Speaker 4 (01:12):
And we're hoping to get Antonio right catch up with
Antonio Daniels bo so hoping to catch up with him. Okay, Friday, bro,
I don't know, no, no, No, we usually get him.
I just I will love each other to.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Go back and think, did you argue with him about
some last time he sat up with you enough after
all these years, you think, so finally had enough?
Speaker 5 (01:33):
Let me tell you some rot and he hit us
back with that Magic Johnson just't gonna be there.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
That's one of the greatest memes. Yes, I love it.
Gifts or gifts or whatever you want to call them,
be there. Oh you got a legends without a doubt.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
I mean the only thing I say, the one to
Marri to him was the Magic Hour that TV showed time.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
No, it's just that.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
No, not that he couldn't have a show, but they
actually had him up there telling jokes like it was
supposed to be like a Tonight Show. And I was like,
you want to talk about miscast and you cannot write
jokes for Magic to get up there to deliver jokes.
That's not everybody can't tell jokes, all right, And then
he just now says in first Twitter, the Dodgers are
(02:23):
playing today. Let me just stop right now, let me
just stop. But Magic Twitter is it's a it's a
it's a great account.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
All right, Well, here we go. It's time. So we
got the news that Carmelo Anthony.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Is headed to the Basketball Hall of Fame in Ringfield, Massachusetts, where.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
I have been a couple of times.
Speaker 6 (02:47):
I've been.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Well, I enjoy it as a as a basketball nut.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah, you would. You would enjoy it. You would enjoy it.
They got a pop a shot, right.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
I saw that. I was there when Joe Dumars. Yes,
I was there. That was pretty special.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
It was great.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
So it's a great place to go visit. I think
I was there one other time if I can remember correctly.
But anyway, so the question is, remember, the NBA doesn't
have its own.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
I should you think they will?
Speaker 4 (03:23):
If I'm Adam Silver, Adam Silver, you want to leave
behind something where people don't look at your legacy as
you were the soft commissioner, you would want to allowed
h load management, you know what I mean? And all
that the legacy should be that they should start an
NBA Hall of Fame. There's no reason why sport doesn't
(03:46):
have its own n own Hall of Fame. And it
doesn't matter what they do with the Basketball of Fame.
That covers everything. They got hall them globe trotters in there,
they got all kinds of people in there, you know
what I mean. So you could keep that going, have
your own NBA Hall of Fame. But the question really is,
and you brought it up earlier because it's the Basketball
(04:07):
Hall of Fame, there's no doubt that Carmela would get
in because you got a couple things all set up.
You have.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
The Olympics where he won gold medals? Yep, both is
it three? Can you look it up?
Speaker 1 (04:20):
I think I want to ask he and Kevin Durant
have four because they went like boom boom, they just
didn't stop.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
I'm gonna say, my gut said, that's what I thought.
My gut was three, three gold medals, and he also
won an unbelievable national championship his freshman year at Syracuse. Right,
get you into the Hall of Fame, Basketball Hall of Fame, yep? Right,
So that's okay. But if we took that stuff away
and it was just based on his NBA career, because
(04:50):
now the whole thing now is that because he's a
Basketball Hall of Famer, what will the Nuggets do? Will
they retire his number fifteen? Because guess who wears number fifteen?
Speaker 2 (05:02):
That's the jokers. You know what I'm saying that's a
by the way, that's a that's another one. I didn't
want to do that one. Today.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
We that's a conversation we had. We're gonna have that conversation.
But anyway, we've got plenty of times. Would Carmelo make.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
It in the NBA Hall of Fame if there was
an NBA Hall of Fame? And I always go with
gut like first, and then I do my research, and
my gut is no, he would not break it down.
Not enough winning. You gotta win their major awards. There's
(05:40):
like a lot of things that I think when you're
on that level. To me, and I'm a hard voter
because I believe in if we have to debate your career.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
You're not a Hall of fame.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
And that's if I say, Kareem abdul Jabbar, you gotta
do a conversation.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
You have no conversation.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
If I say Magic Johnson, you have a conversation, Like
to me, that's right, Michael Jordan, you know Steph Curry,
Like this is what I'm saying, Kevin Durant, when when
you have to debate.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Somebody, I don't believe you're a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
And I do it in baseball all the time, and
I think that that's the way it should be if
someone has to make a case. Billy Wagner just made
it in this year after ten years on the ballot,
got like fifteen percent of the voters first year, and
all of a sudden got enough to be over seventy
five his tenth year.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
But he hadn't pitched him twenty years fifteen. Like if
we take so much better.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
The massage the numbers to get people to feel like, oh,
we missed something, No, we did not miss anything with
Billy Wagner. Mariano Rivera, on the reverse, got in unanimous
his first time.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
They won five World Series.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
How many would the Yankees have won if they didn't
have a closer like Mariano? Probably one or two may
they win, but that is nearly one'd have won five.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
So anyway, I think I think that he had a.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Very good NBA career, And I think, you know, we're
getting to the point now where everybody they think everybody's
a Hall of Famer, and I really don't when you
look at the top fifty list and really look at
our top seventy five man, because even the top seventy
five I questioned Damien Little, I think, yeah, that was
because it's who's come outs, Because I think I would
(07:29):
have put Kyrie. I think Dwight Howard the goofiness, got
him out of that, you know what I mean, Like
he definitely impact.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Come on, I love Damian Lillard.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
When you have the conversation of who's taking last shot
for you, Damian Liller is pretty much over ninety eight
percent of NBA players ever for me last shot and
all that good stuff, all star. But when you start
talking about I mean, Dwight Howard was what four time
MVP got a team to the finals. You know, had
a five year run where you were like, yo, he's
the first Lebron on them if you remember that was
(07:59):
Lebron Kobe was supposed to be me nine. Yeah, he
was the best player, the top three best player for.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
A few years.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Even you know, if you were like Lebron Kobe, you
Dwight was right there, three or four MVP candidate. I mean, yeah,
there were a handful of people that were like, all right,
if Dame made it, now, who would you? Cracked me up?
By the way, this is a sidebar. Klay Thompson had
to relax, right, he was. I believe I didn't make
Clay all right.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
And here's the other thing too, uh mellow. Never a
first team never never. He was second team twice, Thirdeam
four times. He did win one scoring title, which is great,
ten time All Star. That's fine, but that's the missing element.
You know, didn't win any MVP, didn't. I just the
(08:47):
scoring championship one year.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
So I'm there. I'm gonna say that.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Here's my here's my I think you'll appreciate this. There's
a difference between Hall of Fame talent and Hall of
Fame career. And I think Carmelo Anthony absolutely is a
Hall of Fame talent. But by the hair of my
chinny chin chin, he didn't get in. If we're going
just NBA, not college in Olympics. And I'll give you
(09:13):
one of my metrics that I made years ago. I said,
all great players in the NBA, you know one thing, great, great, great.
We're talking greats, right, not really good great. One thing
they all had in common for me, Robin, I was
almost made it like you have to do this to me,
is at least make it to the finals. Start naming players.
(09:34):
Not even the great Jordan All that's those Kobe Corinoss,
Reggie Miller made it to the finals. Chris Paul as
much as me, he finally made it to the finals.
The only person I was like that we've deemed is
like had an amazing made it to the finals. Steve
Nash was the only one that didn't make it to
the finals. Of people we deem as, Jason Kidd made
(09:55):
to the finals a few times twice lost.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
But to do it between and even got those MVPs.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
He's got back to back end. It's hard to dig
one hundred percent to be the best player or at
least voted the best two years in a row. Kobe,
those are the years. Yeah, yeah, I mean it says
a lot.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
So for me.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
The reason why Carmelo just barely doesn't make it for
me is because I need to lean on something else,
so I need to go.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Okay, at least he's got a couple MVPs. He doesn't well.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
At least he went to a couple of finals appearances
like a stock to he doesn't well. At least, you know,
he was a four time scoring champ only once.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
They that's sixth time first team He wasn't six times
all NBA, but never or five of them were thirdeam
four four of them and into two second team. So
I need something that I can go to bat for
you with. Now, if I'm in the barbershop yours in
Detroit and where Gory cuts on Scort, he cuts on
(10:56):
seven miles, seven mile, beall out anyway?
Speaker 2 (10:58):
What seven mile? Yes?
Speaker 4 (11:00):
And I can quote my whole in law, the whole
family right with six mile. The Yeah, we'll talk about
it later on the west side off the laws. Oh yeah,
right right there, man, man, And I'll hit there and
then I'll continue. I'll go to the mall right there. Anyway,
the old mall is not there. It ain't there.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
You know that was the first mall ever northn United States.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Did you know that?
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Yes, it's like that was there.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
That was the first mall in the United States and
now it's no longer there. But anyway, that's to think.
I just my hole to put a button on it
for me real quick.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
I at least if I was in Sporty Cuts west
side of Detroit and I said no, no, no, I
needed Ammo from Mellow to at least make me say this,
he could do this Now, if we're talking the best
three scores of my twenty five year old, he's in that.
You know that, Kobe KD. Mellow, Go get me a bucket,
(11:48):
he's that. But Hall of Fame he just misses out.
I needed one more piece.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
I know a lot of people want to get on
on this eight seven, seven ninety nine on five, they're
gonna be seven nine nine, six sixty three sixty nine
not off in the odd couple or agree.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
I'm about to say. I actually can't believe I'm sitting
up here agreeing with you.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
It was wrong, But both of us just don't think
that Carmelo would have made it in just off of
his NBA career, the Olympics and his college. Obviously, he
deserves to be in the Basketball Hall of Fame without question.
Where are you if there was an NBA Hall of
Fame with Carmelo? Get your vote, yay or nay? It
is the odd Couple. On a funky Flashback Friday, Rob

Speaker 4 (13:06):
I remember I feel love to love you, baby man.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
As a little boy.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Who found his mama's tape one day, I felt uncomfortable.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Is he in the Hall of Fame? Strictly off the NBA?
Speaker 2 (14:00):
No resume? Yeah? What do you make it end? What
do you think? Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
Who we got? All right?
Speaker 4 (14:06):
Chris in Syracuse? You on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
What's up? Chris?
Speaker 6 (14:11):
Oh? Guys, great show. Always he always brings something out
that catches my interest.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Thank you, man, I appreciate you. Chris.
Speaker 6 (14:18):
I gotta say definitely yes. And of course you're gonna
say that's because I'm from Syracuse. And of course that
great year, phenomenal, What a great team he was the
cherry Man, he was phenomenal. I have his poster in
my studio. I just big Carmelo fan. But here's my breason.
Why in the NBA, you guys always talk about two
(14:38):
three guys, you need two three great guys on teams
to get there. When did he even even have a
second great guy on a team? And The second thing
is when did he have a great coach when he
was in the NBA. I can't even remember half the
people that were the coach.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Phil Jackson.
Speaker 7 (14:55):
Well, yeah, in New York.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
Phil, Chris and New York Son. But he also had
Chauncey Billups on that team, wasn't he He had Alan
Iverson on his team one too.
Speaker 8 (15:04):
Yeah, where in New Yorker.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Denver and they got to the Western Conference finals because
Chauncey left for Detroit going to then Denver.
Speaker 6 (15:13):
I always so bad that he left Denver too early.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
I'll be that's a fair point. That's a fair point.
He talked about that before. Thanks man, We appreciate you.
Appreciate you breaking down some more.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
I bet Chris Dion and Texas A lot of people
want to get in on there. Who else we got,
yeah Dion?
Speaker 7 (15:29):
Yeah, we heard enough from Chris.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Okay, I know he's a Syracuse guy.
Speaker 7 (15:33):
We got yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we're good, all right.
Basketball Hall of Fame, Yes, absolutely definitely, NBA Hall of Fame. Hey,
that is debatable.
Speaker 9 (15:40):
We shouldn't have a debate.
Speaker 7 (15:41):
And let me cook for a second. And Lieberman said
it yesterday. Awesome interview by the way. See, look what
Davia Stern did to the NBA because he invested internationally.
We got all these different plans, styles, all these great players.
What Adam Silver could really grace us with besides getting fired?
He needs to dog on create an NBA Hall of Fame,
And it kind of depends on who they put in
the Hall of Fame and what the criteria is. Because man,
(16:03):
much as I love Camelo, he'll give you a bucket.
I do agree with without a doubt, But man, is
he really has he done enough? Is there enough on
the resume? Did he check enough blocks?
Speaker 4 (16:13):
You know?
Speaker 7 (16:13):
The leged leading scoring once and to me, I think
he like took he had a chance to join if
I'm not mistaken the guy Chicago, Dereck Rose, which probably
wouldn't last very long, but they maybe could have won
something there had he gone there as a free agent.
So he chose money over winning as it was what
I recalled. And yeah, man, great player, I love him,
but it's the better if he's an NBA Hall of Famer.
(16:35):
If it's just based off of what he's done in
the NBA, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
That's what Rob and I are talking about. Just how
long you's got to stutter and thinking.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Somebody texted, No, I wrote this story for ESPN dot
com looking.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
At you see two thousand and five, ready for the
NBA Hall of Fame.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
You've been calling for seven years? Yes, for twenty years.
The story I just pulled up.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Just googled it.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
Yep, google it, Google Google Shanning in Delaware. No, you
already had a couple of Fox Sports Radio what's up?
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Shotting?
Speaker 9 (17:10):
Hey, what's up? What's up? Rob love the show?
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Yeah, I appreciate it.
Speaker 9 (17:16):
Yeah, Yeah, should definitely be in the Hall of Fame. Uh,
you know ten All Star games. Also feel like you
know he he will be played by you know, getting
drafted the same year as Lebron, which I think you
should have won. To look at the year by the way,
fair point. And also you know the drafting, you know
him beginning drafted you should have went to the Pistons
(17:38):
forever played him. And yeah, he's definitely hard famer.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
You know, I'm always I'm THANKSU for that. I always wonder, like,
you know, Larry Brown, what do you fit in? And
I'm not trying to say come that team was defensive war.
If you didn't play defense, you didn't play for Larry Brown.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
I think he would have because he'd have fallen in love.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Do you know what I mean? They ain't play round.
We talked about the other day. Ten games, eleven games
of holding people under study under seventy that was live Brown.
They didn't play and if you didn't play defense, you
came out. Even guys coming off the bench. You better
dig in. Eric in Texas, you're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
What's up? Eat?
Speaker 7 (18:12):
What's up? Rose?
Speaker 9 (18:13):
Kevin?
Speaker 4 (18:13):
How you guys do it great on this fucky flashback Friday.
Speaker 10 (18:17):
Yes, Sir Alison, he's deeping the crazy right now. Look,
I'm gonna say this. I feel like, if we're going
off with this NBA Hall of Fame standards, if guys
like Tracy McGrady who never won a playoff series, guys
like Vin's Car.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
But he's in the basketball and that's what you got,
you gotta be careful.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
I know I'm with you on that.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
And I don't think Tracy McGrady in the NBA Vic
Carter like, I.
Speaker 10 (18:39):
Don't think Vic Carr is the Hall of Famer me personally,
I don't think the car.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
I'm with you too. I'm with there's a lot of
Hall of very good.
Speaker 7 (18:47):
I think Carmelo Anthony.
Speaker 10 (18:48):
I think Carmelo was such a prolimpic scorer, like and
the first call was tripping because I mean he definitely
had a good coach and George carl Like Carmelo had opportunities.
But at the same time, like you're only gonna do
so much in thirst situations, right, Like no, we're not.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
Saying you gotta win, but he's got only he was
never first team, he would have.
Speaker 10 (19:07):
Made the finals, Like yeah, it's like yeah, like Kelvin,
I hear what you say it. But I think Carmelo, man,
he had a prolific career, like he averaged twenty three
for his career, Like I can't not get it.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
No, no, I told you if Hall of Bucket Getter
went out of doubt. He is one of the first
people in the Hall of Bucket Getters. But my one
of my metrics had always been if you're that great,
because it's only five people at the time of the NBA,
usually you can leave your Patrick Ewing never won, but
guess where he got to the finals?
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Robertson, he got twice. King Final.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
You name somebody great, go ahead, he I.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Bet that you think of a great finals, Rogie Melo finals,
and so I'm like, man for Melo to have never
made it to a final, that this kind of wild
because just about anybody we think of just about I'm
not saying.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
All all right, we're gonna talk to Jabbari in Michigan,
but hey, we're gonna take more phone calls eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox after Steve's update.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
So get ready.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
If you want to get in on this and you
have a take on it, this is your opportunity. We're
going to do overtime, a little extra calls on the Carmelo.
We knew people would be interested. But Jabbari in Michigan,
you're on the eye. Couple five Sports Radio, what's up?
Speaker 11 (20:12):
Hey, what's up?
Speaker 7 (20:13):
Guys?
Speaker 11 (20:13):
How's it going with y'all?
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Doing great?
Speaker 7 (20:15):
Doing good?
Speaker 11 (20:16):
Doing good as well? You know all my so far,
my Detroit teams has been winning as of late.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
So I.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
And it was what seven to one blackjack flowery pitch.
Speaker 11 (20:27):
Today exactly, Redveren's winning and the Pistons winning.
Speaker 12 (20:30):
Well, yeah, it's all good.
Speaker 11 (20:31):
But anyway, yeah, yeah, so to me, I'm not gonna
lie to you right now, like I think that he is,
that he should be in the NBA Hall of Fame,
And I wasn't even I wasn't really thinking about the
Olympic on medals.
Speaker 9 (20:44):
Us.
Speaker 11 (20:44):
Here's the reason why, because when you look at a
guy like Carmel Anton, he actually never been to the finals,
but he is still ten time All Star, six times
All NBA player, and he's top ten in scoring Top ten.
Speaker 13 (20:59):
Only ten players have ever scored twenty eight plus points
or more in NBA history, so forever, no matter what happens,
that's what it's gonna be there and like and just
like in baseball or like any other else, you will
look at that, you would look at saying, if you
get to this number right here, you make it and
there listen, and we understand that it's different than how
(21:19):
baseball and football looks. But I mean, he's he's one
of the greatest players to never reach the finals and
he will still be able to be a ten time
All Star and a six time All NBA player. Like
to me, I just can't see how you can take
how you cannot put somebody in the Hall of Fame
when someone has that as that even though they didn't
win a championship or didn't go to the finals.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
No, you listen, you make a great case.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
And I told you.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
For me, it was very I said, it's close like
a hair and my chinny chin chin, because he was
just so prolific, one of the best players for years.
But I often then turned to well, shoot, if you're
that great, you should be able to dictate things, win
it all.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
And then the other thing I think that hurt him
is when he didn't accept his role and was out
of the was out of basketball for a couple of years.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
Yeah, that was weird because because really that I have
an issue with that, not just him, but you.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Know what I mean, nobody want, nobody want him for
a few years. Yeah, NBA gets weird.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
My eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox will take
more of your phone calls. Does Carmelo Anthony be belong
in the Hall of Fame if there was just an
NBA Hall of Fame off of his NBA career, not college,
not the Olympics.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
All right, we're looking forward to that.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
Coming to you line for the tire wreck dot Com Studios,
It's the Odd Couple. Robin Kelvin on a Funky Flashback
Fridays we'll take a couple more calls again, We'll just
have a conversation. Mellow is an incredible player, makes the
Hall of Fame, Basketball Hall of Fame we're talking about
it's just NBA. That's a layup the basketball, without a doubt,
without a doubt, just looking at his NBA career, How
do you feel about it? A seven, seven ninety nine
(22:54):
on Fox Hall of Famer or not? Just based off
of his NBA, not Olympic or college.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
Who we got Drew in New Jersey? You're on the
eye couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Drew?
Speaker 14 (23:05):
Hey, guys, I think he's a Hall of Famer Nodell.
And when we say like players like Reggie Miller went
to the finals, we don't give out participation trophies. Here
does nothing for me unless you win. And he didn't win.
And if you want to say we're gonna put Draymond
Green in the Hall of Fame, who's a role player,
mister tripple triple thing, he's.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
Gonna go in the Hall of Fame. I don't know
how you you think he's not. He's on a team
that won four championships.
Speaker 14 (23:31):
Have you heard every other every other sports commentator say, yeah,
he's a shoeing. I disagree.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
He is a shoe a shoeing of the Basketball Hall
of Fame.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
Where Tracy McGrady, who couldn't get in the second round,
he's not gonna make the Hall of Fame?
Speaker 9 (23:44):
Drew he do you think.
Speaker 7 (23:46):
That he should be a Hall of Famer?
Speaker 14 (23:47):
I don't, And he doesn't have and if you say
basketball team, he's not known for anything he did in college.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Yeah no, But I'm just saying that he's going we.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
Just get I just gave you Tracy McGrady and who
didn't win any it didn't even get to the second
round of his career.
Speaker 14 (24:02):
Why isn't Ron Harper in the Hall of Fame?
Speaker 2 (24:04):
That's a good question.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
But he can make.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
This is the NBA needs its own Hall of Fame.
Speaker 14 (24:08):
It's the reason Ron Harper has like six or five
hit because he is more than he does.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Wait wait, hold on, hold on, while Ron, how many
that that math? Let me do the math? Bulls he
had get how many with the Lakers? He got one too?
Do the math on that. However, However, I think, yeah,
here's my here's my heroes.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
Where I would I would argue with you a little
bit on the Ron Harper, And I think Ron Harper
was a heck of a player, So I'm not like
saying he's whack.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
He was really good. Obviously he was All Star with Clippers.
He was all Star.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
But when he got to the Bulls, he was much
more of a shell of himself than what Draymond was
obviously for the Warriors.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
So Ron Harper won five and I'll give him credit.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
He was a first team on the Rookie First U,
All NBT and All NBA Rookie team.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
But he didn't win uh, any kind of major awards
or anything.
Speaker 4 (24:59):
So any average seas of who's in there, Yeah, I
just uh, well, the Tracy McGrady opens up a lot.
It's like the Scott Rowling for the Phillies. Who got
who got in in baseball? A lot of people, I know,
because I might go against everything I just said about Carmelo.
All right, Uh, Dustin in Arkansas, you're on the odd
(25:20):
couple of Fox Sports Radio. Oh it's three nothing, Phillies
in the seven. The bullpen has collapsed. Yes, what's up?
Speaker 2 (25:27):
How are you? Dustin?
Speaker 8 (25:28):
I'm good, Thanks for taking the call. I'm always gonna
just like Carmelo because he ruined Lynn Sanity in New York.
He could have had something good there, but he had
to whine and out and complain when he got back
on the team. They could have won something good with
Lynn Sanity and Carmelo working together.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
That was the thing. Yep, Oh, that was insanity. Was
good for a couple of weeks. A couple of weeks.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
He did make two covers of Sports Illustrated in like
three weeks too.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
It was wild, which is ridiculous. Wild. That was a thing.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
No, but the people editorial they were just trying to
so bad. Oh yeah, there's no way. It used to
be an honor to make the cover of Sports Illustrats.
What you're trying to say? It ain't that way no more.
I mean, come on, Leo on Long Island. You're on
the couple of Fox Sport Sports Radio Kelvin. You know
why they call it Long Island? Why because it's long.
If you look at it on the map, let me
(26:16):
hear the accents. Yeah, go ahead, Leo gets some corfee.
Speaker 14 (26:22):
Guys.
Speaker 12 (26:23):
Yes, Grit show.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
Wait a minute, Holland, what are you doing all long?
I thought you were in New York all the time.
I'm Brooklyn.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Where are you?
Speaker 12 (26:31):
No, I mean the city, but you know, you know,
callis Long Island.
Speaker 7 (26:35):
My mom.
Speaker 12 (26:36):
This year we're on Long Island.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Where where Okay, and New York is weird? We say,
not in Long Island.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
It's on Long Island.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
Yes's on Long Island.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
Not in Long All right, go ahead, Leo, all.
Speaker 12 (26:52):
Right, okay, great Prince. But you know, I feel like,
all off the corners, you didn't mention one thing. Menu
is top siventy times, Like how the player who's one
of the best seven size players in the history of
the of the league cannot make that you know, Hall
of Fame that you get talking about, because first of all,
(27:14):
I'm going to need to know the criterias for that,
you know, fictional hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
There were, but there is. The criteria is up to the.
Speaker 4 (27:23):
Voters, it really is. Even in the Baseball Hall of Fame,
which I vote on.
Speaker 12 (27:28):
You know, they talk about it, right, but right, extain
to me how a top seventy five player in the
history of the league does it make the Hall of
Fame because that would be his trump card right there.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
That's that is I will give you that.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
That's the one trump to me the biggest if you know,
he had his defense lawyer in here and and said,
that's to me the biggest thing. Well, like, and I'll
give you that, which is why I told you it's Yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:51):
But when you look at to me the body of work,
and you could do that whatever you want. I'll look
and see how many guys when the time Damian Lillo
did whin You know, I Choles Barkley's different. He got
one of the m v P like I don't. I'm
looking at that. That's what's different about arguably third fourth
best power forward. Do you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2 (28:13):
Say Tim? Some people say him.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Next Tim is Tim probably is number Yeah, so Tim
is a free throw away from being six and on
the finals.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
No, that's what you ain't got to convince me. People.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
Here's the most How is he he's one? He's another
one of those How did he kill us? He looking
at his numbers, You're like, but he just made the
right play at the right time to block the rebound.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
I'm telling you so annoying he was. He was annoyingly good.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
Like gosh, Tim duncan again keep doing it. But yeah,
this I told just one was hard for me.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
We've had a lot of conversations where we're like, because
I was a mellow fan like Melos Musty TV, he's
all bet Wood playing it like the Nicks. I'll get
I can see mellow, But there was something left to
be desired, Like what else is he locking down defensively?
Speaker 9 (28:54):
No?
Speaker 2 (28:54):
Is he rebounding like crazy?
Speaker 9 (28:56):
No?
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Is it? You know he's dropping dimes? No, he's like.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
That one was a hard one for me, Rob, like Anadi.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
He could be the Hall of very good. There's a
lot of really good players who just are just a
smidge on. I'm not happy.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
That was a tough one.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
Then you keep bringing up t Mac and that's another
one of my But that's for the Basketball Hall of Fame.
That's not this wi We came up with the NBA
Hall of Fame, all right, making me feel bad about
TMAC too.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Travis Hunter had a pro day he and schdor Sanders
uh and he did it as a wide receiver. What
was the response and what would you do if you're
want of the teams who could possibly draft to him?
We'll talk about it. It's Rob Calvin a couple of
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
Like I'm watching Soul Train right now.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Hey get it, Rob, do it. Man, he goes crazy
on this. In the video for this, you go trazy
so good saying some good uh samples in the hip
hop with this one.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
It's been nice think.
Speaker 4 (30:10):
Job.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
Yeah, you're in your bag right now.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
In this funky flashback Fridays, the eye couple Rob and Kelvin.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Coming in the brown bag from IRAQ.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Dot com Studios called the Chaos with the shipping software
that delivers use code Sports for a free trial at
shipstation dot com. That is ship station dot com and
the code is sports. We were talking about a little bit.
We've had this conversation, you know, as Travis Hunter is
just heisman campaign was spectacular to watch both sides of
(30:41):
the ball. We just had his pro day today and
Schuder Sanders was his quarterback, which obviously does makes sense.
He also was throwing the ball and man, the scouts
and all the talking heads who were there are raving
about it. Rob saying he was he looked fantastic and
what was cool. What was dope about it was that
(31:01):
he did it without gloves. And if you've ever touched
wide receiver gloves nowadays, I mean it's glue.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
That's why.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
That's why you know Odell Beckham Junior's catch doesn't finger
catch it, but it doesn't resonate anymore because I when
when I first caught it, I was when I first
saw it. I remember saying that was the greatest catch
I saw and I didn't realize yeah, because I saw
who was it. Sports Illustrated did a thing when they
(31:29):
went out with some kids, high school kids, and they
gave them they were throwing the ball around with no gloves,
couldn't catch a lick, and then gave me the glove.
They caught everything, and then I was like, Okay, it's
just a glove. And so imagine on one of the
biggest days of your young football career, Travis Hunter, and
you go out there in front of everybody, rob everybody
(31:50):
with no gloves on to catch, to show them like, no,
I really do this and didn't drop anything and looked
fantastic and everybody was raving.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
So he's just special.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
And I was listening to some of the people you know,
the big time former gms and scouts and execs, and
they one of the things they were saying, look, man
Lewis Reddick said, I played with Chuck Woods and I
played I was around Champ Bailey, some of the best
corners of all time, Hall of Famers, and he's like,
he just moves different, you know, and he's just an athlete.
The guys who played both sides of the ball. You know,
(32:19):
Charles Woodson play law offense obviously, and it was a
great defensive back turn safety.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
They're like, he moves different.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
Hey, when I'm up close to him now, they were like,
I finally getting to be around him, and like they're like, oh,
like this is different. And so if you and I
had the same conversation, I'm taking him and I'm absolutely
using him as a special special talent, like the guy
up to bat right now that screen right there, show
hill Top.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
I would I would have given him an opportunity to
do it. There's not everybody. It's not for everybody got
to be they got to be ten years for it, right,
And I would give him a shot and just see
if he could do it. And if I got to
the point where I'm getting half a player on both sides,
then then I'm not doing it. But if I'm getting
production on both sides, and I really think he's playing
(33:04):
at a high level as a young guy. If you're
ever gonna do what is now while you're young, you
can't do it for ten years.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
I get that.
Speaker 4 (33:11):
Show, Hey, one day is going to decide he's not
going to pitch and I'll just be a hit or
every I'm for sure.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Yeah, of course, of course course, And it won't be
too much longer because he already put thirty thirty thirty
thirty one. Yeah, so it is. Yeah, he's not gonna
be doing this, he referred to show. Hey, you know
he's gonna be pitching until he's thirty seven.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
But back to.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
Travis, Yeah, man, I want to just play.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
I want to.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
I want to try this. I'm gonna be innovative and
like I said, I want to. If I'm the NFL,
I want him to do this right. NFL's boheman. So
it's not as if they need this from him. But
how cool is that? The campaign already see, I just
think it would be special. Yeah, it's must see.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
Why why Stemy a prodigy? Nowhere else in the world,
would you steymy a prodigy if they do something unique talent?
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Yeah, I haven't seen before. Yeah, at that level, we've
obviously seen it.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
You know, Dion did it.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
But there's a lot of guys who are who played
in college or baseball at some point, who were really
good hitters and pitchers. And they said they all they
were all that, and they decided still, now, we just
want you to focus in on pitching, on whatever.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
I mean.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
You can't do both. That's that's what happened. But old
Tani wasn't was enough for them to say, Okay, we're
gonna let you do this.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
And he proved that he can do it.
Speaker 4 (34:22):
And Travis has done it at every level.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
And they were, oh, no, he ain't gonna do it
in college, all right, but I was Jackson State, a
smaller HBCU.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
He ain't gonna do it at a big school of Colorado.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
All right.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Well, he ain't gonna do it all the time. He
did it, And to me, I want to give it.
You have a little fun with him and give him
some design up some plays. Now that the challenge is
some scouts and most of most of the league right now,
at least reportedly view him as a defensive back. Most
of them say, that's where he's gonna be. That's the
position you know he'll play. Maybe the possibility. The Browns
(34:54):
are saying, we like him and we like him as
a receiver. Reportedly like we gotta what the top three pick.
We're looking at him as and man, we need a receiver.
We need some help, we need some spark, we need
some offense. And they look at him like that. So
to me, I'm actually, I'm absolutely you ain't lying about that.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Is that where he's gonna go in number two? Is that?
Speaker 1 (35:14):
That's that's what saying they're looking at and they like
today helped you know where they're like, man, not only
is he catched them all, he was running his routes.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
No pure receiver, uh.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
And that was a lot of people wonder like, oh,
is he just is he more gifted than the other
guys who guard him in college versus, Oh, he's a
really good receiver. You know what I mean, You're just
you're just a better athlete than him. So are you
just proving that? And so people were, uh, it was
good to see his route running. Really look at that
because you're not paying attention to that college. You're just seeing,
Oh he just got pie him got then in zone.
That's interesting because you know what I mean, I know
your tape. You are who you are on your tape,
(35:47):
and it is good to see people though again and
not that he really needed to do it. He won
a Heisman just right. He really didn't have to have
a pro day.
Speaker 4 (35:56):
Nope, but he did it and actually people uh raved
about him, which is something that's good for him. And
we'll see where he winds up. So most people saying
the number two pick or no, he's still times.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Yep to to five because depending it's one of the
things is all right, well if we need a quarterback,
and then if they take this per if they don't
take cam War or if they don't take sha Door,
so it'll get a little a little crazy like that.
But he's not going, you know, further than fifth pick.
And what's been great about him. We heard about him.
I remember hearing about him coming out of high school,
no doubt, heard about him in college. And now he's
(36:28):
right here gonna be a top five pick. So it's
great to see him tracking all the way along.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
Don't forget I've been talking about it all show, and
here we go. You look at Pinky and the Brain.
Who are the.
Speaker 4 (36:37):
Top three college basketball players of all times? We're gonna
do that. I mean, that's a we didn't want to
do to Mount Rushmore. Only three players, that's not fair.
Rup That's going to be something I keep switching my
third pick. Who you got tune in?
