The main lesson I took away from this week was truly seeking God. David sought God's direction with everything. And it is because of that, I truly believe, that David was victorious!

Welcome to week 11 - where we get to read about the loyalty of Ruth and the bravery of David. 

 

This week we read all of the book of Ruth, which is only 4 chapters so that was an easy read! I love the story of Ruth and reading about her loyalty, her hardworking nature and just her overall character. Definitely a woman to admire! 

We also read the first 17 chapters of 1 Samuel and learn the full story of David and Goliath.

Get ready for a rollercoaster, whiplash book in the bible! 

 

Last week, 7 days ago, we celebrated the people of Israel coming into the promise land of Canaan. However, this week we read the full book of Judges and boy oh boy do things change.

 

The people of Israel switch between believing in God and not believing in God quicker than a green light changes red!

We're here! We made it! The people of Israel cross into the promise land from God THIS WEEK! 

 

Chapter 2 kicks off with a familiar scenario of Joshua sending men into Jericho to spy on the land. However, it goes much differently this time! 

 

We also read the back story of the well known bible verse, Joshua 24:15 "For me and my house, we will serve the Lord". I love learning the back stories of verses. This verse is saying so much...

We begin this week with Deuteronomy Chapter 12 vs 1 "These are the statutes and judgements which you shall be careful to observe in the land which the Lord God of your fathers is giving to you to possesses, all the days that you may live on the earth"

 

Deuteronomy is the fifth and final book of Moses. That means we're about to enter into the season of the bible where the people of Israel cross into Canaan.

Okay, I'm going to be super honest with you guys - week 6 of 52 was challenging for me to read. Not only did we learn about the numbers of people within the children of Israel, we also read about God's anger and the punishments he brought to the people of Israel. 

 

Because sin entered our world so early on, there is sin in so much of what we read. God wanted the people of Israel to follow him, trust him, listen to him so badly and...

We wrap up the laws, regulations and instructions from God this week. 

Week 5 of 52 continued focusing on the laws, rules and instructions from God. We learned about the four types of sin offerings, all about Aaron becoming the first High Priest and the laws laid out by God. 

 

I love how Moses, the author of Leviticus, closes this book in the bible. He says in Leviticus Chapter 27 vs 34,

"these are the commandments which the Lord ...

We wrap up Exodus and begin Leviticus this week! 

 

Week 4 of 52 focuses on the laws, rules and instructions from God. 

God spends a good amount of time with Moses telling him the laws and instructions. God also instructs his people, the children of Israel, to build a tabernacle. The tabernacle was a mobile place of worship. This was where the people could go to be with God and God could be with the people. So much detail went into...

During week 3 together, we not only are wrapping up the book of Genesis but we are also kicking off the book of Exodus! 

Exodus has 40 chapters and we read the first 20 together this week! 

During week 3, we get to see beautiful examples of perseverance, following God even when it feels difficult or unsure and the amazingness that comes with following God.

Genesis 26:24 says "Do not be afraid, for I am with you and I will bless you".

We learn about so many of God's blessings in week 2 of our reading the bible in a year journey. We also learn about some family drama between Esau and Jacob. 

What I loved the most during this week's readings is the reminder of how God calls us to act as Christians. And he calls us to forgive, even when those we love wrong us.
