某晚，太太突然打趣地跟我說：「你有冇發現自己近年真係長氣咗？」
我當然知道她不是說笑⋯⋯
利是錢
利是錢是我們那個年代的小孩子最重要的收入來源。當時，爸爸媽媽只會給生活費，如學校飯盒錢、交通費等等，而所謂的「零用錢」，往往只能靠吃得便宜一點，或放學後選擇步行回家而省下來。
所以一到農曆年，我們便會「發錢寒」，那句「恭喜發財、利是逗來」是何等由衷地說出口。最記得，一輪拜年活動過後，我和弟弟便會悄悄地躲進洗手間或後樓梯，以手感或目測方式盤算利是封內的是「硬嘢」（硬幣）還是「軟嘢」（紙幣）。
利是錢有什麼用？當然不會高瞻遠矚地用於「將來讀大學」。由於我的利是錢是必須經過母親「抽水」，流到我私人銀包的其實已所餘無幾。既然彌足珍貴，就一定要善用，我們會跑到不同的玩具店格價，然後再思前想後，往往花三五七天，才決定將利是錢押在那件玩具上。
每天都在趕時間，日程表擠得密密麻麻，連生病休息的時間也沒有，究竟是為了什麼？生活真的要如此嗎⋯⋯
