After more than 40 chapters of pursuit, Volke Adelgis and Fain catch up to TheasinVenrover and verify that Theasin can in fact cure the Arcane Plague.
Unfortunately, they also learn that Theasin is a member of the Second Ascension whointentionally created the Arcane Plague in the Frith place.
Theasin doesn't consider Volke to be anyone important, but he also can't have him runningoff and warning people like Eventide and the Frith Guild.

So he agrees to cure Volke under the condition that the trio be kept in stasis.
possibly for months, while the Second Ascension completes their plans.
But before Volke can refused, Adelgis reads his mind and knocks him out, trapping Volke ina dream prison, while Theasin places his body in relic keeper stasis.
But before we return to our story, a piece of advice from the series.

So with that, let's get into chapters 46 through 50 of Plague Arcanist.

And today we'll be going over to chapters 46 through 50 of plague arcanist, which happensto be the final chapters of this book.

We left off with the Autarch coming in, basically telling everybody what's going on.
And so the Autarch is there.
He's talking to Theasin We have Calisto and spider in
All these other people Rhys is there, right?
How do you want to see him?

Freaking meat bag.
Still my favorite.
Right.
Meat bag.
Is there anybody else knows them?
And the Autarch has just found out that the frith guild has actually gotten six of the 12rune stones to include the world serpent rune stone.
He is not happy at

One of his lackeys is basically going over the list of people that the second ascensionhas killed in the process of trying to pave the way to make their society after the world
serpent is bounded to the Autarch.
Now they do list off Gregory Ruma in this list.
And I'm not sure why, because clearly was not the second ascension that had anyinvolvement with it.

Other than I could guess see if
They got him plague infected and same with Desemius, but they didn't actually kill Ruma.
So I don't know why they're claiming Ruma is one of them, but it is what it is.
It's probably just some lacky trying to get some extra credit.
He's like, yeah, Ruma's dead too.
We probably did that.

Just like, look, I promise like outside of all the other things that we haven't been ableto do because one, one person that
constantly eluding the second ascension is Guildmaster Eventide and again the autarch isnot happy that she is still alive.
It is almost to a comical level of how often the frith guild has actually stopped theautarch's plans even with all of

their ability to look out and kind of strategize everything.
The Frith Guild's kind of happened to be there at the right place, the right time to foilhis plans yet again.
We do find out that Theasin is set to get the Soul Forge for his service and loyalty tothe Autarch He's basically told, do not reveal yourself as been bonded with the Soul Forge
(05:48):
until I have been bonded with the World Serpent.
So obviously Theasin is not doing this on his soul volition of just wanting
be on the winning side, he's getting something out of this, which is certainly a massivething.
Cause obviously the God Arcanist becoming a God Arcanist is going to be a huge thing.
Especially the one titled the scholar.
(06:08):
As we know, he is very scholarly, even though we don't like to accept that.
But spade to spade.
will give him that.
We'll give him that.
Okay.
Who might not like him, but we have to give credit where credit's due.
We do find out with the world serpent that basically.
the world serpent is able to completely reform landscape, entire landscapes, entirecountries, re -divert rivers, pull nine yards.

So this is the huge stepping stone for the Autarch to get the world serpent.
And if he were to bond, he's basically going to change all of these landscapes overnightor as close to as overnight as we could expect.
And just how crazy would that be just out of nowhere, you wake up one morning and all of asudden.
(06:53):
You've got a hill between you and the next year neighbor.
Now I wouldn't be worried about a hill, like a river going through your house.
Like house turned into a houseboat.
Poor farmers out there.
then especially if he does whoever he's siding with, maybe the other side is, is againsthim and they're constantly changing their alliances and they're going back and forth to

the river one day.
It's a hill the next day.
It's back to a river.
My cabbages.
So Volke is stuck.
Being awake, but not being able to move whatsoever and basically waiting for Theasin toget back from the Soulforge.
Cause again, Autarch takes precedence, Soulforge takes precedence.
Basically it's like, don't touch them until I get back.
(07:38):
And I don't know when that's going to be.
So Lord knows how long they're going to be stuck waiting.
But thankfully, Kar had the decency, you the smarts to sneak off when he had the Frithavailable chance and he actually has come
to the rescue.
That brings us to chapter 47, the final decision.
So Karr does break the magical hold.
(07:59):
He was never actually caught by the second ascension.
So he's very well practiced at hiding and was able to blend in.
Yay, I like doppelgangers.
I do want to say though, if Karr was able to override Theasin's magic, that means thatdoppelgangers are more powerful than relickeepers.
It's very true.
The Atlas tortoise and an Atlas
(08:21):
arcanist were left in charge of the defense.
So Volke goes to sneak into a bunker where the rest of the crew are being held by magic.
He retrieves his gear.
They end up freeing everybody, but Volke is extremely angry at Adelgis for putting him tosleep and not letting him choose his own path.
(08:42):
is another one of those moments of Volke going like almost scorched earth on Adelgis.
Is it the plague?
Is
Because he's pissed.
mean, I can see both sides of that.
Definitely.
Maybe it's the combination of them, but he, don't damn near just about are frickingdestroys Adelgis Yeah.
Adelgis got lucky.
(09:07):
He took down Felicity.
Like he was about to just do him in.
Yes.
We do find out that there is also an enemy, ethereal whelk arcanist who was.
protecting the thoughts so Adelgis couldn't hear other people's thoughts that was due tothe ethereal whelk Arcanist.
We don't get mention of who was stopping the plague monsters and I'm really curious whataura that falls into because that seems pretty powerful.
(09:33):
I wonder if the Master Arcanist, because we can assume that this person is an actualMaster not Master Jevil I'm gonna keep finding ways to get that stuck in there.
Honorary Master.
I'm going to guess that maybe this is the ethereal welk was able to, I don't know, projectsome kind of telepathic field that's saying, you know, you have to stay where you are.
(09:59):
You can't come on land or kind of mind control them a little bit.
It's very possible if Adelgis is able to kind of project his voice into others.
If a master Arcanist could definitely, you know, I would assume they can do somethingsimilar.
So it could very well also be done through telepathy.
Which is pretty cool.
(10:24):
Adelgis is encouraging Volke to live, to fight another day, not chase down Theasin Heoffers up the Khapera again.
Volke turns it down again.
He doesn't want to butcher the remaining six Khapera that are out there.
Adelgis does bring up Illia and Volke is torn on this, but ends up telling Adelgis, hey,go warn the Frith Guild They need to know Akiva is coming.
(10:52):
They need to
that the Autarch is a gold kirin and Arcanist and he's going to stay in fight and he hasthis determination of, know, I've I'm set in my path.
I already have the plague.
That's not going to change.
So I'm going to do everything I can right now.
Hey, he did not read all of those books and all those stories growing up to be a littlebitch now.
(11:15):
So he didn't know what was going to stick back and do his thing.
Your time to shine, buddy.
He's about to have songs and stories made of him.
And thankfully Luthair does back him on this, which I'm really glad and I expected him to,but we're about to get real score strength coming up.
So chapter 48 Atlas Tortoise.
(11:36):
Fating decides he's going to help Volke as much as he can, as long as he can to take onthese other plague ridden Arcanists.
Cause we have a dread form Atlas Tortoise.
a dread form Cerberus, we have two unicorn and a Pegasus Arcanist, all of them at thisexcavation site.
(12:01):
He doesn't want to see Volke basically do the same thing that Fain's brother did and justtry to go out and save everybody.
So that, I love how, how Fain goes from the pirate to the outcast
being very honorable and noble and all those good things.
And that slow change in character that we know he probably had at heart to begin with, butpoor circumstances, you he had to do what he had to do.
(12:29):
They do end up finding MOS or the mother of shapeshifters and they do set her free fromthe ropes and the Nullstone chains.
She has the obsidian thorns stuck in her.
We're assuming that she's got the Manticore Venom getting pushed into her as well.
And as she's starting to reform, the description of what MOS looks like is the inside of awhale with all of the bones
(12:58):
Disgusting.
It's just disgusting.
I know every time they like touch the sheet, caused blood to like appear on the sheet.
And with MOS being the way she is just, yeah, it's gross.
Yeah.
So of course they are not able to just do this quietly.
(13:20):
Something makes, you know, they make a bunch of noise.
The unicorn arcanist ends up coming in and in order
protect themselves, they end up knocking the Unicorn arcanist into a bookshelf that slowlystarts to cause all of the other bookshelves in the whole storehouse to topple over and so

much for stealth.
is really just the Apothecary all over again.
Zelfree living his worst knightmare here.
He's like, Zelfree's about to come out and yell at me.
I'm surprised he didn't offer to pay for it.
Like, I'm sorry.
I'll pay for it.
I'm sorry.
Like I almost bet he would have.
So somehow MOS can tell that Volke is a friend with her children and her children beingthe doppelgangers and mimics.
(14:11):
Obviously we know we have Zelfree have Karna, we have Traces and Kar, respectfully.
She says she can smell her children on them.
So I imagine there's definitely like a
get out of jail card here in the back pocket for Volke now because she owes him one andshe ends up escaping.
And her escape method is exploding into birds and flying away, which is also a horror showall on its own.
(14:40):
feel like MOS would be Edgar Allan Poe's version of a mystical creature.
Did he submit that?
Was that him?
Shami is this anything related to Edgar Allan Poe?
So, Volke shadow steps up to the top with Fain.
He gets kind of wrecked by that.
(15:01):
And naturally, of course, the Pegasus is on top of him in the air, just pushing wind downat him.
The Cerberus arcanist starts spewing fire into the warehouse.
Fain and Wraith are
start making attacks to the Cerberus Eldrin itself.
But then the Arcanist hits them with a pretty good blast of fire.
(15:26):
So he's flamethrower on them and sports them pretty good.
Volke finally is like, okay, Fain and Wraith, you guys got to get out of here.
Cause you guys are ice.
He's got fire.
You don't have the elemental, the other, the status, know, it's super effective.
It's super effective.
And ain't going to work out good for you guys.
(15:46):
So Volke still got his Phoenix feather that helps him with his shadow of manipulation.
So he's got that so far.
He does go, he does tell Fain to get away and to help Moonbeam get basically everybodyback to the Frith Guild, tell him all the plans for the autarch So that way they can at
least prepare for the second ascension, make sure that they absolutely get to the worldserpent Frith and to warn Eventide that Akiva
(16:14):
Or you said, how did you say his name?
think I said Akiva, but I don't know if that's right.
I don't know where I got that from.
Cause I, I've never heard it pronounced.
This is another Joe say it one.
We need some professional input on how to We will need to know his name, how to properlyannounce his name because this is going to be quite a while.
(16:36):
We're going to be seeing him.
If anybody wants to give us a shout out to how his name is properly announced or how saidin the audiobook, please let us
So Volke is now making his last stand against all of these other Arcanists.
He basically says, it.
(16:57):
He uses his aura and basically forces it out.
So he's doing his eclipse aura.
Not very effectively, but it's still empowering him.
He's starting to wreck the excavation site.
He's pulling apart the bonfires that are magically being spurred on.
So that he can at least do as much damage as humanly possible before he gets taken out.
(17:24):
He's fighting all of these other Arcanist and their Eldrin right now.
And he ends up getting trapped by the Atlas Tortoise because it is able to manipulate theground and basically sinks him into the ground.
Just like when the Gargoyle did with Callisto and Dread Pirate Arcanist and

He's not able to shadow step out of this.
He's able to get enough of a distraction that he can, he can get himself loose, but youknow, just brings everybody back to lure him out.
Everything, nothing is looking very good.
this is, this is a very tough part of the chapter.
(18:07):
things are not looking up for Volke.
Luthair says, my Arcanist, we must act, escape or
Any decision is better than indecision and.
Volke decides that this is where he's going to make his stand.
Now I know Scott, you had been reading these books basically as they were being released.
(18:29):
Correct.
Correct.
So knowing not knowing.
that there is a fifth book on its way that as soon as you get done with this chapter, thatthere's another chapter and you're to keep going on to another book.
What was, what was your mindset going through at this point in the book?
actually felt better at this one than at the end of Coliseum of Arcanist because here Iwas like, I think Volke's got some tricks in his bag.
(19:00):
He's going to pull something out.
don't know how
how it's going to happen, but I had faith.
think at Coliseum arcanist, I just struggled because it was the plague.
There has been no hope against the plague yet.
And it was this thought of like, Luthair could easily kind of end this.
with Volke teaming up with Luthair, yes, the odds are stacked against them, but I actuallyhad some faith in Volke on this one.
(19:26):
It was like, he's going to, he's going to pull some shit out.
I don't know what that shit's going to be, but he's going to pull some shit out.
So I was excited.
I was, I was very excited at this point for it.
Yeah.
I know what I was reading.
I'm just like, my, I'm spiraling.
Like it's, it's, it's not going to work out where, know, I keep, I kept reminding myselfeven like there's a fifth, there's four other books after this.
(19:55):
Like there's, it's, it's gotta work out somehow, but dang it.
don't know how.
Yeah.
It's, it's rough odds for him.
I will say
That does bring us into chapter 49, following stars and we get Volke's saving grace, whichis true form.
So we get Luthair evolves into his true form.
(20:17):
His armor is upgraded.
He's gets wings.
He's able to fly.
His cape now has stars on it.
Power level is easily over 9 ,000.
Instantly just starts invoking.
Projecting a perfect aura with no problem is able to have that eclipse aura to helpempower him No more second bonding pain.
He is upgraded massively The enemy still approaches so Volke does attempt to use terrorshis go -to but the barriers from the Atlas tortoise do stop this Fortunately retribution
(20:50):
is able to cut right through the barrier.
What he used So it does describe
Volke was using the shadows, like he was throwing retribution and then using the shadowsto swing his sword through the barriers at all these other Arcanists and Eldrin.
Where was this at?
(21:11):
I know, I don't know if he didn't have enough mastery over the shadows or he just didn'tthink of it, but yes, this is new move learned.
Like you said, he's pulling some shit out.
And with this method, he is able to cut the Cerberus Arcanist.
(21:36):
He does get cut through the armor.
Luthair does get blood on him.
The one thing we do know though, is that because he's true form, he is immune to theplague.
This is something that we did see with Eventide.
Volke finally does kill the man and the aura fades away.
(21:56):
And Thiesen even
True form arcanist are not affected by the plague.
So we can at least be fairly confident that that is true.
Obviously we've seen it with other arcanist before that true forms do not get affected byit.
But again, Theasin said it's true.
So it is true.
Okay.
(22:16):
He's a scholar.
He's a scholar.
Maybe not a gentleman, So chapter 50, a dying wish.
I read this chapter title.
Like I almost didn't read the chapter title, but then, know, obviously a dying wish.
You're like so much emotional roller coaster through these again, last five chapters ofher books, just straight emotional roller coaster.
(22:44):
You just expect it.
is what it is.
He just, just got cured of the plague Got a true form or a true form.
Like amazing.
And again, dude's like 18, maybe, maybe 18 at this point.
depending on how much time actually elapsed during his travels from new Nora to theexplanation site and all this other stuff going on.

So 18 years old has a true form.
Rishans Rishans's an asshole.
We don't like him.
We don't want to give the company to Rishans.
He cheated though.
He didn't earn his.
just was born an asshole.
he got his.
He just happened to have been able to bond with the correct thing that he happened to be.
Yes.

We digress.
So with a dying wish, Volke is just going straight beast mode.
Now he's got a broken leg.
He got shot in the back with a bullet from the unicorn Arcanist.
Just not fully physically recovered.
Obviously he got all of that strength for the magic from becoming a true form and beingrelieved of the plague, but obviously not everything was healed.
(23:59):
He decides that he's going to do his best to try and find everyone else to make sure thatthey're okay because Fluffy decided, or Fluffy was told to take off after the rest of the
arcane, everybody else, Karna, Adelgis Fain.
It took me a second, but I got there.
(24:22):
It literally just clicked with me as soon as I said it.
I'm like, yay.
So Volke is now determined to at least make sure that they are okay.
Even though he's able to see through the dark, he does get turned around.
He ends up being lost.
He doesn't go back through the way he's supposed to.
He is starting to realize that he again doesn't feel right and he starts to feel like he'sdying.
(24:47):
And it reminds me back at Dread Pirate Arcanist where he says that misfortune is his onlysibling.
And again,
slowly seeing him degrade and on the plus side, it look at the boxes we're supposed to bechecking off here.
Cure the arcane plague, check, finding out who more information about the second ascensioncheck, taking out the Autarch.
(25:15):
We'll leave that one off, you know, off the, can't check that one off yet, but, he diddestroy the, excavation site and he got rid of.
everything else.
So he decides that he's basically at a point where he can, he can die peacefully.
Even, even talking, even reading this a second time, it did not keep me from, from, fromtearing up.
(25:40):
I was actually sitting at work and I'm just like, gosh, why did I do this to myself?
So, in Volke's illusion or basically a mirage comes up.
to him of Illia and that she is there.
He imagines that she's there and he says that he touches her and she feels real andeverything, but he's like, there's no way.
(26:06):
He does give death the accolade for making it such a spectacular delusion.
He finally tells Illia that he loves her and that he should have done things differentlyfrom the beginning.
And she does tell him that she loves him back.
Again,
Volke is just making peace with himself that he's dying and that it's, this is the
(26:32):
Illia kind of vanishes comes back with Zaxis and Zaxis comes over and starts to healVolke.
And I imagine that Volke is still like, this is, this is some kind of delusion.
Like, is the weirdest dream.
Right.
Like, my gosh.
Like this would be perfect if it was actually happening, but it's probably not.
(26:53):
So Volke finally, finally realizes that he's not having an illusion.
This is real.
He finally gets healed enough where he's able to stand up and Zaxis of all people arecrying over Volke.
(27:14):
Never thought I'd see the day.
No, you know, back, back to the second chapter of Knightmare Arcanist where they prettymuch loathe each other from the beginning.
Zaxis is crying over Volke and he will never admit it,
Dang it, is written and it is in history.
(27:36):
We saw the terrors.
So there's no writing this off.
So Volke gets teleported back to where everybody else is from the frith guild.
He gets dog piled by Raisen who has four heads now.
Four, not two, that he left off with.
(27:58):
And Raisen's like 250 pounds now, so
He's massive.
we have Titania, we have traces, we have Akhat, the Khapera, we have Tine, the bluePhoenix.
And of course to top off the dog pile, Maceos, Captain Devlin's roc because she lovesherself a good dog pile.

She says, remind us now.
Atty sees him after he gets out of the dog pile and runs up in my, in my Hickman.
She runs up to Volke and gives him a hug.
I I imagine she like stops for like half a second to be like, I'm sorry, like show toomuch emotion, get it under check.
(28:39):
Okay.
Like I miss you Volke hug.
And she gives him some medicine to help with whatever he was shot with.
Things are pretty much like on the up and up now, but I want it to be clear that Atty wasthe Frith person to basically run up and hug Volke.
So obviously there's some kind of feels there.
(28:59):
He is a ladies man.
He is.
So as soon as he breaks apart from Atty, Hexa dang near like knocks him over tackles himbecause she's so excited to see him.
And then Eviana comes over and essentially is going to like try to tackle him, I imagine.
But she's like as much as a leaf.
(29:21):
So she doesn't really have the same effect that Hexa did.
But we know your heart's in the right place.
You tried.
Right.
As Volke is walking back towards the ship.
And, and again, Sun Chasers there.
the airship Evianna will not let Volke go.
And I like this just cause it's like, don't know.
(29:41):
You ain't leaving.
You've got to train me now.
Okay.
Like we're Knightmares all right.
We got it.
We got to do the knightmare We got to train me properly.
Especially now that you got your evolved one.
I want one of those.
How do I get an evolved knightmare?
I almost said evolve Pokemon.
First you get it to level 36.
(30:05):
And then just stuff a bunch of rare candies down its throat until it...
So Captain Devlin and Zelfree are hanging out in front of the airship and Volke's like, Igot to tell you everything right now.
And all the plans that's going on with the second Ascension and Zelfree's kind of like,okay, okay, let's like, like, let's, let's get up on the ship here.
(30:27):
Come
We can, we can discuss this on, on the ship.
come on.
Okay.
Like the longer you're doing this, the longer it's taking.
Get on the ship.
We can start moving.
Okay.
Come on.
And one of the last lines in this book is Zelfree saying, and we're also going to have tohave a talk about how none of my apprentices listen to a damn word I have to say.
(30:52):
You're supposed to be the good one.
We've been preaching this for so
Nobody listens to Zelfree
my Lord.
Again, it's like, if you would just listen to Zelfree for five seconds.
I mean, they did it once.
(31:13):
And it worked.
It did work.
They ended up being able to compete in the tournament like they wanted to.
But he had to have a tournament to encourage them to listen.
And with that ends book four, Plague Arcanist.
(31:34):
man, like I said, such feels.
know Shami has constantly said that she cried writing the book and she was the one thatthought of balling it up.
So, you know, I, it's a lot of, I love this book.
I love the very end of the book.
Just chef's kiss.
All right.
And with that, we are going to jump into our bestiary section, the Atlas tortoise.
(31:58):
And I can only think of the Atlas tortoise as nothing other than just a giant tortera.
If you watch the new Detective Pikachu movie with Ryan Reynolds, that, is what I see asthat.
Let's turn tortoise far as the mythology goes.
We kind of assume it's based off the world turtle tortoise mythologies.
(32:21):
it's considered, it's called the world turtle, also called the cosmic turtle or the worldbearing turtle.
We see this in the Hindu mythologies, the Chinese mythologies and some mythologies.
from the indigenous peoples of America.
As far as anything else goes, there's quite a lot that we don't know for sure.
(32:41):
We can make a lot of astute guesses mainly because the Atlas tortoise and the Atlas turtleare fairly similar in its abilities.
One can swim, one walks on land.
That's really the big differences between the two.
So for Trial of Worth, we're again, we're
(33:01):
guessing, pretty sure that it has something to do with protecting something precious.
Gonna say that it's a tier three.
I don't think there's gonna be any argument that it's for it being anything other than atier three.
We do know that it had, again, I'm going to guess that it's a progeny reproduction.
It is able to evoke barriers and manipulate grounds and plants.
(33:26):
The Atlas tortoise is able to manipulate the ground just as if a gargoyle can manipulaterocks or stone golems, kind of thing.
Not too sure about the augmentation or passive abilities.
It's aura, true form, true appearance.
Again, a lot of question marks with it.

Hopefully once the bestiary is released and is able to be discussed.
We will be able to have more information on the Atlas tortoise, but again, a lot of theinformation we're going to guess is basically the same as the Atlas turtle.
The other day I want to mention about the, the Atlas tortoise that we saw in this lastchapters.
(34:08):
It was a dread form and it was stated that there was, there was actually a tombstone onthe tortoise's shell.
Once it was killed, that tombstone fell off.
Volke also did find a kirin
in the back of this tortoise.
So I assume the Arcanist that was, I think it's Tamoi was the name of the Arcanist.
(34:34):
So we assume he was a kirin Arcanist along with the Atlas tortoise, but Volke's just likemeh.
It's not going to bond with anybody else.
So I'll just leave it there.
now that we have our true form knightmare, we're going to dive pretty deep into them.
So mythology Knightmares are based on tales of
ghost soldiers from Okinawa.
(34:57):
So there's a lot of different myths that are centered around soldiers who die in thebattlefield.
Okinawa is probably one of the more famous and one of more documented ones.
These myths are anything from specter samurai, people saying that ghosts need to fulfillsome sort of goal before they can depart, in areas that are so haunted that suicides are
(35:21):
documented
Military housing gets condemned.
And these stories really influenced the creation of the knightmare who's born from thedeath of a ruler.
It also comes from the idea of Knightmares being able to merge, which is similar to ghostsbeing able to possess people and carry out actions through
(35:42):
The trial of worth is demonstrating virtue and conviction.
This is usually in the form of saving someone's life or the potential cost of losing yourown.
we saw Volke at the very, very beginning saving someone's life from...
We see this at the beginning with Volke saving Lyle from a plague stag.
(36:05):
And then we also see this with Evianna who steps in the way to try
save Volke's life because she's tired of seeing the people around her die.
Nightmares are tier three, and their reproduction is fabled again being born when the soulruler of the land is assassinated or killed by betrayal.
(36:25):
The blood mixes with the shadow and the new knightmare forms out of this and we saw thisactually happen with Layshl So excited for that happened.
I know.
They are able to evoke terrors, so one
Volks go to is being able to evoke hallucinations that are sent to the mind of the target.
They manipulate shadows, can move, harden them into objects.
(36:49):
These are, however, easily destroyed by light.
Augmentation, they are also able to augment shadows so they can grant people to seethrough shadows.
And when they augment themselves, they can gain the ability to shadow step throughdarkness, moving as though they were a shadow.
Passive abilities, they are able to merge with the Arcanist, becoming a single being thatlive and die together.
(37:11):
They can see through darkness, they're immune to most forms of fear and other terrors, andthey have increased strength when they're in the darkness.
Their aura is the Eclipse aura, which creates a shadow that blots out the sun or the moon,blanking everything in artificial darkness.
And their true form is virtue, so the Arcanist
(37:33):
embodies the ideals of a fallen knight willing to stand in the face of something dark nomatter the personal cost really sacrificing everything and being willing to sacrifice
everything for their cause.
Once they gain their true form they do get a cape or scarf form into wings and the armorbecomes enhanced to become more deadly so the gauntlets turn into claws they become

much more dexterous and they're able to shift around their body a lot more.
Their true form ability, which we haven't seen come into plague, is no falsehood.
So when they get their true form, the Arcanist are able to detect when people are lying tothem.
I would love that.
I love that ability.
Just stop your line.

Little tingles.
Yeah, that's not right.

After more than 40 chapters of pursuit, Volke Adelgis and Fain catch up to TheasinVenrover and verify that Theasin can in fact cure the Arcane Plague.
Unfortunately, they also learn that Theasin is a member of the Second Ascension whointentionally created the Arcane Plague in the Frith place.
Theasin doesn't consider Volke to be anyone important, but he also can't have him runningoff and warning people like Eventide and the Frith Guild.

So he agrees to cure Volke under the condition that the trio be kept in stasis.
possibly for months, while the Second Ascension completes their plans.
But before Volke can refused, Adelgis reads his mind and knocks him out, trapping Volke ina dream prison, while Theasin places his body in relic keeper stasis.
But before we return to our story, a piece of advice from the series.

Step 13 on the Pillar of Ruma says tranquility, without it we cannot control our rage.
So with that, let's get into chapters 46 through 50 of Plague Arcanist.

Cause this is going to be a wild, crazy ride for the next five chapters.

We left off with the Autarch coming in, basically telling everybody what's going on.
And so the Autarch is there.
He's talking to Theasin We have Calisto and spider in
All these other people Rhys is there, right?
How do you want to see him?
(03:55):
Freaking meat bag.
Still my favorite.
Right.
Meat bag.
Is there anybody else knows them?
And the Autarch has just found out that the frith guild has actually gotten six of the 12rune stones to include the world serpent rune stone.
He is not happy at
(04:17):
One of his lackeys is basically going over the list of people that the second ascensionhas killed in the process of trying to pave the way to make their society after the world
serpent is bounded to the Autarch.
Now they do list off Gregory Ruma in this list.
And I'm not sure why, because clearly was not the second ascension that had anyinvolvement with it.
(04:42):
Other than I could guess see if
They got him plague infected and same with Desemius, but they didn't actually kill Ruma.
So I don't know why they're claiming Ruma is one of them, but it is what it is.
It's probably just some lacky trying to get some extra credit.
He's like, yeah, Ruma's dead too.
We probably did that.
(05:04):
Just like, look, I promise like outside of all the other things that we haven't been ableto do because one, one person that
constantly eluding the second ascension is Guildmaster Eventide and again the autarch isnot happy that she is still alive.
It is almost to a comical level of how often the frith guild has actually stopped theautarch's plans even with all of
(05:27):
their ability to look out and kind of strategize everything.
The Frith Guild's kind of happened to be there at the right place, the right time to foilhis plans yet again.
We do find out that Theasin is set to get the Soul Forge for his service and loyalty tothe Autarch He's basically told, do not reveal yourself as been bonded with the Soul Forge
(05:48):
until I have been bonded with the World Serpent.
So obviously Theasin is not doing this on his soul volition of just wanting
be on the winning side, he's getting something out of this, which is certainly a massivething.
Cause obviously the God Arcanist becoming a God Arcanist is going to be a huge thing.
Especially the one titled the scholar.
(06:08):
As we know, he is very scholarly, even though we don't like to accept that.
But spade to spade.
will give him that.
We'll give him that.
Okay.
Who might not like him, but we have to give credit where credit's due.
We do find out with the world serpent that basically.
the world serpent is able to completely reform landscape, entire landscapes, entirecountries, re -divert rivers, pull nine yards.
(06:33):
So this is the huge stepping stone for the Autarch to get the world serpent.
And if he were to bond, he's basically going to change all of these landscapes overnightor as close to as overnight as we could expect.
And just how crazy would that be just out of nowhere, you wake up one morning and all of asudden.
(06:53):
You've got a hill between you and the next year neighbor.
Now I wouldn't be worried about a hill, like a river going through your house.
Like house turned into a houseboat.
Poor farmers out there.
then especially if he does whoever he's siding with, maybe the other side is, is againsthim and they're constantly changing their alliances and they're going back and forth to
(07:15):
the river one day.
It's a hill the next day.
It's back to a river.
My cabbages.
So Volke is stuck.
Being awake, but not being able to move whatsoever and basically waiting for Theasin toget back from the Soulforge.
Cause again, Autarch takes precedence, Soulforge takes precedence.
Basically it's like, don't touch them until I get back.
(07:38):
And I don't know when that's going to be.
So Lord knows how long they're going to be stuck waiting.
But thankfully, Kar had the decency, you the smarts to sneak off when he had the Frithavailable chance and he actually has come
to the rescue.
That brings us to chapter 47, the final decision.
So Karr does break the magical hold.
(07:59):
He was never actually caught by the second ascension.
So he's very well practiced at hiding and was able to blend in.
Yay, I like doppelgangers.
I do want to say though, if Karr was able to override Theasin's magic, that means thatdoppelgangers are more powerful than relickeepers.
It's very true.
The Atlas tortoise and an Atlas
(08:21):
arcanist were left in charge of the defense.
So Volke goes to sneak into a bunker where the rest of the crew are being held by magic.
He retrieves his gear.
They end up freeing everybody, but Volke is extremely angry at Adelgis for putting him tosleep and not letting him choose his own path.
(08:42):
is another one of those moments of Volke going like almost scorched earth on Adelgis.
Is it the plague?
Is
Because he's pissed.
mean, I can see both sides of that.
Definitely.
Maybe it's the combination of them, but he, don't damn near just about are frickingdestroys Adelgis Yeah.
Adelgis got lucky.
(09:07):
He took down Felicity.
Like he was about to just do him in.
Yes.
We do find out that there is also an enemy, ethereal whelk arcanist who was.
protecting the thoughts so Adelgis couldn't hear other people's thoughts that was due tothe ethereal whelk Arcanist.
We don't get mention of who was stopping the plague monsters and I'm really curious whataura that falls into because that seems pretty powerful.
(09:33):
I wonder if the Master Arcanist, because we can assume that this person is an actualMaster not Master Jevil I'm gonna keep finding ways to get that stuck in there.
Honorary Master.
I'm going to guess that maybe this is the ethereal welk was able to, I don't know, projectsome kind of telepathic field that's saying, you know, you have to stay where you are.
(09:59):
You can't come on land or kind of mind control them a little bit.
It's very possible if Adelgis is able to kind of project his voice into others.
If a master Arcanist could definitely, you know, I would assume they can do somethingsimilar.
So it could very well also be done through telepathy.
Which is pretty cool.
(10:24):
Adelgis is encouraging Volke to live, to fight another day, not chase down Theasin Heoffers up the Khapera again.
Volke turns it down again.
He doesn't want to butcher the remaining six Khapera that are out there.
Adelgis does bring up Illia and Volke is torn on this, but ends up telling Adelgis, hey,go warn the Frith Guild They need to know Akiva is coming.
(10:52):
They need to
that the Autarch is a gold kirin and Arcanist and he's going to stay in fight and he hasthis determination of, know, I've I'm set in my path.
I already have the plague.
That's not going to change.
So I'm going to do everything I can right now.
Hey, he did not read all of those books and all those stories growing up to be a littlebitch now.
(11:15):
So he didn't know what was going to stick back and do his thing.
Your time to shine, buddy.
He's about to have songs and stories made of him.
And thankfully Luthair does back him on this, which I'm really glad and I expected him to,but we're about to get real score strength coming up.
So chapter 48 Atlas Tortoise.
(11:36):
Fating decides he's going to help Volke as much as he can, as long as he can to take onthese other plague ridden Arcanists.
Cause we have a dread form Atlas Tortoise.
a dread form Cerberus, we have two unicorn and a Pegasus Arcanist, all of them at thisexcavation site.
(12:01):
He doesn't want to see Volke basically do the same thing that Fain's brother did and justtry to go out and save everybody.
So that, I love how, how Fain goes from the pirate to the outcast
being very honorable and noble and all those good things.
And that slow change in character that we know he probably had at heart to begin with, butpoor circumstances, you he had to do what he had to do.
(12:29):
They do end up finding MOS or the mother of shapeshifters and they do set her free fromthe ropes and the Nullstone chains.
She has the obsidian thorns stuck in her.
We're assuming that she's got the Manticore Venom getting pushed into her as well.
And as she's starting to reform, the description of what MOS looks like is the inside of awhale with all of the bones
(12:58):
Disgusting.
It's just disgusting.
I know every time they like touch the sheet, caused blood to like appear on the sheet.
And with MOS being the way she is just, yeah, it's gross.
Yeah.
So of course they are not able to just do this quietly.
(13:20):
Something makes, you know, they make a bunch of noise.
The unicorn arcanist ends up coming in and in order
protect themselves, they end up knocking the Unicorn arcanist into a bookshelf that slowlystarts to cause all of the other bookshelves in the whole storehouse to topple over and so
(13:43):
much for stealth.
is really just the Apothecary all over again.
Zelfree living his worst knightmare here.
He's like, Zelfree's about to come out and yell at me.
I'm surprised he didn't offer to pay for it.
Like, I'm sorry.
I'll pay for it.
I'm sorry.
Like I almost bet he would have.
So somehow MOS can tell that Volke is a friend with her children and her children beingthe doppelgangers and mimics.
(14:11):
Obviously we know we have Zelfree have Karna, we have Traces and Kar, respectfully.
She says she can smell her children on them.
So I imagine there's definitely like a
get out of jail card here in the back pocket for Volke now because she owes him one andshe ends up escaping.
And her escape method is exploding into birds and flying away, which is also a horror showall on its own.
(14:40):
feel like MOS would be Edgar Allan Poe's version of a mystical creature.
Did he submit that?
Was that him?
Shami is this anything related to Edgar Allan Poe?
So, Volke shadow steps up to the top with Fain.
He gets kind of wrecked by that.
(15:01):
And naturally, of course, the Pegasus is on top of him in the air, just pushing wind downat him.
The Cerberus arcanist starts spewing fire into the warehouse.
Fain and Wraith are
start making attacks to the Cerberus Eldrin itself.
But then the Arcanist hits them with a pretty good blast of fire.
(15:26):
So he's flamethrower on them and sports them pretty good.
Volke finally is like, okay, Fain and Wraith, you guys got to get out of here.
Cause you guys are ice.
He's got fire.
You don't have the elemental, the other, the status, know, it's super effective.
It's super effective.
And ain't going to work out good for you guys.
(15:46):
So Volke still got his Phoenix feather that helps him with his shadow of manipulation.
So he's got that so far.
He does go, he does tell Fain to get away and to help Moonbeam get basically everybodyback to the Frith Guild, tell him all the plans for the autarch So that way they can at
least prepare for the second ascension, make sure that they absolutely get to the worldserpent Frith and to warn Eventide that Akiva
(16:14):
Or you said, how did you say his name?
think I said Akiva, but I don't know if that's right.
I don't know where I got that from.
Cause I, I've never heard it pronounced.
This is another Joe say it one.
We need some professional input on how to We will need to know his name, how to properlyannounce his name because this is going to be quite a while.
(16:36):
We're going to be seeing him.
If anybody wants to give us a shout out to how his name is properly announced or how saidin the audiobook, please let us
So Volke is now making his last stand against all of these other Arcanists.
He basically says, it.
(16:57):
He uses his aura and basically forces it out.
So he's doing his eclipse aura.
Not very effectively, but it's still empowering him.
He's starting to wreck the excavation site.
He's pulling apart the bonfires that are magically being spurred on.
So that he can at least do as much damage as humanly possible before he gets taken out.
(17:24):
He's fighting all of these other Arcanist and their Eldrin right now.
And he ends up getting trapped by the Atlas Tortoise because it is able to manipulate theground and basically sinks him into the ground.
Just like when the Gargoyle did with Callisto and Dread Pirate Arcanist and
(17:46):
He's not able to shadow step out of this.
He's able to get enough of a distraction that he can, he can get himself loose, but youknow, just brings everybody back to lure him out.
Everything, nothing is looking very good.
this is, this is a very tough part of the chapter.
(18:07):
things are not looking up for Volke.
Luthair says, my Arcanist, we must act, escape or
Any decision is better than indecision and.
Volke decides that this is where he's going to make his stand.
Now I know Scott, you had been reading these books basically as they were being released.
(18:29):
Correct.
Correct.
So knowing not knowing.
that there is a fifth book on its way that as soon as you get done with this chapter, thatthere's another chapter and you're to keep going on to another book.
What was, what was your mindset going through at this point in the book?
actually felt better at this one than at the end of Coliseum of Arcanist because here Iwas like, I think Volke's got some tricks in his bag.
(19:00):
He's going to pull something out.
don't know how
how it's going to happen, but I had faith.
think at Coliseum arcanist, I just struggled because it was the plague.
There has been no hope against the plague yet.
And it was this thought of like, Luthair could easily kind of end this.
with Volke teaming up with Luthair, yes, the odds are stacked against them, but I actuallyhad some faith in Volke on this one.
(19:26):
It was like, he's going to, he's going to pull some shit out.
I don't know what that shit's going to be, but he's going to pull some shit out.
So I was excited.
I was, I was very excited at this point for it.
Yeah.
I know what I was reading.
I'm just like, my, I'm spiraling.
Like it's, it's, it's not going to work out where, know, I keep, I kept reminding myselfeven like there's a fifth, there's four other books after this.
(19:55):
Like there's, it's, it's gotta work out somehow, but dang it.
don't know how.
Yeah.
It's, it's rough odds for him.
I will say
That does bring us into chapter 49, following stars and we get Volke's saving grace, whichis true form.
So we get Luthair evolves into his true form.
(20:17):
His armor is upgraded.
He's gets wings.
He's able to fly.
His cape now has stars on it.
Power level is easily over 9 ,000.
Instantly just starts invoking.
Projecting a perfect aura with no problem is able to have that eclipse aura to helpempower him No more second bonding pain.
He is upgraded massively The enemy still approaches so Volke does attempt to use terrorshis go -to but the barriers from the Atlas tortoise do stop this Fortunately retribution
(20:50):
is able to cut right through the barrier.
What he used So it does describe
Volke was using the shadows, like he was throwing retribution and then using the shadowsto swing his sword through the barriers at all these other Arcanists and Eldrin.
Where was this at?
(21:11):
I know, I don't know if he didn't have enough mastery over the shadows or he just didn'tthink of it, but yes, this is new move learned.
Like you said, he's pulling some shit out.
And with this method, he is able to cut the Cerberus Arcanist.
(21:36):
He does get cut through the armor.
Luthair does get blood on him.
The one thing we do know though, is that because he's true form, he is immune to theplague.
This is something that we did see with Eventide.
Volke finally does kill the man and the aura fades away.
(21:56):
And Thiesen even
True form arcanist are not affected by the plague.
So we can at least be fairly confident that that is true.
Obviously we've seen it with other arcanist before that true forms do not get affected byit.
But again, Theasin said it's true.
So it is true.
Okay.
(22:16):
He's a scholar.
He's a scholar.
Maybe not a gentleman, So chapter 50, a dying wish.
I read this chapter title.
Like I almost didn't read the chapter title, but then, know, obviously a dying wish.
You're like so much emotional roller coaster through these again, last five chapters ofher books, just straight emotional roller coaster.
(22:44):
You just expect it.
is what it is.
He just, just got cured of the plague Got a true form or a true form.
Like amazing.
And again, dude's like 18, maybe, maybe 18 at this point.
depending on how much time actually elapsed during his travels from new Nora to theexplanation site and all this other stuff going on.
(23:09):
So 18 years old has a true form.
Rishans Rishans's an asshole.
We don't like him.
We don't want to give the company to Rishans.
He cheated though.
He didn't earn his.
just was born an asshole.
he got his.
He just happened to have been able to bond with the correct thing that he happened to be.
Yes.
(23:30):
We digress.
So with a dying wish, Volke is just going straight beast mode.
Now he's got a broken leg.
He got shot in the back with a bullet from the unicorn Arcanist.
Just not fully physically recovered.
Obviously he got all of that strength for the magic from becoming a true form and beingrelieved of the plague, but obviously not everything was healed.
(23:59):
He decides that he's going to do his best to try and find everyone else to make sure thatthey're okay because Fluffy decided, or Fluffy was told to take off after the rest of the
arcane, everybody else, Karna, Adelgis Fain.
It took me a second, but I got there.
(24:22):
It literally just clicked with me as soon as I said it.
I'm like, yay.
So Volke is now determined to at least make sure that they are okay.
Even though he's able to see through the dark, he does get turned around.
He ends up being lost.
He doesn't go back through the way he's supposed to.
He is starting to realize that he again doesn't feel right and he starts to feel like he'sdying.
(24:47):
And it reminds me back at Dread Pirate Arcanist where he says that misfortune is his onlysibling.
And again,
slowly seeing him degrade and on the plus side, it look at the boxes we're supposed to bechecking off here.
Cure the arcane plague, check, finding out who more information about the second ascensioncheck, taking out the Autarch.

We'll leave that one off, you know, off the, can't check that one off yet, but, he diddestroy the, excavation site and he got rid of.
everything else.
So he decides that he's basically at a point where he can, he can die peacefully.
Even, even talking, even reading this a second time, it did not keep me from, from, fromtearing up.
(25:40):
I was actually sitting at work and I'm just like, gosh, why did I do this to myself?
So, in Volke's illusion or basically a mirage comes up.
to him of Illia and that she is there.
He imagines that she's there and he says that he touches her and she feels real andeverything, but he's like, there's no way.
(26:06):
He does give death the accolade for making it such a spectacular delusion.
He finally tells Illia that he loves her and that he should have done things differentlyfrom the beginning.
And she does tell him that she loves him back.
Again,
Volke is just making peace with himself that he's dying and that it's, this is the
(26:32):
Illia kind of vanishes comes back with Zaxis and Zaxis comes over and starts to healVolke.
And I imagine that Volke is still like, this is, this is some kind of delusion.
Like, is the weirdest dream.
Right.
Like, my gosh.
Like this would be perfect if it was actually happening, but it's probably not.

So Volke finally, finally realizes that he's not having an illusion.
This is real.
He finally gets healed enough where he's able to stand up and Zaxis of all people arecrying over Volke.
(27:14):
Never thought I'd see the day.
No, you know, back, back to the second chapter of Knightmare Arcanist where they prettymuch loathe each other from the beginning.
Zaxis is crying over Volke and he will never admit it,
Dang it, is written and it is in history.
(27:36):
We saw the terrors.
So there's no writing this off.
So Volke gets teleported back to where everybody else is from the frith guild.
He gets dog piled by Raisen who has four heads now.
Four, not two, that he left off with.
(27:58):
And Raisen's like 250 pounds now, so
He's massive.
we have Titania, we have traces, we have Akhat, the Khapera, we have Tine, the bluePhoenix.
And of course to top off the dog pile, Maceos, Captain Devlin's roc because she lovesherself a good dog pile.

She says, remind us now.
Atty sees him after he gets out of the dog pile and runs up in my, in my Hickman.
She runs up to Volke and gives him a hug.
I I imagine she like stops for like half a second to be like, I'm sorry, like show toomuch emotion, get it under check.

Like I miss you Volke hug.
And she gives him some medicine to help with whatever he was shot with.
Things are pretty much like on the up and up now, but I want it to be clear that Atty wasthe Frith person to basically run up and hug Volke.
So obviously there's some kind of feels there.

He is a ladies man.
He is.
So as soon as he breaks apart from Atty, Hexa dang near like knocks him over tackles himbecause she's so excited to see him.
And then Eviana comes over and essentially is going to like try to tackle him, I imagine.
But she's like as much as a leaf.
(29:21):
So she doesn't really have the same effect that Hexa did.
But we know your heart's in the right place.
You tried.
Right.
As Volke is walking back towards the ship.
And, and again, Sun Chasers there.
the airship Evianna will not let Volke go.
And I like this just cause it's like, don't know.
(29:41):
You ain't leaving.
You've got to train me now.
Okay.
Like we're Knightmares all right.
We got it.
We got to do the knightmare We got to train me properly.
Especially now that you got your evolved one.
I want one of those.
How do I get an evolved knightmare?
I almost said evolve Pokemon.
First you get it to level 36.

And then just stuff a bunch of rare candies down its throat until it...
So Captain Devlin and Zelfree are hanging out in front of the airship and Volke's like, Igot to tell you everything right now.
And all the plans that's going on with the second Ascension and Zelfree's kind of like,okay, okay, let's like, like, let's, let's get up on the ship here.

Come
We can, we can discuss this on, on the ship.
come on.
Okay.
Like the longer you're doing this, the longer it's taking.
Get on the ship.
We can start moving.
Okay.
Come on.
And one of the last lines in this book is Zelfree saying, and we're also going to have tohave a talk about how none of my apprentices listen to a damn word I have to say.

You're supposed to be the good one.
We've been preaching this for so
Nobody listens to Zelfree
my Lord.
Again, it's like, if you would just listen to Zelfree for five seconds.
I mean, they did it once.

And it worked.
It did work.
They ended up being able to compete in the tournament like they wanted to.
But he had to have a tournament to encourage them to listen.
And with that ends book four, Plague Arcanist.

man, like I said, such feels.
know Shami has constantly said that she cried writing the book and she was the one thatthought of balling it up.
So, you know, I, it's a lot of, I love this book.
I love the very end of the book.
Just chef's kiss.

And with that, we are going to jump into our bestiary section, the Atlas tortoise.
(31:58):
And I can only think of the Atlas tortoise as nothing other than just a giant tortera.
If you watch the new Detective Pikachu movie with Ryan Reynolds, that, is what I see asthat.
Let's turn tortoise far as the mythology goes.
We kind of assume it's based off the world turtle tortoise mythologies.
(32:21):
it's considered, it's called the world turtle, also called the cosmic turtle or the worldbearing turtle.
We see this in the Hindu mythologies, the Chinese mythologies and some mythologies.
from the indigenous peoples of America.
As far as anything else goes, there's quite a lot that we don't know for sure.
(32:41):
We can make a lot of astute guesses mainly because the Atlas tortoise and the Atlas turtleare fairly similar in its abilities.
One can swim, one walks on land.
That's really the big differences between the two.
So for Trial of Worth, we're again, we're
(33:01):
guessing, pretty sure that it has something to do with protecting something precious.
Gonna say that it's a tier three.
I don't think there's gonna be any argument that it's for it being anything other than atier three.
We do know that it had, again, I'm going to guess that it's a progeny reproduction.
It is able to evoke barriers and manipulate grounds and plants.
(33:26):
The Atlas tortoise is able to manipulate the ground just as if a gargoyle can manipulaterocks or stone golems, kind of thing.
Not too sure about the augmentation or passive abilities.
It's aura, true form, true appearance.
Again, a lot of question marks with it.
(33:46):
Hopefully once the bestiary is released and is able to be discussed.
We will be able to have more information on the Atlas tortoise, but again, a lot of theinformation we're going to guess is basically the same as the Atlas turtle.
The other day I want to mention about the, the Atlas tortoise that we saw in this lastchapters.
(34:08):
It was a dread form and it was stated that there was, there was actually a tombstone onthe tortoise's shell.
Once it was killed, that tombstone fell off.
Volke also did find a kirin
in the back of this tortoise.
So I assume the Arcanist that was, I think it's Tamoi was the name of the Arcanist.
(34:34):
So we assume he was a kirin Arcanist along with the Atlas tortoise, but Volke's just likemeh.
It's not going to bond with anybody else.
So I'll just leave it there.
now that we have our true form knightmare, we're going to dive pretty deep into them.
So mythology Knightmares are based on tales of
ghost soldiers from Okinawa.
(34:57):
So there's a lot of different myths that are centered around soldiers who die in thebattlefield.
Okinawa is probably one of the more famous and one of more documented ones.
These myths are anything from specter samurai, people saying that ghosts need to fulfillsome sort of goal before they can depart, in areas that are so haunted that suicides are
(35:21):
documented
Military housing gets condemned.
And these stories really influenced the creation of the knightmare who's born from thedeath of a ruler.
It also comes from the idea of Knightmares being able to merge, which is similar to ghostsbeing able to possess people and carry out actions through
(35:42):
The trial of worth is demonstrating virtue and conviction.
This is usually in the form of saving someone's life or the potential cost of losing yourown.
we saw Volke at the very, very beginning saving someone's life from...
We see this at the beginning with Volke saving Lyle from a plague stag.
(36:05):
And then we also see this with Evianna who steps in the way to try
save Volke's life because she's tired of seeing the people around her die.
Nightmares are tier three, and their reproduction is fabled again being born when the soulruler of the land is assassinated or killed by betrayal.
(36:25):
The blood mixes with the shadow and the new knightmare forms out of this and we saw thisactually happen with Layshl So excited for that happened.
I know.
They are able to evoke terrors, so one
Volks go to is being able to evoke hallucinations that are sent to the mind of the target.
They manipulate shadows, can move, harden them into objects.
(36:49):
These are, however, easily destroyed by light.
Augmentation, they are also able to augment shadows so they can grant people to seethrough shadows.
And when they augment themselves, they can gain the ability to shadow step throughdarkness, moving as though they were a shadow.
Passive abilities, they are able to merge with the Arcanist, becoming a single being thatlive and die together.
(37:11):
They can see through darkness, they're immune to most forms of fear and other terrors, andthey have increased strength when they're in the darkness.
Their aura is the Eclipse aura, which creates a shadow that blots out the sun or the moon,blanking everything in artificial darkness.
And their true form is virtue, so the Arcanist
(37:33):
embodies the ideals of a fallen knight willing to stand in the face of something dark nomatter the personal cost really sacrificing everything and being willing to sacrifice
everything for their cause.
Once they gain their true form they do get a cape or scarf form into wings and the armorbecomes enhanced to become more deadly so the gauntlets turn into claws they become
(38:00):
much more dexterous and they're able to shift around their body a lot more.
Their true form ability, which we haven't seen come into plague, is no falsehood.
So when they get their true form, the Arcanist are able to detect when people are lying tothem.
I would love that.
I love that ability.
Just stop your line.

Just a little tingle.
Little tingles.
Yeah, that's not right.
