Eike, Taryn, Barney, and Ren together delve deeper into the tunnels. Ren locates the source of the voice – a pregnant woman chained to a wall – and tries to help her only to flee when attacked by a wave of insects. Eike discovers Nikki’s father Reggie, emaciated and vacant eyed. Barney attempts to lead Reggie to the surface but a violent metamorphosis turns him into a thorny bush that stabs Reggie and blocks the tunnel exit.

Eike and Ren finally descend from the top of the plateau but Ren slips, landing in the intestines of the disemboweled creature. She then hears a familiar, alluring voice urging her to enter the cavern. At the same time, inside, Barney and Taryn follow the creature holding a dead bird deeper down the tunnel. They pass rooms full of corpses, the bodies intentionally formed into furnishings and carpets.

From the top of the plateau, Eike and Ren observe one of the gangly humanoids ritualistically disemboweling another, who participates willingly. Inside the cavern, Barney loots the tunnels as Taryn continues to follow the alluring voice. Taryn stops to examine one of the many corpses and as a centepede-like creature crawls from the corpse up his arm, Barney grabs it and crunches it between his teeth.

Ren and Eike, still on top of the plateau, fail to find an alternate way inside. They spot a large crowd of emaciated figures climbing the back of the plateau and knock most of them out with another boulder. Below, Taryn and Barnabus make their way further into the cavern, feet crunching on old, brittle bones. Once again, Taryn hears an alluring voice encourage him to follow the orange line deeper into the cavern.

After watching a group of creatures carry the stranger into a crack in the plateau, Taryn and Barnabus follow them inside. Ren and Eike climb the plateau to search for other entrances. When more of the creatures pursue them up the side of the plateau, they retaliate by pushing a large boulder down, shredding through the figures. Meanwhile, underneath, surrounded by smells of decay and rot and the smoky haze of firelight, Barnabus a...

Taryn, now able to perceive the orange line due to the effects of quash, leads the party further east. Exploring ahead, Barnabus discovers an old, abandoned, tent encampment and then spots movement at the foot of some far off plateaus. Everyone but Ren recognized the figures as the same sort of creatures that had attacked their camp before she joined the party. Barnabas approaches and is quickly surrounded by creatures. Taryn smokes the stranger’s quash and sees an orange hue on the path ahead. At the same time, Eike spots a figure far in the distance. The figure approaches and Eike recognizes Ren, an associate from her past in Arden, who admits to following them from the city. In the meantime, an alluring voice speaks to Taryn, promising to “purify the waters together”.
