Welcome to The Lathan Minich show! In this podcast I am going to talk about the challenges I’ve been dealing with for most of my life, chief among them being obesity, sleep disorders, and mental illness. Through honesty and vulnerability I know I can positively impact someone and inspire them to make changes in their lives, just as others have done for me. This is just the beginning...
As the title suggest, this episode is about my Father. How I found him and learned that he has long since passed. I use the childish term "Daddy" to emphasize what I've learned in therapy about how the lack of a strong, loving male figure in my life continues to affect me to this day.
In this, the 5th episode of the Lathan Minich Show, I talk about my trip to Japan. How fun and eye opening it was, and also how challenging and eye opening it was. That's not a typo. I discuss how going there with virtually no plan was simultaneously the best and worst way to do it, as well as probably the only way to do it for me. I also give an update on my physical/mental health, a breakthrough I've had with my psychiatric work ...
In the 4th episode of The Lathan Minich show I reflect on my life on my 47th birthday. I discuss the challenges I faced over the past year such as my weight loss/gain, managing my on again/off again sleep apnea and figuring out my sleep chronotype. I look forward to the future with optimism and dare I say, excitement? Oh yeah, and one last thing; I'M GOING TO JAPAN!
In this, the third episode of The Lathan Minich Show, I talk about how someone close to me found my content and how that motivated it me to record this episode. I ask the question of what this podcast is and what I want to do with it. Lastly, I discuss how some very troubling news has allowed me to gain some perspective on my own situation.
In the second episode of "The Lathan Minich Show" I go over some of the surprising, yet understandable reactions I got to the subject matter of the first episode. Next I outline my history, mainly the past 5 years and how transformative they've been. From stabbed then unemployed, to massive weight loss and facing my fear of academia. Lastly, I ask the question; what's next for Lathan? Will this podcast peter out and fade away like ...
In this, the inaugural episode of The Lathan Minich Show I delve into two topics that I am very uncomfortable talking about. Pornography, which I was exposed to at a very young age and which has had a very significant impact on my life in the decades since. Secondly, I talk about suicide. The suicidal thoughts I've had and how I've come to deal with them over the years with the help of my therapist. If you or anyone you know is in ...
