s R. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. You ready,
I'm ready? Can you do it? Let's continue with the theme.
Yesterday we did it for twenty eight seconds in honor
of Melvin Gordon returning only to find out he switched
Jersey numbers to twenty five. Today's show, we start with
(00:42):
seventeen seventeen seconds of all oh, yes, very nice, mister,
(01:05):
Jonas Knock seventeen seconds and yes, so long as I've
ever lasted. That's right. It's this thing on? That is
this Hello? Is this on? I'm a little moisture right now?
You get started already. It is The Odd Couple on
Fox Sports Radio. Rob Parker and Jonas Knocking. Come on.
(01:26):
We need Jonas on this show for today, no doubt
about it. He's subbing in for Chris Bussard. Chris, We'll
be back on the program tomorrow. On Friday. So remember that,
and we're coming to you live from the Geico Fox
Sports Radio studios. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent
of more on car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for
a free rate quote. Jonas, how are you? We're good?
(01:50):
You know there's that. We got Thursday night football coming up.
It's on Fox. We've got the Eagles and the Packers.
We've got all sorts of college football this weekend. It
is a fun time. The baseball playoffs if anybody's interested
in watching that stuff. The baseball playoffs are right around
the corner of Rob Park. Next week. Everything is gonna
be oh yeah, right, it'd be great because and this time,
and we'll get into a little baseball playoffs a little later.
(02:12):
But the teams, it's sloaded. Yeah, really a lot of
good teams that I'm interested in seeing. And can't she
feel the weather start to change a little, starting to
get a little a little bit of a bite in
the air. Now, keep in mind, Rob Parker could be
in the middle of Tibet in ninety five degree weather
with mosquitoes the size of volkswagens buzzing around him, and
(02:33):
he's got a sweater one because you're always cold in here.
It's freezing. I feel like I'm working at a butcher shop.
I don't say anything about careful. Sorry. Oh I was
gonna say it. I'm not gonna say it. O yea,
here's okay. This is the problem. Is that good when
(02:56):
we work together, we're just getting way too much trouble.
That's that's the problem. I wasn't going to do it.
And they change In the old days. Rob Parker would
have said that on the radio. And Elijah's here going, wow,
you don't believe what he just heard. Elijah just stepped
out for a cigarette. Yes, unbelievable. Yes, but what a show. Um.
(03:19):
Bruce Gradkowski from Pro Football Focus. We're gonna talk to
him later on in the show. Greg Jennings of course,
our favorite NFL Fox football analysts, and of course a
Super Bowl champion. We got trolling and rolling with Martin
Weiss that's coming up in the final hour of the program,
and the former champ right Ray Boom boom Mancini. Yes,
(03:42):
we'll talk about the Trench Junior and Porter fight that's
coming up in LA just coming Saturday. Great fight. Oh yeah,
So we got all that and much more but first,
let me welcome in the odd couple crew. Wouldn't be
able to do this find radio program without him? Well
problem maybe, but it wouldn't be as good. Gab is
our producer, Rob g of course still on paternity leave.
(04:04):
Alex is our engineer. He's rock solid. You know, he's
finally giving up Colin for us and he's here every
single day. I can't do it anymore. Ro can't do it,
can't do it, won't do it. You got bigger fish
to fry, you know it. Our sports anchor is David Gascon.
He'll keep us updated throughout the program. What are you
whipping on? I just it's enough enough gas Man for once. Man.
(04:25):
Just like, let me tell you someone we had identity
the other night with the Radio Royalty that you didn't
want to show up to. Oh yeah, so waiting for
that invite you invite? Yeah it was so good. We
could have stayed there for four more great. Yeah it
was good. Well yeah, I could have would have liked
you been invited, but you were invited. And of course
mica Ill in turn Elijah, as I just said, our
social media guru, they're all on the other side of
(04:48):
the glass. So on this TV theme song Thursday Jones.
Let's kick some ass, let's do it, and here we go.
All I'm gonna say one word greedy. Yeah, I was
gonna say dumb, but great. Yeah, would you say that works?
They're not happy with all the money they make that
the NFL, for whatever reason, they wanted an eighteen game schedule,
(05:11):
right the Union said no way, no, how on that.
So the NFL is like, oh, well, maybe we'll make
it seventeen to eliminate right, preseason games in their entirety. Yeah,
why do you think they want? All right, we'll eliminate
the preseason games and we just we got to get
another game? Is it? Is it? Because wait a minute,
we're trying to help and the safety of players by
(05:36):
not putting them in harm's way. So we're gonna take
them out of the preseason games and give them one
regular season game? Or is this all about money? Less
is more? And for some reason, people in sports, especially nowadays,
we've got to have more. We've got to have more cameras,
we've got to have more options, we've got to have
more channels, we've got to have more that like, people
(05:56):
are failing to realize that when NFL owners are proposing
this seventeen game schedule. They want, we want seventeen games instead,
we get it. They want more money. To your point,
it's greedy, but they're also failing to realize what makes
the NFL and college football so much better than the
other sports in this aspect. You may like the NBA better,
you may like Major League Baseball better, but this is
(06:17):
one thing you cannot dispute. Every game feels like a
big deal, every single one. You're in Miami and right
well for the other team, it is, you know what
I mean. But the point is, there are so few
games that it feels like a much bigger deal than
it really is. I ask yourself this, when there's a
big time college football game, don't the college football players
(06:39):
look more devastated after they lose the name? Well, because
they know too. And in college football, you lose a
game and done, You're done. That's it. Basically your season's over.
I mean, and when there's more on the lague, dress
it up and talk about all the other stuff, but
you know you've done. And when there's more on the line,
you get better action. You don't get load management like
you do in the NBA. I'll give you this. This
(07:00):
is the same reason, and this is the only reason.
It has nothing to do with college basketball. But the
tournament one and done heightens everything. It just does. It's
like the whole thing about I always say this, You
love ice cream, right, yeah, until you start working at
the ice cream fact, Yeah, you're over it. Then it's
like I'll get some tomorrow. You know. It's because it's
(07:22):
not the same thing when you can only get it.
It's it's it just changes everything. I worked to TGI
Fridays for like five and a half years. I was
a bus boy and there were some good stuff they
had on the menu. I'd i'd I'd rather eat a
sewer rat blind. I assume that it's corn on the
cob than go eat over there. And it has nothing
to do with their food. I'm just tired of it.
(07:42):
I had too much, too much, and the whole the
idea that the owners want seventeen games. I get it,
you want more money, but why don't we fix what
we've got before we add on more. And I'll say this,
if I'm the Union players Union, and I have zero
confidence in de Morris Smith and just the people over okay,
(08:03):
because zero because they don't know what they don't seem
to be uh know what they're doing, and they get
turned over like every labor negotiation basically. Okay, I mean
it's just ridiculous. Okay, that's you know, just you know,
(08:25):
that's all right, Listen. My point is, yeah, My point
is they always are on the losing end of it.
Played absolutely. And here's my thing. If we're even going
to discuss adding another game, we need a guaranteed contract.
That's that's the only way I would even entertain putting
(08:46):
the players in harm's way another get anything they would
have to be about. If you're not talking about a
guaranteed contract, don't talk to us about another adding another.
And here's the other thing. And it's just a simple
question of people listening to this right now, you're gonna
the immediate answer is going to be yes, I want
another regular season game. Understand though, that when you add more,
(09:06):
it takes away from the others, which means your interest
is going to wane each week because you feel like, wow,
we lost that one. Don't even worry about it. There's
another one around the corner. We've got makeup time here.
It's the same thing with the college football playoff for
everybody out there saying it's unfair only four teams get in.
We've got extended to eight. All right, Well, then what
you do is you make all those big time games
(09:27):
during the regular season or in the conference championship games
seemed that much less important because now you've got wiggle room.
You can afford to lose the game and get back
into the playoff. And I'll give you the other example.
We've seen it for the longest the NBA, because half
the league makes the playoffs. The regular season doesn't be crap,
It just does. It's not as important. I'm sorry. You
(09:49):
can sit here and oh you can't wait for that
October game or whatever, but you know, until we get
to April, right, that's one of all thoughts. Because you
eliminate half to teams. It's not like there's only four
NBA teams to make it the playoffs. They not have
to watch, would not Here's here's another one example for you.
If you had season tickets to either a Major League
(10:12):
Baseball team, an NBA team, or an NFL team, which
team are you more likely to go see every single time?
The NFL, because you only get eight of them and
In some cases you get less than eight because they're
traveling over to London to play in that stadium over there,
or to moon like Jacksonville. Yeah, and they've got a
(10:34):
tarp and a swimming pool in their top deck. I mean,
but honestly, when you realize that you only have a
small amount of something, you appreciate it more. And if
we're going to continue to extend things or add in more,
we're not going to appreciate it as more. I know.
The easy answer to this is we want more football.
We no stop understand what makes football great, understand what
(10:56):
makes college football great. You get it on a limited capacity.
You don't get multiple games a week. It's appointment television.
Was there a reason? What was that other league that
came out for a couple of weeks? And oh, right
after the Super People can't wait for football, that's all? No,
people said, No, I'm good. I want to see first
of all, top quality football, right, not just any football.
(11:19):
And number two, I'm fine when he when the Super
Bowl is over and I've watched the whole year and everything,
I'll take a break. Yeah, I'm ready to get into
the NBA even more. And then I'm ready for baseball
to start. I'm college basketball march madness. I'm okay, I
got plenty to watch. I don't need minor league or
lower level football. And people didn't buy it. That league
(11:40):
almost didn't make payroll the second week. Remember, yeah, of course,
I mean I can't remember the name of Let me
tell you something. Was that the crap Football League? I'm sorry, Yeah,
the DFL, the Diary of Football League. It was. You
want to know how bad off the AAF was, all right,
this is out bad off. The AF was. They had
to borrow money from an nhl L owner because they
couldn't make their rent. Okay, like when when your league,
(12:03):
when your boss is calling you up saying he would
you might not cash in that check until Tuesday after,
like six thirty. Anybody that's been through that nose, that's
the first signal that this whole thing's going down the
water in the boat and everybody's gonna drown. Well, when
they get paid, people race to the bank. You don't
want to be lest there might not be enough money
exactly yet they had to run to the bank, and
(12:26):
in fact, you use a diversionary tactle. Okay, hey man,
someone's breaking into your car and then you run into
years to go get to the bank. I just think, look,
if you are a fan of how the NFL is
in college football is because it's appointment television, because you've
got it, every game matters and every game counts. If
you're a fan of that, you should absolutely not want
(12:46):
more games in the NFL. Absolutely not keep it the
way that it is. It's it's fine the way that
it is. Just to improve what you got, if that
means officiating, if that means a television experience, because the
end game experience, that's fine. We don't need more of
something that's still not a perfect, a perfect at all
at this point. Anyways, it's no doubt about it, all right.
It is the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. We
(13:08):
want to hear from you eight eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven, seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine, we want to hear from you, jump in.
Do you want more football regular season games? Do you
understand why the league wants seventeen? The Union is saying no,
they already turned down eighteen. Are you in or out
on this? More pro football? So? Jonas and I are
(13:32):
on lockstep. We want to hear from you on this
new schedule and what the players should do. So what
chime in? It is the Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Yes,
on a TV Theme Song Thursday, Stick and Stay America.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
(13:52):
Eastern four pm Pacific. Yes, it's the Odd Couple on
a TV Theme Song Thursday. And I want you to
know I have secured my flight to Miami for the
Golden Girls Clues cruise coming up in February. I will
be there. God, what it's gonna be great? Watch you
(14:14):
see next year Jonason want to go when he sees
the pictures and see all the you know, all the
uh spring chickens on the on the boat, I mean
at Yes, there's a first of all, that's a lie.
Why didn't you get a bunch of DVD sent to
you too? Yes, it was like the complete set. Yeah,
the cocoon. All right, great news. There's a quick way,
(14:41):
an easy way that you could save money. Switched to geicode.
It only takes fifteen minutes to see if you could
save fifteen percent of more in car insurance. Go to
Geico dot com and see how much money you could save.
All right, it's a Jonas Knox in for Chris Bussar,
Rob Parker, odd couple. I'll number eight, seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox seventeen games. Yeah, and before we get
(15:04):
to the cause, I have a question for you, um,
where where where's the lever on that thing? The lever
on that thing? Because they just showed uh lambeau Field
on on Fox the overhead shot. I was just wondering
where the lever on that toilet? Was that right? Spoken
like a true Chicago barrass talk about outdated stadiums? Did
(15:27):
um and that spaceship that they have in Chicago? Whatever?
That's an embarrassed that's okay. What they do with that,
I don't know. I think they ruined Soldier Field like
they ruined somebody got drunk. One of the one of
the contractors watched ET and said, you know what, that's
a damn good idea. Let's go that there. All right,
let's kick it off with Max and Georgia. You're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Max? Hey, guys,
(15:50):
happy to talk with you. My concern with the seventeen
game season, you know would be Um, I just worried,
like we already got Thursday night, Sunday, Sunday night day night.
Like you guys sort of said about losing its luster,
losing its sizzle. Um, it's starting to kind of look
like the other network for Christ's sake, with their with
their deal with the UFC. It's like it's just too much.
(16:10):
But with the players health wise, I'd be concerned about
their bodies. These guys aren't getting hitting drills and OTAs,
they're not getting enough time to get acclimated. The season
starts and it's just like the brutality comes out of nowhere,
and the level of competition, in my opinion, just as
down this year. Well you can look there's a lot
of bad teams. Yeah, the NFL right now that there's
so many bad teams, thanks for the calling. Look, it
(16:33):
comes down. It doesn't make sense in any way, shape
or form other than in one area. And what you
open up with greed, that's all it is. They just
the difference between preseason money from local games, remember their
local games compared to another game to offer the networks, right,
it's huge money wise, the number of games where it's
(16:54):
at right now, is fine? It's fine. There are other
things that you can improve outside of they'd love to
add another game on. How about better games? How about
better quality games? How about better schedule. I mean, there's
different things you can do to add to it. You
don't just need to you know, throw more another one
on the back end and say, oh, here you go.
This is no fix what you have in place now,
(17:15):
and you're gonna be fine, no doubt about it. Hey,
Josh and Orlando, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What you got Josh? Hey, I mean, I
like where it is right now. But I think there's
probably two arguments, Like, if they add on the seventieth game, Um,
it would actually be less football if they take away
(17:38):
some of the preseason. But the argument to that would be, um,
cause you hear a lot of better guys say that
the preseason is important to that's kind of how they
got their their start. So you know, if they take
away preseason and then add the seventy game, one, I'm
not really for that. But if they add the seventieth
game and possibly you know, take away like two pre
(18:00):
seven James, I'm won't playing with that. Yo, your opinions. Yeah,
I think preseason, and we've seen it. A preseason is
important to a certain extent, and I know people are
pooh pooing it. It is the Only problem is guys
are coming out and getting hurt and the play looks
shoddy because they haven't taken any reps. And I think
it's a mistake when you haven't played. Remember there's only
(18:21):
a four month window of playing, So you go four months,
you play, then you don't play for eight months, and
then you're supposed to just play again. You know this
coming up in the business, you look, they can anybody
can tell you. This is what it's like to host
a show. This is what it's like to write a column.
This is what it's like to cover a team. You know,
when you really learn when you get thrown in there
and you got to figure it out on your own,
no doubt. And you ask any coach in the NFL,
(18:42):
they'll tell you this to a man, Look, you get
rid of the preseason, we got a problem. If you
already think some of the play is sloppy in the NFL,
you don't want to see what it's gonna look like
when these guys don't have actual game reps, and we
throw them in there when they're not ready, no doubt
about it. What about the truck driver, Don and Boston
on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio, let's hear
that horn? There we go, my man? How are you? Don? Good? Rob?
(19:09):
How are you doing? But doing great? Good? Don? What's up? Man? Hey?
How you doing? But I listen to both of you
all the time, so appreciate. I'm a I'm a junkie.
Let's good. I call it. You know, I only called
a bus your job. I think we need two Super
Bowls a year. So Brady would have twelve ranks if
(19:35):
you hey, you know what, Hey, Don? And baseball, they
used to have two All Star Games. And people know
that they used to play it. Actually you know that.
But they used to play two All Star Games. Why.
I think they played a National League and you know,
in the National League city. And yeah, it was it
was dumb. Yeah, absolutely not not a good idea. All
(19:57):
Star is a bad game anyway. And so and you
want another game, you want seventeen or sixteen? Good enough
for you? No, No, Sixteen's plenty, Yes, sixteen is sixteen
is a good season. Um, the playoffs are just right.
I mean, you know they're right now. The problem, well,
they're losing customers, and my personal opinion, I think payroll
(20:19):
is the biggest reason. I think too many guys for protesting,
not enough millions. And I'm not blaming the guys. I
you know, I don't blame the players at all, but
I don't think it relates to guys like me. You know,
every day Joe's that, you know, go out and work
twelve hours a day. I get I mean, yeah, I
get it, but it's hard to h to use that
(20:40):
as a comparison to a regular Joe and a guy
who's who's who's an elite athlete. And there's only twelve
hundred old jobs compared to three hundred and thirty million people.
They're very special. Look, if you've got season again, if
you've got season tickets to the NFL, Major League Baseball
in the NBA, which season tickets are you less willing
to get up to somebody because you don't want to
(21:01):
go to the game NFL because there's only eight that's
what makes it special, no doubt. Let's squeeze one more.
In Ben in Kentucky, you're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. Ben what you got, Hey, guys, I
want to say, as I am in Kentucky, yes, but
I'm a Chicago born native, and uh, you know, without
the preseason, you know, Chicago and a lot of these
(21:23):
other teams wouldn't have developed the rosters that they've got
right now during that real essential era that they needed.
You know, I think that the NFL needs the preseason
games two. I think that maybe not for but they
definitely need to practice. And what they do in college
football is they sketch scheduled cupcakes the first month of
(21:45):
the right. Normally you don't play anybody, and that's your preseason,
to be honest, and if you lose one of them,
shame on you. But you're usually scheduled guys who are bad.
It's why Look, give give credit where credit is due. Oregon,
they took a shot man. They played Aburn week one
of the college football season. Good for them. Guess what happened.
Their season's over exactly. They're not winning anything this year
because they lost that game to Auburn. All right, Coming
(22:08):
up next, Bruce greg Kowski from a Pro Football Focus.
He's gonna talk to us about some NFL topics. He's
also with Serious XM NFL analysts. We'll do that and
much more. But first, Fox Sports Radio has the best
sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our
shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com and within the
(22:29):
iHeart Radio app. Search f SR to listen live to
see a couple of Fox Sports Radio Rob Parker and
Jonas Knox in for Chris Boussard. We're coming to you
live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's easy
to say fifteen percent of more on carn shorts with Geico.
Go to Geico dot com or call eight hundred and
nine four seven auto. The only hard part is figuring
(22:51):
out which way is easier. All right, ready to do this? Yes,
Now we're gonna welcome in our guests, Bruce Bruce Gregkowski
from Pro Football Focus and Serious XM. He's an NFL analyst. Bruce,
what's happening? How you doing? Hey? Rob? I'm doing good.
Thanks for having me on. What's up? Bruce? It's Jonas
hey man, Sorry about the hold. Gavin, our producer screwed
(23:13):
things up in the back. It's all it's all good.
It's all good, no doubt. Hey, Hey, Bruce, I just
want to start uh, Jonas and I were talking that
we're talking to some listeners about the NFL warning of
seventeenth game. I call it greed. I don't understand why
the hell been on this? They wanted eighteen. Where are
(23:35):
you on this? Do we need another game? You know?
I don't think we need another game. I like it
how it is. Well at the end of the day,
man Like I was just talking about how, you know,
being done playing, you missed the game, and you're on
the outside looking in, and you get lonely at times,
and you miss that locker rooms, miss the camaraderie, the
(23:56):
game plan and all that. And we all go through this,
ex athletes and NFL players, and you can't forget that.
At the end of the day, we're just products, you know,
and people are gonna come and go. Look when Peyton
Manning retired, you know, they kick off the next season.
Look when Andrew Luck retires, they kick off on Sunday.
Like the game will never stop, It'll keep playing. So
(24:19):
the owners are going to continue try to get as
much as they can out of players while they have them,
while the game's going on. So at the end of
the day, I mean, if you play seventeen games. Hey,
that's that's all good and great. I don't think that
that'll ruin things. I mean, it's still enough games to
be fun and anticipate and each week mean a lot.
(24:43):
But then on the front end, they'll play eliminate a
preseason game or two, so they'll just have to make
it worthwhile for the players as well. But I don't
think it's a bad thing. Look, I love them football
seasons here and to cover it and be a part
of it. But it also at the end of the
day too, NFL is going to try to do the
best they can for the whole game at general because
it's so popular. Bruce Grancowski Pro Football Focus, NFL analysts,
(25:08):
former NFL cornerback, joining us here on Fox Sports Radio
Rob Parker Jonas Knox in for Chris Brussard here on FSR. Bruce,
We've got, obviously the Thursday night game kicking off in
less than an hour. It's the Packers hosting the Eagles.
There's been a lot of conversation about the Packers offense.
How concerned are you or in looking at Aaron Rodgers
and that offense. What have you seen that is a miss?
(25:30):
Right now? With this offense you know, I'm not concerned
right now. I mean, Jonas, I think you know the
teams are getting Look it's week four, so you're wrapping
up the first quarter of the season. Anytime you can
start the first quarter of the season and you look
at Green Bay right now, three you know, I mean,
if you could finish three and one or four and
(25:50):
in the first quarter, you're doing outstanding. Because teams are
trying to still find their identity and see what they're
going to become as a football team in two thousand
and nine team. So anytime you could squeak games out
win some football games early in the season, man, that
just helps tremendous on the back end. So for the
for the for green Bay, they just they have the
(26:12):
whole package right now. I mean, they have a defense
that's playing well. They have people and guys that they're
trying to surround Rogers and not put so much on
his plate and his shoulders, and just watch how him
and la Flora will will slowly come together as this
season goes on. They'll feel each other out and know
what each other like. Lights out there, you know, Rogers
(26:34):
what he's comfortable with, what they call in this offense,
will just continue to get better. But you know, we
all know Aaron Rodgers is a backyard football player. He
can make plays when he needs to. He just hasn't
had to shoulder the load yet this season. And if
they could keep winning games that way, so be it.
But I think we'll see it even tonight. I mean,
little Carson Wentz is that guy that that shoulders the load,
(26:58):
is gonna make plays, gonna extent plays, exciting to watch.
So you'll see it come out Aaron Rodgers tonight because
he's not gonna let the young buck outshine him. Bruce
greg Kowski is our guests from Pro Football Focus and
of course Serious XM. He's an NFL analyst. Bruce, the
other thing in the NFL so far that we notice
is how many bad teams there are, really bad teams
(27:21):
like the Dolphins and the Giants had given up at
the number was stack staggering. I think nine drives of
seventy yards or more on a defense, which is just
almost unbelievable. Why why are there so many teams that
just seem to be like totally out of it or
the defenses aren't aren't good right now? Yeah, And that's
(27:44):
that's why I talk about winning early on in this season,
because I think teams are still trying to find their
identity and trying to honestly gain competence. If you win
a few games as a team, you're like, shoot, we're
actually pretty good. We're winning some games, just like the
Green Bay Packers right now, the Packers are realizing, shoot,
we're a good football team. I mean, yes, we have
one of the best quarterbacks in the game, but we're
(28:06):
not bad. We're not bad on defense, we're not bad
offensive league like, we're a good, solid team. The same
thing with the Vikings, Like these teams will slowly find out,
you know, what kind of team they are. So you know,
that's why early on the season has supported to win.
But you see teams like the Giants struggling early. I mean,
I think Daniel Jones brought some energy to that huddle.
(28:29):
Anytime you get a guy that gets an opportunity like
Kyle Alan, Daniel Jones, Gardner, minshew, these guys are hungry,
they're driven. They're gonna bring different type of energy to
that huddle and to the football team that that team
desires and needs right now. So I look at the Giants,
great win for them, last weekend. We'll see if Daniel
(28:49):
Jones can keep it up. He needs to be better
in the pocket. You know, I just see these young
guys so many times. Is yes, you're gonna take a
few sacks, but just hold onto the ball when you
do get sacked, turning the football over. And I saw,
you know, Daniel Jones make a few nice plays with
his legs, movement in the pockets, sliding up to the left,
throwing the big post down in the middle. So he
can get it done. And he's bringing some life to
(29:12):
that team and hopefully it carries over to the defense. Now,
the defense stakes, you know what, we got to make
a few stops here. Someone's got to step up and
make a play. And honestly, guys, you see a week
in and week out, the end of the day, it's
guy's making plays. It's guy's stepping up, getting a turnover,
guys stepping up making a fantastic catch or breaking a
tackle for a huge game and run. It's guy's making plays.
(29:36):
And that's just what they have to have to start
doing over there in New York on the defensive side
of the ball as well. Last one for me, Bruce Gradkowski,
real quick I had to get your thoughts on this.
I know you're gonna be honest. If you were Carson
Wentz and you had multiple receivers dropping touchdown passes to
win games, you also had offensive lineman standing around while
you were taking a beating on tape. I know, publicly
(30:00):
air anybody out, but privately, what are you thinking? I
mean privately, that's when those conversations come up. In practice
in the meeting room. It's constant communication. And look, you know,
guys are busting their tail as well, so you don't
hold too much weight. If guys putting in the time
in practice, after practice, study and film, Look, we're all
(30:21):
gonna make mistakes, right, and you kind of move on
and you go to battle with them. I think Carson
went he's a competitor. Guys are seeing him compete out there.
He's playing fantastic on third down. I'd like him to,
you know, try to save his body a little bit
if it's an unnecessary play. You know, if you're going
to take a sack, get down early or throw the
ball away, don't take those unnecessary hits. They have some
(30:45):
injuries at the receiver position. You know, they start saw
him and de Sean Jackson kind of hook up early
on and then he gets hurt. So hopefully him and
Ertz can hook up a little bit more in the
red zone. But I think off the field, behind closed
doors is win. Those conversations come up like hey, guys,
come on, we gotta finish to the whistle. Now, we
(31:05):
gotta finish, And that stuck Peterson as well, preaching that like, hey,
we have a quarterback that extends plays. We gotta play
to the whistle. And a lot of times I've been
when I was in Pittsburgh, it happened with Big Bend.
That lineman understood you have to play to the whistle
because you never know where that guy's gonna be in
the pocket. He's unorthodox, he's gonna scramble outside, he's gonna
continue to make plays. We have to play to the whistle,
(31:28):
and that's what the Eagles have to do. And those
shop passes, you're gonna have some of those. You just
have to bounce back and make more than more than
you drop. So I think the Eagles will be fine
all right. Before to tonight, Hey, Bruce, thank you so much.
Absolutely Yeah, thanks guys, have a good night, all right,
appreciate it. It's The Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio

(33:37):
we got a little bit of a feud. So Antonio
Brown sent a tweet out Rob Parker that said the
game need me, I'm like test answers. Golden Tate responded
with what and Eric Weddle responded with a little something.
So this led to a back and forth between Eric
Weddle and Antonio Brown. So somebody reached out to Eric
(34:01):
Weddle and said, Wettle, you can't guard ab over the
top or man. Weddle said, I don't need to guard
him it is he isn't on a team. Antonio Brown
responded with I'm glad I gave you a stiff arm
on your neck and Pittsburgh, you deserved it. Little Wettle,
by the way, I thought little Weddle was what your
ex called you. Rob Parker never mind, and so Eric
(34:23):
Weddle responded with when are you going to learn? This
isn't about you, never was and never will be. Got
a game to get ready for. Good luck, my guy.
Antonio Brown responded with the following quote, Bro, I don't
even know you don't call me a b that's my
NFL name, dummy. I'm not on your team, never been.
Shut your mouth to BRONI, and Eric Weddle responded with,
you're not making any sense, but glad you're not on
(34:45):
my team. Call yourself. Whatever you want doesn't matter one
bit to me. Good luck at CMU, my bro, so
little Eric Weddle versus Antonio Brown. There, I'm gonna tell
you this. I don't get it. What if you're Eric Weddle,
Why forget ab? Why? Why why are you responding to
(35:06):
anything that he's tweeted. I don't I don't least. I
don't get anybody, and you're gonna bat somebody who was
out of the league without a job. Seriously, I don't
get anybody that feuds with anybody on Twitter. I don't
get how you have the energy to do it. I
don't have the energy. I don't know how people can
go back and forth. And there are some people, there
are people in our business, and God bless him who
can sit there and have a back and forth for
(35:26):
what feels like hours. Sent me something on Twitter, like
some mean text or something. Why. I don't know. He
didn't he didn't like something that tweeted about Jim Harbor.
I guess he went to Michigan. Yeah, he got all
worked up because Michigan got worked over like a burger
fries on Saturday. Let me tell you something, I am, Gavin,
our executive producer, calls me the Jim Harball washer. Okay,
(35:49):
the hardball washer. Yes, a little play on words, because
I defend Jim Harbaugh to no end after Saturday too.
Let me tell you something. When you go out off
a bye week and you get hyped like that on
national television, there is there is no defending it. They
got steamrolled. There is. It was non competitive and if
you take offense to criticism of that game, then you're

just a fanboy. Bottom line, like you gotta be honest here, unbelievable,

I mean inciting feuds on social media with other people
that are in the business. Believe I didn't do it.
I just I don't. I never do that to people
like like. This kills me is people are met at
at your take like, and they have a form, they
(37:42):
have a platform. Yeah, just go on your platform if
you want to talk about what do you care about
what I say? Here's here's another advice. Stop being a
fanboy and don't be so sensitive. Yes, there's nothing wrong
with having to having some fun in teasing a little bit. Right.
If you don't have a sense of humor and you
take yourself or wherever you come from seriously, then that's
your problem. It makes no sense to me. But yes,
(38:04):
we got some NFL coming up. We do Thursday night football.
It's I don't know how the schedule works, but it
seems like and I'm just guessing the bad games go
on NFL network. In a good game? Is that me?
It feels like the games were better last year when
they ended up on Fox. And that's not US ball
washing Fox. That's just a saying like tonight's game is
(38:26):
a game I want to watch Eagles at the Packers. Yeah,
we've got Eagles at the Packers. They are kicking off
in less than twenty minutes from now on Fox, and
uh and right now they are showing the Green Bay
tailgate experience there outside the stadium. Everybody fired up there, right, No,
I never been Yeah, my eyes work. No, I'm just
saying I'm asking from Chicago there. No, never, Um, I
(38:50):
wouldn't be seen in Green Bay. That's that's I've been
there because obviously I've worked in Detroit for a long
time and I've covered a lot of games at lambeau Field. No,
I want to see a year. It's it's it's definitely. Yeah.
It should be on your list of your sports fan
you should go to Limbo. I want to go. I've
heard nothing but good things. They're fun to tease because
they get they get really sensitive too, but not that
whole team of balls around that. There's nothing else there.
(39:12):
You go to downtown green Bay and is a k
Mart song? Yeah? An Applebee's I think the I think
there was like an Applebee's. And the ball isn't even
in Green Bay, it's in Chicago. Yeah. Yeah, it's a
little bit of a drive. But the story going into
this game, so the Green Bay Packers are undefeated and
the Philadelphia Eagles come in having lost a couple of games.
(39:34):
They probably felt like they should have won last week
to your Detroit Lions, Rob Parker, your Detroit you know,
root for the Lions at all, your Detroit Lions. And
then they also lost one the week before to the
Atlanta Falcons who were bailed out on a screen pass
and a block that that broke Julio Jones for a touchdown.
But the story going into this game, I think more
(39:55):
people would lean towards is as good as the Packers
have looked on defense and they're under defeated. What is
the issue going on on offense? Earlier, Bruce Gradkowski, a
Pro Football Focus former NFL quarterback, he joined us. He
breaks down all the tape, looks at these offenses, looks
at these quarterbacks. He weighed in on what he sees
with Aaron Rodgers and this Packers offense. You know, I'm
(40:15):
not concerned right now. I mean, you look at green
Bay right now. Three you know, I mean, if you
could finish three and one or four and in the
first quarter, you're doing outstanding. Because teams are trying to
still find their identity and see what they're going to
become as a football team in twenty nineteen. For green Bay,
they have the whole package right now. I mean, they
have a defense as playing well. They have guys that
(40:38):
they're trying to surround Rogers and not put so much
on his plate and his shoulders. And just watch how
him and Laflora will will slowly come together as this
season goes on. They'll feel each other out and know
what each other likes out there. You know, Rogers what
he's comfortable with, what they call in this offense will
just continue to get better. But you know, we all
(41:00):
know Aaron Rodgers is a backyard football player. He can
make plays when he to. He just hasn't had the
shoulder the load yet this season. And if they could
keep winning games that way, so be it. So you'll
see it come out on Aaron Rodgers tonight because he's
not gonna let the young buck outshine him. That's Bruce Kratkowski,
who joined us earlier talking about Aaron Rodgers math la
Floor's relationship. I'm expecting him to break out a little
(41:24):
bit as well at some point. Yeah, no tonight tonight.
I'm expecting a pretty big game from him. But I
don't think I think people are look at it two ways.
They criticize Aaron Rodgers to say, oh well again, get
along with his coach. He improvises too much, he doesn't
take coaching. Then a new guy comes in with a
new system. Aaron Rodgers to me, looked like he's pulled
(41:45):
back right and he's kind of going along with the
script or whatever else they're doing. And they're winning. They
got a defense, and it's not like he's doesn't have
any touchdowns where he has four picks or he's not
hitting his guys in the red zone. They're tied for second.
They always score when they get down there. So I'm
looking at it going on the numbers, I pop in no,
(42:07):
but the difference between say them and the Cowboys, where
Dak has ten touchdowns, They're playing three of the worst
defenses in the league. He just played the Vikings who
were number four a year ago, the Bears, who were
number three a year ago, like really good defenses. And
it's a new system. So I'm cool with it right now.
And I look at it almost like a teeter totter.
You remember those teeter totters when you were when you
(42:28):
were a kid. Sit on one side and sit on
the other. Right now, all the weight is on the defense,
So the defense is the team. They're truly holding things down.
And because of that, you can look at this a
couple of ways. Also, well, the defense has played really well,
but look at who's they've actually gone against, right the
teams that they've played against, Denver, Chicago in the Minnesota
(42:51):
who Kirk Cousins just seems to somehow figure out how
to lose games late every single time he plays in
a big game. And then you look at Aaron Rodgers
and you look at those defenses you mentioned, I think
this is where everything starts to even out. They're playing
actually a much better quarterback this week, so Aaron Rodgers
is playing much less of a defense than he's throughout
the course of the season. So it feels like this
(43:13):
is going to be the week to where things start
to even out a little bit. My only thing on
this Aaron Rodgers Matt Lafloor stuff is this, I know
for a fact that Aaron Rodgers was not talked to
about the hiring of Matt Lafloor. They did not go
to him to get his opinion or his approval. Aaron
Rodgers had no input on the higher I also know
that Aaron Rodgers has spoken out multiple times about frustrations
(43:38):
with the offense. He did it this week when he said,
you know, the offense, we've got to hold up our
end of the bargain. I just wonder at some point
Aaron Rodgers is going to say, look, I've tried to
do it your way for as long as I possibly can,
and they're going to get into a situation to where
it's going to be on Rodgers to figure it out,
whether it's a two minute offense or a hurry up situation.
(43:59):
And that's what I think. You start to see the
old Aaron Rodgers, but he's trying to fit into a system.
I mean, let's be honest here, Matt laflor had one
year of offensive coordinator experience where he was calling plays
and that was with the Tennessee Titans. Anybody see the
Titans offense last I don't remember the change was it
was dreadful. So at that point, I think Aaron Rodgers
(44:21):
is going to have a conversation with Matt Lafloor or
something's going to happen to where they decide, look, I've
tried to do this your way for as long as possible.
Trust that I know in these situations what it takes
to get get wins and get this thing done. The defense,
you can't always rely on every single week. You find
yourself you're trailing late and it's going to be Aaron Rodgers.
(44:43):
And I still think he's got enough left to have
an impact. But I think right now they're able to
get by. And to Bruce's point, you start out any season,
I don't care where you get wins, or you start
out four and oh be happy about it. Any other
part is and I mentioned this, that's two division wins,
like you know how big those one on the road
(45:03):
against the Bears to start the season. Remember the Bears
won the division a year ago twelve and four, huge
win to start the season. And then you beat the
Vikings and and you have a chance you're at home
to beat the Eagles, who a little banged up, got
some issues in the secondary. Right, Rogers could take advantage
of you win this your four not to start the year,
(45:24):
you're you're in the driver's seat. And there's also we
can think whatever we want about certain teams, but you
can really dictate pace early in the season. So a
couple of teams that jump out to me, Look, do
you think the Buffalo Bills are a super Bowl contender.
Do you think that's a team that's a Super Bowl? Okay?
What about the San Francisco forty nine Ers, No, okay,
what about the Chicago Bears. You got a shot, okay,
(45:47):
only because their defense. Here's what all those teams have
in common. The hardest thing to do in the NFL
has went on the road. They've both all three of
those teams have won all their road games so far.
If you can just go five hundred on the road
and trust that you're a decent team at home, all right,
that puts you about nine or ten wins automaticomatically. So
(46:08):
you can you can say, well, the Bills beat the
Giants and the Jets on the road, big deal. You
know what, that's two of their road games out of
the way, and they're two and oh no, those are
big wins. There's no doubt about it, especially on the road,
because they're so hard in the NFL to get road Yeah.
And so when I when I look at this game tonight,
I think there's we can talk all we want about. Well,
(46:28):
you know, the Packers, we need to see more on offense.
I think most of the pressure on this game goes
over to the Philadelphia Eagles because they have lost a
couple of games that you just cannot afford to lose.
The game against Atlanta they had in the bag and
they lost. And the game against the Lions was a disaster.
And when you when you see video evidence of multiple
offensive linemen standing literally standing around while Carson Wentz is
(46:52):
getting drilled into the ground. After all the injuries he's
been through and everything, they should be protecting him like
a baby. And the and the drops from the wide
receivers they're gonna get all Sean Jeffrey back tonight, which
is which is is good. That's definitely an improvement because
Nelson Aguilar, Nelson Aguilar had such an issue with drops
that a guy who was catching babies out of a
window made a joke about it that he could catch those,
(47:13):
but Nelson Aguilar couldn't. So how ridiculous was that? I know, seriously,
And you know, Nelson Aguilar handled it the right way though.
He reached out to him and said, I'd love to,
you know, say thank you for your heroic efforts and
let me buy get you a couple of game tickets,
So you know, I mean to handle it the right
way there. Rob barts Oh, no, no, onn't you make
a mistake. You could, Yeah, that was a mistake putting
(47:34):
the two to game. Of course, do you think there's
a little bit of a reach, just a little bit,
but yeah, so so I'm excited for this game. We
got a good Thursday night game and we have a
chance to see really what the Packers are defensively that
what uh? I think third in the league? Yeah, yeah,
they were there were in a good spot and so
and and the other statistic that people will point to
(47:56):
is what's the most important down on offense? Third down?
Not good at third and they're like third to last.
But but but that also is the reason why they've struggled. Yeah, uh,
in the offense because they're not sustaining drives. Third down
is very important in order to keep the drives alive
so they might get good field positions, start moving. And
then if you can't get that third down, obviously it
(48:17):
stalls the drive that has to get better. And the
other thing about Philly, I mean, Dallas just keeps winning
and at some point this division is going to be
a little bit out of reach if this continues on.
This is a big game for Philly because right now
they have the Jets next week. I think. So it
ain't like the season is not over because now because
now Dallas has two tough games this Sunday and then
(48:40):
they have it, and then they have the Packers. Yeah,
I think then after that, yeah, so then they could
easily be there start at three and oh they could
be three and two and two and two weeks. And
Dallas also has a scheduling advantage because Dallas doesn't travel
outside of the Central time Zone. They go to the East,
they go to the Eastern time Zone and the Central
and that's it. So there's no long road trips, there's
no fatigue, there's no going out to Seattle, there's no
(49:02):
Dallas has got a pretty favorable schedule. So I would
think as much as everybody wants to talk about the
offense and the Packers and all that, this is a
massive game for Philly. I mean, look, those fancied horsecrap
off the ground after they win Super Bowls. What are
you think they're gonna do after that was pretty year
one of them. I leave that, huh? Like like the
old I remember Art Long, the old Cincinnati basketball player
(49:22):
that punch the police horse. Yes, I do remember that.
How about that I do remember that that was value
Age and yourself, Andy Furman. Andy Furman told me this story.

We were talking last segment Rob about the game that
is kicking off momentarily on Fox. It is the Packers
(51:57):
and the Eagles from Lambeau to talking about the quote
unquote struggling Packers offense and also the Philadelphia Eagles. Are
they in trouble with Dallas winning in Philadelphia another tough
test on a short week after losing a tough one
to Detroit and Atlanta the week before. Where do they stand?
Let's go to h eight seven seven ninety nine on
(52:17):
Fox is the phone line if you want to be

here on Fox Sports Radio. Trey, What's happening? Puts up guys,
First time caller, long time listening. Wow, appreciated Trey. Thank you.
Oh dang, big big fan, Rob, big band, you kill
Chris every day? Oh man, you know hey, thanks Man,
(52:38):
But Packers had the pressure on him tonight. I think
Aaron Rodgers might be in decline, similar to Lebron James.
We put a lot of pressure on that guy to
perform at such a high level. He might not be
able to go to that next gear like we're used
to seeing him. I think that's a little premature. I'm
(52:58):
not there yet. I'd have to see the rest of
the season, you know, with a new coach and a
new system. I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt.
I feel that I feel it any more, sample side,
no doubt. Thanks Trey for calling. I'm trying to I'm
just trying to remember. When's the last time we had
an all time great quarterback who missed the playoffs in
consecutive years. Well, but he was injured. I don't think
(53:21):
that that's okay, But that's part of the conversation. But
I mean, I don't think that that. I don't think
that you could use that against If he was healthy
and he missed a playoffs two years in a row,
I would be with him. But you used that against Lebron.
We both used that against Lebron. We did because Lebron
came back and he was healthy. He came back and
then they lost. Okay, okay, but you and I both
when we were dealing with the uh the LBWs, the
(53:42):
Lebron ballwashers that make up the Greater Southern California in
Los Angeles area, you and I both were saying when
everyone said, well, it's because Lebron got injured, that's part
of the story. You you're no, but the disability is availability,
and Aaron Rodgers hasn't been available. Yeah, but I'm saying,
but the other part on with Lebron is he came back.
He said, lay off mold. Do you remember that? I
remember that? And then they lost to the Hawks and
(54:03):
to the Sons and to the Grizzlies. Do you remember
and they lost by fifty five points to uh uh
in Indiana? Yeah, I mean they were just awful and
and and if you remember, Oladipo didn't even play and
and look, Aaron Rodgers came back and they still didn't
make the playoffs last year. Yes, do you remember what
(54:24):
happened to them the first game of the year. Yes, Okay, yeah, okay,
I'm just saying too. Listen, we're on the same page
when it comes to Lebron. But we start to branch
off into different roads. We'll see after this year, after
this game, and then maybe you'll be saying, oh, maybe
Amon Rodgers is Okay, st Stephen in Florida? Do you
have to say it like that, Stephen in Florida? You
(54:45):
are next up on the odd couple here, Stephen, what's happening?
What's going on? Odd couple. I'm a very I'm a
very influential person with the football in the in the NFL.
The comment you made about, uh, just a quarterback the
quarterbacks not being or appearing in the playoffs is very
(55:05):
uh is very unusual. I don't think any quarterback, starting quarterbacks,
or a team that we're to play in the NFL
not being the playoffs would be very discouraging for a team.
But well I do, and I started interrupt Stephen, but Martin,
who is in with us here, I had helped us
out with this. Drew Brees was seven and nine in
twenty fourteen, twenty sixteen, so there is a recent example.
(55:29):
So there you go, and it was helped Okay, Okay, Well,
I mean Drew Brees is obviously got respect uh and
and honestly, the playoffs is where it matters. If you're
going to talk about the Eagles and the Packers being
in obviously, Uh, not e This is not a this
is not a contention, This is not not for for
(55:50):
it accounts regular is a regular season game. I think
that I think that the Eagles being just obviously content.
They're they're contending the ground, they're holding their round with
the Packers. I think it's it's a great Uh, it's
a must it's a must beat. It's it's a must
show up, and that it's a steven it's a big game.
(56:11):
The Eagles are one and two, the Dallas Cowboys are
three and oz and they're trying to win a division.
Going into this season, everybody had the Eagles winning the division.
They're off to a slow start and the Cowboys are
off to a great start. It's just that simple, now, Yeah,
and we appreciate the call. Stephen, I think is uh,
his teleprompter was upside down. Um, all right, we've got
Marty in Kentucky listening here on Fox Sports Radio. Marty
(56:34):
in Kentucky here on FSR, Marty, what's happening, what's up? Tellings?
My voice is a little bit back today, so hopefully
I'll sound better than the Rottwiler with the mouthful of
all Right, man, is that a Rob said? He can
you believe Rob Parker, this guy, he sounded like a
Rottwaller with a mouthful. You were unbelievable. More do you
know what that was? Jonas? You had my back, Rob,
(56:56):
And I do. I do think that the Eagles have
a little more pressure, just because the simple fact is
there their two games back in their division. And I
thought that Jonas's joke was hilarious. And he's got the
best radio voice that I've ever heard. It even say
I's right when he's got a mouthful of Brady. Oh, Marty,
(57:19):
there we go, Marty putting in the world of party
Hardy Martin, Marty to tape on that one. Mike, Mike
is in Georgia here on Fox Sports Radio. Mike, what's happening, Hi, guys,
how you're doing. I'm just calling from Augusta, Georgia. Asters. Yeah,
I appreciate that. By the way, By the way, Augusta,
(57:40):
Georgia the biggest delusion in the history of television. They
make the Masters seem like the entire city looks like that.
You walk outside of the gates of Augusta National and
you're ducking for cover. Okay, that's all. Yeah, that's right.
The city's like, uh, half half one way and half
the other way, like most big most cities. I should say,
(58:02):
all right, what you got? Yeah, we're talking about the
Green Bay Packers in the Philadelphia Eagles tonight. Ye, And
I guess we're talking about who's got the most pressure? Yeah,
who does well? I think it's definitely the Philadelphia Eagle.
If you got the most pressure. They got there one
of them two Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay Tree. And oh,
(58:22):
I know, I know they've been talking a lot about
Aaron Rodgers declined or whatever. I don't think he's declined.
I think it's just a matter of they got a
new coach and new system or whatever and they're just
working out the kinks. But over there in Philadelphia, that
Carson Wentz, I think it's I think it's just fallout
from given Nick fo Nick Foles away. Nick Foles took
(58:44):
him to the Super Bowl, he almost did it again
last year, and yet Philadelphia Eagles got all their faith
and Carson Wentz. Carson Wentz is a better quarterback and
then for the long term, stop with the Nick Foles
was a backup for a reason. I'm sorry. Everybody does this. Oh,
everybody who's waiting in the wings is always better than
the guy playing. Carson Wentz was going to win the MVP,
(59:06):
was he not? Before he got hurt? You know he's
a better quarterback than Jeff Hostetler. Phil sins, Oh, yeah, okay,
Hostello won a Super Bowl? Hello? Is this on? Yeah?
It's just ridiculous, all right. By the way, he said,
like most cities, they go one way and then they
go the other. Like half goes one way, half goes
the other. I thought he was talking about your dating life.
Is that all right? It is the odd couple. Here
(59:28):
on Fox Spots, we are brought to you by truecr

couple here on Fox Sports Radio. Jonas Knox, Rob Parker
in for Chris Brussard here on FSR, coming up twelve
minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio. It is
one of the long lost arts in the world of
(01:00:12):
sports and one of the highest paid athletes. Wiyhs in
on it. Find out what it is that twelve minutes
from now here on Fox Sports Radio Right now, Though
he is a Super Bowl champion, he is a Fox
NFL analyst, and he is kind enough to spend a
few minutes with us here on Fox Sports Radio. He
is Greg Jennings, Greg Jonas and Rob. What's happening? What's up? Greg?
(01:00:32):
What's that happened to Fellas? Now? Look, I just want
to ask you because we were talking about this Aaron
Rodgers and Matt Lafloor relationship and the offense is sputtered,
and I know that he's learning a new offense and
they're trying to incorporate some new things. But have you, personally,
from from what you've seen of Aaron Rodgers, have you
seen any sort of slip in his ability or his
(01:00:55):
athleticism or anything that leads you to believe that maybe
we're just gonna have to get used to a new Rodgers.
You know, That's what I'm trying to figure out. I
feel like I'm picking up a couple of things with
number one, his lack of desire to really get outside
the pocket and make things happen with his legs, as
(01:01:18):
well as accuracy. He's been a little inaccurate from the
year's past and what we've come to know him as
being both in the pocket and out of the pocket.
And again, that could be a culmination of a couple
of things, him not quite being comfortable in that offense
or with what's going on as far as what the
(01:01:39):
defense is showing him. Or it could be that he
is starting to flip, which no one in Green Bay,
packer Land and cheese Land will ever want to admit
to the fact that Aaron Rodgers is starting to decline
a little bit. But it just is a natural thing
that every player encounters. And I believe he's hitting at Yeah,
(01:02:01):
I'm not so sure yet. I just got to see
a little bit more before I want to watch him
this season before I can determine which way he's going,
how big are getting. I just that's it, you know
what I mean. He's been heard a couple of years
some other stuff, so I just want to see a
little bit more before and again with the new coach.
And may you know, people said that Aaron doesn't want
to take coaching and he doesn't want to listen, and
(01:02:23):
now it looks like he's buying in and they're running
the ball a little bit more, and now people saying
he can't play. So I don't know how you win.
But anyway, a bigger game for who to tonight, Packers,
you know, this would be a four and oh would
be a great start to the season, or the Eagles
one and two with the Cowboys three and oh. It's
a big game for the Eagles. Yeah, it's definitely a
(01:02:45):
bigger game for the Philadelphia Eagles. When you look at
that division, the Cowboys are running away with that division
primarily because no one is stepping up and winning ball
games outside of the Dallas Cowboys. And there comes a
point in the season where you can get far enough
behind to where you're not even in contention. I don't
care how great of the team you are. But with
(01:03:06):
some of the injuries that the Philadelphia Eagles are enduring
right now early in the season, and they'll get some
guys back in the weeks to come, they have to win.
This is a must win. You don't want to fall
three games back behind the Dallas Cowboys pending what they
do on Sunday. So I think it's definitely a bigger
game for the Philadelphia Eagles. And in the game, if
(01:03:26):
you're not watching, yeah, Jamal Williams has been knocked out
of the game and he's on a stretcher and they're
taking him off, so hopefully he'll be all right. Yeah,
and it was that Derek Barnett, but he was he
was being held up and Derek bart Barnett came in
and the helmet to helmet and Jamal Williams went basically
out cold, and they didn't they didn't eject Derek Barnett
and Greg. You know, this works if it's a standalone game,
(01:03:48):
when everybody's watching this, the outrage is going to be
over the top. There are plays like this had happened
every single week, but it's mixed in with a bunch
of other games, so we don't hear a lot about it.
I think Derek Barnett and I think the NFL is
going to be don't notice because of a play like this, Jonas,
you hit the nail right on the head. A lot
of times when you typically watch these games, the Sunday
night games, the Monday night games, the games that are
(01:04:11):
nationally televised where they have an isolated game with a
national audience watching just that game, the refs are already
told to approach the game with a little different um
just because of that. Like you, they want to put
out a good product, both officiating as well as the
(01:04:31):
game that it's played with the two teams going head
to head. So anytime you get a hit like that
what we just saw, it's going to be put on
notice and someone has to send out that letter. Whether
he gets ejected from the game or gets a penalty
which we didn't see that there might be a fine.
(01:04:53):
There's going to be something because of what we just saw.
And yeah, a row, Yeah that'll be as longest completion
of the game. Rob Let me. Let me, I'm not
saying that you talking to Jonas. I'm talking to Jona.
Like when I say I'm coming from a from a
perspective on being with him early on and seeing his height, like,
(01:05:17):
I trust me, I know that he's not that player.
But and when people say you're losing a staff, where
you're falling off, it doesn't mean you're no good. It's
just it's just based on it's clearly subjective to who
who knows you the best. And that's where I come
from a place of where I know him. And he
would never admit to it. No, I get that, No,
(01:05:39):
he shouldn't. And I understand why players wouldn't want to
say that I'm with you, I'm with you, when when
guys start talking about he's not elite anymore, and yeah,
I'm not I'm not there, Greig. I wanted to ask
you great jennings with us here on Fox Sports Radio
Jonah Stocks, Rob Parker, and for Christopherson. I wanted to
just go back quickly when you mentioned, you know, officials,
(01:05:59):
if it's just standalone game like this, they want to
put out the best product possible, so maybe they'll call
the game a little bit differently. Did you feel that
in playing the game or did officials communicate that to
you before games? If it was a primetime game like this,
that it was going to have a little bit of
a different feel, and we were going to call it
a little bit differently than if it was a game
mixed in the typical noon Central one PMS Eastern time
(01:06:22):
slot on a Sunday. Well, you really kind of know
based on the officiating crew everyone every team as a
script of who's going to be calling and officiating that game,
and so you kind of know their tendencies on what
they how they liked the games to run. But then
if you're playing in a primetime game, obviously there are
(01:06:43):
a lot more eyeballs on you. And so the league
is across the board from uniform check to making sure
the sidelines are back and just little things like that,
to where they tighten up on officiating to make sure
they have control of the game game and that's the
main thing. They don't ever want to lose control of
the game when they have that national audience. And so
(01:07:06):
when you get those noon games, sometimes they'll let things,
they'll let hits go, they'll let little things go because
it's not a national audience. Hey, hey, Greg, the league,
what are eighteen games? The Union said, no, thank you.
Now the league wants seventeen games and if you're the union.
And I have a problem with the NFL's players a
(01:07:28):
union because I think it's just not strong enough to
stand up to the owners. But if if there's any
more regular season games, shouldn't the players hold out for
guarantee some sort of guaranteed contracts or or make the
owners give them something more. Yeah, you would think you
would think that that would be the approach of every
player that would have to suit up and thinking of
(01:07:51):
being on a roster. If I'm going to be asked
to play an additional game which puts my body in
a place of additional harm, then there has to be
a height heightened and sentive of why I would do that,
Like you to use your nick give me the same
thing that I'm doing for sixteen games for seventeen. Thank you.
(01:08:12):
Not going to happen right where there's a chance that
you could be seriously hurt and your career be over
with another chance at another game. Absolutely, he is Greg Jennings,
super Bowl champion, Fox NFL analyst. You see him on
Fox Sports one all the time. If you hear him
here on Fox Sports Radio at Greg Jennings on Twitter, Greg,
thanks so much, man. We appreciate the time. Absolutely, guys
(01:08:34):
appreciate it. Yeah, seven nothing packers if you're just tuning
in Aaron Rodgers with a big throw. But they wear
the ball in yea. What they've been doing. Yeah, because
they know they can trust their at ground game. Look
at through stopping point. You may do a good ball
down because they didn't kick the field goal, you know
what stopping all right? Rob Parker Jonas Knox in for

A three hour tour. The weather started getting rough, the

Rob Rob Pip Stock, Rob Parker along with Jonas Knox
in for Chris brussa um so Rob Parker coming up
at the top of next hour. We have got a
little bit of trolling or rolling here on Fox Sports
Radio at the top of our three so so, a
very very special edition of trolling or rolling here as
(01:10:53):
we were watching Thursday night football, right now the Green
Bay Packers have a seven nothing lead in the game.
Green Bay with a touchdown run by Aaron Jones of
the Packers, giving them a seven nothing lead. If you
missed it, earlier in the game, Jamal Williams of the
Packers caught a pass. He was being held up and
(01:11:15):
sort of posted up and Barnett for the Eagles came
in helmet to helmet and uh at. Williams has been
sent to the hospital. He was knocked out. Coley's saying
that though his lower stremities right or okay, right, Yeah,
he's got feeling or whatever. So it's not hoping at everything.
I mean, you know, but when when you're hoping that
(01:11:35):
it's just a concussion, it's still not good news. I no, no, no,
I mean absolutely yeah. I mean he may he may have,
you know, feeling in all his lower extremities, but I
mean it doesn't mean that by any means that he's
out of the wood. No. No, it's in the hospital. Right.
It took a serious blow, you getting knocked out. It's
not something that you uh take take lightly. Yeah, and
(01:11:55):
there will be an outrage all throughout sports read a
sports radio and tell levision following that hit by barnett
Um without being said though, it is time for a
little something we do on the show, and it's called
this Nobody's little been a bomb shop? You know that?
Ain't nobody you will talking about whoever, whatever, whatever? You
want a shop talk? All right, here we go a
(01:12:17):
little bit of shop talk. So Rob Parker, how do
we set this up here? You're the veteran on this show.
How do we so? What do we do? We just
threw out a topic, we throw out what are we
doing here? Right? Well? We got the top we have Okay.
So Bryce Harper and Bryce Harper had some commentary when
it came to heckling in sports, and heckling is a
time honor tradition. I don't know if you know this,
(01:12:37):
but Bryce Bryce Harper had these comments on social media
when it's talking about the heckling from right field fans
at National's Park earlier this week. He said, quote, they
were fine all game, talking about myself and things like that.
I get it everywhere I go. That's nothing new, but
the last two innings it's just not right. It's not right.
He also said, quote I owe a lot to those
(01:12:59):
people up there in Philly because They show up for
me every single night, and they're there to cheer us
and boo us and keep us going as a team
and as individuals as well. I'm looking forward to the
next twelve years. Can't wait. End quote. Not a fan
of the of the heckling Bryce Hard. I am one
of those guys who believe, you pay your money, you
(01:13:20):
have a right to boo as long as it's not
racist or you know what I mean, like like disgusting
or or or or something like that where you take
it to a low to the gutter. Yeah, I'm cool
with it. I mean that's you do pay your money
and you have a right to boo and cheer, So
as long as you keep it above that, I'm cool
with it. I think guys can't be that sensitive. You
(01:13:42):
want the cheers, the booze, come with it, the cheers
and the booze. Yeah, that's totally With the cheers and booze,
You're totally fine. Um the personal attacks, the insults, when
it goes above and beyond, when you got guys throwing
beers and people's faces like a games like that, Look,
I'm okay with it, but understand that there are circumstances
which you know somebody's gonna take take offense to that,
(01:14:03):
and somebody's gonna want to react to that. Like you
remember back in the day, Kevin McHale went up into
the crowd and fought some guy and then obviously the
malice at the Palace. You were there for that. So
as long as we keep it above board, I'm okay
with its. Yeah, but you can hackle as long as
you just keep it. There's a certain degree where you
don't go, and if you don't go there, I'm cool
with it. I want to hear something amazing. Discover matches

sure do. And your Aaron Rodgers is lightening it up
right now on Thursday night. How about that? I do?
I told you, I told us to stop it stop
you were you were ready. It's only seven nothing, We
me lighten it up. They scored it up and down
the field. Yeah, but they scored on their first drive.
(01:15:52):
I think that's the third week in the row that
they have on that. Yeah, it's just the second half
that there's been an issue. Yeah, And so people look
at that as b a telltale sign that there's no
CounterPunch from Matt Lafloor. Same thing with Matt Naggie. That's
been the knock on Matt Naggie that his offense is.
They're really really good on script early on, but why
when when teams make adjustments, you got to be able
(01:16:14):
to adjust as well. It's like you know this in
covering baseball, the difference between the good pictures and the
great pictures is everybody's got a good fastball. What's your
secondary pitch? Yes, and if you don't have a secondary pitch,
you're screwed. You usually wind up getting beat up. All right,
So well, one of our favorite segments, Yeah, and the
program is trolling or Rolling with Martin Weiss, and we're
(01:16:37):
going to do that now. Tom Brady, he's done. Aaron
Rodgers did not have a Pro Bowl season. China gives
me it's trolling or rolland trolling and rolling Martin Weiss
and uh, I can't hear my own voice. I hope
this microphone is on. But you're good, Okay, thank you
(01:16:59):
turning them the knob there for the volume and he
will help you. No one else, no one else needs
to know about that. So what I will do is
explaining the rules of trolling a rolling real quick. If
the guys liked the story. You hear the roll sounds,
and if they don't hear the troll sounds, oh man, hey, hey, hey,
hey hey. So most athletes will tell you that they
(01:17:22):
don't pay attention to the media and they block out
the noise, but Baker Mayfield is not one of those athletes.
Former coach and current analyst Rex Ryan called him overrated
as hell, and Baker, in true Baker fashion, responded, it's
whatever and the wise words of Freddie Kitchens. Because you
don't wear an orange and brown, you don't matter. And
Rex Ryan doesn't have any colors right now for a reason.
(01:17:43):
So it's okay, Rob, are you trolling or rolling? Baker
Mayfield response, trolling? Oh man, hey, hey hey. He's an analyst.
That's what Rex Ryan does for a living. So what
if he's not on board with you? So what none
of that, that's all noise. Go play, Go do your thing.
(01:18:04):
That's all that matters. Do your thing and people will
be like, wow, Okay, Baker's the hell of a quarterback.
To be worked up and get your panties in a
bunch over an analyst saying he thinks you're overrated. It
shouldn't be the end of the world, and you don't
have to respond to everything. I'm rolling with Baker Mayfield,
look at you. Here's look not me Personally, I wouldn't
do it. I don't. I don't want to engage in
(01:18:26):
a back and forth because I just don't have time.
And if I were an NFL quarterback, I'd be too
focused on trying to figure out defenses and get better.
But that being said, I'm tired of us telling athletes
how they should handle trash talk from the media. It's
a new day and age. I have no issue with Nasis,
I have no issue with Kevin Durant spouting back with
somebody shoots their mouth off, and I have no issue
(01:18:46):
with Baker Mayfield. Do it. If you're that insecure and
you want to fire off about something like that, you
do you. It's your social media account, it's it's your
public form, it's your press conference. Handle how you want
to handle it. To be fair, and Baker's a fist.
He did say he's not wearing colors for a reason.
He almost analyzed, he kind of did a little analyst
do what what what? Coach? You went to the ANFC
(01:19:07):
Championship game and beat Tom Brady and Bill Belichick at
Foxboro you're talking about Come on, man, you're only defenders
because you're not coaching. What's the big deal. Here's here's
the problem. You're only defending him because you two are
a member of the FF What's up the foot Fetish Foundation,
So because of that, you're defending Rex Ryan, and I
think it's preposterous. Rob Parker. On the topic of Tom Brady,
(01:19:31):
just about everyone in the world except for Rob Parker,
thinks Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time.
That includes Lions cornerback Quandre Diggs. But Diggs also spoke
very glorily about this week's opponent, Patrick Mahomes. To me,
tom Brady is gonna be the best ever for my
whole life. That's just how it is. But the way
he passes home, man, he's gonna break every record in
(01:19:51):
the NFL history if he keeps this up. So um,
I love it though, you know, like I said, I
love He's a Texas guy and I always brag about
Texas for Baller here, so you know, I'm I'm cool
with that as long as he's not against us. Rob,
are you trolling or rolling Quandre Diggs? Quarterback evaluations, trolling.
Oh man, hey, hey, talk about premature? Hello, can we
(01:20:15):
get ron Jiwarski on the phone? Remember ron Jiwarsky told
us that Colin Kaepernick was gonna be the greatest quarter
how to be the great quarterback ever? Do you remember that?
After Colin had a cup of coffee and the sweet
roll in the NFL stop. It's just too early. It
doesn't mean that he's not a great player. He's been unbelievable.
But can I can I remind you Dan Marino had
(01:20:38):
forty eight touchdowns his rookie year. Dan Marino went to
the Super Bowl his second year, didn't win, and nobody
mentions him as the greatest quarterback ever despite his great numbers.
You know why it never won. So can he win
something to go along with the numbers before we talk
about greatest of all time? I'm rolling with it in
the words, in the words of the great Arnie span Year.
(01:21:00):
You can only react to what you've seen, and if
only the only thing we've seen is this from Patrick Mahomes,
and he's putting up this kind of numbers. You just
gotta sort of, you know, like look into the future,
the trajectory, and that's where you come up with your analysis,
I'm rolling with it. Tom Brady is the greatest of
all time. That's why Rob Parker's more pissed off about
the quote because he gave Tom Brady credit, and you
don't give Tom Brady any credit. What is he a MasterCard?
(01:21:23):
I mean, what do you want from me? Tom Brady
could do that. Tom Brady couldn't do that. No, Tom
can't trolling, rolling odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Lamar
Jackson is one of the premier dual threat quarterbacks in
the NFL. So much so in fact, that when he
was coming out to be drafted, some gm suggested that
he switched from quarterback their wide receiver. Now no one's
(01:21:44):
saying that anymore, as Lamar is throw him for eight
hundred and eighty six yards and eight touchdowns in the
first three weeks of the year. So much so in fact,
Lamar spoke about it himself. I hate running only if
I have to, you know. But my job is to
get the ball to the receivers, tight ends, running backs.
If I have to run, I'll do it, but I'd
rather just sit back and pass it down instead of
(01:22:05):
running him. Rob, are you trolling or rolling Lamar Jackson
not wanting to run. I'm rolling with it. I think
he understands, you know what, He's seen all the running
quarterbacks and the shelf life of those guys, and no
matter what success he's had, he knows it won't be
a long ride if he continues to do that, because
(01:22:27):
once you leave that pocket and you start running around,
you are a targeting not a quarterback anymore. You're a runner.
And I think he's a smart guy to say I
don't want to run, I can throw the football. Let
me throw it. Yeah, I'm rolling with it as well.
And I think a couple of things have happened. One
he was told coming into the draft play a different position,
we can't trust you from behind center and throwing the football,
(01:22:49):
and he took that to heart and he said, okay, watch,
I'm gonna get better. And then at the same time,
he's seen guys like Cam Newton, who he probably grew
up idolizing, who look how big and strongly a shell
of themselves, and Lamar Jackson doesn't have that same body type.
And so when Lamar Jackson is coming out and putting
up the numbers and putting up what he's doing early
on in the season like he's doing it. Let's just
(01:23:11):
all remember Lamar Jackson in a playoff game was being
booed off the field by Ravens fans. They wanted Joe Flaco.
And you know what he did in the off season,
decided I'm gonna prove people wrong. I'm gonna come back
out and I'm gonna be a better quarterback. And if
you were to say right now, who improved the most
in one off season from rookie year to the second year,
(01:23:32):
either the first pick of the first round or the
last pick of the first round, it's Lamar Jackson the
last pick of the first round, and Baker Mayfield, who's
struggling in his second year so far. Yeah, that's a
great point. And you know what people in Denver, I
don't think they want Flaco now, dude, Denver's got problems. Yeah,
nothing but strike out with quarterback. I mean, look, you know,
(01:23:54):
I guess I mean, hey, you know he had Peyton Manning.
Peyton Manning looked like looked pretty good that Super Bowl year, right,
I mean, it looked like the tin man who wound
up getting a Super Bowl at a party, it looked
like he was going through Riga Morton, What do you
have like ninety yards? He was off ter was terrible, terrible.
Can't believe that Kim and them didn't win that. One
of the great defensive performances in the history of the
(01:24:17):
NFL was that Broncos team. And you can think that's overreaction,
look at what they had on offense, and look at
who they had at quarterback. They had weekend at Bernie's
at quarterback, and they shut down Carolina and won that
Super Bowl. They shut down the MVP. One of the
great defensive performances that doesn't get talked about enough. That
Broncos offense was so bad that when brock Oswyler came in,
(01:24:37):
he made it beat. Oh yeah, there was energy in
the building. Energy and brock Osweiler, I mean, they've got
to use makeup to cover up the bolts on his
Oh my, it's my mic on. I like that. That's
a good Herman Monster reference. Franken stopped a little throw back.
All right, there you go trolling and rolling with Mark Martin.
Wise Martin, thank you, good job, buddy. And they stop
(01:25:00):
by the Philadelphia Eagles in the red zone, holding the
Packers to a field goal ten nothing. Green Bay. A
big return for Philadelphia and they've got the ball inside
Packer territory. What do you what do you make of
this so far? Um, Look, it feels like Carson Wentz
only struck. Only you trust zach Ertz on offense because
it feels like that's all he's going to and do
(01:25:21):
have to do more than that. They need They need
points here. Philadelphia needs points here because they got the
ball in and Packer territory. You said, with the big
return and against this defense, you got to take advantage
of field position. You have to because they have not
shown the ability to stop Aaron Rodgers. Look at that's
that they've trailed by ten points in every game this season,
so they always and that's a hard part, even if
(01:25:43):
you're a good quarterback, where you have to always come
from behind. That's stunning. Zach Ertz with another catch, Agen, Yeah, yeah,
it's the only guy I think I eat trusts. Apparently
everybody else has got He's got Edwards scissor hands on
each side of him, so can't trust anybody to catch
the ball. So there it is, all right. The odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio coming up next, Jones, We're
(01:26:05):
gonna do a little baseball talk about the playoff race MLB.
There's still some teams trying to get there. And also
just like the field, like there's a lot of good teams.
This is gonna be interesting playoffs. Also, I want to
get your take on Joe Madden in Chicago on whether
or not this guy only Cubs manager to make it
to the playoffs four years in a row and they're
(01:26:26):
not gonna make They didn't, you know, they're not making it.
This shit they eliminated, so it looks like he's gonna
be pushed out. Uh. This is a this is a
trend in Major League Baseball where they don't want to
pay those older guys big money. They're paying you want
to get a manager for less than a million dollars.
They don't look at it as as as that situation.
And then the last part of this baseball UH trio
(01:26:48):
is the Trout Bregman debate. You know, some people don't
think Trout deserves an MVP because he wound up getting
hurt and not finishing the season, and other people say
his numbers were still that awesome and maybe he does.
We'll do that and much more. It's the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio, Stick and Stay America. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris
(01:27:10):
Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern, four
pm Pacific. Come on, Jonas, Ready since Jersey Shore. Because
it's different strokes. It takes different strokes. It takes different
strokes to move the world. Everybody's got them. Come on, Jonas,
(01:27:31):
is this the theme song for that charger security guard?
Sorry about that. I'm just looking for change in that
front pocket. You know I'm a little moist. Different strokes. Yes,
on a TV theme song. Thursdays, The Odd Couple, Rob
Parker and Jonas knocks in for Chris Broussard and guess
(01:27:54):

list price and in boys, True Car shows you what
other people pay for the car you want, so you
can recognize a good price when you're ready to buy
a new ore used car. Visit True Car to enjoy
a more confident car buying experience. And uh, right now
(01:28:15):
that the Eagles just scored its ten to seven Eagles
and we have that touchdown ball at the six Wentz
looking looking fires complete touchdown. He's got his band shot
Jeffrey and that was from WIP, the Eagles Radio Network. So, hey, alls,
we got a ball game. It's ten to seven, ten
(01:28:37):
and a half minutes to go in the first time touchsdown?
Hey galls, is that your Harry Carry impression? Hi man,
I'm really good at doing impersonations of announcers. You want
to hear my Harry Carry? Rob Parker? That was pretty good.
I liked it, Hi cup flows, Rob Parker up to bath.
You know Parker's spell back for just probably everybody Howard
(01:29:04):
counted here. That's pretty good. Chris Collinsworth speaking of I mean,
I gotta tell you this, Rob Parker. Every time he
turns on the mike, there's some sort of a baggage
for that he's got, Like you're in the Will, the
Will Vote, the liszt boone, I mean rocking this boat
whatever it is, Rob Parker. Golly, that's pretty good. Yeah,
(01:29:24):
you know what, I go so far back in Cincinnati.
He used to have a talk show in Cincinnati. Did
you notice, Yes, his with Andy Furman. They had a
show together a long long time. Yes, And I used
to be on his show back then before he went
to do the National Football stuff, and uh he's he's
pretty good. Talk about a guy who figured out his
post playing career broadcasting wise. He's fantastic, he really is.
(01:29:47):
And doesn't pull punches. We'll tell it how it is.
And speaking of Cincinnati, I do want to like just
give a shout out to Marty Brennaman after forty six
years today was his last game doing Cincinnati Reds game games.
What a great guy, great broadcaster. And I'm gonna give
you my quick Marty Brennaman story. Ryan Samberg was Ryan Samberg.
(01:30:10):
You'll love this. Ryan Sandberg had an erreless streak going.
And uh so we're in Cincinnati in the press box
at Wrigley Field and Ryan Samberg misplays a ball playing
and simple, I don't know what else to call it.
They called it a hit. The official score, right, they've
(01:30:30):
caught it it. So to keep a streak a lot.
You know what Marty did? Marty I could see him
from the press box. I can look to where the
broadcast booth is. He takes his headphones off, he slams
them on the desk. He walks into the press box
and he says, that's horse believe blah blah, blah, no wonder,
(01:30:50):
no wonder. The mfor has an erreless streak. I mean,
it was unbelievable. And here's Marty Brennaman today his final game,
Red's broadcaster. After forty second, I want to reiterate what
I said earlier. I don't I don't feel like that
all the hullabaloo that has been created over me retiring
(01:31:15):
has been misplaced. I feel like the people that welcome
me into the city when I came in nineteen seventy
four and have maintained that love and affection through all
these years, they're the ones that I should be giving
(01:31:38):
back to rather than they give to me. And I'm
proud to say that I'll be here until the day
that they pass muster on me for the final time.
I'm proud to say I'm a Cincinnatian. And for those
who are here today and for those who are listening
wherever they might be, and just know how much you're
loved and how much you're appreciate rated. That's all I got. Yeah, man,
(01:32:03):
that is so hard felt, it is, I mean, it
really really is. Yeah. That's um. Yeah, So why didn't
he return your text again? He's busy this is. I'm
sure he's busy with what's going on. And Marty Brennaman,
someone was telling me, I've heard nothing but good things
about him. Great guy, just an absolutely great guy. But
(01:32:24):
I believe are you ready for this? He replaced al Michaels. Yeah,
that's right, is not the story. Al Michaels was the
broadcaster there and Marty Brennaman took over in the seventies
and all the way through this time. I mean, think
about how much has happened since then, since that's crazy
forty six years. What you can understand why he's so
(01:32:45):
emotional and God bless Marty Brennaman. His son, Tom Brennaman
does the football games for Fox. I know Tom real well,
and when I first came to Cincinnati, open Arms helped me.
Just just a great guy. And it's there's something about
the voices that are the soundtracks for your youth. When
you grow up, you never forget them and you can
remember just sort of how oh, you know, That's what
(01:33:06):
I associate with. And I guess maybe it's more you know,
not as much nowadays because a lot of the great
long time broadcasters that have moved on. But I grew
up when when we got I mean we didn't have
much of anything grown up. We grew up poor. But
when we when when WGN became an option for us,
right and we got to watch the Cubs one that
(01:33:26):
Harry Carey who called every home game, and it was
Josh Lewin who did the road games. But every time
there was a home game, just getting to hear about
this guy that you heard about your whole life, and
you actually got to hear them, it was awesome, like
you genuinely look forward to it. And for I mean
we're talking generations for years and years, forty something years
people have grown up in Cincinnati listening to Marty Brennaman.
(01:33:50):
And now there's just a changing of the guard. It's
different end of a New York. Just like when Vince
Gully called it quits here in Los Angeles, you know,
it's the same thing. People well heartbroken. Know the first
time I ever came out to Dodgers Datum to coover
a game, and this was what was so incredible was
when you walk amongst the crowd, everybody had a radio
(01:34:10):
playing Vince Gully. They were at the game, but they
still wanted to hear Vince Scully. How how many Vince Scully,
how many times have you ever heard that? That's incredible
and it's you remember the old Steve was so Steve Bartman.
You remember when that play happened in Chicago. You remember
the costume. Everybody dressed up as the costume was Steve
Barton Bartman wearing the headphones and the and the walkman,
(01:34:33):
and that was part of his costume. And the thing
that never got talked about is that he was such
a legitimate fan that he had to hear the radio
call of what was happening while it was going on.
And that wasn't just a yeah, that wasn't just a
only in the playoffs things for Dodger fans. They did
that every game, every single game, because they had to
(01:34:55):
hear Vin's voice even though they were at the ballpark. Yeah. Right,
that's what made the game all right? Real quick, im,
I want to ask you about the Trout Bregman thing
for al MVP. Do you eliminate a guy because he
couldn't finish the season and one of his numbers or
he had a spectacular season. I mean, that's why he
was in the race. And does Bregman had the edge
because of it, he's gonna miss how many games of
(01:35:16):
the season. Is Mike Trout gonna miss twenty games? About
twenty games? Yeah, I think it's Yeah, it's that's big
enough for me that I would be willing to dock
him on something like that. But I will also acknowledge,
and you know this, that when there's a really tight
vote on something like that, they're going to use whatever
they can as a process of elimination. And I think
(01:35:38):
he's going to be eliminated because of that. I think
the same thing happened. You remember a couple of years ago,
Derek Carr was in the Conversation or MVP and he
got hurt the second to last game of the season
in the game, and because of that, they said, oh,
he's done for MVP, And I thought to myself, We'll
wait a second. He probably wasn't going to play the
last game anyway, So you're telling me because the two quarters,
all of a sudden he's out, Like that's just how
(01:35:59):
this works. But this is a bigger sample size, and
I think there's enough there for them to want to
dock him on that. It caused Carson wins the MVP. Yeah,
Carson wentz was hurt and missed two and a half games. Right,
he was hurt. It was more than that. No, no, no,
he was hurting. Like the first halfs he missed a
second half it was a game, Okay, Week fourteen was it?
And then he missed the last two games. He still
(01:36:20):
had more touchdowns and less interceptions than Brady, But Brady
won the MVP because he played the entire season. Yeah,
but when it comes down to difficult votes like that,
it's I always make the same comparison. If you're hiring
somebody and you've got really two really good candidates, and
it's a really tough decision. Sometimes you just go all right,
who's gonna screw this up first? And if you see
(01:36:41):
one person's resumes a little bit sloppier than the other
ones as far as they're spelling, you eliminate that person
to justify in your mind why you made the decision
when the reality is it's too close to call, but
you're looking for a reason to cut somebody out, that's
what'll happen. It's a tough spot. And the do you
have a vote for that, you have a vote for
the right to Hall of Fame. No, most of the
(01:37:02):
most of the votes go to the beat writers who
cover the teams in different cities and they mix it around,
so that is not the same all the time. You know,
the same guys voting for what are you going? What
are you guys gonna start voting in? Some of those
guys that were on the gas when they played I
mean Peed it's coming, they've voted some in already, so
we already know that, all right. Coming up next on
the Odd Couple, Ray Boom Boom Man CD, Yes, Fox
(01:37:25):
Sports Boxing Analysts. He's gonna talk about the Spence Junior
Porter fight Saturday at Staples Center, So we'll dive into that.

(01:38:09):
The only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.
It's funny that this whole U Philadelphia Eagles are about
to get to replay on this a fumble call and
touchdown that they say, yeah, but you're all you're into replay,
you would like to like every play should be replaying
what I think they should do. Enough with this, You
can only review this. You can only review that. Make
(01:38:31):
everything reviewable, but you give coaches five You give coaches
the same number of challenges, but you can challenge anything
you want anything. So if you think there's holding up
there is a face mask that wasn't called offensive, past interferance, defensive,
past interference, encroachment, whatever, same number of challenges. But make
(01:38:51):
everything reviewable so that way, if somebody misses something, then
we see whether or not they got the call right.
I just I don't like this whole. You can review this,
but you can't you that if we want to get
the calls right, which should be the ultimate goal, then
we should be able to challenge anything we want. Totally disagree.
I think it would just kill sports just for us.
Just imagine, here we go this unbelievable Super Bowl minute
(01:39:15):
a moment right, and then they go, oh no, wait
a minute, there was holding on the offensive line somewhere,
find it, stopping and find it. And then that great
moment is the game went in touchdown. The whole situation
and what they do that didn't happen, Let's do it
over again. We would be there at just holding on
every play, their penalties everywhere. It would be ludicrous. It's
(01:39:38):
okay with human beings. That's why they put a racers
on pencils. People make mistakes, you overcome. I don't need
everything to be perfect. There's nothing in life that's perfect.
We don't need a football game that's perfect. So I'm sorry. Moral,
the story is Rob Parker, if you can get away
with it, he can done shoplifting. Go away with it. Moral,
(01:39:59):
the story here accord to Rob Parker. If you can't
get away with it. Don't want what I'm saying. I
just don't. I don't want to live that that life.
I don't want to. I don't want to robot Umpire
making the car. I don't. We've been watching these games forever.
What game? What game was ruined? For you by a
by an officials call give me, give me the game.
What you what, it would traumatize you for the rest
of the lot. It's not gonna traumatize I don't have
(01:40:21):
a vested interest in it. But what I'm telling people
in New Orleans, Okay, yeah, but I'm look, they had
opportunities to win that game. Tough balls, they didn't win
that game. I don't feel bad for Saints fans. They're
still good to one like. I don't feel bad for
him at all. But my whole point is, if don't
you want to get the game right, and then this
whole idea that well, they're gonna take too long. These
games are gonna take too long. What do you care.
(01:40:44):
We're not digging ditches, We're not laying tile on on
roof somewhere in the middle of the sun. And in August,
we're watching sports. So you gotta stay up a little
bit later to watch a game so they can get
it right and we get the right outcome of a game.
People are just they just want to reason, to bitch
and moans. No, it's not that everything reviewable. I don't
want to It's like college It's like college football, college
(01:41:04):
basketball over officiated and overcoached. They stopped to play. Stop.
We don't want to watch the officials. I don't want
to see the officials on my screen when instead of
the players, I want to watch the game. I think
those guys I don't I don't want to know their names.
I don't want them to get any airtime. Stop it.
When's the last time you watch college basketball before March?
(01:41:25):
I can't remember about what I did. It was bad.
It was bad, and that was my problem. All right, Well, look,
I guess we'll just agree to disagree here. I mean,
I don't believe you want that comment. I just man,
I want I want them to get it right. I'm
tired of this. You can review that and you can't
review this. I just think it should be I understand
a review. And if you want to do it for
(01:41:47):
a few for a few calls, I mean, you know,
a few situations, but but we're not going to do
it for every single thing. I just don't want that.
I just don't want that type of game. Okay, what
if you had money on a game and it was
called it happens. It happens all the time. What is
that going to be the end? Of the world, right
you all hockey, You of all people who literally won't
(01:42:07):
go to Elpoya Loco ten feet away because they up
the price on diet cokes by ten cents. And you're
telling me if you had money on a game and
you got screwed by a holding penalty, you wouldn't throw
your arms up in the air and cause a fit.
It's the principal love it. You ripped an airline. You
were left on a tarmac for for longer than Lane
Kiffin before he got fired, and you complained and rip
(01:42:28):
the airline on Twitter, and I got a fifty dollars
you did, of course you did. Imagine if you had
money on a game and you got jobbed because there
was a crummy call during this game. But there's so
many It happens all day. It's just it's a part
of it. You understand what's going on, and you just say, hey,
this is this is the world we live in. Humans
are not perfect. And there are games I can remember
(01:42:51):
in nineteen eighty six, should we take away when a
guy makes a definite era and say, well he should
have made that play. They shouldn't win a World series
because that's really an out if he catches that ball
and steps on the bag, we shouldn't count that. Do
you want to correct that? Listen because the guy makes
a mistake. Do you want robot MPs? No? I don't.
All right, So you want human air involved, I'm fine
(01:43:12):
with that. The game has been good for one hundred
and fifty years. I agree, and I also am. I
don't want robot ms I want humans to call it
because I like that element to it. But I also
would like humans to be able to be corrected on
if they make a mistake, and if it's a big
enough stay and it's egregious enough, there should be somebody
there that should look at it and go, hey, we
got that one right, we got that one wrong, let's
fix it. And we've done that so far. Right, that's
(01:43:34):
where we are now. It is a situation where you're
looking at it and you're giving people a few chances
for a big play. But I don't want to see
every holding call looked at and every time somebody gets
a big gainer, they're looking for some sort of situation.
I don't want the action to be stopping. I don't
want to watch I want every football game to look
(01:43:55):
like Downtown Manhattan, yellow everywhere, cabs everywhere. I want to
see yellow flags wewhere in the NFL. I want to
see it all. I love it. Milk the time, Milk
the time. Enough with this, this crummy officiating. They miss
a call. We can't challenge that. We can only challenge this.
You can't use that and make everything reviewable. Do it
the right way. I'll never thought through that. Guy. Man,
(01:44:15):

(01:44:59):
Song Thursday today. Rob, You know I was going all
out for you. My goodness, nothing but good shows. I
get some songs. I like, Jonas, you don't watch TV,
that's all right, Jersey Shore doesn't count. No, No, I
played it once. He said it wasn't the theme song.
You didn't even know it was what theme song it
was because it wasn't Jersey Shore. It was all right?
What about well, not to hit the Hill stinks? What
about like like HBO shows hour four? Hour four? All right, yeah,
(01:45:23):
hour four. We'll open up hour four a true Detective.
We'll do a little bit True Detective. It is The
Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio, putting it bed another
one and uh, what a fun show. Great to be
with Jonas filling it for Chris Boussard, who returns tomorrow.
He'll be back, uh for the Friday edition of The
Odd Couple. Well, he's been working hard, man, he's been uh,
(01:45:44):
you know, he's really grinding this week. Oh yeah, I
mean you're the one mailing it didn't rob As always right,
all the other stuff that I don't do to Parker.
So here we go, and I guess my my question
to you would be, oh we got a problem. Oh yeah,
all right. So, uh, A strip sack of Aaron Rodgers
is big after the Eagles went up fourteen thirteen on
(01:46:07):
a touchdown pass to Goddard Aaron Rodgers on a strip sack.
Now and Philadelphia has got the ball in prime field position,
up fourteen thirteen in the first half. So look, Philadelphia
is still a really talented team, man. And look, we
talked about it earlier. There's a lot on the line
in this game. You cannot go down this mini games.
(01:46:29):
So the Dallas Cowboys in that division and now you
so we said it early said it's more pressure on
Philly in this game than there is Green Band. I agree,
And because you're fighting for your season and they are
a good team. They got some issues, but they're riding
the game here. And if they could punch this one in,
this is where you're Packer defense. Yeah, well you got
(01:46:50):
you gotta hold them to a field goal. And the
Packer defense has been kind of cut up tonight, you
know what I mean, the kind of gassed. This is
the one what you gotta hold him. If you could
hold them to a field goal, then you it's not
the end of the world. Otherwise you still have to
look at it and say, you up seven to nothing,
and now you're you know what I mean to start
the game and now you're looking at it and you're
down twenty one. Yeah, and look if you're one, and
(01:47:12):
the way and the way that these schedules work out,
when you're the home team and you've got the Thursday
night game, you have every advantage in the world because
it's it's one. It's a short week, so the other
team hasn't had time to prepare. This is also a
non division game, so it's not like they play each
other twice twice a year, so it's not like they
see each other a bunch of times. So if you're
the Philadelphia Eagles, you go into this game understanding we're
(01:47:35):
really behind the eight ball. Green Bays takes advantage of this.
They're they're four and oh the the on the year
so far, and they've won two games in the division,
you know, yeah, or three and o on the year
so far. But if they go up, they go four
oh on the year through four weeks two and oh
in the division. They win this one on a short week,
and then you've got the Bears and Vikings playing that
you've already beat this week, so it's really a pivotal
(01:47:57):
game Green Bay and Philadelphia comes in short underman because
of all the injuries to Shaun Jackson's not there and
Philadelphia looks good right now, then they punch it in.
Absolutely they fall down in the first green Bay scored
a touchdown on its first possession, but since then and
they got the yards they have forty set only forty
seven yards to ninety seven for the for Philadelphia. So well, yeah,
(01:48:22):
if you're if you're Aaron Rodgers and the Packers not
the way you want to finish it. And the Eagles
will score two touchdowns in the two times they've been
in the reds. And look, we talked about this early on.
One of the knocks on the Packers offense this early
in the season has been on third down. They're one
of the worst teams in the league. In this game
near the goal line, they had two opportunities on third down.
(01:48:44):
Twice they had a third down they couldn't convert, they
had to settle for two field goals. Thus the Eagles
got two touchdowns and have a one point lead now exactly.
And if you don't get both of them, you don't
have to get them all, but to shoot to get
one of the two, you know what I mean, Like
like you can't give up in your own in your
own uh home, you know, in your own ballpark, you
should be able to punch it in. And they weren't able.
(01:49:05):
They moved the ball. We saw that they were moving
the ball. I don't think that was the issue, but
that is where we are. We do we have that
sound from Tom Brady. Just want to like play this
real quick. Tom Brady talking about maybe he's not gonna
play until he's forty five. You know, it's a contact sport,
so I wouldn't say I'm a spring chicken anymore. So
I'm trying to just you know, feels great as I can,
(01:49:26):
and um, let see how goes tomorrow. So there's your guy,
Tom Brady now, And now does that just give you
a little bit of hope because he has been your nightmare?
Tom Brady has been your nightmare. Did you just see it? This? This?
Just did you see this, Gavin? This story It says
Lakers lose Kyle Kuzman definitely due to a foot injury.
I did just that. Yeah, yeah, and uh yeah, we're
(01:49:50):
definitely going to talk about that. Um after football season.
I think that's when we're gonna get to that story. Wow,
mistaken so the Eagles did score twenty thirteen with the
minute to go in the UH in the first half
the first half, and so Philadelphia with an extra point
can go up by eight here at Green Bay. And
(01:50:10):
this is this is as good of a first half
as you could ask for. And now, look, this is
another thing we talked about earlier in the show. At
some point, Aaron Rodgers, having played the game for as
long as he can underneath the restrictions of this offense,
at some point Aaron Rodgers is gonna say, man, let
me do what I do. At some point you said that,
and this might and this might be the night I
(01:50:31):
think this second half, Aaron Rodgers is going to if
there's any if there's going to be a time early
in the season where Rogers tells Matt Laflour, hey, man,
I got this all right. This isn't working. That's not working.
We're not getting any right, we're not getting enough points
we got we gotta do something else. Let me improvise,
let me do what I've always done. And we got
a pretty good defense. Not tonight, but we got a
(01:50:53):
pretty good defense. And Rogers was holding his hand on
that last strip sack when he came off the field.
I saw him, Yeah, I saw him throwing after that. Yeah.
You always whenever the ball is stripped down from you
and you get hit, you got to always protect that
hand and hope that nothing happened. So they're the Eagles.
All would a minute to go, and you know, you
know that Philadelphia fan base, if they win this game,
(01:51:15):
they're gonna be really polite about it. No trash talking
all from the of course not no. But they have
a good team and and they were fighting for their lives.
I stayed away from this game as far as betting. Yea,
even though the Packards have played well and it's at
home and the Eagles. Situations when a team is playing
for its life. I remember last year called the Lions
(01:51:37):
over the Patriots. I don't know if you remember. Lions
were coming off a couple of bad losses. Patriots were
rolling and I was like, if the page, if the
Lions lose, their season is over and they wind up
beating it. It's also championship pedigree. There's a lot of
guys on that team has won a super Bowl recently.
They know what they're doing. They also won at Chicago
in a playoff game a year ago. They should have
probably won at New Orleans as well too. If we're
(01:51:59):
being honest, this is a team with a lot of
heart and a lot of championship pedigrees, no doubt about it.
