Speaker 1 (00:00):

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Welcome to the Players Lounge, brought to you by Sony,
the official headphones of the New York Giants.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
And today I am honored.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
To have our running by I say hour because obviously
I'm still a giant in still families. This is us,
our running back for the New York Football Giants, Tyrone
Tracy Junior.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Welcome man. How you feeling all as well? Ye?
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Blessed solid day of practice today and lovely day of
practice today.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Okay, okay, that's what's uping.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Now you are from Indiana, Now, just tell me the
only thing that resonates with me. Again, I'm a little older, right,
so the only thing that resonates with me in Indiana
is Bobby Knight, Right, is Magic Johnson?
Speaker 1 (00:39):
I heard going at it. I ain't that. Oh, I
wasn't born for that. That's just what resonates with me.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
And then I think Freddie Gibbs, like, that's the That's
the three things that resonate with me.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
So tell me what's Indiana like?
Speaker 2 (00:49):
And what was your childhood like and the difference between
Indiana life and New York City.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Yeah, I mean growing up Indiana, Anneapolis, Indiana.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
I mean it was.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
It was lovely, you know what I'm saying for me personally,
just because like you know, I woke up and you know,
got to do the things that I did. My parents
sacrificed a lot, you know for me and my brothers
to go out and really just you know play ball
or play with our friends, you know, just have a
good time without having to look over our backs, you know.
So we moved from the west side Annapolis to the
south side, you know, just so a little bit safer,
(01:18):
a little bit better for me and my brothers to
grow up, better lifestyle, you know, better education, and my
parents gave up a lot, you know for us to
do the things that we did, and it was it
was lovely.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
I ain't gonna you know, just being able to you know,
hang out with friends and not have to worry about,
you know, going outside or being home. You know at
a certain time, you know, you can just you know
live life. And I know some of my other friends
from from the west side, like they could you know,
do something some of those things. So it was it
was a blessing, you know, in disguise you know, some
of the things that we had to go through, but
you know, looking back at it, you know, I'm grateful
(01:52):
for all the things that my parents did. And it's
any other way different, you know, than than New York.
You know, out here, you know, you surrounded by all
you know, types of life. You know just walking around
you you know, you got different type of foods everywhere.
You know, you can be here for five years and
eat different spots every day.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
You can't do that Indiana. You can't do that Indiana.
Just the truth. But yeah, I mean I said it was.
It was lovely.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
I always wrap three one seven, you know what I'm
saying anywhere I go. So yeah, I mean it's always Naptown.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
What's one thing people don't know about Indiana? One thing
people fact about Indiana.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
They have the best donuts.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Donuts?
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah all right, hold on, yeah see because guy, I'm
a Jersey guy first, and we do donuts, Okay, dunk
and don't by the way, official sponsor.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
I think the New York Giants still our sponsor. We like.
So why are donuts different in Indiana?
Speaker 3 (02:45):
I don't know how they explain. You gotta go west
side Annapolis and Hallville. You got it's called Long's Bakery.
You feel me. It's one of those spots that if
you don't got cash, you can't come in, like one
of yeah, you feel it's one of them, Like you
gotta have ash going there, and the best donuts like yeast,
you know, YaST. Yeast is kind of like glazed, but
(03:06):
like it's yeast donuts, apple sauce, blueberry, like literally any
type of don't even won't like the best. That sounds
if you was from Indiana, you would, you would understand,
but you have to go there. They like, I'll be
telling every coach I talked to that go there for
the coma stop at Long's Bakery down and not downtown
but west sid Annapolis, you know, Hallville. It's a little sketch.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
But by the way, all the best food spots it
is usually in a place.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Sketch, little sketch, you know what I'm saying, just where
it's located and stuff.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
But it's good, I promise, Okay. Staying on the food topic,
what's your favorite restaurants? I mean, you've been in New
York New Jersey area for a little minute now, Like
what's your favorite type of food and if you have
any spots, like what's your vibes out here since you've been.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
So I stay out in the Clifton area. So, like
there's a place over there called Tommy's. It's it's really good.
It's like a bar, you know what I'm saying, bar
food type, but like kind of like elevated, you know,
so you can go. And they got a little outside
you know, where you can sit. They got a little
bar area they got. Really I'm telling you, its nice.
It's pretty give a shout out to Tommy's. I wasn't
(04:07):
really a big like state guy until I got to
the league and I started eating with you know, kt
theay Hodges. They've been you know, taking me out. They'll
put you on yeah you feel me. So like they
were like, bro, let's you know, come here with us.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
You know.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
I slid with them, and that's when I kind of like, okay,
I got it. My taste buzz. Gotta get a little
you know, a little different out here. So River Palm,
I've been there a couple of times. It's a nice
peer pier one fifteen. Me and my lady go down there.
It's like this nice view. It's really a little bit
of an anything that's good, good vibes, you know, good energy.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
That's what you like, like nice spots too on the water.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Yeah? Oh yeah, yeah, I'm a I'm a I'm a
visual guy.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
I'm a visual guy. So if I can sit down,
eat some good food with the nice you know scenior.
Oh man, I'm allful.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
That explains your success on the football field because you're
a visual guy. You're seeing holes, you're running back, you
can see okay, switching gears just a little bit. You're
communications major in college. Is that like in your future?
Do you want to be in media? Like talk to
me about your love for that. Are you coming to
take my job? Because I just got this one, so
I need to keep it.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Okay, man, I understand maybe we can you know duo,
So you know what I'm saying, like that something like this,
you know, but yeah, I want to do something like this.
I had actually the Tyrone Tracy Show when I was
at Purdue. Obviously, with football, you only see us on
the football field, so it's kind of hard to understand
us as people if you don't get to see that side.
So that was the main thing, you know, from it,
asking questions allowing you know, some of my teammates to
(05:28):
show their personality in different ways. So that was that
was pretty dope. And then, like you said, communication majors,
I want to like be able to give off my
knowledge to really anyone who's willing to listen. I've been
through a lot, you know, throughout you know, my twenty
four years, through just life in general. So I feel
like it'd be dumb on me to not, you know,
give off my knowledge and wisdom that you know, God
has given me. So yeah, that's you know, really after this,
(05:50):
that's probably you know where I'm headed.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Incredible good luck in that and if I could help
in any way, you know, I'm here all right.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
I want to go back a little bit.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
I want to go back to Tyrone when he was
in eighth I heard a story that you went out
to football practice. I guess your coaches brought you out
the football practice and brought you out there and like
put you at running back, probably gave you the ball,
and you just sast everybody up, like you just did
your thing out there for the first time out there
in the football.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
I need that story. I need I need it from
your mouth.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Yeah, So it was really it was an I want
to say I want to say eighth grade. I want
to say it was ninth grade. It was in ninth
grade because when I first when I first got to
high school, I really I knew I wanted to be
a running back, but like it really wasn't the opportunities
for varsity. So I was really just you know, freshman JV,
and but I knew I was good enough for varsity,
(06:37):
but I just never had no opportunities. And it was
like really crazy, honestly, just because how everything kind of
played out.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
You know.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
They was all, yeah, You're gonna play on JV this weekend,
and I'm mad, I'm hot. I'm telling my MoMA, I
can't believe they got me on JV.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Because to play varsity.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, I'm ready. I can do it.
I can do it. She's like, you know, look, just
go out there, do your best on JV. Make them
put you on varsity. My dad say basical saying the
same thing, like like, ain't nothing given you feel me,
make them put you on varsity. So I went out there.
I'll even remember the numbers. I just remember every time
I touched that ball. It was a touchdown all I remember.
(07:15):
And then that next game, they were like, Okay, we're
gonna we're gonna put you on varsity. Were gonna see
what you can do. I didn't start, but first play
it was like a sixty yard touchdown. Ever since then
they were like, oh yeah, we're gonna keep you up here.
And then like that, next like two games, started playing
a little more. Y'all started starting as the freshman, and
then after that it was just you know lifestyle.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Oh yeah, now you started as a receiver, right.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
No, so I was a running back in high school,
converted to receiver. One of my my officer coordinator, we
went from like a wing tea to a spread and
it was like, you know, we think, you know, you
can be a good receiver. And I love the idea
of using my abilities in space and making people miss
in space. So that was when like I was okay, yeah,
(07:58):
I can do this receiver stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Okay, And then you went back to run because like
you got some hands. I didn't see you catch at
the backfield and seen you. I think, how does that
help you help your game on the football field as
a running back, having that wide receiver background.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Yeah, I mean it.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Helps a lot a lot. Man, Like you get to
the point to where you're comfortable enough to you know,
catch the ball. You comfort them up to run deep routes,
you know, medium short routes. It helps out a lot,
not only on my end, but like the quarterback end,
Like he should be comfortable enough to throw me the
ball and know that I'm going to, you know, do
my best to either it's me or nobody. You know
what I'm saying, I'm gonna catch it or nobody's gonna
catch it. I want to give the confidence of the
(08:35):
coaching staff to be able to put me in slot,
put me outside, put me anywhere, you know what I'm saying,
have me run routes at the backfield, and that gives
you know, versatility for usban then not only for me,
but for the offense as well. So I think, you know,
with me having that background, it definitely you know, allows
me in the offense to do different things, you know,
and use me in different.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Spots as well. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
I think there's a term in football called the more
you can do. Oh yeah, So the more positions you
can play, the more you can add to it to
a football team, the absolute better. Now, I was a
guy that wore number three, and I wore number three
because I think that it was just a number that
resonated with me. It was a number that gravitated to me.
I would see that number all around my life, whether
it was my room numbers in college or phone numbers
(09:16):
that I've had. There was always threes and nine somewhere
in there. And I know you wore three at Iowa
and Purdue with that a special number for you.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Why did you wear three?
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Well, really, I was really a number eleven in high
school because of Tevon Dawson. He was my favorite player.
And I love how he played ball, you know what
I'm saying, Like play with passion all I love that.
So he was my favorite player. So I were number
eleven because of him. And then my senior year, one
of my friends passed. He was on my seven or seventeen,
Dejon Anderson. He was, like I want to say, like
(09:48):
my close friend. But he was someone that always brought
light to every situation, like no matter if he was
losing and winning, like just talking like whatever it was,
he was always laughing, having a good time, and that
really just hit home, you know what I'm saying. So really,
just for me to him, I was like, man, I'm
about to wear number three, you know, because of you.
You know what I'm saying, just really just do everything
(10:08):
in your name. And after Iowa, I was number three there,
I came to Purdue and I was, you know, blessed
enough to be able to wear number three there as well.
And then I came here and I wanted to wear
number three. And then Tate Banks, you know, he got
number three. You know, I went up to him and
asked him, but you know, he he was talking some
part some money that.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
I could, I could, I could start trying to trade
numbers and get in and out of numbers.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Now I remember his stories back and do that.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Eli Manning and some guys Jeff Fiegel's actually are old
our former punter uh and kicker. He pretty much got
like his backyard paid for a patio because he was good.
So one year Plexicco Burds had his number. He went
up to him and was like, y'all need that number.
Or Plexico went up to him, like y'all need that number.
He was like, well, I need my back patio done.
He's like, okay, cool, got his patio done. And then Eli,
(10:59):
he was wearing ten. Eli comes, He's like yoa, I
need that number. He was like, well, I could use
furniture from my patio. So he gave him fast. So
he was literally getting his house done because he had
all these numbers.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Joe.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
It's hilarious and uh okay, So you mentioned Tavon Austin.
Give me your top five running backs in the league
right now, of all.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Time, of all time, Martiall Faulk definitely in there. You know,
Colts Anneapolis. You know that's how we do. Damn Thompson,
Adrian Peterson had some good running backs. But I ain't
gonna lie. I love Derrick Henry.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
I like to watch.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
I love like I look. I love how he played
man like, he played hard and then man twenty nine
every day.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Come on, now, I ain't know he's gonna go back
that far.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
You a little you're a little wet behind the ears now, Yeah,
he was like that. He was probably the first like
running back. His style kind of changed the game for
running backs right thing exactly one hundred and he was
the one catching ball out of backfield, which obviously changed
the game as well in a different aspect. So I
also heard you play basketball too, a little bit a
(12:14):
little something, okay, So who is your If you could
compare your game, see me, I like to compare my game.
I was a little bit of I was a mix
of Steve Francis and Baron Davis. You know what I'm saying,
Just a mix between those two. I didn't go to
the league because I was like, I'd rather play.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Football, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
But you go to the court right now, you it's
over with it.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
I still I might have to put a knee brace on,
but I can still do some things out there.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Yeah, I go to warm it up for an hour
and then I could go. But I could go play.
So who would you compare your game to on the
basketball court?
Speaker 3 (12:46):
I would say, like a I was like a d
Rose when I was playing.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Hold on now, I would drive.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
I was explosively like a lot of people go see
this and be like, oh no, he ain't no d
roll like like I was the type of dude. I
wasn't shooting threes. I was talking like neither with d Road.
Road wasn't coming.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Down a lot of threes.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
But I was like a mid rage. I'll drive past you,
lay up, you know, get rebounds past, facilitator all that.
I would do a little bit of everything, and.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
I play dunking on folks? Though, was you dunking on folks? See?
Speaker 3 (13:17):
I had a couple, I had a few. I wasn't
like you think. I wasn't like outrageously coming down the middle.
But I define I got I got some film.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Okay, okay, okay, incredible.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
I can't say nothing about me, man.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
All right, A couple a couple of questions just about you.
What's your favorite movie?
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Man? Listen, I'm a movie movie guy. Okay, I love
like comedy, action movie. So it really just you know, depends,
like we're on comedy. I'll say the next Friday, really,
any of the Fridays, honestly, yeah, any of the Fridays
all about the Benjamins. And then if you were like
action movies, anything like Liam Neeson in it, okay, watching it.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
In the same type of movie.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Every good, every either being taken or he taking somebody,
like every.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Time that's like you're not you know, I like, you know,
Marvel movies. Who obviously you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Like, you know.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
You feel about Robert Downey Jr. Coming back as Doctor Doom.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
I don't know, I gotta feel the same way with you.
It's just it's just like, yo, my dog was iron Man.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
That's the thing.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
If you was watching, Like if you haven't watched, you
watching this movie, like it's gonna be cool to you,
like for people who've been watching at the beginning, like
you know this man with iron Man, it's gonna be like, bro,
he just he just died.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
But there is no Marvel without Robert Downey. So I
think that's what they lean. That's what they leaning, which
I understand. I guess all right. Game day superstitions, so like.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
I don't want to say I'm superstitious because then like
if it doesn't happen, I feel like something bad going happen.
I don't like say that, but like things that I
do all the time every game, and I always wake
up listening to gosp music like always because it calms
me down. Like my energy is always already high. Like
people some people take, like you know, some energy drinks
or what before. I don't take nothing. Like my energy
(15:14):
is always high. Like whatever you see on the field,
that passion that is pure, that's me.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
I love that. I love that.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Okay, okay, I want to play a little game man,
a little blind ranking Okay, we got the Thanksgiving holiday
coming up. Okay, so I want you to rank these
Thanksgiving sides one through five, one being the best, five
being the least best, without knowing what comes next, right
obviously blind ranking.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Okay, So first one, cranberry sauce.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Five five, hold on, hold on, you're not just gonna
dismiss cramp.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
That's my favorite. That's number one the world you know
for me?
Speaker 3 (15:50):
What good?
Speaker 2 (15:51):
By the way, don't put the little cranberries in your
cranberry sauce.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
That's disgusting. Don't.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
I'm very disappointed in you, off the bat, off the
bound disappointed.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Okay. So Crambers is five mashed potatoes and gravy.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
M Okay, now you're getting somewhere. Okay, I put I
don't know what I don't know what's next, so I
ain't gonna do number one. Put that number two.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Number two, but it's high.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
That's definitely yeah, that's up there.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Okay, Stuffing.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
I would put that number two, and I ain't gonna lie.
I would put that number two and put Mattes number three.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Okayes number three, Yeah, Stuffing number two.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Okay, Next, I can't wait to see where you put
this one mac and cheese. I'm going number one, okay,
number one? Yeah, who's making the mac and cheese? And
the family, who's the one that charged? Because you know,
somebody in charge of everything.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
It's my aunt. My aunt. She makes like really good
mac and cheese. My mom may be really good back
cheese too. Shout out to Mom's but my aunt. You know,
when it comes of Thanksgiving.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
My aunt. Shout out Auntie.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Shout out, shout out Auntie.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Okay, okay. And and Turkey mm hm, you're a turkey guy.
I am by more him.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
Okay, okay.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
I feel like a lot of people would be one
or the other, but like I like both. But you know,
Honey glaze Ham, you got me dogs. If you put
him in there now have been one for sure.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Turkey, I put that foll Okay, send them more. Tyron
Tracy Man, thank you for pulling up to the players lines.
We appreciate you, and good luck the rest of the way.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Yes, sir, appreciate you.
