Speaker 1 (00:11):
Big Box Entertainment prese AM's The Rick Burgers Show with Speedy,
Greg Burgess, Edie Van Adler and Rick Butches.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Thank you, ken Osburn. Here we go a brand new day.
It's a brand new hour. We got a brand new
show for you, a lot to do as we move forward.
And here are the numbers eight eight eights the number
six Big Box. You can also text us at that
exact same line. That's eight eight eight six two four

(00:47):
four eight six nine and a lot of you are
already texting. And I'm glad that you are here with
us for another day. As you heard, everyone is here. Speedy.
We'll be leaving us a little early today. We'll talk
a little bit about that on the program. But we
got the update some stories, some from yesterday. There's some
updates on that today. Let me run a couple of

(01:08):
items for you. Tonight, Hampton, Arkansas First Baptist Church, Brian
Gunn will be there a man Church kickoff. That means
this will be the first gathering of the men of
the church and the community and then we'll plug them
into a forty week curriculum. So if you want to
be there tonight, go to the Manchurch Dot com Ladies. Tomorrow,

(01:29):
Sherry Burgess, my beautiful bride is going to be at
the Ladies brunch in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. That'll be at University
Church of Christ. And I got word yesterday that there
are still some seats available, so that's good. So if
you want to go for that brunch it's ten am
to noon. All you have to do is show up

(01:50):
at the University Church of Christ. They'll have tickets to
they're full, or you can go ahead and get them
now by using the link that you can see on
Sherry social media or and I retweeted that or re
exed or reposted whatever it's called. Now you can see that,
or just go to Burgessmanistries dot com under upcoming events.
And then also tomorrow night at the Station Church in

(02:12):
Birmingham there'll be another Man Church kicking off, Gil McKee
speaking there. So just wanted to pass those along to
you for the weekend. Enjoy that. So fellas, we got
a lot to unpack. I know that probably the biggest
story as far as news is concerned, is still the
ongoing UH investigation about the horrible crash yesterday involving American

(02:35):
airlines in a military helicopter. UH. And you know the
we'll have some of it today on our clips. The
president was really pulling zero punches yesterday afterward and nice shocking. Well,
he had a press conference and he seems to and
maybe this will be confirmed. It seems that others are

(02:56):
agreeing he I mean, I was about to say between
the lines. I don't think he even had to read
between the lines. It's just what he was saying is
that he felt the error will be discovered and confirmed
from the air traffic controller and that he made clear
yesterday he thinks that the standard UH for air traffic

(03:18):
controllers has been lowered.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
UH.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
And he says this was the concern for doing that,
that this this if there's if there's a lot of
places as we heard you you rememver heard people say this.
I've heard this joke before. If you're stepping onto an airplane,
do you want the pilot to be a d I
hire or do you want the pilot to be the
best in their industry that that passed the highest standards.

(03:42):
Because people's lives are on the line. And so yeah,
now I'm not saying that that's what's going to happen.
I'm simply saying that's what I took away from the
press conference yesterday, that that's what he thinks happened.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
And now others are saying they also believe that to
be true too, as we continue to get information. So
I won't any further than that, But that is that accurate?
That that's kind of where that's speculation right now.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Yeah, yeah, I think it was a you know, one
one expert that I was listening to said a lot
of people think it was just all it was just
one problem that caught No, he said that there's a
lot of problems that lead up to this, you know,
because we talked yesterday to super Time about the formative
pilot and you know, and this, that and the other.

(04:29):
But it's leading back to I believe one of the
air traffic controllers might have left the shift early because
it was a slow night or something of that nature,
which means that one air traffic controller was doing.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
A couple of what normally two people do and was
and you know, that may not have anything to do,
may not, I don't know, but maybe a fact wouldn't
you know, it didn't have factor into the tragedy.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Right, I know, both black boxes have been recovered and
the audio from air traffic controllers being analyzed, and they're
saying what might have led to it is there was
a little bit of vagueness from the air traffic controller,
maybe could have been a little bit more detailed, which
added to the problem. Not the only problem, but yes, Rick,
you're right, well, it sounds like a topic of conversation

(05:18):
that the experts are saying.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
If you missed the latter part of the show yesterday,
it's in the archive super time. The engineer who was
also a pilot, he to me, gave the most valuable
information about the airport and how they land these planes
with the military maneuvers and training going on. And I
thought that was the most eye opening in what I've
done today, and we talked about before the show starts.

(05:42):
I think we're all comfortable with this. Is that what
Tom told us yesterday, If you take that and you
overlay it with the air traffic controller, was you know,
doing a job that normally more than one do, or
just was confusing in their instruction. If you look at
what Tom was telling us about runway one versus being

(06:02):
diverted to runway thirty three, that relationship with the military
helicopters that have that are always doing stuff on the Potomac.
If that wasn't communicated clearly to everybody involved, it's almost
like you take those two and put it together and
there's your problem. So we'll see if that solidifies itself.

(06:23):
But it sure it seems to be on that path.
So so anyway, we'll talk about that. And you hear
some of what the President said now he went on
the full blown it was his point was valid. I mean,
if you're going to worry about quotas and you know
and all that air traffic controller is not the place

(06:44):
to do that. You got to have the best of
the best of the best right there. Yeah, yeah, you do.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
And they were talking about the FAA and understaffing, which
most federal agencies are not understaffed, but they are. So
I think it's just like we talked about, this is
probably going to be one of the most investigated crashes
in the history of you know, aviation, they're saying, and

(07:10):
it doesn't just stop with the pilots and all that
goes all the way through air traffic control and everything.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Well, I'm concerned. It's kind of what RFK Junior was
saying about the health of America physically that you know,
even our military has standards physically that one must meet,
and they're having a hard time finding people that can
meet that standard. I think air traffic controlled the standard
there is so high. The reason why we may hear

(07:37):
the term understaffed is that it's so difficult that people
aren't willing to take on that difficult task, and it's
probably hard to find people that are qualified to do
it or desired to be qualified.

Speaker 5 (07:49):
To do it.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
And I heard today that it takes two to three
years to fully train an air traffic controller. I mean,
it's not something you go.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
To class for a mind Yeah, and well, and I
don't know that this is whether this was hyperbole or
where the President got this yesterday, but I heard it
clearly that he said that they've had studies that the
life span of air traffic controllers is shorter than a
normal person because of all the pressure. I don't know
where he got that, but he absolutely said it. So

(08:19):
that if that's true, you, I mean, because there was
a time where people wanted to to they took pride
in doing difficult things and meeting the meeting the standard.
I don't know that we have a lot of that anymore.
We have some of that, but we don't not in
a mass, not across the population like at one time.
One time it was easy to find people that were saying, oh,

(08:39):
something's hard, I'll do it. Now those people are fewer
and fewer.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Yeah, and now one thing I did here too is
that you know, there was some finger pointing to the
three soldiers in the black Hawk, but it's come out
now that they were very experienced, that you know soldiers.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
It was a training.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Exercise, but it wasn't like, oh, this is the first
time they were They were very experienced, and so it
just a lot of it just it's like within how
could something like this happen?

Speaker 2 (09:06):
And I think it's just a number.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Of issues and the air traffic controller, I think everybody's
pointing back to that person saying that the instructions weren't clear.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
But we'll see. So, uh, there's kind of where that
is as we start this show, and if we get
more information on that, obviously we'll share that too. We'll
be back. The Rick Burgess Show continues right after this.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. The people who don't
like this show, you wouldn't like anyway the Rick Burgess show.

Speaker 6 (09:57):
Yeah, I mean.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
They take the joy out of the room. Right. So
here we go. Uh, we got a lot to do
going forward, now I do. I will say this. If
you want to have peace of mind, security is a
big part of that. I love this system. You think
campouts ain't secure? Simply saved baby, simply save dot com
slash big box.

Speaker 7 (10:21):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
And if you are ready and maybe look, just because
you have a security system, is it ancient? Huh? Has
it got a little dust? Don't it a little ancient?
Do you have live guard monitoring going on? Do you
have people interacting and you know, somebody actually had a
great idea and I'm going to send this to simply
safe on the text option yesterday, you know where so

(10:42):
much information comes and they said that we need to
talk to simply safe. And on the live guard protection
they use Greg's moment Entangled Web or was it wasn't
that the name of that movie at the classic Yeah? Yeah,
And when you say, you know, you get that guy
stealing your truck, and we use that comment and this
liveguard just shoots that out every time an intruder comes

(11:04):
on the property. Wouldn't that be funny, that would be
an excellent but let me tell you simply say dot
com slash bill, wouldn't that be wonderful slash Big Vox,
and that's gonna get you fifty percent off right now.
The live guard monitoring, they interact with an intruder that
comes on the property before they ever break in. They

(11:26):
also can see if a fire breaks out, carbon monoxide poisoning,
a flood, somebody's having a medical emergency and there's no
one there with them, they can help. It really is
outstanding technology and you get the first month free if
you go to simply safe dot Com slash Big Box,
get a monitoring plan, and then your system will be
fifty percent off, no long term contracts, no hidden fees,

(11:50):
and of course you also can install it yourself, so
you're not sitting around waiting on someone. If you need
some help, they'll help you too. They use the AI
powered cameras and it really is the modern day technology
and the ultimate security with simply safe dot Com slash
Big Vox. Okay, so we were talking about the show

(12:13):
today and we will be without Calvin Speedy Wilburn at
some point today because I believe you're taking on what
every husband and every father. You know, we have these
things that always give us a bit of anks. Of course,
sitting in the number one slot family portraits. That's not

(12:35):
what he's doing today. That's that's in the number one slot.
You know, wife hosting major event involving family or friends. Greg,
you don't want that, Greg, You lived that. As a
matter of fact, You're still celebrating Christmas because of it.
What Greg, thank you Father Christmas. But then this one's

(12:56):
in the it's a top tenor and it is. It
is the family road trip. We were trying to get
our wives. And you know, if you still have children
at home, your children are any family members from point
A to point B. Now, trying to get your family
to go watch a ballgame involving a family member, if
it's local, there's enough drama with that. But when you're

(13:20):
trying to get from Sweet Home, Alabama to Central Florida,
it's tough. It's tough. It's just it's life. But it's tough.
Orlando here we come.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
Yeah, And to be like specific, it's Saint Augustine.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Which is what I hear is gorgeous, but of course
it doesn't feel gorgeous right now. And that is traveling
pants on it does I do? And I made the mistake.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
I told Greg, I said, I don't know that I've
ever wore sweats to the show, but I'm not gonna
wear jeans for and I guess you could run to
the office and change maybe before he cares. But but
he's that on his travel then pans.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
He don't want swampy. He got.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
It's about two or three hours into the trip, you're
like start moving around a bit, all right.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
So so on a road trip, what are you done?
How far in? Uh? After four it's it's yeah.

Speaker 8 (14:21):
You know, I got my traveling in pass. Don't want
to swamp me? Right wow.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
So uh, it was a weird situation because you know,
they weren't bragging, it's just what happened. But some of
the some of the couples, they flew, uh, but Saint Augustine.
You can either fly into like Jacksonville, you can fly
into Daytona. I mean you can be way off and
flying to Orlando and then rent a car and drive in.

(14:51):
But our situation, you know, with the new show just
starting whatever, you just don't want to be off. Even
though we only hear half a day to day. It's like,
you know, the day I started looking at flights and
I'm like, well, maybe we could catch a late morning
go land, rent a car, drive down.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
From Jack's Little Stuff.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
But then you start adding up that layover in Atlanta,
what could happen with the airlines? You're one delay from
from missing everything, And so it was about thirty minutes
to forty five of about the same amount of time.
Once you add up sure flying landing, get written a card.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
You got to factor all that in.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
And and although you know you're you're an interstate issue
away from stopping there too, it's just some about being
more control in control of things, and we just decided
it would just be better if we drove. And so
when I leave, we uh, we have about thirty minutes
of playtime to be there by first pitch, and uah,

(15:52):
baseball is playing down at is it?

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Flagler? I blink you University, I forget you. Yeah, yeah,
I believe that's what it is. That's an easy sign.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
Yeah, yeah, it's a it's not hard to recruit there,
Yeah Flagler.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Uh, well I got some chance against them if I'm
the opponent. Yeah, okay, it's a nail in that. Yeah,
I know, but if you're doing a chant, you can. Oh,
it's an easy chance. What they do when they change
the name of the university, they said, now before you
say anything else, is insane, old sting Florida.

Speaker 4 (16:22):
Okay, yeah, uh and uh, And there's a lot that
comes with it. But and I don't know how your
truckers do it.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
I don't know. Y'all look at eight hours and probably
laugh at it.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
They do, you know, for those of us that don't
do that, you know, And I'll have to I'll have
to chill and not talk out loud as much because
left lane drivers are gonna drive me crazy.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
I don't know what. I don't know what it is about, y'all.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
Goodness, you cause most of the problems because everybody starts
panicing trying to get around you.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Yeah. Well, what I would say to the trucker it
would be like me saying that I don't like to
run a long way in a marathon er saying, what's
a big deal. I'm not a marathoner. Yeah, you know,
I'm not a truck driver. So so that is a
long way from me. I will say in my drivet,
Work's not a long drive. Hour twenty minutes. But it
has made me now be able to tolerate being in

(17:08):
a car more. Sure, I bet it does better. Yeah,
like I'm going on again after four, I start getting
in after five. Now as far as total trip, if
I look at total trip and it's over more than six,
I'm not into that now. I mean you have to
you can't. But that's when I go, Okay, I much
to focus. Yeah, and you know when tom My wife
would say that my mind is forty five minutes. Yeah,

(17:30):
that one way to get on down the road.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
When when Tyler played at jack State and they were
in the OVC, you know, you had to play the
Ohio Ohio Valley Conference teams and so you were looking
at a lot of five hours. But something about dealing
with five five and a half I could handle. Oh yeah,
you get about and it's I'm not too sure, but yesterday,
when's the last time you dropped a dog off in
the drive through UH?

Speaker 2 (17:53):
And that'd been never? Haven't better?

Speaker 3 (17:55):
I like it?

Speaker 2 (17:56):
Yeah, it sounds pretty.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
Cool drop Cuddy off at the at the border, UH?
And so they are not the border. Southern Border makes
a boarding facility in UH Dallas. His his roommate.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Jason because it's Jayson's roommates dogs. So you're dealing with
Jason's roommates dog. Yeah, and so they're all they're in
a big run together and they have each other all
they get to go.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
For an extra ten dollars, they'll take them out and
let them play every day.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
Yeah, you got to pay a ten dollars. They just
laying there on my blanket. For ten dollars a.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
Day, you can have dog daycare and they can go
run out around.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
And play with the other dogs. So if you don't
pay that, they just leave it locked in the great
I guess I don't know. I bet they didn't get
a ten out of that one. Oh you know, I'm in.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
But she calls Ben Peters pay for his dog to
be in So what cud are you gonna stay in
the cage?

Speaker 1 (18:43):
This is the Rick Burgess Show only in America. Could
these four men do this for a living? God? Bless America?
This He's still but you sho.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Thank you for being with us. As of Monday, the
first crew will come in to see The Rick Burgess
Show Live with Spinney Dragon Adler. They'll be in the
Vox seats just like they like it, and so we
are totally booked for February and March. Be paying attention

(19:30):
late March and then April will come available. But we
look forward to seeing those. You will be the first
ones to come in for the new show. See see
the new design here in the studio looking good. It
was funny to get people who were taking steel shots yesterday.
This is what I love about what we do though.
They were sending her steel shots and John John Thomas yesterday.

(19:52):
Of course he's funny. He's got a great sense of humor.
Did Terry get her message?

Speaker 4 (19:56):
Yes, and she really enjoyed that funny She said, well,
oh I didn't wasn't expecting that one comment.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
By the way, people disagree with John Man. But John
John asked me about that. But you know, we we
we we haven't had a lot of guests in studio,
but we always had planned that if you're in the
guest mic, you're you're basically sitting over here in the
big boy guest mic. And so but they said, when
he took a turn to start talking about some of
the tragedies in South Africa that they're helping with, and

(20:24):
there's just a shot a big boy behind him, look
on his face. John's like we're talking about dire poverty.
It looks like looking at John John makes him look bigger. Sure,
but he's leaning in. It looks just like he's so
for you to do us every day Greer. Uh So,

(20:48):
So anyway, I want to ask this question though going out,
and there was a little discussion that broke out when
we went to the break. I have to ask it.
These two right here, and I'm pointing at Speedy and
Greg that just you talk about we are all quirky people. Okay.
So we were talking about doggie daycare, okay, And of
course Greg's first thought about doggie daycare is not what

(21:10):
a convenient service people have decided to offer. His first
thought is what a racket? Okay?

Speaker 5 (21:15):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (21:16):
And and I and I charge you to let the
dog go play? First of all, why are you gonna
charge me? So if I don't pay it, he stays
in a box the whole time? Well, yeah, and define play? Right?
Does that mean he's gonna run and play with toys?

Speaker 5 (21:31):
Is he?

Speaker 9 (21:32):
What?

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Are you just letting them out to take a dump?
Does that count? Greg? It probably doesn't. But but then Speedy,
being being I know, you say you're frugal. Yeah, I
say cheap. Speedy wants proof that the ten dollars he
paid made a difference. I want to see you what
what did what did ten dollars? To your point, Greg,
what did ten dollars get me out? Are you taking

(21:52):
that ten? I gotta have some bruise? How long? I
want to say, dude? I mean, I like, I want
cutting back in the car. Tell me graduate yeah, yeah, video,
give me some video. Because cut you can't talk. He
can't rat on them. They can't get in the car
and say, let me just tell you something. Whatever you
pay for that play day was a racket. I don't

(22:13):
know why the dogs.

Speaker 5 (22:19):
I knew it.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
I knew it all so, and I know why they
charge now because they have to hire people to watch
over the dogs, I guess, and and be of course
the monitor the dog you monitor, I guess. But I
know that some places they have like webcams where you
can log in and see the cam and see the dogs.
But so you know, we ran, we ran the list

(22:42):
of things and and it hurt. But I want cut
it to be all right, you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (22:46):
But you know, cutting a dog five more will actually
give him some more. I've watched I've watched dogs all
my life. They're very resist I have to remind tell
you that a lot.

Speaker 4 (22:59):
You know, he's dog, he's not human, right, But anyway,
so we go through the list. All right, here's what's
going to cost a boredom. Of course he needs this.
This guy's he's up for his board to tell I
gotta have that again, you know. So you start adding
all that up.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
Uh. And now now he's staying with Dallas, right, that's
the other dog. Yeah. Yeah, we're gonna have a big
run there. And yeah they're rooming together. Yeah yeah. And
they're literal room dogs.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
Now that now, Now, now they got the doggy daycare
for the day, I'm like, did they Yeah?

Speaker 2 (23:30):
That Now that's ten dollars. That's extra ten dollars a day.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
And that's when they you know, they go out during
the day and they play and run around and all
this kind of stuff. I'm like, well, if you don't
pay the y, I guess I guess so. And so
I'm like, okay, well I guess so. So I settle
up and they're like, okay, if you'll pull up a
little bit.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
So and so is gonna walk around and grab Cuddy.

Speaker 5 (23:50):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (23:50):
And this was a drive think of a drive through,
really is what it is. And so they come out
the side door and they get Cuddy and they're like,
all right, see you later, and I'm like bye. And
so I'm following the arrows and and it takes you
around the building and then on the other side of
the building, all of a sudden, he just opens up
and you see where doggy daycare happens, and there's everywhere.
There's probably twenty dogs just running everywhere around the corner

(24:12):
and there's just one dog on top of the other one.

Speaker 10 (24:14):
Just the dog that said only receiving is looking at
me like, could somebody have.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
Now Cuddy? You know, he goes about eighty five pounds.
So I don't think.

Speaker 11 (24:37):
Or nothing.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
This was not killing say that this was just a dog.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
This was just a dog. What I'm saying is I
don't know how to well, I guess it's we're too
late now are we talking about? This is a dog
that was showing dominance? Or is this is there a
dog that somebody thought was spade that wasn't.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Sometimes it doesn't matter, it's that and I'm just you know,
sometimes it dog just gets up and does it, and
it's like, buddy, that you're not doing anything.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
You know, my god.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
It was so bad, and the doggy monitor was going,
you know whatever, dogs, the dog like, I'm gonna say, Larry.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Larry stopped that, Larry, I want a dog named Larry Larry. Yep.
I did this with the horn went man, look you
know what happened? Then then the dog and then the
dogs are said whatever it costs, we're in for twenty

(25:38):
dollars time. If he said, what's that right there? Now
that's the twenty dogs question.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
For an extra five, I'm like, so this is where
Cuddy will be running around.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
Wow. When you let cutting out of the card, he
look at you, like where you going?

Speaker 4 (25:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (25:52):
He was like, what's up? And I said, hey, I
don't know this.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
When he his ears go out and goes like, hey,
Dallas is in there?

Speaker 2 (25:59):
Sure your boy, your buddies, I don't know what you're
talking about. Yeah. Yeah, but dogs, it's funny too.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
And they get to rest on the two of them
and and it sounds it looks like they're fighting, but
they're not. I'm like, so they'll be out there. Hey,
I couldn't get don't you kind of.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
Laughing, but I understood what you're all saying. So I'm
paying for all these things. How about this, I don't
even really have proof of evening bathe the dog? Can
you at least wrote a video? What do you mean
by play? I've watched dogs once they reach a certain age,
they sleep most of the day. I think they're hassled
by Yeah, I agree. Yeah, you waking me up again.

(26:37):
I'm in here sleeping like I like it. Now we
feeding him? Or did you bring food? Oh gosh, I'm like,
well this is what you better bring your own.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
The Rick burgess him. He was into low hassle. So
now what I'm gonna do? Tote around food if they
don't like I was just thinking about you. You think I
ever brought food? They asked, what kind of Oh no, no,
not at all. So it's it's I told Terry what
is probably gonna hit and it's, uh M, a little business. Yeah, look, dog,
Adam at least three bills.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
I know the fact. But as we said this week
on a prior show, okay, y'all y'all that do all this,
God bless you and thank you for doing it. And
it's a great and We're glad to know y'all are there.
But if y'all had tried to pull this off and
think this was a good business plan in the seventies,
you would have all gone broke. Yeah, today you're booming.

(27:26):
You're booming. Our parents would have thought y'all had lost
your mind. And and but but we all, you know,
we're all guilted into doing it now. So you've done
a good job. Yeah, yeah, y'all won. Like we said yesterday,
our parents would just filled the bowl up and said,
we'll see when we get back.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
So, just a lot of folks like, what about y'all's dogs, Well,
this is it's just gosh, it's so complicated. So so
Cuddy is the college dog. He comes home, that's a
good question. And he's not there every day. Well, we
have a setup with our dogs with pet stop and
the underground fence and stuff, and so they're trained, they
have the seventies and stuff.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
Huh, you're living in the seventies. Yeah, except for.

Speaker 4 (28:04):
The stalls, right, And and so I'm like, you know
that Reese is not does not have to work a
full weekend.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
He's going to be home.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
Terry's parents live around the corner. They're gonna be in
and out. My neighbors are going to watch them, so
they're fine. Said, we can't let Cuddy out and just
let him go because he's not He didn't have the
callers because he comes and goes.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
He's not here all the time.

Speaker 4 (28:25):
But then you know, then you got Jay c They
left Wednesday, they're not coming back till Sunday night, and
they're traveling, so you got to what do you do
thet They got a mid week next week, and so
I'll just take Cutty back to the mid week and
then he's got him back.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
No, got to get him again next road. Let me
let me tell you all this is about all of
this is about that life truth that really what happened
is our kids want to have the pets, but then
they end up being hours. Yeah, that's exactly how. That's
exactly it. Chloe the dog, the Chaa that Lisa had forever.
It originally was Chandlers though of course was but that

(29:01):
didn't last long. No, So, and I blame Jc's roommate
for all this.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
He's the one that found the rescue center I think
it was Indicator, and took JC with him and they
found they found they found the puppies there, and what.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
Are you gonna do? I mean, this isn't the only
road game. Are you gonna have to do this every time?

Speaker 4 (29:20):
Normally it's about I don't know, twice the season at least.
Then we have to do this because a lot of
times they like maybe guys that don't travel, some freshmen
or you know, a girlfriend or two.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
I will keep on, but this one's a little different.
We'll be right back.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
All right. So I want you to go to Angel
dot com slash Rick, and I want you to see
this movie, Brave the Dark. If you're like me, I
struggled to find movies that are worth watching these days.
But let me tell you, Angel Studios have been cranking
out some great movies and you're gonna love Brave the Dark.
The story is it asked the question how far will
a teacher go to save a kid on the brink
of losing everything? You know, the kid's trouble, he's outed

(30:05):
a tough background. You know, people have tried to help him.
There's been some issues, and you know a lot of
times somebody said, hey, this guy, this person, you're trying
to help. They can't be helped. But this teacher says,
I just see potential in this young man and I'm
not giving up on him, no matter how many obstacles
I have to go through. And it really is a
very moving story and you can see it from both sides.

(30:27):
Have you ever had somebody you didn't give up on?
Or have you ever been the person that people didn't
give up on? You? Look at from me the way.
It really is a good movie. You'll love that. So
go right now to angel dot com slash rick. That's
Angel dot com slash rick and enjoy the movie Brave
the Dark.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
They are the uncles your parents warned you about the rick.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
Yeah, but where the fine uncles are? Right right here
we go. We're back speedy. You'll be taking a road
trip today to go watch one of his sons play
a little ball. Greg Adler and I will. We will
finish the journey. But so thank you for your comments.

(31:25):
We're getting on the text line, some good ones, by
the way. So also with somebody asking and this is
gonna get a this is gonna get a little bit sensitive,
let me say something before I say this. This isn't
about what I was at bedtime last night was no.
I'd like to talk about that, but you're gonna have

(31:46):
to give me the green line on that.

Speaker 5 (31:47):
I will.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
I won't force that, Okay, so I won't. I know
that you are doing a very responsible dad thing. We
should support our kids. Let's go see them when they
play if we can. Let's take road trips definitely. Now
I don't know who the person was it started saying
that baseball should be played in January.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Oh boy, I don't know who.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
This person is and how that started. And probably it
would be preferred if you baseball people. This is how
we wanted it designed. And I thought this was a
deal we'd made that we get to finish deer season
before y'all start playing baseball. I thought that was our arrangement.
It's the reason why Men's Ministry floods into February is

(32:31):
because we all know it's after football and deer season,
but before baseball and Turkey season starts. We all know this,
and now people are starting to get over in the
fringe borders and getting over into areas they don't belong.
So this has put you in a position where you're
doing the right thing, no question about that. But Greg
and I are going Honting.

Speaker 4 (32:51):
You don't think I know and you ain't and you
ain't and y'all talk about it like openly and the
excitement around it, and I would be in the car
for eight hours and I know, and you're gonna text
new they're moving?

Speaker 2 (33:05):
Would you see? Did you see that? Look at that one?
That's boardline right there? Honey? What are you doing? Nothing?
Do you want to look at? Do you want to
be on campus campus group chat? Yes?

Speaker 3 (33:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Because I just want to lift through y'all. Adam, I'm
sorry you can't go this weekend either, buddy, but it's
all right. Yeah, I'll be in Hope you feel better too, buddy,
you know so much.

Speaker 11 (33:27):
But yeah, include me on the group chat. I want
to know if you're seeing anything.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
So don't you? Yeah too. Here's the thing, though, this
group chat is only going to have two people in it,
so it's not a lot of action, especially with you
on it. Would Tator like to be in it since
he can't go either, And I've become him a real
hard time about that, and so are you? Yeah, he
probably does not.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
I really think you just keep that same group, go
back to it, and yeah, why yeah, I probably need
to be looking at j C play versus that, but
I'll look.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
After that drive. I would watch every pitch. So you
know what has come down to just me and baby
brother at campus sell. Except I know how y'all feel,
Baby brother at the camp Passe. We decided not to
do any cooking or anything. I think we're just gonna
I was even went there yesterday and I thought, I'm
not stalking all this for just the afternoon.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
In the morning, you told Gary down the road because
he'll be showing up nothing to cook.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
Now here's the proach is not a bad thing. No,
here's here's the problem. I just got a text, Hey,
y'all going to camp pass this weekend, and I sent
back Greg and I are going, don't don't leave us alone.
Don't do any dranking.

Speaker 4 (34:30):
Yeah, that's right, because now that y'all said guns and
all that, you know he was he was never in it.
Still was never in it. But there was a boundary,
you know what I mean to where at least.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
At least he had to think for a half a second. Yeah,
and you know, you know what he's already said. And
this is how I get you. I ain't gonna be
doing nothing. I'm down here lake Mitchell and this thing
like you can't drive like Mitch, like fall.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
Don't forget he thought Gardendale was too far of a drive.
That's true from where he is. Oh yeah, it's about
an hour and fifteen minutes.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
When he had it back home, he said that message out,
I ain't coming back to far of a drug. Gary,
No one. Gary's everything he does he just does. Frankly,
as a matter of fact, he has no regard for
people's feeling. Now you know what this is? This, This
is the most you're gonna get out of Gary.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Gary.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
Did you got you came to conference?

Speaker 9 (35:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (35:23):
Min is there Friday? Or I had to head back.
How'd you like? It's hot? Okay, buddy? We got people
claiming out it was you know, a weekend. It changed
your life. But I mean he's hot. Now.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
What he could do is he could make a salad
for y'all, big ball of salad, put in the refrigerator.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
Y'all pull it out from time to sad. I don't
this thing with Gary and and and Sack, bitch, I don't.
I don't understand it. Like I was there yesterday trying
to get red wingo and I went down and had
a little afternoon hunt yesterday. Yeah, because you know, I
had to go down there and check on things, and
and I look in the refrigerator because I'm like, well
let me get into here, and everything's outdated. I need

(36:01):
to throw away, you know, because we had a big
run back in December. And you've seen that in h
Tales from the camp House episode one and two. And
so I look how much salad did Gary think we
were gonna eat? There were no exaggeration. He had five

(36:22):
full bottles of dressing dressings. Really, what does he think
are we having? You know how women don't have a
salad class? You ever heard women do that? Is your wife?
Ever heard that? Where are you going? Baby? I got
to go to that thing. We're having a salad supper? Well, well,
you know everybody brings a salad, different kind of sound,
that's it. And I'm like, what salads aside? I mean,

(36:44):
I've already been set enough about when people have coffee
and dessert only. Yeah, but the it's get here. But
but see how much how much dressing do you think
he thought we needed? You know, if you're if it's
at campus and you just said, I mean you know,
a nice if you decide, if you decide to do that,

(37:05):
that's one bottle of ranch. Yeah, he had like three
different kinds, five bottles? How many? How many? How much
dressing did he think a bunch of ra could have covered?
My goodness, we had a rib. Boy, it was as
big as a hub cap. I mean, yeah, but look
at the sidlight. But you do want you want to
get a little satell with it. And I'm like, you know,

(37:27):
and then he goes and just gets that old cheap iceberg,
you know, in a in a bag and then you
know what I found in there. I don't know what
he meant, but these there's a whole thing of mushrooms
in here. Just do it in here. I think I
remember him saying he forgot to do the mushrooms. Okay,
I've got oh, but the dressing is what I didn't get.
How much dressing did this man think and cover everybody? Yeah? Yeah,

(37:50):
that's pretty Yeah, that's the standaroy, even it's not your favorite,
you'll go out. Yeah. And of course, you know, if
i'd been speedy, I'd have gone back to the grocery
list and see if I was charged for all this?
Did you do all that put that on, you know,
because he I mean, you know, it's I get, I
get the stuff, and Gary brings some stuff himself. I
brought the steaks and all that. Of course, that's thank
you New York butcher Shop. Yeah, hello, game changer boy.

(38:13):
That was a big old rabbay, wasn't it. Yes, thank
you for well, because when you're with the women, you're
always eating file AT's, and I think when the men
get together, let's get the ribbys out of let's get
but anyway, Gary knows. Hey, well y'all have good weekend.
I'll be down here. Let Mitchell. What's your camp house
breakfast plan? You know, I think that I could, you know,

(38:35):
I could make enough just for the you know, and
Brody may come for the morning hunt. Maybe maybe, but uh,
I don't think there's a high probability of that, So
I don't know. We might just go, you know, grab something.
It's a pretty good breakfast just up the road. Yeah, yes, yes,
you know. Yeah, yeah, that's when you when you do
all this, and it's fun when there's a bunch of us,

(38:56):
but there's just a couple of us. I think we're
trying to minimize how much mess we make. That's it
the way.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
Yeah, yeah, but you can grab some eggs and some
and then he's something about cooking being hungry that makes
it even better too.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
No, you're right late, I will say I may do
it just because I love cooking campus b Yeah, just
a little smaller version of it. Well, Jacon, don't till
one o'clock on Saturday local times the twelfth Central. So
I need all the information Saturday morning. Are you you
still want to stay in the group text two? Yes, absolutely, okay,
please all right, top of the army.

Speaker 1 (39:29):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 12 (39:43):
Listen up.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
You know what we say. You gotta find.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
The voice of reason in an unreasonable world. The Rick
Burchase Show.

Speaker 2 (40:02):
Yeah, needed now more than ever. People have just become
completely unreached from the cool can't read well them, but
where are the voice of reason? We're broadcasting from the
real world, pushing back on the fake world, and also
included in math the return to a sense of humor.

(40:23):
All right, So the game's all here, speedy, Greg Adler,
and we're glad that you are here. As we unpack
another I will remember you miss any of the show.
You always go back and tetch the daily archives available
on our podcast channel or our YouTube channel Best of
IUR for Bladi's TV subscribers. A couple of things you

(40:44):
might need to know, ladies, if you are listening and
you are in and around the Tuscaloosa area, or you
can get there with no problem. My wife Sherry speaking
tomorrow ten am to noon. Some of you been asking
about that. Sherry checked on that yesterday and they are
still going to take tickets at the door. They do
have some seats still available. So if you want to

(41:05):
be there for that brunch and enjoy that time with Sherry,
you're in for a blessing. You can go ahead and
get that done by going to the link there at
Burgessministries dot com. I think Sherry's got it on her
ex account two and Instagram, or you can just get
it at the door tomorrow, So ten am till noon
at the University Church of Christ Women's event. Sherry's speaking tomorrow. Okay,

(41:29):
so as we start this hour, we did talk a
little bit last hour, the update on where we are
on what happened happened with the horrible crash yesterday. So
here is Trump and we all heard this at his
press conference and he began to lay out that he
really felt that this is a bad result from bad

(41:53):
decisions on DEI hirings, especially in a place as important
and difficult as air traffic controllers. He's going to be
questioned by the press on why he thinks that is
the conclusion, and here he is bank. It's all under investigs.
I understand that. That's why I'm trying to figure.

Speaker 13 (42:14):
Out how you can come to the conclusion right now
that diversity had something to do with this crash, because
they have common sense, okay, and unfortunately a lot of
people don't.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
We want brilliant people doing this.

Speaker 13 (42:28):
This is a major chess game at the highest level
when you have sixty planes coming in during a short
period of time in the role, coming in different directions,
and you're dealing with very high level computer computer work
and very complex computers. And one of the other things
I will tell you is that the systems that were built.

(42:49):
I was going to rebuild the entire system, and then
we had an election that didn't turn out the way
it should have. But they didn't build the systems properly.
They spent a lot of money renovating a system, spending
much more money than they would have spent if they
bought a new system for air traffic control, as meaning
the computerized systems. There are certain companies that do a

(43:10):
very good job. They didn't use those companies. They use
companies that should not have been doing it.

Speaker 2 (43:16):
Wow. So he talked yesterday, and obviously we were not
going to run the entire thing because it was lengthy.
But he was speaking yesterday, which is why this reporter
asked him this like he had been briefed and in
his opinion, from what I guess he has seen and heard,
we're going to find that the air traffic controller is

(43:37):
who failed everybody here. And he thinks that's because when
he was there in twenty sixteen, he said, I took
the standards way up, and then when the Biden administration
came in, they took the standards back down and started
a bunch of diversity and DEI approach to the hirings.

(43:58):
And he said, and we'll see that that led to
people being put in jobs they couldn't handle m And
so then then when you heard the reporter, well, if
the investigation is still going, how can you possibly come
to that conclusion? He says, because I have common sense,
because I see the formula, so it's easy to kind
of figure out what the sum of that would be.

(44:21):
I guess, I guess, or he seeing something he already knows, right,
So there you go.

Speaker 3 (44:26):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (44:26):
And also Pete Hegseth is going to weigh in on this.
This is courtesy of Fox News, and I do agree
with him on this because this this is an incorrect
statement concerning military and it's along the same lines about
the ultimate goal being diversity not excellent. So here is
here's heg Seth talking about this.

Speaker 4 (44:48):
What's happening with DEEI, how's that going at the Defense Department?

Speaker 14 (44:51):
Well, DEI is not going well at the Defense Department
because it's dead. We will, as the President said in
his inaugural we will be marri based and color blind.

Speaker 11 (45:01):
And that is the case of the Defense Department.

Speaker 14 (45:03):
DEI is going to be ripped out, root and branch
because we want everyone treated equally with high standards and
held accountable with war fighting lethality and readiness front, et cetera.

Speaker 11 (45:14):
We don't have time for emphasizing differences.

Speaker 5 (45:17):
Jesse.

Speaker 14 (45:17):
One of the dumbest phrases in military history is our
diversity is our strength. Our diversity is not our strength.
Our unity and our shared purpose is our strength. And
the Pentagon is excited to get back to that core mission.
It's happening rapidly. The services are responding and those that
don't want to respond can work somewhere else. So diversity,

(45:38):
equity inclusion will not be a part of the Defense Department.

Speaker 2 (45:41):
Not a minute lot here here, boom, and America sleeps
better hearing that the military is going to return to
excellence being the goal. Certainly equality meaning we all anyone
who meets that goal should be given the job. But
we're I'm not going to lower the goal and say

(46:02):
that diversity is more important than excellence. It just isn't,
and it isn't our strength, right, And somebody's asking, I'll
get to you, Otter, what DEI stands for. It's diversity,
equity inclusion, go ahead.

Speaker 11 (46:16):
In November of twenty twenty four, last year, The Blaze
released their original documentary called Countdown to the Next Aviation Disaster.
Oh wow, Yeah, it's just insane that so many people
have been calling out these problems, the Blaze tweeted out.
Over the past four years, the FAA has been plagued
by outdated technology in a shift toward DEI hiring practices,

(46:38):
and the results have been disastrous. The Biden Harris administration,
with Pete Buddhaje Edge at the Helm of Transportation, has
created one of the most dangerous environments for what used
to be the most convenient way to travel. I just
that struck me.

Speaker 2 (46:53):
And it's that I didn't know that. I knew that
they had done some things, but now you that's a
good reminder. They were actually, you know, putting together investigative
reporting that was saying this is coming, yeah, which.

Speaker 11 (47:05):
Is you know, that was just they released it just
in November of last year.

Speaker 2 (47:10):
Wow, Jef. So if you're gonna watch that on Blade,
I'm sure you can find it if you're a Blaze subscriber.
And and yeah, see this is this is journalism like
it it was at one time, and this was something
they were saying. But you know, like the President just said,
common sense should tell you that. Look, if you want
to say and like what we do for a living,
let's let's try to do some quotas and let's try

(47:32):
to do some goals. You may turn out to have
a show that's not that great, but nobody dies. Yeah, okay,
but but you can't.

Speaker 15 (47:41):
You.

Speaker 2 (47:41):
I don't know how we even wrap our mind around
our national security, our air traffic controllers, these our law enforcement,
whatever the case may be. Doctors, you wouldn't do it there.
You don't when these people have life and death. You
cannot make the goal diversity. The goal has to be excellence.

(48:06):
And as we've said, and I've said a thousand times,
where did we start being so disrespectful that we think
that the goal can't be excellence? If you want to
have diversity, what are you saying You think some people
are inferior because of their ethnicity or gender. No, I
think the goal's excellence, and you leave it there, and

(48:27):
you'll still have diversity because people are excellent who come
from all kinds of backgrounds, and both genders are excellent.
I don't understand that at all. I've never understood when
you got to lower the standard if you gonn have diversity, Wow,
that's that's kind of an arrogant thing to say about people. Well,
you know, some people just can't do that. Yes, they can't.

(48:50):
You know, let's let's have the best of the best
and you'll still have diversity. So we'll be back. And
then of course, like you say, if you keep this going,
even when somebody does earn it, people roll their eyes
and go there. I said, even when sometimes it's not right,
it doesn't accomplish either. No, we'll be back more than

(49:13):
the show after this.

Speaker 1 (49:16):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. This is where Logic
Beats left the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (49:41):

(51:11):
Everybody got there? How many games we're gonna see?

Speaker 4 (51:14):
It's a three game series? Way to go, but three
game series? And you know, you know the streaming options
are so advanced now, I mean a streams in HD.

Speaker 2 (51:26):
But so did you? I know that we all usually
take our you know, are my pillow with us? We oh,
we gotta have that. Got to have our little.

Speaker 4 (51:39):
Blanket and our little throw, our little favorite one. Talking
about this, well, yeah, the rooms are always too cold,
so we got to have our favorite blanket and all
that and uh, and so Terry's car gets much better
gas mileage. And it's the right thing to do. But
anytime you go from your truck to to a sedan
type call, you're like, wows is tiny?

Speaker 2 (51:59):
You feel like you sit around.

Speaker 4 (52:00):
Hey, it's the right thing to do. I mean, my goodness,
it's really made for.

Speaker 2 (52:03):
Stuff, it is. And I hope they I wish they
would ban bucket seats were going right, and so you know,
you're trying to pack the night before and get bags
in there and and you know all this kind of stuff.
That way the next morning, you know, you don't have
to do a whole lot and uh, let's pack everything
except what we got to have the next morning. And uh.

Speaker 4 (52:23):
And so I've got her car and and her her
mom is going to meet us and all that.

Speaker 2 (52:27):
It's just it's just the best thing to do.

Speaker 4 (52:29):
Well, last night, there was talk about, you know, taking
my pillows and not just our individuals, but they're my
pillows and uh, and I said, yeah, I'll grab I'll
grab mine and and everything. And she had changed the
change the sheets on the bed and everything, and I
noticed that the pillow that she likes the most was
over kind of on my side, and I thought, and

(52:52):
then she took what I call a backup pillow, because
sometimes I'll have a pillow leaning up against pillars and
uh and and so she had she had mine that
I'm not going to take. So I thought that she
was signaling to me, here's my pillow. When you packed
the car, go ahead and pack mine that way when
we meet.

Speaker 2 (53:10):
I don't have to even worry about it.

Speaker 4 (53:12):
So the lights are off and we're going to bed,
and I said, hey, this big pillow, because night's laying
in between us. I said, hey, this big pillow. Do
you just what do you want to do with this?
What are you talking about?

Speaker 2 (53:24):
And I went happy.

Speaker 4 (53:25):
I said, oh wow, I know we're getting ready. We're
getting ready for some reason. I don't know why, but
the house has to be spotless when you leave.

Speaker 2 (53:33):
I don't understand.

Speaker 4 (53:34):
Anyway, I said, I said, well, you know this the pillow,
your pillows right here.

Speaker 2 (53:39):
No it's not, No, it's not.

Speaker 4 (53:44):
I'm holding your pillow right now, and I'm just asking,
do you you just want me to take it?

Speaker 2 (53:50):
Is that what I can? I'll pack it?

Speaker 4 (53:54):
What are you talking about? And I'm like, oh wow,
So here it's elevating and understand we're in the dark. Okay,
here is the voice on the other side, definite tone.
Oh yeah, she's done with me, okay. And I'm like,
ok IMA's tired and and and I just but I
just need to know.

Speaker 2 (54:11):
Am I leaving the pillow?

Speaker 4 (54:12):
Because I don't want to also be blamed for where's
my pillow when we get there and we don't have it.
So I said, just the pillow, the one you always
sleep with. Now I'm elevating.

Speaker 2 (54:22):
Uh, I've got it.

Speaker 4 (54:24):
I'm holding it in my hand, and I just need
to know, and do you want me to take it
with me? And I thought you were telling me that
that was signaling to me, go ahead and take my pillow.
I'll use this tonight. Don't worry about that package. No,
I'm on my pillow and she's laying on it. And
I said, if you'll pick your head up.

Speaker 8 (54:42):
Oh no, no, no, no.

Speaker 2 (54:46):
Okay, I didn't say it like that. Okay, you big
Now with the guys, I'm making out with the dudes now.

Speaker 4 (54:52):
I told her, I told her, if you were kindly
pick your head up and look, you'll see that you're
on my one of the pillows that I use and
any pillow can be used.

Speaker 2 (55:03):
But I'm just saying normally, I'd just like to point
out you're laying on my pillow. This is your pillow,
lay in between us. Thank you?

Speaker 4 (55:10):
And and then finally, oh, oh, well no, I don't
know why that happened.

Speaker 2 (55:18):
Give me my pillow. I'll just bring it in the morning.
I'm like, wow, okay, did you take your pill and
put in the car?

Speaker 4 (55:26):
Yes, I just packed my pillow. I'm sorry, it would
be great, but I'm thinking these things. I'm not dear
brave enough to say it.

Speaker 2 (55:32):
No, you know? And uh, and you don't want to
lay down frustrated with each other. No, it's terrible. Now
you can't sleep. Good love you, honey, look for you
seeing in the morning. Did you throw one of those
out in the dark and just enjoy your pillow? All right?
All right, Well, it's a lot on us to get packed.

Speaker 3 (55:53):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (55:53):
Even though we're only going for two days, we've got
lots of stuff. Hey, now that we've got their work
out travel now we got to word that. Baby, we're
all ready to go. I'm looking for this trip, aren't
you right? I don't know. I don't get it.

Speaker 4 (56:05):
I think I've got a hoodie or two and some
sweatpants and a pair of jean just because you don't know,
I could.

Speaker 2 (56:12):
Take a plastic bag from Walmart and put what I'm taking.

Speaker 4 (56:14):
I literally packed within ten minutes. Ten minutes to pack.
Did you where are you going? I'm gonna go get
my nails done to go to to go to to a.

Speaker 2 (56:24):
Game, right, because I know everybody there is waiting. Suit
you nail a long ride, a long run. They do
look beautiful? Now beautiful?

Speaker 5 (56:31):
Now?

Speaker 2 (56:31):
Did you now? Did y'all y'all end on a good note?
Or do you have to think? Yeah? I think so,
cause I'm gonna tell you if you if you've ever
had an angry woman, and it will shock you. I've
always been amazed how long they commit to the solid track.
Amazing in the car, it's amazing. In the carts. I
almost say, I think there's no they can. They'll do
the whole trip. I don't know if in their mind
they've got at what point they're going to, you know,

(56:52):
start talking again? Is it as we go into Florida? Right?
Do you think they ever get in their mind? You know,
unless I decide that I'm doing some legal work on this.
You had to eventually start talking to me.

Speaker 3 (57:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (57:03):
How many trials do you give it before you give up?
You go, well and try to start a conversation. I'm
a three Yeah, I'm about three to two or three.
I know something out of you can believe what happened
worked today? Yeah? And nothing? Okay, all right? Hey did
you hear from the boys? Nothing? Hey? Uh do you
see what Trump said? I'll try that different areas. I

(57:25):
will tell you this, though.

Speaker 4 (57:26):
One great thing about her is that when it's over,
it's over. I mean, so like, okay, good today. I mean,
she's gonna be.

Speaker 2 (57:32):
But that's good for you, you know, Okay good.

Speaker 4 (57:35):
And there was a time where I'm like, because we
got a lot of smart alec inis, uh that I
was saying things in the dark, and but I thought, well,
do I just take the pillar or just let it stay?
I don't know, you know, but I really needed her
to know I've got your pillow and you're on.

Speaker 2 (57:49):
Mine, and this fellow is not mine. And I just
wanted to know because apparently these pillows are a big deal.
Oh yeah, by the way, I love the texture. Imagine
all this going on West Beat. He had a horseshoe,
his hair's grown up. It doesn't make it different. It does,
It doesn't make it different. First five minutes of us

(58:10):
meeting this morning. That and you'll know because they can't
hide it. If I slammed it, she slammed the door,
I'm like, Oh, there we go.

Speaker 1 (58:18):
This is the Rick Burgess show. Sure he played a

(58:41):
little ball. Rick Burgess. Okay, are you ready to bring
something to the table?

Speaker 16 (58:51):
Cool?

Speaker 1 (58:52):
No, and get on the show. What eight eight eight
six eight fought your time?

Speaker 2 (58:58):
America. Lines are open much to discuss and we love
to hear from you. The number was just given to
you by the voice of ken isby eight eight eight
six Big Box. Thanks for being with us today. All
ten lines are now available and if you move right

(59:19):
now you will get in UH and we look forward
to chatting with you from the text line. Husband's a
woman on the text line. I assume UH is saying
when when you we are given the silent treatment, the
question they are waiting on is for us to ask
them what's wrong. But you don't get an answer because

(59:41):
the silent treatments going on. That's right, it's they usually
let you bake on that. I've gone to what's wrong
before you got to say it at least three times. Yeah,
and you're right, And then there's always the you know
what's wrong now? Then then there's that, then there's that
game we have to play for a minute. Yeah, you
know it is. It's look, it's and we all know

(01:00:01):
how this ends. If you've been married long enough, we
all know how this ends. They win, they went, they win.
The silent treatment. We give in because we just want
we just want our lives to be fun again, you know.
And I want everybody to be happy. How about this?
And everybody just be happy. I will tell you this
as far as as far as marriage is concerned, and

(01:00:21):
it is a wonderful gift from God, and we're married
to wonderful women. But the man woman dynamic. The bottom
line is, let me tell some of you young bucks something.
It's not worth it. Yeah yeah, booking battles. Hey, take
take this, uh, this desire to be vindicated and be
right and just put it over on the side. Yeah, centerly,
you don't even miss it. We just wanted all to
go well, yeah, you know, we just we just love

(01:00:44):
company with them. I just want them to be joyful
and happy and company and just have a blast. So
phone calls coming in, let me hit you with a
couple of things. I know I've talked about this weekend,
some things going on, so we've we've hit that. I
won't review all those, but I want to look ahead
to next week too, Hope whole Community Church next weekend
on the sixth. What's eating Scott Garowski, he's back in town.

(01:01:07):
We'll have you on the show too, got it. But
he's going to speak at a Man church and then
I'm gonna have a great opportunity we're doing. You know,
we've got two more Manchurch conferences left late in February
in early March, but I am getting the opportunity to
go over with J. D. Greer, Fred Luder, Phil Waldrup
to Monroe, Louisiana for the Dry Bones Men's Conference February

(01:01:29):
of the seventh and the eighth. I'll be speaking on
the eighth, but the other guys, we're all going to
be speaking that entire weekend in Monroe, Louisiana. If you
want to join us for that, go to the Manchurch
dot com and look under those upcoming events too. And
then I told you guys tomorrow, ladies, if y'all want
to go here, Sherry, and you're in for a treat. Tuscaloosa,
Alabama's the place ten am till noon at University Church

(01:01:52):
of Christ and they still have seats available for that
and you can actually just come to the door if
you want to as well. Dusty out of Troy about
come on Dusty.

Speaker 6 (01:02:02):
Good morning fellows, how y'all God, how you doing?

Speaker 15 (01:02:05):
Good man?

Speaker 6 (01:02:06):
Were hanging in there like a hair on a bit.

Speaker 2 (01:02:08):
Bring it. Greg loves that one.

Speaker 6 (01:02:11):
I was just calling and I got a couple of things.
I've sent Adler some videos that I saw came across
my feet on Instagram, and one of them was a
really good quote about how government programs worked from Ronald
Reagan House. Government programs were that, you know, they should
be phasing themselves out, not getting larger. And then the
other one was that and this is this is huge news.

(01:02:35):
They are bringing back some of the big boy restaurants.

Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
Really, yeah, sook.

Speaker 6 (01:02:41):
Here, there's several several restaurants that are opening back. It's
just gonna be a few locations across the country, but
they are bringing back a few of the big boy restaurants.

Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
Making America great again. That's right. That's that does my
heart good. I mean, I'm staring at it, BI boy,
right now you're making a comeback, Sergeant Serge. Welcome to
the show out of Sweet Home, Alabama.

Speaker 8 (01:03:02):
Go ahead, morning, fellas.

Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
Hey, buddy Sorge.

Speaker 17 (01:03:06):
So I was just gonna make speedy for a little
better about his eight hour drive.

Speaker 5 (01:03:10):
When I was stationed in Utah.

Speaker 4 (01:03:11):
My family, my wife and two small kids, would make
a twenty six hour drive once a year, straight straight through.

Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
Could y'all not break it down a little bit? Maybe halfway?
That's straight through?

Speaker 18 (01:03:23):
Well, I mean, you know we could have, but my
kids traveled so well and whatnot.

Speaker 19 (01:03:29):
We were blessed in that in that part.

Speaker 17 (01:03:31):
So we just I wouldn't get off from behind the
wheel other than the pump gas and use restrooms.

Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Wow, how did a guy say he went from Cape Girardo,
Missouri to Montreal, Canada. See, I've never been ever ridden
or driven out like that, and I have no desire. Yeah,
we Ten's about his most I've ever got. Good for you, sarch. Wow,
and like ten, Tom, Welcome to the rick Burgers Show.

Speaker 20 (01:03:55):
Go ahead, morning. Yeah, I had a Friday big and
I'm sure you're glad you weren't out in that snowstorm, buddy,
don't miss that. No, sir, listen, how about when your
wife and you are sitting there. I'm blessed and we
don't ever go to bed mad at all. And the
rare moments that we have in an argument, she'll say,

(01:04:17):
and once she said that you better be quiet.

Speaker 2 (01:04:20):
I know you figured it out.

Speaker 20 (01:04:22):
Tom, brush some eggs on that wheel man so we
can win some mads. They getting ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
Let me tell you the uh, the fun one of
the funniest lines my wife ever ever had. We were
talking about this, you know, don't go to bed angry,
don't let the sun go down, don't go to bed mad. Now,
she said, no, No, Sometimes some of the things that
I've been mad at you about. If you don't want
to go to bed bad, you're just saying you don't know,
you don't want to go to bed. Yeah, let me
sleep on you. If you want to get some sleep tonight,

(01:04:53):
you better be willing to go to bed mad. Yeah,
because I'm not. I ain't gonna be passing this to
the tomorrow. Still mad, still mad, Sorry, naughty night, But
I understand the stomach. Casey in Auburn Alabama.

Speaker 21 (01:05:06):
Casey, go ahead, Hey, I figured today's Friday.

Speaker 19 (01:05:10):
What do we gotta do to get a live performance
from Adler or some love?

Speaker 3 (01:05:14):
Is it lonely?

Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Love is not lonely?

Speaker 11 (01:05:23):
I sound so rough right now. I don't want to.
I want to do the song Justice, such a good song,
Love is not Lonely?

Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
Okay, maybe next week.

Speaker 2 (01:05:32):
I think that song actually has potential. I really did.
Just got a rebirth after we played Thegether. I never
could get Greg to go back and revisit Stormy Weather.
But don't be like that, right, Yeah, don't be like him.
Got to fight about it. Got to fight about it.
I mean almost a physical free work the song Stormy Weather.
We were what forty you know, I was hanging out

(01:05:53):
with Wingo yesterday and we were talking and cutting up,
and he never knew about the air supply thing, and
he brought up something about the same thing when he
played a little ball, that they would let them do security.
And by the way, you know that Wingo did security
for Elvis. I bet that was something, well, he said, screaming,
he said, unfortunately was seventy seven oh somewhere in there.

(01:06:13):
Right before he went in. He said, you talk about
looking rough. He even claimed there's a guy on stage
and the Jordanaires that was actually singing his parts reck
and that he was just but he said a little rough.
But anyway, so I threw out and I said, yeah,
I said, he threw out Elvis and then what was
the other one he threw out? And I mean that
was all really big time stuff and I said, yeah,
I said, I got removed his security team one time.

(01:06:34):
He goes, that's shock or why? I said, I never
got to brow air supply. He said, air supply, and
then it was off and running about the yacht rock
air supply. He pulled up a picture of him and
pointing to he said, these guys, these roughnecks. I said,
I said, let me tell you that little one got
a mouth on him, and I said, in the other
one tough And you think, yeah, all right. Of course
Drumm wouldn't play art now, he wouldn't. You tell you

(01:06:56):
what they did not? They did not care for me
pointing it out. Jim and Athens, Alabama, Hey.

Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
Jim, Hey guys, many years ago we bought a butcher
block off of eBay and got it really really cheap,
got a good deal on it. So when the when
the when it ended? My wife called the number and said,
we're gonna come get that tomorrow. And the guy said, uh, where.

Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
Are you located?

Speaker 3 (01:07:24):
And she said Athens, Alabama. Do you know where Perrysburg, Ohio?

Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
Is?

Speaker 3 (01:07:28):
No, but my husband can find Hey, this was briefing,
Yes Quest. We got to go, and we get to
Cincinnati and we go Caddy Corner up to Toledo, Ohio.
I started seeing signs like Detroit was fifty miles to
one way, were back, We're back this way. The you

(01:07:54):
know what, Wooden Butcher block a big one.

Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
Jim, it's not worth it.

Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
I know our dog went with us, our little dots
and he wouldn't get in the car for several years.

Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
Don't worry. My husband can find it. Do you'll remember
map quest? Man? We thought map Quest, we thought, well,
get better than this it off. Do you remember those
days of the map? Oh Rick, I'm a great map reader.
Here we go, I am I maybe the best you
get me a map. I can't get anywhere. We don't
need it anymore, I know, but I still like having
one close because I like to look at the trip before.
But I can't just blindly type it in and say

(01:08:28):
take me there. I just can't do it. I gotta
look at it. Yeah, I don't like it. What else
you got a favor were gonna bleed you? I just
want to look and go, Okay, I kind of know
where I'm going, right, I'll use it for a map.
I'll need it when I get in town for little streets.
You know, you don't like that sense that this person's
in charge, that I'm distrussing them. Dude, Yeah, because they
do mess up in times they do. I mean you

(01:08:50):
and I were just complaining. I don't know what happened
to Ways. Ways was one of my favorites. But Ways
is getting where. They don't see trouble quick enough. No,
the only thing they see is railroad crossings. And I'm
scared of forever. I mean I could see it myself.
I don't need him tell him and Carl on the
shoulder car on the show a pothole. I don't even
tell you about a potole. We'll be back.

Speaker 1 (01:09:07):
This is the Rick Burchers Show. This is what Trump
hadded on when he sought to make America great again.

(01:09:28):
The Rick Butcher Show.

Speaker 11 (01:09:32):
She was running from.

Speaker 2 (01:09:33):
A feather man selling salvation in his head. We're back.
From the text line, somebody says, I gotta ask the
Burgess brothers. This where are y'all on? Huey Lewis and
the News jumps another father than jumping? Well like that one.

(01:10:02):
It's no hip to be square, but it's nice. Oh boy,
do not say that? What Gregor speedlockship to be aware
that you're kidding?

Speaker 5 (01:10:11):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:10:12):
Look again, I like it. Let me get a record.
I like Huey Lewis in the News. I think he's
I like his voice. I love the way they sing background,
and I just like. I know it's a little poppy,
but whatever, but that song was horrible. First of all,
I'm being sure who I'm hip to be square? You
know what I'm saying. You don't have him play on words? Well,
they're playing on words when he says sometimes bad is bad.

Speaker 15 (01:10:32):
I do like that.

Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
That's a really good one. It's a good song. But
you appreciated speedy. Please tell me that's not true.

Speaker 4 (01:10:38):
I'll say this so if it's on I won't go
a yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:10:43):
I probably just like and I get tired of the
one from Back to the Future, Thank you Power Love Dad,
and then what one and one about back in time
or something. Is that not the same thing? Maybe I
could think you're did.

Speaker 4 (01:10:55):
Y'all feel pressure? Anything that they played that one too much?
Anything that played too much on the radio? You else,
it was your obligation.

Speaker 2 (01:11:01):
To not like it. Yeah, kind of. I got to
be honest. I was getting back out of it. I
gotta be honest. No, I literally would. I either burned
on it or I didn't. There's some songs you can
play a thousand times. I'll never be mad at you, absolutely,
you know. And I'll never be mad at you. And
there's some Rick and I don't want to admit that
I really really loved in the Day that I can't
listen to now because I'm just tired. I've heard it

(01:11:23):
so many times. Okay, let me go this Farstook this way, Arismith,
there it is. I don't even know you. I mean
i've heard that. Probably I knew it.

Speaker 21 (01:11:34):
Rick.

Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
I'm gonna go Sweeten motion every time before I go
to that. I have to agree with that. Yeah, okay,
what are you done with dream On? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
What?

Speaker 2 (01:11:42):
No, No, Greg, You're not allowed to be done with
dream On. You can take walk this way and be
done with I'm good with that because it became so prominent.
You cannot be against dream One. I forbid it. Maybe
I said that a little quick. You did dream On.
I'll tell you another one, metal Health, income on feel
the Noise from Choiet. I'm with you on come on,
feel the noise. Never Health, never on metal Health. Greg,

(01:12:04):
we covered that and owned it. Do that hurts to
anything we covered? I'm kind of That was my next question.
Or do you agree with that you were a man
tired of If you covered a song, the burn factor
is higher because you had to play it so many times.

Speaker 11 (01:12:17):
Yes, yes, you had to learn it. You had to
play it a bunch. Greg, you can be done with
dude looks like a lady. You can't be done with Dreamond.

Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
Great point. And by the way, I'm way done with dude,
it looks like a lady. Hann Ragdoll, Yeah, halland Oates
are never like rag Doll, halland Oaates or Huey Lewis.
Now are you talking about nineteen seventies Hall and Oats?
Are you talking about eighties? Are you talking about are
you talking about Sarah Smile She's Gone? Are you talking
about you know your your kiss is on my list?

Speaker 4 (01:12:45):
Huey Lewis Library, Hall and Oaks Library, Huey Lewis.

Speaker 2 (01:12:50):
Hi else hangs in there because of their seventies stuff,
early eighty stuff. But I had to go Hughey, when
did it turn for Hall and Oates? One Cibadie.

Speaker 16 (01:13:01):
I've got me that he had that live all right,
So let's run through each girl, but this old one,
Sarah Small, those are all but this guy's strictly talking
about Okay, So Greg, I'm gonna run the list and
you give me thumbs up, thumbs down, and see where
we are the heart of rock and roll.

Speaker 2 (01:13:19):
Not big on it, Okay, I'm I mean on that,
not really. I want a new drug, which really, really,
I'm gonna find out. I don't like Ray Parker stole
for Ghostbusters. But go ahead, I want a new drug.

Speaker 5 (01:13:33):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (01:13:34):
Because you've heard it so much? That can I tell
you as a DJ, I want a new drug? Number
one to walk it is number one? Do it right now? Okay?
See here we go five? Mean it said Shop of
the Hour on w R A B. Getting ready for

(01:13:57):
the weekend, James Man, He says, looks try a little
warming trip this weekend makes me want a new Drug
Lois and.

Speaker 15 (01:14:05):
The new drug.

Speaker 11 (01:14:12):
Cross my car.

Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
I can't tell you right down. The radio ruined me
on that. They played it too much. Good walk Me
Walking that song you didn't no, no, that was a
good part, but they played it a lot. You guys,
I guess you didn't like the Afternoon again. I love
the face you make with that voice. All right, you've
already spoke to the power of love. You hate that?
Got it?

Speaker 7 (01:14:32):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
What about Jacob's Ladder? We like that love. Jacob and
a Shocker may be my favorite. And a Shocker and
a Shocker? Uh, Greg and I. One of our mini bands,
silent Rain, the one that probably had the most potential.
We actually covered Jacobs the first ten seconds of that
because I know well I did it in the bed
coming out, I do know it. Reference to Birmingham in

(01:14:56):
the beginning, Yeah, that's let's hear the first lyric. The
reference to Birmingham is fantastic.

Speaker 5 (01:14:59):
I didn't I didn't know.

Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
I didn't put the dame of the song with this.
I met a fan dancer down in the south Side,
So you love that? Like step Greg said, he wants
to walk one? Which one do you want to? I'm
gonna have to you want to want one? All right?

Speaker 5 (01:15:22):
Greg?

Speaker 2 (01:15:23):
Now here comes watch Greg. He'll hate this one. Stuck
with you or stuck on you, whatever it was, stuck
with you. I don't remember that one, big be stuck.
I hate that one. Doing it all for my baby?
You hate that. I don't like Huey Lewis. Now I'm back.
If this is it? If this is it? No, okay,
it's all right. Probably my favorite do you Believe in Love?

(01:15:44):
Which was the first song ever? A good one, great
great harmonies. That was a good cross your arm, heart
and soul. You like again? Let me just say this,
I realized the burn factor. It's not that I don't like,
but the radio just killed me. Greg. You we're right
back in time. You're right there. It's power of love
and back in Time are two different songs from I guess,

(01:16:04):
one from part one one for part two, I'll said Greg. Now,
now let's ask the question again from the text. Do
you like Hugh Lewis? And then? I don't hate them,
but I'm not a huge fan. Okay, how about is
that Adler I loved?

Speaker 11 (01:16:14):
I really like Hugh Lewis in the news.

Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
I mean I like him.

Speaker 11 (01:16:17):
I think they're undisputed. Masterpieces have to be square.

Speaker 2 (01:16:20):
I don't have any of this, but let me say
this in my Apple music, I do not have any
Huey Lewis Greg here's a great question text, a little
off topic, but still on topic because of the burn factor. Okay,
are you ever tired of don't Stop Believing? By journey? Uh?
You know that's that's good. It's close. What is close?

(01:16:43):
But then once it starts, I'm back. I'm back in
nineteen eighties.

Speaker 11 (01:16:46):
It goes back to the cover band thing. I had
to play that at a bunch of weddings, so I'm
done with it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:50):
Okay. Oh wow, yep, what reminds me of a good
I love that that time in the eighties. You got
a little nostalgia tied in and it was huge. Here's
where I am on. What a huge Here I am on,
don't stop believing. I'll go through the first verse in
the first course, and then I'm out. But the first, honey,
I'm with you, But the first, the first, the first verse,

(01:17:11):
I gotta be there. I do it did the small
damn guy. Yeah, I never get I gotta. But I
will not go to the second verse. No, I'm done.
I smell a white and Chip. I never get back there.
I never get back there. What is the song you
listened to within the last month that you're embarrassed? You like, uh, oh,
there's so many.

Speaker 4 (01:17:33):
I mean like you're in your truck by yourself and
you're like, man, if somebody knew I was singing with this?

Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
Uh Howard Jones that if you want the nothing now
the other one? I love that Howard Jones. Yeah, all right, Rick,
there's your bad music coming out? Hey ever does Chris single?
I ever want to walk the song?

Speaker 16 (01:17:54):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
Sure is to blame to blame that walk down? That
is a good solvent.

Speaker 1 (01:18:02):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (01:18:17):
You better listen up. You know what we say. Loss,
I'm gonna tell you.

Speaker 11 (01:18:26):

That's right, baby, Thanks for being with us, having a
blast a brand new hour and you can join us.
Oh the number is eight eight eight six big box
you in Texas. Many of you are eight eight eight
six two four for eight six to nine our website
Rick Burgess Show dot com. So speedee is uh taking

(01:19:00):
his road trip now to see his son down at
the World's Old I mean, not the world, the country's
oldest city, Saint Augustin flark about time. I wonder if
he'll go with that, you know, he's aging a little bit.
Maybe he'll try to find the Fountain of youth. Yeah,
and there were ponsidenttly on with concidentally on speed. He
found the fountain. He came back and he looked like

(01:19:21):
he was fifteen. What if he came back full head
of hair, full head? I mean he said, well, I
went down here my head and I stuck my head
in the fountain of youth. Lit what happened. So it's
Adler and Gregg and yours truly hanging out through all
bear with us the rest of the way. So, uh,
and we've been discussing a number of things. Now we
have gone back, we kind of give him update on
the crash, we've talked about, just funny stories in our lives.

(01:19:45):
Speedy's dropping the dogs off for doggie care. I understand
some people were woke up inside the house that were
still sleeping due to the laughter over that one. So remember,
if you ever miss any part of the show, you
go back and you just get it on your own.
Either off the YouTube chain, Anne or our podcast channel.

Speaker 18 (01:20:02):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
We've also updated some of the theories about the crash
of what may have caused it. Uh. And so we've
done all that we We can certainly update you as
we get more. But Greg, one last thing on Last
Hours that we we Someone said on Huey Lewis and
the News, Uh, what about walking on a Thin Line?
That may be my favorite? Forgot about it. Here's what

(01:20:24):
I've determined on me and Hughey. I like a lot
of his songs, and some of them I don't. Okay, well,
that's all right, And I blame the radio for most
of it because they played them too much, were walking
on them. And Greg said, this is a song he's
not proud that he likes what he does. Yes on
Highward Jones, no one is to blame just you know

(01:20:46):
this song and too young for this one, too young
for this one. Some UK guy.

Speaker 11 (01:20:51):
I looked at Big.

Speaker 2 (01:20:53):
Keyboard Guy, Big keyboard Guy, biggest hit. His biggest hit
was U U was that no one? No one?

Speaker 11 (01:21:01):
I know what is like to get you to know you?

Speaker 2 (01:21:02):
Well, things can only get better?

Speaker 11 (01:21:07):
Yeah, oh okay, that's what okay.

Speaker 5 (01:21:10):
I know?

Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
Yeah, okay. This was his other song that Greg's in
love with now say that I said, you would be
surprised that I had it controversial From the text line
involving our our look at music is eighties music overall overrated?
You know, there's a lot of bad eighties music. I
just hear, what a controversial statement, What a controversial there

(01:21:31):
is there is because you can go to the eighties
channel and there's some bad stuff that is in that.
The electronic drum sound, you know that, there's that little
world and there's a lot of what is that spandau ballet,
that type of oh my, you know what I'm saying,
don't even there's a lot of that.

Speaker 5 (01:21:46):
No.

Speaker 2 (01:21:46):
But now you go to the hair metal scene, then yeah,
that's where I was. You have to be careful by
throwing all the eighties music out, because, as you just said,
you're gonna kick out some really good stuff. Yeah. I
mean you're basically saying taking Van Halen's nineteen eight four
tour an album and throwing it out. You can't do that.
I'm not throwing that out. No, I'm going find them
all out. That's what we're doing. Yeah, you're gonna do that,

(01:22:07):
You're gonna chunk it. Yeah, So so now we can't
do that. No, And as you said, I mean, we're
gonna throw Deaf Leopard out when they were at their best.
Oh my, still one of my favorites. May have been
my favorite band growing up. And three two one This
is Greg, where Greg tells us that High and Dry
is better than Pow Roman is the best record they made,
and he's guilty for liking Hysteria. Yeah. I listened to it.

(01:22:29):
Now I don't like as much as I did. I
thought it was fine, Greg. I don't know why. You know,
I don't hate it, but it's no power Mania or Yeah.
So anyway, so I think you gotta be careful with
taking an era of music and just throwing it out,
because there's some good stuff that goes out with it.
But a lot of times people refer to eighties music.
It's the span down Ballet, the Thompson Twins, ABC, Thompson Twins.

(01:22:50):
You know that. Yeah, I agree, that's bad music. Oh
it is, Yeah it is, And I hope speed you heard
me say Thompson Twins. Yeah. All right. Over in the
political world, we've updated you. As I said on Trump's
speech yesterday about the crash Pete, heg Seth his comment
about the worst dumbest phrase in military history is our

(01:23:10):
diversity is our strength. We've hit that. Here's Tulca Gabbart.
Now she's catching some heat because I guess if you're
RFK Jr. Or her, you weren't allowed to be a
Democrat once and then realize that what the Democrat Party
has turned into you can't be part of. You're not
allowed to do that anymore without taking heat.

Speaker 11 (01:23:28):
Yes, Yes, and you've got Kennedy RFK Junior, the nominee
for Health and Human Services Secretary. We've been playing a
bunch of stuff from that. Tulca Gabbard is nominated for
Director of National Intelligence and she had a bunch of
hearings yesterday. Cash Fattel was also selected for FBI director
nominated and he had some hearings as well yesterday. If

(01:23:49):
you guys want any of that stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
All right, so let's go with Tulca Gabbard first in
her opening statement, Okay, you want to do that first,
all right, So here we go.

Speaker 22 (01:23:57):
Now, before I close, I want to warn the American
people who were watching at home closing mayor lies and
smears in this hearing that will challenge my loyalty to
and my love for our country. Those who oppose my
nomination imply that I am loyal to something or someone
other than God, my own conscience, and the Constitution of

(01:24:18):
the United States, accusing me of being Trump's puppet, Putin's puppet,
Assad's puppet, a Guru's puppet, Mody's puppet, not recognizing the
absurdity of simultaneously being the puppet of five different puppet masters.
The same tactic was used against President trumpet law and failed.

(01:24:40):
The American people elected President Trump with a decisive victory
and mandate for change. The fact is what truly unsettles
my political opponents is I refuse to be their puppet
puppet again.

Speaker 2 (01:24:54):
Greg, Okay, you think that gray is natural in her hair?
She did that.

Speaker 11 (01:24:58):
No, that's that's from her time in the war. She
was like a medic and uh, evidently the trauma that
she went.

Speaker 2 (01:25:06):
Through put one gray streak in her Yes, she's like
a superhero. I saw this coming.

Speaker 11 (01:25:11):
Isn't that crazy? Yeah, she doesn't do it.

Speaker 2 (01:25:14):
Yeah, you feel bad about saying something now, I don't
buy that.

Speaker 11 (01:25:16):
I don't know if I do. I do, but it's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
I knew you were going to say that, I mean,
how does that happen?

Speaker 5 (01:25:22):
Right?

Speaker 11 (01:25:23):
I mean, stress can make your yeah, but I mean.

Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
Look at mine. But I'm just saying that one street,
that one streets kind of kind of streak. A lot
of people do that as as they do it on purpose.

Speaker 11 (01:25:34):
Yeah, yeah, all right. So evidently she doesn't.

Speaker 2 (01:25:37):
Right, So she's saying that that was not something that
was done at the beauty shop. Stress put put that
stylish look in her. I'll tell you what. She's not
a puppet. No, she's not, all right, And she continues
now going to be bringing up the counselors treason US
acts the deep State committed against President Trump. So so
here here we.

Speaker 22 (01:25:55):
Go a few other examples. The American people elected Donald
Trump as their president not once, but twice, and yet
the FBI and intelligence agencies were politicized by his opponents
to undermine his presidency and falsely portray him as a
puppet of Putin. Title I of Faiza was used illegally
to obtain a warrant to spy on Trump campaign advisor

(01:26:17):
Carter Page, using a Clinton campaign funded false dossier as
their so called evidence. Biden campaign advisor Tony Blinken was
the impetus for the fifty one former senior intelligence officials
letter dismissing Hunter Biden's laptop as disinformation, specifically to help
Biden win the election. Former d and I James Clapper

(01:26:40):
lied to this committee in twenty thirteen denying the existence
of programs that facilitated the mass collection of millions of
Americans phone and Internet records, yet was never held accountable.
Under John Brennan's leadership, the cia abused its power to
spy on Congress to dodge oversight, lied about doing it
until he was caught, and yet has never been held responsible.

Speaker 11 (01:27:02):
And this goes on and on.

Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
Oh wow, there we go, and finally I like this
because this is can she handle herself when people try
to bait her, try to can she handle tough questions?
And the answer apparently is yes. Shouldn't be surprising but
based on her background. But here's one of the Democrat
senators trying to bait her on Eric Snowden, and she
immediately gives the proper balance.

Speaker 1 (01:27:24):
So here it is, do you still think Edward Snowden
is brave?

Speaker 22 (01:27:29):
Mister Vice Chairman, Edward Snowden broke the law. I do
not agree with or support with all of the information
and intelligence that he released, nor the way in which
he did it, there would have been opportunities for him
to come to you on this committee or seek out
the IG to release that information.

Speaker 11 (01:27:47):
The fact is he also, even as he.

Speaker 22 (01:27:49):
Broke the law, released information that exposed egregious, illegal and
unconstitutional programs that are happening within our government. Excuse that
led to serious reform that Congress concerts took.

Speaker 2 (01:28:02):
Chairman, we got five minutes. So why did I take
your answer?

Speaker 5 (01:28:07):
You know?

Speaker 11 (01:28:08):
And these are your quotes?

Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
Yeah, she handled herself well, and he was like, well, no,
I don't want you to actually lay that out where
people could actually agree with you. I wanted you, but
that's not the answer I wanted. But she stayed calm,
level headed. She answered the proper balance. He should not
have done it the way he did it, but we
also can't ignore what he did exposed and we should
be very concerned about absolutely, and that was handled quite well.

(01:28:33):
Sixteen minutes past. More of the show coming up right
after this.

Speaker 1 (01:28:38):

You know, we talked about this in the past. This
remember when we had the Will Smith thing and he
goes and he slaps you know, yeah, Chris Rock and
from the world and then unfortunately that was an unfortunate incident,

(01:30:29):
but it also took us into the bizarre world of
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett in their marriage and yeah,
a lot of where it's just a lot of weird.
It's almost like this Daily Mail story today is trying
to get us updated on this state of the weirdness
of these two. Will Smith is now fifty six, the

(01:30:54):
wife is fifty three, and this is a People magazine
reporting this, saying that they are living their own lives
but haven't completely severed ties. Now as you roll through here,
you know, you get into all kinds. They got married
in ninety seven. It says they're still together, but they

(01:31:14):
have separate homes, and they've had separate homes for years.
You know, Sherid, I tried that down at the farm
and it isn't bad. She's got your little shack. I've
got to campus. No. But the so they're saying that
it was reported in twenty twenty three that Jada Pinkett
had her own house, but it was near Will Smith's house,

(01:31:36):
and they said that he's been a bit delusioned with
Hollywood and said that that could all change with some
new success. Is he not doing well now or who's
is this products not doing as well as they they
once did?

Speaker 15 (01:31:51):
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:31:52):
Looking at looking, you know, used to he had a
big blockbuster movie, right, yeah, at least one a year, yeah,
you know, and that just looking at it, I really
haven't seen anything for him lately, or I'm not paying
attention to one or the other. It says they've been
working on their relationship after it was disclosed in twenty
twenty three that they've been separated for seven years, beginning
in twenty sixteen. But they're saying though they live separate lives,

(01:32:15):
and they even live unfortunately as we noticed, like there's
no real marriage in always. I'll just leave you at that. Yeah,
that they're not. They're not separated. They're just still acting
like they're married but separated, I guess, but they just
live apart, right And well, so, anyway, do you remember

(01:32:40):
when we got some insight on this and it was
said they both were exhausted with their marriage and they
won't say they're not divorced, they say, but they are
living separate lives, even though she now has said she

(01:33:01):
will one day return back to living with Will because
he's getting old and will probably need to be taken
care of.

Speaker 9 (01:33:10):
Will.

Speaker 2 (01:33:10):
What's fifty fifty six? I mean, hello, I believe what's
up with these? I mean, this is so she's agreed
to when he does get feeble, she will come take
care of it. I guess she might be feeble then,
too well, the thing that has always been? And how
feeble does he have to get before she moves back in?
I guess what I don't I've never understood about these two. What?

(01:33:33):
What is the reason that you are not just why
are you staying married when you don't seem to want
any of what I think are the benefits and the
gifts of marriage. You're wanting to live single people lives? What? What?
What are you accomplishing with the marriage part of it?
I guess what is it? What does it? Do? I know?

Speaker 5 (01:33:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (01:33:56):
To me, the point, the phrase open marriage is an oxymoron.
It doesn't really work.

Speaker 2 (01:34:01):
That never really Yeah, well, it sends way. And then
you ever notice these so called I'm I'm hip to
the groove, which really means I'm just I'm I'm just
I love debauchery is what it really means. But yeah,
but you say the the whole you know, open marriage, saying,
have you ever noticed there's always the spouse that wants

(01:34:21):
the open marriage seems to not like the other person
having the same open marriage. There's always the this is
what I'm gonna do. But then when they find out
the other says, oh, I guess I Will too thought, well, hey,
now so I don't I don't understand that, I don't
know what these two I didn't know. But you you
bring up something interesting. I had not thought about the
fact that Will Smith has not really had a hit
all the times, you know, or maybe I just didn't

(01:34:44):
see it.

Speaker 11 (01:34:44):
Well, there was Bad Boys, Ride or Die in twenty
twenty four, right, and then he did have a break.
It looks like in twenty twenty three that he didn't
really come out with anything. Uh, there was that the
you know, the King Richard. No, that was good, and
that was good. Didn't he get it? Wasn't that The
Oscars night where he's Chris is an he won, by

(01:35:06):
the way, when you slap a host and win, that's
a big night.

Speaker 2 (01:35:09):
Yeah, and get to get up and get your trophy. Yep.
And that's what brought us into that weird world, you know,
where we were like, oh wow, so this is a.

Speaker 11 (01:35:17):
It does look like he's working on a very weird world.
It looks like he's working on I Am Legend two.
He's working on so that's coming up. I guess they're
they're going to do another planes, trains and automobiles.

Speaker 2 (01:35:30):
Oh really, I guess so him and who.

Speaker 11 (01:35:32):
I don't know, Okay, I'm looking at it.

Speaker 2 (01:35:34):
Sorry, that's that's weird.

Speaker 11 (01:35:37):
So yes, Kevin Hart, Will Smith and Kevin Hart.

Speaker 2 (01:35:39):
Does I Am Legend? Does it really need a two?

Speaker 11 (01:35:43):
It's a cult classic.

Speaker 2 (01:35:44):
But I mean, did do we go back with? So
we're with their back. We're in trouble again, you know
all these when you do these things that were we
all were getting attacked by something, but we finally defeated it. Really,
when you do a sequel, it's just somehow they come
back right always? Yeah, No, when come about Jurassic Park,
I mean we know we never get these dinosaurs under control. No,

(01:36:07):
I mean Newman can't keep up with anything. He's got
this stuff, you know, hidden in shaving cream and yeah,
then he gets killed and it's rolling down there. That
just tells you where they're coming back. So I guess
they got to find some way to bring the whatever
those things were. And I am legend what what was
the movie? He was a superhero? What was that? You
know what? That's actually a good movie. Yeah, I barely
remember it, but I can't remember the name an call it?

(01:36:30):
That's it? By the way, Wow, Greg dam it's almost
like passing a cognitive test there. No, that's actually a
good movie. Yeah, I think I read the bottom of
the hour. We'll be back. We'll get some more of
your phone calls before the hour is over, and we'll
also cover some more of the stories of the day
when the Rick Workers Show continues.

Looking forward to it, ladies. If you're saying, what about us,
well tomorrow Sherry Burgess is in Tesca Losa, Alabama. Yeah,
that can be there if you want to be there

(01:37:58):

Joey Dad, Tomorrow you're in for a treat. Okay. So,

(01:38:21):
a couple of questions I want to throw your way,
and I know we continue to unpack some of this.
Somebody's on the text line they're saying, you know, I
guess it's a tuber. Hey, Rick, do I see you
eating sausage balls? In the break No, no, that these
are those things that Speedy's wife sent up here. And
I don't know what you call them. They're they're like
breakfast balls of some kind. He told her, told us

(01:38:45):
what was all in them, and he brought a bag
of him and I had some of those in the
They're very good. And uh and then Ley, you know,
Greg's wife Lisa was kind enough to send us this
with the sausage square sausage square things. So yeah, we've
been we're off up yeah, and then starting Monday. You guys,
you realize Monday, the first eight people come into the

(01:39:06):
box seats, they'll be here ready to go Monday and Tuesday.
It's Monday.

Speaker 11 (01:39:11):
Is it Tuesdays?

Speaker 2 (01:39:12):
Tuesdays?

Speaker 11 (01:39:12):
I thought we were doing Tuesdays.

Speaker 2 (01:39:13):
Well, I'm sorry, you're right, we're doing Tuesdays. I'm in
next week. I just met. That's when the week starts.
It's okay, yeah, Tuesday, Tuesday and Friday. Ewe yeah, because
we're gonna twodays a week. You're right, I know the
people that were coming on Tuesday. Panic. Sorry about sorry,
I'm sorry, but anyway, it is Tuesday. So that's so
confidence man.

Speaker 11 (01:39:34):
Multiple times.

Speaker 2 (01:39:34):
Yeah, I've said it a few times a day. Thank
you guys for loving me enough to correct me. Yeah,
we give you three y'all look at you and I said,
who does it? One more? Let's say something so But anyway,
so there's various talk about, you know, foods and things
like that. You don't have to bring anything. I mean,
just yeah, it don't even It's fine. Don't worry about that.
Don't worry about that. But I want to ask you

(01:39:55):
a question. Since you and I are headed to camp
House today and we're and we're jacked going forward. It
were that is where they get on through, got the
rain coming through. We're gone down. We're gonna try to
be low, low hassle, you know, and just do anything. Hey,
y'all want me to come over and do something and
then you know, and then we gotta wory about it.
Feara's gonna try to, you know, pull something on us.
But now that's still out there. This is an important

(01:40:16):
question because yesterday Wingo and I were down there. Now
I want to I want to emphasize this. Those of
you that that may not know Rich Wingo, you could
simply google his football prowess. Pretty impressive. He played for
coach Paul bear Bryant, a couple of national championships. Go

(01:40:36):
line Stan, Yeah, I went on to be an outstanding
player for the Green Bay Packers. He's a brutal man.
He's uh, he's he's the toughest of the tough yep okay,
and a great friend of mine, and a gift on
accountability and and growing me spiritually and just a good

(01:40:59):
loyal friend and so. But he said something yesterday and
I kind of I was like, Rich, I don't know.
And so we're at camp house and first of all,
I clearly have the coffee over there in a container.
And he goes over and starts getting a bag out,

(01:41:20):
and I said, we got coffee right here. He's got
the Scooper in it and everything, and uh. And then
he accused me of being O.

Speaker 5 (01:41:26):
C D.

Speaker 2 (01:41:26):
Wow, we'll just so I can't just get it out
of this. I said, I prefer if you got it
out of that. Yeah, that's why it's over there. And
he accused me of being O.

Speaker 3 (01:41:33):
C D.

Speaker 2 (01:41:34):
And so I said, this is back this thing we
talked about on the air. I think people declared these things.
Maybe I just like things the way I like them.
And oh, by the way, that's not where the garbage
bags go. So so anyway, a little more to the
left right. Yeah, wow, okay, you're gonna put it right
in front of the other thing. Move it over, Move
it over. I don't like that load.

Speaker 11 (01:41:52):
But anyway sounds a little OCD.

Speaker 2 (01:41:55):
But but little but he says to me, because I'm
just saying, pour us up some black coffee. We're at
camp house. Yeah, he goes, you don't have any creamer?
I said, at camp house? And he goes, I like creamer.
I said, first of all, you get a little milk.
You middle linebacker for the Green Bay Packers, you do creamer.

(01:42:19):
I like a little creamer. And then he said, so
are that you just don't have creamer? I said, we
don't keep creamer at camp house. It's just not part
of the camp house experience.

Speaker 21 (01:42:29):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:42:29):
Unless say the wives are going to stay over it,
they probably bring some sort of flavored creamer. I'm sure
they will out. Yeah me, and I'm a coffee expert.
Yes you are. That's why I'm asking you. I can
live with creamer if it's not flavored, Okay, I mean
I've known people occasionally if there's available, I don't seek
it out. But if, like in our kitchen, there's the

(01:42:51):
little creamers, not the flavored, just the creamer I have
every now and then, just one dump it in there,
just for just a little dip something different. That's it,
though I don't push you sugar in And can I
follow up with that question? What do you consider? Do
you think it's a bigger foul if I've gotten a
show enough half and half creamer, even if it's not flavored, yeah,

(01:43:13):
versus just put some milk in this in the fridge. No,
I like milk in it too? Which one is worse
to you? As far as oh the creamer? Okay, milk's
more like, Hey, I'm dumbling milk in here? Would you
be okay with dumbing some milk in there? If there
were some in the fridge at campause?

Speaker 3 (01:43:27):
Or No?

Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
I mean, I'm not gonna do it, but I can
you drink anything other than black coffee at campus? I
guess this is what I'm asking. I see where you're going. Yeah,
I'll give you that if you're if you're a male, right,
If you're a male, right, maybe let you have a
little bit of dump out of the carton of milk
that's there for other reasons. That's okay, coffee, but that
that milk can't be there as a cream. No, it's

(01:43:48):
there for other reasons. It's whole milk, and it's whole milk, right,
which I'm just going back to. Just there for campaus breakfast. Yeah,
that's yeah, And you go, well, I can use it
for this, that's permissible, Okay, I'm i self, well, use
a little creamer's here, but not at camp never at
camp never.

Speaker 11 (01:44:04):
All right, here's a gradient from black coffee to white
coffee kind of basically good.

Speaker 2 (01:44:08):
No, he would drink that?

Speaker 11 (01:44:10):
So when does it get embarrassing?

Speaker 5 (01:44:11):
Like?

Speaker 11 (01:44:11):
When should you be embarrassed for people to look at you?

Speaker 3 (01:44:15):
Five?

Speaker 2 (01:44:15):
You got to stop at four. Absolutely, I'll give you four.

Speaker 11 (01:44:18):
I've been embarrassed before. You know.

Speaker 2 (01:44:20):
Nine is unacceptable.

Speaker 11 (01:44:21):
Nine is you're just drinking milk, that's.

Speaker 2 (01:44:23):
Would you Would you ever bring out creamer? I don't
recall you getting a creamer when we were at Campounds?
Did you?

Speaker 11 (01:44:28):
I didn't, just because but that I normally.

Speaker 2 (01:44:31):
Done a lot, but not at camp house.

Speaker 11 (01:44:33):
I usually carry it, but not at camp house.

Speaker 2 (01:44:36):
Did you feel like you can't at Campound? Your dump
little milk in it. Fine, yeah, just a little. There's
just something about a guy in Camo, you know. And
and there's a guy there's like a rifle laying over here,
and and he's like, you know, there's this there's his
rubber boots next to him. He's gonna put on on
the car port because I'd really appreciate if you would
put them on in here, Wingo. And I think I

(01:44:59):
put my right, I saw the evidence of that. But
the so but I just can't see that guy turning around,
you know, Scar down the side said, yeah, he's got
a far down the side of his face and he's
got you wouln't have craamer. He has a whole lot
of other factors, not just being at camp pass. I
mean when you're rich wing that's right, rich Wingo didn't

(01:45:19):
ask for a creamer, No he didn't. And especially standing
in the kitchen of camp house. Yeah, and unraveling a
bag for no reason. We got it over here there
it is, get in it. It's in the container. You're
a little touch on that. Well, I don't understand why
we would not use the containers, right, that's what jump
in the container says coffee. So that's where you're gonna
leave the salt and pepper shaker. Seriously, but you're not. No, No,

(01:45:43):
that's that's some rumor. Absolutely, pull the put pulled the
side by side up, don't leave it in on a driveway,
pulled it in the car poard. Yeah, that one on
the concrete. You don't mind? Is that two wheels on
the concrete, two in the gravel. Seriously?

Speaker 11 (01:45:57):
So Rick, this is this your thought process? Because this
is concerning Yeah, he's a little r O C D. No, goodness,
are you what a little bit?

Speaker 2 (01:46:06):
Are you serious? I don't see that that one there.

Speaker 11 (01:46:09):
Gary had a good point about where you put the
trash bags box and to me, it should be down
you put it up. You have to me it should
be down in Okay, so you put it up.

Speaker 2 (01:46:23):
Put it you're the one that put it under sink.

Speaker 11 (01:46:25):
No, but I heard you.

Speaker 2 (01:46:26):
Did you put it under the sink?

Speaker 5 (01:46:27):
No?

Speaker 11 (01:46:28):
Because you're talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:46:30):
I wanted an eye level. This goes well, you don't
get your camp house? Well, Rick, you so you take
trash bags like the mugs, glugs ago not where mugs
go in we're illumining foil goes that goes in the box,
goes under the sink with all that, you don't know

(01:46:50):
what's down there.

Speaker 11 (01:46:51):
Not under the sink, just in a drawer down.

Speaker 2 (01:46:53):
Below, So you're not going over to gett Aluminum foil
goes into pantry at a low level. No, it's it's
it's it's eye level at camp house, right next to
the trash bag.

Speaker 11 (01:47:03):
So is everything at eye level? You're just gonna have
everything at eye level?

Speaker 2 (01:47:06):
Why why would I not? If I can? Where do
you put paper plate?

Speaker 3 (01:47:09):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:47:09):
I put eye level?

Speaker 3 (01:47:10):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:47:10):
Rick, they're down over the loom and oh my.

Speaker 11 (01:47:12):
Goodness, Rick, are your cabinets empty and down below and
everything's full of high.

Speaker 2 (01:47:16):
Yes, I don't even use it down below. What's gonna
happen when all of a sudden you're too old to
get down there and they can't even have you can't
have either.

Speaker 11 (01:47:23):
Well, when that time comes, you can address that.

Speaker 2 (01:47:25):
Or will Smith's wife can come over and have you
what's gonna do it? I just don't think. I think
that's OCD thing. I don't know where E's coming. I
don't know why that's obviously focus, it seems. Can I
tell where the garbage bags are? Now that I've been
to camp house, they're back at eye level. They go
under the same level. You almost have to get down
of your hands and knees to get down there where
they go. I didn't even make.

Speaker 11 (01:47:44):
See if you have them near the trash can so
that you're just right there in that area doing your thing.

Speaker 2 (01:47:49):
My trash cans are on the other side.

Speaker 11 (01:47:51):
Oh, that's get the same. Now that's getting crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:47:54):
This is the Rick Burgess show. Can't get out of
the car. Funny the Rick.

Speaker 2 (01:48:10):
We're hanging out together, having a blast. Thanks for being
with us. All right, So some things from the text line.
Oh wow, so everybody new character? Right, Yeah, I said,
I think we have a new character elevated O C D. Rick.
I like, okay, I'm not O C D. Now, this
one's not nice, Adler. They said, you want it down

(01:48:30):
there so it'll be at your eye level. They're saying
that for you, that is eye level under the sink.

Speaker 11 (01:48:34):
Oh, that's real funny, everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:48:36):
That's not very nice. I'm sorry about that.

Speaker 11 (01:48:38):
That's pretty good, Pretty good, Rick, What.

Speaker 2 (01:48:40):
Are you worried about if it's dirty under the sink?
You think the trash bags are gonna get dirty? Yeah,
you know I'm talking about I gotta get down there
in that area. I'm just telling you, you're coming to
a camp house where nobody's been in a few weeks,
and you open up with another that sink, you don't
know what's down I'll give you that. Now. We were
raised where we grew up. The trash bags running the sink,
or they may be at the bottom of the pantry
if they were in one of them. Well, you know

(01:49:00):
how you ever heard of somebody called a generation breaker? Well,
maybe starting a new trend. Starting a new trend. By
the way, people also are there. There are a number
of things are coming up here. Someone asked the question,
and I think this is a tough This is a
good question. Who do you think is the toughest of
the two men, Scott the Rock, Garroski or Wingo? M

(01:49:21):
good fight? What's a clash of the Titans? Yeah?

Speaker 11 (01:49:25):
One of my favorite speaking of camp house, one of
my favorite comments on tales of camp house videos online. Yes,
is I always pictured camp house as an old, worn
out cabin in the woods. This camp house is bigger
and nicer than my house.

Speaker 2 (01:49:38):
You know, I've always said that when you talk about
camp it's nice, it's it's it's really for something. You
know some of the places when we camped that we've stayed.
This is way nicer, way nice. No, no, yeah, I
mean it's not like you would go to a chalet
and stay like in the Smoky Mountains. It's it's half house,

(01:50:01):
half trailer. Uh. But I'm telling you perfect. But the
floor plans perfect, got the good tables, the guts of it.
Or of course that you know, the fire helped us. Yeah.
The room off the front where all the hunting stuff
is in. Yeah, come on, man, that great bedrooms, yes,
and a good many yeah. And and when you know
when Sherry, when you were talking about turning it down,
I couldn't believe it. Well, it was more of a

(01:50:23):
and you know when I was trying to you got
it's got, it's got. It needs some work on the outside,
you know, I think it looks good. The front door
won't open. Things like that. Well Rick, my goodness. But
I mean it's it's a No, it's a wonderful place.
I love. It's very cozy. Yeah. I wish we could
use the fire place, but you know, now that's one drawback.
It done right, But then we just had to play

(01:50:44):
with wood. We don't want to do that well, like
we said also in camp house tails. Uh. It also
won't pull up the chimney, so if we do a fire,
we'll all die in our sleep. Yeah, of course I
remember Gary thought he could fix it. That worked, and
he smoked. He helped us out, but he tried at
least once you got that little computer top TV EI
the way, I mean, I can't find a negative. Well. Also,

(01:51:06):
since Speedy being gone, Greg's having to work the text thing.
Can you do yay, buddy, it's not I mean you
hit the thing here. It's not working. Yeah it is,
but you're not doing now you're there, Uh huh, Okay,
I'm banning you from the text. You got to take
two segments off. Okay. All the other thing is Greg,
you said you ran yesterday for the first time. Yeah,

(01:51:27):
I did. That got not good? Not good at all.
Rick had to revert back to thirty ten? Did you
have to work? Revert back to thirty ten at the
first mile in and it was a struggle, And then
I was going to say, I'm going to other one.
But you know, thirty ten is you you you walk
let me say no, you run thirty steps and you
walk in and then you run thirty and you walked in,
which is known as the thirty ten workout. Yes, it is.

(01:51:49):
Had to go back to that. And then I also
have one parts of my driveway broken down where I'll
walk a segment running form the segment at sprint speed
walk a segment. I had to do a little of
that way. You mean I could ride and see this
happening in your driveway? Oh yeah. Do you think my
buddies don't blow the horn at me? Are you in
shorty shorts? Yeah? Well great, yesterday it was warm.

Speaker 11 (01:52:09):
I need video of this.

Speaker 2 (01:52:10):
Yeah yeah, video. Wait, you brought out the winter legs?
Oh yeah, Oh my legs are that color year round?
That's nothing, big deal. When I was a kid. Now
I go the grocery store, Adam, would you love to
come by and see thirty ten?

Speaker 3 (01:52:29):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:52:29):
Now, remember back in the COVID days. I remember, I
think I had a video of me running.

Speaker 11 (01:52:34):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (01:52:34):
The dogs were chasing me.

Speaker 11 (01:52:36):
Yes, yes, mister buddy was jumping all over you, I
think yeaheah.

Speaker 2 (01:52:40):
By the way, on back to the trash can, somebody says, uh,
they put empty trash bags in the bottom of the can.
So when you when trash bag comes out, there's one
laying down there, you grab another one put in there?
And they said, am I the only one who does this?
The people do? I've seen that. I've seen that when
you have professional cleaners. Yeah, professional cleaners at office buildings
and stuff. I've never seen that at home. I don't

(01:53:00):
know why you couldn't do it at home. I may start.

Speaker 11 (01:53:02):
The only problem though, is if your bag leaks, then ye,
water going on. All your little bags are wrecked and
sticky engrossed.

Speaker 2 (01:53:09):
Okay, so not the only one that's like my garbage
bags being nasty. It's got a frozen con I see right,
Nothing worse than grab a garbage bag and you're heading
at the door and you look and you're leaving a trail. Ah,
all right. Somebody said, some people thought that maybe we
should have the fireplace. What is it? Have you thought
of a fireplace? Okay, Rick getting caught up in I'm sorry,

(01:53:32):
I'm sorry. Some of this stuff, though, Greg, is interesting.
People bring a lot of good information there they did. Yeah,
So so anyway, the somebody said this is accurate right here, Greg,
I think what we have with Rick is a combination
of O, C, D and NO hassle there there that
is true, which is a weird combin of that. May
be he referred to it more the way Dad said it,

(01:53:52):
that that I was lazy. Yeah, well a double which
is what Dad would say. Sure so so anyway, So well,
we will give you a full report. And I would
love for the fireplace to start working. I really would.
Speaking of that, do we have the air thing working here?
The whistling? Is that going to be back? We don't.

(01:54:14):
I haven't heard it today.

Speaker 11 (01:54:15):
It's been sporadic. It was back for a short time yesterday.

Speaker 2 (01:54:18):
Since I want it to stay because it's first of all,
now that I know what it is. At first I
thought we were losing our mind.

Speaker 11 (01:54:25):
Oh you thought it was me making the sound and
I was I was like no, So we.

Speaker 2 (01:54:30):
All kept CUsing each other and making the sound. Yeah.
So on the third back to the thirty ten, So
did you do you feel like so that's your did
you feel like it was a better experience now that
you're running the thirty ten while looking at your Christmas decorations,
Well did that bring you back? Because they're still up,
aren't they? They are? But you know what tomorrow is. Listen,
there's none on the outside of the house. Do you

(01:54:51):
know what tomorrow is? You can't see that big tree
through the door, and what of course you can. You
can see something's lit up, Okay, but you really can't
tell you know what tomorrow want? Yeah, you don't talk
to me about it. Are you gonna hang hearts on it?
I don't know. Tomorrow we flip over to the February.

Speaker 15 (01:55:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:55:08):
It's the most bizarre thing I've ever seen. Tomorrow from
we used to take it down the day after Christmas?

Speaker 11 (01:55:15):
That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:55:16):
Can I ask you a question? This one extreme to
this is the question that all of America wants to know.
Unless Lisa says let's take them down? Will you ever
say it? I'm going to have to. Will you? Are
you just let it go? Like I told you yesterday,
it's not hard to talk talk me out of doing
something I really don't want, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (01:55:34):
Are you?

Speaker 2 (01:55:35):
Are you willing to let them go to next Christmas?
If that's what Lisa want, not going to next Christmas,
You'll make a stand.

Speaker 9 (01:55:40):
No.

Speaker 2 (01:55:40):
At some point that's will you ever say, Lisa, I'm sorry,
the time has run out. Rick. She won't leave him
the next Christmas. She might know if it makes her happy. No,
but it brings your joy. I don't know. Maybe it
brings all of us joy. To think of it. I
like thinking that y'all still have them up, do you,
because you know somewhere it looks cozy. Well, I like
to be intertitting next to that tree. I'll get a

(01:56:01):
little get what the calendar says, I know, but play
a little Elvis Christmas music. What's you're talking about? Maybe
y'all go to Valentine's and y'all talk about how much
y'all sweet love each other in front of the tree,
and uh, maybe a romantic dinner that you may release
and go this weekend with taking treating with with that
tree in the background. Tell of the hours of us

(01:56:23):
taking it down. Do you have pictures of you guys
taking it down? Maybe y'all take it down with shirts
on that say it I'm his, I'm hurting. There you go,
h top of the hour.

Speaker 1 (01:56:36):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. God fearing and America
loving The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (01:56:55):
We're back Greg and Andler hanging out today and we're
having a blast. Speedy on a road trip. He'll be
back with us Lord Willig on Monday. Next week, Tuesday
and Friday, the first ever Vox Seats guest will be
here to watch the Rick Birds show. See the the

(01:57:18):
new decorative look that Adler put together looking sharp that'll
be coming up next week. I got to write that down,
didn't I got it right that time. I got it
right there, down about down about time. Finally, Rick, by
the way, I've noticed to Greg with you being on
Speedy's mic and you know his mic and my mic
a lot better. Actually have the what your mike needs.
You sound a lot better. Oh yeah, it's a huge different. Yeah,

(01:57:41):
So anybody talk with Tom? When when is that thing
coming in? We got to get Greg's mike, right, Rick,
you're on the tag, Say what Lisa's and what did Lisa?
All right? She send us on the tags. He's taking
a picture of the tree. Oh here it is. Look
it there. It says Happy Christmas Friday. Happy Christmas Friday, Lisa.

(01:58:01):
She says. She calls the tree big girl. By the way. Yeah,
she said, look at big girl. All it up with
joy anymore? And look at that beautiful tree. That's a
big one. You know what I do? Why I don't
know why it has to move. Let Christmas come a in. Okay,
Well it looks like that's what we're trying to do.
What's wrong with that girl? Well, let's just go with it.
Like I told you the other day, don't look a
gift to a tree in the mouth. I notice, though, she

(01:58:23):
quit plugging up the garland that goes up around the rails.
I don't know if you remember all that I do.
She quit plugging it up, so that may mean we're
gonna get that. Oh no, you our little pieces come
down one at a time. Yeah, well you know what.
I don't mind that. Yeah, no, that's not a bad
way to do it. But I'm telling you, if you
would leave them alone, you you miss one round of
putting it up in another round. Now that is a
great argument. Yeah, I just feel like a loser. Why

(01:58:46):
are you fucking loser? Well, I mean I've always made
fun of people. Now's a guy I used to work
with him one time. He was it was like the
end of February and he was talking about that they
need to get the tree down. I made fun of
him for about an hour. Oh okay, I thought back. Yeah,
I was thinking, can it be confusing through the green kits. Yeah. Now,
Papa le how come you still got Christmas up? Yeah? Well,

(01:59:07):
I don't know. The three older ones might pick it up.
Is Santa Claus coming again, Papa I'll see. Yeah, I
thought about that. Get their hopes upright.

Speaker 11 (01:59:14):
This is crazy, though, I mean, this is not like
Lisa to do this.

Speaker 2 (01:59:18):
No, she was normally, honestly, one time, I think on
Christmas afternoon she wanted to start taking stuff down one time.

Speaker 11 (01:59:25):
What's going on? I mean she depressed, I mean.

Speaker 2 (01:59:28):
Put so much into it this year, and she got
it up. She's like, I kind of like the way
that looks so because Greg coast to Christmas Eve and
well Lisa did. Yeah, Greg was you know, did whatever
she needed to do to get ready, and you did
a good job. She was outstanding. You like that mulch outside.
I thought it was fantastic. I nen't noticed it, but
you made me come look at it after all that.

(01:59:51):
Why is a Christmas tree look like it's hot? Papa
july Son? Well, anyway, look, I say leave it up.
But how about this, Lisa. You don't let anybody tell
you to take that down. Leave it as as long
as you want to. Girl, Did you leave it up

(02:00:12):
for us, Lee Lee, Yes, I did. Children. We love you,
Lee Lee. Maybe we'll hire out one of them. Santa Clauses,
come talk to the kids. Well, tell what y'are becoming.
Mister and missus Claus. I like it.

Speaker 11 (02:00:22):
You could get a discount. I bet now they don't
have as much work right right.

Speaker 2 (02:00:26):
Now, that's true, that's true. Where's our gifts at, Papa? Okay,
believe me gifts? Oh boy? All right, so Greg, I'm
sorry we're gonna have to hear from RFK Junior again.
Oh buddy, well this is you know, we're gonna have
a lot of him now that he's got this. Do
he get approved or not?

Speaker 11 (02:00:43):
Not yet?

Speaker 2 (02:00:44):
Process is starting.

Speaker 3 (02:00:45):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:00:46):
He goes off on Bernie Sanders and that's always fine.
Well that's good because Bernie was hollering at him. I
don't know who Bernie. Bernie is there behind the onesies.
I know what I would. All I have to do
is see the video of the onesiees thing. I go
with him. I'm losing it. I mean, are you behind
the warrs? So here goes RFK and he's had enough. Uh,

(02:01:06):
and I think we can understand him getting upset with
Bernie Sanders. So here, here we.

Speaker 11 (02:01:10):
Go, and he's gonna he's gonna change his story at
the very end of this cliff. It's going to go
from one thing to another. And Bernie Sanders is full
of it.

Speaker 2 (02:01:19):
Is full of it.

Speaker 12 (02:01:21):
I'm going to make America healthier than other countries in
the world.

Speaker 23 (02:01:24):
Right now, will you guarantee do what every other major countries.

Speaker 2 (02:01:29):
It's a simple question.

Speaker 12 (02:01:30):
And by the way, Ny he you know, the problem
of corruption is not just in the federal agents, is
in Congress too. Almost all the members of this panel
are accepting, including yourself, are accepting millions of dollars from
the pharmaceutical their interests.

Speaker 2 (02:01:53):
The president, like.

Speaker 23 (02:01:54):
You, I got millions, millions of contributions. They did not
come from the executives, not one nickel of pack money
from the pharmaceuticals, and they came twenty twenty.

Speaker 2 (02:02:07):
In twenty twenty, you were the single largest.

Speaker 23 (02:02:10):
Because I receive from minations from workers all over this country.

Speaker 2 (02:02:16):
Workers were not a nickel from corporate.

Speaker 12 (02:02:19):
It was the single largest pharmaceutical dollars.

Speaker 23 (02:02:23):
From workers in five million, yeah, out of two hundred million.

Speaker 2 (02:02:28):
All right, Oh, so you finally admitted it right at
the end.

Speaker 11 (02:02:32):
Not a nickel. And then he said, and in our
case is one point five million? He goes, yeah, out
of two hundred million.

Speaker 2 (02:02:37):
Yes, well so small percentage of the two hundred million.
But you could say one nickel and one point five million.
That's two different things.

Speaker 11 (02:02:46):
And he tried to change the story from the workers
of this country that's who donated to me.

Speaker 2 (02:02:51):
Workers tell you the workers have had enough. How about
how you keep looking after him? Why they voted for Trump?
Ebe all right? So here's Senator Mullen.

Speaker 1 (02:03:04):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:03:04):
And this is the thing that we've talked about this
a good bit on the show is that did he,
by the way, call back to Bernie. Did he call
him Robbie? I think think he tried to say, Bobby, okay, good.
It sounds like you said, Robbie, you may But anyway,
here's Senator Mullen and he we're talking about you know,
BARRFK Jr. And many others have tried to point to

(02:03:24):
this epidemic and he's gonna say pandemic here, But is
with the autism spectrum and that you know, there's that
there's got to be some kind of insult out there.
This is not occurring genetically, as that's been pointed out
many times, you can't have a genetic epidemic. Uh So, anyway,
here he is, he's gonna use the word pandemic, but

(02:03:45):
really probably the better word would be epidemic. But but
so here he is talking about agreeing. I guess with
with RFK Junior that that something is going on that
has to be changed. And here we go.

Speaker 24 (02:03:57):
Let's go back to this and say one, let's use
a number of one in ten thousand your age. Now
we're a little bit different in age. I'm not going
to say O old R. But you look great for
your age. I will I will say that one in
thirty six that's not a pandemic than what is one
in thirty six and it used to be one in

(02:04:19):
ten thousand have altism?

Speaker 2 (02:04:21):
Now can any of.

Speaker 24 (02:04:23):
You guys with the straight face say that we shouldn't
look at every aspect to what we're putting in our kids,
be it from the food to the vaccines. One in
thirty six that scares the living daylights out of me.
With six kids, I could have thirty six grandkids.

Speaker 2 (02:04:42):
I'm just doing the math.

Speaker 24 (02:04:44):
I'm think when youngest of seven my family seems to
be pretty active in that area. So I'm not necessarily
trying to be funny, but I'm being very serious.

Speaker 2 (02:04:54):
Guys.

Speaker 24 (02:04:54):
We should support the fact that Bobby's questioning that.

Speaker 11 (02:04:58):
He's not saying he's against it.

Speaker 24 (02:04:59):
He's saying he's want to question it and let the studies.

Speaker 2 (02:05:01):
Follow where they were where they will.

Speaker 24 (02:05:03):
And God bless you for doing that.

Speaker 2 (02:05:05):
That's right, that's just now, there's nothing wrong with asking
the question. By the way, I didn't rise it with
somebody on the video coughing. I looked over to you,
like you just coughing into mind. Greg, I'm sorry, Hurst.

Speaker 11 (02:05:16):
Your phone's going off now, just let it go, let
it keep happening.

Speaker 2 (02:05:21):
You can barely hear.

Speaker 11 (02:05:22):
It's fine.

Speaker 2 (02:05:23):
Is that your phone out here, Papa? Okay, I'll be
honest with the way Bobby Kennedy talks. I mean, I
think anything should be on there. Well, that's true. Little
cough don't sound nothing, I think, Greg. Let's stick with
the content. Okay, all right, so here is a senator.
Here we go talking about the science.

Speaker 11 (02:05:39):
Okay, this was more hysterics.

Speaker 2 (02:05:42):
Okay, here we go.

Speaker 25 (02:05:43):
Because sometimes science is wrong, we make progress, we build
on the work, and we've become more successful. And when
you continue to so doubt about settled science, it makes
it impossible for us.

Speaker 2 (02:05:59):
To settled science. I thought gender was settled science. Yeah,
that's an easy one. You're gonna lecture us about settled
science if we're supposed to accept science once we deem
it settled. I would disagree with what you're saying is settled.
But I think we all agreed that gender was settled. Yeah,

(02:06:21):
And if you're going to say that that's not settled,
then I'm sorry. You can't say any science is settled.
That one's as straightforward as you can get it. So,
but see, that's that deal again. We were also told
in the pandemic that many things were settled that were not.
We were told that man made climate change is settled.
It's not. So, you know, I just don't think the

(02:06:44):
left has any credibility on standing on top of the
phrase settled science. We'll take phone calls. Next America A
lot to discuss eight eight eight six, Big Box, We
chat with you.

Speaker 1 (02:06:58):
Next is the Rick Burgess Show. Get on the show.

(02:09:21):
Look under the sponsor's button to the phones. We go.
Let's go to Mike in beautiful Tennessee. Hey, Mike, go ahead, Hey,
good morning, Rick, Hey budd, Hey, y'all were talking.

Speaker 7 (02:09:33):
Y'all were talking earlier about you know, the female mind
and the silent treatment, all that kind of stuff. The
funny story about the female mind. One day I walked
into my dining room and my wife, my daughter, and
my granddaughter if sitting there and I'm just being old
big poppa, my boy, I'm surrounded by beautiful girls here
by my granddaughter. My five year old granddaughter says, Papa,

(02:09:54):
who do you think is pretty or me or grand
or mommy? Oh boy, and so I go, I go
into that line dissertation, you know about how important character
is versus self esteem and blah blah blah. Do when
I get done, they're all just sitting our son, I
mean my granddaughter said again, so who is pretty or papa?

Speaker 5 (02:10:12):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (02:10:13):
You couldn't get out around the room.

Speaker 11 (02:10:15):
Who they are?

Speaker 7 (02:10:15):
Please just stand? So I just walked out of the room.

Speaker 2 (02:10:21):
So that you just had nowhere to go. You talk
about being put in at noboddy No, but uh that's yeah, boy,
you were. You were better off just a walk out
of that room.

Speaker 5 (02:10:33):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:10:33):
We continue. Lines were opening up now too. If you
want to join us to go to Huntsville. Listening to
one hundred point three, there's Brian. Hey, Brian, how are
you doing, buddy?

Speaker 21 (02:10:41):
Mighty fine, good morning, gentlemen. And settled science is how
the unicorns went extinct, no resark. The two unicorns that
bordered one was male, one was male that identified as female.

Speaker 11 (02:10:52):
All right, Brian, that's funny.

Speaker 2 (02:10:55):
Okay, Uh, let's go to Jeremy out of the great
state of Mississippi. The lines are opening now at eight
eight eight six Big Vox Jeremy go ahead, all right, I.

Speaker 18 (02:11:07):
Want to know where the Birders Brothers land no classic country,
And with y'all's taste in music, where do y'all lean towards?
Like when you want to listen to worship music, is
it like Brandon Lake or Crowder or like who do
you mainly go towards?

Speaker 2 (02:11:21):
Well, honestly, this has been a road for me, and
I know some of you will be birch, you've let
us down, And I agree. I didn't really have any
interest in country music at all until maybe the last
ten years of my life, and so I don't have
a lot of history with country music. But I tend

(02:11:42):
to lean and this is not surprising. I tend to
like Chris Stapleton. Would be somebody who's modern that I
would probably say, if you want me to land somewhere,
it'd be him. I do love Hank Williams Senior. I mean,
I think some of the songs that Hank Williams wrote
were just incredible. I mean, it doesn't get Sherry and

(02:12:05):
I were talking about this one day at home. We
just sat down and listened to the lyrics of I'm
So Lonesome I could cry. It's just I mean brilliant, right, yeah,
brilliant writing. So so Hank Williams would probably be as
far as classic country. I tell you, I can't think
you of the young man's name that wrote something in
the Orange. I think he's fantastic. Yeah yeah, yeah, you

(02:12:30):
really really good. So do you see something in that area?
Is where I would land worship music. I absolutely love
Crowder Crowder is is fantastic. So you hit that, yeah,
I would definitely go there. I like, you know, with
a little different feel, but just I like to how
good he is at putting together something worshipful. I like

(02:12:51):
Chris Tomlin and I also like Toby Mack, you know
which is So those are three different genres, but I
like all three of them. Also, I really enjoy listening
to to something that that is really really powerful, like
I think one of the greatest, and I've heard different
people doing it, including Adler's dad that does an arrangement

(02:13:14):
of Lord You're Holy that I have never ceases. Every
time that Michael Adler's version or arrangement of Lord Your
Holy is performed by a choir, it always brings me
into the presence of the Lord and usually breaks me down.
It breaks me down to the point that I'm like,
how could I ever sin against God? Uh? And so

(02:13:36):
so those are some some that that I go to
quite a bit and enjoy and uh and love those
so and I love you know, I love the Revelation
song very very much too. So so right in there,
did that kind of answer your question?

Speaker 5 (02:13:52):
Oh yeah, it is.

Speaker 18 (02:13:56):
My tend to go to what I got a background,
and you know, I play guitar. I'm landing toward more
like Crowder Brandon Lake. I really like Brandon to do.
His live album is amazing.

Speaker 2 (02:14:10):
Yeah, all of that is is great. I agree with you.
Chris in Alabama, Chris, go ahead.

Speaker 26 (02:14:15):
How's it going, Rick Burd it's good. Well, you say
you're not O c D. So every time you say
you're O c D. I think we should spin the wheel.

Speaker 2 (02:14:29):
Yeah, I see what you're doing. Jerry in Alabama, Jerry
go ahead.

Speaker 5 (02:14:35):
Hey, hey body, Jerry, No Ken Gary, you say me?

Speaker 2 (02:14:40):
I got you? Yeah, come on, come on.

Speaker 5 (02:14:43):
I'm I'm singing sism and I have low visions, real
low and I still have a singor center. And there's
a girl in there. I'm married, man happy. There's a
girl in there. She's real pretty. And if I I
want to look at anybody, I have to get real
close to Yeah, and so I got real close up

(02:15:06):
to a face. I'm gonna have to get real close.

Speaker 2 (02:15:10):
Got it?

Speaker 15 (02:15:10):
She pops?

Speaker 5 (02:15:12):
She slapped me. I thank you thought I could kiss her?

Speaker 2 (02:15:19):
Greg did you bring that? Did you? Did you throw
that to me?

Speaker 9 (02:15:23):
What?

Speaker 27 (02:15:23):
What?

Speaker 2 (02:15:23):
What have I done? What have I done to you?

Speaker 1 (02:15:26):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. The truth needs no apology,
The Rick Burgers Show.

Speaker 2 (02:15:49):
Here we go. Thanks for being with us. So we
are moving through another day, and we are hitting multiple
topics today and as as is the norm, and you
can weigh in on it, and a lot of you
doing that by texts when we go to the phones
you're there. Thank you for some great stuff today. You're

(02:16:09):
really generating some great questions and thanks for all the
suggestions on music too. Somebody did mention King and Country
and there. They are really good. And we're gonna get
an opportunity to bring a young man on the show
here pretty soon. Speaking of country music, I think it's
going somewhere. U Ben got a chance to meet him,
talk to him, so that'll be an opportunity as well.
Also from the text line, somebody when we mentioned the

(02:16:33):
thing about this really epidemic of the autism spectrum and
we mentioned something about genetics, and they're like, well, you're
showing your boas there's a genetic element to it. Where
I would agree with you and disagree, I do think
it's a combination of the two. There's no doubt there
are people that are that are autistic in it. It

(02:16:54):
is a genetic component there, but that that's not we're
talking about. But it also it is also equally scientifically
impossible to have a genetic epidemic that that isn't possible.
So the fact that it's gotten to the numbers that
now are you know, to the epidemic level one in
thirty six, there is likely also an insult that has

(02:17:16):
driven those numbers up mixed in with those that it
is genetic. So I would disagree that every single person
in the autism spectrum has a genetic component, but I
will concede that that there definitely are some, no doubt.
So so that's where you and I would would would
would disagree a little. I'm not saying that everybody in

(02:17:38):
that spectrum, all of them is some sort of insult
and none of it is genetic. No, I didn't didn't
say that. What I am saying is it can't be
all genetic because you wouldn't have these kind of numbers.
That's not possible. All right, So let's let's go to
what has become. And I wonder if we don't need
to get theme music. It's becoming more and more popular,
and that is Rick checks his office voicemail. Yeah, now,

(02:18:02):
I will go ahead and tell some of you this,
and this is something you have to understand. Some of
you are generating some good questions, like the other day,
and that's fine. I will caution you on one thing.
We tend to go to the genuine article. Yeah, you
know if it was another thing completely fabricating something. Yeah. Yeah,
And sometimes you can be on there and like the

(02:18:24):
other day when you said Rix's gonna be the only one,
and he was talking about that his new son in
law is going to be a marine but he found
that he's in a marine band. That's fine, that's funny. Yeah,
that's just somebody coming up with a good question. But
let me tell you. One of the things that I
always raise is just a little bit of a caution flag.
And Greg, well, I'll try to I'll try to keep
from releasing me cracking right here. So I do have
one I wanted to listen to today. But if you start

(02:18:48):
your voicemail, are your phone call, and you'll see out
of the raise up on this too, and you say
to us that this is going to be great. Yeah, boy,
expectations then went up, and then most time it goes
up way up. Hey, hey, let me tell you, I
know you're gonna play this one. Yeah, back when on

(02:19:10):
the Rick and Bubba Show when we did phone trolls, Hey,
I know I want to get a time out. Yeah,
you gotta be careful making those kinds of statements. It usually,
honestly makes a skill that probably not yeah right, it
makes it because normally yeah, so, you know, and trying
to be characters and stuff that can be fun if
you're good at it. But there's nothing quite like the

(02:19:30):
genuine article. The genuine article is always the best. You know,
Like Gary, he's he's the genuine art. He's not pretending.
It's just who I am and what I don't even
have to be on the show. Of course, they where
I go, people ask when he's coming back, you know,
because he does look like a character. Somebody would come
up with. But I promise you when you're with Gary
Owner off the air, that's Gary exactly the same people
saying I should play hip to be square just to

(02:19:53):
bother you as the thing using all right, here we
go the hip to be Valentine's Day is coming. Uh
we have and this is an interesting request from my office.
Now don't ever miss this. This is not somebody calling
the show. These are people that leave messages on my
office voicemail. Yes okay, on the on the office number,
which you know most businesses would keep that business only

(02:20:16):
they would, of course not us. So here here we go,
and I look forward to this great I want from you.

Speaker 9 (02:20:22):
Good Hello, Rick, good evening. This is Billy. We spelled
business sippy and that was a foreigny. If you and
the team to help me find a girlfriend this Valentine's
season could warm my heart and my soul and respect

(02:20:46):
and hopefully she's not a Alabama fab he asked. That
was or Chris aways. I love this new show. Thank
you being God bless and you and and please help
my life right again. And by the way, I am
bold like speedy.

Speaker 2 (02:21:09):
Ending with our like speedy. First of all, the voice
is hard to fall. Yeah, and it may be that.
It may be there's a challenge that sounded now give
me was he he's wanted us to find him a
girlfriend right now? What he says? You don't have to
be Alabama something he did? He say, I don't want
her to be an Alabama fan. She's not an Alabama

(02:21:30):
I think hopefully she's not an Alabama fan. I got you,
So that's out. Uh, And you know, us finding your
girlfriend is an interesting request that this bunch would try
to find your girlfriend. You know, it's I.

Speaker 11 (02:21:46):
Don't know if I needs to be picking and choosing,
Like he could probably just say Alabama fans are okay.
I don't think he's in the situation.

Speaker 2 (02:21:52):
Well, you never know. I mean, if if you're saying
you want your heart to be warm again, I'm with you.
I would cast my net wide. Absolutely, Yeah, I would not.
I don't think i'd take anybody out of there. You
can learn to live with Alabama fans. It's not easy,
but I mean, but you absolutely can do it. And
I feel like after that call, I'm sure the women
are lining up. They are wanting to know this guy

(02:22:12):
a little better. Yeah, sou was his name. See what
he's done. And this is why Adler warned, you call her.
I think his name is Billy. Here here's here's where
the driver's life. Yeah, well look right here. So he
he doesn't want a winner for a girlfriend. You see
what started. That's funny, you see what started? So now,
oh so you want him to get a heifer from Auburn?

(02:22:33):
You see there goes here, we go, there, we go.

Speaker 9 (02:22:37):
There we heard.

Speaker 2 (02:22:38):
That's the only thing they heard. Someone says, their questioning
whether it's the genuine article, Greg, this is your area
to uh, you know, I'm not. I'm still out on that. Okay,
at times seemed real and then at times not. If
it's not, he's really good at doing it. I'll say that.
So you you don't sound fake right now? Could right

(02:23:00):
now you would lean genuine article? I think all the
way in I'm open to it. But I got to
hear a few more than a little bit of the material.
You know, the Battlabama fan thing. Maybe you know right,
but someone said, I've been married to an Alabama fan
for thirty years. Please tell him my heart is warm.
Oh boy, but he's good enough that I say, yeah,

(02:23:22):
you know, he's good enough to play right, so we also, uh,
he's tried it again. Show Hunt Jack has tried it again.
Now remember he did what was it to a little
peace song? Vote Trump? Yeah? And it and it was
not great? Now it wasn't bad though? Wow? Who were
he good?

Speaker 3 (02:23:41):
Hello?

Speaker 2 (02:23:41):
Well when he messed up, had to start over say
stuff like that is what I And isn't he calling
you saying that he gets nervous? He said that he
had another one in there and uh now his are
pre produced? But I will say this show Hunt Jack
has been show Hunt Jack from the beginning. You know
what I'm saying, character or whatever you want trying? Yeah,
I want him try again because he tell me he

(02:24:02):
gets nervous, and to me, that leads to gold. All right,
so he's on my voicemail again.

Speaker 3 (02:24:08):
There are no more vought seats.

Speaker 15 (02:24:10):
I bump him all That's why I'm on Rick's voicemail. Hi,
this is show Hunt Jack. Have sure ego been damaged
by Rick or Greg making fun of your teeth, ears,
or nose or maybe Speedy has damaged your ego by
making fun of the way you talk? They call me
Rick Burgess because it's still will to me.

Speaker 2 (02:24:34):
Why was it the okay, all right, so are we
ready to go? Are we ready to say this? To
show hunt Jack? Your rhythm is being show Hunt Jack.
Stay right there? Yeah, you wanted to go hunting, you
want to be in the camp. I got left out again.

(02:24:56):
I still waiting to go down. Yeah, I think I
don't think. I don't think he needs to venture into
trying other characters. Yeah. Do you you know like he
did the song now that was a commercial, obviously a commercial,
and that still stayed in the hunt theme. This is
a total he's totally left it now and he's trying
to hate impression of a lawyer. In fact, his earlier song,

(02:25:16):
I actually thought it was funny, right, Yeah, I just Jack,
just be careful. I mean, you start to keep him coming.
I'm not sure I like the road he's one right now.
You know you can't. You got to leave, you know,
he is. He's that. He's that comedic actor that tried
to do a dramatic road to get an oscar and
nobody liked it. But he Uh but when he runs
this thing about wanting to go hunt with you and

(02:25:37):
you won't let him go, I think that's fun. That's
the bat. I think that's funny. Maybe write a song
about that. Yeah, I don't. I don't. I don't think
that was it. They adventured awful of them. Yeah. So anyway,
ladies said, there's a one for you if you're looking
for a boyfriend. Really out of Mississippi. Sounds like a
good one. Yeah, show hunt Jack, that one, that one

(02:25:59):
was great. Yeah, yeah, I was a little worried. He
said he was his name was Jack, not showing that I.

Speaker 1 (02:26:05):
Know what This is the Rick Burgess show, blood catching

(02:26:29):
from the Wick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (02:26:35):
Here we go, Well, a good point textures again. So
he somebody says Gary is just Gary, but I do
believe he's far more intelligent and manipulative than people than
he lets on. Two weeks ago, he said he we
wanted to give away a hunt with him. By the

(02:26:56):
end of the segment, he was basically interviewing people that
would take him hunting on their property and shoot their turkeys.
That did work out for it. That's pretty good. That
was good.

Speaker 5 (02:27:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:27:06):
I mean, I ain't gonna take you where I hunt.
I mean I want to know about it. I mean
I'll guide you on your own place, you know, put
you in a turkey somewhere so uh so we will
we will see. Hey, it's it's will to make spinning.

Speaker 3 (02:27:21):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:27:21):
That was all right, So a couple of things to discuss,
uh in the sports world today. Here's now we we
Yesterday Stephen A. Smith was telling Lebron James from from
one father to another father, you got to stop this
brownie thing acting like that he's NBA quality when he's

(02:27:43):
not and it's not good and so so what happens
herever he tried to he obviously you heard that. Did
he get there and tried to be tough?

Speaker 5 (02:27:52):
So?

Speaker 11 (02:27:52):
Uh? Yeah, he actually scored a point here, a little
little little and one action here. Okay, right after Brownie
score is this point they cut the camera to Lebron
James and you can just see the relief and joy
and pride in his face. He'll go with Jack sole
Bronny's dribbling down. That's him. He's driving in the basket.

(02:28:14):
Nice little layup and one oay.

Speaker 2 (02:28:19):
You know in basketball, when you get a bugget, it's two.

Speaker 11 (02:28:20):
Points it is right and one for the foul.

Speaker 2 (02:28:24):
Okay, I got you? Okay, good so well, and everybody's
proud of him, even though the Lakers are way up
in this game.

Speaker 11 (02:28:30):
Yes, yes, and Lebron James needed that so bad?

Speaker 2 (02:28:34):
Is he not dressed you know what?

Speaker 11 (02:28:36):
He might not have been playing, or maybe he just
had his warm ups on or something.

Speaker 2 (02:28:40):
Maybe he's putting them back on.

Speaker 11 (02:28:41):
A nice little player from le uh from Bronni there
Lebron's son, and he made the and he made the
free throw that he got afterward with the with the
whatever the fowl there and uh, Lebron is just pumped.
He is just smiling.

Speaker 2 (02:28:56):
He's like, yeah, man, does that make you that warm
your heart?

Speaker 11 (02:29:00):
I kind of I needed that after hearing stephen A
just rip.

Speaker 2 (02:29:02):
The guys calm down.

Speaker 11 (02:29:04):
Well, the he's turning it around.

Speaker 2 (02:29:09):
Greg is turning it around.

Speaker 11 (02:29:10):
He's not embarrassing the league and his family anymore.

Speaker 2 (02:29:12):
Okay, I didn't realize that Admirable be so invested in
this narrative. I mean, guy, I didn't know that.

Speaker 11 (02:29:20):
What's his name, Colin cow Heard is that his name?
And he's blaming Lebron for the downfall of the whole NBA,
all their viewership and everything. He says, we have to
pretend like Brownnie is capable of playing in the NBA.
That's hurting the league. Oh, we're getting crazy now.

Speaker 2 (02:29:34):
Everybody's getting me.

Speaker 11 (02:29:35):
Everybody's piling on.

Speaker 2 (02:29:36):
Well, he's got two points, so pretty much shut that
that shut.

Speaker 11 (02:29:40):
That lay up in a foul.

Speaker 2 (02:29:43):
Uh and that hey that laugh he hit to Nobody
in the NBA can do that, right, special Julian Edelman,
where are you? Greg? On the Steelers Mike Tomlin. People
say that they've they've left in there too long. He's
been there a long time. They're saying he had some runs,
but it's been a long time since the Steelers are good.
Ye had Bill Cower and then he's been there ever since.

(02:30:05):
So uh, Julian Edelman is going to be critical of
Tomlin saying that he was Edlman doing that you say,
make everybody is now Greg?

Speaker 5 (02:30:14):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (02:30:15):
And I think he's been critical saying you don't seem
to make any adjustments in a ball game on defense.

Speaker 11 (02:30:21):
Yes, yeah, And I thought this was very interesting talking
a little x's and o's, you know, you like that
kind of stuff. Edelman's on a podcast here, and I've
cut through this first sentence because Edelman says they're still
doing the same gosh darn stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:30:34):
Oh you know what I mean?

Speaker 11 (02:30:36):
Yeah, as Tomlin's always done. So here here's Edelman.

Speaker 16 (02:30:40):
Then when I was playing Tomlin's defense Steelers football, I'm like,
what the we still have linebackers covering the three slot
every time he plays Steelers, I have at least nine catches.

Speaker 11 (02:30:51):
You think that they would change it, right, No, but
they do what they do. That's not good. That's not good.

Speaker 2 (02:30:57):
Well. Yeah, one of the things that always amazes me
with great coaches. And I don't know enough about it
to be critical or supportive of Tomlin, but he does
look like the kind of guy like to play for
though that was he got a couple of Super Bowls. Yeah, yeah.
So But when I when I when I see these
great coaches, and I love when it happens. Have you

(02:31:18):
ever been watching a game and it looks like that
the defense on one team could is never going to
be able to stop the offense. I mean, it looks
like the offense is going to score, and then they
get to halftime and all of a sudden, they come
out in the third quarter in the offense cannot move
the ball up against that defense, and they make adjustments,
and when they make these masterful adjustments, and all of

(02:31:39):
a sudden, the offense that looks like it could not
be stopped. Suddenly can't get anything going. To me, that's
always impressive to see the absence and the great ones
can do it. They're just trying to get the halftime.
They're like, if we can stay close and get us
to halftime, I'll get us back in this game because
they make adjustments. And I guess he's saying he doesn't
think in his own opinion, that the Steelers make any

(02:31:59):
adjustments on defense even when it's not working.

Speaker 11 (02:32:02):
Tomlin won two Super Bowls, but one as an assistant
coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and then as a
head coach with the Steelers.

Speaker 2 (02:32:11):
I thought in one too, thought, I guess I think
they got beating one with him, didn't they get there?

Speaker 11 (02:32:16):
That's right, Ben too?

Speaker 2 (02:32:18):
Yeah, Ben, Yeah, now we have you know, and with
Speedy gone, this is great. We can do it. We're
going to talk about golf a little bit. You know.
If Speedy, we's got to call him by the first name. Yeah,
so we can't say Roy McElroy with his first name.
If you're really a part of it. Okay, So this
is a hold in one here, yes, And I always
like to see a hole in one that's that's incredible, Rory.

Speaker 11 (02:32:40):
You can actually see the uh what is it, the pen,
the flag?

Speaker 2 (02:32:43):
Whatever?

Speaker 11 (02:32:44):
Gosh, that is one hundred and nineteen yards away.

Speaker 2 (02:32:48):
Okay, so more than a sho We have just waited
till Speedy came back to do this story. Yeah, okay,
all right, here we go, one nineteen one twelve down
the hill.

Speaker 28 (02:32:58):
That's not a good line.

Speaker 11 (02:33:03):
Dunkedlieb it going like a three point shot. He dunked, Yeah,
like it straight in.

Speaker 2 (02:33:09):
It never hit the green, went right in the hole. No,
you know who did it, don't you?

Speaker 5 (02:33:18):
You know?

Speaker 2 (02:33:18):
Rory?

Speaker 11 (02:33:19):
R So he and his wife end up getting back together.

Speaker 2 (02:33:25):
That yeah, so yeah, go ahead and bring that up. Man,
got a hold on one. Yes, sorry, right, and we
were still crap all over your moment. Yeah, sorry, if
you couldn't let him enjoy that, just maybe another second? Yeah,
I mean Rory for goodness, Yeah that's true. Yeah. Why

(02:33:47):
did the golf people call him all by the first Tiger? Yeah? Rory? Right? Yeah? Phil?
Really did they? Yeah? I've never picked up on that.
That's all I'm gonna hear. Now, Ye, Speeded does it,
and there's nothing wrong with it. It does. Yeah, when
they would discuss golf. They used first names. Oh no,
he's listening. Speedy's Listening's our comment. Tell him great shot

(02:34:11):
by Rory. Hey, Speedy, you missed the shot by Rory
hold in one Speedy letting, I mean adder, let him
enjoy it for back four seconds?

Speaker 11 (02:34:19):
Yeah, should have gone.

Speaker 2 (02:34:20):
He brought up all the other yeah right, all right,
and then I saw that coming all the way textures.
So uh oh Rory, Rory, Okay, good right, Controy right,
So we we Uh that's about all we got today
Home Sports and Rodny got three points. We're trying to

(02:34:43):
get the NBA. Let's just be honest. We're trying to
get to the super Bowl. I'm sorry, the Big Game.

Speaker 16 (02:34:49):
Oh yeah, I can't say super Bowl, Big Games.

Speaker 2 (02:34:53):
Somebody's gonna put a copyright on it. Big game.

Speaker 11 (02:34:57):
That's insane. Don't talk about our men, don't.

Speaker 2 (02:35:01):
Don't miss it, don't don't use it. What is actually
is called.

Speaker 11 (02:35:03):
Don't promote it. That's insane.

Speaker 2 (02:35:06):
Top of the hour.

Speaker 1 (02:35:11):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Big Box Entertainment presents
The Rick Burgess Show with Speedy, Greg Burgess, Edie Van Adler,

(02:35:38):
and Rick Burges.

Speaker 2 (02:35:41):
So here we go, and this is a brand new hour.
I'm glad you're here. Speedy out today. Should should be
back on Monday.

Speaker 11 (02:35:46):
He was here earlier.

Speaker 2 (02:35:47):
But so if you want to go back and catch
the archives today, anything you missed, it'll be there. Speedy
and Addler and I are hanging out and uh we
look forward to visiting with you for another hour. And
know Greg and I are headed to camp house do
a little dearer huntings. But we'll focus, I promise we'll
we'll let we'll put our chest out and we'll hit
the line going full speed. People concerned that Greg would

(02:36:11):
accuse Adler of ruining someone's moment, why don't you stay
out of the let me talk about ruining people's moment conversation. Yeah,
that's uh, I can see that. Yeah, that's yeah, that's
fair that that that is Come on, great, we're better
than that. So some other things to let you in on.

(02:36:31):
So if you're just now joining us, I mentioned the archives,
that we've talked about, the latest on the horrible plane crash,
we've hit that, We've gone through a number of things
inside our own lives. You certainly want to go back
if you miss Speedy talking about boarding these dogs that
he's having to deal with for this road trip he's on.
Do not miss that segment that was back in the

(02:36:52):
first hour today. So remember anytime you miss any of
the show, there's always archives available for you and you
can grab those on our podcast channel, our a YouTube
channel if you miss something live, and you can do
that on your own time. Also, if you're gonna be
with us today eight eight eight six big box, you
can text eight eight eight six two four four eight

(02:37:12):
six nine. In our website is Rick Burgessshow dot com.
I did have someone reach out you're traveling and you're
trying to, you know, get with figure out if there's
any radio affiliates where you're traveling, and you're saying, I
don't see a list on the website. And the reason
why we didn't do that with the new website is
in the past it was really just kind of nightmarish.

(02:37:34):
There's so many fluctuations on Sometimes stations coming go, sometimes
they change their slogan, you know. Sometimes a station you
know is no longer carrying the show, but they're still
running our inventory to fulfill their contract, so it shows
them on there, but yet you still can't get the
show there. There's just too many variations on the radio network.

(02:37:54):
So this time we put the option there if you
would like to specifically see if there's a station near you,
there's actually a contact that you can an email you
can use to find out and then they'll let you know.
So that's just a better way to do it now.
It was too difficult the other way to keep it accurate,
and really it became a very kind of annoying thing

(02:38:17):
to even try to do it. It's hard, it is.
So as we start the hour, do want to point
you to a couple of things that are still happening ladies.
First off, Sherry's in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, tomorrow, my wife, she'll
be speaking at the women's event there. It's a brunch
and if you want to go see her, there's still
some seats available. They're saying they'll even probably have some
tickets still available at the door, or you can go

(02:38:39):
ahead and get it done and use the link at
Burgessmanistries dot com. You're in for a treat all of
you that are going to that tonight. On the men's
ministry side, Brian Gunn is in Hampton, Arkansas, Hampton First
Baptist Church tonight they kick off the Man Church strategy.
So if you want to be part of that over
in Hampton, Arkansas, be with them tomorrow Nightation Church in Bestsemer, Alabama.

(02:39:02):
Gil McKee will be there for their next Man Church.
They're in the Birmingham area, so you can find that
at the manchurch dot Com under upcoming events. I know
when you think about the value of things, and Greg,
I've heard you ran on this before and I can't
argue against it. I think one of the more perplexing
values is when people place a value on a painting,

(02:39:25):
a worker of art. Yeah, trying to figure out and
I know I'm not I don't know enough about it.
I know you'll say, well, I tell you what something's worth,
what somebody's willing to pay for it. True, true, And
you find that out with your house. I don't know
if you've ever had this conversation before with people. Well,
I tell you what my house is worth, and they'll
tell you what it apprais for. But that's not what
it's worth. It's worth what somebody can pay. We'll pay
for it.

Speaker 15 (02:39:46):
Now.

Speaker 2 (02:39:46):
If you want to get a loan on your mortgage,
then the appraisal will help you. You want a second mortgage,
you know, an equity line off the equity you have
in the house. But when you sell your house, your
house is worth what people will pay for it. Sometimes
there has been cases when people offer more because they
want more than someone else. It's just like anything else.
He goes up and down. Yeah, sometimes it can work

(02:40:07):
in your face. Yeah, but we have this ongoing story,
and this has been going on a while. But you know,
whether we understand how they value these things or not,
Van go original van goes are worth a lot of money.
And again, is he one of these where they came
them abstract or does he actually do painting? He just
he's got the ones, Okay, the ones I can't handle

(02:40:29):
are the ones that like monkeys were throwing paint at
it right now? Well now, keeping yeah, van Go would
would do some stuff like that. But my grandchildren, I
think you do that. That's van Go starry starry name.
I mean, I'm not prayer. I think the guy does
Alabama stuff does better than that. Excuse me, Daniel Moore?
You think Daniel Moore, who painted the goal line stand

(02:40:50):
for the University of Alabama is a is a better
painter than van Go. If I had to buy a painting,
and those are my choices. I'm going with Okay with
Alabama guy. Okay, fine, Okay, Greg, that doesn't surprise me.
And I understand where you're coming from it. Just you
know what I'm saying. No, I know what you mean.

Speaker 5 (02:41:07):
Greg.

Speaker 2 (02:41:08):
You want something that looks like what it is? Okay,
that's a little better. Yes? Is that one that's a
van Go?

Speaker 11 (02:41:13):
That's self portrait a kind of.

Speaker 2 (02:41:15):
I mean, have you seen this one in Minnesota? So
there was a painting that was bought at a garage
cell in Minnesota. It was previously unknown portrait by Dutch artists.
They believe Vincent van God, according to a newly published
expert analysis. And I want you to think about this.
You go in Minnesota to a dog on garage cell

(02:41:36):
and you buy a van Go and you don't even
know it. Okay, but people are now saying that they believe.
And you remember this, he had some issues that Van
God did this during his stay at a psychiatric hospital
in south of France in eighteen eighty nine. Didn't he
wag his ear off or something? Yes he did, he did.

Speaker 3 (02:41:54):
Greg.

Speaker 2 (02:41:55):
They usually don't report it that way in history, but
they should because that's what he did. So he commissioned
this hair. Yeah, they commissioned an art research group, an
international group, to analyze the canvas, weave, the paint, pigment,
and other characteristics acquired by an antique collector in twenty sixteen.

(02:42:17):
The painting does bear an an inscription of the word
Elamar in the bottom right hand corner, and they talked
about how measures and all this. So they also found
a hair embedded in the canvas. They sent it to
be analyzed. They're looking to see what they were trying
to do with that is say, we have DNA, we

(02:42:38):
have some of van Goeh's families DNA. Let's see if
this matches that DNA. But unfortunately they said the hair eye.
I didn't realize that a hair could be too old
or something and didn't go live a long time ago.
Also said there was a piece of an ear on it.
Think they didn't say that it is right, but they
said it was a human male. But they couldn't match

(02:42:59):
the to van go because they said it was in
such a degraded state. However, they are using modern day
science and technology and they're saying that they continue to
do what they think is enough. But they said the
painting still needs to be attributed to Van Go by
the Vang Museum in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The museum

(02:43:23):
had refused to attribute it to Van Go when approached
by the owner who had it in twenty eighteen. However,
this global bunch they got it in twenty nineteen. They
are confident that it is genuine. Still has it been
made official? How much is it gonna be worth? It
doesn't say a lot, it says it's well known that

(02:43:45):
Van Go lost many of his works, gave away the
works to friends, was not particularly careful about any work
he considered a study, of which there were many, meaning
he never saw value to his painting like they would
go on to be. So he'd give them out, give
them away, lose them. And so they're saying little painting.

(02:44:06):
He had two psychotic episodes. Yeah, they think it was
caused by alcohol withdrawal following and all that. And those
pictures look like a drunk pain in them, right, thank you, Greg.
That's usually what not not what people say about his
artistic ability.

Speaker 11 (02:44:22):
I was reading that the at the garage sale it
was bought for fifty bucks. And if it is a
legitimate Van go, it could be worth fifteen million.

Speaker 2 (02:44:30):
That is correct. Whoa, whoa.

Speaker 11 (02:44:33):
That would never happen to me.

Speaker 2 (02:44:35):
That's quite a fifty dollars investment. Never happened, Never happened.
Here's what would happen to me. I would pay fifteen
million to be told it's worth fifty dollars.

Speaker 11 (02:44:43):
Yes, sorry, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (02:44:45):
That ismonally? That will go for me. Would you think
you got a man?

Speaker 5 (02:44:50):
Go?

Speaker 2 (02:44:50):
Yeah, I'll pay fifteen million for it. That's a man
Larry Kmart local humor.

Speaker 18 (02:45:03):
But it was great.

Speaker 2 (02:45:04):
We'll be back. More of the Rick Burgess Show coming up.

Speaker 3 (02:45:08):
Next to.

Speaker 1 (02:45:10):
This is the Rick Burgess showing that the only show

(02:45:31):
hosted by an Oxford graduates, well Oxford High School, The
Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (02:45:41):
Here we go, thanks for being with us as we
moved through another day together. We're glad you're here.

Speaker 5 (02:45:49):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:45:49):
So here's somebody they're saying that here just to kind
of give a reference point on vang uh, they're saying
that the irises Greg Courch, you're familiar with that one
sold for fourteen million dollars at auction, So that gives
you a kind of idea where his paintings are. Good night,

(02:46:10):
fourteen million dollars and an auction. Greg just went on record,
I'd rather have the dogs playing poker. Yeah, that's a
that's a classic.

Speaker 11 (02:46:19):
That's art.

Speaker 2 (02:46:21):
That that's a class. And you say it is art
because it actually looks like dogs. Yeah, it looks the
carle Right, you.

Speaker 11 (02:46:30):
Know this art world is it is.

Speaker 2 (02:46:34):
Look at how they use their colors, y'all right, it's important.

Speaker 11 (02:46:39):
The there's a lot of talk about how it's one
of the least regulated areas and how you can buy
a piece of art for say one hundred thousand dollars,
and then you can get it reappraised and now it's
worth you know, four million, and then you can donate
that to a museum and then you have a four

(02:47:01):
hundred or a four million dollar right off. So you
can see how they.

Speaker 2 (02:47:04):
Just created, you knowing about they.

Speaker 11 (02:47:07):
Just created a four million dollar right off for their
rich friends as they you know.

Speaker 2 (02:47:11):
Wow, look at you. This is like outside the ring.
But yeah, yeah, even though he was a talent side
of the rings, right, you're right, even though he was
a talented cat, he's one of the many that like
his his art didn't really produce any value to He
was like fifty years dead.

Speaker 11 (02:47:28):
Yeah, and he dieing like a gutter or something.

Speaker 2 (02:47:31):
It was bad. Yeah, actually you got him in a gutter.

Speaker 11 (02:47:34):
He died in the gutter.

Speaker 2 (02:47:35):
I think you're talking about it.

Speaker 11 (02:47:39):
That's probably what it is.

Speaker 2 (02:47:40):
It's different. That was a weird dude boy. Yeah, went
a painter. But was it poet? If the Ravens quoting anything,
get some help, Traine, get some help. And I told
I told Greg so when I was hot rocking DJ.
Yeah you may have heard of it. You may have
heard of it.

Speaker 11 (02:47:58):
You know, gosh what van Go his depression? He shot
himself in the chest with a revolver.

Speaker 2 (02:48:05):
Well, thanks for going to Thanks.

Speaker 11 (02:48:10):
Yea, so it wasn't a gutter, Yeah, sure, be sure
and do.

Speaker 2 (02:48:13):
It where where we're doing the show. It's raining and
dreary outside.

Speaker 5 (02:48:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:48:16):
Thanks.

Speaker 11 (02:48:18):
I took Ruby and my wife to the Van Go experience.
Remember when that came to.

Speaker 2 (02:48:22):
I went to it was why did we go to that?
Because she wanted to? I mean, what is Christmas decoration?
Still love the same thing? Okay, all right, we're.

Speaker 11 (02:48:30):
Not sure and I didn't know how it was going
to be. And I was able to stay for a
total of ten minutes because it was this weird like
room that was filled with projectors. Rick you went to,
I went to.

Speaker 2 (02:48:46):
The kids wanted to say that.

Speaker 11 (02:48:47):
The projectors were shining everywhere. So you were like in the.

Speaker 2 (02:48:50):
Point and take small kids.

Speaker 11 (02:48:51):
That was a mistake. Seriously, for ten minutes, it's.

Speaker 2 (02:48:57):
Not sell going. I didn't know what this guy's thinking.

Speaker 11 (02:49:01):
No, people can't look at van Go and it was
not good guys?

Speaker 2 (02:49:06):
Is that a puppet show?

Speaker 3 (02:49:07):
Daddy?

Speaker 11 (02:49:07):
I literally got asked to leave like one of the
ladies that was.

Speaker 2 (02:49:12):
They asked you to leave.

Speaker 11 (02:49:13):
Yeah, Ruby was like running around screaming.

Speaker 2 (02:49:15):
So yeah, you thought taking small kids to the van
Go exhibit was the right call? It was made usion. Wow.

Speaker 11 (02:49:25):
Yeah, drove Downtown Park, Downtown, paid, went in, stayed for
ten minutes.

Speaker 2 (02:49:30):
I told you it was even there. How did you
hear it? Our wife? That's my wife tell me I
was there too. Yeah, I would have been like Ruby
running around being loud. Have you ever have you ever
seen something like and you think to yourself, like they
do these alerts or whatever. Now, have you ever like
seen something you go, if my wife sees that I'm
going that and you try to keep her from seeing,

(02:49:50):
Oh absolutely Yeah, And then and then some goofy so
called friend will tell her. Yeah, you know what I mean.
I had just so and so gave you ever write
the Van Go? Think who said that? No, I haven't
heard of it. Gone you Benny Rose. Since we're talking
about it, how was your experience?

Speaker 18 (02:50:10):
Well?

Speaker 2 (02:50:10):
It was beautiful? Yeah today I was grown, Greg, Yeah,
but I know I read about Van Go. It was
fascinating care one. My wife and I sat there in
the beauty of his art and we gazed in each
other's eyes. The only thing more beautiful than the blues
he used were the blues in my wife's So you're
trying to divert from how you really feel, Greg, guy,
everybody knows why I was there. I know, I know

(02:50:32):
because I regret what I did. You keep that from me?
What's that? Santa? Did you keep that one? What's that
with you? Okay? All right? But did you keep Van
Go from Yes? On purpose because of how it's going
right now, I did keep that from you. Yes I did. Okay,
I will not while ahead because you're right about the
Christmas right, okay? But no, yes, yes, Greg, I did matter.

(02:50:53):
I think there's pictures of it. You want to show them.
Toe of the of the experience. Oh yeah, you took pictures.
I didn't, did we promoted on the show. I can't
remember you actually took pictures.

Speaker 11 (02:51:09):
Here you go, Greg, Look look, look you're in the painting.
Look look, look it's projected all around you.

Speaker 2 (02:51:14):
Greg, some of us, some of us. Oh yeah, but
what was that gonna do?

Speaker 3 (02:51:18):
Van go?

Speaker 11 (02:51:18):
That's his painting.

Speaker 2 (02:51:19):
Greg, Cherry and I were in there. You don't think
that was great? That's his scribbling. That's his stuff. Yes, scribbling, Greg,
it's not scribbling. My grandkids could do that. No, they can't.

Speaker 27 (02:51:28):
Great.

Speaker 2 (02:51:28):
They got them little things that you draw on and
then you can push your button into races. They draw
stuff like that all the time. It's a sketch. Yeah.
I can't find the pictures.

Speaker 11 (02:51:36):
I can't either.

Speaker 2 (02:51:37):
Let me tell you if I can, though, you're getting
a ton of them today. If I find these pictures,
your phone's gonna be full of them. Look at those
why deer hunting today? Don't do that. I can't remember
when I went. All right, so, uh, but it was beautiful.
It was great. Sounds like you loved it, So I did.
I couldn't wait, I bet honestly, the night before you
couldn't sleep, Greg, I'm quite artistic. I'm quite I just

(02:52:00):
can't quit think about it. I think I'm quite archie. Yeah,
I didn't know about that. A lot of you know,
people see me as you know, being kind of not
having this kind of depth. People don't know about it.
But the so do you remember I've heard the song
Vincent by Don McLean. It's a little weird adler.

Speaker 11 (02:52:17):
I don't think I know those picture this.

Speaker 2 (02:52:19):
I'm working in AM radio, so that's already uplifting, okay,
And I'm doing Afternoon before talk radio would end all
music AM radio, And it's a dreary day, like like
we're experiencing and where we are now. And I just
look over and I'm like, does this Donald McClain guy
ever have another hit? And I see that they have
for me to play another option Vincent? I think that

(02:52:44):
does here about the American Pie guy, I mean, he
throw this down. And that song started and I'm alone
in an AM studio just started out with and I
was like, oh my gosh, and you talk about pressing,
Oh here you go, ok, storry story night gout on

(02:53:12):
try that on a radio sitting there yourself.

Speaker 11 (02:53:14):
The darkness and my soul?

Speaker 2 (02:53:16):
Is it long? It is very long? Seven minutes? No,
can he know? How do a three minutes? So it was,
and and I remember sitting there and I was sitting
your staff part and on that story story you took
your life like off in liver and I'm like, I
like you. This has got an end? When is this
song over? And so it's it's not the most it's

(02:53:38):
not the most uplifted. Do you see your I mean,
I'm already sitting here questioning my life. If you have
a hot video for like a ball team, they're not
going to use that. Yeah, I'm already thinking. Am I
on the right road? Yeah? That's so that studio wasn't
friend where I could be. It was all very it's

(02:53:58):
very very old. Bottom of the hour. We'll be right back.

Speaker 1 (02:54:02):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. They can handle the truth,
The Rick Burchis Show.

Speaker 2 (02:54:16):
Yeah, let's go. Thank you for being with us today.
Relief Factor loving it. Ellen in Kentucky got your letter.
Earlief Factor got it and here it is. Here is
the email. It says, thanks to y'all. I received my
Relief Factor a few weeks ago. I'm only fifty seven

(02:54:37):
years old, but you guys have got me feeling much
younger because of relief Factor. It says, you know, when
you get a little older, things don't work the way
they're supposed to. Lol. It says my problem, my pain
was only getting worse to the point where walking was
becoming a problem. So I couldn't go do that. So

(02:54:59):
once you know, I'm walking pretty normal now and I'm
dancing to the music that you guys are playing as
bad music. Started the first few days with three packets,
now I'm down to only two a day. Thank you.
I just wanted to say you. It totally changed my
life and I love the new show. Thank you very much,
Ellen and Kentucky. So if you want to get yours,
Reliefactor dot com all natural four botanicals. If it's tied

(02:55:20):
to inflammation, relief Factor is going to do the job,
and it's not just going to mask the pain like
the over the calendar stuff. It's going to find the
foundation of the pain if it's inflammation, and then remove
it completely. So so there you go, so relief Factor
dot com or you can go to Rick burgesshow dot
com under sponsors. I take it every day matter If

(02:55:42):
I got some packed up for campaus. Oh, just in Caze.
This is bad, Adler. Thank you, because you're about to
this is bad. Sol Adler has found pictures of me
at the van go thing. Wait a minute with Sherry.
So there are pictures out there. It was such a
big deal. You took pictures. Sherry took pictures of our date.

Speaker 27 (02:56:03):
Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness.

Speaker 2 (02:56:06):
Serious?

Speaker 11 (02:56:08):
Serious?

Speaker 2 (02:56:09):
Was that on purpose? I'm sitting there taking in the art.
I don't know. Maybe I was not being serious. I
was joking around. Is he not joking? I'm not being
serious at that point, he's going. I felt so bad
for Vincent. No thinking. Maybe I thought to what a

(02:56:30):
tortured soul. Maybe I thought to myself, this is probably
gonna go my way jagging on inside. It was cold
that day, Is it inside?

Speaker 23 (02:56:41):
No?

Speaker 2 (02:56:41):
I took it off in a minute.

Speaker 3 (02:56:42):
Good.

Speaker 2 (02:56:43):
I just wore it inside that It was very cold
on me. At least I don't have a bunch of
toddlers with me like somebody else. Yeah, I don't. I
don't know what that called.

Speaker 11 (02:56:50):
Okay, it wasn't a kid's event. I didn't know how bad.

Speaker 2 (02:56:53):
But it wasn't blipping. No patrol so there. I was
at the van going. I mean, there's things outside of
tractor pulls. Greg, you hated one of the textures artists.
I want to know if you were your turtleneck maybe,
if you would have had your turtle neck with that
jacket home. How you like my leather jacket? You think

(02:57:13):
it's sharp in it? That's what I think. I look
on your face. You think I am taking it in?
Look out there? You think you don't think that leather jackets?

Speaker 3 (02:57:22):
Yar?

Speaker 2 (02:57:24):
What's wrong with my leather jacket? Yeah? If you had
a turtle net.

Speaker 5 (02:57:28):
Ok.

Speaker 2 (02:57:28):
I'm just looking across the room. My wife probably finds
me extremely handsome right there, and she's taking a picture
of me. Sure she can have it. You're doing a
lot of posing. I'm not posing. I'm standing there in
the middle. You know what you had to look on
your face?

Speaker 11 (02:57:41):
Oh my god, Oh my.

Speaker 2 (02:57:42):
Gosh, No, oh my gosh, what you got. I've never
seen that before. He's sitting on the floor. You can
just see the top of the crowd and when a
plumber came to see Ben go. Look, Greg made it

(02:58:05):
here to ask you this saying it. Listen. Look at
those people, including Buck Crack. They're all engulfed in what's
going on, and you had the exact same look on
your face. You're just as connected, you know, somebody, somebody
on the text has it perfect. That is the face
of I wonder if deer moving right now at the farm. Well,

(02:58:25):
my mind is somewhere else. But if you go to
this thing, could anybody like? Smile every person out there? Solemn?
I'm gonna smile, and the van go. What's happy in there?

Speaker 11 (02:58:34):
They were not happy with me and my daughter running around?

Speaker 2 (02:58:37):
No, but I can see them. I mean, now that
I see what it looked like, I bet they But
I'd rather be it blippy. Wasn't that Danny go something? Idam,
what did you think was gonna happen?

Speaker 11 (02:58:48):
I didn't think it was going to be so quiet
in the room, so quiet. It was so quiet in there.

Speaker 2 (02:58:53):
Been at this one and she said, look Daddy, look
at her. Cracked for that? So right, so there there. Yeah,
I'm very pensive. I've been too cold in there, Greg healthy,
look at me? Look at everybody? Do you do you?
Are you getting what I'm saying about?

Speaker 21 (02:59:11):
Right?

Speaker 2 (02:59:12):
You're one hundred percent right. I gotta take vincent in Okay,
I can't crack. I gotta take these colors in. I
gotta love the way I love his his brushstrokes. Yes,
even though it's like something a child did. Right, Wow,
let's take in all the art for the person who
was basically psychotic. Yeah, that's what it is. Well, Greg,
if he hadn't have been some weird, he would never
been popular. Yeah. Look at one lady being serious in

(02:59:35):
a mask. Here's the thing. I love, the one person
being serious with about half the rearren showing while sitting
in on a concrete floor. Right, okay, they don't forget
leather jacket. Man's in there making his right. What's your
dealing with my leather You got the leather jacket home?
What's wrong, leather jacket? I've letting the beard grow there,

(02:59:57):
I forgot. Do I need to go back to the
longer beard like that you should have worre you should
have wore like a football jersey or something. Well, speaking
of football, can we move on? Yeah we can vance?
Uh so, uh my leather jacket, I thought if you'd
have just had your fall, I thought you were gonna
make fun of I didn't think the leather jacket was
going in if you'd just had your fist under your chin.
I don't get to wear my leather jacket lots and

(03:00:17):
really like, I mean, you know, all right, so the
Super Bowl, I'm sorry, the big game is coming up.
Let's move on to that. Yeah, Troy Aikman says the
league owes it to the fans to get officiating issues fixed.
That he says the officiating is not up to par
right now. And he said, I know it's a tough job.
He goes the scrutiny that they're under and all that,

(03:00:39):
he said, but I say, we've got more advanced with
instant replays the guys, and I agree with him, they've
kind of backed off. They've been more and more scrutinized.
I'll go further, Aikman, I think they lean on the
instant replay too much. And they and they and they
kind of give a kind of a half effort. Yeah,
they don't pay as much attention the instant replay work
it out. Look, I got news for the people. I
know they hated the spot that they you know, when
the Bills were trying to do the tush push.

Speaker 11 (03:01:00):
Yeah, but let me just say see that it looks.

Speaker 2 (03:01:03):
Like, heyill, let me tell you this though, won't you
make it more obvious. Don't let them you kept First
of all, you kept doing the same thing over and over.
They were they were stopping it for the third time.
Maybe I do something different, no doubt. So don't be
mad at the replay official match yourself. How about this
if you blow them out and get the distance and
there's no doubt, you know. But in other words, so
you got your butt whooped, I think of insanity. And

(03:01:26):
it was so close. After you got your butt kicked,
they just kind of thought, well, maybe they didn't make it.
If you'd have made it obvious, then it wouldn't have mattered.
So quit whining. But he says that the game has
has has not become less controversial. The game has become
more controversial. I just think we're at the point that
this has tipped a little bit because the league is
partners with a number of these gambling services. Here, you

(03:01:48):
are promoting gambling. People are gambling more than ever before
these types of calls. There's a lot of steak, a
lot at steak, and especially when you're considering there's a
lot of money that's changing hands when these calls are
being made. He said, I think the fans that have
every right to demand that the officials get the calls right.

(03:02:11):
It must be addressed in the off season. The catch
inside the five bad call, Now, I'll give you that. Yeah,
it was, and that hurt. Wow, Justin Tucker, I'm just
gonna move on on that one. Yeah. I think he's
I think he was hanging out with Deshaun Watson. Yeah,
but why is this coming back? Is is there a case,
I don't.

Speaker 11 (03:02:28):
Know, these guys need to stay out of these massage places. Yeah,
I get it.

Speaker 2 (03:02:32):
Yeah, that's so. Yeah, he says he just taken. He's innocent.
He's saying that these multiple massage therapists and all the
massage parlors are spas that have banned him. There all wrong,
every one of them, all six of them. Right, that's
a lot of that hurts. You know, if it was one,
you go that maybe some crazy person just trying. But again,
I don't know, I'm not privy to it, don't you know.

(03:02:54):
The gall on TV four without even meeting him, absolutely
love he loves O cars, Yes he does.

Speaker 11 (03:02:59):
Justin Tucker was on my fantasy football team for a
while there. He's a he's a good kicker, but well,
it seems like you might have some problems.

Speaker 2 (03:03:06):
It does sound like.

Speaker 11 (03:03:10):
More like justin all right, Okay.

Speaker 2 (03:03:14):
All the people have to do is just look at
the testimony. Okay. It does give a whole new look
to wide rot.

Speaker 27 (03:03:21):
So we'll we'll be back, Yes, we'll be back. Phone
calls wrap up the hour and any headlines we may
have missed. Eight eight eight the number six big vox
eight eight eight six two four four eight six nine.

Speaker 2 (03:03:43):

Hey night, you walked today on your hut.

Speaker 2 (03:05:45):
Hey, thank you, Nate. How did you do this year? Man?

Speaker 19 (03:05:49):
You know I didn't do any good. I held out
on one one big buck.

Speaker 5 (03:05:54):
And end up eating tag soup. But that's how it goes.

Speaker 2 (03:06:01):
Yeah, so what's on your mind?

Speaker 15 (03:06:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 19 (03:06:04):
Well, I was gonna talking about Vincent van Go. I
went to Columbus College of Art Design for four years.

Speaker 3 (03:06:10):
We had studied.

Speaker 19 (03:06:11):
That's the art history is the only class I had
to drop out of, so I didn't fail. It's so uninterested.

Speaker 11 (03:06:17):
Sure, you guys know me.

Speaker 19 (03:06:18):
I don't fit in with the normal well I say
normal artists, but some of them were out there. But
what I wasn't tell you. It was hilarious. They wanted
to do an article locally. I'd won some awards to
the local newspaper. This is right outside Washington, d C. Manassa,
Virginia put on the front cover picture me a bunch
of art work. And of course I'm seventeen years old,

(03:06:39):
you know. And I bet my art teacher was ready
to call under a rock, but I put on there.
They asked you about this abstract art, and I was like, well,
then I don't. I don't understand that stuff. And anyway
ended the article with and this is what they end article,
which said, I think those people made a name for
themselves doing realistic artwork before they out that. I say,

(03:07:01):
maybe if I'm famous one day, I'll just toss some
paint on the cameus and say I felt bad that day.

Speaker 2 (03:07:08):
Yeah, you're right. I mean, if you look at it.
Even with van Go, he had some art that was
very detailed and really looked like people's features on their faces.
And then you're right, you get popular doing that, and
then after that you do whatever you want.

Speaker 19 (03:07:23):
You know, they're talented, they don't have to do that.
That's what I just didn't relate to that. But I'm
gonna text in some pictures. A good friend of mine
from high school, he's the art teacher now at our school.
He did you remember that famous Bo Jackson picture where
he had the shoulder pads on nose shirt and he
had the bat they fell.

Speaker 5 (03:07:38):
Across his shoulders. He painted that.

Speaker 19 (03:07:41):
He's an NFL licenseed memorabilial and he does paint these
actual players. Anyway, he painted that. It's hanging in his
art room. I was just there back in April last
year and took a pictures. I'll text it and you
won't believe it looks just like the photograph you some
mother ones.

Speaker 5 (03:07:54):
He's done.

Speaker 2 (03:07:55):
But yes, anyway, and thanks for the stuff you did
for us, Nate very very much, your talented. Yeah approof
of that. Yeah, that's great. So thanks for the call.
It's a lot better than than go I do too.
But he makes a good point. You know. It's kind
of like why people sit there and listen to Yoko
Ono sing. Everybody knows she can't sing. No, but now
she's you know, there is another word for can't sing.

(03:08:15):
She's that. It's that bad. It is all right, here
we go. Hey, this is the Rick Birders show. Unscreen
phone calls your own go ahead, Hello, Yeah, hey Rick
Birder's show. Unscreen phone calls your own go ahead, hit
their area code, or just tell did not show it,

(03:08:36):
didn't show it? Hello. You know, I think something's happening
to these right now, because we've got tons of them
and I'm not hearing that click sound. I'm not either,
ye see it right here, there's one. There's one. Hey,
all right, you're on the Rick Bird you show. Hey,
go ahead, unscreen phone calls. Something's good, I think something's

(03:08:58):
gone bad. I don't think they can hear Greg. I'm sorry.
I guess you will have to screen them because something
on the unscreened, Like I don't know that they can
hear us or not. Hey, another thing, if you can't,
you know, we're working on this. This phone system is
starting to give us more trouble than it did in
the past. I wonder if it's the software is not
starting to wear out. Also, let's go to let's go

(03:09:19):
to Deanna and Birmingham. Hey, Deanna, welcome to the show.
One O four seven. Wuszk what's on your mind?

Speaker 29 (03:09:26):
Because it Deana, not Deanna.

Speaker 12 (03:09:27):
But that's all right.

Speaker 19 (03:09:28):
I'm sorry, that's all right.

Speaker 29 (03:09:30):
I still have my Christmas tree up, okay, and you.

Speaker 2 (03:09:33):
Feel good about it?

Speaker 29 (03:09:36):
Doesn't bother me. So last year I kept it up
all the way through April, all the.

Speaker 2 (03:09:41):
Way through April. So let me ask you this because
that's important and I hope Lisa's listening. So when did
you decide this is the day I take it down?
Why April? Why not go to May? Why not do it?

Speaker 29 (03:09:56):
My mom and my husband were like, you've got to
get this tree down. It is April, so.

Speaker 2 (03:10:01):
There was pressure. You really didn't want to do it,
you were pressured.

Speaker 29 (03:10:05):
It's just a pain in the rear end.

Speaker 2 (03:10:07):
Now I agree with you. I'm starting to be open
to it for no other reason. Then there's no takedown day,
and then I also get another I don't have to
put up day.

Speaker 29 (03:10:17):
I'm telling you, if I ever built a house in
my den, there's going to be a closet where I
can have the tree kept decorated, and I'm going to
slide it in the closet and I'm going to slide
it out of closet.

Speaker 2 (03:10:28):
It's it's some people. I've seen you, right, They have
done their houses that way, and uh and I think
it's brilliant when they built a new house. I agree
with you on hundred percent. Mark's in Birmingham. Mark, go ahead.
What's ups you, buddy?

Speaker 5 (03:10:42):
Man?

Speaker 17 (03:10:42):
I love her idea, but my problem is I am
real tree, real tree only, and Greg, I.

Speaker 5 (03:10:50):
Feel your pain.

Speaker 18 (03:10:50):
Brother.

Speaker 17 (03:10:51):
I had to take down what I've been calling big
boy last night.

Speaker 3 (03:10:55):
It was sad.

Speaker 2 (03:10:56):
Wait a minute, your real tree lasted that long.

Speaker 21 (03:11:00):
Well lasted is a relative term.

Speaker 2 (03:11:02):
Look at you, fire hazard?

Speaker 17 (03:11:04):
We got, we got, we got bad needle issues.

Speaker 18 (03:11:06):
But uh, you know, I've.

Speaker 17 (03:11:08):
Tried every year. So we do Christmas tree, then it's
New Year's tree, then it's Birthday tree, and usually it's
National Championship tree. But hey, that's over and and tried
to make it. The only way I made it to
Valentine's Day was I put it out back on the deck. Oh,

(03:11:30):
lights still on it, had it on the deck, it snowed.
I had me a fire out there with my Christmas
tree February in the snow. It was incredible. Okay, but
uh yeah, so Greg, I mean I hate it for you, man,
I feel you pained.

Speaker 2 (03:11:45):
But you you got to the point where your house
was going to burn down if you didn't do something.

Speaker 3 (03:11:49):
Uh yeah, yeah, I got you.

Speaker 2 (03:11:52):
All right, let's go, h welcome to the Rick Birder Show.
Your topic. Word of the day. I can't see the name, go.

Speaker 28 (03:11:57):
Ahead, So I sent Gregg a word of the day earlier,
and his word of the day is climate. Trump's gonna
build the wall so big they won't be able to
climb it.

Speaker 2 (03:12:12):
That's terrible. I mean, that is that is absolutely terrible.
That is so bad. All right, how about the guy
has been on hold and waiting to get that into
and stuck with it. Climate other things that we did
not hit. Don't'll run out of time.

Speaker 11 (03:12:30):
I've got a quick thing that I love to just
discuss real quick.

Speaker 2 (03:12:33):
Now, go real quick. You got you got about forty seconds.

Speaker 11 (03:12:36):
This terrible crash in the Potomac.

Speaker 2 (03:12:38):
Oh.

Speaker 11 (03:12:39):
Boy, there's a lot of speculations going on. There's some
new footage that's not helping that speculation in which you
can just see the helicopter just almost go in a
straight B line for this airplane, and it's leaving us
with more questions than answers, it seems. You can see
the wreckage they're falling into the river. The point I

(03:13:01):
wanted to make was that there's been a lot of
posts online saying that the helicopter pilot was a transgender
woman that was supposedly angry with Trump or something like that,
and they're so they're trying to say it's like suicide
or whatever. Uh, that that helicopter pilot, that transgender transgender
helicopter pilot is alive and has has posted that was

(03:13:25):
not me. So if you see that that's not.

Speaker 2 (03:13:28):
True, that most of what we see posting right now,
sadly is not true. I mean, and that's so I
wouldn't get my news there. Yeah. Uh so I'm glad
you got that in. Thanks for being with us, have
an outstanding weekend if you're leaving us, and go catch
whatever part you may miss today on the Daily Archives
