Speaker 1 (00:04):
At least.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
He's the Drive with Dale Lolly and Matt Williamson on
your twenty four to seven home of the Black and
Gold Steelers Nation Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Welcome back to our number two of the drive here
on Steelers Nation Radio. I am Dale Lolly, he is
the Matt Williamson and Matt mel Kuiper has come out
with his latest mock draft here. That's what we'll yeah,
well we'll surrounder right, it's a two rounder. Okay, Fortunately
the Steelers only have one pick at sure point.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
As we know that he I knew it came out
and click on it.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
I know.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Him and mcshae used to fight all the time about
we're not gonna have trades, you know, Mel's old school.
And then eventually they are allowed to have trades. And
then Mel said only at the end, but right when
we're getting late to the draft. So did he include
trades or not?

Speaker 3 (00:52):
I can't remember. I can't get to it. Yeah, yeah, okay,
cam Ward number one, Sure Titans, that's going to happen.
He is Travis Hunter now going number two to the
Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
I heard this morning that Vegas odds has changed in
that direction.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
I think it's largely because Abdull Carter hasn't done anything
in this draft process. He's had two injuries to just
got two right, the shoulder thing, okay, is fine, right
once you start having it again. We just talked about
Julio Jones in the previous segment, that foot issue that
he had plagued him throughout the course of his career.
Mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
That's a good point, right, and just I'd like you
to work out if him he was a second picking
the draft on you. Yeah, I think Hunter is the
best player in this draft. But I mean if you're
the Giants, I assume you still take Carter and then
you shop Thibodeaux, which has been rumored anyway, but.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Tough shopping though this year in this particular draft, Right,
I could get a lot. You might as well keep him.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
You might as well keep them and rotate them, and
it's not your biggest need. Like Giants would have much
ri to taken a quarterback or probably Hunter.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
He has him taking Abdul Carter at three. Sure, maybe
a's trade out of that spot to somebody really has
to have Abdul Carter, but again it's a deep ed
rusher draft. Yeah. Yeah. At four, the uh Patriots take
Will Campbell.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
I prefer Membos slightly, but left tackles a much bigger
need than Campbell's. The left and Membos a raft And yeah,
Membo's are right, I get it. Yeah, I think that's
the pick I would make if I were them.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Jacksonville at five takes Mason Graham, the defensive tackle four ringan. Yeah.
At six, he has the Raiders taking Ashton Genty, running
back from Boise.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
I don't think we'll get out of the top ten,
and I think six is a very obvious landing spot.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
At seventy has the Jets taking arm On Membo the
offensive tackle.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Although they're pass catchers. Besides, Wilson are really bad. Yeah,
they have a lot of holes.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
At eight, the Panthers take Jalen Walker, the linebacker from
Georgia become super Chalky too. At nine, Shador Sanders goes
to the New Orleans Sints.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
I can see it. It's not what they do, but
I could understand it. I mean, you could bring them
along slow with Car. You could try to trade Car
after the draft.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Actually, I think that's a better landing spot for him.
It's not in the northeast. Yeah, what he would be
with the brownser Giants.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
That's one of my concerns with having him in the
top twenty one for Steelers. I don't think he fits
this area of the country.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Now because I understand he played at Colorado, so he
has played him weather. Yeah, but he doesn't have a
super strong arm and they're season's.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Over before the wind, right, I mean he is not
real well equipped for the Northeast. The physicality one.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeah. At ten, the Bears take Tyler Warren.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Okay, I actually threw that out there the other day,
thinking Genty's not there. I would go towards edge. Everyone's
given him O line. I think their O line is solved.
I'm just not a big Cole Comet fan, you know.
Give me a give me a tight end.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
At eleven, Will Johnson goes to the forty nine Ers.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Okay, that makes sense. They have a lot of needs.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
To At twelve, the Cowboys take Omari and Hampton, the
running back from North Carolina.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
That's probably the earliest he could go. Would you take
him over your choice of receivers if you were them, No,
you'd take gold not in this draft. Yeah yeah, yeah,
me too.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
At thirteen, the Miami Dolphins take jaw Da Barron, cornerback
from Texas. Armstead retired over the weekend as well. The
Dolphins have a lot of holes, really.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Bad safeties, decimated, the tackles, really bad.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
The offensive lines. It's been bad for three years. And
just lost your best guy and your quarterback. Every time
he gets hit, you get to hold your breath and
wonder if that's going to be the one that ends
his career.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Yeah, I think they're in a terrible situation. I bet
they win fewer games. I think the windows shutting slamming down. Yeah,
I would consider trading Hill or she probably should have
already at fourteen.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
The Colt State Colston Loveland, the tight end from Michigan.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Everyone puts the tight end there. They went the tight
ends to go high.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Yeah, and I don't necessarily they're fine as pass catcher
and they run the ball like crazy.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
And I think we both gave him. I know I did,
and I thought you did. No one di mention we
were did the video gave the guard out of Bama? Yeah,
I mean it makes more sense Jonathan Taylor and Anthony
Richardson running the ball. Give me a big mashing guard.
You lost your guard in free agency you know, I mean,
how much are they gonna throw the tight end? They
got Pittman, they got downs, I mean they got chain movers.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Yeah. The Falcons at fifteen take Mike Green, Yeah, outside
linebacker from Marshall. At sixteen, the Cardinals take Matthew Golden.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
H that's that's a I don't know if they're in
the spot to take luxury picks.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
He just paid Trey McBride a bunch of money. He
used a high pick on Marvin Harrison last last year.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Wilson's not terrible. Yeah, you know, I would go defense.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
Seventeen, the Bengals take Gihad Campbell, the linebacker from Alabama.
And I think when we did our mock draft, I
think I gave the I either had him there or
I moved him from there.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
I always have him going to Tampa, but I could
see him going earlier.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
The Bengals inside linebackers, they leave a lot to be
desired to. Yeah, and Jermaine Pratt once out of.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
There, Yeah, they could might dump him on at day
or something good, a Day three pick or something.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
For him, like he's not like, oh I get a
hold on from Jermaine Pratt, if I can get you
hot Campbell instead.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
He could help their edge too, and he has some
edge stuff to him. I don't hate the fit. They're
another team though.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
I don't think they could go will go like I
would say, they won't go tight end, but they could
do something on offense. They could take an interior lineman
anywhere on defense.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Yeah. At eighteen, the Seahawks take Calvin Banks Junior, the
offensive tackle from Texas.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Sure, i'd probably put mcguard if I were them.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
But at nineteen the Buccaneers take nick Emywari safety from
South Carolina. Yeah, it could be your dimeback or two.
At twenty the Broncos take Ted McMillan, the wide receiver
from Arizona.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
I think that's pretty good value for him. Yeah, pair
him with Sutton, Yeah, I can live with that.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
At twenty one he has the Steelers taking Derek Harmon,
defensive tackle out of Oregon.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
And all three are on the board. Wouldn't truck me
at all. I think he's my third of the three.
But I get it.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
I can understand if they did that because again I'm
looking at arm length, I'm looking at size. He the
whole thing. He's got all the prerequisites. I don't have
to squint and say, okay, can he play? No, he's
a defensive end. Oh yeah, he might.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Be the best pass rusher of the three now consistently
like Nolan's best moment, you go, whoa you know, but
Harmon I would say brings more consistent pressure. Yeah, at
least his past season.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
At twenty two, the Chargers take Gray Zabel, the offensive
lineman from North Dakota stateh.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
I mean their interior. I know they're not thrilled with
the play them the center. Yeah, so I guess it
would be the center because if they're considered kicking Zion
in the center too.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Yeah. At twenty to sign the center. Yeah, nobody have
known them. Twenty three the Packers take Mikel Williams. That's
their kind of pick traits edge usher in Georgia Ryeah, Minnesota.
Then at twenty four takes Donovan Jackson, the guard out
of Ohio State.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
I don't know that they would do that. Yeah, when
they revamped the interior row line.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Maybe you're gonna play them a right tackle.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
No, no, O'Neil's there. Yeah, I think the line's on.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Yeah, I don't see that's a defensive pick. I don't
see that one at all, unless he.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Just wanted to make sure he got him in the
first round. That kind of how this Abel pick felt too,
like Mel's big on that he wants to he likes
to be able to say, I have him in the
first round. Did he win the first round?

Speaker 3 (08:49):
You know? Twenty five detections take Josh Connery, the offensive
tackle from Oregon.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
That'd be great. Cam Robinson can hold on the fort
for a little, you know.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
At twenty six the Rams to Jackson Dart, quarterback from
Ole Miss.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
That's starting to become a little chalk here now that
I think the world's waking up that, yeah, he's not
going twenty first.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
At twenty seven, the Ravens take Malachi Starks to safety
from Georgia. I could see that for them, their type
of move. I think that's actually who I'm walked to.
That is it just because it then allows them to
bring Hamilton down in the box to what he used
to do, back to what he used to do as
opposed to I mean, they started Darius Washington as strong safety,

(09:30):
like right right, a five foot nine strong safety.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
He really should be your third guy. Yeah, and they've
they've shown a propensity. Hamilton Linderbaum of taking non premium
positions in the first round. Yeah, they just have a
high grade. Take them.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
The Lions at twenty eight take Donovan as a RECU
linebacker from Boston College.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Rush seems to be the move there.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
At twenty nine, Washington takes Shamar Stewart, the defensive end
from Texas A and m.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
PRIs Meldon and I have him going higher, not that
I would take him higher.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
But Buffalo then takes Maxwell Harriston, the cornerback out of Kentucky.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
It's a good player, a little undersize, but yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
At thirty one, Josh Simmons, the offensive tackle from Ohio
State goes to the Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
H and they need a guard, but maybe just best
offensive line value available.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
And at thirty two, James Pierce Junior, the outside linebacker
from Tennessee goes to the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
I think someone on the D line is going to
go there. No Nolan, no Grant.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
No Nolan, no Grant. At thirty three, the Brown Steake
Tyler Shuck, quarterback from Louisville.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
I would get that.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
At thirty four, the Giants take Jaylen Milroe, quarterback from Alabama.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
So I keep lumping those teams together because obviously they
pick right next to each other. But if they end
up landing Cousins, which I think is a good chance
they do. Yeah, what's the difference between Cousins and Pickett
and Wilson and Winston. They're kind of like the same room,
you know, like, okay, you can you can put in
a young pup in there, or I could try to

(11:05):
live with it and live for tomorrow. And they're kind
of the same situation.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
Yeah. Igbuca goes at thirty six to the Jaguars.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
One more pass catcher would help. Yeah, I bet they
could see some Chris Godwin in him from their Tampa days.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Luther Burden, the third, goes to the Patriots at thirty eight.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
They would receive her an O line. At least they're
addressing their two needs.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Thirty nine, the Bears take Walter Nolan.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
I think their D line needs some help, especially edge.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
The Saints take a Zerier Thomas at forty corner. Used
to be one of their strengths, but it's not anymore. Yeah.
Traveon Henderson is the third back taking. He goes at
forty one to the Bears.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
I think they'll take a back pretty high. Yeah, I
mean considered, they came from Detroit and Swift can't be
in the long term plans.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
They wouldn't have the banger, though they would have Bang.
Swift can play that.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Nifty guy.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Nifty guy. Kenneth Grant goes at forty three to the
forty nine Ers.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Not really their style. Now, good player and that's good value,
but they're more of an upfield team.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
Trey Amos, who visited the Steelers today, goes at forty
four to the Cowboys. The cornerback from l Miss so
many directions. Yeah, Benjamin Morrison at forty six, the cornerback
from Notre Dame to the Falcons.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Well, I was getting coffee. Schefter just put out that
he's putting a private workout on in like a week
or so.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
Yeah, that's Johnson Will Joel Johnson doing the same on
next Monday.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
I wonder iful, Like Abdel Carter Will, a lot of
these guys still have stuff looming.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
I don't think Carter Will. That's a fresh foot injury.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
And he's probably saying I'm gonna be a top three
pick no matter what.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Tyler Booker, the guard out of Alabama, goes at forty
seven to the Cardinals.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
That's a good fit for them. It's late for him,
but yeah, so many teams run this outside zone and
he's a guard only and didn't test well, and you
know he's on for every scheme.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Darius Alexander goes at forty eight to the Dolphins.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Yeah, I'm glad Mel sees him in that light. His
name hasn't come up much lately, but really good.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
At fifty, the Seahawks take Shavon Revel Junior, the cornerback
from East Carolina.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
It's a different scheme, but he looks like a Seahawk corner.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Fifty one, the Broncos Tate quin Show Judkins, the running
back from Ohio State.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
Yeah, I mean Hampton was off the board and they
picked in the first round.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
At fifty two, which had been the Steelers pick. This
was the DK Metcalf trade. The Seahawks take Jaden Higgins,
wide receiver from Iowa State.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Okay, go get a big receivers.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Take that swap right now. Straight up.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
I'd rather have Dkay in the contract than Higgins. I
think so too clearly. Yeah, to be honest with you,
I like Higgins. I like Higgins, but I don't think
he's special. I think Metcalf's way more talented. He's older,
and he's more defensive.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
I get that. TYLERK Williams, defensive tackle out of Ohio State,
goes at fifty six to Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
On link the grant as a big space eater. That
would be a nice consolation prize.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Jalen Noel, who's also been in for a visit with
the Steelers, goes at fifty eight to the Texans.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
They need it. I mean it'd be your tank, Dell.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
Let's see here. Darian Porter, the cornerback from Iowa State,
goes at sixty one to the Commanders.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
I think he's gonna go high, and I mean second
round is pretty high for him.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
One year starter.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
Caleb Johnson, the running back out of Iowa goes at
sixty three to the Chiefs. They should be in the
market for a running back, yeah, I mean he can't
just continue to string at the.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
The the checkos of the world. Yeah right.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
And then finishing off round two, Kevin Winston Junior, the
safety from Penn State, goes to the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
I think he's a really really good player, big, physical, fast,
He's a good player.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Yeah, so just a two round mock draft from mel
kiper junior there.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
I always talk about the mockers, and Mel's very dowed
in with where people are gonna go. Maybe not the
landing spots and all that, but I bet he's within
ten picks of a lot of those where they end
up going off.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
The board at times. I mean, he hasn't hit them all.
Nobody's gonna hit pretty well down. Nobody's gonna hit them all,
but right. And the thing that you see a lot
of again, we don't know what the medicals are for
a lot of these guys, and we don't know what
the off the field stuff is for a lot of
these guys. NFL teams do. And if you see a
guy who everybody had pretty much consistently, oh he had

(15:28):
him his first round, second round guy, and all of
a sudden he's going in the fourth.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
That's why.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
Typically it's a medical issue that nobody knows anything about,
or it's something off the field that nobody knows anything about.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
My Steeler impression, though, was if Melo doesn't think Nolan,
Grant and Harmon start coming off the board until twenty
one to thirty five ish again need two to tango,
But I wouldn't mind moving down, and we do it
all the time.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
I just don't know who the partners would be to
move up.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
I'm just curious who was on the board at twenty
one beside Dart.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Dart was there. I mean, would the Giants are would
somebody want to move up to get Zabel? Probably not,
And somebody want to move up to get mikeel Williams.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Maybe maybe they start falling. Yeah, that absolutely could happen.
That would be the logical one.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
Josh Connorley would be one that I could see go
up and get a tackle. Dart was another one.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
Yeah, but it'd be like the Giants are brown.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
Nobody's probably moving up from Alachi Starks No as RECU
Shamar Stewart.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Someone would have to love Stuart and thinks they can
turn him into the d line coach.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
As Josh Simmons probably not injured.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
We get new reports on him somehow.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
Yeah. So, I mean, if the draft falls quite this way, now,
maybe a receiver, since two receivers, maybe right ahead of
the Steelers, maybe somebody said I got to go up
and get a receiver.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Buka and Burden went pretty early in the second round.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Detections. Look at it and go one.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Right, Yeah, they get a bunch of future picks who
from the Tunsil deal and things like that. Maybe maybe.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
So I don't know if you were the Giant Steelers side,
if you're the Giants, would you give up? Well, I
know the answer because we don't like Dart. The answers no.
But if you're the Giants and you love Dart, I'd
give quite a bit to get to twenty one or
somewhere before the Rams.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
Yeah, you know you think the Rams are gonna be sure? Yeah,
but where do you go? And I don't love Dart
as much as I love lamp lamp lamp. Everybody loves lamp.
I love lamp. Yeah, I like moro. Let's get to
a break. That was mel kiper Junior's latest mock on
ESPN dot com. He's Matt Williamson. I am Dale LOLLI.

(17:43):
You're listening to the Drive here on the Steelers Audio Network, Matt,
and now I'll be back with more right after this.
At least.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
He's the Drive with Dale Lolly and Matt Williamson on
your twenty four to seven home of the Black and
Gold in Steelers Nation Radio.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
And we are back I'm Dale lolli. He is the
Matt Williamson and Matt Our conversation to close that hour
number one about Julio Jones and the receiver conversation got
me thinking a little bit about this, and I wanted
to take a look here at the Hall of Fame
monitor on Pro Football Reference. Yeah, yeah, cool setup. And
I know for a fact that it gets used in

(18:27):
the conversation when you're talking about who gets into the
Hall of Fame. So looking at the wide receiver position,
Jerry Rice is number one.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
The longevity's so crazy too.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
His Hall of Fame monitor score, it might be the
highest of anybody.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
I'd have to look, wouldn't be shocked.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Three eleven point ninety nine. I forget what's good. Obviously,
that's like the bestball. So the average Hall of Fame
wide receiver, their average score on here is one hundred. Okay,
he's three times eleven. The next best guy is Randy
Moss at one fifty point one.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Two, which is incredible, Which is a fantastic incredible right
right right, he's at three.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
I've never looked at this before. I'm like, holy mackerel,
that has to be that's insane. I got I gotta
look at quarterback now because the only person who could probably.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Brady, I guess, is the only one close.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
Brady's at two sixty three point oh three.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
And Rice is over three hundred.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Rice is over three hundred. I mean, like Lawrence Taylor,
eighteen seasons, the things they didn't play long that thirteen
of them were Pro Bowl seasons. He was first team
All Pro ten times, and he won three Super Bowls.
Like all those things factor into that. Oh, by the way,
he got one hundred and ninety seven touchdown catches.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
I mean, he wasn't the best receiver in the league
after he left the Niners. But people think he was.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
Like an old man and was like bad.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
He was never bad.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
Yeah, he was a seahawk and a raider and you know,
like he was still getting open.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Four years old or whatever.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
It's insane.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
It's insane.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
That's eighteen seasons as a starter, eighteen years of star. Yeah.
The amazing thing about is going back to the Antonio
Brown conversation, his score is one oh four point four.
As I mentioned, the average Hall of Fame wide receiver
is one hundred with eleven years as a starter. Because

(20:20):
they factor that into how many years? Did you? Were
you an actual starter?

Speaker 1 (20:24):
And Tyler sent us Lawrence Taylor's it's to twenty two
point five, which is pretty darn good. It's pretty awesome.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
Too, but not three hundred yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
Two thirds of it basically wow.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
Uh so Antonio Brown did that in seven seasons as
a starter. I mister, what you said there before was
the average Hall of Fame wide receiver has a score
of one hundred, but started eleven years and made six
six Pro Bowls, two All Pros, and one a Super Bowl.
He's under eleven year start. He was seven year starter,

(20:58):
seven Pro Bowls, four times first team All Pro, and
also won the won a Super Bowl. He is by
far the guys who are above the average Hall of
Fame wide receiver score. He's over one hundred, has the
fewest seasons played by far.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
I guess that doesn't surprise me if you don't mind
who's after Moss, Like, who are the top dudes?

Speaker 3 (21:21):
Marvin Harrison has a score of one forty seven point
one eight.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
A lot of consistency there and a ton of catches.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
Fitzgerald was at one forty one point nine. He would
have beaten him if he had won a Super Bowl,
he'd have a higher score than Marvin Harrison, but he didn't. Okay,
Terrell Owens, how many years Larry has left the weight
but not many? Yeah, I think he's eligible next year. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Good.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
Terrell Owens won forty point five to three. Steve Largent
who you mentioned? One thirty six point three nine, James Lofton.
He's a compiler, but he had some really good years
with the Packers. Yeah, one twenty seven point six to one.
Lance Alworth.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
I was gonna bring him up. I mean because for
his day, it's like he was.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
His stats. To compare what he did at his in
his time from nineteen sixty two to seventy two when
he was putting up fifteen hundred yards and when nobody
else did that, right, nobody else did.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
That the other one that's crazy.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
He's like Babe Ruth exactly.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
I was use that example, like Babe Ruth at more
home runs than other most teams. Why am I forgetting
his name? The Johnny Unitiss receiver. That was incredible to Meredith. No,
it's not Meredith, Paul No, No, before mackiw was the
tight end. I mean we're talking like in the fifties.
He may even been before United.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
But Don Mayor, Yeah, it was also off the charts
for his era. His scores ninety one point three to one.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
The other guys who were above.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
In the footballs they played with were like these big
man covers.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
And you can kill the receivers. Yeah right, They didn't
even like Chris Carter's is after all, Worth at won
twenty two point eight nine, Tim Brown at one thirteen
point three to one.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
And these are all pretty easy Hall of famers.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
Reggie Wayne won eleven point one. He's not He hasn't
gotten in. It hasn't for several years. Now.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Hold sure he passes a stiff test.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
Tory Hold is one oh nine point two two. Did
he just get in? No, he's still He's still waiting, okay.
Bruce is in, Julio's at one oh eight point six.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Oh, he's gonna go.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
Antonio Brown's one oh four point four eight.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
Do you think he'll get in first ballot?

Speaker 3 (23:30):
No?

Speaker 1 (23:30):
I don't either.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
I think the off the field stuff is going to
affect that.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
They say it's not supposed to in this Hall of Fame,
but it always does. Jo didn't get in first try.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
Paul Warfield and I think there's now a situation where
they don't want to put as many first time guys in. No,
because there is a backlog of players. But you do
think ab is a Hall of Famer, Yeah, I mean
you think he will get in. Yeah, Warfield is one
oh one point four six. You used to have an
office next to his.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
He scout with us.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
Yeah, really good dude, Steve Smith one hundred point four
to one, not in, not in now.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
It's a little easier nowadays. Yeah, but you still gonna
get Pro Bowls and you compete with the receivers of
the day.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Some of the guys below that one hundred threshold. And
again Jerry Rice's number.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
Excuse the I guess the average.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Excuse the average in a big way. He's like, he's
like three Hall of Fame receivers, Yeah, wrapped into one.
Uh So you got Isaac Bruce just under one hundred,
Charlie Taylor just under one hundred, Tyreek Hill at ninety
three point zero one is going, Mike.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
I think of some active guys are going. Tyreek's going.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
Michael Irvin and Andre Andre Johnson recently got in. The
aforementioned Don Maynard. Okay, Charlie Joyner. What years did Maynard
play fifty eight to seventy three, Charlie Joyner, Art Monk.
Monk's a compiler, but the longest long career Raymond Barry.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
M hmm.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
Del Schauffner. I'm not familiar with his work. He played
from fifty seven to Simon too. I'm thinking of Yeah,
that's who you're at. I'm thinking of Henry Ellard, Calvin
Johnson again, he's kind of the ab argument nine seasons
as a starter, eighty four point one nine.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
But so I just heard this today just because Calvin
Johnson came up. If Hunter goes to, that'd be the
highest receivers been drafted since Calvin Johnson, who went to. Yeah,
if he goes to, it'll be the highest of cornerbacks
ever been drafted. No one's gone the top two. Yeah,
I think some have gone three. I think like Champailey

(25:38):
went three years something.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
Yeaheah. I'm just looking at some of the current Steelers on.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
My Swanon stalls are in, but their scores aren't great.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
Yeah, I'm just looking at current Steelers who are still playing.
Cam Hayward is now up to seventy one point nine
to three on the Hall of Fame Monitor the average
Hall of Fame defensive tackle as a score of one
o two, which is crazy because you would think it
wouldn't be as high as a wide receiver, but there
aren't as many guys in.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
So, Aaron Donald's number one on the list at one
one eight, one point one eight.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Bob respect like Joe Green, Aaron Donald should be won.
I mean he won m VP A I mean he
was the best defensive player for a long time.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Yeah, Bob Lily's second, Randy White third, Alan Page fourth,
Joe Green is fifth with the Hall.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Of Fame one.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
Yeah. Yeah, but yeah, so again, Hayward's making a push
here to uh.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
If he has ten sacks saxt year, I bet he's in.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
If he gets he gets another eight sax season, he's yeah, probably.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
You know, do you know how many saxsi is off
the top of your head?

Speaker 3 (26:47):
Eighty eight and a half.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Okay, if he gets you one hundred, it's a done deal,
I think. So yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Yeah, looking at what they do, playoff wins, super Bowls,
that kind of stuff matters. Uh t J Watt on
the Hall of Fame monitor.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
Is really high, right, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
Lawrence Taylor's number one out at edge rusher outside linebacker
to twenty two point five five, Derek Brooks one's sixty
four point five, Jack Ham one forty one point six
to eight.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
It's weird comparing those two, but yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
Yeah, Ted Hendricks one thirty six point two OHO, and
then Junior Sayout was number five at one twenty one
point nine to eight. Uh. The average outside linebacker scores
one o three for a Hall of Famer. For a
Hall of famer, Khalil Mack right under that, right now
at one oh one point five. Von Miller's at one
hundred point four to eight. The three guys after him

(27:39):
on this list are all in. Derek Thomas is going
to go to Yeah, Derek Thomas, Kevin Green, de Marcus
Ware all in the Hall of Fame. Then you get
the Terrell Suggs at ninety five point three.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
He didn't get in this year. He didn't get in
this year, Alan did.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Uh. Then you got Larry Grantham at eighty five point five,
and then TJ. Wa It's seventy seven point five to five,
still and still churning. He's gonna be a top ten
all time guy on this one.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
I remember we did this like too many camps ago,
so it was like two seasons ago and him and
Mahomes had like the exact same case. Yeah, I mean
they really had like comparable Mahomes had more playoff stuff,
I mean, obviously, but their numbers were about the same
compared to their respective positions.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
If you look at what what has done again in
terms of the eight seasons as a starter, seven time
Pro Bowl player, four time first team All Pro. Everybody
else around him on this list has played at least
ten years. The average Hall of Famer plays twelve.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
Wow, will be for him?

Speaker 3 (28:41):
This is his eight season.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
This is eight.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Yeah, well this would be nine, okay. Huh so when
people talk about people talking about him, well, you know,
he's almost at the end of his career. The again,
the average Hall of Fame edge rush outside linebacker place
twelve years.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Place twelve years again yeah, Lordnce.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
Taylor played thirteen.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
Yeah. I meant say it's about Cam too. Getting that
first team All Pro this year helps your case out
a lot, a lot. I mean, I think Watt was
a second team All Pro, which is still really helps
your case, but.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
Not as much as the first because they only list
the first team All pros on here.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Oh really, he may have a first team or it's
still in store the next couple.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Of years, without a doubt, Yeah, without a doubt.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Is Garrett much behind him?

Speaker 3 (29:31):
I know he's behind, don't They list Garrett probably with
the defensive ends?

Speaker 1 (29:34):
Oh yeah, h.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
So Garrett Miles Garrett at seventy four point two when
we say TJ.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
He was over one hundred, wasn't he?

Speaker 3 (29:46):
He was under TJ's at seventy seven point five to five. Okay,
so close. Yeah. One was the number one overall pick
in the draft and the other one was the yeah,
twenty eighth pick in the draft.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
I mean in the same draft numbers and stats, and
case is stronger to me.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
Yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
Just looking here at the safety position, they list all
defensive backs the same, which is kind of weird because
they do breakdown.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
It's kind of like Jack Ham and Lawrence Taylor, Yeah,
aren't the same.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
Just looking here where micka Fitzpatrick is at on this list.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
I would think he has a lot of work to do.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
Yeah, he's at forty one point five to five, but again,
only six seasons as a starter, so.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
I bet there's not many safeties that they have played
less ten years. Yeah, define definitely have that longevity.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Yeah, I mean he's just Emma Thomas is the lowest
rated guy defensive back who's in. He's at fifty two
point eight five and you're looking at Ken Riley at
fifty four point eight five. Okay, so he's getting into
that range. Yeah, yeah. Eric Allen got in. He's a
fifty eight point nine to five.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
The safeties have been underwhelming that have gone in immediate.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
But these are guys that played eleven. Emma Thomas played
eleven years, Ken Riley played fifteen, Eric Allen played fourteen.
You know, these guys hang around. John Lynch played thirteen.
He's in at sixty four point two eight. Make a
Fitzpatrick's going to be by the time he retires, He's
going to be in that range.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
That's the thing is, as long as injuries don't derail it.
He's as good a player as.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Some of those. Again, I think again they're Hall of famers.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
That's great, but they didn't blow me away. As John
Lynch is the best safety, he's not in Reed or
Paul Hall or you know, I mean, Brian Dawkins was
better than those guys.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
So Donnie Shell finished at sixty eight point eight eight.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
And he got in and he took Veterans Committee is
a little different obviously. Well, last Steeler. Note, where is
Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers? I think Rogers Rodgers in now,
I know that, but I'm just curious where they stack up.
And quarterback's a different world.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Russell Wilson the average Hall of famers at one oh eight. Okay,
Russell Wilson right now is at ninety three point sixty five.
But again, you got Tom Brady at six three point
oh three. Peyton Manning's a two fifty seven point eight zero. Wow,
they skew the How many MVPs is Manning have? I
think three or four? Yeah. Number three on the list

(32:11):
is Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
And I'd say Rodgers has to be top five.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
He's at one ninety seven point twenty six. He's ahead
of Montana, He's ahead of Brett Farve, He's ahead Johnny Unitas,
He's ahead of Joe Montana. Yeah, Drew Brees, John Elway,
Dan Marino, f Tarkanden Steve four for Rogers. Yeah, that's
pretty remarkable.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
Yeah, Yeah, I don't know if Wilson's going to get
in Rogers could have retired five years ago.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
Yeah, Wilson never first team All Pro, that's going to
hurt him, but he does.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
The last couple of years are going to hurt him.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
Yeah, twelve twelve years as a starter, ten is a
Pro Bowl player. That's going to help. And he's still
going to compile. Like he's right behind Terry Bradshaw.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
What's the quarterback average?

Speaker 3 (32:50):
The quarterback average is one oh eight. Where's Mahomes? Mahomes
as we speak, is at well, where is he? Oh,
there is one oh two point.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
Zero, So he's still below the A.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
He's still below the average, but he's ahead, just moved
past Ben Roethlisberger. In fact, Ben Roethlisberger's at one one
hundred point two eight.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
His case is crazy. I wonder where Lamar and Allen are.

Speaker 3 (33:15):
I mean Lamar is at eighty one point.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Four, okay, so he's there on the road.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
Yeah, and Allen is at sixty point one three okay,
because he's never been a first team All Pro and
he hasn't wont to.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
See and he won the MVP last year, but it
wasn't a first team Allpro No, I mean, so I
wonder I mean Lamar got first Team All Pro, Allen
got the MVP. They're probably about equal weight, and most
times you get both. Yeah, you know, if you get one,
you almost always get the other. Yeah, so I think
they're both going.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
Allen just moved past Jim Kelly on the all time list.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
Kelly was great, but I think Allen's the best Bills
quarterback ever.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
Yeah, different area, different era. Yeah, right, anyways, let's get
to a break. He is the Matt Williamson. I'm Dale LOLLI.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
He is the Drive with Dale Lolly. And Matt Williamson
on your twenty four to seven Home of the Black
and Gold cast in Steelers Nation Radio.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Welcome back. I am he is the Matt Williamson and Matt,
I gotta ask you this question, all right, bringing home.
If an NFL head coach taught a class at a
nearby university or any university, would you sign up for
that class? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (35:18):
I would have as a three year old, a thirteen
year old, a twenty three year old, a thirty three
year old. Yeah, yeah, I mean any portion of my life.
I would have absolutely.

Speaker 3 (35:27):
Because according to Sam Farmer and Gary Klein of the
La Times and No, Sam's got family in Newcastle. He's
been on our show at the Combine before. Pete Carroll
has continued to teach a class at USC. Yeah, that's
what he was doing when he was out of football.

(35:48):
He has continued teaching that class while head coach of
the Las Vegas Raiders.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
I assume it's zoom or whatever I mean, he's not.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
The class is called The Game is Life. It has
three weekly sessions for it's fifty six students. Three hundred
people applied.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
For bet everyone applied for Yeah, right.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
Here's the cool thing about it. There's so many cool
things he's had his some of the guests that he's
had come on to help with the class. Yeah yeah,
and you're in LA so it helps. Steve Kerr, Jason Psychitis,
I can't pronounce his last Yeah, yeah, Rain Wilson, who
is twice shrewd on Okay, on the football people. No,

(36:32):
he's just bringing in people.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
And just he said what he's in the classes football
is life or something like that. He said, the game
is like the game is life. Okay.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
Interesting.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
Sure's a lot of different Carol stories. I mean, maybe
he's not breaking down blocking angles and footwork and past
protection and you know, how to run this play or
you know, cover three zones and things like that, and
just maybe he's just talking about life. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
Apparently he does do something. He's honored his commitment via zoom.
He's only missed one class and that was during the combine.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Okay. Somewhere in my attic is a bunch of coaches
leadership books. I used to be there was a couple
of years there, probably pre internet, when I was like
teens twenties. There's a lot of good like leadership books
out there, and this kind of has that feel to
it where, yeah, there's a lot of football talk in there,
but it's like you learn a.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
Lot of stuff in football.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
Yeah, Like I remember Bobby Bowden's book, Like he said,
my rule for hiring my staff is they have to
be incredibly eager and preferably smarter than me, which he's
you know, he'll laugh at himself. He's like, that's not
the highest bar to get over. And he's like, I
can coach them to coach. Yeah, if they have those
two things, I'll turn them into a tight end coach.

(37:45):
But if they don't, well then you know, maybe they're
just there on the ceiling, you know. And a lot
of his guys went on to be super great head coaches.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
You know. Yeah, I just thought that was interesting. It
would be interesting, Yeah, that would be fun. Just I'm
going to Professor Carroll's class, right, incredible, right, And he's
a high energy guy, and I bet he still is
a blast. I wonder if the list can they get
him to sit down for the zoom or does he
just get up and walk around and you know, and.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
Maybe it's a whole set up like this where there's
cameras everywhere and you know, over there and doing a
little bit.

Speaker 3 (38:16):
After Raiders take part in this and like, like they're
video people have got to last time.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
Right, Yeah, I gotta go. I bet they do. I mean,
if it was Tomlin, don't you think all these folks
we do videos with would be involved making it look good?

Speaker 3 (38:31):
Perhaps?

Speaker 1 (38:31):
Yeah, you know some people. Yeah, absolutely, that's some cool
guests too.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
I would actually, you know, for the if I'm Pete
and I'm not, I might have my players like, hey,
you guys got to sit and watch his class. It's
part of this, Like this is this is me, this
is what I'm about Raiders.

Speaker 1 (38:49):
Here's my All the classes I taught last year optional,
but it's optional high preferred.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
If I were a Raider, If I were a Raiders
player and I didn't know anything about Pete Carroll, what's
he like, I'm.

Speaker 1 (39:00):
Gonna go watch go find it too. I wonder if
I'm sure it's online, I would make it available. I mean,
even if I didn't attend the class, can we watch
it now? Probably on YouTube somewhere.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
Maybe yeah, sure, yeah yeah, although maybe USC has some
rules on that, rules on that, like it's their intellectual property.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
I could see people doing that though, I mean, like
going into announcing is a lot less work than being
a head coach, but it's still you're on the road
and you're prepping for a game and you're on TV.

Speaker 3 (39:27):
So, I mean, we've done shows with Max Starks and
he talked about he went to the boot camp, Oh yeah,
for NFL players to go learn about this, and his
teacher was Greg Cosel. Yeah, one of the people who
worked with them on that. When we had Greg on
at the combine and then Max and Greg group. How
you doing them right? All right?

Speaker 1 (39:43):
You guys know he's broadcast for boot camp. Yeah. I
thought about getting involved at some point, but I don't
really want to be a play by play guy or
you know, that wasn't really my calling, you know, or
sitting there with a microphone necessarily doing like halftime show.

Speaker 3 (39:58):
I wrote to this, you know, but I kind of
looked into it a little bit too. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
Yeah. There's a lot of those kind of opportunities out there.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:05):
So it's just but I can see coaches doing that.
I bet he's not the first to teach a class,
probably not. Probably not.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
On the side the fact that he's still doing it
in fulfilling commitment while the head coach of the of
the Raiders, and he's like laid into his seventies, right, Yeah,
you think Belichick's teaching a class at North Carolina how
to deal with the media.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
Yeah. Yeah, I look bright and cheery on camera.

Speaker 3 (40:32):
Shuffle my papers while I'm talking to them on the phone,
all that fun stuff. Don't answer any questions.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
I am real curious what he looks like as a
college recruiter, head, coach, new organization, all those things. And
I think there is a hard knocks but I don't
know that I trust that it's really what you're going
to see.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
You know, Yeah, yeah, for sure.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
But that's crazy about Carol.

Speaker 3 (40:52):
Yeah, that's gonna do it for today's show. All right,
how about that? We'll be back again tomorrow with the
Dean of Yeah, that would drop by, and maybe Justin
will have some new music for him. Keep throwing different
curve balls of Bob. Anyways, for my partner Matt Williamson,
for Justin Miller here on site running the Justin Miller

(41:13):
hotline and the soundboard, and for Tyler Venttmeyer making sure
the video gets out there on the YouTube. Give us
a thumbs up on there. I am Dale Lolly. We
