):
count with the score. Of what kills you is to
hold that ball and then don't get the score. There's
no question that generally it's hard for the other team's
score if they don't have the ball. Other words of
score off pieces the tunnel to be tried. Having said that, yes,
I think that we like to hold that ball, but
we've got to You cannot score in the NFL unless

(08:53):
you have some big plays mixed in, and we've when
we have a third of those again, you really have
dialed a recipe for trouble just holding the law. Jerry
and the wildcard round. The Colts allowed seven points Philly fifteen,
Chargers seventeen. You guys twenty two. In this year of

(09:18):
historical offensive football. Do you feel great about those numbers
in the postseason that maybe defense again can win out
with the way you guys play, Well, that's a fair
way to say it when you look at the numbers,
But I just feel good when I look individually after

(09:39):
our personnel don't defense, and I see the way that
our lineback the court has evolved. Those two young linebackers
have stepped up, and Sean Lee is sitting here with
a couple of games under his belt and with ard
to come as we move on in the tournament. Number
sixty seven for US has been a helpful player for one.

(10:01):
Gives us a lot there. But I've got to mention
Woods and I've got to mention college guys on the interior.
Lawrence just almost speaks for himself, who's just really turned
into the stonished football players. And then Gregory is who's
hard to guard down? Who said, who's a guy that

(10:22):
is making a difference out there? And so when I
look at some of those key guys in my front
govern uh, that's what polices me more than the stats. Uh. Now,
you get out here against the queen like the Rams,
and they can leave you a little launting in stats,
But at the end of the day, the right kind
of stand or third down, it's a good third gas statistics,

(10:44):
those are statistics. Those are the kind of stats that
didn't win this game. Fars. This is uh. I don't
care how you come away with this thing, how you
look at this thing. This is just an old fashioned somehow,
some way. Get it done. It's a one tenth of
a point. Get it done. And if you get it
done with fifty yards, get rushing, get but get it done.

(11:06):
That's what a championship game is about. Jerry Jones, right
here on the fan, we know about the horrible injury
to Alan Hearns, had a couple of other guys banged
up in Tavon and Cole Beasley. Well, what how's your
injury situation looking for Saturday, Jerry, Well, first of all,
Hearns is a different comment for me. He's such a

(11:29):
what was so respected on our team, and it was
really a rushing thing for our team and for ablem
to be dealing with that severe on injury. On the
other hand, the great news we got from a surgical
team that he's going to be back, He's going to

(11:50):
be playing and doing so. He resumed his career. Now
I feel good about that. I thought to him yesterday
after the of course, said pout. I lost it when
I looked at and saw the extent of my injury,
I kind of lost it. Mister Jones said, who who?

(12:10):
Who couldn't say that I didn't. We all just played coins,
but positively speaking, but the main thing is we lost
a key plavor for us. He was able to really
give us a lot of flex a receiver position, and
Jerry asked for Cole Bezier, Tavon and other injuries. You're
monitoring how you guys looking. We'll help to see. I'm possive,

(12:35):
very positive about both uh. And that's easy for me
to say, but we'll see. This is the quivalent of
a Wednesday, and so they'll be probably tentative today, but
they'll give some work him. But right now I'm pretty
possive about both those guys playing me again. Do you
expect the role for Sean Lee to be the same
as what we saw last week? I think you might

(12:58):
see more as he was along. He's um uh, we
uh have certainly got some ways that we could use.
I felt that uh might not have been possible. I
did not had the other two playing at the level
they are, and so let's see what happened. But yeah,
I can't help but believe as we looked at a

(13:20):
game like this, Jadan, He's gonna have something to say
about that and death. Jerry. Uh are you inviting Connor
McGregor other LA celebrities. How many of them have hit
you for tickets already? To have some cowboys uh star
power in the crowd. Well, as I mentioned, we have
a lot of fans and a lot of friends, um uh,

(13:44):
but we not the least of which Jamie Fox is
one that we're proud of and proud of this uh
a long term uh fan of being a fan of
the Dallas broboy. How can remember twenty years ago something
years ago when he was sit with me and a

(14:04):
little little bit of spot at the stadium. I'd watched
the field, I'd watched the game going up field, I'd
watched it from the end zone and we had a
little box that was wide and two or three could
said across and Jenny coming in and watch the game
with us. A lot of a lot of talking for
him a very positive way since And we're proud of

(14:25):
a guy like that. But uh, and we'll we'll we'll
move up certainly with our fans and it out there
in that area and the ones that you seeing our
practices there at you'll see probably a lot of those
were in the coliseum. They're sad. Now, Jerry, I was
at the game Saturday night and you guys won. We
know how superstitious you are. Uh. Do you think that

(14:49):
that should lead to you know, maybe you know us
in attendance for this Saturday night in Los Angeles. You
know that sound effect was that was an airplane? That
was your plane. Well, listen, we've got a lot of
ways if we can get up Joe right before we

(15:13):
get out there and take the kickoffs. And I was
sure you we'll be crown every one of them, one
of them is having this good visit with you guys
on the phone. I'm getting my foot this morning. All right, Jerry,
we'll finish with this on a serious note. Uh. And
you had forecasted the future for dak on this show.
It made major news. People are asking about about Jason.

(15:37):
Zeke was in the news that he wants his next
contract after this year. What can you tell us of
anything about the futures of Jason Garrett and Zeke Elliott
as cowboys. Well, I just think just make to the
situation and look how positive it is. Look what we're into.
Look how we're playing. Then if you were in my shoes,

(15:59):
what would you do? I'd probably extend Jason and maybe
pay Zeke. Well, it's a good problem. I learned what
it like. If it's problematic, Jerry has has Jason had
a little bit more offensive input here over the past
few weeks along with dak Oh. I think, Uh, but

(16:25):
who's got into it and how much? Uh, it's really
an offut way to a suw meaningful Uh. Your team
is how your team of coaches and rule said, Nancy's
having cop and UH is lving more or less yours

(16:46):
or whatever that is? Who's the head coach? He's going ding?
That is uh, all right to anything they can to
help us win a football day. And so you really

(17:07):
would like to envision when all of a sudden somebody
comes in, RiPPs, there's a big superman's in the room.
Now let's step over here and do this, do that.
That's not the way it for work. Everybody is working
and trying to be as much core superman as it
can to help us be the rel all right, Jerry,

(17:27):
We'll be waiting on the runway on Saturday or Friday
whenever you guys are leaving and give them hell and
we hope to be celebrating a victory next week. Thanks
as always, go out. Let's be back on here just
like this next week going forward. Thank you, Jerry, you
back
