Black Butts brought to you by Cadillac, the official luxury

Big show coming your way today, folks. We have some
great guests coming your way. We have a Nick bomb
Gardner from The Athletic does a great job covering the draft.
Cynthia Freeland, who obviously is the analytics expert for NFL Network.
(00:50):
We're gonna have great cosell Uh, longtime NFL Films producer,
creator of the Matchup Show. And we're gonna have Connor
Rodgers who covers the draft for NBC. So big show
coming your way today. We'll get to those interviews in
a second. But Paul, we did have some news today,
Abdul Carter. We knew he wasn't gonna work out, but
then they did the medicals on him and they found
(01:11):
out he is a I'm gonna term it this a
minor stress fracture in his foot. I call it minor
because reports seem to indicate he's not gonna have to
have surgery on it, which is good for him. He
says he's gonna be ready to go and work out
on his pro day in about a month. But he's
not working out. And that's a little thing to note
for a guy that most people expect to be one
(01:31):
of the top three picks in the draft.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Well, you consider that he and Travis Hunter are the
consensus two best players above and beyond everybody else in
this raft, and now we find out there is a glitch. Now,
when we talked to Carter on the podium two days ago, John,
he had just come from his medicals, and you know,
no one had asked him about that because nobody had
a clue.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Well, I remember, they might have not looked at the images.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yet they may not have, right, he certainly didn't offer that,
and why would you. But I think the interesting part
here now is that even though the experts have assumed
again the reports are it don't have the surgery. Well
that's good, but that's still something that's got to heal.
And every team's medical staff is now going to have
to consult with their general manager and say, Okay, how
(02:17):
do you view this?
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Is it a real yellow flag? Is it a red flag?
Speaker 5 (02:24):
It?
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Can it get worse? I mean, I've never had one. John,
Here's what I do know. Ahmad Bradshaw for the Giants
running back who we all know and love, had to
miss practice upon practice upon practice throughout his career because
they had to save all of his reps for game
day because he had a stress fracture in his foot
(02:45):
and it never fully healed.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Right, So you have to take this into account when
you grade. Abdul Carter.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Yes, So we also spoke to all the dbs today.
We'll talk about that at the end of the show.
Where we kind of gleaned from talking to the defensive
bats today and the tight ends. I thought a lot
of interesting I had to talk to you, So we'll
touch on that on the final segment of the show.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Let's take a quick break.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
When we come back, we'll hear from Connor Rodgers from
NBC Sports, Hey, how are you.
Speaker 6 (03:15):
I'm Kavana likes to meet you.
Speaker 7 (03:17):
For me, it's just a blessing to always be that
impact for somebody else. I always say, try to be
somebody to somebody. So when I got my feet in
my hands.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
Smooth just as fast.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
Right.
Speaker 7 (03:26):
It's been great, getting to learn a lot, getting meet
a lot of kids. It kind of reminds you of
where he used to be, and it reminds you of
the impact that people have in your life.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
There you go.
Speaker 7 (03:35):
I think we have a tremendous impact on them, just
being able to bring him a smile on the day
and be able to, you know, really interact with them
and get to know.
Speaker 8 (03:41):
Them everyone or hey, you know, really getting to step
back and enjoy the moments.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Josh malth Pultatino, joined by Connor Rodgers from NBC Sports.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Connor, what's up man? Not much in a lot.
Speaker 9 (04:00):
It's a lot of fun down here, man, just running around.
Everybody's getting into the draft. So I really appreciate you
guys having.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Me now, We appreciate you coming on and we'll talk
to Connor more detail on a giant huddle later on
in the process. Let's kind of start here before we
dig a little bit deeper into this process. What do
you think the top of this draft is gonna look
like when all is said and done, Titans, I'll take
it as far to the Jets if.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
You want, what do you think this is going to
look like?
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Because I think once you get past Carter and Hunter,
there's not a whole lot of agreement on comes next
after those two guys.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
There really isn't.
Speaker 9 (04:31):
I think that teams will really really like Will Campbell
and the demand for offensive line will put him in
that top seven group. The question is, and teams are
gonna be torn on this.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Is he a tackle?
Speaker 5 (04:42):
Is he a go?
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Already played left tackle for LSU.
Speaker 9 (04:44):
If I'm guessing, I think his arm length will come
in a little under the common threshold around here thirty three.
I would get to thirty three plus, like it's gonna
be started tackle the Yeah, he needs to get to
thirty three, But it'll be torn for teams.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Some teams won't care.
Speaker 9 (04:57):
They'll think the lower half is explosive enough that he
makes up for it. I'd put him in that group.
You always trying to pick the group of players, you know,
figuring out how they're gonna fall could be a little tricky.
Cam Mood's gonna go in that top seven. Do I
think he'll go number one? It doesn't really signs don't
really point that way. He's a wild card. And obviously
we fell to the Giants at three, and their free
agency doesn't go a certain way, maybe that becomes in play.
(05:18):
Mason gramm will go in that group for sure. The
Michigan defensive tackle Jacksonville's just such a no brainer fit
for him in.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
The top five.
Speaker 9 (05:24):
So the way the can bull is Patriots and that,
and then you kind of fall into this bucket like
is Shader gonna slide on Draft night?
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Nobody really knows what's the because.
Speaker 9 (05:34):
The problem is you need the pro market to settle
to figure out who really needs a quarterback? Right Where
is Matthew Stafford gonna go if he goes anywhere? Where
is Russell Wilson gonna go?
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Justin fields?
Speaker 9 (05:43):
And I know these aren't insane inspiring names after Stafford,
but they're starting quarterbacks in the league. So and then
you kind of get into the guys that are fringe
guys like Ken Tet McMillan or Tyler Warren. You know,
two pass catchers sneak into that top seven. Will Johnson,
the corner from Michigan, who I don't think will go
in that top seven now. I think the injured season
cost him a couple of spots. And then everybody else
is wondering is there a second offensive lineman after Will Campbell,
(06:06):
whether it is an armand Membu from Missouri, a guy
like Kelvin Banks from Texas who had a really.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Really good year.
Speaker 9 (06:12):
There's a couple of guys, you know, we're waiting on
medical questions as well, So it's as wide open as
it could really be after Carter and Hunter. Who Yeah,
I say some combo of in the top three picks,
but you know, we'll see. So you do a lot
of work with the Jets broadcast team as well, And
I think it's interesting that the Jets and the Giants
both have a very very skimpy quarterbacks rule.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Yeah, I'm trying to be nice.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Yeah, So what are the odds that both of these
teams are looking for the same.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Guy to solve their problem?
Speaker 2 (06:44):
And what are the odds that the Jets might feel
they've got to do a preactive, preemptive strike on the
Giants to get the guy they want.
Speaker 9 (06:51):
That's a fascinating scenario. I think in a perfect world,
both teams would love to add a viable starting quarterback
in the pro market right now. For the Jets, I
would say it's a lesser degree because they're already paying
Tyrod Taylor this year.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
But would if they go out.
Speaker 9 (07:04):
And explore Justin Fields and you're going into camp with
Fields and Tyrod, and then you feel like, hey, we
could draft a guy in the third or fourth round
and let him sit behind those two guys and we'll
see if they get anything from Jordan Travis this year.
With the Giants, it's really interesting because if you call
off a Stafford trade, you're not talking about a quarterback
at three anymore, right. But if you don't and then
you know you're buying in a different bracket, whether that
(07:26):
is a Russell Wilson, whoever it may be, then I
think you still are You're still looking at it, and
you're saying, well, now, our advantage is we don't need
to throw that player into the fire, and we don't
need to make a panic move up to one.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
We could sit at three.
Speaker 9 (07:37):
If cam Ward falls the three, great we'd probably love
to have him in that scenario. If cam Ward is
gone and we're a little split on a guy like
Shader Sanders, maybe we'll wait until round two and we'll
look at Jackson Dart or we'll look later on day
two and look at Will Howard or whoever it may be.
So it is fascinating. I think everybody's kind of in
this old Western showdown where they're figuring out camp Mord
(07:57):
I think is the consensus top quarterback. That's the feeling
I get. I know for me personally, it's been that way,
But I think in the NFL he's gonna have more
of the top quarterback grades than anybody else by a
wide margin. Now everybody's trying to figure out the poker
face of the Titans really just not gonna take a
quarterback number one overall. The Browns, I think they'll go
after a veteran like if Kirk Cousins ended up there,
I wouldn't be shocked at all. And then you're not
(08:19):
talking about a quarterback as too anymore. You're talking about
a player and the amounter of extra picks if they
really do move on for Miles Garrett, which makes it
that much more fascinating, so then you could have I
think the Jets would be open to making a move
for a guy like cam Ward if he started to fall.
I don't see the Jets going up to number one overall.
Those guys just got there. You're gonna trade your future
drafts and say this is the guy we have to have.
I think it's easier to have patients when you're in
(08:40):
Aaron Glenn and Darren Moogie Shoes or Joe Shane and
Brian Dable, like, you need to have somebody under center
that can win you games this year. There has to
be urgency, So depending on what they do in the
pro market will dictate that level of urgency in the draft.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
And Joe Shane was pretty clear about in this press
that he knows he knows.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
So I guess my question.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Let's say they get someone they feel really good about
that you know, next few years you can start him
with back a good But you want to draft a
developmental quarterback on thy two sure draft. Do you have
a favorite tier two, tier three quarterback that you think
if you get in your system for a couple of years,
you can develop in something.
Speaker 9 (09:10):
Yeah, I mean a couple of months ago, I felt
like Dart was that guy. He's gotten out of that tier, Like,
I really think somebody can come back into round one
and take him where. I don't consider him in that
bracket anymore. When you think tier two, you're thinking.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Like, who's the guy?
Speaker 9 (09:22):
Like when Will Levis fell and he still went in
the top forty. But you use this, you know, Tennessee
was the second round pick on Will Levis. That's kind
of what you're looking at. Man, it's wide open. I
think Kyle McCord did some really good things at Syracuse
this year. He saw the accuracy, he saw the touch
at all three levels. He was a really different player
when he transferred to Syracuse from Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
The mobility is a big deal for a lot of guys,
right and.
Speaker 9 (09:42):
Will Howard has some of that from Ohio State wins
the national championship. But I liked about Howard was this year.
You watch him in the offense the first I would say,
until about the end of October, and you looked like
a guy that kind of wanted to be along for
the ride, play point guard. Then you watch the last
two months of the season. He wanted to elevate the offense.
He wanted to make plays. He wanted to take chances
and make big throws. So Bill Howard would fall into
(10:02):
that bracket from me, Milrow exceptional running ability. He is
so streaky as a passer and inconsistent that I just
don't think you're gonna play him this year. I think
he really he really needs to sit. If he went
to a team with a shaky quarterback situation, could he
have some packages in the red zone. Because he's a
gifted runner, without a doubt, But he really just needs
so much seasoning.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
We saw it at the Senior Bowl.
Speaker 9 (10:22):
He didn't have a great week at the Senior Bowl
in terms of inaccuracies as well. So that's kind of
that bracket right there. All those guys, they'll probably hear
their name called off the board in rounds two and three.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
What's interesting to me, Connor, is that if you look
at and I know there'll be a certain mixture depending
upon who you talk to, but maybe the top ten
consensus quarterbacks in this draft. We've all heard how it
may not be the most sexy draft for qbs. But
what I found when I went through the parcels rules
and I applied them to all of these guys they
checked almost every.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
One of plus played a lot of college football.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
Specifically because of experience, winning and touchdown to interception ratio
all very important.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
These guys.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Maybe they won't have the ceiling, but I got a
feeling we're gonna see a lot of backup quarterbacks come
out of this if.
Speaker 9 (11:08):
I completely agree with you, and I think I didn't
even bring up Tyler Shuck from Louisville, who has a
big arm. He's played a lot of college football.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
A lot of that is because he was injured early on.
Speaker 9 (11:17):
I think he has six full years of college football,
three programs once upon a time, big recruit, huge arm,
somebody that I don't think is very mobile, which is
kind of interesting in this era when you are a
true pocket passer, and he'll be a twenty five year
old rookie, so some teams will be deterred from that.
But that's somebody to me that stands out NFL. Arm
played really clean football for Louisville this year. Could push
the ball vertically as well as really anybody I think
(11:39):
in this class at times where you look at him
and go, can he be a long term backup? I
look at McCord that way as well. Riley Leonard will
be interesting to see. I don't think he goes till
day three. But he can run, he can manage the offense.
He did a lot of good things at Duke. He
dealt with some injury, and then you look at what
he did at Notre Dame. I know he knew how
to manage the offense and play within it. So I
think there's a lot of backup quarterback types in this
(12:00):
People always want to, you know, project this ceiling that
everyone has to be a starter, and that's not the
world that all quarterback prospects live in.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
There's a lot of depth for backups.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Yeah, Giants have another premium pick. I picked number thirty four.
You got to get a really good player at that spot.
I think some teams that might have one player at
fifteen on their board could be at forty on another
day in this draft. So who are some of the
guys that you would kind of circle for the Giants
at thirty four that you think really great value bang
for the buck that fits an even more importantly for
(12:28):
the Giants. He's just a really really talented.
Speaker 9 (12:29):
Player, right, And there's so you can go so many
ways with this, right, do you look at it and
go we want a true number two outside wide receiver
where we like our personnel to be Malik obviously in
that and Wandale in that, but we want a perimeter player,
maybe somebody that's six foot four and somebody that can
give you a little bit.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
More red zone juice. Right.
Speaker 9 (12:46):
I look at Jayden Higgins from Iowa State and think
he's just what a player, right, And he's so consistent
over the last couple of years. He just really good hands,
he moves good at that size, ball tracking skills, run
after the catchability. That would be somebody that fits that
mult same with Jack beshromt Tieu former tight end. So
he's two hundred and twenty pounds. He could block, really
good hands, physical over the middle of the field. If
they want to go pass catcher, they can go that room.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Do you like the Stanford wide receiver, another bigger guy
kind of in there.
Speaker 9 (13:10):
I like him, I don't love him because he constantly
has to play in congested areas. He doesn't run away
from a lot of people, and at Higgins's size, he
surprisingly does. Yeah, And you can live like that in
the NFL. But it's a tough way to live because
when you get to the if you weren't running away
from a lot of people at the college level.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
And I'll give Iomanner a lot of credit.
Speaker 9 (13:28):
Another great blocker, like tough, physical, younger player in this class.
But it's tough to make a living in the NFL
when you're constantly having to go above the rim, and
he might be able to do it. But you like
guys that could separate a little bit more consistently. And
then you look at like, are they gonna look at
this offensive line class and say, Hey, one of the
guys we thought was gonna go in the first round
is gonna fall, and we're gonna take him.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Whether we want to beef up our.
Speaker 9 (13:50):
Interior with a Gray Zabel, I mean repressed. He could
probably play center or guard at the NFL level. And
you love that flexibility, you really really, and that's where
he should go, right you know that thirty fourth pick
kind of range right outside the first round. Zabel would
bring a lot of juice to the offensive line. I
thought he was so clean and pass pro at the
Senior Bowl. And if you want a true tackle, like
what if a Josh Connery falls, what if a guy
(14:11):
like Simmons from Ohio State falls after he tore up
his knees this year. Like that, those are guys that
you look, ang, go man, we might be getting a
discount here where we're gonna get a franchise caliber tackle
that we want to play on.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
The right side.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
The Minnesota tackle.
Speaker 9 (14:24):
Is another guy where you know there's a world where
maybe Ersery makes it to sixty five and maybe maybe
he's just kind of a forgotten man. He was okay
this year. I thought he was a little better the
year before, but I thought he was great in mobile.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
I thought he looked good in one on ones.
Speaker 9 (14:36):
You see the bass so sturdy, three hundred and thirty pounds,
good feet. So I think their Day two strategy, can
you get some depth that's going to start eventually on
your offensive line. Can you find another pass catcher for
this offense? And then if you're the Giants, I like
Tyrone Tracy a lot, you can capitalize in the depth
of this running back class on Day three to give
a viable backup solution to Tracy or somebody that splits touches,
maybe takes on a different role. You look at Allen
(14:58):
from Syracuse Patch to pass catching unning back. Maybe they
like Tracy in that pass catching role instead, and they
want more of a banger between the.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Tackles, which is how I would go. I would go
that way too.
Speaker 9 (15:06):
If you can get somebody a little physical between the
tackles downhill, maybe they look at it as bigger need
than we do here and they go, hey, in the
in the second round, we like Quinn Shawn Judkins or
Caleb Johnson from Iowa. We want to be a scatboo scataboo.
I think third round. I don't know if he's going
to run before the draft, and everybody is kind of
just the speed is the question.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
He did break a four six like it's a real I.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Don't think so.
Speaker 9 (15:27):
I don't think so, and I don't I think that's okay.
By the way, that's what's funny when people last said
they look you and go but you hate him. No,
it's just he reminds me so much of Vermandre Stevenson,
who also ran I think a four to six three Yes, yes,
same body, really both good in pass pro, soft hands
for bigger guys and people bounce off of them. And
Ramondre has been beat up over the years, and there
(15:48):
was some of the fumble issues this year, but once
upon a time he was a hell of a player
for that team. They're very similar to me, and I
think the usage should be the same.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
John Bhra was very clear one of his top three
priorities for team going into this year was to get
a better rush defense because he was tired of seeing
teams run up and down the field against his Giants. Well,
we know defensive tackle is supposed to be the deepest
by fisial position in this draft. So I'm gonna say
to you, where does the run start or the second
(16:19):
run of DT's how far deep can you go and
still get a guy who's literally a plug and play
guy who can help this rush defense.
Speaker 9 (16:27):
I think you can get that with the sixty fifth pick.
And I'm talking about a real player, like a good player,
Alfred Collins from Texas. I mean he's played all up
and down the line for Texas, a lot of nose tackle,
which is what you like, because if you can play
true nose tackle at the college level and you show
you could hold up on the point of attack when
you have you know, the combo blocks and the centers
and guards are really getting up to you, and you
hold the point of attack. You're probably gonna do pretty
(16:47):
well at the NFL level in that role. Collins could
be there at sixty five. He might be one of
the guys that falls because there's not much pass rush
ability while all these guys have crazy pass rush ability.
I love Jamari Caldwell from Oregon. I don't know if
he even in the third round, three hundred and forty pounds,
great feet. You look at all the organ guys that
get all this love. You know, Jordan Burch's one, obviously harm.
Speaker 5 (17:07):
In this one.
Speaker 9 (17:08):
He's the guy holding all the blockers up. It's I mean,
phenomenal what he did on tape this year. That's a
value play. I don't think there's ever a place where
you're just out of luck.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
I really know.
Speaker 9 (17:18):
I mean, we're gonna see Mason Graham go in the
top seven picks. We're gonna see Walter Nolan from ole
Misco in the top twelve picks, top twelve for.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Him, you really think, I think so.
Speaker 9 (17:27):
Des tackle the yeah who they just don't move like him,
And there's a lot of risk with that.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
There is a lot of risk with that.
Speaker 9 (17:35):
But and then it's just gonna it's just gonna scattershot
all the way through. But it depends what you need,
like even if you need super big discount. Jordan Phillips
from Maryland. I mean he's he's an oak tree in
his base that could just uh championship weightlifter in high school.
He's somebody that he's not gonna give you anything against
the pass. But hey, base downs, first and second down.
I need you to sit in the middle of the
defensive line and eat up as much space as you can.
(17:57):
You probably get him.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
In the fourth orifth round. J. J. Pageze also ran
the ball.
Speaker 9 (18:02):
Yeah, yeah, which is unbelievable. There's so many defensive linemen
that are NFL caliber starters. We when we did on
the PFF Sack e Change Potter rankings, I think I
ranked fifteen. I watched seventeen. I feel like I'm not
even halfway done. I'm gonna have to watch thirty four
defensive lineman. I think when all is said and done,
it's it's it's just that deep.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Like look at Yaha Black from Iowa.
Speaker 9 (18:23):
He probably goes in the sixth round and he could
be in a rotation for you because he's just he's
he was.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
One of the most physically gifted guys in the Senior
Bowl there he consisted as hell.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
But I mean, right, just gifted.
Speaker 9 (18:32):
Yeah, he's just out there really, you know, still learn
how to hand placement and get off the ball. He's
still off, but he's huge and he doesn't really get
moved around. So I don't it's I know, it's insane
to answer the question that way. I don't think the
run ever stops. I think we'll see starters in the
sixth round of this draft.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (18:48):
My advice to teams like the Giants and the Jets,
I would take two of them. I would take one
in the first three rounds and I take one in
the back hand there. Why not, You're gonna hit like
you're playing the odds.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
You're gonna hit and you get Look, you can never
have a rotational defensive line.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Our final question.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Before we let you go, do you have a Day
three pet cat that maybe you like better than other
people that we should put on people.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Oh, you're excited about it?
Speaker 9 (19:09):
He got Jacob Parrish, Kansas State corner, five foot nine.
I feel like nobody cares about him. I think in
terms of being sticky, like best pure cover player. He's
in the top five of this corners and just coverage
skills right like staying with guy. He's gonna have an
interesting transition because at Kansas City was an outside corner
at five foot nine. He's probably gonna kick into the
nickel at the next level, although I wouldn't bet against
him if he did play some outside corner high school
(19:31):
track champion like sprint speed, He's gonna light it up here.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
If he runs.
Speaker 9 (19:35):
He just he's he has the right DNA where you
think he's a six foot one corner playing in a
five foot nine corner's body loves to play the ball,
gets after it against the run. He's just so hard
to get away from. He matches movements. It's really perfect.
He's twenty years old, so this is somebody with a
lot of upside as well. Declared early for the draft,
I think Parish is a really, really good player on
(19:57):
floored that he's not in everyone's top seventy five plays
in this draft. If he doesn't go in the third round,
he'll be one of the biggest values on dat Wow.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
Connor good stuff.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
My friend enjoyed the rest of your week to see
He mentioned the Stock is Change podcast. That's my a
PFF find out on your favorite podcast platform.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
And then what do you do for NBC that the
folks you know about.
Speaker 9 (20:14):
I got forty interviews with players this week. I can't
wait to see him.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
They' all be up on YouTube.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
Forty.
Speaker 9 (20:18):
We'll split him up between me, Sims, Fourio, Nicole Hour
back and we're gonna talk to these guys and learn
what they're about. It's it's all in the NFL and
NBC YouTube channel.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
It's a lot of fun. Make sure you.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
Guys go check that out. All right, we'll be back
with more on Big We'll kick off live after this.
Speaker 10 (20:31):
All right, Sean, we got three thirty five Max Bace,
we got X post.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
Okay, here's the post signal. I get your post signal.
Give me a good fake right behind men, see, I
got you all right? What it did? I decided there?
Oh he looks, he looks, he's open.
Speaker 4 (20:47):
Go get it, go get it right.
Speaker 11 (20:54):
Let's go.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
Also, great Rowt money was money, I think shatter, Yes,
it was awesome.
Speaker 10 (21:08):
Let's go across the lines, across the lot.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
All right, we're back here on Big Blue. Kickoff Live
from the NFL Combine, Indianapolis. John Schmunk pulled Theatino and
now we're joined by producer.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
Is that your official NFL analyst in NFL films? Great
CoA Sllen, whatever you want to.
Speaker 11 (21:26):
Call I haven't called a lot of things about especially.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
I like that he goes if he's part of the
NFL Matchup show as well, does a great job with
that with our man south Pack created that show?
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Were you the creator of that show?
Speaker 11 (21:38):
I didn't do that in nineteen eighty four. It's been
on every year since.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
I didn't know you're the creator.
Speaker 11 (21:41):
That's I was. I created that show. Great, he was on.
He was initially on.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
You know that. I used to watch it.
Speaker 11 (21:48):
Steve Sable, Chris Berman, and Ali Sherman. We love nineteen
eighty four Love Galley.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
That's phenomenal. I love that, all right, So let's let's
dig into it. And obviously the Giants.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Are gonna have to figure out their quarterback position here
Greg one way or the other.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
We have the drafting were for agencies. Let's take him
in the order in which they occur in real life.
So let's start with free agency.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
There are a number of veterans that could become available
VIY for agency or of trade, right that the Giants might.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
Avail themselves of in terms of quarterback.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
What's your take on some of these guys and how
much maybe some of them have left them?
Speaker 11 (22:20):
So the free agents, again, I'm very much in draft
mode now. So the free like Russell.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
Wilson, Russell Wilson justin Field would be the two major
veteran free agents.
Speaker 11 (22:29):
So they're actual free agents. Yes, so they are not
under contract, correct? I mean, I guess the name that
is on everybody's lips right now, and he's under contract,
so he's not available technically, But that would be Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
And there are reports that the Rams have allowed his agents.
Speaker 11 (22:44):
Right, that's what you read. So, I mean, I guess
we'll find out how all that plays out. I personally
think Stafford, I'll tell you this, going around talking to
people last summer, and I don't think there was anything
about this season that changed that viewpoint. Going around and
talking to coaches last summer and you said who's the
best quarterback in the NFC? Automatically they said Matthew Stafford.
(23:07):
So to me, I've always loved watching Matthew Stafford. You know,
he's a tremendous throw over the football. He's incredibly smart
and aware. There's plays every year when I watch him
on tape where he changes plays at the lion and
just makes a great play. So I've always been a
big Matthew Stafford. Believe he just throws the ball at
(23:30):
a really, really high level. You know, obviously he needs
to be protected. I guess you could say that's been
an issue with the Giants, but you know, he obviously
needs to be protected. I guess I'm being kind there.
You are, yes, but you know, to me the other
free agent, the true free agent.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
Real quickly before you jump to that, have you seen
any slippage from him at age thirty seven?
Speaker 11 (23:50):
Not in my opinion, Okay, not in my opinion. But
you know, if you get to the free agents, I
think those are stop gap guys. And you know, again
we live in a world where that can sometimes be
the way it is. But you know, I don't look
at Russell Wilson or Justin Fields as a guy you'd
sign and feel like I'm set for the next three
(24:10):
four years. I don't think either one of those guys
is that guy.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Now.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
In talking to Phil Simms recently, my buddy, Yeah, he
said to me that he thinks that the achilles injury
that Kirk Cousins endured the previous year, yes, impacted his mechanics.
Speaker 11 (24:27):
It did, and.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Led to what looked like a dead.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Arm in the second half of the season. What is
your opinion from watching the tape?
Speaker 11 (24:36):
I tell you what struck me with Cousins, And I
don't think we'd ever say Cousins had a power arm,
but he had a good arm. What struck me and
all this goes together. I mean, I don't think any
of us, you know, we're not professional athletes, and we
don't know what it's like to work through an injury,
but I think it impacts everything about the way you play,
(24:56):
and there's probably a major mental side to that which
we can't know. But I thought that Cousins so uncharacteristically
did not see the field the way he's done almost
all his career. Because say what you want about Kirk Cousins,
and I know there's mixed opinions about him, but every
year he throw thirty five touchdowns and ten interceptions, and
(25:17):
he was really, really good. And as the kind of
quarterback he is, which is essentially a pocket quarterback, which
I know a lot of people believe that that particular
style of quarterback is not really in vogue these days
unless you're special. But he just threw some balls this
year that I would watch the tape and go he
(25:38):
never makes those kinds of poor decisions, So to me,
without knowing what's in his head, I would probably say
that just the whole injury impacted everything about the way
in which he played, and it just wasn't a comfortable
season for him at all.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
All right, let's jump to the draft.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
Now, Okay, there are two quarterbacks that most people consider
to be at the top. For me personally, I have
some separation between those two players more than I think
maybe some others do. What's your take on this rookie
class and coming out in the class in terms of
the quarterbacks in the twenty twenty five years?
Speaker 11 (26:08):
And I've done all these top quarterbacks. To me, I
think cam Ward is clearly the number one quarterback in
this press.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
So do I agree, sir?
Speaker 11 (26:17):
And to be honest with you, now, I did cam
Ward last summer from his last year at Washington State,
and I did seven or eight games this year, and
I do not understand why he's not being talked about
at a higher level. He's a really gifted player. I mean,
he throws the ball exceedingly well. He can work from
the pocket efficiently. He's got very good second reaction movement ability,
(26:40):
which again is something that a lot of people feel
is becoming more and more necessary in the league right now.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
In the pocket.
Speaker 11 (26:48):
No, And I happen to know people at Washington State
who said that he is an absolute dog and he's
totally accountable, that he's that kind of kid. And I know,
like Lewis Ridick is in our building in NFL Films
every Tuesday doing Turning Point and he's done four cam
Ward games. He raves about the kid because you know,
(27:09):
he gets a chance to talk to him ously. I don't,
you know. I'm just sitting in my office in Films
watching tape. But I just don't understand why he's not
being talked about at a higher level. I think the
traits are pretty high level to me, and what I've
learned about him as an individual just really makes me
feel even better about him. So to me, he's clearly
the number one quarterback in this draft.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
And if I may to follow up on that, Greg
one of the things that I like the most about
him because I agree that he's the number one QB,
that I would take him at number three, But.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
I do think he's the best one because of his arm.
Speaker 11 (27:43):
Strength and Bill is very good, by the way.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
Yes, because of his ability to throw off angle throws
and off schedule.
Speaker 11 (27:51):
And sit on his back foot when there's bodies around
him and still drive the football.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
He can make those throws that other people can't make under.
Speaker 11 (28:00):
Well, you know, because Phil Simms is a buddy of
yours as well as mine, you know how Phil feels
about that, no doubt that guys have to be able
to drive the football. And he can drive the football,
and as I said, he can sit on his back foot.
See to me, in the NFL, which is different than
college football, there's more and more throws where there's bodies
around you. Well, we call a squeeze pocket, a muddy pocket,
(28:23):
a noisy pocket. You can't just flee out of the pocket.
You have to be able to stand and deliver, and
very often you have to be able to do that
without really being able to step into your throws. And
he can just sit on his back foot and drive
the football. And I think that's a really critical trait.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
And I think right that's a perfect continuation into the
store to Sanders conversation, because I think the pocket has
to be a little bit more perfect for him. You know,
I watched the first five or six games of Sanders
this year.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
I'm going to watch the rest of them. But before
he came.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
Out here, I wanted to do my Travis huntersoft So
I watched every one of Travis Hunter's targets and when I.
Speaker 11 (28:58):
Walk outs a lot of targets. It was about one
hundred and feywy five.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
So I watched all the targets.
Speaker 11 (29:04):
Although we caught a lot of tunnel screens.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Right, That's the one thing I noticed.
Speaker 4 (29:07):
The other thing I noticed on those downfield passes, a
lot of them were not exactly in stride.
Speaker 11 (29:12):
Yeah, well, again, you know how this works. We're all
on social media, so you know how this works. That
if you if you mentioned pros and cons about a player,
or or let's say strengths and weaknesses, all people respond
to are the weaknesses and then they decide that you
hate the guy. So I would say, here would be
my evaluation of Sanders, who, by the way, I watched
(29:33):
for three years. Two summers ago, I watched him at
Jackson State. Last summer I watched them at Colorado, and
this year I did seven or eight games in Colorado.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
So I think he.
Speaker 11 (29:43):
Is in many ways a prototypical pocket place.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
He's a boring pocket passer, right, Neil Sanders kid is
a boring pocket passer.
Speaker 11 (29:49):
It's crazy and with a good arm, not a great arm,
a great I would say that he throws it well.
I would say that he sees the field well. I
think he does throw it well on the move. I
don't think. I think he has great pocket awareness and
great pocket management. You have to be aware of one thing.
Teams do these studies. I'm one person. I can't do
these studies. But I've spoken to GMS quarterbacks that get
(30:12):
sacked a lot in college, whatever the reason. And we
know that the old line of Colorado wasn't great, right,
But quarterbacks that get sacked a lot in college historically
gets sacked a lot in the NFL. Caleb Williams was
sacked eighty two times in his final two years at USC.
He led the NFL this year in sacks. Now, it's
easy to say that, oh, it's a bad old line,
(30:34):
But I gotta tell you, I listened to Tom Brady
who knows a little more about the quarterback position than
I do. And he said that that sacks are they're
basically a function of the quarterback ninety nine percent of
the time. And when you watch tape, that's true. There's
very few jail breaks, you know, are there somewhere a
quarterback has no chance? Yeah, there are some, But when
(30:57):
a quarterback gets sacked a lot in college, you gotta
be really careful. You've got to study every one of
those plays as an individual play. But at the end
of the day, Sanders and there's nothing wrong with this,
by the way, you know, I want to emphasize that
he's basically a ball distributor and an executor of a
well schemed passing game. That's what I think he is.
(31:18):
And can he do that at a high enough level
to be a good NFL quarterback? Absolutely he can't. But
he needs a team. Now, I'm what he needs a team?
Speaker 3 (31:27):
Greg? What bother me most about him?
Speaker 2 (31:28):
And I didn't watch nearly a percentage of his snaps,
as you.
Speaker 11 (31:32):
I probably watched thirty games of his over which is
an infinite number more than I do.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Watching that BYU game from this year right was ugly,
which I did watch ugly.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
Okay, that to me mimiced the kind of speed and
complexities of a defense that he's going to see almost
every week in the National Football League.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
Too many times in that game he looked lost. It
was not good.
Speaker 11 (31:58):
The player that I didn't necessarily think of this myself
when I was watching his tape, but the player that
a number of people who studied him in detail have
told me that they that he reminds them of and
this guy actually throws it better. But just in terms
of style of play, is Geno Smith?
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Right?
Speaker 11 (32:13):
And you know, Smith is a quality NFL quarterback, but
I don't think we'd say Geno Smith is a top
five quarterback in the league. And if you're gonna draft
Shadeer Sanders number two three Giants draft three, yeah, then
you're expecting him to become a top five, top six
quarterback in the league.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
He has to elevate everyone around him with that guy, right.
Speaker 11 (32:33):
And by the way, there's nothing you know, we just
talked spoke about Kirk Cousins. Really good career, you know,
obviously not a Hall of Fame career, but a really
good career, made a lot of money, did soor Sanders
probably falls more into that kind of player.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
No, I think we all agree. How big is the
gap for you? Oh maybe Sanders isn't your second guy
into that next tear of year quarterbacks with the Jackson Duards,
the mill Rose, the Tyler shuks.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
You know that kind of nexttion for quarterbacks.
Speaker 11 (33:01):
Well, it's funny. I had a very interesting week because
I did last week based on people talking to me,
I did Tyler shuck? His tape's really good. His tape's
better than Sanders. Now again that's not a judgment as
to what they will be in the NFL. His tape
is better than Sanders. And I made that comment on
(33:24):
a couple of shows, and of course I got ripped.
You know, you know how that goes. But then a
couple of ga yes, I do. But then a couple
of gms texted me. He texted me and said, you're
a hundred percent right now. And I know some gms
where the age is in a factor, he's he'll be
twenty five. But you know what, if he plays ten
years in the league, there's nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
I like older quarterbacks then more ready to go.
Speaker 11 (33:43):
Now, the injury history that you have to delve into
which I don't. You know, I don't work for a team,
so I don't do that. I'm just watching his tape.
But Tyler Shuck is six' four AND i think he
was six four and seven eighth something like that to twenty.
Five and by the, way size is a. TRAIT i
remember last, Year i'm fortunate enough at the combine to
get on the, field AND i remember standing next To
(34:06):
Drake may and producing myself and he is a big.
Dude and you, know, again you can be successful at
six 's.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
One we know.
Speaker 11 (34:14):
That you know none of. THIS i hope people. Understand
none of these are. Absolutes you, know WHEN i say
that That Tyler shuck's tape was better Than, sanders that
doesn't MEAN i Think shuck's great And sanders. Stinks that's
not WHAT i, mean, Right but his tape was. Better
And i'm very curious to see how the league Sees Tyler.
Shuck he's had kind of a starcross college. Career he
(34:37):
ended up being in college for seven. Years he was
a big time recruit coming out of the state Of,
arizona played At, oregon ended up losing his job To Justin,
herbert who's pretty good and then he went To Texas.
Tech you, know never really could play a full season
due to. Injury this year he played a full. Season
LIKE i, said his tape's really.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
Good All, Right i'm gonna ask you a question now and.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Indulgence dan saw is one of Our giants dot com staff.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Writers, okay he is An Ohio state.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Guy in, fact he is buck guy wild over all
The Ohio state. Prospects Will, howard he says to, me
has been, underrated, underrated and underrated three times over and
should be talked about as at least with the second
crop of quarterbacks in this. Draft, NOW i didn't believe,
him and.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
THEN i watched the playoff games and he looked really.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
Good although he doesn't have the strongest, arm he did
a lot of really nice things in the college football.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
Playoffs, yeah He's i'm gonna assume you've seen.
Speaker 11 (35:34):
More i've done Well. HOWARD i did him last summer
At Kansas, state AND i was really. Intrigued this is for, You,
Dan and THEN i did him this Year, Already he's
very intriguing to. Me he's not a great. THROWER i,
mean he's not a bad. Thrower you. KNOW i don't
like when people say things like he can make every,
(35:56):
throw because if you don't think he's a great, thrower
then he can't make every. Throw you. Know so now,
again like for, instance we spoke earlier About Matthew, stafford
he can't make those. Throws now you can argue, that,
oh depending on a, game maybe you don't have to
make those, throws but there might be some games to,
do and quarterbacks that can't don't see those throws as viable,
(36:17):
throws that's the, thing you, Know Whereas Matthew stafford sees
them as viable throws and he makes them with no.
Problem so so to say he can make every throw
is kind of a. Misnomer but he's a big. Kid
i've actually met. Him he's a big. Kid he's a
great kid, too by the, way he's got good. MOBILITY
(36:37):
i think he's another one of those guys that ultimately
is a is a distributor or an. Executor BUT i
think there's more to him than is being given credit.
Speaker 12 (36:46):
FOR i.
Speaker 11 (36:48):
DON'T i kept going back and forth to be honest
with you as to WHETHER i see him as a
true quality, starter And i'm struggling with, it not struggling
with his. TAPE i think his tape kind of is
what it, is AND i like it more than, some
But I'M i keep. GOING i did speak to a
really good friend of mine who scouts The, midwest And
(37:08):
i've not Seen howard throw. ALIVE i assume he'll throw.
Here and he, said when you stand next to him
and he, throws it doesn't come out exactly the way
you want. It that's what my friend who's a scout.
Said so, Again i'm just that's that's not me seeing,
him that's you. Know BUT i respect my friend who's a.
Scout he's been doing it for, years so that's WHY
i keep going back and. Forth BUT i think he's
(37:30):
an effiicient. PLAYER i think he knows how to. Play
he gives you enough. Mobility there's something. THERE i JUST
i don't, know And i'm being.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Honest, WELL i Think dan still likes you because that'll do.
Speaker 11 (37:43):
It, okay that'll do.
Speaker 5 (37:44):
It i'm being.
Speaker 11 (37:45):
Honest, GREAT i wouldn't jump up on the table for.
Him what's right that? Way?
Speaker 3 (37:49):
Greg this is. Awesome always pleasure to talk to my.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
Lines, right it's a, thread a love.
Speaker 5 (40:30):
AFFAIR i fell in love with The. GIANTS i saw
l t run a. Touchdown, back let me pull The
Detroit lions.
Speaker 12 (40:38):
Passed.
Speaker 14 (40:39):
Down Clil simson's my dad's guy.
Speaker 1 (40:41):
From generation he that was my guy's.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
Generations we are The New York.
Speaker 14 (40:51):
Giants we got some cilantro so on your, owns some
carrots giving back to the community means a, lot just
to keep giving hope that you, know you're just living
(41:12):
in a. Situation the situation doesn't define.
Speaker 2 (41:15):
You SO i got you.
Speaker 12 (41:20):
Nice thank.
Speaker 14 (41:21):
You there's little things like, that just to keep encouraging.
Speaker 6 (41:24):
Guys, okay how are you?
Speaker 3 (41:37):
Nice to meet?
Speaker 7 (41:37):
You for, me it's just a blessing to always be
that impact for somebody. ELSE i always, say try to
be somebody to. Somebody so WHEN i, GO.
Speaker 5 (41:44):
I want my feet in my hands to move just as. Fast.
Right it's been.
Speaker 7 (41:47):
Great getting to learn a lot of getting me a
lot of. Kids it kind of reminds you where you
used to, be and it reminds you of the impact that.
Speaker 5 (41:53):
People have in your.
Speaker 7 (41:54):
Life there you, GO i think we have a tremendous
impact on, them just being able to bring you a
smile on the day and be able to you, know
really interact with him and gets to know.
Speaker 8 (42:02):
Him, hey you, know really getting to step back and
enjoy the.
Speaker 4 (42:07):
Moment, yes you remember the big kickoff live Family Bomb,
gardner colleague of our good Friend Dane.
Speaker 1 (42:18):
Brogly that's right at the, End.
Speaker 13 (42:20):
THICK i make Sure dane doesn't lose his mind IF i,
can so he stays and helps us make all this.
Speaker 4 (42:24):
Money what Is dane like when he's like in like
the middle of trying to finish the beast like the week,
before because he's like the most chill COMED i. EVER
i loved the day Like i've been diving for fifteen.
Years i'm curious to see what that process is.
Speaker 13 (42:39):
Like when we leave. Here, uh you know It's, march,
RIGHT i was joking With march, Madness we're going to
watch basketball and we leave.
Speaker 11 (42:45):
Here, dane he does not Get march.
Speaker 13 (42:47):
Madness he goes home and just shuts everything off and
writes for like literally a. Month LIKE i don't think
he even does media In, march any. Interviews so he
just goes into his BASEMENT i, think and shuts it.
Down but, yeah he's he's the.
Speaker 5 (42:58):
Best he's the.
Speaker 4 (42:58):
Goat, yes but you're you are second to. None years
draft cover just. Fantastic you did a three round mock
said The giants a couple of weeks. AGO i think
you replied On twitter and my daughter doing yeah that was.
Speaker 3 (43:07):
Awesome was the.
Speaker 11 (43:09):
Best, yeah, yes.
Speaker 4 (43:12):
Very very strong opinions on that. Draft so we have dbs.
Today we haven't really focused on them. Yet Travis hunt
is a big. One let me just start real. Basic
if you're starting from, scratch blank SLATE nfl, team where
are you playing him and how are you utilizing him
as a.
Speaker 13 (43:27):
Problem So i'm playing at corner And i'm gonna start
him there and then we're gonna keep my mind open
for everything. ELSE i THINK i have To you're on
the same page half to start him at, CORNER i,
think AND i think because the long, term you, know ceiling,
there it's just it's so.
Speaker 11 (43:37):
High AND i.
Speaker 13 (43:38):
Really do think With, travis if you listen to him
talk and you talk to people that have been around,
him it's it's you, know he's an. Athlete he's a terrific,
athlete of, course but mentally he is just really really.
Sharp AND i do think if you give him five
years and let him just work and be a corner
and learn how to be a, corner not only would
he be one of the, best if not the, best
in the. LEAGUE i actually think in time you could
you could flip flop him and, like, hey week, one
we're playing, corner but in weeks we got a, matchup
(44:00):
we'd like you a. Receiver that's what you're gonna do week.
SIX i think he's that. Gift he reminds me Of
woodson and like every. PART i, mean he's just one
of those like smooth everything.
Speaker 4 (44:09):
Works and the ball skills man like ball.
Speaker 3 (44:13):
Skills without giving up the big race to have those.
Speaker 13 (44:15):
Exactly they'd be the best of THE nfl at, CORNER
i think right, now you, know or in that Conversation
i'm with right.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
Now, now a bit dimunitive in.
Speaker 2 (44:22):
Size, yes he's a little, skinny some people will. Say
and WHEN i saw him this, morning it did bother.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
Me a little.
Speaker 3 (44:29):
Bit he was a little little, skinny. Scrawny use what wired? Really?
Speaker 2 (44:33):
Yeah live perhaps like that more THAN i, thought, yes
he would be WHEN i met him in.
Speaker 3 (44:39):
Person is that something that should concern?
Speaker 13 (44:43):
People SO i think if they want him to be a,
RECEIVER i almost feel like, it you, KNOW i think
he needs to get bigger at, that but he needs
to get bigger. ANYWAY i don't know how much of
a concern it, is because the one THING i do
wonder about, is you, know he's been doing these one
hundred and forty snap you know. GAMES i, mean he's
just runs all. DAY i have to think it's hard
for him it was hard for him to keep way
on At colorado and probably was even skinnier there than
he is right, NOW i. Imagine but that's my curiosity is,
(45:06):
Like kenny hold more weight or was that a product
of you're playing one hundred.
Speaker 3 (45:09):
Fifty STAPs a.
Speaker 13 (45:09):
Game he's working on.
Speaker 9 (45:10):
Weirdness he never gets, tired you, know so we'll find.
Speaker 11 (45:12):
Out, yeah but it is a.
Speaker 3 (45:13):
Concern it was.
Speaker 4 (45:14):
FUNNY i was watching him on tape And i'm, like
why doesn't he look like he's running? Fast and Then i'm,
like wait a, second he's playing one hundred and twenty.
Snaps that's why he's not running full feet on every
completely understandable lot of. That it was just one of
those things why kind of click in your, head, like,
yeah that's. Right how he can't run fast every? Way
this he's he he's going to literally die.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
On the football.
Speaker 4 (45:33):
Field so we also talked To Will johnson today and
Then Benjamin morrison came out last and he joked, that,
YEAH i was at the hospital for like three hours
because of people looking at my hip picturing, Right, yeah
and that's a big deal because he doesn't have that.
Hip he could be a top fifteen and he seems
like a real stand up. KID i missed the first
half of it from talking to. People how nervous are
(45:55):
people about the long term potential impact on, him not
just so this hip, injury but also the one that he.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
Has it's the.
Speaker 13 (46:03):
Multiples AND i think that that's it's really hard with
him because you just said, it like he is such
a great kid and everything else about, him and when
we have seen.
Speaker 3 (46:09):
Him, healthy it's been.
Speaker 13 (46:09):
Terrific SO i think people are really weighing that and
it's been, hard you, Know and that's why he's in
there for three. Hours And i'm sure there'll be, more you,
know conversations about that throughout the rest of the.
Speaker 11 (46:16):
Process but it.
Speaker 13 (46:17):
Is, multiple you, know it's multiple, things and it's the
same kind of. Deal it's like it becomes it becomes an.
ISSUE i, mean you got to get shut down this,
year you, know the whole. Thing so it's just it's
tough because you talk to him and you can see
where it's, like if he was, healthy ready to, go
he would be. Fantastic but, yeah top fifteen, easy you,
know but just not there.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
YET i don't.
Speaker 13 (46:35):
Know that's a tough one for. ME i don't know
how many teams know what to do with. HIM i
feel like the range is pretty wide right now with.
Speaker 2 (46:39):
Him, now we know that this is not a great
draft for corners in terms of, death we understand.
Speaker 1 (46:44):
That.
Speaker 2 (46:45):
Yeah really we commented about those guys when we saw them.
Earlier today they also look rather smaller, guys yeah for the,
position but it does seem that of the crop that's,
available there are more boundary corners than slot, corners which
is a change from recent.
Speaker 3 (46:59):
Years from my.
Speaker 13 (47:00):
Perspective, Great, yeah there's more bigger. Guys there's more we've
Seen Darien.
Speaker 3 (47:04):
PORTER i.
Speaker 13 (47:04):
THINK i feel like we're seeing more of the big
guys come out of recruiting and not be put into
safety that the hybrids in the back. End they come
out of high school and they immediately back in the,
day if you're, big your safety or your, linebacker we're
gonna put bilky. UP i feel like we have seen
After Tarik woolen a few years, ago we've seen more
of the long kids come out and they teach them
how to play corner and they stay at, corner and
so we're are SEEING i feel like more of those,
Guys some of those guys will even tell you they
(47:26):
feel like they can play. Slot you, know Like Darien.
Speaker 1 (47:27):
Porter's got enough quick.
Speaker 3 (47:29):
FEET i doubt he could do, it but you, KNOW
i mean he's really fast.
Speaker 13 (47:31):
Enough that the thing of it has been is they
haven't shied away from letting the real long guys go
out try to play, corner and if it, works it's you,
know it's pretty cool if it.
Speaker 3 (47:38):
Works all, right let's talk About Will.
Speaker 4 (47:40):
Johnson I'M i had a lot of had a lot of. Difficulty,
NO i had a lot of difficulty with this. Tape
everyone always says to me as twenty twenty three tape
was so. GOOD i looked at his twenty twenty three.
Tape there are some flashes on there with balls. Fields
that's really, good. RIGHT i also saw AND i looked
at my notes AND i did my summer, scouting and
THEN i did his twenty twenty four, tape and same
(48:00):
note was in the BULTH a lot of easy catches
in front of, him, right, yep a lot of easy catches.
Speaker 3 (48:05):
In front of.
Speaker 1 (48:05):
Him AND i don't, know is that him worried about
guys running past? Him is that the? Scheme?
Speaker 4 (48:10):
Yeah that that that's dictating. It look With mortdale In New.
York he didn't play a.
Speaker 1 (48:13):
Lot of soft No In New, york he played a
lot of tight. Man why was he playing soft zone From?
Michigan like what's? Going AND i can't get my head
around him as an time.
Speaker 13 (48:22):
PICK i can't do it, now especially with the injury.
Situation and we don't even know how bad he's heard
he missed the whole. YEAR i, mean he's being cagey
about it to a. Degree he's not gonna work out.
Here guys they want to catch you want to work
out their pro day where it's closed to everybody again.
Speaker 1 (48:34):
And he and he might never run a forty eight and.
Speaker 13 (48:36):
He will never run a forty. No and everybody knows
that he's not a big speed. Guy BUT i think with,
will honestly LIKE i think he. FREELANCES i think there
was a lot of that going. ON i think he
he would go off assignment do whatever he's you, know
feels like he can do because you saw this year
when he was, healthy he jumped LIKE i think two
picked sixes and he's done that before in the. Past so,
like he does what he wants to a, degree And
i'm not sure that that's whatever you know WHAT i,
(48:57):
mean he.
Speaker 1 (48:58):
Did he did that coaches will not be he needed
a big.
Speaker 13 (49:01):
Year this year and it didn't. Happen and like when
we started the, season Like dan AND i talked about,
him AND i Think dane had him one or two after,
travising and you, know midbe, year it was, LIKE i
mean this he could be bottom in the first. ROUND
i mean if if the.
Speaker 11 (49:11):
Corners you can.
Speaker 13 (49:13):
Get if the, CORNER i think he gets the twenties
if the, corners if the corners, slide and people are, like,
look this kid hasn't done anything FOR i think a
lot of people wanted him to play in The Ohio
state game and.
Speaker 3 (49:21):
They were really not happy when he.
Speaker 13 (49:23):
Didn't scout wise Like loveland's. Hurt we know that we
saw him today with the But will didn't, play AND
i think a lot of people were, like this is
O Hio, State. Michigan this is the biggest. Thing and,
you're you, know supposedly in your life and you're you,
know so there's questions About. Will he's got a lot to.
ANSWER i think, talented super talented and very, smart like
a really good, kid but it seems like there's a
lot that. Confidence, yeah he's very confident, guy so maybe
he'll prove us. Wrong but there's a lot to prove,
(49:44):
here all.
Speaker 2 (49:44):
RIGHT i got to go to the big yellow friant
in the room because of the headline that came out
last NIGHT a Duel carter has some type of minor
stress fracture in his. Foot apparently the experts are telling,
him don't do the surgery, thing, Right BUT i have
to believe there's some teams that are kind of great
in their teeth AND i know it's not.
Speaker 3 (50:03):
Good what what in the world is this going to
do to his?
Speaker 13 (50:06):
Stock so it's, like right, now obviously everything coming out
of their campus is what you said. THERE i think
he's actually planning to work out as of, now work
out At Pro day and without the. Surgery that's what he,
said which is what he.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
Said SO.
Speaker 13 (50:18):
I don't know how this is all going to. Go
BUT i, mean LIKE i still think the word right
now is most teams are, like we still think he's
it'll be, okay we'll, SEE i, guess but it's, like you,
know he's still a top five. Player the talent is so.
High they're based on the rest of the class. Too
there's just not you know a lot, there, so but
it throws a wrench. IN i don't know how it cans,
because like you, said a big guy with the foot
injury and it we just found out about it, here you.
(50:39):
KNOW i, mean so it's like what if it lingers
anytime you hear a screw has to be put, in
that becomes a little.
Speaker 3 (50:44):
Concerning so not, good not good at. All that's the
kind of injury that could get. Worse it could get.
Speaker 13 (50:48):
Worse it could get worse if he runs on it
in the next couple of.
Speaker 4 (50:51):
Weeks, Yeah i'm gonna go to a guy in The
cowboys division and the guy in The Giant's, Division cowboys
defensive end To Marcus. Lawrence, yeah he's the guy that
has consistently has had foot.
Speaker 1 (50:59):
Injury lead to another times all the, time.
Speaker 3 (51:02):
And you have to learn about.
Speaker 13 (51:03):
That injured players just sort of like are magnets, right
that you get injured once and then it just it
just happens over and over and then you can't get
out your own. Way and that's so WHEN i, yeah
when we heard that today that he was going to
do that without the, SURGERY i was, like, well we'll.
SEE i don't KNOW i don't.
Speaker 5 (51:14):
Want to give.
Speaker 3 (51:15):
It speed is his game.
Speaker 1 (51:17):
Too, yeah it's all first, step that's.
Speaker 13 (51:19):
It the only THING i would say, IS i mean
he just learned about, this, right so maybe, yeah we'll,
see we'll see what happens. There but, yeah not.
Speaker 4 (51:24):
Great So paul Tub by the elephant the, ROOM i
want to talk about the elephant the safety, Position Nick. Emmo,
yeah just bigger than an, elephant not, that just, Gigantic
just want to be clear about.
Speaker 1 (51:34):
That and he seems like a really good.
Speaker 4 (51:36):
Kid dad came here on an academic scholarship From nigeria's
brothers in the. Town his dad's like an, engineer really smart.
Kid but you don't see two hundred and thirty two
pound safeties. Anymore in, fact my my joke all the
time WHEN i look at these linebackers is he's swallen
the Landing collins was when he came.
Speaker 1 (51:51):
To The, giants.
Speaker 4 (51:53):
Like they were all like skinnier than playing The, collins
who was a top safety in that draft.
Speaker 1 (51:56):
Class.
Speaker 4 (51:57):
Right so you look at him, though and it's something.
Else AND i have not done my safety work. YET
i leave them for last because it takes me forever
to watch safety because they're.
Speaker 1 (52:04):
Annoying it's Hard, yep it's very. Annoying so there last for.
Speaker 5 (52:08):
Me.
Speaker 4 (52:09):
Ken is he a guy that you think if The
giants still have their second round pick after pregency and potential. Trades,
yeah is that a guy that you think could get
to the top end of the second Round BECAUSE i
just putting putting a physical freak like that with A Tyler, newban.
Speaker 13 (52:21):
Go oh my, god he'll be, amazing unbelievable safety.
Speaker 3 (52:24):
Comedy it would be.
Speaker 13 (52:25):
Incredible even while he is maybe the best athlete pounds
for pound, here like he will run a four to.
THREE i don't think that that's made he says he's
going TO i actually believe. HIM i think he's done that. Before,
ACTUALLY i think he's been doing. That somebody said the other,
day who's been testing in four three? Fives he's been
a forty two inchvert guy. Already you, know he's sixty
three two twenty. Nine he's got great ball. Skills he
is a mutant.
Speaker 1 (52:43):
LIKE i Mean Bobby.
Speaker 13 (52:45):
Okay, yeah and he's one of the youngest guys. Here,
no he's barely, twenty you, know one of the youngest guys.
Here he was a, huge big play guy at his Health.
Carolina the one thing, though is there are also those
moments on tape where he gets a little. Lost BUT
i don't think he makes it out of FIRST i
don't if he makes other first. ROUND i don't know
IF i feel like you got to go up for him.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
In this class with those, trades there's.
Speaker 13 (53:05):
So many things he Could, yeah exactly in this, class
with all the stuff he could, BRING i feel like
that's a.
Speaker 5 (53:08):
Lot you.
Speaker 2 (53:09):
Know it's funny and talking to a lot of these
safeties earlier and we've said that it's not A greade safety.
Class but yet every GUY i talked, TO i can
play both. SIDES i can play in a do or.
Anything and oh, yeah by the, WAY i can also play.
Speaker 3 (53:22):
Slot, well you, know if.
Speaker 2 (53:24):
You're all that, good then this has got to be
the best position in the.
Speaker 13 (53:28):
Draft this is like your guys all going first, Round, LIKE.
Speaker 3 (53:30):
I, mean, really how many picks do we?
Speaker 13 (53:33):
Have that's my favorite we get that happens with the
defensive lineman now, too it's LIKE i can play one through,
nine zero through. Nine i'm, LIKE i don't think you.
Speaker 3 (53:38):
CAN i don't think anybody can do. That so it's,
like but there is one.
Speaker 2 (53:42):
GUY i want to ask You, za have you a
watch From Notre. Dame, Yes so there seems to be
a bit of a cavern. On people are quite sure
how to grade.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
Him what do you THINK i like?
Speaker 13 (53:50):
HIM I i don't know. Why there is that bit
of A i agree with you that. DOES i see
a wide range on. HIM i would think he's closer
to a Healthy Kevin. Winston maybe you Know i'd like.
HIM i think he's a guy who made a lot
of plays For Notre dame down the. Stretch released smart.
Player you, know you look at Everything Notre dame did
this season to get.
Speaker 3 (54:06):
As far as it.
Speaker 13 (54:07):
Did that was that. Defense it was every and it
was the back end for the most. Part he made
plays on the. BALL i believe he was a. Captain if,
not you, know a guy who was setting the defense for.
Them SO i don't know. Why maybe it's a science.
Thing i'm not. Sure but like you, said a lot
of these guys are a little bit. Small we'll see
how they. Run but there's a lot of smart guys
in this, group Like Johnny, burns a corner who could
maybe even play, safety really. Smart Malakay moore is a
brilliance you know FOOTBALL likeq, guy but it's.
Speaker 3 (54:28):
Like he's limited in what he can.
Speaker 13 (54:30):
Do so there's a lot of that going.
Speaker 4 (54:31):
On GIANTS Nfl combine coverage is presented by The hospital
For Special, surgery the world's number one In, Orthopedics Choose,
Better Move BETTER, hss the official hospital of The.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
GIANTS a right think before we say, GOODBYE i want
to ask.
Speaker 4 (54:41):
YOU i like to ask all the guys that dig
deep here or some of The day, Two day three
guys that just you loved watching and it was so
much fun that if you're a, team all, RIGHT i
can get this.
Speaker 13 (54:51):
Guy right, yeah Or i'm all pumped up some of
THOSE i got a. COUPLE i just wrote about one this.
Week and Like Thomas perry From, middlebury The DIVISION iii
center slash card who is Wor, shrine yes that he
works With Duke manyweather and has. Been duke thinks he's
the strongest player in the draft period and like up
there With Will campbell in terms of work, ethic he's
(55:12):
the hardest worker that he's had and sometime, terrific terrific
kid just like off the charts. Athleticism he watch HIS
d three tape and it looks like a grown adult
just crushing high, school you.
Speaker 3 (55:22):
Know so he's.
Speaker 13 (55:22):
Won Essa pole is a guy From Washington, state also
at The shrine Who essa did not play college or
high school football at. All only he began his football
life wow as a freshman in college and junior college.
Ball has Brother Tony pole ever played At wazoo and
helped him. Out BUT i, mean he's a great. Story
there's a lot of guys like that in this. CLASS
a lot of the athletes who are new to the
game is in a way that that can always surprise
(55:44):
a little.
Speaker 1 (55:45):
Bit but we have we haven't asked anyone, this SO
i want to follow.
Speaker 4 (55:47):
Up is this one of the deeper classes you've seen getting,
into like just draftable?
Speaker 1 (55:51):
Players, yes this is the last year of and all.
Speaker 13 (55:53):
THAT i think that's a great point because it. Is
so that's why this draft is so. Weird at the,
top we're, like but you, know as you, get as
you get you get a, day you get a day
three into four and five and, six and you're, like
there're still good there's still good players. Here so draftable
guys that can help a team, Absolutely AND i think
that is the we're at the. End, finally of the
tail OF, covid there won't be any more twenty six
year olds rolling out, THERE i don't think for too much.
Speaker 2 (56:12):
Longer my final, question and let's Put Dual carter off
the board here because of the. Injury who's the guy
most likely to take a tumble in your?
Speaker 3 (56:21):
Opinion guy most likely to take a?
Speaker 13 (56:23):
Tumble, Well Will johnson might be one right there THAT
i would. SAY i might go with, him actually BECAUSE
i was hopeful to hear him say he was going
to work out here after all of the all, year
right we've been here and you, know and the scouts
were frustrated everything, else and it was just, like, yo
you know he's. Ding it's a oh he doesn't want.
To so he's the one THAT i kind of have
my eyes on. Now AND i, said that's after. NOON
i was like him And Kenneth grant also another one
(56:46):
who's not working.
Speaker 5 (56:47):
Out they're Their michigan.
Speaker 1 (56:48):
Guy Did grant say he's not one working? OUT i
missed he said?
Speaker 13 (56:50):
Yesterday, well apparently he's Reported Chef chefter reported today that
he's got apparently a, hamstring Which i'm, like, okay so
he's got a hamstring, injury which for.
Speaker 3 (56:59):
Five, Right so he skipped The Shrine. Bowl well he
was supposed to play, there that's, right and did not
make people very. Happy people were not happy with.
Speaker 13 (57:07):
That so he's he's probably actually the guy Over WILL
i would say was tumbling Here.
Speaker 1 (57:12):
Sean i'm.
Speaker 4 (57:13):
Astern, yeah he's actually gonna be at the practice that
he might have his helmet with like they had where.
Speaker 1 (57:18):
DO i send my?
Speaker 13 (57:19):
Stuff then he just doesn't even do, it, okay, Whatever
and he played next To Mason, graham you, know.
Speaker 4 (57:24):
And if he gets his stuff, together he might Have,
yeah he is Dexter lawrence vibes when you look at.
Speaker 13 (57:29):
It he's not making not making it up that he
could hit four eight maybe on you, Know i'm sure
he's had ridiculous numbers on the gun, already you, know
with THE gps and. Everything but, yeah it's been a
weird winter for. Him so we'll see about. That he's
really young, too that's.
Speaker 4 (57:41):
Interesting we we've been kind of pulling everybody on this
question before we say.
Speaker 1 (57:44):
Goodbye The giants might be in the mode for a
quarterback at the top of the.
Speaker 4 (57:49):
Draft do you have a big distance between cam warden
should or are they close for. You and then do
you have A day two quarterback that you think could
be the development the guy that you.
Speaker 3 (57:55):
Like, yeah they're.
Speaker 13 (57:56):
CLOSE i Think camus is ahead of, Him, uh not
by a. LOT i like Cam ceiling is. BETTER i
like the improvement track that he's shown his entire, career
from you, know wing te.
Speaker 1 (58:05):
To now a lot of snapstealing Top, yeah.
Speaker 13 (58:07):
Throwing the ball a, lot and a guy that went
Into miami picked it up just like that and took.
Speaker 3 (58:10):
Off we had no problem with.
Speaker 13 (58:11):
IT i Like schadour a lot, too you, KNOW i
THINK i LIKE i look at him and the same
WAY i looked at Boat. NICK'S i think we can you,
know a similar vibe there if you if you help him,
OUT i think he could be good for. You i'm
not sure long, term you. Know but there's also some
bust you, know possibilities with both those guys, Too so
that's why it's a little bit shaky for me on either.
Side but you go into the second, round you, know
(58:32):
those guys are. Interesting Tyler, Shuck Jalen. MILROE i like cal.
McCord i think how McCord's gonna go higer than people
probably think he. DID i think he did really well in, testing,
uh like the mental stuff and everything else like off the.
Field So milroe might be the one guy THAT I
i was, LIKE i really wanted him to go back to.
School but if he runs like a four to.
Speaker 1 (58:50):
Three And jalen hurts his size and it's, like we'll
get the work, in you.
Speaker 2 (58:53):
Know you know what, THOUGH i had a scout tell
me two weeks WHEN i mentioned this To. John they
said to, ME i want to See milroe's measurements at
the copy because they're going to be.
Speaker 3 (59:02):
Disappointed some people are going.
Speaker 11 (59:05):
To say, yeah and they.
Speaker 13 (59:06):
Were but he threw it at The Senior bowl.
Speaker 11 (59:07):
Too, yeah that's.
Speaker 1 (59:08):
Correct, yeah the hand size is the way.
Speaker 3 (59:11):
And his feet a.
Speaker 4 (59:12):
Mess tod got me at the Mill row at The Senior,
ball AND i apologize for.
Speaker 1 (59:16):
Adding he never let it go.
Speaker 4 (59:21):
Exactly he looked like a second baseman with the yips pass.
Right he looked Like Chuck knoblock in nineteen ninety nine
for The New York, yankees and, like Obviously i'm not
a future did you never saw The Phil simms hit.
Turn it was always kind of Like i'm gonna hold
the football here and then kind of try to aim
(59:41):
it And i'm, like, dude you have an, arm.
Speaker 5 (59:43):
Right just throw.
Speaker 1 (59:45):
It you can on a. REP I i didn't know.
Speaker 4 (59:48):
What AND i wonder if that's him worrying about controlling the,
ball torquing heavy with the hand.
Speaker 1 (59:52):
SIZE i don't.
Speaker 3 (59:53):
KNOW i think it's.
Speaker 13 (59:53):
EVERYTHING i think he's a guy that just needs like
he was a guy that started him before he was
maybe even. Ready they had sent him down at family saving.
Them still there just needs a ton of work to
learn how to play, quarterback you. Know and it's, like
that's that's the league right, Now that's that's college. Football
there's a lot of guys like. That but the athleticism
there is is why he's the.
Speaker 5 (01:00:09):
Becoming Leg, yeah right.
Speaker 4 (01:00:11):
Exactly and you an overall big board Chadorns cam around
like fifteen.
Speaker 13 (01:00:16):
Ish, YEAH i would say. BOTH i Think i've been
saying both our top twenty. GUYS i Think cam is
close to. Fifteen you, KNOW i would say there's a
couple of spots under. That but you, KNOW i would
have a real hard time at one.
Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
Or two with either of those.
Speaker 4 (01:00:27):
Guys you know, What i'm taking either one over quart
or a, hundred, yeare especially if you'll feel better about.
Speaker 13 (01:00:32):
It if they're, Gone, yeah, YEAH i think, so especially
IF i, was, like you, Know New york's in a
situation WHERE i Like dable a lot and he hasn't
had a chance to work with a young guy quite
yet there In New. York i'd like to see him
get that. OPPORTUNITY i think they could do some things.
There SO i Think New york could maybe surprise people
with their ability to maybe make this.
Speaker 11 (01:00:49):
Work, okay you, know.
Speaker 13 (01:00:50):
So they got to do, it you. KNOW i think
that's what the situation, is and one of those guys
should be should be. Fine, Nick you're.
Speaker 1 (01:00:55):
Awesome this is a lot of.
Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
Fun lets me in.
Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
Touch i'm also a big you a black hole suner spoon.
Speaker 12 (01:01:00):
Make what do you?
Speaker 5 (01:01:03):
THINK i?
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
Like this one's bed finger in this?
Speaker 1 (01:01:05):
One, okay oh that was your?

Speaker 1 (01:02:14):
Faith all, right we're back here On Big Boo Kickles.
Speaker 4 (01:02:20):
Live to wrap everything up on our third show on
This thursday from THE Nfl combined In, indianapolis brought to
you By, cadillact the official luxury vehicle of The New
York Football. Giants John schmulk pulled A tino with, You.
Paul we've talked about some of these guys over the
course of the. Show we had the defensive backs and
tight ends at the. Podium, yeah we didn't do much
on the tight, end so we should talk about them as.
Well DB's we talked About Will, johnson we talked About
(01:02:41):
Benjamin morrison. ALREADY a couple of the guys that jumped
out to. Me Billy, BOWMAN i thought From, oklahoma who
had a nice senior. BALL i thought he was a good,
talker fun to talk. To and then R J, mickens
Who's Ray mickens', son like a really nice, kid wanting
up play safety Corner nickel that type of. Thing smaller,
guy BUT i kind of enjoyed him talking about his
mindset and stuff like. That over the course of the,
(01:03:02):
DAY i.
Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
Had a couple tight ENDS i wanted to highlight during the.
Segment that's, okay, yeah, ABSOLUTELY Cj dupree tight end out
out OF. Aama the dude looks like he could Be
Dan campbell's. Twin he is cut out of the side
of a. Mountain and you, KNOW i didn't ask him
what his weight or what his uh what his playing
weight was going to.
Speaker 3 (01:03:23):
Be but here's what was.
Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
Interesting former high school quarterback whose brother is a super.
Powerlifter so he, said as they would grow up and
he'd be with his. Brother they had the whole weightkit and.
Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
He was constantly.
Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
Powerlifting is it any wonder that his biceps are thicker
than our?
Speaker 3 (01:03:40):
Necks the dude is. Massive he is a tractor.
Speaker 1 (01:03:44):
Trailer he's a blocking tight end right.
Speaker 3 (01:03:46):
Exactly and and in, fact what.
Speaker 4 (01:03:48):
Are the, things be honest with, You i'd rather pair
Theo johnson with a receiving tight.
Speaker 1 (01:03:52):
End that a blocking tight.
Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
End oh that's, okay, Okay i'm you know he He
he Highlighted friarmouth in particular as a guy who he
really respects a, lot and JUST i can only say this,
guy you looked at him at the podium and you
would be afraid.
Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
To try to take him on at the line of.
Scrimmage Tyler warren very impressive.
Speaker 4 (01:04:12):
Physically, yeah he looks physically just Like Jeremy shaky from
the hair to the body type to the. Size he's
like A Jeremy shocky. Clone that guy is gonna be
a good tight. End he's not going to work, here
which is kind of become a theme with a lot
of these top, players which is. Disappointing BUT i was
impressed by him a kind of. CHANCE i thought the
coast In loveland a little.
Speaker 1 (01:04:33):
Bit his arm.
Speaker 4 (01:04:34):
Isnck mention wasn't a. Sling he's dealing with a shoulder.
Injury so he says he's gonna do stuff at The
Michigan Pro. DAY i believe that WHEN i see, it
given the fact that he was basically immobilized in his.
Arm BUT i didn't realize like he grew up on a.
Farm he's a farm. Kid you, know you don't think
like the like, skinnier like receiving tight.
Speaker 1 (01:04:52):
Ends grew up on a.
Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
Farm now a farm.
Speaker 4 (01:04:54):
Kid so somebody asked him what was your favorite chore
on the farm that you had to do as a,
Kid and he goes.
Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
First he, SAID i wouldn't call it. Favorite none of
them were.
Speaker 4 (01:05:03):
Fun BUT i always enjoyed helping to brand the young,
cattle so you would like hold their legs back and
you would brand the back of the. Cattle and then he,
said mostly because we got to miss like a half day.
Speaker 1 (01:05:15):
Of school to brand new.
Speaker 4 (01:05:17):
Cattle but, like if people worry about his, toughness that
is a kid that grew up on a farm branding.
Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
Cattle you're not gonna have to worry about that kid's.
Speaker 2 (01:05:25):
Toughness you're gonna know WHY i Loved Luke, lache the
tight end out Of.
Speaker 9 (01:05:30):
Iowa.
Speaker 4 (01:05:30):
JOHN i talked to him at The Shrine bowl on
one of My huddle. Podcasts really sweet, kid really really.
Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
Dynamite Jim, lache the former offensive lineman With. Washington as
you guys, know this is his. Son and here's here's
WHAT i loved about.
Speaker 12 (01:05:43):
It.
Speaker 3 (01:05:43):
Right he talked about play hard every time you have to.
Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
Block if you're going to play AT, iowa that's mandatory
and Coach fuenga's.
Speaker 3 (01:05:51):
System but here's WHAT i. Loved he goes.
Speaker 2 (01:05:55):
Seven on seven. Football that's not real. Football and WHEN
i heard, THAT i wanted to just tug the guy
because he's all about power, football smash mouth football and
let's get into it and be a slopper.
Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
Knocker, Yeah i'm all about.
Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
It he's A by the, way Pol i'm all about
a round four tight end for The giants because one
of these guys is gonna drop and they're gonna get
a good.
Speaker 3 (01:06:16):
PLAYER i was impressed by a bunch of other.
Speaker 4 (01:06:19):
Guys Terrence ferguson out Of, oregon who was at The Senior,
bowl did a really nice.
Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
Job i'd have a chance to talk to him, there,
okay but really.
Speaker 4 (01:06:25):
Impressed he, GOES i THINK i have the same type
of wiggle at the top of my Routers Travis.
Speaker 1 (01:06:29):
Kelsey, no that's not a bad, comparison very good.
Speaker 3 (01:06:32):
Comparitive i'll give. You i'll give you a different.
Speaker 4 (01:06:34):
Ship by the, way our Guy, charles who's doing a
gat job one of the graphics and the beer, roll
and THERE i got to bring up this guy From
gunner Helm is Tight end out Of. Texas really impressive,
kid really, smart good, talk, tall kind of has That
mike Get sicky type of.
Speaker 3 (01:06:46):
Bill, okay when you look at, him really.
Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
Really good, guy and HE'S i got really.
Speaker 4 (01:06:50):
Details, look they want to be a vertical tight end
to make up For Jatavian sanders. Departure SO i kind
of worked that part of, it but didn't give me
a chance to block. IT i won the Block moore
and New more to media routes The, wiggle AND i
watched him really really good on tape and he GOT.
Dv he's, like, YEAH i think my body type is
very similar to Great calcatara from The Philadelphia. Eagles i'm,
like all, right you're a student of the.
Speaker 1 (01:07:10):
Game like if you're Pulling tara out of there and
you know what you're, doing that means you know what you're.
Doing SO i was kind of impressed by.
Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
Him i'll give You Jackson, hawes Tight end out Of Georgia.
Speaker 5 (01:07:18):
Tech.
Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
Okay somebody went up to him and, said you, know
we watched you a, lot and we've been told by
people that they describe you as being salty on the.
Field he, goes, well WHENEVER i get out, There i'm
looking to punish people who said. That Jackson, hall oh,
yeah he's From Georgia, state he, says he he. He
when he first got, there he credited the tight end
(01:07:40):
coach because he, SAID i was very passive in. Blocking he,
Said now what they taught me WAS i want to
stamp it on the other guy's. CHIN i, mean this
guy's all about like beating people up on the line of.
Speaker 3 (01:07:53):
Scrimmage and then the other.
Speaker 2 (01:07:54):
Thing when he was asked about what do you think
your best game, was he, goes, uh, well go back
and look at my tape Against Florida. STATE i THINK
i flattened the eight or nine different guys on different.
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
Plates this is a tight, end not.
Speaker 4 (01:08:08):
Alignment two other guys at tennan AND i want to
mention and then we'll wrap things.
Speaker 1 (01:08:11):
Up Harold fannin out Of Bowling.
Speaker 4 (01:08:13):
GREEN i thought he was fun to talk, to much
wider THAN i thought he would.
Speaker 1 (01:08:17):
Be he's only twenty years old, too and he's so.
Speaker 4 (01:08:19):
Good after the, catch he, said, LOOK i JUST i
like to be, physical SO i think despite the fact
he's gonna be only probably two hundred and thirty five.
Pounds he's a physical player and wants to be. PHYSICAL
i like the way he talked about. It and a versatile.
Guy so he was asked who his favorite quarterback is
to watch in the nflredy a.
Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
Headset, no maybe had thirty, guesses you would have get.
Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
IT Whoa Jameis?
Speaker 1 (01:08:38):
Winston oh my good? Personality? Wow and he did not have.
Speaker 4 (01:08:43):
That jamis type of bubbly personality. Too BUT i JUST
i thought that was a funny. Answer and Then Aronde
Gadsdon junior basically looks like his. Dad like he's a true. Tweener,
yeah like he looks like a wide. Receiver he was
actually built in the shoulders a little bit more THAN i,
thought but he is. THIN i think he's a guy
that could be a late riser in this. Process time
is going to be important for.
Speaker 5 (01:09:03):
Him.
Speaker 4 (01:09:03):
CORRECT i don't know how fast he's gonna, be but
he has good game speed and he gets open.
Speaker 1 (01:09:07):
All the, time and he's good.
Speaker 4 (01:09:08):
Hands he's gonna be much more That Evan ingram STYLE
f move. Receiver he's not an in LINE i, agree
like a guy Like helm And fan AND i think
maybe they could do it a little. Bit But gadsden
is much more of your like pure outside.
Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
Guys so what's so interesting year is look at all
the guys.
Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
Arentioning there's so many of.
Speaker 3 (01:09:24):
Them it was an impressive tight end.
Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
Group and we knew coming in right and defensive line
running back in tight end.
Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
Right so it's and The.
Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
Giants you, know they've GOT Theo, johnson they've Got Daniel bellinger.
Speaker 4 (01:09:36):
To be frank with, You tim And Tracy junior for that.
Matter Well i'm talking about the okay, Third, yeah who's
the third tight? End who's the third tight? End because
they got two guys. Already, well and if they bring
back a man who who's a blocker and, Bellies but
see they don't have they don't have like the f
move tight end in my. Opinion and that's why That's
and there's enough of those guys, here like you Get
Gunner helman around, four sign me, up, Dude i'm hook him.
Speaker 3 (01:09:59):
More And CHARLES i saw.
Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
You i'm still, thinking you know, what you can get
a bruiser to be in line because Because, Bellinger bellinger
at times has been inconsistent with his blocking to Be.
FRANK i know he would like to do better and
to get at a higher. Level But i'd have no
problem if they brought in somebody Like leche or one
of these other fellows who can punish.
Speaker 1 (01:10:19):
People And johnson both as two way tight. Ends that's their.
Strength they're not receiving tight.
Speaker 2 (01:10:23):
Ends you know WHAT i, mean, Right but What i'm
saying is Manhartsm manharts.
Speaker 5 (01:10:28):
Back you.
Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
Could you.
Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
Could if you want to get somebody, younger you.
Speaker 1 (01:10:34):
