big puppy.
Speaker 3 (00:23):

Let this be a lesson to myself and anybody else
out there. Lives with your knees, guys.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Yes, yes, great and your core. So she is unable

I did it, and this is like a different feeling
than I've ever had. And he was like, you need
to do this.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
Yeah, to do this, like you you need the frozen
vegetables to ice your back. I had the heat pad.
You need the tail and.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
All the bio freeze. That's my nude, the bio freeze roller.
You guys, I am living on that right now.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Mean South Carolina, Like South Carolina was down in the
beginning and then they woke up and then they came back.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
There's ever anybody who has a voice that was born
for radio, and you'll hear it.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
I love that so much. Okay, he's going to join us.
At the bottom of the hour, we have a Rosh
mccasey from The Sporting Tribune and our two executive producer
Ian with us Today technical producer Chris Martin Wise at
the news desk repping is Detroit.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
That was that on purpose, because you know how why
fox Man?
Speaker 2 (03:46):
No, it was By the way, do we have Dodgers
Phillies on somewhere? Can you get that? I think that's
about that's about to start right now. Shout out, uh,
Philly's handed. The Dodgers are first loss of the season
yesterday there now eight and one, and it was from
former Dodger Trey Turner, who made the final out on
Chris Taylor trying to steal a base. But uh no, no,
(04:10):
definitely not like they were apps, Like their bats were
silent until the ninth inning. But before that, the Dodgers
got off to a historic start to the season. They're
the first championship team to start a season going eight
and oh. Six of those eight wins were come from
behind wins, which they were close again to doing yesterday.
But the Dodgers are just the comeback kings. Forty seven
(04:30):
comeback wins last season, which was the most in MLB,
and this season they already had like one of the
most historic comebacks, including which was a Tawny's insane walk
off home run on his MVP Bobblehead night. You just
kind of knew that was gonna happen. I was at home.
I was like, oh, no, he's going to hit a
He's definitely going to hit a walk off home run.
(04:51):
This is what he does. He steps to the play
at the biggest moments and he delivers. But that was
only his second walk off home run in his career,
which is like kind of surprising, just because he's done
so many amazing things.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
You know, he's a two way player, but last year
he was obviously able to focus on hitting, and it's
just it's.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Still on an MVP for it. First ever, what are we?
Was he up right now? I was like, I just
saw you point at the Yeah, laid and off for
the Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Although he made kind of a critical air yesterday as
far as his He made the decision to steal second
base with two outs in the evening and Mookie Betts
was at the plate, so that kind of didn't make
a whole lot of sense to try that, And then TJ.
Real Mudo nailed in Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
I mean phillies are good. Also, like, okay, we're going
to get to this right now, because big conversation in
Major League Baseball this week has been the torpedo bats. Right.
We were live last week watching the end of that
football score Yankee game where they hit nine home runs.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
And it had like just come out as we were
on air that they had done this, like the breaking
news they had innovated, they had written vented a whole
new type of bats.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Which is like genius, like it's absolutely sane. Dodgers players
just ordered them or just kind of getting them this week.
But you have to remember a lot of these, like
the Yankees players and Marlins who have them. Like now,
they've been practicing with this, like all through spring training.
So we're going to play a little game called love
it or hate it right now, and we're gonna start
(06:18):
with MLB's new torpedo bats because personally, a genius yeah,
completed and created this, and it's completely legal. Everybody wants
to see home runs and dingers, right and they can't
do steroids or.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Something runs. I said it kind of jest, but I'm like,
you can't. We can't tell guys that take steroids, but
like if you can, if you can manufacture dingers, uh
with with it in a legal way. Although now, like
there's been back and forth. MLB initially came out and
said yeah, they're legal, then they're like, eh, we're gonna
have to check on it, and now like I'm I'm
(06:58):
all for it, I'm all foreign. I don't know, what
do you think.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Anybody that doesn't like this is just sour grapes or
they don't like the Yankees or they don't like whichever
teams have it. It's fantastic, It's great for baseball. You
want home runs, you want big hits, you want offense.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
That's what's gonna sell tickets, That's what's gonna get booties
in a seat.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
That's what makes it.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
I mean, look, I can appreciate the art of a
picture's duel just as well as everyone else, but like
from day to day, no, I want it.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
You want offensive explosion, dinger city baby.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
You want big hits, you want runs, Yeah, this is
a great way to do that. On top of that,
I want the team that I like to be thinking
of ways to get an edge. Yes, I want the
whole organization thinking about this stuff. And if you're towing
the line, that means you're trying.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
I went to an SEC school. If you're not cheating,
you're not trying you.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
I mean, I grew up an athlete. But it's not
like it's not like illegal cheating. It's like you're pushing
the edge, right, you know the boundaries, you know the rules.
Like the Dodgers with all the deferred money, they're not
doing anything illegal, but they're definitely winning the game in
that sense.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
Look for an edge wherever you go wherever.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Yes, I just I don't this is we should be
rewarding innovations in a sport that has to change. I
mean the pitch clock, and you know, I feel like
that's made the game better. It's made it so much
better more. My big thing is efficiency. I love that
baseball is now more efficient, especially when you're talking about
you one hundred and sixty two games in a season.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Oh that's not including a month of spring training, and
then all of.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
That kind of stuff is a regular season games, So
like you should be trying to actively find way, yes
to make the game more exciting, yea better all of
that kind of stuff. I'm not going to penalize other
teams for coming up with it. First.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
My favorite thing about this and if the league is
going to look at it and determine how they feel
about it, fine, But as long as it's legal, yes,
every team in the league by June will have a
couple of guys with these bats, and every fan base
that's mad about it right now will be loving it
when they're guys are hitting homers.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
And so players that are already like ordered the torpedo bat.
You got Adley Richmond on the oriole. You've got a
couple of Cubs, Dansby Swanson, Reds Ellie de la Cruz, Twins,
Carlos Correa, Mets Francisco Lindoor Yankees obviously have a bunch Phillies,
Alec bowm Like there's there are a good amount like
Max Mounsey ordered it. There's a handful of Dodger players
that just ordered it and just gonna get it. Like
(09:17):
there's if everyone can get it, you can.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Get it at the end of the day, Like this
is going to level the playing field once come more
widely available, and then it's going but it's going to
result in more offense. So you're leveling the playing field
and you're just kind of infusing more offense in the game.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Beautiful overall, which I think is great. It's so beautiful.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
I just really can't believe we got this far without
somebody coming up for somebody did this.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Like, don't get me wrong, this.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Power is going to be Why wouldn't that be where
the most massive the bat is.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
I had never thought to do this, but it's not
my job now, it's not my job to think about
stuff like this. I can't believe it took until twenty
twenty five for somebody to be like, what if we
switched the bat up?
Speaker 2 (09:54):
A little bit mit graduates.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
What if we added more material to the place where
the ball makes contact the most, and wouldn't that maybe
nug that's gonna add.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Act, Like yeah, it's a no brainer. Okay. So it
was also NFL owners meetings this week and there were
a few big rule changes and topics being discussed. So
let's keep that going with the love it or hate it,
and we're gonna start with the tush push that got pushed. Basically,
the NFL isn't doing anything about it right now, and
that vote has been pushed back to a later day.
(10:27):
It had support of sixteen teams, but you need twenty four.
And my thoughts on this is, don't hate the player,
hate the game. The Eagles figured it out a way
to be better than everybody else at something, and they
created a play that can't be stopped. And now everyone
else is upset that they can't do it and they're
trying to get a banned. Stop crying and learn how
to defend it. Like it's not illegal. I think it's
(10:50):
extremely entertaining, Like it'd be different if it was like
not a fun thing to watch. It's still like crazy
to watch and it's so on brand for Philly too,
like it's great for their brand.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
My whole thing that I just wrote on our notes
was like, grow up, grow up, you get over it.
You hear Jason Kelsey talk about it too. What is
going kind of under talked about in this whole discussion
about the Toush push is the reason so many teams
can't do it. Hey, We've talked about Dave and I've
talked about this, like Jalen Hurts is like built a
(11:23):
lab to execute this place. Yes, But the biggest determinant
on whether or not a Toush push works because other
teams try to run it and they don't necessarily run
it to the effecting this that the Philadelphia don't you
do it? It's because of the offensive line. It's and
particularly because of the center, And it should be bringing
more attention to how incredibly important that position is to
(11:44):
get the push up front to allow your quarterback to
get across the line. Is Martin like going getting getting
ready to say something here, I feel like you like
put the mic in front of it, but he's like,
I'm ready, No, okay, I just I think we need
to talk about more the reason that it doesn't work
for his money teams. It's because it's the offensive line
that makes it go. So it's just it's and being
(12:07):
someone who really appreciates it and things that they go
under appreciate it. I'm glad that this conversation is coming
up because I'm like, hey, yeah, you need to give
credit where credit is due, and it's to the big
sexy is upfront.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Dude, it's so beautiful. Bryce Harper actually had a great
quote yesterday when he was asked about the Dodgers, but
I think it also really relates to this tush push.
He was asked about the Dodgers and he said, only
losers hate what the Dodgers are doing. And I feel
like that is the exact same with this tush push.
Only losers are hating on the tush. I really thought,
get over it. I got over it.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
I thought you were gonna tell me. Bryce had an
Eagles take, which wouldn't surprise you, because Philly, anyone I've ever.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Seen only losers hate on what winners are doing, Like,
get over it, figure out a way to defend it,
and move on, Like I think.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
It's it's it's been the softest thing ever from the NFL.
The number of people complaining about this, and the one
that really rubbed me the wrong way was Bill's head
coach Sean McDermott talking about player safety, never mind the
fact that he called it four different times in the
AFC Championship.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
So happens to have a quarterback that is pretty well
equipped men, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
Josh Allen should be able to run it at one
hundred percent clip and they can't. He can't do it,
The Bills can't do it. Nobody but Philly can do
it consistently, and so everybody just needs to shut up
and grow up.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
The Bills owner came out and he was like, well,
Jason Kelsey said that it's a really dangerous play. And
Jason Kelsey went on Twitter and was like, you misunderstood
when I think ruling that does not mean dangerous. That
means it's a heavy toss. It's tough, it's a tough
play to do. And he said that when he retired
he was really glad that he doesn't't do it anymore. Yeah,
but he said it's not dangerous.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
I mean you're getting white owned like it's like straight
like power to the head.
Speaker 5 (13:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
And if you're if you're the sinner running that play,
you're gonna wind up under six different players. Erry, I'm
sure it's not fun. But if Jason Kelsey says he
doesn't think it's dangerous, I don't think there's somebody better
equipped to comment on the him.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
He is a tou push, he is, mister.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
I wish we could. Can we get brotherly Shove going?
I think brotherly Shove is such a better name.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
It is, especially because the city of Brotherly well and
still the Eagles are the only ones. I think the
toush bush is good if you are talking about this
being a general thing. And that's the other thing that
I don't get is why are you going to make
sweeping rules and legislation in the NFL for one particular team?
Play play like it's? It doesn't make any I'm.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Like me, Jealousy is a stinky cologne.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
It is.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
If we decided that we were going to make laws
based on what one team does at one time in
a game or what like, that's that's opening up a
wormhole in a can of worms that you don't want.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
No, you don't want that, No, absolutely not. Okay, another
new role love it or hate it? Uh? The NFL
overtime rules so now twenty twenty five, both teams will
receive a possession in overtime during the regular season games.
It's the same that they had in the overtime format
for the postseason last year, and I think it's the
right call. I like years past, it felt like so
(15:14):
much road on the coin flip. If you won the
coin flip, you had better odds to win in overtime. Oh,
I see faces over here, and we might be getting
a different reaction here. I think it's a fair equal shot.
Both teams get a chance, and I love it.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
So I don't think it changes much. And I'm gonna
let Dave tell you why. Okay, because Dave did a
whole show on the NFL and Fox podcast.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
Let's go if we will change, Thanks for the plug. Yeah,
NFL and Fox podcast. You can find it wherever you
get your pods.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
I hate it if.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
We're sticking with the if we're sticking with the name
of this game, and I have to say love or hate,
I hate it because I don't think it's necessary.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Why.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
I was curious. I wanted to know how often does
this really happen? Because you said it and a lot
of people agree. Yeah, everything rides on the coin flip
when you get to overtime.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
But better odds, better odds.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
And that's fair.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
Since twenty twenty two, I went back and looked at
the last three regular seasons. Forty seven games have gone
to overtime in the last three years. Eight of them
were decided on the first possession by a team scoring
a touchdown. Eight out of forty seven featured a team
winning the toss, taking the ball and going and scoring
a touchdown. So you're talking about less than twenty percent
(16:21):
of the time that this actually happens.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Team doesn't get the opportunity.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
Eighty percent of the time over the last three years,
both teams touched the football in overtime. Does that It
absolutely happens where a team takes the ball. My contention,
stop them to go back to the brotherly shove conversation.
Part of football is playing defense and stopping the other team.
(16:46):
Eighty percent of the time, somebody has managed to force
a punt, get a turnover, whatever it.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Is, that field goal, So that thank you hold the field.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
That is part of the sport. And I hate the
idea that is just like, well, what.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Are you gonna do?
Speaker 4 (17:01):
They won the coin toss, you go stop them.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
That's part of the eight games, the eight games that
that team ended up going down the field scoring a
touchdown game over the other team doesn't get the opportunity
to do this. The eight times that that happened that
game was those games are shootouts. Yeah, those games were
an average one of thirty two points.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
Thirty two points per game by the winning team. So
you're talking about games where the defenses weren't really doing
their job.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
Yeah, but again, like the same can go with like
you're gonna have to have defense again. Anyway, when both
people get a shot, now it's just both people get
shot in both defenses. Both offenses get a shot, both
defenses get a shot, So it is an equal fight. Here,
you get one more shot at it. Let's see who
guests at the.
Speaker 6 (17:40):
End of the day.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
I'm fine with it because it will it will assure
both teams get a chance to play offense, and especially
I like that it has been a thing in the
playoffs for a couple of years now. Yeah, because again,
when you get to that stage.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Everything is an oppotion. Everybody wants to see.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
When you're talking about Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, everybody
wants to see both of those guys a chance to touch
the football.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
Please.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
My only point is it's a little bit overblown because
the vast majority of the time teams find a way
to get a stop, because that is ultimately half of
the half of the game is stopping the other Teamfence
matters too.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
I was gonna say it kind of lets defenses off
the hook in this in this scenario because like the
exciting part of overtime in the NFL is the sudden
death aspect of it, or was? I mean, that's what
has you on the edge of your seat. That's what
in regular season games in particular, and it's something that
I love about the sport, that is the high stakes
of that.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
I will say, interesting, I did not expect it to
be that low of a percentage.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
When I started. Neither did I thought it was gonna.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Yeah something like that. Okay, guys, we're gonna take a
quick break here. When we come back, the madness is
almost complete. Who will be crownd the champ? That's next?

Speaker 2 (19:46):
Oo woo Happy March Madness Championship Weekend Men's Final Four
starts in just a bit, but the women's final is set.
Yesterday South Carolina defeated Texas. Yeah, these were these were
like big final score. South Carolina will now attempt to
repeat as national champions for the first time in school history.
The last team to win back to back titles was
Yukon when they won four straight from twenty thirteen to
(20:09):
twenty sixteen.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Team is going to have something to say about it.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Oh yeah, and Don Staley is three and zero in
national title games. South Carolina's head coach, So that's gonna
be fun. And as you just heard Karmi say, Yukon
will be in the finals. They absolutely dominated Ucla yesterday.
They were seven and a half boys faves and it
was like, I mean they've been Yukon has been to
the final four seventeen times in the last eighteen years.
(20:36):
Like this was UCLA's first trip ever to the final four,
even though they were the number one overall, see the
top team in the nation all year, Like you could
see where experience matters and Yukon just they just they.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Were up twenty in the house. Yes, this is the
twenty in the half Yukon.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
So this is gonna be a fun final tomorrow South
Carolina against Yukon. It will be a rematch of the
twenty twenty two title game. We're South Carolina one, so
it's gonna be fun. Yeah, it's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
These are these are I mean Yukon was a two
seed and they were the only two seed in the
women's final four. But they I mean, like I don't
think there's much of a difference there. No, like as
far as there's experience there there, they're a dynasty program. Uh,
it's it's gonna be a really good game. I'm very
excited for this game. But I am I mean, I'm
(21:24):
a huge fan of Don Staley. Yeah, I love everything
about it. I think everyone loves I was gonna say,
like there's I don't know that there's like another head
coach that is so unanimously beloved it's insane.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Like she's just the coolest she she's the Olympics, like
just absolutely living her best life.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
But then she's and she's also like like geeking out
over like Tom Brady and his jawline. I'm just like,
I love you. I love you so much.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Like yes, like we love it so much. Yeah, that's
gonna be so much fun. And like I said, Men's
Final four star in about all number.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
One seeds, which is only the second time it's ever
happened in the modern era. Last time it was two
thousand and eight. This doesn't happen, like four number one
seeds in the men's tournament doesn't happen. So thanks transfer portal.
I feel like this is there are so many domino
effects to with the transfer porter and transfer portal and
the NIL have opened up in college sports. But you
(22:23):
see it so starkly in basketball, and the fact that
these guys like it makes it the big time programs.
It's easier for them to keep their guys because where
else are they going to go, And then it makes
it so that they can get the best transfers as well.
And then you have guys that are also staying in
school longer because of the NIL deals, so they're more
developed and they are more experienced. And so you have
(22:44):
these guys that are coming into tournament play having been
there before for a major.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
D one program and experience matters.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
So I think that we're going to start seeing this
is going to be a trend that might be here
to stay as long as the rules exist how they do,
because it just it makes it levels the playing field
to a degree where the really top teams stay good
and then the bottom teams it's hard to catch up.
So that's why you see four number one seeds powerhouses, yeah,
(23:16):
which which were power up is all season long and
have been now for quite a few years. I mean
Duke obviously, Houston, Auburn, and Florida like yeah, big, big
time SEC programs that their basketball is.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Going to be a fun day. It's going to be
a fun day of madness this afternoon. So we're excited
for that in a couple hours. But now let's check
in with Martin why since he what's trended?
Speaker 8 (23:39):
The Basketball Hall of Fame class at twenty twenty five
officially announced today, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Billy Donovan, Sue Byrd,
Maya More, Sylvia Fowls and referee Danny Crawford, Miami Heat
owner Mickey Harrison, and the two thousand and eight Olympic
men's basketball team all being inducted. The final four from
San Antonio starts in about two and a half hours
(24:00):
six nine first tip one seed Florida, first one seed Auburn,
and then eight forty nine Eastern into the schedule tip
for the second game one seed Duke and verse one
seed Houston. You'll notice a trend there, so first time
four to one seeds have made the final four since
two thousand and eight. As Carmen just said, sixty six
to ninety nine the score with just about six minutes
(24:22):
left in the third quarter between the Knicks and the Hawks.
Let's see og Anobi and crin Leinni Towns leading the
Knickson scoring twenty three and twenty one respectively. Like thirty
point blog aprils rougher NBA scores the rest of the
legal tip off in about three and a half hours.
Major League Baseball scorers Alex, you'll be happy to find out.
Keyke Hernandez just went yard to give the Dodgers the
(24:46):
lead two to one over the Phillies eight to one,
the Dodgers record eight and won. The Dodgers record so
far Phillies six and one. So good matchup there, catch
out one on FS one. Going into the bottom of
the second inning. Bottom of the seventh inning, Minnesota has
a sixth and one and lead over Houston. Top of
the seventh Chicago Cubs with the seventh to nothing lead over.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
The god Oh what a catch, No wonder all the
guy like they're panting to like every guy looking over.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
That was such a good role.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
Oh the Cubs catch right there.
Speaker 8 (25:16):
Yeah, you better salute that guy. Dude, seven to nothing
to score there with a catch, I would have saved.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
I'm happy. My dear friends of mine are taking their
son to their first Cup Clubs game today, and is
the game that he's at. A shout out to the
Gone family. Well, how how old is Rory?
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Is?
Speaker 3 (25:36):
Two and a half I think. And then his sister
Kennedy is with them too, and she's I believe, just
turning six. Okay, so like the kids are, she's been
doing she's been to a few games that she's already
a diehard Cubs fan.
Speaker 8 (25:45):
Well seven and it's a good game to go because
people will be leaving earlier at the kids.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
Sure their mom and dad are very happy. Right now.
National is looking for their second win of the year.
Speaker 8 (25:56):
They might get bottom of the second in three to nothing,
the lead over the Diamond top of the second inning,
the Yankees having one nothing lead over the Pirates, Cardinals,
Red Sox Rangeler top of the first scoreless there, middle
of the second inning, Baltimore has a two to nothing
lead over Kansas City, and we saw the White Sox
drop one another one at home, the Kaigers seven, White
Sox two. Kerry Carpenter three home runs of his last
(26:19):
two games. Back to you guys, Oh.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
Thank you, Martin. If you're listening to Fox Sports Saturday,
I'm Alex Curry, Hew Carmen Vitali. We're broadcasting live from
the Tire dot Com Studios in Los Angeles, and it
is time for our first guest, the Voice of Nashville.
He covers the Titans for a to Z Sports, the
host of one of four to five The Zone and
hosting right here in Fox Sports Radio tomorrow. Please welcome
Buck Rising.
Speaker 6 (26:39):
Oh no, yeah, let me back on here. What a
terrible idea.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
Yes, we love it. Buck.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
You were at the owner's meetings this week. Paint the
picture for us who have never been. What was the
week like? What can you tell us from your time there?
Speaker 6 (26:55):
Oh? Well, it's one of the more impressive weeks of
the NFL calendar. It's, you know, a bunch of billionaires
and a beautiful old Palm Beach hotel talking about all
the different decisions that are going to affect all of
our work lives from the from the NFL perspective, and
it's a really it's just a really cool scene for
(27:15):
the couple of days that you're down there, and a
lot of important decisions are being made about what the
upcoming NFL calendar will look like, things like the kickoff
that continues to be altered, the instant replay expansion that's
going to allow teams to get more consistency with the calls,
which is something that coaches are dying for. We'll see
how it affects the flow of the game. And then
(27:37):
you know, deal gets that like potentially a trade for
the number one overall picked if you're the New York
Giants and the Tennessee Titans and you know you're happen
to catch coffee.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
On the lawns.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Yeah, yeah, all work trips look like this, right, book,
that's what That's what everything looks like when you go
on there.
Speaker 6 (27:52):
Oh, this is a good one. Carm you missed out man,
owners made a slap.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
I know, I know it does, and I don't want
to talk about it, okay because I wasn't there. However,
you were, and tell me about that conversation.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
While that was a nice tea drop.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
How likely is it that the Tennessee Titans aren't just
running up the price for the number one pick and
are actually interested in training it, training it.
Speaker 6 (28:14):
Oh, not at all, because the city of Nashville will
burn if they don't. At this point, you're kidding me.
They're two conditions, like they have no choice. You got
Nate Tice out there on the internet talking about you know,
diet coach Steve McNair, which the band do you.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Really call him that? Oh my god, I love Nate.
Speaker 6 (28:31):
It's awesome. So it's been it's been very cam word
or nothing around here, really quarterback or nothing around here.
And they they have tried to They have tried. They've
been thorough right. They went through the hoops that you
need to go to. They even faked their way through
the Shador Sanders pro day yesterday where they don't done
(28:52):
the head coach and they had the private workout, and
now the private workouts canceled because all they've seen enough
takes keep it moving, Bud. That's that's just kind of
where things have fallen for them. They've explored their options.
I think there's still people in the building who would
like to see a trade back for for more assets
(29:13):
because they got needs everywhere. But this is not it's
just not happening this year right now, and so we'll
probably say came more than Nationale Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Okay, you're feeling confident about that.
Speaker 6 (29:24):
They came better. Okay for my blood pressure and okay.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
So we started our show with some of the notable
rules changes in playing a love it or hate it game,
But one thing that got pushed was the touch push.
What are your feelings on this? Do you think it
needs to be banned or is it a get over
it and stop whining to the rest of the m
And what do the Titans think?
Speaker 6 (29:54):
The Titans were diplomatic about it. Brian Callahan really wasn't
showing his call cards at the coaches breakfast, but did
talk about the elements of it the major of football play,
and I think that's just what it is, Like I
get the whole Now we're getting into the nuances of
no pushing and no pulling in football and like, okay, fine,
but that sounds like a disaster from an officiating standpoint,
(30:18):
And what the Tursch push is is just a highly
effective play run by a team that's very, very good
at it. And you see teams all over the place
trying to do it, teams in opposition, like who proposed this?
The band the Green Bay Factors that I'm Matt Lafleur
talked about that at the Coach's breakfast, like yeah, I
mean honestly, we tried it and the Eagles are better
(30:39):
at it. And he was explaining all the different things
and the thing that they that drives me crazy is
they keep citing the health and safety data of this
that does not exist. No, so I you know, I mean,
the whole thing feels a bit petty thanks to me,
So I'm for it.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Yeah see, But also like if you can't do it,
it's not a health issue for you, It's only a
health issue for the tea and that's actually able to
execute it, which is Philly.
Speaker 6 (31:06):
And even then, the numbers don't exist.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
No, the numbers don't exist. And when you have the guy,
the single best guy on the planet at executing it,
and Jason Kelsey coming out and being like y'all are soft. Yeah,
just like take his word for it. Anyway, I wanted
to talk to something like something you mentioned off the top,
because I think it's going to have a tremendous effect
on the third phase of the game, which is special
teams moving the touchback line to the thirty five yard line.
(31:32):
We heard Darren Rizzy, special teams coordinator, talk about how
he could he estimates that we could see return rates
of seventy to seventy five percent this year, which drastically
overles that entire the entire strategy of special teams. Like,
what did you hear from coaches about how they're now
going to have to basically confront this and what the
strategy is going to be now when you're going to
(31:53):
have to return the ball.
Speaker 6 (31:55):
It's just kind of like a like a heavy shy
when you talk to these coaches, like we're going to
change these things, and that's fine, Like you adapt and
to your point, it is now going to be a
part of the strategy, which frankly I'm for Like the
only thing that I heard kind of bemoaned about this
earlier in the week in Palm Beach is just the
(32:18):
idea of starting at the thirty five and that teams
are just going to start settling for field goals. It's
not going to increase scoring the way that they want
to if it's just less distance traveled and that really
being the only thing that's being heavily debated, and I
think a lot of people talk a great deal more
than they expected to about it that week in debating
back and forth. It's what they are doing is working,
(32:42):
even if there are some hurdles or some early bumps
to it with adapting the kickoff and getting it back
to being like an actual football player that you have
to sit there and watch, which is exactly what they want.
I think that as they work through the experimental phases
of this, it wasn't it wasn't so hard for teams
to adapt. They shouldn't continue to tinker with us.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Okay, and then another rule, change your thoughts on the overtime.
Now both teams will get a chance to kind of
go for it, opposed to whoever won the coin flip
kind of you run offense the other team, you better
stop them or you're done. Thoughts on that.
Speaker 6 (33:19):
Thank god. I mean, that's keep it short and sweet,
like that's just that's just the way it should be.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
Thank you, thank you. That's what I said too. It's fair,
everyone gets a fair shot.
Speaker 6 (33:30):
Yeah, you know, I mean, listen, I want to see
more football. Yeah, people complaining about this or anti more football,
and I can't live with those people.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
Yeah, I've got to. I've got a stat for you,
and I'll offline with you about that, Buck, because I
just don't think this matters that much. But it's a
conversation for another time when we already had. But we're
gonna have to. I think we're gonna have to let
you go. Thank you so much for coming on with
us back.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Yeah, we appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Welcome to borrow too.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
Yeah, what time are you on?
Speaker 1 (33:55):
Drop it four to seven.
Speaker 6 (33:56):

Woop woop. It is time for the who's the don'ts
in sports?
Speaker 6 (35:02):
Highlight the dudes? Oh?
Speaker 7 (35:03):
I love that putting a spotlight on.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
The don't the subject brings me no joy.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
That's insane.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
It's time for the dues and the don'ts in sports.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
Okay, I'm gonna start with the du I mean, I
got a lot of dudes today. Do support greatness. Last night,
Alex Ovechkin officially tied the great Ones all time NHLD
goal goals record, scoring number eight hundred and ninety four.
Wayne Gretzky was in attendance and has been to all
the Capital's games to be there to watch it happen.
(35:37):
But the best part is last night, Ovechkin had a
chance to go back in with an empty net, and
he says he doesn't want to break the record that way.
He wants to earn it and he wants to score it,
which is just you love what the greatness.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
I just can't believe that he's still playing like it's.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
Great, he's great. I know, fully, Gray, I know it's
in spe I know.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
I'm like, that's not the ov.
Speaker 5 (35:59):
I grew up.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
I grew up with him. I seriously like grew up
watching Exandra Rebudskin a huge hockey where we're a huge
hockey caushold. I grew up a huge hockey fan. We
love and I honestly I love it that like in
hockey you can really guys can play for so long.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
It's amazing.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
I'm gonna be sad when he's not, but.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
Like look at this, like going out on top.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Oh yeah, it's fantastic. Okay, I have a do do
support your kids, because the best kind of viral moment
happened this week when Dan Orlovsky's son Madden and his
art were featured on NFL Live on ESPN for World
Autism Awareness Day. Madden, Oh my god, I think everybody
is crying. I don't know how Laura Rutledge and Mina
(36:43):
Kai and I mean Dan didn't keep it together. I
wouldn't have had I wouldn't have either. Just watching it
back so I and Marcus spears too, just like him
calling him uncle Swago. I know. So if you haven't
watched it, it's been all over. I think every social
media and and Laura has reposted it, Mina has reposted.
I think both Laura and Mina's profile pictures are now
(37:03):
the pictures that Matt and drew them. And he's just
an incredible kid, such a sweet kid, and so incredibly
talented and so showcasing. Like darre Oloski said that those
were drawings that he has done over the years. He
just has books and books of all of these crazy
drawings that are so so good, and they use them
as graphics for World Autism Awareness Day. So kudos to
(37:25):
the Orloski family, Kudos to ESPN.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
That was such a cool Got a friend, Yes, like.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
That, drew Woody and buzz from twice.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
That's when I lost it. I know, that's when I
lost it. Okay you do you? Oh oh oh oh.
Going back to the first one the first do.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Let's go back.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
Let's go back. He said, he haveskin sound. You just
have some sound of Abchkins saying he doesn't. He didn't
want to score on an open net. Okay, wanted to
be more special. Yeah, yeah, which you know that makes sense,
which we love, which we said, Okay, let's go to
the next do you, honey. I'm not sure if you
saw the Livy done in Paul Skean's GQ photoshoot, but
it was. It was hilarious.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
We've established that Davis, my fiance, went to LSU or
anything Paul does, I am acutely aware of.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
Oh my god, for that matter. Yeah, it was good.
It was getting some heat. But like you've to remember,
these are college aged kids who are in love at
the height of their sports. Like Livy was in her
like gymnastics and leotards and like other leotards and some
of the shots while Paul was eating mac and cheese.
There's a funny kitchen one where she was on the
(38:34):
counter like in the leotard and legwarmers, like with the pan.
There's uh, Paul was at the piano like she literally
flies off of things for a living, Like this is
what she does in a leotard. I thought it was
hilarious and cute. And they're young. These kids are like
they're kids, they're a millionaire kids.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
You guess what. Paul Skins isn't gonna hear you on
social media anyway because he doesn't even have insagram done. No,
because Libby don has really kind of pioneered what NIL
can look like. She's she was, you know, one of
the first major like did some of the first major
NIL deals. Especially has a female athlete in college the game,
(39:15):
so she's she's well versed in all of this and
fall it is just not but speaking of some marketing strategies, yes,
do lean in to uh to maybe some I guess
niche fan base, the niche aspects of your family. The
Red Sox posted a fourth Wing Night where they gave
away flight jackets sick from the Iron Flame series. The
(39:41):
fans it is dragon, It's fantasy romance, and I think
it's it's swept the nation. If you've got a girlfriend,
if you've got a wife, I guarantee you.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
There's red Lea has listened to it. We listened to it.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
I read all three of them now, three that have
been out but they gave away flight jackets that had
rear sin on the back of them, so Zaiden white jacket. Yes,
and if that means something to you, the Red Sox
decided enough to some of their fans and.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
I love it, my god, I love that so much. Okay,
we're gonna take a crook break here when we come back.
QB updates. Listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
Welcome to hour two of Fox Sports Saturday. I'm Alex
Curry here with Carmen Vitally. Thank you for spending your
Saturday afternoon with carme and me happy. Uh March Madness
Final four and Championship weekend Women's final is set for tomorrow.
South Carolina against Yukon. An absolute beat down by Yukon
on UCLA last night, the largest margin of victory in
(40:43):
a Final four game ever. That was just that's going
to be such a fun time.
Speaker 9 (40:47):
It was.
Speaker 3 (40:47):
It was a convincing one by South Carolina, se you
by the end. So these these are two powerhouses. It's
going to be a remax really excited.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
Yeah, Remassage Daily is three and oh in the final,
like we loved on don We've we've confessed our love
for don I'll.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
Show I like Gino too in Yukon, Like he's.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
He's been paid, so he called a perfect game.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
He's such a stable presence in like women's college basketball,
and he goes to bat for his players, and like
it's just it's such a dynasty program. So I just
it's gonna be a great game. It is.
Speaker 2 (41:19):
Men's Final four kicks off in about an hour Florida
against Auburn and then later tonight Houston against Duke, all
number one seeds in the final four.
Speaker 3 (41:29):
You said that the second time it's ever happened.
Speaker 2 (41:30):
In crazy again, you've been hitting me with some like
stats that are just like I feel like the emoji
where the head's blowing up a little bit, like.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
Okay, yeah, it's it's not supposed to happen this way.
There's parody. But like I went on my little real store,
my my mini rant before, this is what you got
with the transfer portal and guys staying in school and
having more experience and yeah, the playing field, the good
team stay good.
Speaker 2 (41:51):
We love that good teams stay good. We loved it. Yeah,
we we played a game today called love It or
Hate It? MLB's new torpedo bout some new rule changes
from owners meeting. Get to a couple that we might

shipstation dot Com. Code Sports nailed it.
Speaker 2 (42:32):
Neither of us said on air.
Speaker 6 (42:34):
I know.
Speaker 3 (42:34):
I was like, I'm dull. I have like interrodracers on
standby ready to dump it if I accidentally say something
I shouldn't. Yeah, the first.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
Time ships in station slow and steady wins the race.
You guys, all right, let's talk some more football Baby
quarterback updates Rogers Aaron Rodgers. Off the top of the
first hour, I was like, we are on Aaron Rodgers
watched and Karma, you said, no, I'm not no, call.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
Me, call me when he call me when he signs,
and the Steelers call me when he retires. Like I'm
so disinterested in this whole thing until that happens. I'm
I'm call me Cam Hayward. Cam Hayward is like, I'm
not going on a dark darkness retreat to get him
to come here. He comes here, that's great, He'll be
in my quarterback. If not, it's no skin off my nose.
And I'm like, yeah, I mean, Steelers have backed themselves
into a corner.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
Yes they have, and so Hart Rodgers for that matter.
It's I mean, so he threw with Steelers new wide
receiver DK Metcalf at UCLA last weekend. And at this
point it seems like there is absolutely no rush for
Aaron Rodgers, and it's it's now feeling like this is
going to be his only option. It's it's Steelers or retire,
(43:46):
Like I that's.
Speaker 3 (43:47):
That's what I'm saying where I'm like, the this storyline
is just tired at this point because he's gonna take
his time. He's gonna do what he always does, which
is stay in the news. Cycle by popping up and yeah,
throwing with DK Metcalf or popping up and saying this,
or then someone at the organization's gonna say this, and
it's going to just take its sweet time, and he's
going to stay relevant until he makes the decision. But
he's going to drag it out. He did this with
the Jets. Yeah, I just I'm not at all like,
(44:11):
I'm not giving attention or energy into it anymore because
I'm like and also the end of the at the
end of the day, Yeah, what does this change for
the Steelers.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Well, I mean they need a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
They need a quarterback, yes, but this is a team
that is they're run on defense. Mike Tomlin has not
had a losing season in Pittsburgh. We all know that. Uh,
this is a team that is built to insulate against
anything against the quarterback position because they haven't got the
quarterback position right since Ben Roethlisberger.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
How many yeah, how many years.
Speaker 3 (44:40):
That's been a very long time.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
They've been a lot of quarterbacks in a handful of years.
Speaker 3 (44:44):
Okay, put Aaron Rodgers in there. Aaron Rodgers in his
current state where we don't know how good he's really
going to be and what Rogers you're getting? How good
he's really going to be? He is going to be
an extra year removed from the Achilles surgery. So that's great,
But is it enough to really you have the Steelers
give you a playoff run? Like are they going to
(45:04):
make the playoffs? Yeah? Have they made the playoffs? They
made the playoffs last year.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
But it's one of those like yeah, Like it's not
like yes, it's like yeah, but are they kind of
card round?
Speaker 3 (45:13):
But are yeah? Exactly are they going to do the ward?
Speaker 2 (45:16):
That's about it?
Speaker 3 (45:17):
Does this change anything for the Steelers that you've seen
over the last couple of years? No, No, it doesn't.
So like this whole storyline is just so tired to
me because I'm like, hey, he's making us wait for it.
I just don't care anymore. And then even if it
does happen, when it happens, what does it change? I
don't know, Mike, tom doesn't change the balance of power
(45:37):
in the the AFC North.
Speaker 2 (45:39):
Yeah, Like I just it's crazy, like Tomlin's reaction to
like not putting a timeline on Roger's decision saying I'm
really comfortable being unsettled at this time of year to peak,
quite honest with.
Speaker 3 (45:48):
You, because it's all he's been.
Speaker 2 (45:50):
It's all like he, like Mike Tomlans, thrives in chaos
and he knows how to Like he's like a professional handler,
like a lot of like some athletes, a lot of
rock stars, a lot of people have handlers. And these
are people that are literally hired to make sure these
stars are supposed to be where they are.
Speaker 3 (46:07):
The way that Mike Tomlin has been able to keep
a lid he's a professional handler, the way that Mike
coach and handler. The way that Mike Tomlin has been
able to keep a lid on so many absolutely insane,
absolutely insane personalities and like keep guys like on this
the quote unquote straight and arrow because you never know
how true that actually is. Yeah, that is deserving of
a Hall of Fame plot publish on its own. That's
(46:30):
deserving of getting him into the Hall of Fame on
its own. Forget you know, the winning percentage and all
of that kind of stuff. The fact that he was
able to keep a lid on guys like Antonio Brown,
Leveon Bell what all, Like every time these guys leave,
these these guys leave the Steelers and then it blow
everything blows up. As someone who was working for the
Tampa Buccaneers when ab and I was at that game
in at MetLife the piece, uh while he walked off
(46:52):
during the middle of the game. Yeah, like ran out
the end zone. Just like the fact that Mike Tomlin
was able to keep a lid on that for so
long insane. And you've seen what Leveon bellsone on social media, Like, Yeah,
if anybody can handle the personalities of DK Metcalf, George Pickens,
and Aaron Rodgers together, it'll be the crowning achievement of
my Tom's life.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
I actually like that's the drama I'm excited to see
and to hear from. But we're also less than three
weeks away from the draft. Steeler's first round pick is
at twenty one overall, and they could be eyeing a quarterback.
Maybe they tried to trade up.
Speaker 3 (47:30):
They would have to. Yeah, and there's this isn't the
quarterback class to do it though it's not. It's not.
Speaker 2 (47:34):
There's a thing soon like it is the most important
position on an NFL team and you don't have a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
Yeah, but is it's the most important. There's there's the
case we made that it's not the most important position
on Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
Yeah, that's true. You just need to stand in, but
stand in and hand it off.
Speaker 3 (47:49):
There are and and you know there are, there are
guys to kind of come in and steer the ship,
I suppose, or like keep the ship afloat. And you're
talking about some of these guys that aren't gonna do
much for you. They're not going to win you games. Yeah,
but a guy that people thought that was going to
be that kind of guy. But Pete Carroll just put
a nature in.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
Vegas found their guy in the future, at least for.
Speaker 3 (48:12):
A little while to your future. The two year extension
now worth a maximum of eighty five and a half
million for Gino Smith with six and a half million guaranteed.
Speaker 2 (48:21):
That's great.
Speaker 3 (48:22):
So he's now under contract with Vegas to the twenty
twenty seventh season.
Speaker 2 (48:26):
I love that Pete Carroll loves his guy, shows he
believes in him. He called him an immediate fix at
the position during the NFL annual meetings this week. However,
he didn't rule out the possibility of drafting a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (48:39):
No, and I think that you have to leave that open.
But you're not going to spend like crazy draft capital
on that. This is this gives you the flexibility to.
Speaker 2 (48:46):
Drawn picks and the sixth overall pick.
Speaker 3 (48:49):
But they also you're not going to take the six
over You're not going to take a quarterback for the
six zer old hit because you have so many other
needs on that roster, like John Spytech. Their new GM
has a lot of work to do, Yeah, with that roster,
both on both sides of the ball for that matter,
because who was Gino Smith even throwing to at this point?
I think Jacobe Myers is there one Tier one at
this point.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
Yeah. Now they have good pieces like Max Crosby, the
leader on defense, and we just saw on Philly how
defense can win championships when you have that kind of
a leader.
Speaker 3 (49:16):
But you had guys leave like big Play Roberts Plane. Yeah,
like there are there are a lot of holes on
that roster that need.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
To be fixed the line to protect them your favorite.
Speaker 6 (49:26):
No.
Speaker 3 (49:26):
So they let up fifty sacks last year, which is
not much many many less than what Gino Smith was
was was forced into in Seattle last year. Because Gino,
I believe, was sacked fifty four times to Seattle tied
for the third most sacks allowed fifty four in the
league and finished with PFF's thirty first ranked offensive line.
So Gino is going from a really bad situation into
(49:47):
a slightly better, not much better situation.
Speaker 2 (49:51):
You wrote an article about this, how this is a
strong D line draft class this year. But what like
Vegas has, Like we said, they have nine draft picks,
what do you see them needing to do in a
couple of weeks.
Speaker 3 (50:05):
I mean, when you're talking about overhauling, when you're talking
about overhauling a roster, and I get that there are
skill position needs to when you're talking about but like,
while you don't have a wide receiver one from a
wide out category, you have Brock Bowers, who is your
leading receiver. He's a tight end. We saw with the
Trey McBride deal, how well that can work out for
the player and how well that works out for a team. Honestly,
(50:26):
because Kyler Murray was super pumped that Trey McBride as
signed the richest extension for a tight end, it now
puts them above the pay grade of George Kittle and
Travis Kelce. So like the tight end position is getting
I feel like the valuation of the tight end position
is getting better given how much of a factor these
guys are in the receiving game. And that brock Bauers
(50:46):
is no exception that he They hit it out of
the park with the brock Bauers pick last year in
the first round. And so you have that that kind
of I guess lessons maybe some of your immediate needs
in the wide receiver room, but you still know you do,
you still need more. But when you're talking about overhauling
a roster, and this is what I get to I
(51:08):
go back to every single time, is you need to
make sure that both sides of the off of the
lines the line of scrimmage are set. Okay, So the
offensive line I talked a lot in that article about
and actually I just did a mock draft for Fox
sports dot Com of all trenches. So every team has
to take an offensive or a defensive lineman yes, or
an edge rusher like, just all along the line, guys
that line up on the line of scrimmage. Yeah, And
(51:29):
what I found too was that you start to get
real thin at the offensive line position if you do
not take them at the top. Really, so it's a
it's just it's not a great offensive line class. It's
not a deep offensive.
Speaker 2 (51:43):
Line second round.
Speaker 3 (51:45):
Yeah, Like, if you if you need offensive line help,
you better get your guy, and you're probably gonna overpay
for him because these guys are raw in this class.
The prospects I've watched, the guys that I've talked to
as far as evaluators, scouts, coaches, former coaches, this offensive
line class is very raw. There's no like Joe Alt
that's like ready to go. Plug him in. He's gonna
(52:06):
be a Pro Bowl left tackle for you. This is like,
these guys are going to need really good coaching and
they're gonna need some time to develop. And even then,
it's not a deep class when it comes to the
offensive line, So you're taking a risk either way, but
you're gonna probably have to do it with some really
serious capital. The defensive line class, however, on the on
the opposite side of this, they are it is so deep.
(52:29):
I've talked to so many defensive coaches that are so
excited about especially the detackles, but some of these edge rushers,
it just goes really deep and they're like, I've had
guys tell me that you're gonna be able to get
starters in the third and fourth rounds. Really, yes, so
this is something that you can maybe wait on it.
I think that Vegas still needs to add, especially to
(52:50):
that interior. I don't necessarily to help Max Crosby all
that kind of stuff, but if you're a team that
needs offensive line, you need to get to that in the.
Speaker 2 (52:59):
First couple of Yeah, that's a lot. And you guys
wear less than three weeks away from the NFL Draft.
Top two quarterback updates. We were just talking to Buck Rising,
who obviously covers the Titans say the first overall pick,
and he is convinced they're taking camera war.
Speaker 3 (53:19):
I think this is a bear situation from last year
when everybody was like, oh, are they going to trade
back again? Because whatever? And it's like and that was
a little bit different of a scenario because Chicago had
traded the first overall pick the year before. Yeah, so
then you end up with it, which is not your
own pick, by the way, but you still end up
with the first overall pick. You still need a quarterback
at this point, and so they made that call. But
(53:40):
like there were so many like rumors of like, oh,
maybe they're just driving the price up and then they're
going to trade back and like they're going to get
a haul, and are you team Hall or you team Caleb.
I very much see the same thing in Nashville in
Tennessee in general, where they're like, oh, I don't know,
are they just are they just trying to drive the
price up so they can trade down. And again, Tennessee
is another team that has a lot of needs and
(54:01):
trading down wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
But as Buck said, and I think as so many
fan bases would say, like if you have the first
overall pick, especially your guy, and you have no other choice,
like cam Ward, like is the top prospect quarterback prospect
in this class, and then there is a tier two
which is sur Sanders, and then you go down to
(54:22):
tier three. Yeah, so like there is a huge amount
of separation and there's just not quarterback talent available in
this class and there should be next year. So that's
the thing too, where you're like, all right, that's kind
of I think the argument for Tennessee trading back, where
if they're not completely in love with can Worm, which
Buck said that he thinks they are.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
Yeah, everything they canceled their private meeting with where they
sent people to his pro day yesterday, which not but
not his like the main people they were. They were
just like saving face. Also like didn't realize that they
were broadcasting that and there was like play by play
of Shores.
Speaker 3 (54:59):
Yeah I turn yeah they broadcast cam Warts too. Yeah No,
But I think that the argument in Tennessee is, hey,
next year is a better quarterback class. We have a
ton of needs right now. We're not ready for a quarterback. Really,
if you look at this roster, do we wait on
it for next year? And it's really hard to get
(55:20):
the fan base though, to buy into that kind of patience,
especially when I loved what Buck rising. Nate Tye is
a guy, a friend of ours that works at Yahoo Sports.
He is the son of famed offensive line and offensive
coach Mike Tye. Uh So, he's comes from a football family,
played quarterback, all this other stuff. He does some of
(55:41):
some of the best tape study that you'll see, and
he has a podcast, A Football three oh one on Yahoo.
Buck said that Nate said that cam Ward is diet
Coke Steve McNair, which is it's awesome. It's awesome because
I actually like die Out better than the original. But
I think it's really hard, like I said, to have
(56:04):
a fan base buy into the patience, even though that's
probably the better way to do it in so many ways.
Speaker 2 (56:13):
Like yeah, but I just don't think they can't. You
can't when there is a hot name.
Speaker 3 (56:17):
And I do think the quarter franchise, Yeah I do.
Speaker 2 (56:20):
And there is such a huge separation between him and
Shaudor Sanders who the more we're hearing from coaches, scouts,
he just his draft stock just kind of keeps dropping
a bit.
Speaker 3 (56:33):
It's going to be really I don't know that it
really does, because you look at the entire now where
the Tennessee Titans may not have sent their big guys,
the Giants sent everybody yes to Sanders pro day, Okay,
everybody was there, So you know that they have a
vested interest in this guy. And and that would mean
that he goes in the top five picks. Yeah, So
(56:55):
I don't know like that that. Yeah, the quarterbacks rise
and if you fall a all it takes is, you know,
one GM to fall in love with you, when one
head coach fall in love with you. We saw what
happened last year with Atlanta taking uh taking Why am
I blanking Michael Beennix junior. Yeah with yeah, with a
(57:15):
top ten pick while they had already paid Kirk cuth.
Like that's that stuff happened. And guys rise really far
in the draft and got and you look at even
bon Nix taken by the Denver Broncos that number twelve. Yeah,
everybody thought he was a second round pick.
Speaker 2 (57:30):
There's also the Browns, like he's apparently having a private
workout schedule with the Browns.
Speaker 3 (57:34):
With the Browns, I mean the Brown's eight quarterback too,
like they have they like halfway went as far as
to say Jimmy has them went halfway in and said
that Deshaun Watson may have been a mistake.
Speaker 2 (57:46):
And I was like, um, mis.
Speaker 3 (57:48):
And and so it was all the guaranteed money, and
so it's like maybe maybe we can like we can
go along and say, hey, you didn't need to give
him the guarantees. He didn't need to not a.
Speaker 2 (57:58):
Good person, Like what more than that he's not a
good quarterback. Yeah, but also like if you're a leader
of a franchise, a multimillion dollar franchise, you also have
to be like a good person.
Speaker 3 (58:09):
There's a lot of these guys that aren't. But it's
not so overt that you have twenty four counts of
sexual assault love against you. Gross.
Speaker 2 (58:18):
Okay, we're going to your quick break here when we
come back. I actually I think I'm gonna mix it up.
There's a couple other rule changes we didn't get to that.
I want to hear your opinion because I kind of
got a taste of it when we were talking to Buck,
so we got that when we come back. You're listening
to Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back to Fox Sports Saturday.

Speaker 2 (59:00):
All right, at the top of our show, In the
first hour, we played a game called love It or
Hate It. We talked about torpedo bats, the tush push,
and some other rules. New rule changes that happen at
the NFL owner meetings. We didn't get to a couple
of them. So I heard Karmi kind of go off
on this in the Buck Rising interview, so I wanted
(59:21):
to bring it back. So we're going to do the
touch back change here. Love it or Hate it now,
just to kind of explain if you're not familiar with
what it is. It feels like they're trying to get
more play action out of the kickoff, right, so only
having to go sixty five yards for a touchdown are
(59:42):
better odds than before. So they're moving.
Speaker 3 (59:45):
No, what they're trying to do is they're trying to
increase the number of returns. They want returns because returns
are electrifying, and there are reasons that you watch special teams.
There are a reason that you tune into that third
phase of the game that everybody forgets about. And so
they're moving it. So it used to be that you know,
kickers on a kickoff, Yeah, could you kick the ball
out of the back of the end zone and that
just that's a touchback. So that means that, hey, the
(01:00:07):
next team is going to start at the twenty five
yard line. Yeah, they moved it. Used to be the
twenty they moved with the twenty five. Now they've moved
it to the thirty five. Yep, which shortens the field
a tremendous amount, but like.
Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
Five yards for a touchdown, right.
Speaker 3 (01:00:18):
So you have to go now sixty five yards. So
now that's in theory d incentivizes the team to then
kick it out of the back of the end zone.
Kick it in the end zone, you know, like you
want to be able to have these guys return it. Yes,
so it's promoting returns because you don't want to necessarily
give up that field position. But what Buck had talked about,
(01:00:41):
and that this is kind of the other side of
the coin, is all right, well, now let's see, if
you're at the thirty five yard line, you probably need
twenty five thirty thirty five yards thirty if you have
a good kicker to get into a field goal range.
And I feel like that side of it, I feel
like that is what is going to be The more
realistic result of this is that teams are just going
(01:01:04):
to end up kicking more field goals, so it's not
necessarily going to even increase scoring, and you're not necessarily
gonna see more touchdowns. You might just see more field goals.
Now that can sway games we have. I don't have
the stats in front of me, but you know, every
every year, I feel like the number of one score
games and the percentage of one score games gets higher.
(01:01:24):
Like the parody in the NFL is why it's so great. Yes,
but I do think that there's going to have to
be a lot of strategic changes to how teams operate
come kickoffs. And in fact, when they were all talking
about this rule change and everything like that, Darren Racy,
Darren Rizzy, he's not the special teams coordinator in Denver,
(01:01:45):
longtime special teams guy, he estimated that the return rates
we're gonna see return rates in the seventy to seventy
five percent range, which is a huge It's so much
more than what we're seeing right now.
Speaker 2 (01:01:56):
It was also the feeling was like, okay, kickoff, go
grab a beer and go to the bathroom. That was
the time he could kind of walk away.
Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
F Obviously, the NFL introduced the landing zones last year
and things changed with kickoffs and all that kind of
stuff already, but now this is just another incentive put
in place to make sure that teams are kicking to
the kick returners. And now you have to figure out
all right, like the Bears did this last year where
they pulled out a play on special teams that they
(01:02:24):
had most infamously run with Devin Hester, who just went
into the Hall of Fame last year, best kick returner
of all time. I have in one of his jerseys.
I have his alternate orange jersey. He was such an
electrifying player because of his returns. Yeah, and you know,
I think he had nineteen or twenty returns for a touchdown,
just an insane number. But so the Bears ran this
(01:02:45):
play where it was essentially a fake where you have
two returners in the backfield and you have one act
like he has the ball and then run as if
he had the ball. Yeah, And it worked for the
Bears again and the other team bit and so now
you're I feel like you're gonna start seeing kind of
some more creativity when it comes to special teams. If
(01:03:06):
you're talking about a return right of seventy to seventy
five percent, like Darren Rizzy said that it could be.
I'm very interested to see how this kind of changes
the strategy behind the third phase of the game, which
again is so it's it's so forgotten about. And when
you talk about changing the strategy too, there's a domino
effect to that because then you think about special teams
guys as being the bottom, like twenty guys on the roster.
(01:03:28):
Now are you going to see are you going to
see guys kind of or teams drafting because of a
special player, Special teams ability like stuff like that is
going to start happening more and more. The domino effect
of this, I think it's just really interesting, and that's
why I think that this was a really big deal.
That love it or hate it, I don't know if
I love it or hate it. I think I love it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:49):
I love more action, I love I love more.
Speaker 3 (01:03:53):
I think I love it in theory. Okay, we'll see
what it looks like in practice. Like I said, I
don't just want people suddenly for a field goals and
like whatever, Like I want there to be actual shifts
and how we treat the kickoff.
Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
Yeah, so tentatively I love it, Okay, but real quick
just love it or hate it. Hawkeye cameras to measure
love it.
Speaker 3 (01:04:12):
It's not even getting the chain gang like the changing
will still be there for valid for confirmation.
Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
It's a no brainer. It's noame along.
Speaker 3 (01:04:18):
We've had the technology might do it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
Okay, thank you. I feel the same way. Now let's
check it with Martin Wise and see what's trending.
Speaker 8 (01:04:27):
That's twenty career return touchdouts for Devin Hosts.
Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
I was a nineteen or twenty.
Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
I was out there kid fourteen punt Yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
Mean like that doesn't change this could change the kick
off rules. It doesn't change the pun return rules.
Speaker 9 (01:04:39):
But yeah, and I just take returners and punker returners
are kind of like kickers to me in that like
make or break Well, it's just they seem to be some.
Speaker 8 (01:04:51):
Of the most undervalued people that can change a game
on a roster.
Speaker 3 (01:04:56):
Unless it's a Super Bowl to return the opening kick
against the Indianapolis Colts, and I thought the Bears were
gonna win that Super Bowl. Imagine if he hadn't, there
would have been nothing about that game that was memorable
at all.
Speaker 8 (01:05:10):
Start to finish, nothing to go all right, So memorable
careers being commemorated today in the Basketball Hall of Fame
Classes twenty twenty five. Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Billy Donovan,
super Bird, Mayam Moore, referee Danny Crawford, Sylvia Fouls, Mickey Ayris,
and the Miami Heat owner and the two thousand and
eight men's Olympic basketball team all going to be honored there.
(01:05:33):
We had one NBA game so far today, one twenty
eight to one oh five to score. The Knicks beat
the Hawks. Col Anthony Towns had thirty o jan Andobi
had twenty four baseball games in action right now, Nationals
looking for their second win of the year. Fod to
nothing over the Diamondbacks top of the sixth bottom of
the fifth of Dodgers, with the two to one lead
over the Phillies on FS one top of the fifth
(01:05:54):
inning and a back and forth game. The Yankees now
have a five to four lead over the Pirates top
of the Orioles, three Royals nothing, rain delay for the
Cardinals and the Red Sox. Earlier today we saw the
Tigers beat the White Sox, the Twins beat the Astros,
and the Cubs beat the Padres. And let's see, you
know what final four in just a moment. Now the
thirty minutes are so away from Florida and Auburn tipping off,
(01:06:19):
and then about three and a half hours from then
will be Houston and Duke. All four one seeds from
each region made the Final four. That's the first time
all four one.
Speaker 3 (01:06:28):
Cheees that made the Final four since two thousand and eight.
There you go, you got it right.
Speaker 1 (01:06:32):
You be saying it all day.
Speaker 3 (01:06:33):
Back to you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:06:34):
Thank you Martin. You're listening to Fox Sports Saturday. I
am Alex Courry here with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting
live from the Tar dot com studios in Los Angeles.
It is time for our next guest, the owner of
the Sporting Tribune. He's been covering the sports world for
over two decades. Of friends of the show, Aurash Marcazi,
Thanks for.
Speaker 5 (01:06:50):
Joining us, Thanks for having me.
Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
Are we still I know you're in Tampa for the
women's Final four last night? Are we still there?
Speaker 5 (01:06:59):
Figured?
Speaker 2 (01:06:59):
You know?
Speaker 5 (01:07:00):
Why the heck can? I let's make a fun weekend editors.
I'll be at South Carolina yukon a heck of a
matchup tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
What has the crowd been like? I mean dominating wins yesterday.
Speaker 5 (01:07:12):
Oh it's been amazing. You know, they got sold out
crowd yesterday again a tont of Yukon fans, Yeah, clearly,
but then also as of top Carolina fans. So you know,
obviously bump for U c L a incredible season. But
you're the great thing in talking to the players last night,
I mean they're all coming back, you know, Moor and Best,
(01:07:33):
Peaky Rice, you know they are. They are going to
be a jugger that next season.
Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
I didn't think about that. Okay, let's start in the
NBA and the West because it is going to be
a tight stretch like these last this last week of
the regular season, and after a win last night, Lakers
moving back up to that third spot in the West.
Now with five games to go, how important is it
for LA to try and hold that spot and not
(01:08:02):
drop it into the play in tournament and they have
a tough final six games here coming up.
Speaker 5 (01:08:07):
Yeah, I mean, all these teams are really tied up,
and as you just mentioned, you know, you win on
one night, you're the third seed. You lose and you're
the fourth seed, but you're almost you know, like in
that playing tournament. I mean, I think two things for
the Lakers are really key. You know, to get that
top four seeds, you got homecoord like in the first round.
You don't want to have to go on the road.
The other thing that you have to start thinking about
(01:08:28):
are the matchups. As much as you want this series
as a basketball fan, as a Lakers fan, you don't
want a Lakers Warriors.
Speaker 2 (01:08:36):
I know it's it's lucky that way.
Speaker 5 (01:08:40):
It's gonna be brutal, it'll be great, it'll be great
for us as fans, and it'll probably be a seven
game series, but definitely, to be honest, like, that's why
you want that higher seeding, right, Yeah, if it does
those seven, that game seven would be at Crypto dot
Com Arena.
Speaker 3 (01:08:57):
Are are the Thunder still? I mean, you know they've
away with the regular season record sixty four and thirteen. Yeah,
is is this the toughest challenge in the West? And
how does that stack up then to the East, Because
I feel like we've we've gotten used to the West
being like the powerhouse Conference and there's so many of
these teams they end up beating up on each other.
But how how, how how much do you think that
(01:09:19):
the Thunder are really going to get through all of that.
Speaker 5 (01:09:22):
Then yeah, I mean here's the thing. I mean, the
Thunder has have been one of the more dominant teams
in recent history. I mean since the Warriors in terms
of you know, I mean themes might you know when
the sixty eight to sixty nine games, and I mean
that really puts them in the conversation for you know,
one of the top ten teams of all time. Now
(01:09:44):
what we have never seen this team do? They're young,
but you know, can you do this in the postseason?
Like a year ago people were talking about the Thunder
they couldn't even get to the conference finals. And I
know people will laugh about the NBA Cup at the
end of the day that there's a ton of money,
there's the trophy involved. They didn't look to it against
the Bucks. Now, I just have a feeling about this
(01:10:06):
team this season. So whatever, like even at the height
of the Lucill run with the Lakers, like can this
team win a title? And I'm like, I think they
can get to the conference finals. I don't know if
any team out of the West from what I've seen
this season is beating the Thunder, but we'll see again,
we have not seen this team play like this in
the postseason. So can they beat the Warriors? Can they
(01:10:28):
beat the Lakers? Can they beat teams and players that
have been there before?
Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
And yeah in a seven game series? I mean, Lakers
still are going to face them twice to season, so
that's gonna be an interesting one to watch. But let's
move to baseball. Dodgers got off to a historic start
of the season and lost their first game yesterday. But
just kind of watching the start, they were favorites heading
(01:10:54):
into the season, but they're looking like far and away
the team to who, like, who is going to be
their biggest challenge this year?
Speaker 5 (01:11:04):
Well, you know it's the Padres And I'm really glad
because I thought that, you know, they have a drop off,
But the way both of the teams have started the season,
and I know, you know, the Padres lost their first
game the season, going to Chicago. Yeah, but what an
amazing start for both of these teams. Like Gayton knows
seven and zero a great postseason series a year ago. Really,
(01:11:27):
both of those teams have played well. But the way
that the Dodgers have won these games, right, I mean, yes,
they they're the most talented teams, the deepest team, but
to win a couple of these games and walked off
fashion won by Mookie one by show Hey. I mean,
this team still has that that feeling that like it's
going to be tough to beat them. So it's been amazing. Again,
(01:11:49):
I was in Tokyo for those first two games of
the season. I've been at all the Hope games. This
is a special special team.
Speaker 3 (01:11:56):
Yeah, and with a special special player you talk about
show heir Tani, you know, unanimously winning n L MVP
last year as a designated hitter. You know, so many
first so many insane things. What incentive really is there
for you to kind of switch him back into the
(01:12:16):
pitching lineup later on in the season. Granted, but is
that should that still be the goal for the Dodgers
when you know what you can get out of him
if he's just focused on hitting.
Speaker 5 (01:12:26):
It's a great question because they are such a deep
pitching staff where you don't really need Showgate which show
Hey though, he does love to pitch, and he does
want to pitch, but if you're the Dodgers, you do
have to figure out a way to do it where
he doesn't take something away from what he does for them,
like as a hitter, because what he does I mean again,
first ever fifty fifty season. Yeah, like almost had a
(01:12:48):
sixty sixty seasons. So he wants to pitch. The Dodgers
wants to have him pitch. I wouldn't expect that to
happen in April or may. I do expect it happened
at some point this summer. But you gotta be careful
about it. You got to be cautious because again, the
way that this team has been built, the deepest pitching staff,
(01:13:09):
the deepest bullpens, they really don't need showing the fact
that they have them available, is that you will pitch
at some point this season is incredible, right, I mean
the way that this seems playing Kershaw hasn't pitched yet
and showy ton crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
Okay. Torpedo bats have been the talk of baseball this week.
What are your thoughts on them? Is a good idea
bad idea for baseball? Love it or hate it?
Speaker 5 (01:13:33):
You know, I don't hate it. I mean it's the
beautiful thing about baseball. It's these these little quirky things,
you know, whether it's like like the ballpark, you know,
or like the bats to use. And yeah, the usual
take I was talking to the hack Munths. You bat it,
and so he's like, oh, torpedo bats, Like, well, let's
see what's up with this. He goes, oh for three
with the torpedo bats. The use is old bat and
he hits uh, you know, like a two run double
(01:13:56):
that tied up the game against the Brave. So listen
to like each their own. Apparently the Yankees were using
the torpedo bats a year ago or at least of
the postseason, you know, help them get to the World Series.
Couldn't do anything against the Dodge. I think I think
everyone's talking about it because of the pot and the
success that they've had about it. Yeah, with them, but listen,
(01:14:20):
I think if it helps you greater for that, I
think I think most players are going to at least
try it to see if they'll help them. But according
to Max Monthly, it did not help him.
Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
Well yeah, also, like, I think it's going to take
some adjusting, but I love it. If we're going to
see more dingers out of it, like let's go ahrash,
Thank you so much for joining the show. Really appreciate
it every time. You soon all right, we're gonna take
one more break here when we come back our feel
good Stories of the week. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

podcast will be up right after we're off air. Actually,
so whereever you get your podcast or search Fox Sports
Radio and will pop up.
Speaker 2 (01:15:10):
And We've had a great show. We hit March Madness.
We played a game called Love It or Hate It
with the Helm. Yeah, we had event, We had a
little special guest, three guests, had guests on the Showy.
It was a great day. We did quarterback watch, so
much stuff. So if you missed it, we'll post it
right after the show's done, go and listen. But now
(01:15:31):
it's time for our feel good Stories of the week.
And I'm going to start with the game that's happening
right now. The US women's national team playing Brazil at
SOFI USA is up one nothing. We are in the
fortieth minute, and this marks the first ever women's professional
sporting event at sofi. It's also the first meeting between
(01:15:52):
USA and Brazil since that epic clash and the twenty
twenty four Olympic gold medal game in Paris, which we
saw USA win. But yeah, they're playing on the natural
grass test system that they've installed to get ready for
the twenty twenty six FIFA World Cups. So this is
also like a little a little test by so far,
(01:16:12):
but this is yeah, this is incredible. I had a
chance to catch up with their head coach, Emma Hayes
earlier this week. She was at the Angel City game
at BIMO, and she is just the absolute coolest, the
best outlook. She's like, yeah, no, we have a lot
to work do We've already won a gold medal, but
we have so much work to do with this young courts,
that next generation after the Megan Rapino Ala, after the
(01:16:36):
Alex Morgan and all those stars that went back to
back World Cups in twenty fifteen and twenty nineteen. So
this is exciting. This is a step in the right direction.
The girls were also out at the Laker game this
week on the court, meeting the stars, like I love
to see it. I love to see it more women's
events at so far.
Speaker 3 (01:16:56):
Yeah, that's great, I love it. Michael gets Story of
the Week. Yes, is current Saints defensive tackle former Chiefs
defensive tackle Colin Sanders is holding is hosting a LGBTQ
friendly football camp. It welcomes all you know. He's hosting
it with r. K Russell, former Cowboy. He played for
(01:17:19):
the Bucks as well. But it's a football camp for all.
And so for those that don't know, Colin Sanders's brother
is one of Taylor's Soft's dancers and choreographers and so
over the summer, when Travis Kelcey came out on her
European tour with her and danced on stage, he was
with Colin Sanders brother and at the time was also
(01:17:41):
teammates with Colin Sauder's brother. So it was the whole
full circle moment. Colin Sonder's now part of the New
Orleans Saints, but he has been an incredible ally for
so many people and given his brother's experience, and he said,
these are people that feel like they have to be hidden.
Although they might love the sport, they might love the NFL.
I love football in general's sport, but they kind of
(01:18:01):
shy away from it because of orientations or all these
other kind of outside things. That's my goal to continue
to spread positive energy around that because football is for everybody.
Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
I love more than that. Yese.
Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
He announced this on Good Morning Football and then immediately
took to social media, took to Twitter x, and he said, Hey,
this is what we're doing, really excited about it. And
then he's like, oh, let's not forget these hands rated
e for everyone. Don't let this ally, you know what
fool you. You'll never win fighting hate with someone fighting
with love. So basically it was like, come at me,
(01:18:34):
and he's like he's proceeded to just kind of put
all the haters in their place on social media. Walks,
the walk, talks, the talk Collin Saunders.
Speaker 1 (01:18:42):
I love what he said.
Speaker 2 (01:18:42):
Ally just yes, just very inclusive. Heck yeah, okay. Another
feel good story. Juju Walkins, even though she had a
heartbreaking and her season tearing her acl and her return
of the court is still unknown, she's been getting her flowers.
She was named the Women's AP Player of the Year,
the first Trojan to be named AP Player of the Year,
(01:19:05):
just the fourth sophomore to win the award, and then
she also just won the Don Staley award. We've been
talking Don Staley, Oh darn Day, given to the nation's
best point guard, and Don said, I couldn't be more
honored to have her name etched alongside this award.
Speaker 3 (01:19:21):
That's so sweet. Don's just says the right things at
all times always. But also I've like I said this
before too, I think like Juju Watkins is also very
universally beloved. Yes, everybody loves Juju.
Speaker 5 (01:19:32):
And it was.
Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Downtown La that's usually saved for Laker legends, like as
a sophomore, she is painted on the like iconic. I
think it's a hotel in downtown La. Insane she is.
Speaker 3 (01:19:47):
I mean, she is one of those when you look
back at kind of this reckoning for women's sports where
it's it's kind of made its way into the mainstream
and there are some major fans like she is one
of the names that will be associated with bringing women's
sports to the forefront.
Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
We love that.
Speaker 2 (01:20:01):
We love to see it so much. Thank you guys
so much for spending your Saturday afternoon with Carme and me.
I'm gonna be on the Herd all week, so come
hang out, come listen to me and j Mac on
Fox Sports Radio. FS one Martin Wis is actually my producer,
so it's a family show. We love to see it.
Have a great weekend, be safe and uh happy March
(01:20:23):
manus all right bye,
