So as we found out Matthew Stafford. We don't know
the numbers yet, at least I have not seen the
numbers yet. But Matthew Stafford is back with the LA
Rams and he's back on a restructured deal after having
conversations with the Raiders, having potential discussions with the New
(01:54):
York Giants. But Matthew Stafford is back with the LA Rams.
And you know, when you just look at it, it's
one of those things that you're really glad. Whether it
was money, whether it was family, whether it was the
Rams themselves, you're really glad that he got talked out
of the idea of going elsewhere, because it would have
(02:15):
been a terrible idea. I can remember the first time
I walked into a tattoo parlor and looking around, they've
got these different designs on the walls, and for people
that have never gotten a tattoo done, they've got all
these different designs on the wall. They've got this booklet
that they'll open up to show you all their artwork,
(02:36):
and some of it's amazing, and then some of it
kind of sucks. How do I know that I happened
to pick two? This sucked. But point is you're kind
of looking around and you're getting some ideas and maybe
you know what you want, or maybe you have an
idea what you want, but the feeling is, here's some help.
This is what we've got. And I remember talking to
(02:58):
this guy and the place was called Jimmy's Tattoos in Portwayitimi, California,
not far from where the Cowboys training camp is in
Oxnard and all that. But I remember talking to the
guy there and being like, Uh, do you guys ever
give out free tattoos? He goes, yeah, there's one on
the wall that's free. Like which one's that? He goes,
(03:19):
it's right over there, and I go and I look
and it was OJ Simpson's mugshot. And I thought, Huh,
there's going to be somebody who walks into that tattoo
parlor who's half in the bag, says, I don't have
a lot of money, Can I get a tattoo? Well,
that one's free, f it? Why not? And years later
(03:43):
he's going to look back and go, Wow, that was
a horrible idea. That was a terrible idea. And I'm
telling you years from now, Matthew Stafford would have looked
back had he walked away from the Rams and realized, wow,
that was a terrible idea. Yeah, because if I just
said to you this, Hey, let's say Matthew Stafford is
(04:07):
not on the Rams, Hey, what's the best landing spot
for a quarterback in the NFL this offseason? Like, think,
Matthew Stafford not on the Rams any longer, what would
be the best landing spot for a quarterback this offseason?
It would be the Rams. If I said, okay, okay,
(04:29):
Matthew Stafford not on the Rams, who would be the
best quarterback on the market this offseason in the NFL
for a team that needed a quarterback, You'd go, oh,
Matthew Stafford. Okay. So let me get this straight. You
got the best team if you were a quarterback looking
(04:51):
for work, and you've got the best quarterback if you
were a team looking for work from a quarterback. So
why would is there even a discussion about leaving? Why? Well,
it's about money. It's about apparently the Raiders. You know,
we're looking at two years, one hundred million. I don't know.
Maybe the Rams got him for two more years and
(05:12):
one hundred and one million whatever. And I shared my
thoughts on it last week. Look, dude, the guy's I
mean he's made three sixty plus in his career. I mean,
not including endorsement. I mean, you know, like geez, I mean,
at the end of his career, he's probably going to
have made a half billion dollars, like legitimately a half
(05:33):
billion dollars now taxes. Okay, fine, I'll tell you what,
Give me a half billion dollars and go take whatever
you want from taxes. I'm good. That's fine. Go do
what you gotta do. But the point is it never
made any sense for him to want to go elsewhere,
(05:55):
or for them, for that matter, to entertain the idea
of him going elsewhere. The Eagles just put on a
pretty impressive Super Bowl run. They annihilated Washington in the
NFC title Game. They clowned the Chiefs in the Super
Bowl like we've never seen the Chiefs get clowned before. Yes,
(06:19):
it was worse than what Brady and the Bucks did
to him in Tampa few years ago. They clowned Kansas City.
And that's a dynasty in the midst of a dynasty
going for history full blown clown job except for the Rams,
because the Rams nearly beat Philly in terrible conditions on
(06:44):
the road in the postseason, So they clowned everybody else
except for the Rams. And you mean to tell me
that team, with the way they've drafted recently and what
they're building there, that Matthew Stafford would be like, no, no, no,
and I'm gonna go elsewhere. I'm gonna go chase some
extra money. And it never made sense, and it never
(07:07):
made sense for the Rams to lose him. You finish
this out, you're a legitimate contender to win another super
Bowl in the NFC. And so when you look back
at it, it's one of those things to where years
from now you wish you had somebody around you be like, hey, dude,
terrible idea.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
You know.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
It's like having a kid with somebody you break up
with because you find out, hey, maybe you know they
don't have it all there upstairs, and you go, man,
I wish somebody would have told me. I wish somebody
would have told me because it would have saved me
a lot of time, a lot of money. It's like, Okay,
now we know Matthew Stafford's not going to look back
and go what was I thinking? Because him leaving LA
(07:52):
would have been a horrible idea for everybody involved. Jonas
Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knocks on
X at the Jonas Knocks on X, and he can
hang out with us as always on the iHeartRadio app.
All right, So I will say this that there is
something to be in a good salesman. There really is. Now.
I tried sales. I was not good, really not good
(08:14):
at all. It's what pushed me to want to pursue
this because I realized I couldn't cut it there, terrible awful,
not even couldn't close anything, just not good at it.
But there's something about Shador Sanders. All right. Now, I
know he's got critics, and there's some people that look
(08:35):
and go, well he's got this, and we nitpick him
and cam Ward's better and all this. Okay, all that's fair.
But here was Shador Sanders talking about his evaluation what
he brings to NFL teams while speaking to the media
in Indianapolis on Friday.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
We went from Jackson State to Colorado and changed two
programs back to back. So you don't think I could
come to NFL franchise and change the program again. It's
history redone it again. It's always gonna repeat itself. If
you ain't trying to change the franchise or a coach
that don't give me. So you should know history repeats
itself over and over and over. And I've done it
(09:11):
over and over and over. So it should be no
question why NFL franchise speaking.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
I don't know whether or not he's going to be
a good quarterback or not. I have no clue. Nobody does.
I don't know where he's gonna end up. I don't
know who's going to draft him. I don't know where
he's going to get drafted. I don't know if he's
going to rise on draft boards or fall on draft like.
I have no idea, but I'll say this. You hear
the guy talk and he's a really good salesman. He's
(09:41):
just like his dad. Because I heard that and I thought, well, damn,
I mean if he's that call, like what like that's
a lot of call. It's like a fighter who sells
a fight that really doesn't have a chance at winning,
and then you watch the fight and you go, oh, yeah,
that guy had no chance. But the build up and
the selling of the fight was so good that you
(10:03):
were convinced. And when I hear Shoud or Sanders talk,
I don't know how this map's out. I don't know
what it looks like. But it's hard to argue with
what he said. He did it in multiple spots in college,
he moved around, he dealt with different coordinators. You cannot
(10:24):
like the fact that he had a team that was
videoing him the entire time to use for his social
media while he was at the Combine. You cannot like
the fact that you know, you know he's a little
bit cocky you want to call him that, or you
don't like that he maybe called out a teammate once
or twice while at Colorado, or that they didn't win
a national title or didn't get to a college football player.
(10:46):
You cannot like a lot of things about Shaud or Sanders.
But what he said was true. I've done it in
multiple spots. I did it at Jackson, I did it
at Colorado. I've already proven that I can do it
at the next level. And so when I hear the
guy speak like that at the Combine and Indy, I
(11:07):
have no idea whether or not it works. Out. But
he's really damn convincing. And there's something to be in
a great salesman, because if they can sell you on
the idea, then you turn it over and you say,
all right, we'll give it a whirl and let's see
how this works out. And if he gets in the
right spot, something tells me it's going to map out
(11:29):
for him. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the
Jonas Knocks on X at the Jonas Knox on X

this two hour extravaganza. But coming up next, the Boogeyman
(11:50):
is alive and well in the NFL, and he ain't
even there to respond. Find out who we're talking about. Now,
we don't need to bring Jonas in.

Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up a little over
ten minutes from now here from the tire Rack dot
Com studios. You got to give credit where credit's due,
even if you don't want to, you got to give
credit where it's due. We'll have that discussion for you
here and again a little over ten minutes from now
here on FSR. Hey, I'll say this for what it's worth.
(12:38):
I can remember when COVID was going on. I remember COVID.
Everybody remember COVID. You remember back in the day, there's
like this little thing that was staying. It was like
this little nickel and dime pandemic called COVID. Like people
were like, you know, wiping down their groceries and getting
all masked up and you know, getting shot up and
then boosted to outer space multiple times over just to
(13:02):
make sure that like everything was safe and getting no judging, Like, hey,
is what it is. You know, we were all there.
Everybody saw it, everybody experienced it, you know, and as
it turns out, you know, after the fact, you know,
maybe maybe some people weren't telling the truth. But again, hey,
that was just a time. But I remember during that
time that there was the discussion that was keeping us
(13:27):
afloat and it was the Dak Prescott contract because there
was real debate as to whether or not he was
going to get a deal done. And once they finally
did get the deal done, I went on the air
and I thanked Dak Prescott and the Cowboys because at
least they gave us some stuff to talk about, because
there was no sports really outside of you know, the
(13:48):
UFC was doing stuff, and you know, like, of course,
you know, me being a UFC fanboy, I was all
into that, but there was really nothing else going on.
So everybody was like, you know, god, what are we
going to talk about? And I'm like, hey, man, be
thankful Dak Prescott and the Cowboys are keeping us afloat.
So after the deal got done, I you know, gave
him a salute, said thank you, appreciate it. He gave
(14:10):
us content. And I'll say this, there's probably a lot
of people that cover the NFL that should be giving
a salute and a thank you to Matthew Stafford and
the Rams. It was very Dallas Cowboys esque. Ultimately, it
dragged out, there was discussions, there was different angles. There
was a near fight between reporters at a Starbucks there, which,
(14:31):
by the way, Jordan Schultz would have worn his ass out.
I got Schultz by a mile in that fight. But
the point is at least provided us something to discuss
other than whose offensive tackle has short arms and who
doesn't like at least provided us some content. So I'll
(14:53):
say this, it ended up being exactly the way I
think a lot of people anticipated it being. It got
a little dice see there, depending on the reports you
followed and believed, but ultimately they did get us through
what some have perceived to be the quote unquote slow
time in sports. So for that, I think we all
owe a big thank you and a debt of gratitude
(15:14):
to the la Rams and Matthew Stafford for getting the
deal done and for potentially not getting a deal done,
which gave us something to talk about. Jonas Knox here
on Fox Sports Radio. By the way, before we get
into the Boogieman in the world of football, I want
to remind you that you can stream this show and
all of our Fox Sports Radio shows live twenty four
(15:35):
to seven and the new and improved iHeartRadio app. Just
search Fox Sports Radio in the app to stream us live,
and one of the newest features in the app is
that you can select Fox Sports Radio as one of
your presets, just like the presets on a radio dial.
So be sure to preset Fox Sports Radio in the
iHeartRadio app and it will always pop up at the
top of your screen. So we have identified the boogieman
(15:59):
of the NFL. Yeah, the Boogeyman, Like you probably shouldn't
be scared, you probably shouldn't be threatened. But there's something
about him, you know, like something about him that just
gotta be careful, gotta be careful. So when you're a kid,
(16:22):
you know, my son's going through that a little bit.
He's convinced like, hey, there's something over there. I don't know.
It's like, no, well, look it's not you know, it's
just you know, your mom's hat hanging on the wall.
Like I can assure you it's not an orb it's
not a flying saucer. It's not spacecraft coming up from
the ocean, like I can assure you it's your mom's
(16:45):
hat that she spent way too much money on and
is worn once. But the point is the Boogeyman doesn't
need to really be a legitimate threat. He just needs
the perception of the threat in order to have a
(17:08):
real impact. And a real effect. And apparently the Boogeyman
of the NFL is none other than North Carolina head
football coach Bill Belichick. This is wonderful. So if you
hadn't seen the news that came out, now, Bill, trust me,
(17:31):
you're adding a lot. You were adding in time. Now Bill,
we're gonna address it now. All right, you don't tell
me how I run this show. Okay, thank you, with
all due respect. I don't know if you happen to
see this, but you remember what a disaster hard Knocks
the off season of the New York Giants was. Do
(17:52):
you remember that? Like? Like I mean, listen. It went
great for everybody who watched. It went great for each
but it didn't go real well for the New York
Giants and Joe Shane and the front office there as
the negotiations with Saquon Barkley were played out on television
and as it turned out, boy what a swing and
(18:13):
a miss kind of screwed that one up. It was
basically the joke the entire year as the guy they
let walk because they were nickel and Dimingham to a
division rival that the owner didn't want to happen, ended
up having a near historic season, won a Super Bowl,
kind of worked out well for him and worked out
horribly for Joe Shane and the Giants. And so you
(18:37):
looked at that and said, man boy, what a terrible idea.
That was.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
Whoa.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
But instead it's back because the next offseason installment of
Hard Knocks is going to feature Bill Belichick and the
North Carolina tar Heels. The football team at North Carolina
is going to be featured on the next edition of
Hard Knocks. Now I look at this and I go,
(19:04):
this is awesome. I'm interested. I want to watch. First
of all, Belichick is fantastic at television. He's great. If
there's a reason why he had so many opportunities afterwards
because people saw what he did on the NFL network
when he did the countdown of the one hundred greatest players.
(19:26):
I believe you might have even won an Emmy for it.
He was phenomenal. And so when you see him doing
all of these other things, whether it's podcasts or TV
shows or appearances and all that, you know, God, that
doesn't seem like Belichick. No, he's great at it, just
like Nick Saban's great at it. And so Belichick is
going to be featured on hard Knocks, and I'm going
(19:46):
to watch and I'm more likely to watch this than
I would have an NFL team because it's Belichick. Also
because it's a different vantage point, it's a different look.
One of the greatest shows on Netflix, in one of
my favorite shows the history of Netflix, was a show
called Last Chance.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
You.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
Now, some former players are suing because apparently they were misrepresented,
but it was about junior college football and players that
were on their last chance. They'd either burned a bridge
at a higher program they and so they went to
a junior college program and they did profiles on different
junior colleges throughout their time. I think it might have
(20:25):
lasted like four or five seasons, maybe something like that.
But it was great because you got to have access
into a place that you wouldn't have had access to
and you got to really see behind the scenes. Now
it may not be as in depth. Belichick is gonna
have final say in all that, but at least it's
a different perspective on football and a different looking hard knock.
(20:45):
So for that, I'm in. But apparently not everybody's in
on this because according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk,
he is learn that some owners aren't thrilled with the
decision to feature Belichick on an NFL owned platform, and
(21:08):
the feeling is, why are we doing this for that guy,
to which I asked the question, why do you care?
And the only reason you care is because there is
a h don't go near that guy vibe when it
comes to Belichick in the NFL. And if you don't
(21:30):
think that's the case, then I ask you this, how
come the greatest coach in the history of the league,
in two different hiring cycles, with a dozen plus jobs open,
well over a third of the league hiring coaches two
(21:51):
consecutive years, or with combining two years, how come that
guy only had one job interview during that in time
time that make any sense? Like I can understand, Well,
he took a year off, Okay, fair, so did Mike Rabel. Yeah,
but you know, like Mammy, he's a little bit older. Okay,
(22:13):
so was Pete Carroll multiple interviews landed a job. There
is something that is happening between Bill Belichick and owners
around the NFL, and I think it is hilarious how
Belichick is handling this. I think it's hilarious because he's
(22:36):
basically letting them know, by the way, I'm still here.
And if you think you can just shut me out
because of whatever reasoning you have, whether it's insecurity, because
you're worried I'm going to come in and want to
do things differently, because God forbid, the greatest coach of
all time would want to operate in a way that
he thinks would work. God forbid, He's letting everybody know. Oh,
(23:02):
you think I'm leaving right, You think I can't adapt,
You think I can't be a part of this world. Okay,
I'll just kind of surround the entire facility. That's what
I'll do. I'll just kind of happen to be in
the neighborhood. Hey, Bill, you're old. Listen man, your time
(23:24):
has passed. Yeah, okay, how about this? How about I
do like social media? How about I do podcasts? You know,
podcasts are you know, kind of important. You know this
talking kind of important. You know, might even win like
win people elections and stuff like that. But how about
Bill Belichick just looking around going Okay, So you don't
(23:46):
think I could be a part of all this. You
don't think I could work in today's climate. You think
my time has passed, You think it's outdated and whatever
I've done is not going to work. Watch this. Not
only I operate through the media in a way we
haven't seen other coaches do ever before. I'll also take
(24:09):
a job at another level, build the program exactly like
I would an NFL job, tease you with a small
buyout in case you did want to entertain the idea
of having me back. And I'm going to do all
of that understanding that there are owners in the league
who are terrified by bringing me in because I would
(24:32):
actually challenge them, because I would actually challenge the entire
structure of the organization. And by the way, organizations that
are hiring coaches probably need to be challenged. That's why
they're hiring coaches, because they were terrible the previous year.
He's doing all of this to let everybody know I'm
(24:53):
not going anywhere. I'm going to make you have to
tell me no. I'm gonna make you have to answer
questions as to why I didn't get interviewed, why I
didn't get an opportunity, why I wasn't involved in the
process multiple years in a row. I think it's hilarious,
and the fact that owners are not happy that Belichick
(25:15):
gets this opportunity tells you everything you need to know.
Whether Bob Kraft went around and kind of threw him
under the bus and called other owners and taught like
whatever he did. The fact that Belichick isn't allowed in
the house but instead has camped out in the front,
(25:36):
the sideyard, the backyard, and even taking a dip in
the pool. Lets everybody know, I'm not going anywhere easily,
and you're gonna have to deal with this moving forward.
Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas knocks
on X. At the Jonas Knocks on X, let's go
live to our I have a thought on Bill Belichick.
Insider Christophereff for the latest, Chris So.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
I happen to notice looking through some sports news the
other day, Jonas that the CW is going to be
turning a profit in twenty twenty six by their tracking.
And a large part of that, they say, is because
they've started broadcasting a lot of sports related content. And
who was the face of their inside the NFL on
the CW. It was Bill Belichick. Of course, he was there.
(26:17):
People tuned in for it.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Of course. And let's not even get into the well,
you know, he's he his time has passed. Okay, it's
literally dating somebody fifty years younger than him.
Speaker 5 (26:29):
By the way, this this, this preseason hard knocks. Nobody
in the in the league wanted it. Nobody want to
be embarrassed by the giants. Now they're it's it's like
you've left something on the side of the road saying
I don't want this, and someone's come and picked it up,
and now suddenly you're mad that that person got it
for free.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
Throw a little varnish on it, you know, and all
of a sudden it looks brand new. Like I just
I think it's hilarious. I love how terrified people are
of him, so threatened by the idea of Belichick still
kind of roaming the hallways of football somewhere. Jonas Knocks
here on sports Radio at the Jonas Knocks on X
at the Jonas Knox and X. All right, it's coming
up next year. We're gonna give credit where credit is due.
That'll be yours here in just a couple of moments
(27:07):
from now. But for all the ladies from around the
world of sports ladies and gentlemen, he is back. He
has decided.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
I know who butters my bread. Forget all the other
opportunities that are out there, there is nothing more prestigious
than sports talk radio on a Saturday, the one and
only Isaac Longkron.
Speaker 6 (27:31):
Can I tell you something as a friend, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
You don't have it today, Jonas. What I do wrong?
Speaker 6 (27:41):
It's not so much that it's that what you're thirty
five minutes into this at the Jonas knocks three complimentary tweets, Yeah,
zero negative tweets, zero trolls.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
You don't have it today. Step my game up. Tell
me who you want me to insult, I'll do it.
I can't do this show for you. I'm just saying
all this as a friend. Well, I'm letting you know
that if you doubt my ability to piss people off here,
because we're thirty five minutes in and I haven't done
it yet, you just wait buster. All right, all right,
I'm gonna turn it up.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
All right, we'll see because right now I got to
tell you it's twenty eight to three in the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
Okay, all right, all right, well listen, in honor of
my good buddy Bill Belichick, I'll go ahead, and I'll
go ahead and make it work and make the comeback
happen right now. I have faith.
Speaker 6 (28:31):
I have faith, so do fans of number one Auburn,
because they're in control at Rupp Arena, leading at seventeenth
rank Kentucky fifty four to thirty seven with seventeen twelve
remaining on the second half. Fine seventeen from Miles Kelly,
Chad Baker Mazzara has sixteen Kentucky shooting just thirty three
percent from the field at home. Number ten Texas Tech
(28:52):
with a thirty two to thirty lead at Kansas five
minutes left to play in the first half. And how
about this see Eaton Hall four minutes in a seven
to two lead at seventh ranked Saint John's. Well, yeah,
and we'll find out.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
Apparently, so I'm talking about PJ Carlissimo, Rick Patino.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
And by the way, just as I said that, Seaton
Hall just hit a three pointer in there an hour,
ten to two at Saint John's four and a half
minutes into the game. Number thirteen Clemson one in Virginia
today seventy one to fifty eight. Sixteenth ranked Maryland with
a sixty eight to sixty four win on the road
at Penn State. Finally, at the NFL Scouting Combine today,
Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Booker set the standard for the
(29:41):
best quote when he.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
Was asked today about his playing style.
Speaker 7 (29:46):
Listen, it is legal assault out there, and I love
football because the brand football that I play I like.
I mean, guys not love football anymore. And I do
that every day, every down by really just giving them
my all and letting them know I'm not gonna let up.
So looking I love the most bu fult taking a
level with from other people.
Speaker 6 (30:01):
For more, let's check in now with Fox Sports Radio
legal assault insider Jonas Knox Jones. Who is that again,
Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Booker.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
I mean, listen, it's sanctioned violence, you know, Like, hey,
you ask a lot of people like that. They got
into a bunch of street fights when they were a kid.
The second they started training professionally or went to a
boxing gym or an MMA gym or a jiu jitsu class,
they never gotten fights after that. They got out of
their system. Somebody like that, and their ability to play football,
(30:33):
I think saves us from an ass whooping on the streets.
Throw with that, Isaac. I'm not saying there's anything wrong
with that at all.
Speaker 6 (30:42):
You you can also say that the medium that you
and I were kid is also a form of legal assault.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Yeah, apparently you know, Like this listens mean out here.
I don't know what to tell people, Like what do
you want? It's not forever? Everybody? All right? Jonas Knox
here on Fox Sports Radio. Thanks to Isaac Longcron, who
will be with us here throughout the course of the show.
He's also going to keep us updated on any of
(31:10):
the negativity that flows through on social media about this show.
None thus far. So I feel like we're setting a
record forty minutes in and we are good to go.
All right. So at the Jonas Knox on X. At
the Jonas Knox and X coming up, we are going
to tell you how somebody deserves some credit. All right.
You may not want to do it, you may not
(31:31):
like them, but they do deserve a little bit of
credit credit where credit is due. In another edition of
do UK right here on FSR, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports
Radio coming up top of next hour about fifteen minutes
from now from the tire Raq dot Com studios. We're
going to tell you about multiple moves in the National
Football League that make way too much sense, way too
(31:55):
much sense for a lot of people involved. We will
explain again a little over fifteen minutes from now here
on FSR. A reminder, though, before we get into another
edition of Do You Care, that we do have a
Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel. There's a ton of great
videos from many of our Fox Sports Radio shows. Just
search Fox Sports Radio on YouTube you'll see a whole
(32:16):
bunch of video highlights from our shows. Be sure to
also subscribe so you always have instant access to our
Fox Sports Radio videos on YouTube.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time.
Dmzer reports, let's get kinky. Here's some of the big
stories from the last week. But Jonas, the real question
is do you care?
Speaker 1 (32:42):
And for that we turn it over to our executive producer,
Bo Benzon to find out what the hell people have
been talking about all week.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Bo Jonas the people's team, the Los Angeles Lakers. They
have won five games in a row, fifteen of their
last eighteen, and they win eight to zero against teams
above five hundred in the month of February. Jonas, do
you care?
Speaker 1 (33:02):
Yeah? And I'll say this, man like you cannot like
Lebert Listen, Lebron James, he's obnoxious, Like I get it,
like you know, the whole Uh, there's a lot there.
But I'll say this, I don't know if they're winning
a title this year. I think it's a bit far
fetched because defensively, I just I don't know that that
(33:25):
that you know is going to play out real well
in the postseason. But the addition of Luca, the way
Lebron has played with Luca there and Luca continues to
work back into shape coming off the injury and all
of that and whatever, you know, the hookah and the beers,
and I mean, listen, so the guy likes to live
a little bit, all right, kind of a break. They
(33:46):
are so much more entertaining and exciting to watch. They
were lacking something. There was no buzz. It had become
a Dodger's town. And the fact that they have added
this has chained the energy, the vibe throughout the entire organization.
How they play. There's something that's been added there above
(34:07):
and beyond well just you know, he's a great player,
well so is Anthony Davis. But and I've said this before,
Lebron and Ad had run its course it was tired.
I think people were over it, and now there's a
new energy in the building next.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
Ye not to spend too much time on that, but
I do. I don't know if you follow the Lakers
on social media, but they're posting these celebrities going to
games again, and there's actually a ton of different celebrities
that are now going to these Laker games. So it
does feel a bit like they're back on the rise.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
I mean, listen, you know front running is part of them.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
Yeah, that's true. LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell one of
the top prospects in this draft. He's getting some criticism
out of the combine due to his arm length measurements. Jonas,
do you care?
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Yeah, I think this stuff's hilarious. It's like hand size is.
It's all of these things that he can't do anything
about except play football at a high level, and he's
done it throughout his entire time in colleg and so
now this is apparently a big deal because there's like
a minimum he's got to meet for some analytic purpose
(35:07):
and he's an eighth of an inch all right, so
what do you want him to do? Hang from some
bars for like, go to a playground and hang from
the monkey bars for an hour each day to stretch
out his arms. It is what it is, dude. Either
you like what he did on film or you don't.
And if you don't want to draft him, don't draft him. Next.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
The Cleveland Cavaliers rallied from down twenty five to three
to beat the Boston Celtics last night. Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 1 (35:33):
No, God, don't look, boy, Hey, somebody made a run
in an NBA game in a regular season. Hey, I
just listen. Boston was without two starters. They're going to
meet in the playoffs most likely, and then we figure
it out that next.
Speaker 3 (35:48):
Joel Embiid he's going to miss the rest of the
season after being shut down due to continuing knee issues. Jonas,
do you care, no.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
Look, it's exactly what they should have done. They're trying
to protect their draft status. They've got a top six
protected pick, and so to bring him back. I mean, look,
it's already been a rough year for everybody involved. Paul
George has given up his podcast. Joelle Embiid is injured,
the Eagles won a Super Bowl. The Phillies are probably
gonna be good. Who cares about the Flyers. But the
(36:18):
point is if you're the Sixers, you just need a reset.
You need to get to the off season, try and
get him healthy and then make a return.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
Next show, Halo Tani. He returned to action in spring
training yesterday. He hit a home run in his first
and bat. Jonas, do you care, Yeah, yes, yes, I.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
Just I don't think people I know that people know
how good he is. I don't think they've really grasped
how good he is. Like we talk about man, you know,
like Travis Hunter, a two way player. I mean you
realize like we're seeing something we've never seen before, like ever.
(36:58):
And the thought that the Angels butchered this the way
that they did. You could say whatever you want about
Nico Harrison, the haveves. Nobody's got anything on what the
Angels did to not be able to figure it out
with not only Mike Trout but also show Hey o
Tani only to see one of them leave. It's hilarious.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
Next, Jonas, we have a special listener request for us. Next,
Do you Care? From San Diego? Brandon Truffa wants to know, Jonas,
do you care about San Diego FC's home opener tonight
in MLS oh God, no, oh I hate this.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
No, listen, we love truth, but we love truffles. No, yeah, listen,
he's the best. But God know, like I swear to God,
I'd rather watch my dog die again than go to
that game. That is just a wretched event to be at.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
Next tomorrow is the Academy Awards, jonas Hollywood's big night.
Do you care and what's your pick for Best Picture?
Speaker 1 (37:58):
I don't know who cares, Like I leave that to
losers like Lee to Lap who like to sit around
and watch the Oscars like it's just an entire room
full of blowhards. Everybody's full of crap. Everybody's a weirdo. Look.
I took acting classes years and years and years ago,
and there's a reason why I walked out in the
(38:21):
middle of an audition so that I could go see
who was winning a duke Kansas NCAA tournament game. That's
a true story. It's all these try hards that want
to like, oh, listen to I got to get in
the role, man, I got to get in the roo.
It's like, dude, would you just stop get a life,
either that or get a job, get a real job,
(38:43):
And instead we got to watch the Oscars. The moment
everybody remembers from the Oscars is Will Smith slaping somebody. Yeah,
so what it was? Assault? We get it. Kind of
a weird move, you know, from a weird guy who's
in a weird relationship over a joke that was harmless.
Like that, I get it. I get all that stuff.
I totally get. But like, you ban that guy for
(39:04):
what ten years? Ten years he got banned for, Like
you should have banned him for making bad movies. Instead
they banned him because he gave to you the moment
that everybody will remember at that award show forever and ever.
That and the SP's are an awful watch. That's terrible,
just terrible through and through. And so when we're sitting
(39:27):
here talking about, well, who's best Picture, best Actor, actress
in a leading role, Best Cinema, it's like, dude, can
we just speed up and get to the end of
this whole thing now. The one thing I would say this,
if you are gonna gamble on it, there's one person
you go to, and that man is Steve Hartman. Steve
(39:47):
Hartman has been spot on when it comes to making
his picks when it comes to the Oscars. For years
and years. So when Hartman comes on later, I'm just
telling you, listen to him. The man knows what he's
talking about, and he's gonna let you know how you
can make money on the oscars because other than that,
there's no reason to watch it whatsoever. And no, I
haven't seen any of the movies. Totally judgmental, but that's
(40:09):
what we do here. Well, you know, when you think
about it, it just makes more sense. It makes more
sense not only for one, not only for two, but
for three players involved in the world of football. We'll
get into that for you coming up here in just
a couple of moments from now, Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio.
(40:30):
You can hang out with us as always on the
iHeartRadio app. You can find us on hundreds of affiliates
all across the country and wherever you are making us
a part of your Saturday afternoon, we appreciate it. We
are going to take you all the way up until
the end of this hour four pm Eastern time, one
o'clock Pacific, and we do it all lot. We do
it the tire rack dot Com Studios, ti iraq dot Com.
(40:51):
We'll help you get there an unmatched selection, fast, free
shipping free, road hazard protection and over ten thousand recommended
installers tire Ra dot com the way tie buying should be.
So this just makes all the sense in the world.
We were talking about the Matthew Stafford decision. He is
back with the La Rams. If had he left, it
would have been a terrible idea. I can't imagine he
(41:13):
would have made that much more from whatever the Rams
have given him. We don't know the official number yet,
but there was a report out that the Raiders were
giving him or offering him two years on one hundred
million dollars that there might have been. By the way,
that one hundred million dollars guaranteed, you know, great money
if you can get it. It's not Massage Watson money,
but it's pretty, you know, a pretty significant number. And
(41:37):
there was the draft compensation that was being discussed. The
second round pick might have gotten it done that they
were willing to do. They weren't willing to give up
the number six pick overall, but the second round pick
probably could have gotten it done. So it was at
least somewhat close. And look, it was close enough to
get two reporters to nearly come and get into a
(41:57):
fight there at the combine in Indianapolis, but it at
least was somewhat close. When it comes to Matthew Stafford
potentially going elsewhere, Raiders Giants were on the tip, but
ultimately he ends up back with the La Rams. And
had he left to go anywhere ever than the La Rams,
(42:19):
I think it would have been a terrible idea. I
think it would have been an awful idea. They're the
best landing spot for a quarterback. He's the best quarterback
that would have been on the market. Why they couldn't
figure it out and work that out, I have no idea.
But they're back and now we wait to see what
the final numbers are. And so when you look at
the situation with Matthew Stafford and the Rams, that's the
(42:41):
one that made all the sense in the world, makes
way too much sense. But the dominoes now fall, and
the dominoes fall for a couple of other quarterbacks, Aaron
Rodgers being the first one. The Giants reportedly have now
(43:01):
transitioned from their pursuit of Matthew Stafford now that he
is unavailable. They're now transitioning and open minded to potentially
looking into the addition of Aaron Rodgers. So you look
at that and you go, all right, well, you know,
(43:21):
it feels like a consolation prize. You're going from Stafford
to Rogers. And then you know, you kind of look
back last year and you look at their numbers and
you go, huhuh, well maybe not, because Rogers did get
better towards the end of the year. He started getting healthier,
and he did get better towards the end of the year.
The Jets are still terrible. But I got news for you.
(43:42):
I mean, like, I mean, you know, fill in the blank, like, yeah,
the Jets are terrible. Yeah, of course. Like how many
times do you think a Jets fan has walked around
being like, my god, we're terrible, like a lot, a lot.
Like I have one of my best friends in the world.
(44:02):
I was the best man at his wedding, diehard Jets fan.
I have no idea how he's so positive, I mean
except for the Jets, Like, I don't know how he
does it. But like you look at it and you go, well,
you know, like the Jets are terrible, but how much
of that really was on Rogers? Well it's all the
other stuff that comes along. But when you look at
(44:23):
the Giants' interest in him, it does make sense for
Rogers and the Giants because of the Giants spend the
number three pick on a quarterback and it doesn't work out.
And look, anybody you talk to says, hey man, this
quarterback draft class it's not you know, this is not
(44:45):
the draft class last year was, and you know these
prospects aren't as good as like, Look, whatever you want
to that's fine. But if you're the Giants and you've
got the number three pick and you land in Aaron Rodgers,
all of a sudden, you've got the opportunity you need
a draft best player available, which could be depending on
how the draft board falls out. Abdul Carter. Travis Hunter, Like,
(45:13):
you mean to tell me, in one off season you
land Rogers potentially, abdul Carter, that's not a successful offseason.
I would think so, or Travis Hunter. I would think so. Like,
you've got pieces there, there are building blocks there, and
if Rogers comes back and he plays closer to what
(45:36):
he looked like at the end of last year with
Brian Day, ball in a situation where everybody's desperate to win,
because if they don't, Joe Shane's going to be aired
out Brian day Ball could be on the way out
like that. One makes a ton of sense. And Rogers
said in one of his interviews on the Pat McAfee show,
(45:57):
he said, Look, I just built a place out here,
you know, I'd like to stick around for a while,
and it doesn't have to leave. It's great works out
for everybody. So it makes sense for Matthew Stafford that
he stayed in LA. It also makes sense for Aaron Rodgers. Look,
I'm sure he would have loved to have been in
LA but who knows whether or not there was mutual
interest there. But it makes sense now that Stafford is
(46:19):
staying put the Giants, Rogers totally get it. The other
one that makes a ton of sense. That is kind
of the other domino to fall with Matthew Stafford's decision
to stay in LA is Shaud or Sanders. And I
said it earlier, should or Sanders. I don't know what
he's going to turn into in the NFL, but I
(46:40):
got a weird feeling he's gonna be really, it's gonna
be good, just from the standpoint that he's a hell
of a salesman, like he convinced me. And if I'm wrong,
and should or Sanders gets to the NFL and it
doesn't work out, and who knows why it wouldn't have
worked out. I'll stay on the air. Hey listen, he
got me to buy the fight, and then the fight
wasn't that good. But hey, that's on me. Because hearing
(47:03):
him talk at the Combine, it sounds like a guy
who really, really firmly believes, Yeah, I'm gonna go on.
I'm going to change a culture. I'm going to change
an organization. And as he said earlier, I've already done
it twice. I did it at Jackson, I did it
at Colorado, like I've proven I can do this. Multiple coordinators,
et cetera, et cetera. Here's the one that makes the
(47:24):
most sense for shoud Or Sanders, the Raiders. I don't
know if he's there at six. I don't know if
it would take them moving up, but Shadoor Sanders with
the Raiders makes a ton of sense. The Raiders. If
you can't find a quarterback to keep you in contention
(47:50):
in the division with Bo Nicks and Patrick Mahomes and
Justin Herbert, and you can't find a veteran quarterback to
keep you mixed you've got to find something that at
least makes you appealing, at least makes you attractive. And
there's something about the combination of should Or Sanders, Pete Carroll,
(48:13):
tom Brady that I don't know about you that feels
like a damn good time. And the fact that Tom
Brady and should Or Sanders already have a relationship, that
those guys have worked together before, that he's like a mentor,
that they're close. That one makes a ton of sense.
So I look at it and I go, all right,
(48:36):
Stafford going elsewhere didn't make sense. Him staying put makes
a ton of sense. Rogers and the Giants makes a
ton of sense. Should Or Sanders and the Raiders makes
a ton of sense. So it's almost as if this
whole discussion that nearly turned into a fight at a
Starbucks in Indianapolis between reporters and the potential bad blood
(48:56):
that could be there between stat in the end may
have worked out better for everybody involved. Stafford, Rogers, Shadoor Sanders.
What it does to Sam Darnold, what that does to
his market, who knows. But I look at it and
I go I could totally see the Giants going veteran
(49:16):
quarterback route, taking the best player available at three, and
then the Raiders potentially not having to move up depending
on how the draft board falls, landing a guy who's
got a long standing relationship and friendship with the owner
of the team and Tom Brady, and who's going to
(49:37):
be with a veteran coach who's going to be all
energy and is all of a sudden going to make
that franchise and that team that much more watchable. You
got Brock Bowers there, like listen, you know, Yeah, the
cupboard's not full, but it's not totally bare. So I
look at it and I go in the end, I
think it's going to work out better for everybody at
(49:58):
the Jonas knocks on X at the own A snocks
on X, and you can hang out with us as
always on the iHeartRadio app. A lot of positive feedback
here on the show. People chiming in, pretty happy with
what we've done thus far. Peter rights In, you board up, fakers,
f boy. You can now get back to wearing your
(50:19):
onesie with all your fellow Sea Gobblers. They're back, you bleep.
Peter rights In, you fakers, f boy. Yeah, I'm gonna
read that one Brian Wrights in Now your bleep ass
(50:41):
can bleep it out to Matt Stiffler on your bleep
rams when you're not exploding to euro bleep on your fakers.
You bleep lock going on there, man, Listen, we're lock
(51:04):
going on there. Some guy compared me to a gerbil
use your imagination on that. A lot of people calling
me a Lakers fanboy because god forbid, I said, hey,
there's a new energy in the building there. But nonetheless
(51:27):
at the Jonas Knocks and X. At the Jonas Knox
and X, I'll be honest with you, probably not going
to retweet those. That's probably not something I want to
inundate anybody on their timeline. But you can keep those
coming there at the Jodas Knox. And you can also
blame Isaac Longcron for that, as he was the one
who demanded some insults here because we didn't get enough
of them. An hour one all right, coming up next
(51:48):
here from the tire rack dot Com Studios. There's a
story in sports. It's not getting a ton of attention,
all right, not getting a ton of attention. We're going
to use some nuance when discussed this story. Okay, it
doesn't make it right, but we're gonna use some nuance
because it is one of my favorite thing that pops
(52:09):
up in sports every so often, and it's yours right
here on FSR. Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up
a little over ten minutes from now here from the
tire rack dot Com studios. We do have more updates,
some draft buzz, some draft buzz out there. When it
comes to the NFL potential movement near the top of
(52:30):
the draft. We will get into that for you again
a little over ten minutes from now here on FSR
from the tire rack dot Com studios. We also have
something near and dear to my heart that we need
to get into. If you have listened to this show
for any amount of time, there are two things that
I really really enjoy discussing because they make other people
(52:53):
feel uncomfortable and they don't make me feel uncomfortable at all.
In fact, like I would equate it to lard Ass
from the movie Stand By Me, where he's seeing everybody
blow chunks all over each other at the pie eating
contest and he just kind of stands back and just
admires his work. He just loves how disgusting and uncomfortable.
(53:14):
Everything is like he's really like just he feels at home,
Like he's like that's where like he feels at home.
I feel at home whenever there are stories about gambling
or peds in sports, because neither one of them scare me,
and neither one of them would stop me from wanting
(53:34):
to watch sports or cover it. Like I'm sorry, neither
doesn't bother me. Now, I'm not saying either is right.
If you find out somebody bet on a game, if
you find out somebody pissed hot and was on the
gas and you know it led to their performance, Like listen,
I'm not saying any of that is okay. I'm just
(53:55):
okay with how uncomfortable both subjects make people who cover sports.
Like when a pe de violation comes up, Ah, here
we go. I'm into it. But there's a lot of
people who just blanket statements Bob don this bob steroid
conversation comes up, You'll see that a lot gambling in sports.
(54:22):
I'm just throw them all out, get them out. They're
cheating others, they're cheating thing. It's okay. Well, you know
there are times where you got to use a little
bit of nuance here to really discuss this stuff. Not
saying that it's that it's right. I'm not saying what
they did is okay, but like, let's really have discussions
about it. We did the same thing when the NFL,
(54:42):
you know, jumped out and suspended Calvin Ridley all those
games and Jamison Williams got pop six games. And then
after the NFL kind of took a step back, they realize, oh, yeah, yeah,
maybe we went a little bit too hard on them,
you know, like this. And it's not like they were
betting on their own teams or against their own teams,
like one was betting on a college game. The other
(55:03):
was doing like these wacky parlays. Wasn't even playing at
that time. It's like, okay, And then you've got the
story that comes out involving the Fresno State men's basketball team,
where you've got multiple players at Fresno State who apparently
(55:27):
were betting on daily fantasy on themselves in games. Now,
the details are this that Michael Robinson and some associates
bet on the under on his own points and rebounds
(55:49):
in games that he played in. All right, so he
was betting on himself in these games, betting the under
some other people as well too, all right, so not
a not great Jalen Weaver. He also said that he
didn't bet on himself in a game. He bet on
Daily Fantasy that they would score more than you know,
(56:14):
the point total in a game, like he admitted. So
you got two players who bet on themselves in basketball games,
right to two players. Now, the general reaction you will
see is going to be kick him out for good.
We can't have this in sports. This is disgusting. They're
(56:35):
going to ruin it for everybody, to which I say,
then not really, yeah, not really. Got to use some
nuance here. You can't just be lazy about it, all right.
So let's break down the violation here, all right. The
first one Michel Robinson, who bet on the under in
(56:59):
points and rebut games that he played, right now, that's
a problem. Why is that a problem Because he's fading himself.
And if you are fading yourself, that means that you're
intentionally not producing points and or rebounds because you've got
(57:21):
money on yourself. That's an issue. That that's an issue.
Jalen Weaver, little different story. Because he was betting on
the over of himself. You could probably say well, you
know what, he's probably electing to shoot instead of pass there. Yeah,
(57:42):
but at least he's trying to score. It's not like
he's intentionally turning the ball over or kicking it off
his foot into the crowd. Like it's listen, two different
conversations altogether, And this is what happens in the embryotic
stages of stuff like that, that it takes people a
(58:02):
little bit of time before they realize there's a clear
difference between the two. Sometimes when people say it's not
what you think, Like sometimes they're telling the truth. But
if you walk in and you know, your wife and
(58:26):
the gardener are playing hide the yard rake and she
says it's not what you think, well, no, it actually is.
But then there are times where you walk in and well, yeah,
you're right, Yeah it's not what I think. You're your
correct And in the case of Jalen Weaver, it's not
(58:47):
what you think. Yes he did bet on himself, Yes
he bet on himself in a game. Yes he was
dismissed for that, and I totally agree and understand why.
But it is a big difference betting on yourself and
betting against yourself, huge difference. Nobody wants to have this conversation.
(59:09):
All right. That was Pete Rose's claim, never bet against
my team, and nobody wants to have that discussion. They don't.
But there is a real difference between the two, and
I can understand why. Yeah, but you can't let any
of it be involved in the sport, okay, except for
the fact that it kind of already is. I'm sorry, Like,
(59:34):
you know, we can't sit here and like you know,
do promos for DraftKings and gambling sites and all that
stuff and expect that like nobody actually involved who's being
bet on, is going to maybe kick the tires on
some of that. I'm sorry, Like, I know you can't
say that out loud, but come on, Like you mean
(59:54):
to tell me nobody with the Raiders or the Golden
Knights or anybody ever, like you know, maybe placed the
wager at a sports book. You know, it's all cash,
Like nobody like, no, they didn't have a buddy, like
they call him a runner go to a sports book
and play. Come on, dude, like really, like, let's not
be naive about it, and let's also be totally honest
about this huge difference between the two. There's a big
(01:00:20):
difference between betting against yourself and betting on yourself. And
I get why they got rid of Jalen Weaver. I
totally understand. But in this case where he says, hey,
it's not what you think, I like, it's He's right,
it's not. But the problem is these conversations make people
(01:00:43):
feel uncomfortable, and they don't know how to have them.
They don't know how to look at this with nuance.
They just throw a blanket over it and say, now
throw them, throw them over the endo, the ocean, forget it. No, no, no,
got to get rid of them. All okay, But when
you actually, like take a step back and you think
about it logically, it's a clear difference between the two. Unfortunately,
(01:01:08):
at this stage, nobody's ready to have that conversation. I
feel like I'm the only one doing it. Jonas Knox
here on Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knocks on
X at the Jonas Knox on X, and you can
hang out with us as always on the iHeartRadio app.
All right, So coming up next here, we've got some
rumblings about potential movement in the NFL Draft. We'll get
into that for you here on FSR, But for all
(01:01:29):
the latest from around the world of sports, ladies and gentlemen,
one and only, on his mountaintop of greatness, the Isaac lonecram.
Speaker 6 (01:01:38):
Well Jonas for everyone out there who wants to know
what's going on in the Auburn Kentucky game right now,
because the telecast has been off the air for the
last several minutes.
Speaker 1 (01:01:48):
Because of technical difficulties.
Speaker 6 (01:01:50):
Number one Auburn of eighty seven seventy three at seventeenth
rank Kentucky two twenty three left to play in the
second half. Miles Kelly twenty seven points and eight three
pointers for Auburn. Chad Baker Mazzara has added eighteen points.
Number ten Texas Tech has a fifty eight to fifty
(01:02:10):
four lead at Kansas. They have twelve minutes left to
play in the second half there. And Number seven Saint
John's with a thirty four to thirty halftime advantage over
Seaton Hall earlier today. Number thirteen Clemson what at Virginia
seventy one to fifty eight. Number sixteen Maryland also a
victory on the road. They won at Penn State sixty
(01:02:32):
eight to sixty four. Find twenty three points from Derreck
Queen finally, Jonas, this is a bizarre story and it's
going on as we speak. There was a disturbance at
the Dallas Convention Center a short time ago in which
large groups of people were observed running through the streets
(01:02:54):
in a panic, leading to concerns on social media about
a possible shooting. However, Dallas's WFAA television reports that there
was thankfully not a shooting. Instead, the disturbance was caused
by a fight between parents at a national youth cheerleading competition.
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
All right, k XAS.
Speaker 6 (01:03:19):
Television just reported moments ago that as of yet, there
are no confirmed injuries. But on one respect, were completely
relieved that there were no shots fired. But at the
same time, it had to be terrifying for the people involved,
not knowing what was going on. Parents and their children
(01:03:40):
who are participating were separated. The police have actually set
up a reunification center nearby. And this is an event
that literally drew tens of thousands of people to the
convention center. But this huge disturbance was caused, according to
WFAA television, not by gunshots, were happy to report, for
(01:04:00):
rather a fight between parents at a youth cheerleading competition.
Speaker 1 (01:04:05):
Now to what do you what do you think set
it off at a cheerleading competition? Like what would you say?
Like a little trash talk maybe, or like how does
that work? Like you seem like I think you've actually
covered cheerleading competitions before in your illustrious career. What would
set something like that off?
Speaker 6 (01:04:21):
I was like, wait a minute, when you said set
it off, I thought you were making a cheeky reference
to that Cheerleader movie. But the Cheerleader movie was bringing
on correct set it off.
Speaker 1 (01:04:36):
Yeah, I've never seen that movie because I don't watch
bad movies.
Speaker 6 (01:04:39):
But I mean, how do you know. How do you
know it's a bad movie if you haven't seen it yet?
Speaker 3 (01:04:42):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:04:43):
I'm just gonna go ahead and guess doesn't seem like
a movie that would be for me. No cheerleading, but
I don't know something about it. No offense to anybody
who was in the Donnie Brook, I don't want to
hear you off. Apparently you take it take it serious.
Speaker 6 (01:04:54):
Apparently Set it Off was not a cheerleading related movie.
Speaker 1 (01:04:57):
It was a bank robbery related movie.
Speaker 4 (01:05:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:05:01):
Well, I mean it's the same thing as fights between
parents at literal league games and youth basketball games.
Speaker 1 (01:05:07):
I mean, unfortunately, things like this are or nothing new.
I'd rather be in a bank while it was getting
robbed than go to a cheerleading competition, all right. I
just want to put that out for everybody to know
how where I stand on banks.
Speaker 6 (01:05:22):
Remind me not to do my personal banking with you
on a double date.
Speaker 1 (01:05:25):
By the way, there's we believe in safe takes here.
We don't believe in hot takes. It's that's a safe thing.
I'd rather be in a bank that's getting robbed than
at a cheerleading competition.
Speaker 6 (01:05:36):
Well most most most bank robberies are done you know,
electronically these days, though probably would it would be safe.
They would they would just you know, hack into the
bank's computer and you'd be there and you'd be fine.
All right, So do you believe that it was like
did somebody do a handstand and uh, like an opposing
parent blew a snot rocket they fell over and then
(01:05:57):
you know somebody got upset about it, and that's what Like.
Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
I just want to like, what would lead you to
get into a fight, Like I could see people getting
into a fight at a youth soccer game, a youth
football game, the same competition.
Speaker 6 (01:06:09):
This was a national event with tens of thousands of competitors,
so it was probably something similar to what has started
fights between parents at youth sporting events across the land.
I'm sorry to say, I mean you ever have you like,
what's the worst fight you've seen while at a sporting
(01:06:31):
event or conquering a sporting event? Boy, I was there
when Kobe and Reggie Miller got into it right after
the final buzzer.
Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
That wasn't too bad.
Speaker 6 (01:06:42):
The night that Rick Fox and Doug Christy went at
it in the Oh, the night Rick Fox and Doug
Christy went at it in the tunnel at Stayed Fall,
I remember that that was that took the cake for originality.
Doug Christie's wife was there. Shack was dressed very unusual
unusually there. He was in a plaid get up. He
(01:07:05):
honestly looked like a circus tent. So a circus tent
emerged in the shadows. I was interviewing Vlatti after the game,
and he was furious about the security there, and he
said that someone could have gotten in here with an
AK forty seven, and then he gestured as if he
was brandishing an AK forty seven.
Speaker 1 (01:07:23):
It is a memorable evening, by the way, I thought,
how about you? How about you though, Well, I mean
I don't know that I can recall if you just
have to check your notifications. Well, yeah, like that too.
I don't know if I can recall an actual fight
between competitors. But if you go to different sporting events,
there's always a fight in the crowd, oh yeah, always.
(01:07:44):
Like look, I'll just say this, if you happen to
go to a boxing event and there's a Puerto Rican
and a Mexican fighter that are fighting, there's going to
be some fans that are fighting on both sides of
the crowd. I'm just letting you know, just letting you
know right now, Well, what about what about God forbid,
(01:08:06):
an Armenian fighter is fighting a Mexican fighter. There's gonna
be something that's gonna go off of the crowd. It's
gonna pop off. I'm telling you that right now from experience,
I've seen it multiple times.
Speaker 6 (01:08:16):
Well, National Pride aside, what about the fan man incident
where the parachutist uh parachuted into a championship boxing match
and he got beaten up.
Speaker 1 (01:08:26):
Yeah, and he should have and he should have like
the other the other great ones. You can find videos
of people at pro wrestling events running into the ring
to try and get involved, and the wrestlers who were
who were villain, who were supposed to be battling it
out with each other turn on the fan because they're
all in it together.
Speaker 6 (01:08:44):
Yeah, but how do you determine if that's a real
fan or if it's just part of the work, because
that's that's how earthquake was introduced to us back in
the day.
Speaker 1 (01:08:52):
Yeah, but you know, the punches and the kicks look
significantly different, you know, like there's there's a real difference
between the two. You are a connoisseur, aren't you. Yeah,
well a hundred percent. By the way, I thought that
Doug Christy Rick Fox Brawl wasn't that long ago? Can
you believe that? Doesn't that seem like it was way
more recently. Seems like it was yesterday. Yeah, twenty three
(01:09:15):
years ago. And it was a preseason game. It was
a preseason game. That's awesome, Bo Benson, do you have
a you have a fight?
Speaker 3 (01:09:23):
Yes, I remember if you guys remember this, But twenty thirteen,
Carlos Quinton charges at Granky on the Mound in San Diego. Yeah,
I was at that game that was that was a
spring break and I'm like, hey, Dad, you want to
go down to San Diego go see a game at
pet Coney. He's like, h sure, I guess. And that's
just randomly the game we were.
Speaker 1 (01:09:39):
And I think Granky separated his shoulder or something like that.
I contend that the reason, and it was Carlos Quinton. Yeah, okay,
I think he got This is what a loser I am.
I think he got eight games for that. I think
if you look it up, he got eight games because
(01:10:00):
I remember thinking because it was more than what we'd
seen in other fights, and I said, had Granky not
gotten injured, it would have been less of a suspension.
When the reality is, yeah, he separated his shoulder because
Granky threw his shoulder into him when they when they collided,
there was no punch being thrown. It's not like the
(01:10:20):
guy you know put him in an arm bar to
try or like a kemora lock to try and break
his shoulder. Granky threw his shoulder into him and separated
and actually hurt himself. And I think GRANKI got less
of a suspension than he did. But you know. I listen.
If you know Granky's history with Yasiel Puig, He's not
afraid to throw down a little bit. So yeah, that
(01:10:42):
was fun one. But hey, listen parents at the cheerleading competition.
Let me know how it goes, because I will never
attend one of those ever. At the Jonas Knocks on X.
At the Jonas Knocks On X and you can hang
out with us is always on the iHeartRadio app. By
the way, quick update here this from Ian Rappaport or
at last scene nearly getting beat up by Jordan Schultz
(01:11:04):
at the combine in Indianapolis. According to Ian Rappaport, the
Tennessee Titans, who have the number one pick they quote,
need a little bit more time before making a decision
on whether or not they want to move out of
the number one pick. Most of the evaluators I talked
to believe cam Ward would be the first quarterback taken,
but certainly they're just in the beginning the process. In
(01:11:25):
the beginning of the process, it is all out there
and there is for sure real interest from several teams
in moving up to number one. So that, according to
Ian Rapaport of the NFL Network and Look if you're
Brian Callahan and the Titans, or if you're Brian Callahan
of the Titans, they've already let it be known, ay man,
(01:11:45):
if it doesn't, if you don't figure it out this year,
you're gone because you got somebody new in charge who
didn't hire him. It feels like there's this awkward timeline
that's happening where the Titans are in lock step moving forward,
but it doesn't line up with him. So if you're
Brian Callahan, you're probably looking at this going, man, just
(01:12:06):
get me a veteran, like, give me somebody that can
win us enough games to save my job. Other than that,
you know, either you trade out or you take take
best player available, being Abdual Carter, whatever the case is.
It feels like, if you're Brian Callahan and the Titans,
or you're Brian Callahan of the Titans, you're looking at
I got to save my gig now because the organization
(01:12:27):
has already let me let me know. I'm on the
hot seat, and if I don't figure it out this year,
I'm out. At the Jonas Knocks On X. At the
Jonas Knocks On X is where you can find us
coming up next here we are going to close up
shop here from the Tyraq dot com studios with another
edition of the Scraps Things in the World of Sports
and beyond. We have not had a chance to get
to it at yours here on FSR. Here's a hot
take for you. I believe this is Hollanoates's best song.
(01:12:54):
Hell yes, that's right. This is my favorite karaoke song
on two. Anybody got a problem with that, you can
go screw yourself out of touch. Best Hall of Notes
song for those listening on the podcast that don't know
what we're referencing, just put it on later go ahead
(01:13:15):
to head against any other Hall of Notes song, and
they got some bangers by far and away the best
one all right, by the way, coming up top of
next hour a little over ten minutes from now here
from the tire rack dot com studios. Make sure you
stick around. Alex Curry, Karmen Vitally, well have you covered
here so good? Oh man, just makes you fired up
(01:13:42):
to like wear a white sport coat and drink all right.
So a quick reminder here that if you've missed any
of this show, you can check out the podcast and
we would encourage you to do so, so, if you've
missed anything on this show, like, for example, whether or
(01:14:04):
not your wife had an affair with a landscaper, or
how a couple of moves in the NFL make way
too much sense, all you need to do is search
Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcast. Be sure
to also follow rate and review it again. Just search
Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts. You'll see
this show posted right after we get off the air,
(01:14:24):
and I will tweet out a link to this show
as well too at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox.
But right now it's time for this Jonas.
Speaker 2 (01:14:33):
Moron, how could you not get to these stories? Moron?
Speaker 1 (01:14:38):
How these are the scraps? And for that we turn
it over to our executive producer, Bo Benson to find
out what the hell we've missed so far. Bou chiefs
tied end.
Speaker 3 (01:14:47):
Travis Kelsey's coming back for another year with the team.
Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
Boy, there's a stunner. Yeah, it just thought he was
gonna leave. Who thought he was gonna leave? After that
awful performance?
Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:15:00):
Like, why would anybody if you still believe that you
can play at a somewhat high level, why would anybody
want their lasting memory of their NFL career to be
that because he looked bad. It looked like he quit
on some plays. They look terrible. I can't wait to
see what scorched Earth Kansas City Chiefs look like this
(01:15:20):
time around, because last time around when they lost in
the Super Bowl, they rebounded nicely. I'm curious to see
what they look like this next year coming.
Speaker 3 (01:15:28):
Yeah, it'll be interesting. I think he's turbo washed myself,
but that's fine. We'll see what happens. I mean, Travis
Kelcey or Kawhi Leonard. Who's worse than twenty twenty five?
Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
Um? Who boy boy boy boy? Kawai scored what twenty
one last night?
Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
He tried.
Speaker 1 (01:15:49):
Yeah, he's not had the best lock yet. But you
talk about who the pandemic impacted more than anybody in sports,
maybe the Clippers, man like might it might have been
the Clippers. And that is how you know you've got
bad luck when in the middle of hey, we've got
Kawhi and Paul George and you know there's some optimism here.
(01:16:09):
Like if you remember the weekend before the shutdown, they
had that great game against the Lakers and the Lakers
finally beat them. But it was like, man, that might
be the Western Conference finals and then all of a sudden,
next thing, you know, you know, the entire world shutdown,
you know, because of a pandemic. So yeah, that's unfortunately.
Speaker 3 (01:16:28):
Well, speaking of the Clippers, I am going to Lakers
Clippers tomorrow. Do you think Lebron and Luca will play
for my own sanity?
Speaker 1 (01:16:36):
Is that at the Crippers?
Speaker 3 (01:16:39):
Yeah, it's at Staples the crip whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:16:41):
Okay, yeah, I'm still called a Staples. Sorry, I don't know.
I tell you people, is what Listen, people give me
a hard time. I still call it where Washington plays
RFK Stadium, I don't know to tell you the Bills
playing Rich Stadium and the Dolphins played Joe Robbie. It
is what it is. Are they going to play?
Speaker 3 (01:16:59):
There's a off today, one of them will sit out? Yeah,
I know, I think.
Speaker 1 (01:17:05):
Don't you get a feeling like one of them is
gonna sit out? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
No, I kind of do. But also like they're they're
good and they're chasing the two seeds, so maybe they'll
both plays considering they're off today. I just I went
to a game last year and I think an hour
before tip off Lebron was announced to be not playing,
and then Ady got hurt, you know, midway through the
first quarter. So turned into the Austin Reeves Show.
Speaker 1 (01:17:26):
That was alright. So you've just revealed on the show
in the last twenty minutes or so that you were
at the game when Zach Grank you got here. Yeah,
you've also been at the game when Anthony Davis got
So I think so somebody's gonna get hurt tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:17:39):
At the game that you're at. I mean, I think
probably all of Los Angeles has been at a game
where Anthony Davis got hurt.
Speaker 1 (01:17:45):
Oh geez, bo, how dare you?
Speaker 3 (01:17:49):
Sorry?
Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (01:17:50):
Are you going as a member of the media or
are you going as a like a fan?
Speaker 3 (01:17:54):
I'm going as a fan.
Speaker 1 (01:17:56):
Who are you going with? Who you taking?
Speaker 3 (01:17:58):
My gracious aunt and my gracious uncle have tickets and
they are taking me and my wife to the Laker
game tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
Okay, so is the little one going to be there?
Speaker 3 (01:18:07):
And no, no, she's not old enough yet.
Speaker 1 (01:18:09):
Oh god, So you're gonna get buckled.
Speaker 3 (01:18:11):
Yeah, that's the point for you.
Speaker 1 (01:18:13):
All right. So, now, are you gonna pre game before
the game or just drink while you're at the venue.
Speaker 3 (01:18:18):
I will probably drink when I get there, given that
I don't want to be too slashed for my aunt.
She doesn't really enjoy alcohol, but she doesn't know.
Speaker 1 (01:18:31):
You'll be fine.
Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
Last thing for me. Paul Skens took the mound for
spring training. Looks like he's added a cutter. The pitch
he threw is devastating. He's absolutely nasty.
Speaker 1 (01:18:41):
It's just, of course, I mean, of course, like why
wouldn't you That's like, why wouldn't you also have a cutter?
That's like that's like giving a shark an oozy. It's like, yeah,
you know what, like I could already kill you and
bite you and half here, give me a give me
an autumn madic weapon, and let me go ahead and
(01:19:01):
see what I can get done with that. He's he's awesome.
He's great to watch, and it's gonna be fun this
next year as well
