Speaker 1 (00:02):
Draft is now officially open.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
This is Draft Season presented by Moody's, a proud partner
of the New York Football Giants. Decode, Risk, Unlock Opportunity.
Learn more at moodys dot com. Hello everybody, it is
our final draft season before the twenty twenty five NFL Draft.
I am John Schmilk. This is Tony Pauline. We heat
from Sports KEDA. Of course we are recording this and
so we set our times here in case any news
(00:31):
breaks at three point fifteen on Tuesday afternoon. It'll post
on Wednesday on all of the giants normal platforms as
well as the Giants YouTube channel, Giants dot com, Slash podcast,
the Giants app. So if any news happens between this
and win a post and is not recorded, that's why Tony,
your final mock.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Draft is going up Wednesday night.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
So what we're doing today, we're going to go back
and forth on all of these picks. My guess is
that we're gonna be able to come to a pretty
good consensus on a lot of them. On another one will
have debates on and this will serve as the final
draft season. Mack, but Tony is going to join us
on our live show on WFN on Wednesday night in
the eight o'clock hour between eight and nine pm, and
(01:11):
by then his final MAK will be over, so we'll
get Tony's latest intel on that show. If you want
to get to the up to the second Tony Pauline
knowledge and facts.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Going into the twenty twenty five NFL draft. Tony, how
are you man? Hope you're doing okay?
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Yeah, a little exhausting. I mean, it's I'll be happy
when it finally gets here. Trying to figure out what's
real and what is it. You hear it everything and
anything this past couple of days, or at least I have,
and then you've got to try and slim it down
and go with the best sources.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
How do you sort through factor fiction based.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
On past history?
Speaker 3 (01:46):
You know, I had people will call me up and
say this is gonna happen, and I just know it's
outrageous and there's no chance of it's happening. And then
I look at people that I've spoken to and that
have been very right on the money in.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
The past, and usually you're not getting I mean, I
don't want to.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
I'm not trying to bust your sources up, but my
sense from talking to people that do this like you,
a lot of times you're not gonna have a team
tell you what they're going to do, but somebody else
might have insight into another team's gonna do, and then
they'll kind of pass that on to Is that kind
of how this works a lot of the time.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Sometimes, I mean the teams may let information out very
late in the process, but this point in time, you know,
more than forty eight hours before the first round begins.
It's it's very unusual, you know that their draft, they
let their draft plans out. You know, as we'll get
into it, you know, there were some things I know
about certain people in the room or in the front
(02:39):
office that they like. It doesn't mean that it's gonna
be the final decision.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Perfect, all right, So let's get to it here, Tony.
We'll go through the entire first round.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Then at the end they'll get you an idea for
the Giant fans that watch this what the Giants might
do at a pick number thirty four.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
So we'll start at the Tennessee Titans. Mike Borgonzi.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
I think he had a pressure on Wednesday, on Tuesday
Raither that I'm not trading the pick, and I think
we can pretty much etch just one in the stone
that it's going to be cam Ward out of Miami,
and it's.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Been I mean it's been that way for a while.
I mean, you know, it's a combine. I was reporting
at Tennessee. Like them, they dangled the pick out there,
as you would expect them to do, but you know
it's a brand new regime. They need a quarterback. You're
starting fresh. Cammore is the best quarterback in this draft.
He's had a terrific season in twenty twenty four, really
(03:26):
elevated his draft stock. Still need some work. This pick
checks off a lot of boxes.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
One hundred percent agreat Cleveland Browns. I've been told from
a buddy mine that covers the Browns. You can write
it down in pen Travis Hunter at number two.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Again makes sense. They're not going to take a quarterback.
They need immediate impact from whatever player they draft in
the early rounds.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Hunter.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
I mean, what will be interesting is to see how
they use them. You know he's made statements are going
to be used both ways or I'm not playing is
you're going to be used primarily as a wide receiver,
which I have always seen him as.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
And that's the rounds apparently see him as too, right,
They said they see him as a wide out, right.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Well, it's kind of ironic because a lot of people
said all along he was going to be a cornerback,
and I just thought there was too much risk putting
him at cornerback. And then maybe they sprinkle him on
the field of dime packages.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
All right, pick number through to the New York Giants, Tony.
This seems to be one of the pivot points.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Of this draft. What have you been hearing about what
the Giants might do at three?
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Not a quarterback. I think it's gonna be ab dual Carter.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Obviously, there's some things medically that dual Carter they want
to check off on. He's a guy that's going to
give an immediate impact to the team on the field
in Week one. You know, as I've said time and
time again, it's a quarterback crazy league now. But twenty
twenty five years ago, everybody wanted who was selecting at
the top of the draft, wanted the impact defensive player.
(04:47):
And that's what a dual Carter absolutely is.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Is anyone telling you quarterback for the Giants at three,
Tony or is that kind of off the board at
this point completely.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Some people have said it to me, but the way
it's been presented and the reasoning makes no sense at all.
They have that has been thrown out there, but you know,
when I dive into it further and ask some in
depth questions, it just makes no sense.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
So now is your and we'll get to more of
the details.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
As at the thirty four do you sense the Giants
might be willing to pick a quarterback later in this draft?
Do you think they're out on quarterback completely?
Speaker 4 (05:23):
No?
Speaker 3 (05:24):
I think that they will look quarterback day two and less.
You know, in the second round, there's just a such
a higher rated player at a position of need that
they can't bypass.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
I do think that they'll look quarterback in the second round.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Okay, and we'll get more into that when we get
to the end of this first round map. Knowing the
Patriots at number four, I'm sure they would have liked
to get either Travis Hunter Abdual quarter Tony, but the
bottom line is that they need pieces to help Drake
May their quarterback, whether it's an offensive tackle or a
wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
What are you hearing they do here at number four?
I would think Will.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Campbell, right, I mean, yes, absolutely, they would love Travis Hunter.
I'm very unlikely he's going to be there unless they
make it straight up to get him. I mean, you
say Will Campbell, I mean that makes sense because he's
the purest left tackle in this draft of some people
like armand Membo better as a prospect. I've been reporting
the past couple of days they could throw a curveball.
(06:16):
There is a feeling out there they could throw a
curveball and take Jalen Walker. And you gotta look at
who the Hey coaches. Mike Rabel. I don't think that's
off the table, but I think when all is said
and done, from what I've heard just a couple hours
before where we posted we taped the show, it looks
like Will Campbell Jalen Walker.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
That would be interesting twist there. Ticking the defensive player,
all right, Jaguars at number five, Tony. We've talked about
an offensive lineman here, we talked about a defensive lineman here.
Hack back in the day, we talked about a defensive
back here. Before you know, the Michigan corner kind of
got pushed down. Will Johnson got pushed down. Boards a
little bit the thing I'm here in recently, and it's
(06:55):
I've heard it from way too many people to think
this is smoke that this is going to be Ashton
Genty's the spot at number five.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
You know, you said that to me yesterday, and I
did a little bit of investigating and people people have
said to me that many in the in the Jaguars
UH front office believe that Genty is the missing piece
that an offense that's debatable. I would go with an
with one of the linemen, whether it be Mason Graham
or Armond Membo. But everything since you told me that
(07:24):
it looks like it's gonna be Genty, seems it's gonna
be trending that way. And you know that's what team
teams are talking about potentially trading up ahead of Jacksonville
to get Genty.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Wow, And that would be the Patriots, I would assuming
getting out of four right figure and they can get
that offensive lineman a little bit later potentially.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
I mean, you know, there's reports that the Giants and
the UH and the Cleveland Browns are fielding trade offers,
and we'll talk about that for a second. You know, please,
you're sitting there at two and three. You know, unless
there is a must have player, you're you've got to go,
you know, through the process and see, you know, what
you can get for that pick. How far down would
(08:05):
you move to still get a player that you want
and what you can get in return for that selection?
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Now, you probably wouldn't be able to get the usual
gigantic hall though, right because teams are not trading up
for a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
You shouldn't.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
I mean, there's some talk that San Francisco wants to
move up to get one of the edge rushers. So
if they you know, they want to get in front
of Carolina, or they want to, you know, for mckill williams.
So they want to make a big move up to
get Jalen Walker. I mean, and they have eleven picks,
and they don't have a lot of room on their
roster for eleven players. Although they did, they did lose
(08:40):
a bunch of players and free players and free agency.
They made some surprising cuts. But you never know, I mean,
some teams are just so stuck on one player they're
willing to overpay to move up.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
I guess.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
I guess I'll put this to a basic way. If
the Giants decide all right, we'll move out of three.
We actually had a phone call on Big We'll kick
off live about this on Tuesday. So I'll pose the
question that the caller posts us, and this was his theory.
Do you think the Giants, if they slide from three
to eleven with the Niners, could get the Niners first
round pick next year in that type of trade or.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
No, uh, for eight slots.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
I thought it was a little rich myself, to be honest.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
I mean, I mean the move to move the move
to move up and get Trey Lance, I believe was
what into the middle of the first round. Then they
got the following I think they do. Think that's a
bit much. But may you know, the Giants may not
want that. They may want to you know, a bunch
of Day two selections.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Right, that's true, and this is a really good draft
on day two, So I think exactly possible. No, I'm
with you, and I think that can help them fill
out the roster and make it a lot easier if
they want to move back into the first round for
a quarterback, that have extra capital for that do or
maybe they would just then pick the quarterback at eleven
if they moved down to eleven, so they can give
the Giants a lot of different options if that's something
that they would consider. All right, Las Vegas Raiders at
pick number six, Tony uh, where do you?
Speaker 1 (09:57):
What are you hearing about? What they might do at
pick No. Six?
Speaker 2 (10:00):
They need a wide receiver, they could use offensive lineman,
they could use a corner. They could have used the
running back as well with genty, A lot of options here.
I think the Raiders have a lot of work to
do on their roster. What do you think, Pete Carroll,
Tom Brady, spy Tech and all those guys that do
there in Las Vegas?
Speaker 3 (10:17):
You know, the offensive lineman makes sense, especially with spy
Tech there. As I wrote last week at at sports
Skeeter when I heard Membo was in the conversation for
this selection, spy Tech has had a lot of success
when he was with Tampa Bay with Tristan Wirfs. You
look at that offensive line it's primary, and Tampa Bay
it's primarily been first and second rounders. I think that
(10:39):
Membo is definitely in the conversation here, as would be
gent if he's available.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
I've already tell them Banks is a player that the
Raiders might be big fans of.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna throw a curve ball here,
and I'm gonna say that they take Mason Graham, Okay,
because yeah, they need a pass rush, but they also
need help on the defensive line, and I think Mason
Graham can kind of do thinks. Granted he's not an
edge rusher, but I think Mason Graham on the inside
helps the pass rush for that team.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
And look, you can have a real dominant unit, right
if you have Mason Crosby healthy, you have Christian Wilkins healthy,
and then you have they have the who's the little
guy on the outside that they just resigned this year.
They have another good defensive end, a veteran that came back,
Malcolm Kutz, that's right from Buffalo. Yeah, so you have
those four guys on that defensive front that could be
(11:26):
real strength of that team if they go Mason Graham.
And I think he's probably the next best player on
the board, So that makes sense, all right, Mason Graham
to the Raiders at six, Tony New York Jets at
number seven, and this leaves.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
The window open for armand Membo to be the.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Twin tackle protectors with Olu fashion for whomever ends up
becoming the jets long term quarterback.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Answer.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Yeah, I'm told that the love for Tyler Warren is
real for the Jets. But in past days they've been
doing a lot of work on Arma Membo, a lot
of work. They need a right tackle you mentioned for Shadow,
I mean you got to protect justin fields. That offensive
line has really been a mess. Although if you add Membo,
(12:10):
it's another younger piece with Titman, with Olivia Tucker and
hopefully for Giano picks his game up. So I think Membo,
who has got tremendous upside, is the pick here. There
are concerns about his maturity, not that he is he
acts like a child, but that he's just a younger
(12:33):
guy and he's gonna need some time to develop. That's understandable,
but his upside is incredible and you could be getting
just an absolute home run pick at right tackle with Membo.
I love his playing style. May take some adjustment, but
he's a good player now who I think has got
incredible potential. So I think Membo here for the Jets.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Yeah, and look, I think you can get a tight
end later in the draft.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Right, there's such a good tight end class, Tony, you
get a tight end on day two, you're not going
to get an offensive day two though. That's gonna be
anything near what Arma Membo is. So I'm with you.
I think that makes a lot of sense. Membo to
the Jets at seven. All right, let's recap here. First
seven picks. Cam Ward to the Titans, Travis Hunter to
the Browns, Abduel Carter to the Giants, a lot of chalk,
Will Campbell to the Patriots, Ashton Genty to the Jaguars,
(13:17):
Mason Graham to the Raiders, armand Membo to the Jets
at number seven.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Carolina Panthers at number eight.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Tony, this is one of those wildcard picks to me,
because I think they have a lot of needs. They
could use another weapon for Bryce Young. I think they
desperately need defensive front help rushing the passer on defense,
and they could use a corner I for one, here
would focus on the defensive front. I just don't know
which guy to pick. This is where it gets really
dicey from team to team. Which is the next edge
(13:44):
or defensive lineman off the board.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
Well, my opinion's Jalen Walker, and I know that they
like Michael Williams and Michel Williams from Georgia. They like
him a lot, but I think Jalen Walker is so
much higher rating. Evidently he's done a great job with
his interviews. I think the versatility hilly of Walker to
be used up with the line up the field or
in reverse in space and it plays in coverage. Doesn't
(14:10):
have the great growth potential at six foot one. You know,
there were some concerns, you know, how much heavier is,
how much more weight can he get? How much more
bulk and strength can he add? But he's definitely the
much higher rated player, and if he's there, I think
they take him over Williams.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
All right, I'm with you. Jalen Walker to the Panthers
at number eight.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
I think Michael Williams is also an interesting name there
to keep an eye on in terms of defensive front
As I look at some of these other guys that
might be available, I think those would probably be the
next group. I'm a big Derek Carmon fan. I don't
think other people are going to be as high on
him as I am. I've heard Tony with him, and
we could talk about this when we pick him. My
(14:49):
guests are there late medical concerns with him?
Speaker 1 (14:51):
I've heard whispered around.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
I was told yesterday that there's a lot of medical
issues and if it weren't for the medical issues, he
would be a locked top twelve pick. So there are
some concerns about the Harmon's and I guess it's it's
a lot of little things over the course.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Of time interesting, so not one major thing. I'm with you.
I think I don't know how the teams.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
I'm not as high on him, but I guess Walter
Nolan can start being in the conversation here too as
a defensive tackle pick. All right, Saints at number nine, Tony,
I would think they would be considering quarterback here, which
should or still on the board, But everything that I'm
hearing is that they're not. So what do you hearing
the Saints might do where they're always in the search
for some pass rushers as well, and if you go
(15:33):
by what the type of players they've drafted before, this
smells like in Michael Williams destination to me. But you
tell me, yeah, I'd be shocked if they take a
quarterback here. I mean, there's talk about them potentially trading
for Kirk cousins. People say, well, Atlanta won't.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Trade within in the division, but if New Orleans is
willing to pick up the lion's share of that twenty
seven million dollars, Falcons would probably ship them off to
a place like New Orleans. We've never even heard of
the finn to the statement. As far as Derek Carr
shoulders concern for twenty twenty five, you know you mentioned
pass rushers. They seem to always go on the on
(16:09):
the lines of scrimmage. Offensive line still a mess, even
though they've used so many picks on the offensive line,
even defensive line.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
I'm gonna throw a current ball here.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
I'm gonna say, Somenna be Tyler Warren, the tight end
out of Penn State. There's a lot of love for
him for picks seven with the Jets, nine with the Saints,
and ten with the Bears. They wanted Rock Bowers last
year they lost down on him. So I think the Saints,
who you know, need help at tight end, looked towards
Tyler Warren.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Any consideration of Kelvin Banks here Tony Ryan Ramchick just
announced his retirement they could use up on the offensive
front of tackle. Was that a consideration for you here,
he'd be the next tackle lot more likely than not.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
Right, you know it is, but you know, you look
at their offensive line right now, right, they went first
round last year with u Vega. They went first round
in twenty twenty, which Trevor Penning. They went first round
in twenty twenty. So it looks like every even year
it's when they go with the they take an offensive
(17:10):
lineman in the first round. It's a matter of, you know,
you just gotta you have to deal the cards that
you're dealt with. You continually use early draft capital on
offensive linemen, and you don't hit on him, you eventually
create holes everywhere else, which is what's happening. You look
at the tight end force to Moreau. They did sign
Juwan Johnson and resign him in free agency, but I
(17:32):
think it needs a major upgrade that position.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
All right.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Now you go to the Chicago Bears, Tony, I think
this is another up if Genty's there, I think this
could be a pick of Genty if he's on the board.
I think both of us at this point will be
shocked if he was still on the board when the
Bear selected number ten. So I think this has to
be either an offensive tackle or a defensive lineman.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
It's just a question of which guy it's going to be.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Right, Yeah, I've told I've been told that they're looking
for that offensive guard offensive tackle com you know, God,
that they may be able to start at guard and kick.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Out to tackle.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
That sounds like Kelvin Banks, right.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
Kelvin Banks.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
I think the uh, the sneaky pick here, of the
surprise pick here would be Josh Connery from what I'm hearing,
But for the purposes of ar mock draft, I'm gonna
go with Kelvin Banks.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
I think that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Also, you're hearing a lot of love around the lead
for Connory, maybe a little bit earlier than what other
people think.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
I'm told ten to twenty five and several people told
me that the Bears really like him. They had a
great he had a great visit there. It came away
very impressed. Does it mean they're gonna take him at ten? Well,
it means that he's in the conversation at ten, and
I think he.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Should be Tony. I think he's a walk in. I
know he's got issues. I think he's going to be
a starting offensive tackle in this league for a very
long time with his feet, So I'm with you on that.
We talked about the forty nine ers, Tony. They could
use an offensive tackle, they could use an edge rusher,
they could use a defensive tackle.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
It's a trench draft. Where do you think they go here?
At pick number eleven?
Speaker 3 (18:59):
You know there's been talk about Walter Nolan going to
the selection. I mean, they basically gave away their two
starting defensive tackles. But I think if Mike Williams is
there and available to him, I think it's a tough
player to pass up on. You look at his size,
you look at his ability, you look at his upside potential.
I mean, Williams is just starting to hit the hit
(19:21):
his stride as a football player, and he's got tremendous upset,
as does Walter Nolan. But Nolan's got a few more
question marks.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
Okay, we'll go Michael Williams into the Niners.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
I think that's a home run take, and I think
those would would be the two guys they would be
selecting between. All Right, Dallas Cowboys number twelve here, Tony.
Talking to people down in Dallas that I keep in
touch with, This feels like a wide receiver pick. It's
almost like a wide receiver or bust. The question is
it Matthew Golden or is it Teteroan McMillan.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
You know, go back to the Senior Bowl when I
reported that the Cowboys were going to look receiver with
their first pick because they desperately need a receiver that's
come to fruition. I personally he liked Ted McMillan, but
I think it's going to be Matthew Golden because they
want a speed guy. Golden showed at the Combine with
the four two nine. He is a speed guy that
can stretch the field, ran great routes at his pro day.
(20:13):
He's got it. He's got a terrific game with a
large amount of upside. So I think he compliments with
the Cowboys that already have on the on the roster receiver.
I like Ted McMillan, but I think it's gonna be Golden.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
Okay, I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
I would pick Ted McGill in there too if I
was Dallas, But you know, I think Golden he reminds
me of like I could can't just seem having like
a Jordan Addison type of impact. You put him across
from a really good wide receiver like Justin Jefferson. And
he's that same type of player.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
A little bit faster than Jordan Addison, which is what
the Cowboys want more of a vertical threat.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Yeah, both both good, really good route runners. Though.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
All right, let's go to the Dolphins at thirteen. Here,
Tony Jalen Ramsey's on the trade block. There's a good
chance by the time this even aris he could get traded.
Maybe it's draft Knight for a mid to round pick.
Who knows.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
Do they have to pick a corner here?
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Yes, But I think with the news about Will Johnson
and from what I'm hearing with the injuries, I would
be surprised if it was Will Johnson.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
I had, well, what are you hearing about that?
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Well, I'm hearing there's a bunch I hear there's there's
knee there's knee issues. There's a bunch of different issues,
which is gonna push him down into the second half
of Round one. Because of that, I thought all along
this pick had to be Will Johnson. Based on what
I'm hearing, I think it's gonna be a defensive tackle.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
It will be.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
Would it be Walter Nolan? Would it be Derek Harmon,
I'm gonna go with Walter Nolan. Harmon's got the injuries,
Nolan has got tremendous upside when he's on his game.
He's shown himself to be a playmaker that can rush
the passer, uh rush the quarterback, make plays behind the
line of scrimmage, and disrupt the action, as does Harmon.
(21:49):
But I like I like Nolan's upside and his growth
potential little better.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Any thought that Johnny barn there or Jday Baron part
of me?
Speaker 3 (22:00):
In my opinion, it would be a knee pick because
while I like Barren, there are a lot of players,
especially at defensive tackle, that are higher rated, not only
am my board, but from people I've talked to around
the league.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Okay, let's go to pick number fourteen in the Indideapolis
coach Tony Ty Warren's off the board has been a
popular pick to the culture. At fourteen, Coaston Loveland are
still there. They could also use a corner, they could
use a guard, They can use an edge player. What
are you think of for the Colts here in terms
of best guys on the board, Calvin Banks is gone.
(22:31):
I mean, I think this is a little early for
Tyler Booker, but I think, you know, as a mauling
downhill run game, I think he actually fits in that
scheme pretty well. With a little early For me, I
would think about Colston lovel In this spot.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
What do you think they're thinking?
Speaker 3 (22:43):
You know, I thought all along this could also be
a safety, because they do need a safety. We want
an offensive lineman. The offensive lineman are off the board
literally just today, I'm told that the love for the
tight end position is real with the Indianapolis Coults. So
I'm gonna go with Colston Lovelin. They wanted to try
up for Brock Bowers a year ago, and when you
look at the tight ends that are going in the
(23:05):
first round this year, only two of them. Colston Loveland
is more brock Bowers than Tyler Warren with his ability
to get down the field. You just have to be
comfortable with that injury. So we're gonna go Colston Loveland here.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
I gotta tell you, man, whoever wins that Colt's court
starting quarterback job Tony. They have Jonathan Taylor, they have Pittman,
Josh Downs, Alec Pierce, Adaai Mitchell.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
Then you throw on Colston lovel and that is one
hell of a young weapon offensive group that's gonna touch
the ball man. That is a really good group.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
You just have to protect him, and you just have
to hope that the Chris Ballad quarterback jinks, you know, ends,
because Baller has done a real good job at most
of the positions. He just can't get the quarterback position straight.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Yeah, it's been a struggle, all right.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Let's go to the Falcons at fifteen, who are still
looking for pass rushers the keV needs elsewhere.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
I gotta imagine it's got to be a guy up
front on defense here, Tony.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
I mean the Falcons could potentially trade down from this
spot from what I'm hearing, because they only have a
limited number of selections.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
Trade down.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
This is the area where for a lot of teams
there are no longer any more true first rounders. I'm told,
like the Buffalo Bills only have twelve players with first
round grades on their board. So this is the area
where you might start to see some trades. This is
also the area we're gonna we're gonna start to see
(24:33):
that second tier of pass rushers come off the board.
I'm gonna stay with what I've heard and I'm gonna
stay with being stubborn, and I'm gonna go with James
Pierce of Tennessee, who, from what I heard after post
draft meetings, has moved ahead of Michael Green on a
number of boards.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Really, that's interesting, all right, you gonna stick to your
guns with James Pierce at fifteen to the Falcons. I
would pick Mike Green there. Again, I don't know the
off field stuff with him. That's something that we obviously don't.
You know, we've heard what the reports are, but we're not,
you know, detailed into those cases. But Pierce the fifteenth
to the Falcons, and he thought to Shimur Stewart there,
Tony or no.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
It's still too early.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
I mean, we've talked about Shimoar Stewart all along one
and a half sacks last year, four and a half
sacks throughout his college career, but an amazing athlete. I've
mentioned a couple of times people have compared with to
Vernon Golfston, the former New York Jets first round bust.
There are some teams that project him as a top
fifteen pick. I think when all said and done, he's
(25:33):
probably gonna go later in a round one all.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Right, Arizona Carlos at sixteen Here, Tony, this could be
another back to back edge situation.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Could be or it could be a defensive tackle. I mean,
do they taking Michael Green here? I think here, You're
probably probably gonna see where Derek Harmon ends up. That's
where he goes. A playmaker, a guy who can play
on the three man line. He's got the size, he's
got the athleticism. Could be an edgy rusher, but from
what I'm here, it's also could also be an interior
(26:03):
defensive lineman like it was last year.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Yeah, I should have just said pass rusher.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Positions really doesn't matter, right, They just need guys up
front that can get after the quarterbacks, something they sorely
missed last year. All Right, Cincinnati Bengals at seventeen, Tony.
We'll get to them in just a second or first
or reminder that Draft season is presented by Moody's, a
proud partner of the New York Giants, uniting the brightest
minds to turn today's risk into tomorrow's opportunities.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
Learn more at Moody's dot com.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
All Right, Bengals are at the halfway point, Tony pick
number seventeen.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Look, I mean, they just need defense, Tony.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
They lost scoring thirty points like almost like three or
four times last year.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
They can score. I know they could use.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Another offensive lineman, but you got to just pick the
best defensive player here, don't you.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
You would think so.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
I mean, but they would they go with a Kenneth Grant,
would they take a Michael Green? I mean, they've told
Trey Henderson to, you know, search out a trade, and
at the very worst, you probably not going to have
Trey Henderson after the twenty twenty five season.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
So I'm gonna go with Michael Green here.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
And the Bengals, by the way, I have been known
to take chances on guys with some off the field things.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
You go back to Burton last year just as an example.
So something to keep an eye on moving forward.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
I like that picked all right Seattle Seahawks at eighteen, Tony,
they could use some help on the offensive line. They
trade away DK Metcalf receiver, maybe a tight end.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
Yeah, I'm told that they really like gray'sabel of North
Dakota State College tackle who projects on the inside. Some
people think guard, some people think he will eventually develop
into a center. Whether they take him at eighteen or
whether they move try and move down a little bit
further and take them. I think that, from what I've heard,
that's going to be their guy. I have Josh Connolly
(27:50):
rated slightly higher than Gray's Abel, but from what I've heard,
Seattle likes grays Abel.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
Yeah, so do I am with you on that? All right?
Speaker 2 (27:58):
The Bucks and number nineteen Tony, they can use some
pass rush too.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
They can use some.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
Pass rush, but they can also use the safety. So
the question is is it nick Emmawari or is it
Malachai Starks. I'm gonna go with Starks, even though I
have mna Wari rated much higher, because I think he's
much more Todd Bowles player. Fits the system. You can
line him up over the slot receiver, you can. He's
more of a true center fielder. Edge rusher is a possibility.
(28:23):
But again, you know, we talked about the Saints and
how they've expended so much draft capital on offensive lineman.
It's been kind of the same thing with the Bucks
and they really haven't been able to hit. They did
sign the Hassan Reddick in the off season, and I
think Hassan Reddick's got a chip on his shoulder. He's
got something to prove. So I think with this pick,
I'm gonna go Malachai Starks, all.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Right, and then we have the Broncos at twenty.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
Here, Tony, this is this smells like running back all
day to me with Omar and Hampton.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
What are you hearing?
Speaker 3 (28:49):
Yeah, I mean it could be o'mari and Hampton, but
I'm gonna go with Ted McMillan. Now, people say, well,
they need a guy to stretch the field, and it
would rather have Matthew gold But Matthew Golden's off the board.
It's gonna be an offensive skill player. It could be
on Marion Hampton. But I also think getting another target
for bone Knicks, especially in a draft. As you know
(29:11):
we talked about just a little while ago Is is
so rich at running back. You can pass on Hampton
and get another running back second, third, fourth round that
can be a good player for you. I think getting
a real good target, another target in there, another set
of hands for Boone Knicks is important. And really, McMillan sports,
I'm concerned is major value.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
At this point.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Any thought here to McMillan and Sunton, I agree, is
great value. Being a bit duplicative with both guys being
on a big body outside receivers.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Absolutely is that's why they want more of a speed guy.
That's why they would they relish of Matthew Golden falling down,
and you're absolutely right. But remember, you know, Sutton's got
what I believe is one year left on his contract.
I reported on that. You know there is not turmoil.
They would like to extend them. You know, you don't
know what's gonna happen with Cam's after the season.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
All right, let's go to pick number twenty one to
the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tone everyone just assumes they're picking a
quarterback here.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
I don't know. Steelers run the organization a particular way.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
If they don't believe the quarterback is good enough, I
don't think they're gonna force to pick. But Shdor Sanders
is still there. They can also go for a defensive tackle.
Cam Heward's getting a little bit older. They lost Najie Harris.
They gonna pick a running back here. What are your
thoughts on the Steelers could.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
Be a Marion Hampton, could be Kenneth Grant, but I
think it's gonna be Shador Sanders. As a reporter at
Sports Skeeter. Literally the past week. I've been told that
Mike Commlin is in favor of Shadoor Sanders. I've been
told that, you know, Deon Sanders would go easier on
Mike Tomlin when Shadoor Sanders hits bumps in the road
compared to other coaches. I've also been told that they
(30:47):
are very happy, at least Mike Tomlin is very happy
or at least okay moving into the season with the
Mason Rudolph. So you start Mason Rudolph, you have Shador
Sanders shit behind him. No no reason to start Shdoor
Sanders from week one week one, which would be a
mistake in my opinion. I think this is where Shadoor
Sanders finally comes off the board.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
All right, that's twenty one two quarterbacks out the board down,
cam Warden, shud Or Sanders any thought to a team
trying and well, let me ask you this an he
thought to the Steelers moving back here, Tony, they don't
have a second round pick to try to pick a
back to your draft capitol. Let me start there.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
I mean, if the right offer is there, I'm sure
they would move back. I'm sure they would also be
happy with Jackson Dart later on. But again from what
I'm told, Tomlin would like Shadoor Sanders. You know, I
guess it's a roll of the dice. How far back
you can move and still get Door Sanders. Assuming that
none of those teams at the top of round two
(31:45):
make a move up to get the quarterback.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Well, that was my second question.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
How likely do you think that would be that a
team like the Browns, the Saints, the Giants could try
to move ahead of the Steelers at twenty or nineteen
to pick a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
The Raiders as well. I mean, you know, the Raiders
need a quarterback for the future. I guess it would
all depend on the asking price. Again, you know, it's
kind of interesting. I don't think the asking price would
be that high. Go back to what I said before.
There are teams that only have twelve, thirteen, fourteen players
with first round grades. So at this point in the draft,
(32:20):
when you're in the twenties, you're basically drafting players with
second round grades at the end of round one. So
the asking price may not be all that high for
a team you know that wants to move down. You
talked about Pittsburgh. We'll talk about the team selecting after
Pittsburgh to get a for to move down so a
(32:41):
team can move back up and get you doors Sanders.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
All right, then we have the Los Angeles Chargers at
twenty two Tony. They could use help on the defensive
line for sure. They could use a weapon on offense
to help Justin Herbert and Lad McConkie.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
Where do you think they go?
Speaker 3 (32:58):
You know I had heard that they could they consider
Marion Hampton at this point because they only signed Najay
Harris to a one year deal. I know they'd love
to have Colston Lovelin because you know, they need a
tight end edge rusher would be a consideration here. They
do need a receiver, so I think right here this
(33:18):
is an excellent range for a Mecca Abuka. Do you
know that the Packers like him? I think the Packers
would take him there at twenty three. But I think
right now, the way it stands, do they take on
Marion Hampton for the future with Naja Harris on a
one year deal? I think they take Coulston Lovelan, but
he's off the board. They need receivers. I think Abuka
(33:40):
is the pick here.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
All right, let's go to Packers at twenty three, Tony
you mentioned, I can see them picking a receiver. We
don't know if Marshaun Lattimore is going to be there
that much longer.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
I'm not Marshall.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Latimore, Joyar Alexander will be there much longer part than me.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Kenny Clark's getting a little bit older.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
I can see them picking a big nose tackle, defensive
tackle type, or an edge To be totally honest with you,
Rashaun Gary did not have the best year last year
coming off injury. So where are you going with the
Packers here, aside from just picking the best player available.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
Yeah, I think they would like a Mecha Buka. I
think the Packers, I'm told the Packers are going to
try and move down. So this is another point in
the draft where a team you know, could potentially move
down at this point in time. Right here, I'm gonna
go with John A. Barron, the cornerback. I think they
would like the receiver. I think they prefer to move
down with all his fails, I think they go with
(34:31):
the cornerback. Kenneth Grant. Is he a good fit for
that system? I don't know. I mean, there's no other
edge rushers. Would they take as a roku at this
point time. I know most teams I spoke with have
second round grades on as a ROKU, so I think
this is a little bit rich. I guess Shamar Stewart
would have to be a consideration here, but I think
John de Baron fits a need an He's safer than
(34:54):
most of those players I mentioned.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
All right, let's go to the next selection. That is
a Minnesota Vikings twenty four and this could be a
prime trade down target here right Tony only are four
picks in the draft. They have a lot of needs edge,
corner safety on defense. I think this could be a
prime trade down. Can or the Vikings can find a
dance partner.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
I mean the question is is a team trading up
with Green Bay at twenty three or are they gonna
trade up with Minnesota or is there an opportunity for
both of those teams to trade down? Completely agree with you.
I wrote about it last week. Atlanta considering trading down,
Minnesota looking at trade down. If they don't trade down,
they're gonna need a cornerback. Maxwell Harston is flying up
(35:36):
draft boards. Just about everyone I spoke to has a
first round grade on them. So if they stay put,
I think it's Maxwell Harston and.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
You thought the m and wari here as a safety
where they also have a need.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
It's gotta be a consideration. But I think cornerback is
a little bit more pressing. And you know, like the
New Orleans Saints with offensive linemen, the Vikings are even
the Packers point to a certain extent at receiver, the
Vikings always seem to be looking for a cornerback.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
All right, let's go to the Houston Texas at twenty five, Tony.
They could use an offensive lineman, but they could also
use a receiver. Josh Connellys throw on the board. I'm
not sure how you pass on him here.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
Yeah, that's my pick. I mean, that's been been he's
been mocked. I've had a mock to uh the Texans
the past, the three or four bocks that I've done.
If he's there, I'd be shocked if they pass on him.
If a book is there, that's also a possibility. But
I think Connory, especially with some of the offseason moves,
makes the most sense.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
All right, let's go to Los Angeles Rams at twenty six. Here, Tony,
I think some people and I don't think that a
it's a it's.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
A bad idea.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
I think they can go a quarterback, but I think
they're trying to win with their window with Matthew Stafford.
I think they love one of the big tight ends here.
I think Mason Taylor could be a sneaky pick here
at twenty six, the way people talking about him moving
up the boards. They could also use a corner They
don't like to pick corners. They could also use a linebacker.
They don't like the pig linebackers. Where do you think
they're here go with twenty six?
Speaker 4 (37:01):
You know, I.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Thought potentially Jahadd Campbell at this pick. But I'm hearing
a lot of bad medical news on Jahad Taylor, specifically
with his shoulders, which may interfere with his season in
twenty twenty five as a rookie. So you know, looking
at the Rams tight end, linebacker, cornerback, tough call right here,
(37:23):
very tough call right here.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
I'm gonna go, you know, hold on, So why don't
we talk about it? Any tight end move the needle
for you in this spot?
Speaker 3 (37:32):
No, I can't see Arroya or Mason Taylor being selected
round one. I mean it is the Rams and you
never know. And the funny thing with the Rams is
for years they discarded the draft. Now they're back in
the draft game and they've done a terrific, terrific job
of it. But still at this point in time, the
third tight end off of the board.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
Is a reach.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
Okay, how about offensive line? Do you think this could
be a Donovan Jackson landing spot here?
Speaker 3 (38:00):
Donovan Jackson or maybe Tyler Booker. I mean, Booker is
a guy who's big and strong. I have Bookers rated
slightly higher than Donovan Jackson. I do think that there's
a possibility. When I look at the my RAMS needs
on my RAMS board, after corner, tight end, linebacker, it
is offensive line. So I do think that Tyler Booker's
(38:22):
gotta be a consideration here, all right.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
If he's consider then who's the big Well.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
The other consideration would be, you know, would they take
Shannon Ravel Chevron Ravel here? Because of the upside? The
pick for me would be Tyler Booker at the spot.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
Now, I think that's a good pick. I think it
makes sense.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Not a very sexy pick for the Rams, but I
think I think that certainly makes a lot of sense
with with with what they're doing there. All right, Baltimore
Ravens at twenty seven, Tony, this is one of the
old All right, let's see which really good player didn't
get picked yet. That's on the board for the Ravens
to select. And my highest rated player left. When I
take a look at my board, did Derek Harmon get yet?
Speaker 4 (39:00):
Yeah? He did? He did had to go much earlier.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
I mean, Josh Simmons would probably be the next highest guy.
I could also see them taking to Jahad Campbell on defense.
What do you think the Ravens are thinking here?
Speaker 3 (39:13):
Well, I mean, you got Emmina Warri who's available. They
could they could use another safety, pair him with Kyle Hamilton.
They can use an edge wresher for and I'm told
that they like the kid from UCLA, the linebacker from
U say, Carson Sweessinger, and maybe get their linebacker in
round two. You know, Shamar Stewart just screams Baltimore Ravens
(39:37):
for me. I mean the athleticism, They're able to develop
those guys the size. So I'm gonna go with Shamar
Stewart here.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
Awesome sounds good. All right, let's go to Detroit Lions
at twenty eight.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
I agree. I think Edges my number one need for them.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
I think they need one and he kind of you know,
they drafted Jason Alway a few years ago, same deal.
I had no sacks but had a lot of physical ability,
So I think it would be sticking with how they pick.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
I'm with you, all right. Detroit Lions a twenty eight Tony.
Speaker 2 (40:02):
I can see them as a sneaky trade down candidate too,
to pick up some more picks a little bit later
in the draft. I got Edge and then Nickel, maybe,
depending if they don't want to use Brian Banches more
of a traditional safety. What do you think the Lions
do here at twenty eight. I can see them going
guard too, having lost Kevin Zeitler. Or maybe this could
be a Donovan Jackson landing place exactly.
Speaker 4 (40:23):
Where it is.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
I don't have Jackson as a first round prospect, but
there aren't too many first round prospects, you know, still
on the board. But again, Donovan Jackson played tackle the
last half of the season at Ohouse State. Did a
good job, but he's not gonna be a tackle on Sunday.
I think Donovan Jackson did a great job or made
a great decision after twenty twenty three, which was a
(40:45):
subpart year for him coming back for another season, and
he's really elevated his draft stock. So I think here
he makes a lot of sense for the Alliance.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
Okay, I'm with you, command there's a twenty nine. I
can see this as another team Tony that could use
a trade down. They traded some of their draft cappitoal
in the offseason. They acquired Deebo Samuel a couple other
players as well, so I could see this is a
potential trade down. And I think the Commanders still have
a lot of needs, to be honest with you. They
could use help at edge, they could use help with safety,
they could use help it inside linebacker, or they're getting older.
(41:16):
Zach Ertz is long in the two, they could use
a tight end. I think a running back. Austin Ecklers
are number two. How much longer is he going to
be around? And then I believe their primary Brian robinsons
heading towards the end of his rookie deal as well,
So I think this is interesting he picked with the Commanders.
I can see a trade down, but I think they
probably got to pick a defensive player.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
No, well, I mean, who would the defensive player be
all the top ed edge rushers are off the board,
as I.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
As, Iraku would be the guy that I would bring,
and I know.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
You likes who I guess he would be in consideration here,
But again I'm gonna go back. Not too many teams
I've spoken with have a first round grade on him.
You know a lot of players. You mentioned cornerback Shavan Ravel.
I mean that's a consideration when you think he's going
to be back on the field. I'm gonna go with
all Marion Hampton because I think you know, you just improve.
(42:07):
You want Jayden Daniels to improve. You get them a
stronger running game as well as a running back that
can catch the ball out of the backfield.
Speaker 1 (42:14):
And that's Hampton, Okay, I like it all right.
Speaker 4 (42:20):
Thinks I stunned you there, No, not at all.
Speaker 2 (42:23):
I mentioned running back as a possibility next to Brian Robinson's,
so I have no problem with that. I just think
that I think their defense was what kind of finished
them last year.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
In the end.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
They couldn't get a stop when they needed it. So
they have a nice set of weapons around Jaden Daniels.
All if they you're at the Mario Hampton, that's for sure.
All right, Let's go to pick number thirty to the
Buffalo Bills, Tony. I can see them being a sneaky
trade down spot too, and I think they need to
keep looking at the defensive side.
Speaker 1 (42:45):
Of the ball as well.
Speaker 3 (42:47):
Yeah, again, they traded down last year if you remember
at the very end, Carson Swessinger is a consideration here.
Johad Campbell, although those injuries are concerned for me, they
have a very leaky interior defensive line. So I'm gonna
go Kenneth Grant. Kenneth Grant here to fix the problems
(43:08):
on the defensive line.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
Yeah, they're very small up the middle, Tony, so I
could easily see Kenneth Grant being the big plug or
a defensive tackle. You put him next to Ed Oliver
or you got a nice little defensive front there. I
think that makes sense.
Speaker 1 (43:20):
All right? Kansas?
Speaker 2 (43:20):
Did he Chiefs to pick number thirty one? Offensive tackle
is a continuing need. I think they could use an
edge rusher. They could use a corner later on in
the draft, maybe a Travis Kelsey replacement down the road.
What do you see for the Chiefs here at thirty one?
Speaker 3 (43:34):
I think they're gonna roll the dice with Josh Simmons.
I mean, he's got a great amount of upside. I
reported on sports skied to there's a concern with Josh
Simmons because he had a potella injury. He may not
be able to play until the second half of the
twenty twenty five season. They did sign Jalen Moore in
(43:55):
free agency, so you know he'll compete there. But as
we saw, you know, the Super Bowl last year, their
offensive line is a mess. They traded Joe to Thny.
You gotta add more pieces there. You got to add
more talent. You gotta protect Patrick Mahomes and I don't
know if he's going to do that the first six
or seven weeks of the season. But Josh Simmons, with
(44:17):
his upside as a pure left tackle, is their type
of pick. And a year, you know, halfway through the
twenty twenty five season or even twenty twenty six, you
can be a starter at left tackle.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
Yeah, I'm with you. I think that's a good pick
for the Chiefs. They need to tackle desperately, and he
has the ability to be a really, really good one.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
All right.
Speaker 2 (44:37):
Philadelphia Eagles final pick at thirty two Tony. They do
you let Chauncey Gardner Johnson go this year? Could this
be a Nick Emnwarie spot? I for one think they're
going to try to beef up their defensive front with
a pass rusher, which is surprisingly without if you're not
focusing on it. They've lost Flesher Cox in that spot.
They lost to Son Reddick in that spot. They've lost
(44:57):
Josh Sweat in that spot. They lost Milton Williams in
that spot. I could see them trying to bolster their
defensive front here.
Speaker 3 (45:03):
Which is why I have him taken Nick Scalurton, and
I'm told that teams like Scourton more than people on
the outside. I'm getting very early second round grats on Scoton.
This is the last pick of the first round, so
in essence, you can say it's an early second round pick.
I know there's been some concern about Scourton's weight fluctuations,
(45:24):
but as I report on sports Skida, Texas, A and
M had him playing too heavy at two hundred and
eighty five pounds. His playing weight is more to sixty five.
So he fits that scheme that the Eagles like in
the up the field pass rush.
Speaker 2 (45:38):
All right, now, let's get to the Giants at pick
number thirty four, Tony, and they'll be impacted what the
Browns do with thirty three. And we also know that
at the top of the second round, with teams having
a night to sleep on their boards, a lot of
teams get very excited about a certain player or two
that might be left and they try to trade up
into the front of that second round to get the
player that they really want that still maybe sitting out,
(45:59):
as you know, some teams might still have a first
round grade left on their board at this point. How
do you think this plays out for the Giants at
thirty three and then their selection at thirty four in
terms of either picking a quarterback, moving around in the draft,
or maybe doing something else altogether.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
I think they'd like a quarterback. I don't know if
Chavon Ravel is going to be available to them possibility,
you know, like you said, do the Browns take Jackson Dart?
You know, for some reason, I know that they've liked
Tyler Shuck through most of this process. There is some
people out there who believe Tyler Shuck could eventually be
(46:34):
could ultimately I should say, be the second quarterback selected
ahead of Shador Sanders. I think the appeal for Shuck
is a lot of teams feel that after cam Ward,
he is the most NFL ready quarterback. He's a guy
that's gonna be on the field sooner being able to play.
I'm gonna go with the information I have and I'm
(46:57):
gonna say it's gonna be Tyler Shuck. If it were me,
I probably probably would lean more towards h a Chavon Revel,
maybe an interior offensive lineman or an offensive lineman like
Savanea or maybe Ursery somebody like that. But from what
I hear, and maybe even a tray Amos at this
point though he does have some injury concerns. But from
(47:19):
what I hear or what I've been, what people have
been feeding for me, what I've seen, I think a
very good chance that they pick here.
Speaker 4 (47:26):
Would bet Tyler shock.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
Really for the Giants at thirty four? That's interesting? What
do you think?
Speaker 4 (47:33):
I guess you don't agree with it.
Speaker 1 (47:34):
No.
Speaker 2 (47:35):
I love Tyler Shuk. I think he's awesome. I was
just surprised that's where you went. All right, let me
attack that in two different ways. What I'm surprised, Corner
is something you mentioned given they sign Paulson a Debo
to that big contract. You still hear the Giants are
after a Day two corner potentially?
Speaker 4 (47:49):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (47:50):
Interesting?
Speaker 2 (47:50):
Okay, where have you heard teams have Jaylen Milroe in
this mix?
Speaker 3 (47:57):
I mean, I would be surprised if Jaylen Milroe is
a first round pick. Somebody did say to me, listen,
if Anthony Richardson could be the fourth selection of the draft,
then Jalen Milroe should easily be a first round pick.
But you know, he did not play like a first
round or the second half of the year, or the
Senior Bowl or the combine. I think in my mock draft,
(48:19):
my last mock draft, I had Milrod going to the
Raiders with the thirty seventh selection, So he's if he's
not a late first round pick, I think he's gonna
be off the board early in round two.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
Okay, I think that makes a lot of sense. What
do you think the Browns do with thirty three? Who's
their second quarterback? If they don't get who's their third quarterback?
If they don't get cam Ward and they don't get
Shid or Sanders.
Speaker 3 (48:43):
I think it'll be Jackson Dart. I think he's a
good fit for that system, and I think with signing
Joe Flacco, it gives them some leeway in the sense
that if you draft Jackson Dart excuse me, at the
top of round two, you know you're not gonna need
to play for a walk because Flacco has been approven
winner in Cleveland and he can learn behind a veteran
(49:06):
like Flacoh. I think it's a perfect situation for him.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
What's the chance either the Giants or the Browns or
a team like the Saints or the Jets. You mentioned
them too, right of them trading back into the first
round to leap frog the Browns to get that third quarterback.
Speaker 3 (49:22):
Yeah, I mentioned the Raiders is one of those teams.
Speaker 1 (49:26):
Raider, so I would be.
Speaker 3 (49:27):
Surprised because you know, Cleveland and the Giants need players.
They need players who can you know, play in twenty
twenty five. Granted I don't know that those players are
Jackson Darter or Tyler Shuck. I think it sets them
up for the future. So I think a lot of
those teams, you know, maybe the Raiders would be the
(49:48):
most open to it, but teams at the top round two,
I don't know that they want to be expending draft
capital you know they get a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (49:55):
Are teams going to be hesitant to move round two
and round three picks this year, Tony, because it's such
a strong draft in that area of the picks.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
You always you always get a good amount of movement
in those areas. Remember it's also gonna be a strong
Day three. So if you can move down and get
some extra selections in the fourth round. I know it
doesn't sound sexy, doesn't sound attractive, but you're gonna have
good players through Day three of the draft. It's all
based on what the package that they're offered and what
(50:27):
players are available. They're in love with a player that's
available on the board, I don't think they would move down.
Speaker 2 (50:33):
That's interesting, all right? Who are the best players you
have left on your board here, Tony? After our thirty
two picks, and I'll listen them very quickly. To the
fans of they're like, wait a second, why don't you
mention that guy cam Ward first, Travis Hunter, second, Abdul
Carter third, Will Campbell, fourth, gent D fifth Graham, sixth, Membo,
Jalen Walker, Tyler, Warren, Kelvin Banks, Michael Williams, Matthew Golden,
and Walter and Owen Coaston Loveland, James Pierce, Derek Carmon,
(50:57):
Mike Green, Gray's Abel, Malachi Starks, Tan Shore, Sander's A
Mecca Agbuka, Jaddey Baron, Maxwell Harriston, Josh Connelly, Tyler Booker,
Shamar Stewart, Donovan Jackson, Amri and Hanton, Kenneth Grant, Josh Simmons,
and Nick Corton.
Speaker 1 (51:12):
Those are the thirty two. Who are your best guys
left on your board, Tony.
Speaker 3 (51:15):
It would be Nick Emminawari, who I think could end
up in the first round, no doubt about it. I mean,
the big safety from South Carolina. I had him going
to the Colts for the longest time, but I'm told
the Colts very likely to go tight end, so I
don't know where he fits afterwards. Like I said, I
think Malachi Starks is a much better fit in Todd
(51:35):
Bowles Tampa Bay defense. Jahad Campbell, who I had going
through the first round through most of my mock drafts.
He could still end up as a late first round pick,
but as I mentioned, red flags because the injuries, specifically
shoulder injuries which could complicate his rookie season. And then
(51:56):
Luther Burden. I mean, I really want to put Luther
Burden in the first round, but I don't know where
he would fit late in the first round. Obviously, a
guy that's that was like a lot more in as
Jim Nagy would say, Twitter draft world than he was
in NFL war rooms.
Speaker 2 (52:13):
All Right, My top guys i've left are Jehan Campbell
to your point, Tony Carson Swesssinger is a guy that
I have a little bit lower, and a lot of
NFL teams like him. Jude Baron did not get selected
in our draft, right, No, he did.
Speaker 1 (52:27):
Oh he did get picked.
Speaker 4 (52:28):
Yeah, we had him, We had him.
Speaker 2 (52:31):
Yeah, twenty three to the packers, you're right, all right,
so you cross him off. Golden gun At Buka, Gon
Connolly gone, Will Johnson gone, Donovan Jackson, grays abel O
gone dead. Donovan Azaraku would be a guy that I
have high in my list.
Speaker 4 (52:45):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (52:45):
And then Nick Evin Wari actually is my only guy
left with like a first second round combo grade. So
actually it's funny and considering you made most of these Pickstony,
I know I had some input. Of my top thirty
two players on the board, the only ones that did
not get selected were Nick emin Wari Donovan as Aaku
(53:09):
and Jehi Campbell. Those are the three guys that kind
of fell outside that ended up getting that ended up
uh not getting picked. So yeah, I mean, I think
we came up with a pretty good list here in
terms of where these guys might go. Where are you
kind of expecting maybe your biggest surprises as you look
at the Thursday night were you used to have the
most questions where even you're not sure what's gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (53:31):
Four and five, I mean I've heard from multiple people
the Patriots could pull a surprise and not go with
an offensive tackle, which would shock me. And then five
with Jacksonville. I mean, we thought it was gonna be
Mason Graham, you know, we thought it could be Armande Membo.
But there's been so much chatter about Ashton Genty lately.
(53:52):
They're either throwing up the smoke screen of the century
or they're gonna pull off a surprise and take Ashton
Genty With that selection.
Speaker 2 (54:01):
That could be trying to get teams to trade up too,
right Tony, you know the team wants them, trying to
get a team to move up a couple of spots
to grab him.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
And you pick up an extra third round pick for
your trouble.
Speaker 3 (54:09):
Right, could be, But I mean, would it be Jacksonville
at trades down or would be the Patriots that trade
down if to get in front of Jacksonville to get
to get gent Yeah, it could.
Speaker 1 (54:19):
Be either one.
Speaker 2 (54:19):
To be honest with you, I'm with you, So I
think that'll be. I think that'll be very very interesting.
All right, Tony, it just gonna be your final thoughts here.
We'll recording this little more than forty eight hours before
the start of the draft.
Speaker 1 (54:30):
It'll post about thirty six hours before the draft.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
You tell me, give me your final thoughts heading into
today one of the twenty twenty five draft.
Speaker 1 (54:38):
As we've gone on this long journey together, I.
Speaker 3 (54:41):
Think it's going to be interesting to see which players
that we all expected to be first round picks fall out.
I mean, we mentioned Johan Campbell, and I mentioned why
because of the injuries. We talked about Luther Burden. I
think the cults where they selected fourteen, I'm hearing a
lot of love for for a tight end. So it
looks like Colston Louvelin. You know, I think that the
(55:02):
three big stories as more as I'm concerned when it
comes to players, is Shador Sanders, Tyler Warren and Shamar Stewart?
Where do they end up? Are they going to be overdrafted?
I mean, very good chance Tyler Warren ends up as
a top ten pick. To me, he's not a top
ten prospect. You know, Chador Sanders is basically the Shador
(55:22):
Sanders story has sucked all the oxygen out of the
room the past month. But when you look at him,
you know he's a nice prospect, he's not a great prospect.
And Shamar Stewart who potentially could be a great prospect,
but he's just not a real good football player.
Speaker 4 (55:38):
How early is he going to go in the draft?
Speaker 2 (55:40):
Tony, good stuff, Tell the folks what they expect. Add
on sports Keita in the days leading up to the draft.
Speaker 3 (55:45):
Yeah, a lot of breaking news, a lot of stories there.
Try and get one up every day. I'm sure we'll
have one Thursday before first round, Friday before day two
and two, if not three round draft. You said Wednesday
probably gonna be Thursday morning.
Speaker 1 (56:04):
Make sure you go check that out on sports sky
to with Tony Polline.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
