Drawing on faith in Christ, I discuss the challenges of life along with the victory and true freedom available in belief in Jesus alone. Born again in 1987, I have traveled a road that has taken many paths and has at times been very traumatic. Raised in a dysfunctional family, sexually abused at a young age, separated from parents at times, along with the devastation that comes from decades in a fellowship which became a religious cult, it felt like the fear, guilt and shame was irreversible and simply my lot in life. But God! God has opened my eyes to the amazing truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified, and who I am in Him. My identity as a blood bought child of the Living God, through no work on my part other than simply coming to Him in faith, obliterates the religious requirements of man, and HIs great love has set me free from the fear, guilt and shame of my past. If He can change my trajectory from barely existing to victorious, He can do the same for you. -Banner Kidd
Children of King Jesus and Father God have nothing to worry about! So, why do we worry?
Jesus warned His disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. He said the leaven in hypocrisy. Hypocrites, by definition, are pretenders, like actors on a stage pretending to be someone they're not. They act the part, look the part, sound like the part in man's religion, but they have no power because they don't have the Spirit! They are simply faking it to make it! Are you? Or are you following a religion of man that is jus...
We will do what we think about. Sin begins in the mind, and the more we think about it the stronger it gets and then we do it. Even if we're looking at it for way not to do it any longer! But if we keep our mind on Jesus, focused Him. the Author and Finisher of our faith, He will ALWAYS deliver us from this body of death that is bent on sin. Join me on this episode of Saddle Up!
Paul said we are to die daily! How does that work? It is a choice we make to die to our wants and desires, and the way we want our life to be, in order to allow Jesus to live through us. It won't be all sunshine and roses, but it will be exciting. We will likely be persecuted as He was around 2,000 years ago, but we have the promise that we will live forever after our sojourn here, on this mission we've been called to is complete. ...
Jesus tells us in Luke Chapter 8:18 to "take heed how we hear." How can you hear without a preacher? Jesus came as a preacher of the Kingdom of God. The established religionist of Judaism, though they knew the Scriptures of the OT better than anyone alive, didn't hear what was written. They didn't mix it with faith. They didn't believe. Their focus was on a rule book and all they heard were rules and didn't receive the Seed of the ...
Jesus' brother, James, writes, in 1:21, "receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls." As the precious bride of Christ, we receive from Him the implanted Word, which is God. As a man unites with a women, and she conceives and bears a human child, we unite with Jesus, receive the Word and bear fruit to the Father. We bear the fruit of the Spirit and it has nothing to do with law, but is about love! We ...
Habakkuk writes that, "The just shall live by faith." The many verses supply the witness that we are justified by faith. But the word makes it clear in Habakkuk that those who are justified then live by the same faith that they are justified by and in. We begin looking at various verses to see the full context of the glorious truth that we are free in Christ and we are not under the law. In fact, Gentiles, as most of you who listen...
Today's expression of Chrisitanity is nothing like our Savior and Master Jesus' life. He and John the Baptist would have been viewed as homeless and shabbily dressed undesirables who didn't line up with established religion. I believe it's time to take a step back and listen to what Jesus said!
Are we really so arrogant to believe that the Holy Spirit, who is God, needs us to judge our brother or sister, and point out their faults and shortcomings or what we judge as sin? The reality is the finished work of Jesus, resulting in the giving of the indwelling Spirit is all each of us need. We do well if we are simply loving our brother or sister, encouraging them to humbly submit to the Spirit in that love relationship, while...
The Pharisees were in full panic mode. They had to get rid of Jesus! He represented a real threat to their establishment of religion and their authority and grandiosity lives in The Sanhedrin and Judaism. He had to go! They were looking to trap him in a violation of the law of Moses. But He wasn't going to the cross before it was His time, and He didn't stay dead after they mocked, beat Him to an inch of His life, and then took His...
What does it mean about new wine in old wineskins or vice versa? Or what about the old and new fabrics that don't match, and the new, which is stronger, will cause a tear in the old if you try to stitch the new on the old? Old Wine - Old Time Religion... is it good enough for you? It isn't good enough for Jesus, and I can tell you that it isn't good enough for me! Join me in the latest episode of Saddle Up! in Luke Chapter Five.
The Apostle Paul doesn't mince words, neither does Peter when he stands up and addresses the controversy that the false brethren stirred up about bringing believers back into bondage in keeping the "law of Moses." Paul didn't give those false brethren the time of day in the matter. Bless God that He will not leave the one who loves Him in that place of bondage to the law! Let's continue our journey through the letter to the Galatia...
Do you struggle with sinful actions, and can't seem to stop doing what you're doing? Going to church every time the door is open, memorizing Scripture, tithing, and looking and sounding the part isn't working? Jesus said that the purpose for His coming was to proclaim, to preach the Kingdom of God. Why? Because it's the vital key to a life of freedom and victory and to peace and rest, by grace through faith. Check out this latest 1...
We know Papa Yahweh, our great heavenly Father, to be Love. In His love for us, he is protective of us. Seeing us as the apple of His eye he takes it seriously when one divides His body and sows division and discord among the members. None of us have a lock on it, and let's stop pretending we do, and stop allowing that prideful, self-centered mindset to divide the body of Christ. He isn't turning a blind eye to it. In fact, the Wor...
The Lord's Supper is way more than a ritual thimble of juice or wine and a little unleavened wafer! The Lord's Supper is when we commune together with our head in a meal unlike any meal we can imagine. Who is your family? Does it just consist of those in your fellowship, or denomination? There are those who won't take communion with you unless you belong to their church. But! There is only one church and it belongs to Jesus! Join m...
Are you a judge of your brother? To judge our brother or sister we have to first become a judge of the law. We have to determine right from wrong, and that is a very subjective endeavor at best. And what is our standard? Is it the law contained in the Bible? Do you keep the law perfectly, every tenet of it? Join me in this latest version of Saddle Up!
In Romans 13:8, Paul writes, "he who loves another has fulfilled the law." And in Romans 13:10, "love is the fulfillment of the law." So, does that mean that if you say you love another you've fulfilled the law? Maybe, but not necessarily. Paul writes in Galatians 5:18. "if you are led by the Spirit you are not under the law." Paul includes that love fulfills the law and being led of the Spirit assures us we're not under the law. T...
Continuing Verse by Verse, through Paul's letter to the Galatians we begin to see the problem of the false gospel that attempts to include being circumcised and keeping the law of Moses to the finished work of Jesus on the cross. The result of the false gospel is that the gentiles had to be a part of Israel through circumcision, and submit to keeping the law of Moses in order to have access to God. It meant being subject to the cou...
Some say they don't sin because they are born again. But John writes that if we say we have not sin we're a liar and the Truth is not in us! John also writes that "whoever is born of God does not sin." What is it? Are you twisted in knots, worried about your salvation? What was John really meaning in these, seemingly contradictory statements? Listen to this short and to the point podcast and be encouraged in your walk of faith.
God is Spirit, Jesus said, plainly! He is the faithful witness through Jesus Christ. If God gives us gifts, do we trust Him? Or are fearful based on past experiences, or what a man has said in a denominational doctrine, or your own preconceptions? It's time for us to get out of the box we've placed ourselves in and destroy the box once for all, and live this life in complete abandon and relentless pursuit of Jesus Christ, and trust...
