Harold was born and raised in the southern province of Zambia. His mother was just 14 years old, and his father was nineteen when he was born. His grandparents, who lived in a small village, took over the parenting role immediately after he was weaned. Harold's upbringing was a struggle; he describes it as "natural military training." Things got worse after his grandparents died, and he moved from one home to another, sometimes walking in the dark, not knowing where to spend the night. While experiencing a tough life, not having a fixed abode, occasionally being homeless, and struggling to find food, Harold only had one goal: to complete his education and get a job. He needed a place to call home and food, but finding school fees was another huge challenge. Amidst all life's challenges, through resilience and the spirit of 'NEVER GIVE UP,' Harold overcame all obstacles to complete high school and pressed on to a Ph.D. level.
