”Where’s Woody Strode’s Star?,’ the podcast where we rediscover the brilliant black actors and entertainers who deserve a brighter spotlight. The title is in tribute to the pioneering actor Woody Strode, who acted for over 50 years in major Hollywood productions. Starting as an actor in 1941, Strode opened the door for many of today’s Black actors and entertainers by starting in Hollywood that he had to tolerate racism from many in the industry. While lesser performers have received recognition in Hollywood through having their named enshrined on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Strode has yet to receive that honor. Strode was an example of the many Black entertainers who gave their all to the industry but are now forgotten. This weekly podcast is dedicated to Woody Strode and others like him. The purpose of the show is to give honor to those performers, be they from the 19th century onto 21st century where Black performers can still suffer from the lack of recognition that Strode experienced.
