Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports. Oh what is going on?
Good morning to you. I hope your.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Sunday is off to a fantastic start. We got lots
going on. We got college shops, we got the NBA,
we got the NFL, all kinds of goodies. This is
not a goodie. Lebron James strained groin exited early last night.
Lakers lost to the Celtics by ten and LBJ I

(00:29):
could be on the shelf for the better part of
a couple of weeks. I know it.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
I know it.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Well, it's not that serious.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
That's a little bit of over the top right there.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Christopherfetter, trusted technical producer.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
But I mean listen, our producer here, Jeff, good morning
to you, Jeff, good morning crack.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
But our producer Patty Sweeka, he.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Said, Hey, maybe I want to reevaluate this Schwartz syndicate.
Lakers play here and get with no nation in the
Lakers fade that that I'm not putting words in his mouth.
That's what he just said to me about a minute ago.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Good morning everyone. Look, the most important thing about last
night is Lebron survived a vicious attack from Jason Tatum's elbow,
and I'm glad that he is not seriously hurt from that.
We have to we have to make sure our stars
are protected in the NBA. And that was that was
that was not fair to hit him like that. Uh

(01:27):
and and injure him in that way. Obviously, when a
superstar gets hurt, not great. But this back for the playoffs, right,
I think that's this is why you basically have a
Luca as you say, oh, oh, Lebron's out, Okay, well, Luca,
can you score forty sure? I mean, this is this

(01:49):
is the benefit of having that, you know, watching the
game last night from the Lakers perspective, obviously, the third
quarter wasn't great and the Celtics. That's what really good
teams do, right, they come out of halftime. And if
you look at sort of just trends of NBA of
good NBA teams the third quarter, the Warriors covered the
third quarter in playoff games like seventy five percent of
the time they came out of the they came out

(02:09):
of the half of just smoked teams. And then and
that's what good teams do. They can come out a halftime,
they talk things over, they come out and they just
put it on you, especially at home. Uh, and the Lakers.
You didn't play on the third quarter. But it's so
noticeable in the game where Lebron will will just go
hard for three offensive posessions of a row. He back
down Derek White early in that game, like three times
in a row, hit a fade away and they just

(02:31):
sort of stood off to the side. Let Luca do
the offense for the next seven possessions. Now Luca will
just have more of it on his own. So look,
of course, I uh, I worried about his health crack,
but I my opinion, the Lakers has not changed other
than obviously they dropped to the third seed now and
maybe they drop a little bit further and have a
tougher second round game against Oklahoma City or something. But

(02:53):
I'm I'm really unconcerned about if Lebron was back healthy.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Hey, good morning, guys. I think the NBA would love
to see Celtics Lakers finals. Everybody loved those like Magic
and Bird Finals in the eighties and Kobe and the
Big Three in the two thousands. The Celtics showed yesterday,
well they're still the favorite to win it all again.
Lebron's injury didn't look as bad. At least I didn't

(03:19):
think it looked as bad as it might be. But
you know, we actually don't know right now, so we'll
see how long he's going to be out for. What's
the official verdict this morning? Did they say he's going
to be out for any amount of time or no? Dated?

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Oh okay, yeah, yeah, see what.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Happens day to day, but most likely a couple of weeks,
because why push it. You know they're gonna take the
cautious route. And like Jeff said, it's about getting ready
for the playoffs, so he'll ramp up just before the
playoffs and then go. But that's not good news. It's
as if his body was finally like, hey, wait a minute,
I'm old.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
It took this long to finally figure out he's old.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
But he's been tremendous for so long and play at
such a high level. So you do wonder how much
this sets him back, and how how long it's gonna
take to ramp up to the level he was at
before he got injured last night. Right, It's gonna take
a little bit of time. But I, I mean, I
this isn't like just a major setback or anything. We're

(04:16):
gonna get the Luca show in the meantime, because that
man will be putting up shots and numbers with Lebron
on the sideline for probably a couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
And I think that's that's fine. I mean again, it's
just it's why you make these trades, right, because you
want to end up with a guy like Luca that
can do those things for you. And and so yeah,
we'll we'll look the Lakers. Obviously the third quarter was bad. Otherwise,
you know, you can't come out like that. I think
they scored twelve points a third quarter, fourteen It wasn't

(04:48):
a lot.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah, they got out scored, what was it, thirteen nine
to thirteen thirteen points.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
You just can't have a thirteen point third quarter. That
reminds me of some of the other sports that I
have dabbled into the last couple of days, that just
the sometime you're just scoring as you're like that, you
gotta make that shot. You can't, you can't do that.
I will have a play, by the way, I think
in that sport coming up later. I'm for the parlay platter.
I'm going back and forth between what my bet will be.

(05:13):
Have you guys, gotten in on Missouri Valley Conference unders
right now because I know crack you had one of
them yesterday. Missouri Valley Conference has played ten games in
their conference tournament. Nine have gone under and by a

(05:34):
wide margin, like none of them are close. The first
one went way over, like one hundred and eighty points
were scored, the second one, I mean second, third, three, four. Guys,
these totals are opening and getting hit ten points. There
was one the other day open one sixty three and
a half, closed one fifty three and a half and

(05:56):
settled at one thirty nine. Wow, they are there. So
I'm I am all in on these small conference games today.
I cannot wait talk about all them with you guys.
It'd be a lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Yeah, that that Drake Bradley game opened the one twenty
four down to about one nineteen, one nineteen and a
half at MGM And uh yeah, no there. It's amazing
some of these certain conferences. You picked one, Missouri Valley.
There you go. And I always say a lot of
these kids come out tight in these conference championships, but
that one that for those to move at that rate

(06:31):
at that number, no matter what, because the bookmaker already
knows people are going to be betting under on these
and they still didn't adjust them enough. It scares me
just to blindly do it on a Sunday here, but
on the one game. But we'll see.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
I mean, Drake is three hundred and sixty fourth in country,
which is dead last in tempo. They're the slowest play
they play the slowest all of basketball. So like that
is like, why you look at this number and you're like, yeah,
I ate, So I bet the first eight. I was
seven to one. I laid off yesterday. I didn't bet
him yesterday because I missed. I missed number by five

(07:09):
points in one of the games. I'm just I'm just
not going to do it.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
I can't miss a number by five. I can't miss
a game by five points. I can't miss a game
by one point.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Well I missed one by by eight and still hit
it crack. So I mean, like, the problem is you
they put these numbers up at midnight. I'm dead asleep.
I wake up at six thirty in the morning, and
it's like they moved eight points already. So but uh, yeah,
I think Drake is you go to Ken Palmer justin
tempo and number three, sixty four Drake twenty nine and

(07:37):
three on the season.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
And it is.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
It's the most beautiful thing.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
If you're on the under and they're just going slow,
there's a guy they'll swing it. He's got an open
three if he wants it.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
Nah.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
No, we don't want that. We want to burn twenty
three more seconds off the shot clock and then get
a maybe a way.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Worse shot at the end.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Right there, that's how they roll, man, Like I actually
take one of my buddies.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
I was on the over of one of these games.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
What was it. It was the Murray State Bradley game,
and I said, hey, man, I think one thirty two
and a half is the way to go. And uh
it landed on one thirty two and I'm like, oh, dude,
I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
Man.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
He's like, I got one thirty one and a half.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
We're good. So it was a barely barely over.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
It was so funny because I was watching an earlier
game in that conference tournament and the commentators are like, Oh,
this Murray State Bradley game coming up, get the get
the calculators out, we're gonna have some scoring here. Boys,
Like I'm like, wow, what's the total one thirty two
and a half. Really, that's it and they had to
scratch and claw to get to one thirty two. So yeah,

(08:44):
it's the gift that keeps on giving these unders in
that conference tournament.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Uh, the the opposite of trick you to guest, guys,
number one team the country in tempo, who would you
who'd you go with?

Speaker 4 (08:56):
Wow?

Speaker 3 (08:57):
I don't think it's not hard. I feel like I
just think about yesterday teams Alabama, Alabama, there you go, yeah, yeah,
I want to see Alabama Drake play in the tournament. Now.
I gotta see this happen.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Clash of styles right there. How about that Bama win
though over time hold it out. Mark Sears a buzzer
beater and that was on the heels of the home
loss for Alabama against Auburn where Alabama shot five for
twenty six from three. Then they go into Auburn and
knock off the number one team. That was a great

(09:29):
performance by Alabama because if you're watching that game, there
were times where you know Auburn would go up in
the second half and you're like, okay, maybe they string
together a couple of buckets and it starts to get
away from Bama, and it just never did.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
They stayed right there the whole time.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
I gotta say I didn't put money on this game.
I was gonna take Auburn. But we've seen I think
the last week, like a bunch of these these favorites
are not covering, and some of these games is it's
March gets Marcher. We're upsets and and dogs covering these games.
And Bama just hasn't played good basketball relative to they

(10:08):
lost their they lost for their last six and every
game they win, it's got to be one eleven to
seventy three, ninety six, eighty three. I just I watched
them play against Florida, and it's just they can't get
a stop. Man, but they just can't get a stop
ninety The game was ninety nine ninety four, ninety nine
ninety four at home. Couldn't get stop to save their lives.

(10:28):
And that score actually is probably not indicative of how
the game went. I think I think Florida was up
in the double digits most of the second half of that game,
and Auburn has not played as well recently. It could
just be a little bit of just fatigue at the
end of the season. Certainly possible. Actually kind of curious
about them. Heading into the City Championship game SSC Championship
weekend next week, I thought there's no way Bama went

(10:50):
in this game, Brian, I thought there was no way.
But our voice had had Bama in a money line parlay.
That's how I knew that the Auburn a money line
parlay had they might lose both the money line parlays.
In the voices picks, yesterday lost as usual. It's the
most incredible thing of all time.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
Jeff, How how's the voice storing this end this year?

Speaker 3 (11:10):
And well, it's the last hard to follow every day. Yeah, yeah,
the last before yesterday it was about the last seven
days were like eighty percent. I couldn't believe it. I
was stunned. Now, yesterday I went back to what it
should be and I made a lot of money back,
but it was I was almost I was almost broke, guys.
If yesterday went eighty percent, I was wow, never going

(11:31):
to talk to you guys again. And so.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
At like like twenty five thirty.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Picks, it was something like it was something like fifteen
and four, like the nast nineteen picks. The best thing
happening right now, by the way, and I know best, worst, whatever,
it's it's one of everythings. So there's a personality on barstool,
big cat. If you are on social media know he is. Yeah,
he shit fifteen straight wagers in March undefeated in March.

(11:56):
I went back and looked, it's eleven straight overs. I
think eleven and straight overs. Okay. And what's funny Crack
is is the last couple of wagers that he has made.
You have something you have sent over that as in
one of your official plays, yep. And I haven't wagered
on it because I'm like, there's just no there's there's
no way I can't do this where and I like Dan,

(12:18):
like Dan's wager over Crack has the same over. I'm
just not playing it.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
I'm getting it off him. You don't realize it.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Yeah, I'm sure you are. And uh and he he
has hit the last two. I didn't play yours. I'm sorry.
I do this a whole time, and if I don't
play it, I obviously lose. But the best part is
yesterday he had Kentucky Missouri. They scored one hundred and
seven points the second half, wow thirty points in the
final two minutes and it went over yesterday and that today.

(12:47):
I can't wait for the overplay. I'm just I mean
to hit eleven straight overs.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
Wow, that game at the end there, right, Man, that game.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
The first half you're like, there's almost no way this
game is going over. And they had they had times
in the second half where the game was what you
thought it might be. Like, these are two of the
top seven scoring teams in the country and it's still
It took the foul game and some late buckets left

(13:17):
and right to get there, but man, somehow, some way
it got there. Good for him, though, fifteen straight that's
a great run.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
It's awesome. I haven't fainted it yet. I don't know
what I'm gonna hop in, but it feels like, you know,
if you wouldn't a match.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
If there's a match with him in the voice, maybe.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
No, yeah, But the thing about it is like he's
not serious is the wrong word, but he's not. He's
doing for entertainment purposes only sure, of course. It's just
like you know and he voice, she is doing it
I think for real, like really trying to like win
the wagers. Big Cat's just like throwing them out like
he's tweeting along with it, Like it's just more of

(13:57):
like a fun thing promoting the sports book that that
you know that they work with where you know, people
think if you're taking it seriously, you know, I'm going
to do that. But I can't wait see what over
he really? I hope it matches yours today. Crack. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
Let's just just real quick on on the Auburn game.
Auburn struck and second straight loss actually yesterday, so uh,
they still get a number one seed in the in
a weeks come out. But on the bright side, though
National Player of the Year candidate Room looked one hundred percent,
they scored thirty four. It will be just interesting to

(14:31):
see how motivated Auburn and some of these other SEC
teams are, you know, in the conference tournament. I talked
about this on a couple of shows this week in
New York. You know, I just don't know sometimes with
with these guys, like with the coach, these tournaments, these secs,
I mean, these conference tournaments, you just don't know how

(14:54):
they how they come out. Are they taking it serious? Uh?
For some of these teams that are like on the
or maybe not going to make it in It's like
a brand new season to them. So that's the reason
why sometimes you get some value on some of these
type of underdogs and stuff. So it should be interesting,
it should be fun. This is there. Listen, we all

(15:14):
know this is like one of the best times of
the year coming up the next two weeks, you know.
And I but back when I lived, when I lived
back East, I used to come to Vegas from March
Madness and it was the greatest thing. Used to come
out for a week and used to go come out
and put your towel at the pool and you know,
like like literally save that your your place out there,
going the sports book, put some newspapers down, puts reserved.

(15:36):
It was no problem at all. Now it's a total
money grab. There's no putting things down, and it's everything
is selling. I used to literally used to fly in.
I used to like, for some reason, I used to
like staying at Bally's. Bally's was a great location. Well
not for some reason. It was a great location back then.
I had five different sports books, five I can get

(15:57):
to within a ten minute walk. There was like Barbary Coast.
There was a place called Bourbon Street. There was of
course Balleys then there was like the Caesars brand, the
I mean, there was so many sports books you can
get to in a matter of minutes. This is before
the apps in Vegas, and it was a great, glorious time.
Now it's just all about the money those seats. Now,

(16:17):
people can't believe how much they're charging at the dinkiest, rinkiest,
terrible sports books. Bucket of bloods, smoke everywhere. Can't see
get the seats fifty bucks. I mean, there's no putting
a towel down, no putting nothing down anyway. Yeah, so
it's so different than what it was. And you know
what I got to tell you, it really gets a

(16:39):
lot of my guys upset. It gets a lot a
lot of my guys, you know, upset because you know,
we're used to the old days and you know, coming
in and getting pumped up for your games. And now
there's gambling across the country. So it might not be
as big as it used to be, but March Madness
is still a big time in Las Vegas.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
We're looking forward to it, man, it'll be fantastic still.
Even though the towel, the towel heist, you know, you
can't do that anymore. That's the towel play.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
The thing that the thing about it is that it's
it's it's day. It's like it's day sports. Like you're
like here, like at twelve o'clock on a Thursday, except
some days they they don't space them out very well
and it's like one game of twelve one eight of
them at seven o'clock you're like, you at them a
little better. It's the one time of the year we

(17:27):
had to figure out what truth Where True TV is at.
I think it's two forty six on Direct TV.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
And you see all the commercials of like, oh wow,
these are the shows on this network.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
Oh yeah, it's it's uh, it's gonna be a lot
of fun. And I think, look, I think the tournament,
you know, I I for a long time I was
like Auburn and Duke those are two teams. And I
think now you look at Florida, you know, maybe at
Michigan State. I have a big I have a big
ten take guys. I'll lay on you guys at some point,
which is that I'm going to probably fade all of

(17:57):
them come next week. But like, I think there's more
teams now you put Houston there a big winn at
Baylor last night. I think there's more teams that can
win than I originally thought. I mean, look, if Alabama
hits a six game straight where they just play a
little tad bit of defense and gobs teams that they
can't shoot, maybe they can win at all. But there's

(18:18):
some teams I think that are rising.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Yeah, no doubt.

Raiders are out here making moves. They trade a third
round pick and they get quarterback Geno Smith from Seattle.

(19:46):
So crack, that's the new quarterback over there in the
desert in Vegas, and listen. It makes the Raiders better
than what they were, but it still doesn't make them good.
That's pretty much where they are, right.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
This is big news here in Vegas. I mean, we
just didn't know who we were going to get. It
was it was, you know, we really wanted a couple
different quarterbacks. We didn't even this name really wasn't even
I thought he was going to get resigned. So this
was this is big, big news here in Vegas. It's
it's really hard for the Raiders to be worse than

(20:20):
last year. I think you probably said that they were
so terrible. I've never really been a I think me
and Jeff the first couple of years too, we were
just never really a big Geno Smith guy. But however,
he's a huge upgrade from this cast of misfit quarterbacks
that we had here in Vegas. And Gino now reunited

(20:41):
with Pete Carroll, so I like that they've had some
success together in Seattle. Obviously, isn't a long term fix
for the Raiders, but they should definitely be improved this year.
I'm really curious to see who they're going to draft now.
That's important with their first pick. Will they take the
flashy pick with Deon sanm the Sun or something more conservative?

(21:02):
And you know, I had a list of a couple
of guys that my my buddy sent me who he likes,
but he's hoping that they want someone He's a giant
rad lives and dies Raiders and he just was hoping
to get someone else, maybe On defense. Now, now, will
Gino sign a new deal with Vegas or is just
just a quick one year fix. I really don't even
know what we'll have to see, Jeff.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
I think it's gonna be uh not a I mean
they're gonna I think they're gonna sign him to a
long term deal. Okay, this has been a fascinating off
season for NFL moves. And we get to the league
year starts Wednesday, and we'll get Monday, so that the
tampering period and we'll get deals announced. Everyone's being signed.

(21:46):
There's no fragance, like there's just no there's just if
you're if you're a team hoping to get better fregency,
there's slim pickings. But the quarterback market's interesting to me
because number one, very clearly cam Ward from Miami Sederz
Hamers from Colorado are not the prospects we've seen in

(22:06):
other years. I'll give you many examples. The Giants try
to trade for Matt Stafford. They're picking third. Overall, they're
in a spot where they can have a quarterback. The
Tennessee Titans seems they're open for business, you know, like, hey,
come trade up to one, take cam Ward. We don't
want them. Whoa, whoa, We'll draft someone else. The Raiders
at six in a spot to draft a quarterback, presumably, No, no, no,

(22:29):
we want Geno Smith. Geno Smith. To Brian's point, it's
better than they've had. Who's he throwing the ball to
wide receiver? Who's protecting him? Yeah, I mean like a
draft Ashton Genty at six to run the football for them.
I mean, like there's all these other questions on their team.
Gino gives them better quarterback play, but for what they're

(22:51):
gonna pay him, he's not winning them super Bowls. It's
not even Probably they're not even a playoff team. Most
likely he wasn't a playoff team last year, and Seattle
probably was like, oh, we get rid of our mid
quarterback for someone else. Sign me up for that. Con
Seattle's sort of going through a roster rebuild ish, right,
they need better offensive lineman. DK Metcalf might be on

(23:11):
the move. They're like, yeah, we saw one year of
Gino this, we're out, we're done. We're creating a new offense.
So the Raiders can still draft a quarterback, absolutely, but
this feels to me like they've signaled we're out of
the quarterback market early in the draft. We're gonna just
draft who's ever available at six, who's good for us?
Gent D McMillan. Just someone out, an offensive lineman maybe

(23:34):
is at six that we like, a defensive line like,
plenty of options there. So the Dominoes now seem to
be Sam Darnold to the Seahawks. I think it sounds
like Aaron Rodgers to the Vikings, which is so funny
considering the Brett Faire thing. The Giants seemed to be
the one left standing with no quarterback. Still, I think

(23:56):
they trade to one. You can find some of the
some of those wagers right now where they were. It's
a who picks first. Overall, the Giants are about even
money with Tennessee on that. But I think the Giants
are so desperate for quarterback guys they're gonna move up
and you know, and make that happen. So yeah, I'm

(24:17):
I'm pretty curious about that. The Ben MGM just has
a couple of five props up, crack crack. Question for you, buddy, yo,
how can we force these sports books to put up
more draft props? I know they get killed by them.
I know that's why they don't do it, but like
five all we got five.

Speaker 4 (24:35):
So three years ago, well three years ago when they start, well,
not that they started put them up.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
They might have put them up like four years ago
to Ron Walker draft, right whatever.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
Three years ago they got so buried by the way.
I had a great season that year. It's it's always
all about you know, reading and looking back into just
following beat reporters. And it was an unbelievable year. But
the limits were good too, a lot of the books,
but there was so many to Jeff's point, there was
so many different props. You know, guys to go to

(25:07):
certain teams, then over under what their position will be.
I mean they had guys that were one hundred and
twenty fifth over under what will they go? And it
was a really good draft for anyone with uh, let's
just say with information based on reading and Jeff's right,
it was easy pickings. Now the sports books are petrified,

(25:29):
all of them, petrified of people knowing too much, and
they only have a couple of them up in small limits.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
It was I think it was the Travon Walker figure raft. Yeah,
because I had we I think everyone at the same information,
Like I got told a month beforehand, like Travon Walker
is the Jaguars guy I got, I got plus money
on him. I got plus money on on like like
three to one, I got three one on Hudgerson to
go second overall. I mean I second defensive lineman, Like
I load right on that, and yeah, I smacked. We

(25:59):
got the book and this year does feel like cam
Ward's going one overall right now. I bet MGM has
him at minus three fifty oh one overall. Travis Hunter's
play is nineteen hundred to one overall. He's the best
player in the draft.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Think about what Jeff just said. He bet second defense. Yeahlman,
they don't even have first defensive.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
I bet, I bet, like, yeah, I bet exactness too.
I bet like I bet Jacksonville to Jacksonville to draft Walker,
the Lions to draft Hutchinson like I made a kill
and that. Yeah, I mean, look, I knew someone wh
knew the general manager. Like it was one of those
things where it just like it fell into place, and yeah,
that's why these numbers are not up. But Travis Hunter

(26:43):
guys nineteen to one right now, nineteen hundred to go
to first overall. He is the best player in this
draft like that feels like I might actually wager on
that it's not a bad value.

Speaker 4 (26:56):
Bryan. At least I know now why they don't have
draft props up this. Jeff Shorts ruined.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
It for everybody. Yeah, yeah, yeah, my offshore account I
had really really killed three years.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
Ago, and now I know. I was wondering why. I'm
sure Short syndicate.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
You know it doesn't bury us. All he uplifts us.
That would be Isaac Low and Brown. Huh, information beneath
your wings, right, information, singing voice from the heavens and
uh providing everything you need to know. With a smile
on his face.

Speaker 6 (27:32):
That singing voice was courtesy of performance enhancing substances. I
will get back to my strength, though, which is sports,
and good morning fellas. We started the NBA on Saturday night,
where the Boston Celtics defeat at the Los Angeles Lakers
one eleven to one oh one, breaking the Lakers eight
game winning streak. However, Lebron James had to leave the
game in the fourth quarter with a left groin strain.

Speaker 7 (27:53):
Not much obviously, we will day to day, look at
it each day to see if it gets better, and
then uh.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Take the proper measurements and see see what we need
to do that for.

Speaker 6 (28:04):
No word yet on how many games James may have
to miss due to the injury.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
Not two, not three, not so not sick, not den In.

Speaker 6 (28:16):
A related story, I'm a horrible human being anyway. Elsewhere,
the Golden State Warriors, Sorry, Lebron, that was probably too soon. Elsewhere,
the Golden State Warriors defeated the Detroit Pistons one fifteen
to one ten. Golden State now on a four game
winning streak. They've won nine of ten NFL. On Saturday evening,
the Williamson County, Texas District Attorney told the Austin American

(28:36):
Statesman newspaper that his office has declined to press charges
against Kansas City Chiefs receiver Xavier Worthy, who was arrested
on Friday night on suspicion of felony assault. The Washington
Commanders resigning tight end zach Ertz to a one year,
six million dollar deal. College basketball, on Saturday night, Number
two Duke beat North Carolina eighty two to sixty nine

(28:57):
to clinch the ACC's regular season time. Notre Dame over
Cal in four overtimes, one twelve to one ten. It
was the first four overtime game in ACC history.

Speaker 5 (29:10):
Fellas back to you.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
Thank you, I Lo. It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown
presented by BETMGM. Every Sunday through the rest of the
NBA regular season, BETMGM will be running the NBA Sunday
Splash Jackpot. Users will have the opportunity to win a
share of fifty thousand dollars in bonus bets if their
player scores the most three pointers on that Sunday. All
you have to do is opt into the Sunday Splash

(29:34):
Jackpot promotion and place a ten dollars plus NBA player
three pointers bet up to one time each Sunday. If
your player scores the most three pointers on that Sunday,
you'll win a share of fifty thousand dollars in bonus bets.
And yeah, how about that, fellows I Loo talking about
the Xavier Worthy situation. He was arrested on Friday night.

(29:55):
There was an allegation of impeding the breathe or circulation
of a family member, a domestic violence issue. And then
we get worried that he's not going to be charged,
not going to be charged in this situation, and look,
man lawyered up obviously this is wild where according to

(30:16):
the attorneys for the player, the woman in the dispute,
she was asked to leave the residence, she scratched Worthy's face,
among other allegations, and the wide receiver told police, I
don't want to press charges. So a very different story
from the other side. It's like I was there. I
don't know what happened. I hope everything's good. All I

(30:39):
know is what's up with these chiefs wide receivers involved
in things they shouldn't be involved in. Where it's Rashid Rice,
it was Tyreek Hill when he was there. Now it's
the Savi'er Worthy. Some very talented players just got to
make better decisions off the field.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
So the Williamson County disfert attorney Sean Dick on Saturday
evening to The Statesman, the newspaper in Austin, after speaking
with multiple witnesses, his office is not accepting the case
at this time. So I'll just say this, if I
think this is the case everywhere. I know it's in Charlotte.
I know some police officers here if they show up
to domestic violent case, someone is going to jail, but

(31:19):
someone they can't leave without anyone going to jail, they
cannot leave the scene. Someone's going, man, woman, someone has
to go to jail. That's the that's the that's the law.
So again that doesn't mean they're gonna press charges, but
someone's going to jail. And maybe that's what happened here
speculation of course, right, we don't know, but someone has
to go. And it sounds like the district attorney, you know,

(31:43):
saw enough that he didn't feel it was worth charging
worthy at the moment and probably feels like it's not
going to happen at this at this point. Look from
a football angle, I mean, the Chiefs were looking at
two wide receivers being suspended at the same time. Next
he said, I mean, all if it's coincidence of the

(32:03):
Hollywood Brown signed back like an hour before this news
came out, But Hollywood Brown came back to Kansas City
on a one year deal. Yeah, look where she Rice
will be suspended at some point this season.

Speaker 8 (32:15):
You know.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
It's the question with the Ray c Rice is interesting
because I'm curious what you guys think about this. So
he would have probably been suspended this season, but he
was hurt. He tours ACL on Week three or Week four.
I believe because the Chargers do they lessen his suspension
because he already missed most of a season, or they
still give him the max what they would have given

(32:36):
him and he misses another half of a season. I
don't know. I'm kind of curious to see how that
plays out, because he will surely be suspended for the
incident to happen on the highway there and then Worthy,
I guess, will not be suspended. Even though the NFL
does their own investigations, which I think sometimes I thought
us for years now they're not. They're not prosecutors, they're

(33:01):
not the district attorney, they're not detectives. Like doing their
own investigation, you don't have subpoena power, Like, how do
you do that and then have a different conclusion than
the law enforcement individuals who their job is. I know
it's not always perfect with law enforcement crack, but I
always found that the NFL doing their own investigations, coming

(33:21):
up with their own conclusions and suspending players with different
evidence than the law enforcement individuals in charge of doing
this have has always rub me the wrong way.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
Sure, sure, look, you hate to see any off field
trouble for any guys, but It happens every year for
the Chief. You look at their wide receiver room next year.
Worthy is very important. Brings the burst of speed, explosive
this to the team. You just don't come across that,
you know, really in the NFL on an everyday basis,
they like you said, they signed Hollywood to a one
year deal. I think Renal Rice will be back. And

(33:54):
you know, I'll just tell you you hate to see.
I wonder if you're the coach, you know, you wonder
if he just can take the kids and sit him
down and say, hey, this is your football career, this
is your life, this is your Like who do they
look up to? It? I think worth these twenty one
years old, Like who do you look up to in life?

(34:14):
That that you could you know, give him some kind
of a jeff that like, this is your team expertisto.
You know when we come when we come back from break,
you can even tell us what where do you think
they need to improve next year to get to the
top of the mountain. Offensively? The line got manhandled in
the Super Bowl. What do you think they can maybe improve?
And also do you think Kelsey would be back next year?

Speaker 1 (34:34):
Oh he's back.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Yeah, he's back. He announced it on his podcast. Okay
we have I think I'd be younger at my ear Brian,
so lead us, Lead us, Sir.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
I love that. Yes, every now and then, Chris Purfett,
it's either Detroit basketball.

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Or gotta break. Gotta breaking a break.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
I cash Detroit basketball last night, right, baby?

Speaker 2 (35:00):
That is awesome. Go Pistons, those beautiful plus six and
a half. All right, We've got Bill Krakenberger, professional sports handicapper,
Jeff Schwartz, eight year NFL veteran. I'm Brian no coming
up next to Parlay Platter. We'll each have one selection
for you. We pull it together for a greater payout.
We'll share our insights in selections with you. Next, it

(35:21):
is Fox Sports Radios Countdown, presented by BETMGM.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown presented by BEDMGM on Fridays. BETMGM,
authorized gaming operator of the NBA, is making first field
goal scorer wagers more.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
Exciting with Second Chance. What second chance ever?

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Bet on your favorite player to score the first field goal,
only to see him make an assist to his teammate
for an easy layup. Well, with BETMGM second Chance, you'll
get your stake back in cash if your first field
goal scorer score second instead of first.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
All right, let's do this.

Speaker 5 (36:09):
Check this out with our late letter A.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
Yes, we each have one selection. We pull it together
for a greater payout crack. We start with you with
something you like.

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Let's go to Oklahoma City. Let's go check Holbrom points
rebounds over twenty three and a half. Yes, he's coming
off an ankle injury, but he's supposed to be one
hundred percent healthy today. They will need him against Chokick.
And let me just tell you he should play twenty
five plus minutes. So he's went over that number twelve
or fourteen times this season when he plays twenty five

(36:41):
minutes or more over twenty three and a half points
rebounds by Holbram.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
It's funny because I will give this pick later. I
like I like Joker to do have the same wager
on the other side. I think it points rebounds, usaid points,
rebounds to rebounds, assist points and rebounds oh, I like rebounds.
Well we'll we'll, we'll, well, we'll talk about that a second.
All right, Oh, so many options, guys, I mean people,
let you guys choose what would you like hockey? Would

(37:10):
you like women's college basketball? Would you like men's college basketball?
Because Crack went with like a traditional number on this right,
like it's for that wager it is, where's he been
at here? It's you know, it's gonna be like minus
you know, one ten, minus one fifteen. How about this.

(37:32):
I'm gonna do hockey. I'm taking the Capitals today. I'll
just I'll take them on the money line minus to
seventy five right now. One of the best teams in
all of hockey. But really, the Cracking guys who they're
playing today are zero to nine on the second half
of back to backs the season. The Crackers are not good.
They don't score a lot of goals. Uh, Washing Capitals

(37:52):
are number one in NHL and goal scoring. Just team
to win the game today, So minus two seventy five
Caps to win today. Puck drop, by the way, like
a very specific time. I think it's three thirty eight
pm Eastern, very specific puck drop today.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
That's like like the Toronto Blue Jays at seven oh seven,
yes time.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
Yeah, the symptoms Giants have done that recently. We're like
their first pitch is like six forty eight on the weekend,
on the weekdays.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
All right, that's how they're getting down.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
Okay, I'm gonna go to the big South over here
in the title game. Give me Winthrop and High Point.
I'm gonna go over one sixty and a half. And
some of the both teams, some of their games are
way high scoring. And also if you look at bet MGM,
they have this little tool where you can see the
percentage of the bets, like which way it's favoring. Oftentimes

(38:49):
I like to go with the minority. You know, only
thirty percent is on the over, so I like that.
You're kind of fading the public a bit, if you will.
So both things combined, I'll go over one sixty and
a half. That's a high total in college basketball, right.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
Definitely for a new for a new game too. That's right,
early early game.

Speaker 1 (39:09):
Yeah, I know it.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
We might need a like a Kentucky Missouri second half
right there, you know, get over, but it can't have
and someone's got to get in the eighties. I think
it will happen. So I'll take over one sixty and
a half for Winthrop and High Point. And so with
these three picks, it gets it close to four to one,
about three plus three eighty six, so close to four

(39:33):
to one. If you take three of our picks here
and combine everything there, you go.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
Excited.

Speaker 1 (39:41):
We were seventy five for the Caps sets.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
Would it? Would it be better if you want you
want the puck line instead? You want to you want
a better part of No, No.

Speaker 4 (39:50):
It's no, we're locked in. Yeah, second guess.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
Yeah, Well it was like, yes, I bet the puck
line too, but since the part, I figured we'd just
go straight for the win.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
Too bad.

Speaker 2 (40:00):
Tatum isn't playing today like what he did last night.
You liked the rebounds and assists. I took it, cleared it.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
Yeah, I bet that last night. Every big game, I
take Tatum over rebounds and assists.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Yeah, that was a good play last night, all right?
Coming up next to see the MVP and the best
all around big ever. Oh, welcome in here, Happy Sunday
to you. I'm excited for this man NBA action. One
o'clock Eastern time here. We got the Nuggets at the

(40:33):
thunder and if you're all in on this MVP race,
this is the game for you, right This is Joker
against SGA, and those are the top two guys.

Speaker 1 (40:44):
It's a runaway. It's down to those two. Listen.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
I think you go back to what happened on Friday night,
Nicola Jokic posting the only thirty twenty twenty game in
NBA history. He had thirty one points, twenty two assists,
twenty one rebounds against the Suns in overtime. When you
can say this has never been done in the history
of the NBA before, that's pretty special. I think Jokis

(41:11):
should win the MVP. I know he isn't going to
win MVP because it's SGA's year. He's been a scoring machine,
tremendous defense, all of that, and there's voter fatigue.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
This is what I think sucks. We saw a little
bit of this in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
You can't tell me if josh Allen had been the
two time MVP and Lamar Jackson had zero MVPs that
Josh Allen is winning another mv it never would have happened.
And this is what we're seeing in the NBA. Jokis
is a three time MVP. He's not gonna be a
four time MVP, and that's unfortunate. He's putting up career numbers,

(41:50):
he's putting up numbers that we've never seen before in
NBA history, where he's gonna be top three in points, rebounds,
and assists, and he's.

Speaker 1 (41:58):
Not gonna win it.

Speaker 2 (41:59):
You can't tell me if if SGA had won three
MVPs and Jokic had yet to win one, that SGA
would win a fourth MVP this season. There's no chance
that would happen, and I hate that it plays out
the way that it does.

Speaker 3 (42:15):
Did I think this tweet was sent in our in
our group thread, but did you see the tweet where
someone said Jokic had two triple doubles? He basically he
had like eleven, ten and ten and then had another
triple double after that, which is which is kind of
incredible you think of it. Look, the MVP thing is

(42:35):
is always I think it's time we basically have two
awards in sports, MVP and best player, because they're often different. Right,
if you want to say that the MVP is basically
the best player on the best team, which is what
we often equate that to, then yeah, I give it
to SJA, but the best player is Jokic. Like that,

(42:55):
those are two separate things. I think, you know, maybe
you can equate. The value is that if if Yoga
are off the Nuggets, they wouldn't be a playoff team.
I mean, surely, but maybe the same thing said for SGA.
I mean, look, these awards often don't go to the
best coach, best player, like it doesn't happen that way.
So you're right, Brian, Voter fatigue is real and they're

(43:18):
just not going to give it to him twelve years
in a row if he's the best player. I mean,
Lebron should have more MVPs too. It's just the same
way it goes, and they spread the wealth through This
game will be pretty fascinating to just sort of see.
To me, it's more about the Nuggets in my opinion,
where I think there's a lot more questions about them
than Oklahoma City. The question with Oklahoma City, We've talked

(43:39):
about this for weeks now, is youth right, is not
having done this before? Is can't you know when they're
in the postseason and they haven't had that experience before.
Is a team like Denver with their experience gonna outshine
Okay see and their seven point favorites today. Crack. As
you mentioned, you have Chet Holmgren, I have Yokich over

(44:01):
rebounds and assist. It's twenty two and a half I
got earlier today. I can check it again if if,
if the numbers move, but you know he's hit that.
I'm gonna pull up right now. That number a lot
over the last I have it right here, guys. He

(44:22):
he has over his twenty five he averaged over his
last twenty games, and the Thunder are twenty five rebounds,
assists by the way per game over his last twenty games,
and Thunder rate twenty fifth and defense against center. So
I just think that's a good good play here, rebounds
and assists.

Speaker 4 (44:39):
For yo kitch I gotcha got this? This Nuggets Thunder
game today could be a preview of the Western Conference finals.
Probably not, but yeah it could. Wait. Yeah, it has
the top two MVP candidates going head to head. And
you're laughing about the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (44:55):
Yeah that's your team, Okay, Laker Jeff, you don't right, right.

Speaker 4 (45:03):
Jokicic The thirty twenty twenty game earlier this week just
showed how skilled the big man really is. I'm not
sure there's ever been a better all around big man
ever to play the game in the NBA. Really, I mean,
he's got the physical dominance of Shack, He's got the
footwork and passing of like a Tim Duncan, and the
outside shooting of like Sabonis. I mean, uh, I really,

(45:26):
I really think this this guy just I've never seen
like a full package like this guy before. He's truly
the total package. I just wanted to look at MGM
and so MGM bet MGM has Yeah, they're they're their
total is up to they have the highest total on
the board. It looks like to me he opened up
two forty two. They're up to two forty three and

(45:49):
a half. On this game, up to seven and a half. OKC, boy,
I tell you, I know that that's in games in general.
I'm looking across the board today, Memphis two nine, Milwaukee
to thirty eight. I understand games get this high, but
two forty three and a half bet MGM, that seems
like a lot of points. I cannot play over that

(46:11):
many points. But I'm not betting the under either. I'm
just saying this is a lot of points today. So
we'll see what happens.

Speaker 1 (46:17):
Yeah, it's uh, it's interesting what you throw out there, crack, Like.

Speaker 2 (46:21):
Is Jokic the most dominant all around big man that
we've ever seen? And listen, I would say offensively, yes,
like he all around. If you look at some of
the best bigs in the history of the NBA, their
assist totals are nowhere near where Jokic is in his career.
Yoki's playing ten years. Most of these guys aren't in

(46:44):
the threes, you know, like Shaq, Hakeem, David Robinson. Those
guys hadn't even averaged three assists per game. You have
to go to Kareem and Wilton Russell to get near
the fours, right, that sort of tory. Jokic is for
his career over seven assists per game, So offensively all around,

(47:05):
I think he's the most dominant. Now if you consider everything,
I would say no, I would say that's Kareem because defensively,
Jokic he's good, but he's not a shot blocker. He's
a lot like Karl Malone. Remember Carl Malone. He would
swat down at the ball a lot. He was really
good at forcing steels, like swatting down at the ball,
but he was never a shot blocker. Jokic averages point

(47:27):
seven blocks per game for his career. That's nothing like
these dominant big men. They're averaging two and a half
a team averaged over three blocks per game in his career.
So if you include defense, I would say no with
Jokic all around. But if it's just strictly offensively all around, yes,
there's no one that's been more dominant than him.

Speaker 3 (47:49):
I just think it's a hard discussion to always have
over different eras of generations, right, because he is a
generation where a player like him grew up shooting three
pointers and grew up with a bigger offensive back. If
he played basketball twenty years ago, he'd be back to
the basket, you know, he'd be Shaq and Kareem and
all like. He'd be those guys. But he grew up

(48:11):
in an era where you know, big men shoot the
ball from three and they have an offensive back and
I passed the ball more like. He's a big guy
that plays like a point guard, right, And so that
you just didn't have those players twenty thirty years ago
and now they do. So I think it's hard to compare.
I think Brian's right, like, you know, yeah, yeah, offensively,

(48:36):
But again, like what if what if Shaq played in
the era now, he probably wouldn't be He probably wouldn't
be back to the basket right, he'd be what Yo
getch is now. I don't think he's woldever be a
skill as a passer, but we don't know because he
played a different era. Remember, Shack in Orlando was not
the Shack in Los Angeles. He was a lot more
you know he So I'd say it's hard to make

(48:57):
those have those discussions. But yeah, if you just compare
with the players for what they are, he's the best
offensive big man ever. I mean there's no I'm not
even sure there's someone that you can question that now, Cracks,
I mean brindright. Defensively, I still think Shaq is the
most dominant big man. Physical domination Kareem, you know that

(49:18):
hook shots impossible to block, and what he did as
far as a champion in a winner can't be matched.
And I think if you were just to say best player,
you'd rate Kareem ahead of Jokic. But as far as
big men, yeah, absolutely assume. As far as an offensive scorer, yes,
and that's the hard part about every sport, right, comparing generations.
I do feel like we do that less and less

(49:39):
in football, that's the one where we just go generation
by generation. Baseball, it's like ridiculous to me that you
compare guys now to Babe Ruth, Like, what what are
we doing on It's the impossible? Hey man, best hitting
season is nineteen twenty seven. You're like, what do we what? What?

Speaker 4 (49:58):
What did?

Speaker 3 (49:58):
It's not even the same sports, But I mean the
baseball stuff drives me crazy. I like it though. I
love baseball is my favorite sports. I love baseball. But
you listen to a broadcasting, they're like this picture man,
you know, since the oil canned through one hundred and
forty innings in a game. It's just like you're like,
what are we doing comparison?

Speaker 4 (50:23):
Oh, you're right, so different back then too, Like there
was so much of a you know, pictures sometimes drew
back to back games one hundred years ago.

Speaker 3 (50:32):
So, okay, Babe Ruth did not see Mason Miller. Okay,
he didn't see Mason Miller. Okay, Like, let's be real,
he didn't see uh, you know any he didn't see
any of these guys now that they they average. I
mean some starters, right, Paul schemes to average like one
hundred and one. You know, I didn't see that Paul
Skins and he was when he was playing.

Speaker 2 (50:50):
Yeah, you know. It's funny though, when we're talking about
Yo Kitchen. I like the Eras thing that you bring up, Jeff,
because if you look at some of the dominant centers
from vus Eras, it's kind of interesting to think about
what would their game look like and how good would
they be if they played today, like doing what Jokic does,

(51:10):
like Patrick Ewing or you mentioned Shack. Can you imagine
Shaq shooting threes and dishing the rock like Jokic? Like,
they would have different styles, different games. You could play
the same game with Jokic in a previous era. I
still think greatness would find a way to be great.
It would just be a different version of that. But
to say, I'd say a guy like Kakim who played

(51:32):
in the Back to the Basket play in this era
absolutely special.

Speaker 3 (51:37):
In this era, Ewing though, was sort of always a
bigger bill like Shack. Remember Shack got up and down
the court man, he was splating them in a court.
He was I think Shack could have played in this era.
Jakim certainly could have with how skilled he was around
the basket and you know his but Ewing, I don't know.
Ewing has always been a bigger cat, right even to
mean obviously when you're in college, you're not as thick

(51:59):
as you are now. But oh absolutely yeah. I mean
look to your point about you like he would figure
it out. When you're a great you figure it out.
And so that's why the Aras thing is so hard
to you know, it's so hard for me to do
those discussions because it's not fair to everyone because they
played different times.

Speaker 1 (52:20):
You know what's cool, you would like this crack.

Speaker 2 (52:21):
I was thinking about Jokic in his game, and we
talk about how you can't speed him up, right, he
plays his speed and it's slower. It's a methodical type game,
but his mind is so fast. If you just watch
Jokic today, watch how fast his mind is like as
a scorer, as a passer, it's just just like a quarterback,

(52:43):
like a little bit of opening, a little bit of
space and boom, the pass is right on the money.
And he's also it's kind of like a boxing comparison
where he's really like a counterpuncher because he'll wait. If
you watch him, when he's about to score. Every now
and then he'll just make a move and he'll go score,
but he'll wait for the defender to make the first move.

(53:05):
He's kind of like a Bernard Hopkins. Counterpuncher is really
what he is as a basketball player. You just watch him.
He'll wait for the big guy to kind of like
move to the left and then he'll spin the other way.
He'll make moves off of your initial move. He's really
good at that. And as slow as his game is,
his mind is so fast. I don't think he gets

(53:26):
credit for that.

Speaker 4 (53:27):
That's a great point, it really is, And you're right,
just like Hopkins did in the Ring, Bernard Hopkins was
great at that. I've actually been with Bernard a couple
times talking to him about things. I love boxing, you know,
but uh, yeah, that's great. Go ahead, Jeff, I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (53:41):
So I think that's I mean, his mind, you know,
the mind of what like Lebron does. I mean, it's
it's incredible, right, absolutely play just like watch him. I
like watching him when they're when the ball someone else
has the ball, Watch like watch where he stands, Watch
where he moves, watch how these direct guys. And my
favorite part about him is just his absolute apathy toward

(54:02):
playing basketball, just like just like doesn't like it at all,
just would would just would rather be home with his horses.
It just happens to be the best player of the
world and like not really of course he cares. Of
course we saw it. You watch if you watched it
was a quarter of gold. Was at the enme of it.
The documentary on Netflix, Yeah, which was great, by if

(54:23):
you watched it. Yet, Brian Well, I love too that
they that he Jokic has no part of it whatsoever. Serbia.
They interview everyone but Jokic. He's only superstar in the
entire show. Like they have Sja on there. They have
bogged on, they have bogged on for for for Serbia. Obviously,
Durant does a ton in the show, like they have
all the USA players in there. They have Wemby and

(54:45):
and Rudy, Gobert and Fournier and all those guys and
and Uh and Batoon like all these guys for the
French team. No Jokics whatsoever. But you can see in
the locker room and in practice obviously how much he
cares like they they're in the serbian locker room and
in the serbian practice and whatnot. But it, uh, he

(55:06):
just just just the outright like not looking or appearing
to care very much and being this good is so
funny to me. It is it drives old head It
probably drives with old heads crazy.

Speaker 1 (55:18):
Well, I mean, it's one of those deals.

Speaker 2 (55:20):
He was interviewed by Scott Van Pelt after the thirty
twenty twenty game on Sports Center and SVP was like,
this is the first time it's ever been done in
the history of the NBA. How would you frame this performance?
And he was just like, we didn't play good against
Sacramento the game before, and you know we won this one,
so that's good.

Speaker 1 (55:40):
That was it.

Speaker 2 (55:41):
And SVP's like, are you that's it? That's this is
the first time it's ever been done. He's like, maybe
when my career is over, I look back. I need
the rest now, Like that's it. He doesn't care at all.
He's not a self promoter, is right, And it's cool,
Like it's cool, like I have no problem with Listen,
if you score a touch down, you do this elaborate dance,

(56:01):
that's fine. I'm cool with that, but there is something
about like Barry Sanders handing the ball to the official.
That's what Jokic is. Jokic is all about winning. He
does not care about the limelight or the individual accolades.
He doesn't care at all. And there's something cool about that.

Speaker 4 (56:18):
That's great. Oh, it's great, it really is. You're right,
that's the way he takes it. And it's just and
you know, being on being on a team that I
guess not saying they don't have a spotlight on him,
but it's not like being on the Lakers, and I
always compare everything to the Lakers, So I guess maybe
that pressure is not on him, like a media pressure
or nothing. Like Jeff said, he wants to go home

(56:39):
and hang out with the horses. I mean, I love that.
I love it.

Speaker 3 (56:41):
It's great.

Speaker 2 (56:43):
That's a good point, though, crack like he would hate
it if it was sure constant.

Speaker 3 (56:47):
You know, he'd not play. He had not played New
York and in Los Angeles. Yeah, it's just not and like, yeah,
he's almost in the perfect position for him now. He
might not win again in Denver. It might be one
and done for him because he's not going to play
in a city that really will attract the free agents
quite like other places will. But I think he's fine
with that. He won his championship. Do you do he

(57:10):
even attends is like Hall of Fame induction.

Speaker 1 (57:14):
I like him might be like, I'm just gonna stay home, like.

Speaker 3 (57:19):
I know t o obviously, like had a beef with
the Pro Football Hall of Fame. And do you remember
he did his own induction and it's called it like
a college but I just Jogas did it in Serbia
by himself, just.

Speaker 1 (57:29):
Like I wouldn't put it fast.

Speaker 3 (57:31):
Yeah, so I can't wait to watch that today. Look,
there's a lot of ball we got. We got no football,
but we got we got ball. We got college basketball today,
as you mentioned, we got some championship games happening all
throughout the day. My Ducks play today. Every time I
watch him play, I start to finish, they lose, So
I can't. I'm I'm figuring. I'm determined I should watch

(57:52):
start to finish, just like.

Speaker 2 (57:53):
Well, let me know, let me know whichever one you do,
and will know how to you know act according Organ's.

Speaker 3 (57:58):
Gonna beat Washington. I know that I feel good about that.

Speaker 1 (58:01):
Okay, at Washington, it's freaking brutal.

Speaker 3 (58:03):
By the way, we're so bad.

This follow the money, real good money.

Speaker 2 (59:19):
Yes, we welcome in, Christian Cipolini, bet MGM Trading Manager.
Good morning to you, Christian. You know, I was just
thinking if this might be a dumb question. All right,
let's start with that, Christian, But if you just give
us an idea of where March Madness ranks among the
other sporting events betting wise, Like, how do you break

(59:40):
it down with say, the NFL playoffs, NBA all this
other stuff. Where's the big dance as far as those
other sports and playoff formats go?

Speaker 8 (59:50):
Yeah, okay, so a little interesting, just because it's like
a tournament as a whole, as opposed to like, obviously
the Super Bowl is going to you know, do much
bigger numbers thanchampionship game. But as a whole, uh it is,
it does do great numbers. I would say, what ranks
a lot lower though than a lot of the pro sports,
if I were to grab like the entire MLB playoffs

(01:00:11):
or the entire.

Speaker 9 (01:00:13):
NBA playoffs, but that first weekend is is crazy, and
that first weekend alone is certainly going to take a
lot more action than you know, any specific round of
any playoffs.

Speaker 10 (01:00:27):
If that, If that.

Speaker 8 (01:00:28):
Makes sense, obviously NFL's gigs, that's that's always.

Speaker 10 (01:00:31):
The number one.

Speaker 3 (01:00:32):
Have you seen an uptick this week in some of
the mid major conference tournaments? I mean there's a lot
of trends in the Missouri Valley Conference for the Unders
and you know a lot of these sort of you know,
these these tournaments. I think there's there's value. Have you
seen uptick this week in the in the mid major tournaments?

Speaker 8 (01:00:50):
Yeah, we do. And to your point, yeah, the smart
ones know that there's a ton of value in these tournaments.

Speaker 10 (01:00:56):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (01:00:57):
Seavus who joins you guys on Saturday, if he loves
pricing up these conference tournaments.

Speaker 10 (01:01:02):
I think it's his favorite thing.

Speaker 8 (01:01:03):
So he likes putting up the Sunbelt and the Patriot League.

Speaker 10 (01:01:08):
So he's always on there.

Speaker 8 (01:01:09):
And we do take a good amount of action, especially
this week, are you know, the past couple days and
then into this week because the real college basketball fans
know the conference tournament week is, you know, arguably maybe
better than March Madness.

Speaker 4 (01:01:24):
Hey, buddy, Bill Krachenberger, let me ask you. I just
heard you say something that actually surprised me.

Speaker 3 (01:01:30):
There.

Speaker 4 (01:01:31):
I thought that that first weekend of March Madness was
bigger than MLB playoffs, bigger than than you're saying. It's
actually not that Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday MLB playoffs will
be bigger than that, or NBA playoffs even bigger than
the March Madness. That first weekend.

Speaker 8 (01:01:49):
Over the tournament as a whole, I would argue that
first weekend is going to do a lot more than
you know, a couple rounds.

Speaker 10 (01:01:59):
Of the NBA playoffs.

Speaker 8 (01:02:01):
But as a whole, then the major sports do kind
of end up taking more as a whole of their
entire playoffs versus the whole of the March Madness. But
the first weekend is definitely obviously going to take a
ton of money.

Speaker 4 (01:02:15):
And where does golf rank in that? In other words?
I love maybe because I'm going to the Masters again
this year. I love betting on the Masters, And does
that rank up there also or not? Really?

Speaker 8 (01:02:28):
The major tournaments will like specifically the Masters. The Masters
will will get up there. But because of the fact
that it's like a you know, a one weekend tournament,
it would be less than you know, that first weekend
of March madness, gotcha?

Speaker 4 (01:02:43):
Gotcha?

Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
Okay, kind of a random day today, betting wise, Christian
I would say, maybe you disagree, but is there anything
that you need you need like, hey, we need the
Winthrop high point under.

Speaker 1 (01:02:53):
Is there anything that you need here?

Speaker 8 (01:02:57):
Yeah, you're right, this is uh, we're kind of in
the calm before this storm here at this conference tournament
week is going to be a big one and this
is kind of like you know, the last day of
I guess I won't say meaningless basketball, but the real
ones that mean something that these teams.

Speaker 10 (01:03:11):
Start, uh, you know, this week.

Speaker 8 (01:03:14):
So in the NBA, we'll want the Nuggets to at
least cover versus the Thunder, and then outside of that,
there's not any huge, huge games the rest of the.

Speaker 10 (01:03:23):
Day, uh.

Speaker 8 (01:03:24):
And then we'll want Michigan also to cover against Michigan
State and college basketball is that early.

Speaker 10 (01:03:28):
Tip off game.

Speaker 8 (01:03:29):
And then again outside of that, you know that that
seems to be the biggest one of the day over there.

Speaker 10 (01:03:33):
So, uh yeah, kind of a quiet day.

Speaker 8 (01:03:37):
So mostly we'll be hoping that some of these underdogs cover.

Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
As we get near the end of the college basketball season,
I think we're seeing more teams emerge as potential players
to win a championship. Are you seeing more money on
Florida recently or maybe Saint John's or some some bigg
nostalgia there or is it really just pretty much Duke
in Auburn at the moment?

Speaker 8 (01:03:59):
Yeah, So what saved this actually on Saint John's is
the fact that you can't bet them in New York,
So a lot of those home down fans can't actually
go and bet on their team unless they want to
cross over the bridge. So the fact that they're having
a good season is actually a little bit helpful for.

Speaker 10 (01:04:18):
Us mentioning Florida.

Speaker 8 (01:04:20):
Florida is one of our more bet on teams, and
they're actually of a realistic team our biggest liability, so
they've been taking a ton of action, and I guess
just the fact of where their price point is, they
end up being our biggest liability.

Speaker 10 (01:04:33):
Although Duke is the.

Speaker 8 (01:04:34):
Team's courts has taken the most bets.

Speaker 4 (01:04:36):
You know, Christian, It's funny you said, that made me
bring brought me back to a couple of years ago
when New York didn't have sports betting and my buddies
from the Bronx would literally bike or even walk across
the George Washington Bridge to the Jersey side to bet
some stuff. And it just made me think of let
me ask you, when will that rule? Do you think
that rule ever changes of not being able to bet

(01:05:00):
on your own team and your own state. I mean,
it seems pretty silly to me. Do you do you
think that ever changes?

Speaker 8 (01:05:07):
Yeah, so I know New Jersey was the one who started,
and it was kind of that they had to make
some concessions to basically get it on the ballot.

Speaker 10 (01:05:14):
And be able to be the first one that came legal,
and that was I guess one of the things that's there.

Speaker 8 (01:05:18):
So it needs to be voted on at least in
New Jersey to be able to get there. And you're
gonna probably notice this as the conference tournament for as
March Madus gets here is there's a few games with
the Crdential Center this year and you can't bet on
New Jersey teams.

Speaker 10 (01:05:30):
You can't playing in New Jersey.

Speaker 8 (01:05:33):
So when that Eliteate and six Sweet Fix teams gets there,
there's gonna be some people in New Jersey that don't
realize that they can't bet on whatever the two teams
may be, or not even two New Jersey teams.

Speaker 10 (01:05:43):
So take a vote, And there.

Speaker 8 (01:05:47):
Was one a few years back that didn't get passed,
so maybe other states would follow if New Jersey passes it.
But we're just gonna be waiting. And it is a
huge headache from our perspective, especially because if we want
to do that region of the Elite eight, but if
New Jersey teams in there, they can't be bet on,
so we have to change.

Speaker 10 (01:06:06):
Our odds up. And it's a whole, the whole nightmare
from our perspective.

Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
And a lot of kids don't have a lot a
lot of the you know, I say kids under thirty
crowd does didn't even know. They think something's wrong with
their app. What's going on here? GM, They're going and
literally emailing customer service here, guys, you know them at
the game? You wanly better They don't even realize how
you know?

Speaker 8 (01:06:27):
Anyway, Thanks Christian, Yeah, exactly, it'll be Uh, We're gonna
put some notices up on our app. But I'm sure
people are gonna blame us saying that we don't.

Speaker 2 (01:06:35):
Oh, definitely, absolutely. Christian always great stuff. Man, Hope you
have a good day. We'll catch you soon.

Speaker 10 (01:06:44):
You guys, catch you next week.

Speaker 1 (01:06:46):
All right? Sounds good.

Speaker 2 (01:06:47):
There he is, Christian Cipolini bet MGM trading manager.

Speaker 1 (01:06:51):
I'll tell you what. We go from heavy hitter to
heavy hitter.

Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
Christian Cippolini just seamlessly handing the baton to Isaac loewen Kron,
the anchor leg of the four by one hundred meter dash.
You know our relay, I should say Ilo would know that.

Speaker 6 (01:07:07):
Pretty much, an expert at flawlessly handling the Well, drop
the baton.

Speaker 3 (01:07:11):
Sorry about that.

Speaker 1 (01:07:12):
It's all right. We're still gonna win gold to pick
that up.

Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
Thanks to Christian.

Speaker 6 (01:07:17):
We're so far ahead in the race. Well, fellas, guess
what we got some fresh NFL news on this Sunday morning,
because NFL media reported a short time ago that the
Buffalo Bills are releasing star pass rusher Von Miller to
clear salary cap space, but both parties, the Bills and Miller,
are open to him returning on Saturday evening. The Williamson County,

(01:07:38):
Texas District attorney told the Austin American Statesman that his
office has declined to press charges against Kansas City Chiefs
receiver Xavier Worthy, who was arrested on Friday night on
suspicion of felony assaults. In the NBA on Saturday night,
the Boston Celtics beat the Los Angeles Lakers one eleven
to one on one break in the Lakers eight game
winning streak, Lebron James had to leave them in the

(01:08:00):
fourth quarter with a left groin string.

Speaker 7 (01:08:02):
Look at it each day, see if it gets better,
and then take the proper measurements and see, you see
what we need to do going forward.

Speaker 3 (01:08:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (01:08:09):
Sit down and to right with Mike, and you figure
out what the best guessing, your best case of playing
is going, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
Going forward.

Speaker 6 (01:08:15):
Finally, in college football, the Toledo Blade newspaper reported a
short time ago that Bowling Green is hiring former NFL
star running back Eddie George as its new head coach.
George spent the past five seasons as the head coach
at FCS Tennessee State, where last year they had a

(01:08:35):
record of nine and four. A good job by the
Toledo Blade beating its competitor, the Canton pocket Knife to
the story.

Speaker 11 (01:08:45):
Back to you, guys.

Speaker 2 (01:08:48):
It is Fox Sports Radio's Countdown presented by bet MGM.
Good for Eddie George right there, promotion, you know, moving
up to a bigger profiled gig. Very nice.

Speaker 4 (01:08:57):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
Every Sunday through the rest of the NBA regular season,
bet MGM will be running the NBA Sunday Splash Jackpot.
Users will have the opportunity to win a share of
fifty thousand dollars in bonus bets if their player scores
the most three pointers on that Sunday. All you have
to do is opt into the Sunday Splash Jackpot promotion
and place a ten dollars plus NBA player three pointers

(01:09:19):
bet up to one time each Sunday. If your player
scores the most three pointers on that Sunday, you'll win
a share of fifty thousand dollars in bonus bets. And
with that, hey, we're gonna participate over here, right, We're
gonna throw out our three point scorers, so crack.

Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
We'll start with you.

Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
Who's who's an NBA player today that you think might
hit the most three pointers.

Speaker 4 (01:09:42):
Let's go with Anthony All right. Oh, I like that,
nice little splash. Yeah, let's go with Anthony Edwards Minnesota
Timberwolves first to Spurs today. He's attempting over ten a game.
This should be a fast paced game today. So I'm
gonna go to Anthony Edwards today to have the most.

Speaker 3 (01:10:02):
Okay, Okay, I like Damian Lillard. They're hosting the Calves.
Lillard average three point five made three is a game
which is near the top ten, and the Calves allow
the second highest three point percentage to opposing point guards.
So little at home against against the Caves.

Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
I like it. I like it. Okay. I'm gonna go
with a splash brother for the Sunday splash jackpot. Give
me Klay Thompson.

Speaker 4 (01:10:33):
Right.

Speaker 2 (01:10:34):
The Suns they have a hard time. They have a
hard time guarding you, Me and Jeff over there, crack,
you know, the three of us. Their defense is freaking brutal.
And listen, what are the MAVs. What's their offense look like?
Minus Kyrie, minus Luke, It's gonna be Klay Thompson jacking
some threes a good amount of the time. So I'll

(01:10:56):
take Klay Thompson to have a day here. He's had
days before. So maybe that'll that'll work out here today,
we'll see a little bit of time here, Crack. So
baseball is on your mind and you'll love this, dude, Jeff,
it's your favorite sport?

Speaker 4 (01:11:12):
Is that?

Speaker 1 (01:11:12):
Is that true? Number one?

Speaker 4 (01:11:13):
Over football?

Speaker 10 (01:11:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:11:14):
I heard him say that. I was surprised earlier to
good Man, I like it.

Speaker 3 (01:11:18):
Is a kid as my favorite sports as a kid
as I still like it a lot. I mean, I
think football is number one. I sure, Lah, I like
I will watch a lot of baseball. I very much
enjoy it. I'm I feel like I'm out. I feel
like I'm out of the the age group that's supposed

(01:11:38):
to like baseball. I do still like baseball.

Speaker 2 (01:11:42):
Yes, okay, Crack's got some He's got some strategies to
share with us here, you know, like the MLB grind,
betting it day to day. That'll be here pretty soon.
So uh, anyway you want to go here, Crack, any
strategies any like season long futures, teams that will disappoint surprise.
What do you have for us here?

Speaker 4 (01:12:02):
Yeah? And you know talking about that though, it's a
lot a lot of history for me and my family,
My grandfather, my great grandfather, you know, grew up diehard
Yankee fans. Babe Ruth used to literally come over to
perth Amboy, New Jersey, was like right across the bridge
there and always there was a little field called Copper

(01:12:23):
Works Field, And I remember my grandfather telling me great stories.
My grandfather was born in nineteen ten, but even even
his dad taking him over there to watch the babe
work out and so that was and have fun with
the kids. He gave back a lot. Baby gave back
a lot to the kids. So big Yankee fans growing
up all together in our house. Even I was the

(01:12:43):
guy that was the more of a Met fan, though
I was rooting for the Mets, that was always rooting
for the underdog there. So when the sixty nine Mets
is before me, but I still the miracle Mets in
the eighty six Mets, boy, they were really special to me.
But baseball's you know, become even one of my favorite
betting grinds. Believe it or not. I've had some really
good success in the past few seasons betting sides and

(01:13:06):
totals every single day. You know how hard it is.

Speaker 3 (01:13:09):
You know.

Speaker 4 (01:13:09):
I remember one of the big sports books, one of
the directors told me once. He's like, oh, man, do
you know we can't wait for baseball. We can't wait
for baseball season because we make more money on baseball
than NFL. I was like, what how? And I'm not
thinking it's every day. You said the right word to grind.
It's every single day. So you know, personally, I do

(01:13:33):
a lot of like I said, size totals. By do
some first five inning plays that's based on starting pitching.
It doesn't take amazing Creskin to figure that out. I
play a lot of full game stuff too, though I've
dabbled in some player prop markets, mostly pitcher props actually.
But as far as teams go this season, boy, I
hate to keep going back to this stack Dodger team

(01:13:55):
and I'll hire their season win total. It's hard to believe.
I was trying to look out I'm on camera today.
I was trying to look at bet MGM as I'm
on the camera today. I mean, one hundred and four wins.
I don't was there ever a team at this high
of wins? Boy, But I do know some sharp guys
that are on the over there. So both of the
New York teams are supposed to be good. Their win

(01:14:16):
totals are set at like ninety one. I'd be real,
real blunt. Every year one of these two teams flop.
So the Mets have big expectations this year, snagging big
some big free agency offseason Soto and Pete Alonzo staying
I mean, but do they have the pitching to win
ninety plus games? And I want to tell you same

(01:14:37):
thing for the Yankees. Yankees. Also the Yankees, same exact thing.
Yankees are Cole's hurt. Now a sharp action on the
Royals under I seen there was a team that surprised
everyone last year with eighty six wins at a playoff appearance,
but they really haven't done too much to improve this
offseason and set for some regression. So there's a little

(01:14:59):
little looking of it right now.

Speaker 2 (01:15:02):
Like it good stuff?

Speaker 1 (01:15:03):
Anything on your list real quick here, Jeff Baseball.

Speaker 3 (01:15:06):
Most yeah, I uh.

Speaker 1 (01:15:09):
Backing the Cardinals this year's I did.

Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
A Giants Dodgers or I guess there would be Dodgers
Giants one two NLS at plus seven hundred. I gotta
look at my way. I have some baseball stuff. I
took diningbacks under underwins.

Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
Uh, here's one, here's one that's funny. You could take
over under the longest winning streak of the season. Yeah,
so if it's at four and a half games for
both the White Sox and the Rockies. Can you see
either of those having a five game winning streak this season?

Speaker 3 (01:15:43):
I will run back my White Sox fade every day
until proven otherwise.

Speaker 1 (01:15:49):
Run there you go, there you go. You're back on
it all right.

Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
We've got Bill Krackenberger, professional sports handicapper. Jeff Schwartz, eight

(01:16:14):
prop betting market. We'll compare notes. It's Fox Sports Radios
Countdown presented by BETMGM. It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown
presented by BETMGM on Fridays, BETMGM, authorized gaming operator of
the NBA. It's making first field goal scorer wagers more
exciting with second Chance.

Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
What second chance ever?

Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
Bet on your favorite player to score the first field goal,
only to see him make an assist to his teammate
for an easy layup. Well, with BETMGM second chance, you'll
get your stake back in cash if your first field
goal scorer score second instead of first.

Speaker 1 (01:16:50):
All right, let's do.

Speaker 5 (01:16:51):
This prop it up player plays.

Speaker 2 (01:16:56):
A yes, the prop betting market. We start with you
crack with some and you like.

Speaker 4 (01:17:00):
Let's go right to the big man. We're talking about
Jokick here to have a triple doubles minus a dollar
ten playing the Thunder competitive game here. You know, they
had literally had a triple double him both times that
he played this season, played in the season. So listen,

(01:17:21):
I gotta tell you I hate such a square play.
I know it sounds like common sense, but that's what
I like today. I think that the Thunders is like
bottom ten and rebounding and they should double joke. So
we'll have to see what happens here. All right, that's
my pick.

Speaker 3 (01:17:39):
All right, all right, As I mentioned earlier, I'm gonna
pull up the player of combo stats, rebounds and assists.
Joki's over twenty two zero point five in this game.
I think that he will he will play well. As
we mentioned throughout the show important game, and we'll get
his best name moments. I like Organ's big man Nate

(01:18:02):
Biddle to have over fourteen and a half points. Stay at Washington,
good porn game for Oregon. It's a rivalry game. Washington stink, say,
allow a ton of points and then only had seven
in this first game. It's Washington's not played terribly well
in that game. He is prone to foul trouble unfortunately.
But when he is in there, Organ's very good. So
I like Biddle there over And one thing I've been

(01:18:25):
doing for Capitals games much earlier, but Ov is a
goal scorer. Did not score last game. You know he's
chasing history right now. You can also, sorry, that's about
plus one hundred for goal scorer right now, actually pull up.
Let me pull it up the actual number for you
guys here anytime goal scorer plus one hundred for that

(01:18:46):
and then the other one. That's kind of fun, guys,
last goal scorers plus seven hundred for Ov. That is
a good wager because of the open net and let
a lot of the end of the Capitol's games where
they're better than their team, they're winning the goalie polls,
the other team polls are goalie Brian, and then Obie
has an open net to get some more goals. So

(01:19:06):
last goal scorer plus seven hundred as well. Small, that's
a sprinkle bet. Sprinkle bet on that.

Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
Ok, okay, sprinkle bets. I like that's got the peanut bets.

Speaker 1 (01:19:15):
You've got the sprinkle bets. I've got the link bets,
like the lint in your pockets.

Speaker 3 (01:19:19):
Yeah there you go, Yeah perfect, Yeah, sprinkle.

Speaker 2 (01:19:25):
I'm gonna go a little crazy on you here. I'm
looking at this Sun's MAVs game. As we know, the
MAVs are not tiarrors on the on the glass right now,
like short most of their big men. I still though,
I'm gonna take Kevin Durant under six and a half
rebounds today. I'm gonna say, Nick Richards, Mason Plumley, they

(01:19:47):
do most of the work here. Kd has gone over
this number the last three games. He's played monster minutes,
so he's gonna be on the court quite a bit.
Good rebounder, you know, But this line just thinks to me,
I guess the team that can't rebound very well at all.
Maybe it's the overtime game. He just played forty six
minutes I'm gonna take under six and a half for

(01:20:09):
KD on the rebounds here coming up next? Battle tested
or worn down? Oh? What is going on? Happy Sunday
to you College basketball? The big dance right around the
corner right now.

Speaker 4 (01:20:23):
We do have the.

Speaker 2 (01:20:24):
Conference tournaments, so that's fun leading up to March Madness.
But when March Madness rolls around next week, we're gonna
see from the SEC, We're gonna see a bunch of
teams in the tournament. We know that. Are we gonna
see a bunch of SEC teams advance in the tournament?

Speaker 1 (01:20:41):
Because it's a real question here.

Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
These teams, they're certainly battle tested, but are they gonna
be a little bit weary right when the tournament rolls around?
You can see Auburn is a good example. Auburn is
a team that's on fumes to an extent. Yeah, and
it just it makes you wonder, what do you think.

(01:21:04):
Are you going to see the SEC flex it's muscled,
they're battle tested, this is the premiere conference, or are
you going to see them be a little bit worn
down and not have the results that many expect them
to have.

Speaker 1 (01:21:16):
What do you think?

Speaker 3 (01:21:16):
Jeff? So I know Albert's lost two in a row.
I think it would actually be best for them to
lose the first game of this tournament and have a
four or five or six days off, right, like they're
the one seed no matter what happens in this tournament. Now,
of course, going to the tournament, losing three in a
row is probably not a great feeling. But like grinding
away for four days to win a tournament when you're

(01:21:41):
already a one seed and you're sort of on fumes,
doesn't feel like great.

Speaker 4 (01:21:47):
Now.

Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
Of course, Bruce Pearl's not going to go out and
tell his team to lose. It's funny. I was listening
to an interview with Rick Patino and he mentioned in
twenty thirteen with the Louisville team, they had won like
so many games in a row, they blew everyone out,
but they lost in the conference tournament, and he secretly
was really happy about it. He's like, we played hard,

(01:22:08):
but I was glad we lost as we needed to lose.
We needed to feel that feeling before hitting the tournament. Now, again,
all Burn's different because they've lost two in a row.
But the idea of like just when you're in a
conference tournament, you don't have to do that to be
good in the in the NCAA tournament. In fact, I
think most times the teams that win those tournaments struggle
in the Big Dance because they play so many Again,
it's it's you know, you play two games a week

(01:22:30):
right now, that's four games or three games in a row,
like back to back. That you haven't done that since tournament,
since November, right when you played all those pre peace
and tournaments. It's a lot on the body. So this
seems really interesting to me because I think Florida is
really good, they have a chance, they have a chance.
Tennessee's untrustworthy because Rick Barnes always stinks in the postseason.

(01:22:52):
All Burn's really good. But they're tired. As we mentioned
A and M's and I don't know much what A
and M they They just they sort of wouldn't a
lot of games though, right they beat Auburn, they won
the beat LSU. Ysterdady cover against LSU, and Alabama plays
no defense. So I don't know, Brian, I am if

(01:23:13):
I'll put this way, one and a half SEC teams
in the final four over under guys.

Speaker 1 (01:23:21):
In the final four.

Speaker 2 (01:23:23):
Yeah, can we get two of them in. There's basically
what you're asking. Yeah, wow, with everything you rattled off
right there, Gosh, take the under.

Speaker 3 (01:23:36):
I would take the under two. But it's it's mostly
because the tournament is just such an unknown. Like again,
what if Bama goes up against essentially like four teams
that are a little subpar and offense, they could be
a Final four team, right, But they run up against
a team that makes thirteen three is a game and
they hit eighteen in a game. They're out right. So

(01:23:57):
that's why the tournament makes it's so fun.

Speaker 4 (01:23:59):
Crack Yeah, No, I think it benefits these SEC teams
to play this tough competition all season long. You know,
they're all battle tested and they have been playing against
tournament caliber teams every week. I would not be surprised
if the SEC got six seven teams into the Sweet sixteen,
uh and as many as three teams in the Final four.

(01:24:21):
Maybe I don't know that sounds even here. You go,
I'll check raise you, but you know it's gonna it's
gonna be tough. Though. I understand Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee
that all have what it takes to win it all.
But there are some great teams outside the SEC that
that have legitimate chances. You said Patino or talked about
him just recently.

Speaker 3 (01:24:42):
I don't buy Saint John's by the way, No.

Speaker 4 (01:24:44):
I know you. I remember last week you were still
saying that, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:24:47):
They don't make enough, they don't shoot well enough, they
make no threes. Like I think it does matter in.

Speaker 4 (01:24:52):
Today's They've been playing on an elite level this year though,
But I just.

Speaker 3 (01:24:57):
Think it's hard and maybe in these in these gyms
that are weird and right football stadiums that not making three.
And look, the Louisville team that he won with the
thirteen did make threes either, So I mean you can
certainly win that way. I just think now it feels difficult.
If you get behind in a game, you know you
can't shoot your way back into it. You know, it
feels feels hard. But you say John's con certainly great story.

(01:25:18):
I just don't see him keeping I.

Speaker 4 (01:25:19):
Love those great stories, I really do. I guess I'm
always looking for and I'm not gonna call him Cinderella,
but I'm always looking for well, I.

Speaker 3 (01:25:25):
Mean, they have him in this position to start the season. Yeah,
I am gonna do two things in the tournament. I
feel like already the ACC wins over expected in the
last like ten years, and the tournament has been great.
A SEC plays much better on the tournament now part
of the NZ State and whatnot. But like they they're
much better tournament than expected. I'm not curious in that.

(01:25:47):
The second thing I'm gonna do, guys, it's my first
year watching Big Ten basketball.

Speaker 1 (01:25:52):
Okay, as an organ fans, welcome to the Big Ten.

Speaker 4 (01:25:57):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:25:58):
I'm fading all those teams, all of them except maybe
maybe maybe three. Michigan State plays really good defense second
half of games. They're fantastic. They suffocate teams. But I
see why the Big Ten struggles in the in the tournaments.
It's because offensively, it is a boring conference outside of
Wisconsin Illinois. When they're on, they weren't on. Well, I

(01:26:21):
guess they were on. They came back the second half,
They'd be pretty right. They came back then one by eight,
I think in that game, right, they came back in
that game. Oregon can play a little bit of offense,
but they have five minutes stretches where they scored no
points every single game. It's it's actually quite remarkable. I
think leave the country in most minutes, not it's actually
not actually scoring in a row. And in the beginning
game it's it's remark they'll have it today. They won't

(01:26:41):
score for seven minutes at a time. It's it's remarkable.
But like Michigan, I'm gonna wager against Michigan in their
first two game. They're not making have the first weekend.
There's just no chance. These teams just are not good
enough offensively. You watch their games and you're like, when
they have these these these droughts where they don't score,
it's like, go to the basket and get foul. But
they don't go to the basket. They don't make aggressive

(01:27:03):
offensive plays, they don't shoot a lot of foul shows.
Do you watch to see the other day Florida Alabama
was on at the same time as Michigan. Michigan played
last Saturday. Someone in the national TV and Maryland I
think it was Maryland. They're on the same time and
look at two different sports. Wow, I'm just I'm out
in the big ten in the tournament. I see why
they struggle in the tournament. Absolutely see it.

Speaker 4 (01:27:24):
Huh okay, and listen, we've seen what Duke's been doing
all the year. I gotta tell you, this should be
a really awesome NCAA tourner. Looking I'm looking forward to it.
As far as the bubble teams go, though, yesterday's Arkansas
Georgia helped out with their causes with big wins in
the SEC. However, North Carolina North Carolina, they hung tough

(01:27:47):
with Duke for most of the game, but just got
worn down and maybe the best by the best team
in the country. Really, I still think UNC is in
though based on how they played the last I don't
think they got that last month of the season.

Speaker 3 (01:28:03):
So you have we So the ACC's got Duke, Clemson
SMU right, even though I lost yesterday, I think smbn
W losing yesterday. Here's what it depends on, is that
how do the mid major conferences go? Because if there's
there are a couple of teams that are like that
are in win or lose. The mid major teams, right,

(01:28:25):
if they lose their conference championship game, then the champion
has to be in and they and then they get
in and there they're bid Steelers. Right, So then this
unc Ohio State who's on the bubble but lost Indiana yesterday,
Oklahoma Oklahoma being in the tournament feels wrong, but it
is what it is right that they bid steal right,
so that like like that the Drake game day, Drake

(01:28:45):
loses today, are they in as automatic as a as a.

Speaker 2 (01:28:49):
The beauty of it, it's the beauty and the the
maddening thing about it, because North Carolina is a good
example that all these Quad one games, they don't win
any of them.

Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
You know that the record sucks.

Speaker 2 (01:29:01):
Against good teams, but it's like then a mid major,
it's like, well, you haven't played those good teams either.

Speaker 1 (01:29:08):
How do we know how we know you do better
than North Carolina? We don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:29:12):
We're taking an estimated gas and you have to compare
resumes that are vastly different. All I know is North
Carolina they're gonna have to have a deep run in
the ACC tournament to sniff the NCAA tournament because they
just don't have their credentials right now. And they hung
with Duke until they weren't hanging with him anymore, you know,
and they had to get that game and they just didn't.

(01:29:33):
So they're odds they're less than fifty percent to get
in there. They're probably in the thirty five ish percent
bracket to get into the tournament because they haven't had
those quality wins throughout the season. Why would you think
they're gonna string them together in the ACC tournament. You know,
I'm not betting on that happening.

Speaker 3 (01:29:52):
I this is I have so I have the take
in the college football world where I think that it
should not be a participation tournament and these smaller schools
should never get in the postseason. I'm very elitist, but
for college basketball, I would much rather see if we're
picking seventy two teams in this freaking thing that like

(01:30:15):
team seventy one is a mid major than the twelfth
best SEC team, like like like as Oklahoma better than
Let's use Drake for example, better than Drake. Probably I
think that beat him. But who cares. I don't want,
I don't I don't care. I've put Drake, Like, let
Drake have fun in the tournament, you know what I mean? Like,
let like that's what Oklahom's not winning the tournament, right,

(01:30:37):
So why why bother putting them in? Just to say
you put in another SEC team and like, give me,
give me the Indiana State. Last year I was left out,
like give me those teams, let them let him go
to the dance.

Speaker 2 (01:30:48):
I don't an issue with that.

Speaker 4 (01:30:50):
Yeah, I'm friends with I was just with them. Actually
in Connecticut. One of the best college basketball handicappers in
the world worked for Billy Walters for over a decade,
Alan Boston, and he just rips apart the committee and
every year for the mid majors, and he's like Indiana State,
like it's it's it's got to be a tough job,

(01:31:12):
you know, on these guys. But but a guy like
Boston who is so enamored, he does his own he's
old fashioned, literally from scratch with tablets on each team handicapper,
and you know, it's got to be a tough But
he is really tough on there on this committee and says,
how these kids get screwed every year and it's a

(01:31:34):
tough job though. It's so tough selections.

Speaker 1 (01:31:36):
That I really do.

Speaker 2 (01:31:37):
I get both sides of the argument, because let's say
you're Oklahoma and you sit there with your bad conference
record and you're like, we would kill to have Drake's
schedule right now, Do you realize what we've played and
what we faced this year?

Speaker 4 (01:31:52):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:31:52):
Like, so I get both sides of that where to
your point, Jeff, it's one of these where we know
Oklahoma or or we know North Carolina that when they're
playing the big boys, that they're not fair. Yeah, we
don't know how Drake or one of those mid majors
would have done facing the same gauntlet, but they might
not do anybody.

Speaker 3 (01:32:13):
But they have different players though, right, So it's unfair
to do that because Drake has has whatever I don't
know what conference, Missouri Valley, the Missouri Valley players, Oklah,
let's see players and you can't. To me, you just can't.
You got to compare them with the schedules they play.
But understand that neither are going to win a tournament,
but that Drake not deserves to be in. But they

(01:32:34):
handled their schedule better relative than Oklahoma their schedule.

Speaker 1 (01:32:38):
I get that.

Speaker 2 (01:32:39):
I just see the other side of that.

Speaker 1 (01:32:41):
That's right. It's we know that you know, resume or resume.

Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
You can argue Drake's resume is better than say Oklahoma
or North Carolina. Absolutely, I just wonder if you want
them in the tournament facing the same teams, right, Like, Yeah,
at some point, who you played and who you beat
it has to matter absolutely, And it's funny we did
this with college football. We did the quality losses thing

(01:33:09):
you have so many in college basketball.

Speaker 1 (01:33:11):
It's differ an equation.

Speaker 3 (01:33:12):
Yeah, absolutely. I do think Al in Boston, though, is
going to fade Michigan in the post season two.

Speaker 4 (01:33:18):
Michigan.

Speaker 2 (01:33:19):
By the way, our guy Chris Purfet, technical producer, he's
got something he might be fading Michigan as well. What
do you have, Chris?

Speaker 11 (01:33:25):
I I always like to fade Michigan just as just
just as one who has a lot of Spartan friends
in my life. But to Jeff's point about first off,
I'm against it. I love small, small teams in the tournament.
But also I think to Jeff's point about having more
small teams in the stories you get from them, Like
I keep watching up on on the TV. They keep
replaying this clip of what is this Nebraska Oklahoma. They're

(01:33:46):
like taking turns of pile driving a trash can in
their in their locker room. That's what we get out
of the small schools. I want more of that. I
can't have that kind of fun with Oklahoma. I want
more stars doing quirky stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (01:34:01):
But I think, like like Brian's point, like you mentioned earlier, Brian,
about like conference tournaments essentially, but like you're gonna get it.
A mid major is gonna treat this tournament like the
super Bowl. Sure Oklahoma might, but they know they're not
winning a championship. You know, like the mid major knows
that too, But they're gonna treat this like it's the

(01:34:23):
biggest game of their entire left. And for Oklahoma it's
like it's not. It's not the biggest game of They're
left to be in the tournament to play a round
one game, and you know in Milwaukee at noon Eastern,
it's just not gonna be the same. So yeah, look,
I the tournament's gonna be fun. Is we are watching
more basketball collectively. I go back to what Crack said

(01:34:45):
a couple of weeks ago. Guys like first half underdogs
in the tournament. There are so many of these games,
yes on Saturdays, where the first half the underdog is
playing great or second half they just get there. They
just get there, they get their butts kicked. Now we
have seen more upsets the last couple of days as
we get to the end of March, and like today,
like Michigan State, I think they beat Michigan in cover

(01:35:07):
right now. The first game they played a couple of
weeks ago, the second half they were fantastic. They wouldn't
covering that game in Michigan. But the way the Alabama
game went yesterday, some of these other games, like Penn
State went into Wisconsin and beat them by doublding eleven yesterday.
I am kind of leary of taking Michigan State here
seven and a half points. It's a big number, but

(01:35:29):
I just I'm I'm maybe out on Michigan. I don't know.
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:35:33):
You might be burned from the last Michigan game.

Speaker 3 (01:35:36):
You know a lot of the Michigan games. I just
I feel, which means that they're gonna probably beat Michigan
State today.

Speaker 1 (01:35:41):
It's it's been uh do you want to know something?

Speaker 3 (01:35:44):
I know I'm rambling here, but funny, uh So, women's
college basketball, it's a good sports to wager on, if
you if you pay attention just a little bit. One
thing that has been profitable for me over the years
is in conference tournaments, and in round one and two
is taking the really good teams to by a lot
of points. They dominate the bad teams. So conference tournament

(01:36:05):
day one was Thursday and then Friday. Now I only
wagered on three of the games for the games and
for the games, but the top twenty five teams in
college in women's college basketball, twenty of them play games
against unranked teams in the first two days, Thursday and
Friday of their conference serments. Their conference moments are happening now.
As you see ACCL big ten went not two of

(01:36:29):
the twenty ranked teams crack ranked versus unraked covered the
spread two of eighteen I mean twenty two and eighteen,
like thirteen and a half, fifteen half these big big numbers.
And then it got sort of better yesterday with Florida
or with LSU would But now, how crazy is that
two of twenty raked versus underranked teams cover the spread

(01:36:53):
in the first two days of conference tournaments.

Speaker 4 (01:36:55):
That's unbelievable. Really. And now that you said draft the
Michigan State game today, did you bet the game or
you're not betting the game?

Speaker 3 (01:37:01):
I haven't decided. Starts in like thirty minutes. A better
side what I think I'm gonna do is my son
has a baseball lesson at twelve forty five. It's about halftime,
so I'll probably look at the score. I'll probably look
at the score and.

Speaker 4 (01:37:16):
Okay, a second half.

Speaker 3 (01:37:18):
Well, Michigan State's really good in the second half of games.
They they dominated. That's how they be Michigan the first time,
be organized, or they were down fourteen or fifteen or
organ a halftime and won that game covering. So I
might look at the second half here.

Speaker 4 (01:37:30):
Yeah, bet MGM again, I always look at this bet
MGM's line compared to the other lines, either they have
opinions or they have took some bets on Michigan State.
Seven's all everywhere in the country. The most supportant sports
books in the country too, that that make the line
for other ones to copy. And yet bet MGM they're

(01:37:52):
sticking at seven and a half. So I couldn't lay
that hook though, couldn't if anything, if anything with bet MGM,
you have to bet the dog. You cannot lay because
there's key numbers in college basketball they rank two, three, five.
I'm gonna put seven in there too. Some of the
sharpest people in the world have told me to buy

(01:38:13):
on the buy which costs ten cents extra, which, by
the way, it's called alternative lines. With the sports books
that came to this country seven years ago, eight years ago.
It's not called buying points like it is in the
old days. What even the Vegas casinos, you know, onto
the numbers are very very key. So seven will be

(01:38:33):
one of the probably the fifth choice as a key number.
But I couldn't lay the seven and a half there,
only could take it. But I just wonder, what were
you thinking there about that game, Brian, You have anything
on that big game here, Michigan State Michigan or not? Really?

Speaker 2 (01:38:47):
Man, I might look to the first half, you know.
That's the thing is, Michigan State is a different team
in the second half. I like what you're saying about.
If you're doing anything, you got to be on the
dog with the hook over there seven and a half.
But I might look to the first half in that one.

Speaker 3 (01:39:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:39:01):
Might I might have a little play on this at
the end of the show. It's possible, you know, but
I might like something better. We got Bill Krackenberger, a
professional sports handicapper. Jeff Schwartz, eight year NFL veteran. I'm
probably in no use code countdown at BETMGM and receive
up to fifteen hundred dollars back in bonus bets if
you don't win your first bet. When you register with betmgm,
you'll get instant access to a variety of parlay selection features,

(01:39:24):
live betting options, signature bets, and the best daily promotions
in the business. Again, use code countdown you'll get up
to fifteen hundred dollars back in bonus bets if you
don't win your first bet. All right, coming up next
a lower asking price. It is Fox Sports Radio's Countdown
presented by BETMGM. It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown presented

(01:39:46):
by BETMGM. Be sure to check out the Fox Sports
Radio YouTube channel. Just search Fox Sports Radio on YouTube
and you'll see a whole bunch of video highlights from
our shows. Be sure to subscribe so you always have
instant access to our Fox Sports Radio videos on YouTube. Okay,
so the NFL news does not stop. We could do
NFL stuff for the next eight hours. Easy, easy. But

(01:40:10):
one of the stories is the lowered asking price from
the Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (01:40:15):
So they are trying to trade.

Speaker 2 (01:40:18):
They're disgruntled wide receiver DK Metcalf who was requested to trade.
So the news is the Seahawks they're open to a
return that centers around a second round pick, not a
first round pick, so a lowering of the asking price.

Speaker 1 (01:40:35):
I'll tell you what, Dk Metcalf.

Speaker 2 (01:40:37):
You start playing this game and you look at the
Patriots come to mind, who don't have wide receivers. That'd
be pretty interesting if he landed there with Trake May
because they've tried to get some of these known wide receivers.
Has it worked out. So we'll see if the Pats
can get in on DK Metcalf. But he's still a

(01:40:58):
difference maker. Curious where he ends up.

Speaker 3 (01:41:02):
I'm shocked the first round pick they couldn't find one,
the first and the third river, the whatever crazy thing
that that they look after the moon, right, ask for
the moon and uh but I said, when the when
I saw this happen, that it was impossible to the
first round pick for DK just wasn't happening. One thing, guys,
One thing that's so clear about some of these trades,

(01:41:24):
what we think the value is for a player is
not with the NFL. Thanks. I mean, Joe Toney was
traded all pro guard for a fourth round pick next season. Yeah,
and and look here's here's I think why. Okay, we'll
go back to DK in the second here. As I
mentioned earlier, the Prigian class this year is not great.
I think from now on it's not going to be

(01:41:45):
good because teams are realizing that developing and signing your
own players is just far better than going out and
getting other players. Javon Hargrave was the was it was
the big purchase last year by the Niners. Cut in
year one, right, like these guys every year you sign
these high price phrages. Christian Kirk got traded, remember when
he was Brian the wide receiver got paid all that

(01:42:07):
money couple of years ago. There's a reason the team
that has that player is going to let them go.
They've been with the guy four or five years, and
they still don't want to pay the homegrown player that
they've drafted and developed. Like there's and I know players
sometimes take less to stay, but a lot of players
too want to just stay where they're at. They're not

(01:42:28):
chasing two Bowls of twenty five years old, twenty six
years old. Now when they're older, of course they're chasing
Super Bowls. But right now they just want to get
paid stay where they're at. So when players hit phra agency,
you have to ask the question of why that is,
I think teams just realizing like, let's just sign and
keep our own and so that's why these draft picks,
to me are getting scarcer to get these high draft

(01:42:50):
picks for the players. The teams want to keep their
own players. So back to DK, so you know when
you ask for first round picks is not gonna happen.
There's two types of trade requestion or news that we
get in the NFL. The first is a team saying
we're open for business for ex player DeVonta Adams Jets.
As you said for example, right, That means they're going

(01:43:11):
to cut the player and they want to put it
out there to get some sort of trade value for
the player before they cut them. It happened with him
and Jonathan Allen and Christian Kirk, all these guys.

Speaker 9 (01:43:21):
Right.

Speaker 3 (01:43:21):
Then there's a trade request that comes from the player
where the team allows the player to seek a trade
for a couple of reasons. One is that they're okay
with that player being traded, but they want to see
what the market is sure because that player wants a
contract extension. So it's DK sort of Matt Stafford.

Speaker 1 (01:43:38):
Stafford and they don't know what.

Speaker 3 (01:43:40):
The market is, so the teams let the players go
find the market and they come back to them. So
with DK, it's it's that's what it is, right. The
Seattle said, go find a market. If we like, the
market will trade you if we like, if we like
the money, it will keep you. So that to me
feels different than other sort of situations. Brian, I think
Seattle was not sold on trading him, but they get

(01:44:02):
the right offer, they might if they get the money right,
they might want to keep him. Like there's there's many
questions still left. I think with DK, it's not as
clear as he's gone. No matter what.

Speaker 4 (01:44:13):
You know, the Barkley rays is obviously well deserved. You'd
have to agree that he's the main reason why the
Eagles won it all this year and was the most
dominant running back in the NFL am I right, you guys.

Speaker 3 (01:44:26):
It made is probably strong. But I think that that
they had a fully loaded rocket ship and he was
the booster, you know, like he was he was the
one that made it go at the end. But they
were very good at a lot of positions. I mean
they hit home runs everywhere.

Speaker 4 (01:44:41):
Yeah, do you guys agree, Like, like when that trade
was made, I said, boy, Giants fan, I gotta be furious.
What do they feel like now?

Speaker 2 (01:44:51):
I think, well, Brian, I was just gonna say that's listen.
I'm not a lot of what you said about free
agency is true, Jeff. You have to ask yourself, hey,
why is this team content with letting this guy go
instead of paying him and then the next team is
maybe paying top dollar.

Speaker 1 (01:45:09):
You might not be getting the value that you think
you're getting. Every now and then.

Speaker 2 (01:45:12):
There are exceptions where Saquon was released, you know, from
the Giants, we think about that, or you know, Derrick
Henry being on the open market where you look at
their teams and it's like it doesn't make sense with
the lack of talent that they have, and you get
one of these difference makers on the open market.

Speaker 1 (01:45:31):
That can happen.

Speaker 2 (01:45:32):
So, I know you're not painting in absolutes, but it's
one of these things where I think, really, to your point,
there are more exceptions in free agency that turn out
to be big difference makers, because if they are true
difference makers, chances are those teams are retaining those players,
they're not putting them on the open market.

Speaker 3 (01:45:51):
Correct. That's the way it works. That they're retaining those players.
Look crack the Barkley thing. The Giants fans should not.
They're gonna be upset. He wanted the cham of the Eagles,
but the fact is Barkley at the salary he wanted
would not provide the Giants what they're looking for. The

(01:46:12):
Giants were not a sickle on Barclay for me good
last season. You're basically wasting him by hanging all that
money to stay in New York. What the Giants should
have done years ago is let Barkley go and franchise
Daniel Jones for one season, and then last year they
would have had a rookie quarterback and would have been
in a much better situation. He said this year in
a panic to get Cam Wader to their Sanders. It's

(01:46:32):
the Giants have a long, years long mismanager of that roster. Actually,
Barkley was the best thing they've done in recent years.
It should not. They don't need a running back. They
should not be paying Barkley twenty million dollars a year
to be their running back. That's not what they need.
They're not close to winning championships. It would be a
waste of money, in my opinion, to paying that money.

Speaker 4 (01:46:50):
And you know, as far as MECF requesting a trade
after Gino gets shipped out, I don't know if it's
really that surprising. I mean, the case such a physically
dominant wide receiver, I think he just wants to be
able to contend. There may be a proofing quarterback at
this point. I don't know. The Patriots maybe if it's
if it's about money.

Speaker 3 (01:47:08):
He said he wants to go summer warm. That was
the news, that was the tweet today.

Speaker 1 (01:47:11):
That wouldn't be the Patriots.

Speaker 3 (01:47:12):
So we all do we all some are warm. DK's
interesting guys, because every time I wager on is over
in a game, he would never get there.

Speaker 1 (01:47:22):
He just right, He never get off to the best
start up.

Speaker 3 (01:47:26):
You know there cotches fifty seven yards in the first
half and then to two yards the rest of the game.

Speaker 1 (01:47:31):
Yeah that's yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:47:33):
DK's nearing thirty. You know, these big, physical wide receivers
don't have a shelf life quite like other wide receivers, right,
and you gotta pay Like the equation here is you
have to pay him too, right, So you have to
you have to trade for him in assets and then
give him a lot of money too. And I think
it's going to really scare teams away.

Speaker 2 (01:47:53):
Well, we'll pick this up because the the Geno Smith
connection is interesting to me if you think about DK's value,
who his quarterback just was and that sort of thing.
So we'll get into that. But hey, we talk about value.
I mean this is haha. Smooth transition to Isaac Loewenkron,
who is the MVP of the update game. I low

(01:48:16):
with the latest what's going on?

Speaker 6 (01:48:17):
I went, actually, Brian, with you pumping me up all
these years with your very generous introductions, you the real MVP.

Speaker 2 (01:48:31):
Appreciate that.

Speaker 6 (01:48:32):
Now I'm gonna go demand a trade and tweet passive aggressively.

Speaker 1 (01:48:36):
That's how it goes.

Speaker 6 (01:48:38):
Guys, It's been a busy day and the latest break
news comes from college basketball. NC State has just fired
head coach Kevin Keats after eight seasons. Keats led the
wolf Pack to the Final Four last year, but they
were twelve and nineteen this season. In the NFL, today,
the Buffalo Bills released eight time Pro Bowl pass rusher
Von Miller to Claire salary cap space, but both parties

(01:49:01):
are reportedly open to Miller returning to the Bills in
Major League baseball, New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez has
a broken left hand and is expected to be out
six to eight weeks. In college football, the Toledo Blade
reported today that Bowling Green is hiring former NFL star
running back Eddie George as its new head coach. George

(01:49:21):
spent in the past five seasons as the head coach
at FCS Tennessee State, which went nine to four last season. Finally,
in the NBA, on Saturday night, the Boston Celtics depe
to the Los Angeles Lakers, one eleven to one oh one,
breaking the Lakers' eight game winning streak. Lebron James had
to leave the game of the fourth quarter with a
left groin string.

Speaker 1 (01:49:40):
Guys, back to you, thank you, I Low.

Speaker 2 (01:49:43):
It is Fox Sports Radio's Countdown, presented by BETMGM.

Speaker 1 (01:49:46):
Shortly after the show, our podcast would be going up.

Speaker 2 (01:49:49):

check it out. Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you

it again. Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get
your podcast and you'll see the show posted right after
we get off the year. That's the thing to me
about DK Metcalf, where I'm thinking, if you match him
with a real like upper echelon quarterback not named Geno Smith,

(01:50:12):
I still think he's got a lot of gas left
in the tank. I hear you, Jeff, as far as
physical and his game doesn't really translate to old. But
I would argue he's not old enough yet right like
you could still get two three years the next contract.
I still think he could be very productive depending on
who he's matched up against. Matched up with, I just

(01:50:33):
I'm not a big Geno guy. Like the Raiders are
doing backflips. It just shows how sucky their quarterback's position
has been these last hand full of years. Man, Like
the Chiefs are like Geno Smith. The Chargers, if they
downgraded from Herbert to Gino, They're like, what are we
doing over here? It's like Geno Smith through twenty one

(01:50:54):
touchdown passes in fifteen picks last year, he had dk Metcalf,
Jackson Smith and Jigba a very good young wide receiver,
and Tyler Lockett.

Speaker 1 (01:51:05):
You can do a whole lot worse than that.

Speaker 2 (01:51:07):
And he's going for twenty one and fifteen and yet
these people are well, it was a little bit banged
up Patrick Mahomes, his legs couldn't work, and he would
do better than Toy. What do you mean, It's like
I could pick him up like Byron Leftwitch at Marshall,
Like he can just get the snap, he can't move.
He could give you twenty one and fifteen with those
wide receivers. Geno Smith is nothing special, and so I

(01:51:30):
think that DK can be undervalued a little bit because
you're not playing with an upper echelon quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:51:38):
I think Gino Smith is a perfectly average quarterback, and
we like his story, so we like him a little
bit better. But he had that like that first half
of one season where he was good and he realizedn't been.
He's middle of pack at best. I think Seattle, look

(01:52:02):
think about this, Seattle. They have a brand new staff
one year with him and they're out, like, no, we're
good any year that doesn't have a great quarterback class
in the draft, the fridge, the windows knock. Grammy and
Sam Donald that much better than Geno Smith, I don't
think so more expensive, probably too, but they're just like, yeah,
we're out of the Geno business very quickly. Is that

(01:52:22):
kind of Is that very telling? I want to think
about him.

Speaker 2 (01:52:24):
Yeah, it is very telling.

Speaker 4 (01:52:27):
What kind of what kind of money do the Raiders
give him? You said average quarterback? Doesn't it?

Speaker 1 (01:52:32):
Don't give him an average quarterback billion?

Speaker 4 (01:52:34):
I was gonna say less.

Speaker 1 (01:52:36):
Wow, going right, man, sick.

Speaker 2 (01:52:39):
It is Daniel Jones got forty million dollars.

Speaker 4 (01:52:44):
That's crazy, that's so crazy idea. I got one sixty
for four years.

Speaker 8 (01:52:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:52:48):
Wow, I'm going to give Smith the same kind of
a deal, like a three year, one hundred and twenty million.

Speaker 3 (01:52:52):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:52:53):
Yeah, that's why I mean, ask yourself this, which is
a better chance of Like DK goes to a team
with the better quarterback and his numbers pop, or Geno
Smith goes to the Raiders and I don't know, they
draft a wide receiver, they do something in free agency
and his numbers pop like like, which the odds are

(01:53:13):
that DK metcalf is gonna do better going forward than
Gino does.

Speaker 1 (01:53:17):
That's what I think. You guys agree with that? Yes, yeah, yeah,
I think that's the way it's gonna go.

Speaker 2 (01:53:25):
All right, We've got Bill Krackenberger, professional sports handicapper, Jeff
Schwartz with US eight year NFL veteran. I'm Brian know
all right, coming up next Rapid Fire Picks. I think
we've all talked about, Yeah, it might take this, I
might take that.

Speaker 1 (01:53:40):
Well, it's time to pick.

Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
Something, you know. And we've got Cracks played the day
as well, so definitely stay tuned for that. That is
coming up around the corner. It's Fox Sports Radios Countdown

(01:55:09):
All right, we got some picks to make. Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (01:55:14):
Rapid fire.

Speaker 2 (01:55:17):
Okay, Crack, you're up first. What's something you like?

Speaker 4 (01:55:20):
Let's go to one of these first half unders in
the Atlantic Sun Conference championship game Lipscomb, North Alabama under
sixty seven in the first half. Like to play these
first half unders, and this one kind of opened up
sixty seven and a half, down to sixty seven, sixty
six and a half. Let's go under first half.

Speaker 3 (01:55:42):
Okay, man, I had a queen's ticket for this game
forty five to one. They lost overtime. It had been
fun to have that, all right. I mentioned I like
joker or tip off in af you in about an
hour here, hour and a half, over twenty two and
a half rebounds and assist, we got the thunder.

Speaker 2 (01:56:05):
Okay, I'm looking at Michigan. Give me the first half.
I'll take four and a half points. Here, give me
Michigan plus four and a half. Sparty, listen, Sparty, is
you know this, Jeff, your ducks. Your ducks went crazy
on Sparty in the first half, scored fifty points, and
then Sparty in the second half they put the clamps
on you.

Speaker 1 (01:56:24):
So give me Michigan.

Speaker 2 (01:56:26):
A team that has talent, especially the Biggs, and played
badly the last time out, a lot of turnovers, very sloppy.
So I think their focused rivalry game. Give me a
give me go Blue in the first half plus four
and a half points, limit the turnovers.

Speaker 3 (01:56:42):
I like it with the way that those last two
weeks have gone, these underdogs in the early in games. Man,
they're sticking right with the favorites.

Speaker 2 (01:56:49):
Yeah. I don't know what's happening with my Big South
play from earlier in the show. It's almost like me
at the end of the confessional booths here but Winthrop
and High Point. I was on one sixty and a
half the over it's plummeted to one fifty seven and
a half. Crack wow, Yeah, all right, we're not getting
the best of the number right there. It could still hit,

(01:57:10):
could absolutely still hit, but not getting the best of
the number on.

Speaker 4 (01:57:14):
One of the one of the pretty sharp syndicates sent
out the under on that about an hour and a
half ago. Coincidentally, right at the same exact time, like
you said it, five minutes later, they were waiting for
you to push up the line and uh boom.

Speaker 2 (01:57:31):
That's right, that's the market just followed. That's exactly what happened.
All right, let's get the Cracks play. Here we go.

Speaker 5 (01:57:41):
This is the best play of the day.

Speaker 4 (01:57:43):
The man.

Speaker 1 (01:57:44):
All right, crack, what are you thinking?

Speaker 3 (01:57:45):
Buddy?

Speaker 4 (01:57:46):
I sent you guys this about three hours ago. Saint
Thomas and Nebraska, O Maha, we're gonna go over. It's
a quick note for this the Summit League Championship. Saint
Thomas can't go to the tournament, so it's not really
a true championship. You know that they are favorite, but
if I just think that they're gonna have a lot
of points score, they're probably a little bit upset to always,

(01:58:08):
you know, when when they can't go to a game championship.
But I'm looking this game opened up one fifty four
down to one forty nine, one forty nine and a
half mgm ahead of the curve here at one fifty
and a half. But yeah, so I'm looking at the
over here. Uh you know, those are the type of
games I want to play. No, I don't want to

(01:58:28):
be betting, you know, on a team like Michigan or
you know today or in Nebraska, Iowa. I just don't
they have so many eyeballs on them. I like to
go with the smaller schools, the smaller championships, these these
conference tournaments even uh so, yeah, all these games win
for a pigh point, these lips comb, like I said,

(01:58:50):
Texas A and m Corpus Christie, you know se Louisiana
Incorninate where these are the teams I'd rather be betting
on less eyeballs on it, which that means literally less
big named people out there talking about them, and we
can actually maybe focus in on some of the total
good stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:59:08):
Crack love all of that. And it's funny how it
worked out. We got a minute left and we actually
have breaking news.

Speaker 5 (01:59:13):
Check it, oh, breaking news from Fox Sports.

Speaker 6 (01:59:18):
The Cleveland Browns and Miles Garrett have agreed on a
new deal. It averages forty million dollars a year. It
includes one hundred and twenty three million dollars in guaranteed money,
making him the highest paid non quarterback in NFL history.

Speaker 2 (01:59:37):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (01:59:38):
Wow, money solves all the issues.

Speaker 1 (01:59:40):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (01:59:41):
I got to go back and read the post from
Miles Garrett of I just want to win.

Speaker 3 (01:59:51):
Money, money solves all problems. You money line against USC today.

Speaker 2 (01:59:58):

Speaker 1 (01:59:59):
