 Gift cards are great gifts to receive, allowing the recipient to spend them however they choose. However, if you don’t shop at that store, or use the card,  you never receive the benefit of the gift. The spiritual gifts we receive from the Lord are no different. The generosity of God knows no bounds. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and saviour, we receive eternal life, as well as other amazing gifts. When lining up at a buffet, we’re met with dozens of decisions for dinner. Although we have many options, not all of them are beneficial, so we should choose what’s best for us, not just what seems best in the moment.  In life, we need to decide between what’s good in the moment, and what’s good for our quality of life. But if we believe, not by our power by the grace of God, that His love is enough to make us new, we’ll be new creations in Christ. Colossians 3 tell us to set our sights on things above. Paul said that his sufferings were minor in comparison to what was coming. When we’re focused on what lies ahead and on all that God has promised for us, what we deal with, go through, and navigate in this life becomes a whole lot more manageable. When an elephant is young, they’re tied with a rope that’s too strong to break. Even as the elephant grows larger and stronger, they’re tied with the same rope.  When they’re full-grown, they possess the power to break the rope, but a conditioned lie keeps them in bondage. What lies are we believing that’s keeping us from the freedom Jesus bought for us? We’ll learn more today with pastor Jeff Edwards.
