Speaker 1 (00:07):
You're listening to the Marcus Lush Knights podcast from News Talks.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
I'd be boy, oh boy, greetings, welcome, How I are seven?
Passed eight?
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Yre?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Tell you what that tong and rugby league team's looking good?
Jeep as wow. Anyway, looking forward to that house. It
will going people. Someone's email they want to get rid
of a piano. They've got a baby grand piano to
give away. I'm not quite sure if it's a scam
or not. Actually it says, hello, how are you doing today?
(00:35):
I'm looking to give away my late husband's Yamaha Grand
piano to a passion instrument lover organization music by an individual, church,
your local school and need. Please kind of let me
know if you will take it or have someone who
will care for it. I don't mind the name of
the piano individual. My most concern is taken proper care
of it in a play memory of my late husband.
Please let me know where you live, where you are located. Yeah,
(00:59):
Gos send that to you. Dan, tell me if that's
a scam or not, because otherwise who could give that away?
I suppose we'll find someone what some of some of
the lettering seems a bit generic. The wording seems a
bit generic. Dan, I'll look at help pick up some
funny letters that they are. That's a funny you are
earl earl funny earl head on mid puddon. But don't
(01:20):
mention me my name. That's weird, isn't it is that
high Marcus? Enjoy your show? But how they how would
you where's the scam and give away a grand piano?
May I say yes? I'd love to seeing one thousand
dollars for delivery, which I'll never see again. I could
see myself with a baby grand with Kendles on the
top of it in the candlearbra playing out in John
(01:44):
Songs of an evening, a very late evening after work. Wow,
like Victor Borger. Anyway, pooh oh, here we go his
exciting email Marcus. We have been based in the UK
for the last eight months, a small town called Luis
(02:06):
l e w s. I apologize plants that wrongly famous
for its huge bonfire night celebrations every year. Well I'm
a bigger than part of that. Listen to the potty
most afternoons and thought we'd better let you know about
the sighting of wallabies beyond the natural range in Somerset.
Who doesn't love something that calls a podcast a potty?
That's my favorite thing. I'm loving you people already as
(02:27):
text doores. Where's it buffering? Come on? And I'm just
clicking on the story now. But there are rogue wallabies
in England beyond the natural range. It's pretty interesting, that,
isn't it. Is it a scam shown with the piano.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Yeah, absolutely, as a scam mate. We got that same
email through to our school, went all the way through
the process of going and didn't send any money, but
they asked for eight hundred dollars and they will get
it to the school, and we thought that sounds a
little sass enough. It was a scam and it's come
out of Fong today as well. It's come out of
(03:08):
for Katani. So yeah, it's a full scam, buddy, don't,
don't don't.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
It's quite a good scam. If they've used my name
and thought that's what a lovely thing. There's some person
in the husband we could have, that's quite a good scam.
If they just kind of put some more thought into it.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Well, it's been it's been going around for over a year,
that one. And yeah, so I'm a music teacher, and
I've had numbers of different music features around the country.
Because you pretty much don't give that number to someone's mate.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
You pretty much are on the bread basket. You pretty
much are scam Central. Because he was like, oh I
get in touch with Shore. I'll tell you what I
found this person that short of loved it as school.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
That's it, mate, is exactly what they've been doing. Yep.
So don't don't don't don't send that number out to anyone.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
Mate.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
They're going to be losing eight hundred bucks on a delivery.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Brilliant. Okay. I like the fact they said it to
me too, because he's the radio people. All that we have.
We'll have to send it to Old We'll send it
a tie of the Destroyer and Matt see what they see,
what they want to do with it, because I could go,
I mean, that's funny, isn't it? Give away a piano?
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Oh thanks for that, Sean, I wondered. A wallabye was
spotted wandering around a garden in southwest England last week,
the surprise of locals thousands of miles away from the
state of Testimonia. They mask pu people seen hopping around
the garden black Gun Hills near the border with Somerset.
So there we go. There are wallabies beyond the natural
(04:39):
range in England, and they're quite widespread. I think they've
all been there in zoos of course. The English they
love to go around the wall and take all animals
back and keep them in cages. Wow. Anyway, that's the situation.
So I just put that out there about wallabies. Fancy
(05:01):
me picking that as a scam too? Feel I should
test the make something strong word today, but I can't
really be bothered. I quite like a personal email too.
I thought there was a goodie. So if there's someone
offering your baby grand they get money for the delivery,
(05:22):
it's all right, mate, we'll pick it up ourselves. As
what you sort of say, they go around to the
hat where do you live? I like the one they
say a baby grand too. It's not too grandiose. It's
not like a grand piano. Now here's a comment from me.
So I read the article today right about the footage
of this family and the bush and the three children,
(05:51):
and I read that and I thought, here's what I thought.
I thought, Wow, because the police need a win, don't they.
Because things haven't gone too well for of late, so
they'd want something to happen for them that was successful,
because it makes them look silly they can't find a
family in the bush. If I was involved with running
that case, if I was in the Whaketle, I would
(06:12):
have a phone treres system in place, so when there
was a sighting, you have a local chopper, you'd have dogs,
have a bit of everything. You'd be in there within
hours to pick up the trail. I cannot believe what
happened that they were that the police were that. I mean,
I don't know what's gone on with this case. I
(06:33):
don't know the full details or why the police have
not found them, but I would have thought they would
try and get there as quickly as possible, pretty much
just to reassure the community they can find people in
the bush. I don't know what your opinion is of that,
but I just thought that they would have things in
place because it was always going to be inevitable, there
was going to be a sighting, and I just thought
(06:54):
you'd have a situation where you could actually mobilize people
quite quickly and fly in there and go and find
the family. It can't be much fun for the kids,
and even if it is fun, it's not what they
should be doing. They should be at school. So yeah,
if you got to comment on that too, I'd like
to hear from you. Eight hundred and eighty Taddy in
(07:16):
nine nine to text. But look, it took hours for
the police to get there, and I just can't I mean,
why even bother going there are ten twelve hours later?
Makes no sense to me. Anyway, if you got a
comment on that, I will talk about that tonight. Just
can't work it out. So anyway, So the first time
they have been cited for three years and the police
(07:39):
keep saying they're focused on the safe return of them,
But you think they just would have acted. It's like
it's it doesn't bring me enjoy to to get down
on the police. But I thought they would have had
a system in place where they could have acted slightly quicker.
Forget with the articles. We took them a long time
to get there to actually look for them. So yeah, oh,
eight hundred and eighty Taddy, if you want to mention that.
(08:02):
And there's pretty of other stuff talk about tonight, but
I just put that out there as well because it
seems it seems crazy to me. It took them a
long time to get there, and you're not going to
find a trail that late that long afterwards. So yeah,
police have said they started patrols on the evening of
the October three, but the full search had not gets
(08:24):
until Friday. They searched for three days with the episode
sport but found nothing. Wouldn't you get the army or
the air force or something involved with it anyway? I mean,
I know that everyone's an expert on this stuff, but
you might just want to quick go around with this one.
I see now there's people that are from sort of
TV shows are trying to get involved. Yeah, but terrible,
(08:50):
terribly concerned for the kids welfare. And the male was
carrying a firearm also, which is pretty sketchy anyway. Oh wait,
and eight Rose as Marcus good evening.
Speaker 6 (09:04):
Oh hi Marcus, how are you good?
Speaker 7 (09:06):
Thing?
Speaker 6 (09:07):
I'm horrified at this whole thing about the children and
that man, I really really am. I just cannot see
the point and the police not going in.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Right there and leading yeah, surprising to.
Speaker 6 (09:21):
Me, and having not having a helicopter of some form
on guard. Where did you go?
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Well, you think there would be a meeting if you'd
be a meeting of when the sighting comes in, because
they already put the award of eighty thousand dollars out
that you have things in place to jump and straight away.
Speaker 6 (09:41):
Well that those guys rang the police straight away?
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Yeah, did they? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (09:47):
Yeah, they had their eyes on them when they were ringing.
And yet they waited the police waited for the next day.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
What the hell?
Speaker 2 (09:55):
That's right. That's why I read good because they said
to the day and the dead, that the hunters said,
to the day and the dead, said, you bit a
triple won it? And they did that.
Speaker 6 (10:02):
They did it exactly right there and then like good
boys they are. And yet and I'm only coming from
the mother's side markets but oh my god, that's silly man,
those porkards. Yeah yeah, having a life like that, that.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Just there's confident in reports of the police timeline. But
I think, I mean one of them said it was
twelve hours or they went in the next morning. Was
just seems crazy because the people would have would have
been would have been fast tracking it through way.
Speaker 6 (10:34):
Gone by the side. They saw those guys on the phone,
they would have well gone.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Police took several hours to respond. The police didn't come
out until the next morning.
Speaker 6 (10:43):
Yeah, the next morning.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Because it's close. I mean, this is matter, Cooper. I mean,
I guess the nearest cop shop would be hung Orntiquity
or somewhere like that. It wouldn't be too far away
or Tiawamutu. It'd be less than an hour. I would
think to drive out there with dogs.
Speaker 6 (10:58):
A helicopter with dogs and get up there.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
And quicker, wouldn't you Absolutely, and you'd fly. You'd any
fake a crew down from Auckland with some of your
sniffer dogs. You'd be there that night.
Speaker 6 (11:11):
Absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
And what the hell is please thinking?
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Well, doesn't look good for them that some guy with
three kids can have been on the run for three years.
That's amazing. It's a long time to be hiding. I mean,
you need food and things. Three kids hard to feed anyway,
you're Rick Marcus.
Speaker 8 (11:31):
Welcome, Yes, Spindling Marcus. It struck me that the police
must be spending an awful lot of money in this
hunt for the family. I think there's another way they
could go on, but they wouldn't need as much personnel
or mentor you know those cameras we put up for
pist animals to track them. Yes, we want to put
(11:54):
on a few of those cameras well, hidden in the positions,
and I'll get a point to where they might be.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
How smole an area? Would you need to know they
are to put cameras up? You'd want because I could
be all over the show, couldn't they?
Speaker 8 (12:08):
Yes, but you get put for in I see nothing movements.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Yeah, that makes sense, doesn't it.
Speaker 8 (12:15):
Yeah. My only other thought was, I don't know if
some if any news hounds actually asked the police's Christian,
I'd be interested to know what possible charges that man
like you're facing when he is found.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Yeah, and look and for me, that's not so much
of a concern. For me, it's a concerner of the
welfare of the children. But yeah, but you're saying the
stuff of charges for him, then there's more there's more
manpower they can throw at it.
Speaker 8 (12:49):
Right, Oh, I see is that what you is?
Speaker 2 (12:51):
That what your thoughts are?
Speaker 8 (12:54):
Well, yes, it is what I said to start with that, Yes,
that's possible. I'd probably get more public SyncE and I
might drop down the number of PEO or who was
supporting on.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
This could put and maybe the police out there. Maybe
the Maybe it's not a high priority for them, but
they're putting a reward out would indicate to me it
is a priority they put it. Ady k to find them.
Evening Roberts Marcus, Welcome.
Speaker 9 (13:23):
Hey Gillow Marcus, here's the gun.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Good thanks Robin.
Speaker 9 (13:27):
I'm from Blenham and I've been I've been prolonging this
for a week while. And I think that this mister
Phillips is a very smart man. I mean he he's
avoided the place he's avoided helicopters, ground seuchres erith. I mean,
how does somebody like that can just go undercover straight
(13:50):
away and not be seen from no one?
Speaker 2 (13:55):
You you've got to feed four people as well.
Speaker 10 (13:59):
Well, that's right.
Speaker 9 (14:00):
I mean they've been tuching them for what the last
couple of years. In three years they still that, Yeah,
they still haven't done them. I mean, so what's going
on here?
Speaker 2 (14:09):
But you think, because you think because of that, if
they're given a sighting, they if it's so, if they're
so difficult to find, you think given a chance to
actually close them quite quickly, when you've got an ebsite
positive sighting, you would be acting very very quickly to
get there to get on the trail, wouldn't.
Speaker 9 (14:25):
You, Yes, yes, Oh would agree, Oh would agree. But
I mean mister Phillips's lot. I mean, honestly, he's smarter
a lot of.
Speaker 11 (14:35):
People, and they still can't find them.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
And then I think the point too is I think
probably for the just for the serious reputation of the police,
you think they would have got out there and tried
to catch him a bit quicker because its not a
good lock.
Speaker 9 (14:51):
I don't think it's a very good look. I mean,
I remember at one stage they were going to get
somebody from the Essays or something to go in and
try and find them or track them or something. I
mean in the day, Marcus, I mean, they've got helicopters
with night vision, and yet after all this time there,
(15:12):
they're still haven't found them. The cave, I think, so
underground tunnel something like that. Who would know.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Because there's limestone country down there. That would be my thoughts.
But there's also those caves along the beach and things
like that also. To look nice to hear from here, Rob,
I appreciate you coming through. Yeah, Brian Marcus, welcome.
Speaker 12 (15:33):
I get Marcus.
Speaker 13 (15:35):
Hey, look, I haven't been following this case at all.
But what I do wonder is whether the police actually
I think that the kids are better off with him
and the bush giving them the bush knowledge and the
bits and pieces that come with you know, being out
there and learning how to survive, and maybe he's reading
for them and I don't know what he just teached
them and like that, but better off there than he
(15:57):
is with with the sign now back home. You know,
I'm not sure where they're coming from, but.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
I get that they did. They did put out a
reward for ready thousand dollars.
Speaker 13 (16:10):
Yeah, well that's that's just like that's just putting out
a thing to say that you know that they're they're
making it serious.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Okay, I don't.
Speaker 13 (16:19):
Think they sually that are they serious? I think if
they wanted to catch him by that catch him in
no time. But I just wonder with the think that.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Well, it makes them look. It's not good for the police,
pr because it makes the police.
Speaker 12 (16:32):
Look part couldn't agree with him more.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Yeah, there'll be my tape, but we'll find out more
about that because I think he's hasn't he been charged
with some some security some robbery that the van was
outside he had the stolen tiler high lux, I think,
and yes, I think he's got to Yeah, so so
(17:01):
I think they do want to catch him. They link
him to the alleged armed bank robber or alleged bank
robbers that's armed. Sorry, but there's that also too. So
just take a pause to read this email for man,
because this is actually quite a considered email. Marcus. Okay,
So what do people suppose will happen if the police
do find the family and arrive with a helicopter, dogs,
(17:22):
et cetera. Is it likely there will be a peaceful
surrender or might there be an armed stand off? No
one knows the father's present state of mind. There is
potential for a tragic outcome. The police will not want
to take any action that would place the children in danger.
It's a really good thought that I hadn't thought of that,
So thank you for that email. Yeah, that does put
a whole of different slant on it, doesn't it that
they wouldn't Perhaps that they are worried that. I mean,
(17:46):
they'd be worried for the trauma the children would face
for a situation like that, and they'd also be worried
about the guy state of mind. Also, if cornered and
about to be captured. He might they might have summoned
tell that they've sworn never to give his children up.
So yeah, yeah, look, I do take that. That's a
(18:07):
that's quite a worthwhile point of view, and that probably
explains a bit more some of their actions because of
course they will have all the details. They will have
the family will have spoken to what they expect he
will do and what that will be like. It is
amazing they haven't caught him. But yeah, I think that's
a free time of the email. So thanks for that
(18:28):
Many nine to nine, Chris Marcus welcome.
Speaker 7 (18:32):
Yeah, Hi, ma, guess find the PI that's been quoted
over the last three years in regards to I guess
the civil side of Tom and his children going missing.
So I could probably put a couple of little gaps
or fill a couple of little gaps that you've had
on the callers in the last ten minutes or so.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Sure you're the PI private investigator, right, yep, for the
felt Okay.
Speaker 12 (18:59):
Not for anybody.
Speaker 7 (19:00):
So A purely doing fielding the right thing at the
right time to help get these kids out. So I'm
not I'm not being renumerated or reward or anything from
any person.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
So who have you offered you? Who have you been
providing services for but myself?
Speaker 7 (19:17):
Okay, so really it's well if you go down that
track the services for the kids. So I'm not providing
anything for anybody. It's not paid. It's just going up
having a look. I've got some informance in the local area.
They tell me things. Information has been passed on to
the police, et cetera, et cetera.
Speaker 13 (19:34):
So again in the proa.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
And you've been you've been supported in this, not discouraged
in this.
Speaker 12 (19:39):
Right.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
This is something that's been of use to people.
Speaker 7 (19:43):
Well, certainly yes, in regards to updading information and probably
keeping the police on their toes a little bit, because
I have been quite outspoken in regards to the lack
of response at times or the length of time they've
taken to these things around their resource and etcetera.
Speaker 11 (20:00):
As well.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Okay, thanks for that background and tell me what you know.
Speaker 7 (20:04):
So if we come back to the first adding months
or so, the police didn't have it as a priority
because they believed that it was a civil matter in
regards to custody, because there were some custody hearing in
December when the kids went missing, and their attitude wasn't
quite as proactive as it could have been. They didn't
recognize it as a child abduction. They believed it was
(20:28):
a civil matter in regards to the family court. It
wasn't until the alleged robbery that occurred in Tiquetting that
charges were then laid. No, sorry, I tell all. There
was the charges laid initially when they were wasting police time,
and that's when he should have appeared in court and
a bench warrant was raised by the judge for his arrest.
The next time it came up was round the robbery
(20:52):
and there was a discharge of firearm. There was a
second person involved. That's when they became a greater police
interest because there was a criminal offense. Then there's a
bit of a public swell around the kids being out there,
not being with your family. So the police's messaging was
around we're interested in getting the kids and the secondary
(21:14):
is that Tom would be facing some charges around the
alleged robbery. That are all the articles at the moment.
The three kids have not been seen since then, so
I reckon that's really really positive that the kids have
been seen. It is believed that when he went for
the dairy late last year that it was the son
(21:35):
Maverick who was seen at that time, but the girls
have never been seen, so in that regards, it's a
really positive thing. I was going to jump in and
say that your emailer there was there being ex military
and working with the police previously, is that risk would
have been a big element of a nighttime search with
(21:55):
a person with the firearm that the police believes that.
They certainly say that don't anybody approach him with the firearm.
They don't know what's going to happen. And those points
that you just raise the result of that email are
very very pertinent, and that's probably the reason why they
didn't do anything on Thursday, even though I understand from
a local police cars were sent down into the area
(22:16):
on the Thursday evening, but there was no proactive searching
till till the Friday when they had helicopters available. Tom
is being helped by possibly family, definitely friends in the area.
That whole scenario with the alleged stolen vehicle when he
(22:38):
went up to Bunnings and Hamilton and down the Kafia
that was one of his best mates and it was
alleged that it was reported sole on the same day,
So there's a whole bunch of messiness around that. And
there have been the odd siding with Tom being seen
in a vehicle driving around, so he's not just sitting
out in the bush all the time. But how he survived,
(22:59):
how he's escaped, how the kids are still and they
look fairly well when you look at that photo, pretty amazing.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
They look like heavy packs they're carrying.
Speaker 7 (23:09):
Yes, yes it does, and it certainly looks like they're
going from location to location. So Tom does know the area,
and you're quite right, there are a number of caves
in that area and police identified some caves very early
on with the area or searchers when they also put
up fixed wind aircraft around that time. So he's a
bloody smart guys of them all the time.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Is he ex military?
Speaker 10 (23:32):
No he's not.
Speaker 12 (23:33):
No, he's not.
Speaker 7 (23:34):
The reports are that he's got a fair amount of
bush experience from his family farm, which is around Maracopa.
There's split opinion in regards to whether he's a survivalist
or a bush person. Certainly I understand from what I
have been told that his brother, who works on the
family farm as well, and truly a better bush person
(23:54):
than he is, but he is able to survive out
on the bush and with the kids. And when the
kids came out, when they first thought that they were
they something had gone wrong when his vehicle was seen
on the beach. The kid it's talked about cooking food
on an open fire of an animal they caught, et cetera.
So they were doing something even right back in the
October before they went miss again of December.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
Yeah, okay, do you do you have any idea how
big an area.
Speaker 7 (24:25):
He is?
Speaker 2 (24:28):
It's all that bush north of America? Is it north
of americ Copra? So it's the area south of Americopra?
Is it those areas.
Speaker 7 (24:35):
South Americapra around the beach where we were and then
and then also inland. So the family farm goes in
a fair bit and there's a bit of a heart out.
Speaker 12 (24:42):
The back there.
Speaker 7 (24:42):
You're probably talking an overall area about forty square kilometers,
so it's fairly large. It's a bit of a drive through.
It's back country roads, and there's lots of different farms
and that around the place. So it's one hell of
an area to hide out. And it'sn't. All I can
say is it's really great news that the kids have
(25:02):
been seen. That's heart and I understand the mum made
some comments of the media today around heart felt. They're alive,
they're walking the fit, but Tom, please bring them home.
The wider family wants to have a greater impact with them.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Plenty of pigs and goats and stock, I suppose on
farms to keep them sustained and seafood.
Speaker 7 (25:23):
There is heaps out there and including some deer and
other bits and pieces. And if he's if he's been
you know, over the time, if he's been working at
the back of a friend's farm, he's been out either
in solar accommodation caves otherwise he's well and truly planned
it and he's getting help. Not quite sure of course
(25:43):
why he wanted to go to the dairy, but you
never know. You know, the young girls are now starting
to get into puberty, so there's a whole dynamic around
that as well. So I guess I've always been one
believe that there's only two ways that they're going to
get found as one one of the kids gets sick
and he does the right price, yes, and the second
one van is by complete accident, and that's what's happened
(26:05):
with his farm these pigs. So all we can ask
is anybody around the area if you see them, report
it to the police. There's lots of Facebook messages that
talk them about being a modern day Robin Hood and
all that sort of stuff. That's absolutely rubbish. He's a
criminal and the kids need to be found and brought.
It bore back into society.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
If you've spoken to any people that in the in
the whole psychology of the children, I presume that they
are with him against the world. Is that the way?
That's that's what happens you side, it's more around.
Speaker 7 (26:36):
I'm just trying to remember the name of that syndrome
when you when you're lying yourself with the kid stock
and syndrome. Yeah, And I think once again, you don't
know what the story is they told originally. It could
be you know that you know, mum, or the police
are going to take me away from you. I don't
want to be separated from WHI I love you. This
(26:56):
is an adventure. I'll teach you everything I know because
I was homeschool therefore all homeschooled. You listen to these
rumors of about him and the kids turning up for
family barbicue Us in December last year. We're family members
were all that sort of rumor is going around, and
that's the information that the police would have been sifting
through when they gave that eighty thousand dollars award. They
(27:16):
got a lot of information. But I understand that the
first time they've called anything credible is this recent sighting.
So that would indicate the police really believe what's happened.
They would not have moved out of the area. There's
going to be law enforcement officers, there's going to be
other people hanging around in cities, but here's a really
good jungle network down there, and as soon as anybody
(27:39):
who's not known comes into the area with a quad
bike on a trailer Etcenta, the jungle grums start and
everybody knows. So that's when people I know I've made
contact with they ring me up and say, hey, the
police are in the area today. They're going around Xpy's
head on their quad bikes.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
But everybody knows that they So Chris was he homeschooled?
Speaker 7 (28:00):
I understand that was in some of the media articles recently.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
Yeah, I'm always mindful that dad or the young all
that sailed with the catam rang out a calf.
Speaker 7 (28:09):
He remember that, yes, yes, few years ago.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Yeah, and that was an amazing kind of a thing.
Also he got caught and in south of Sydney Ala Dulla,
So that was the main thing. Okay, well that's really helped. Well,
you don't even know. They might have already, they might
be listening, but yeah, that's really it is. Really it
is really positive that they've been cited and looking healthy
and still able to walk and things like that, so
they will be they'll be having plenty of meat and
(28:32):
protein right though they should be. I mean it could be.
It's probably quite a healthy way to live in some ways,
isn't it.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
I mean, you know sick, Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
And listen, you look at all the plants that are
out there. There's you know, people have survived in our
bush's for hundreds of years, so there's plenty out there
to survive on. It's fresh water, there's plenty a kai.
It's just really the weather and you know, she's been
a bit of a couple of cold winters. He's been
the flooding. So I just really hope that the experience
hasn't been too bad and quite survivalistic, but certainly a
(29:08):
bush way of living. Has what their kids and Tom done,
and then with Tom going out to get what survives
supplies that he needed, hence you know the Bunning's and
the car for the incident. You know, there's the robbery.
You know he used a quad bite to go to
the dairy late last year. So you know, there is
a part of the community that's supporting them, and there's
(29:32):
certainly lots of comments about leaving dad alone, leave the kids.
Maybe they want to be there. Yeah, I get all that.
There's a wider seat of family and there's a way
that New Zella lives and they don't have to live
in the bush like they are.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
You're largely supportive that of the police now that they've
got the you think that they are acting, they've made
enough of a priority.
Speaker 7 (29:52):
I think they've definitely changed their stances from three years ago,
and there's been a change in the leadership in Hamilton
that's running this. I believe that every single cop that
has responded in, every single cop that's involved in that
area want a successful outcome. They do not want to
stand off with Tom, and so they've taken that a
(30:12):
bit of a cautious approach. Once again the court with
their resources. There's lots happening in the White Cato area,
whether it's simil defense, whether it's drive bys, whether it's
ram raids and all this sort of stuff, and there's
only so many guys and men and women in the
police force that can go around and act in these activities.
You know, you'd be lucky if you've got two or
(30:33):
three cars in the entire area working late on a
Thursday night, for example. So the resourcing is good. I'm
just certainly interesting that, you know, it's not a political thing.
There's nobody else pushing them, given extra things to do.
But I firmly believe that the police are doing the
right thing. They're the right people, and they are going
to find them. Let's just hope it's sooner than later.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
Fantastic, Really appreciate your insight on it, Chris, Thank you
so much. Steve Marcus welcome.
Speaker 14 (30:58):
Oh yeah, you got a grand piano story for you.
Speaker 7 (31:01):
Great.
Speaker 14 (31:02):
Was offered one free do a good home, so went around.
They gave me a dress. The house was in the
process of being demolished and they found it in an
upstairs room and the only way it was unplayable. It
hadn't been played for years. A lovely solid oak was
a nice grain, so I pulled it to pieces. I
(31:27):
had to get it out anyway. I left the frame
and the keyboard upstairs. I bought all the timber home
and I made a dining room table out of it.
Speaker 7 (31:37):
Wow.
Speaker 14 (31:38):
The local antique dealer gave me a hundred bucks for
it when I finished. Sh Yeah, it was lovely. It
had a lovely grain to it. But nobody seemed to
know why how it had got up there. I had
no idea because I had to take it apart to
get it out. But a lovely grain, and it got through.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Maybe a hoist or something.
Speaker 14 (32:06):
Oh, I don't know how they would have done it originally.
It had been there a long time.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
It was very old.
Speaker 14 (32:13):
But anyway, you know, it made a nice dining room
table out of it, and I got enough to make
one chair out of what was left.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
What did you do with the keys?
Speaker 14 (32:26):
I left them upstairs with the soundboard with all the strings.
I couldn't get it out.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Are the keys? Ivory?
Speaker 14 (32:35):
Ah? Could have been? It was a tortuous stairwell to
get up and down. I had difficulty get in what
I did get out. How it ever got there to
start with, I have no idea.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
An old house was like a weatherboard house.
Speaker 14 (32:53):
Yeah, oh, weatherboard house. Probably about eighteen eighty it was built.
I think they were saying that they the demograt. They
got all the windows and the doors, and they recycled
half of the house. So I went back a couple
of days later and they pushed it all one corner
with the bulldoze and burned it all. Yeah, I reckon
it was full worm.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
What was a stoneway?
Speaker 14 (33:18):
Oh good, I couldn't. No, we didn't have a name
on it, or would have had a name on it
had worn off.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Maybe they built it there, Steve, it's a good story.
Thank you for that. I'm covering Hurricane Milton worse than
one hundred years. They've told people to sit it out.
You're going to die in hurrican Alley because lot of
those people are on trailer homes like Eate Mile. Looking
(33:47):
at the texts and things, I think, with the lack
of information about this case, it seems though people have
projected all sorts of their own information and interpretation on it,
which I guess is human nature. I guess in a
vacuum of information. People who kind of interpret stories like
this and even try and use them for their own
kind of agendas and things to push. Seeing a little
bit of that coming through with texts, which is fine,
(34:11):
but just try and deal in the fits a little bit.
And obviously this is quite a big story on the
Reddit thread and things like that. I'm not always sure
that the right information is kind of on those Reddit threads,
but yeah, certainly people have opinions of it. I think
most people are being agreement. They just what the people
(34:31):
found and a safe outcome. So if you want to
talk about that good also giving away the grand piano.
Love that music teacher that started the show. Of course
it's a scam, Scott Marcus Good evening.
Speaker 12 (34:44):
Let's go on, Marcus Good. Thank you, Scott good Good.
I'm just kind of I'm thinking, like I understand how
when he's going with this kind of stuff. For you,
we want the kids found, but like for something to
get to this situation, there's got to be underlying matters
that Like obviously the police know and the mother knows,
(35:07):
but the wide public don't know. Like myself, I've got
a I've got a daughter myself on her mother looks
after her. But like in the past, I've been put
in situations where it's like I've been held up against
(35:27):
the wall over situations that, yeah, in today's society is
not a big thing, but when it comes down to
the family court, you're labeled and that's it. You're You're done.
Speaker 5 (35:41):
And I just.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
Sorry, Scott, who's held you against the wall?
Speaker 12 (35:47):
Well, I'm just talking about being in a situation with
my ex partner where it's like basically with my child,
it was a situation that's like she went home for
the weekend. I had custody rights, well not custody rights,
it was our agreement. I had it during the we
for school. She went home on the weekends. But all
(36:09):
of a sudden, everything changed and you know, from going
home to a mother on a Friday back to me
on a Sunday, it just wasn't going to happen. And
I don't know something. All I'm saying is something changes
in a situation.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
Did the police hold you? Did the police hold you
against the wall?
Speaker 12 (36:29):
I'm not saying the police held meet anything. All I'm
saying is is like basically, if like you know, if
it came to be in a family court matter is
what this would be, I know, three years ago maybe
or four years ago, like before he did this. I'm
not saying what he's done is right, but it's like
there's certain members in the family court where like your father, And.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
That's the point I'm saying a lot of people are
actually projecting their own battles and things against it. So
you were just were you say you were held against
the wall. That was a figure of speech.
Speaker 12 (37:02):
Right, Well, yeah, it's a figure of speech, understand Yep.
As far as his point of view, it's like, you know,
there would be so much that the public doesn't know
about the situation. So rather like.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
Everybody because people have right to privacy, don't they well exactly.
Speaker 12 (37:22):
But see the thing is, it's like, what we've got
eleven year old and eight year old and a nine
year old, It's like, really, if they didn't want to
be there, Like.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Yeah, no, really sorry, I've got to push back really
strongly against that. You can't you can't say things like
if they didn't want to be that, they wouldn't be
there their children. You can't say things I think it's
kind of responsible to say stuff like that. I'm sorry,
but I'm going to a very strong reaction against that,
because you could use that with all sorts of abduction
(37:52):
cases and things like that, and like we heard that
Chris Budge spoke earlier about Stockholm syndrome and things like that.
Some of says Marcus, do you think Tom Phillips and
his children have had their COVID vaccinations? That's what I
mean about the text that some people that have got
problems with the family courts are having their own views
on this One's are the anti vaxers. They're having their
own views on this one. I don't think it's a
(38:12):
COVID thing, but thank you, Colin. Marcus. Is a big country.
Dow only have read dents and lots of cover. The
police cannot just turn up and say come with me.
The predictability in state of mind of mister Phillips is
a huge concern. How he rects and safety of children
at this point is making it very difficult. I am
(38:33):
interested in the grand piano for a gifted eighteen year
old who has done Masters and piano been playing since
he was three, awaiting confirmation of music scholarship. That's from cam.
The piano is a scam. The email I got at
work was a scam email. There's someone that asks. They
say they want to give away a piano, they want
someone to play it to honor their dead husband, and
(38:55):
you say you want it, and they say, we'll give
us eight hundred dollars for cartage. It's a pretty simple scam. Lee,
welcome Marcus evening.
Speaker 5 (39:05):
Oh, good evening, stomach.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
How are you?
Speaker 5 (39:11):
You know? Their opinion that I want to see about
the children missing with the father is, in my own opinion,
that's absolutely wrong because at the vulnerable age of those children,
you know, in eight nine and eleven, I think they
still cannot make up their mind even though Mark is
(39:34):
their father, that doesn't even the right to know. I'm
sorry to use this word because I'm not sure what's
actually going on on the other side of you know,
mister Mark's mind. The children are still vulnerable because of
(39:55):
their age, and there's certain things they cannot decide for
themselves about because this is a family matter. It involves
the mother as well, ask the father, and the decision
to go into a forest with those three young children,
in my opinion, that's just wrong because that's endangerment and
(40:18):
it takes away the children's right, you know, to have
accessed with their family to their relatives, you know, their mother,
their uncles, their aunts, and yeah, I just think.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
It's wrong and their education and the things they have
every right to have.
Speaker 5 (40:34):
Sure, sure, sure, sure, because there's been a couple of
years now and the children will be no matter how
you're going to talk about it, the psychological factors that's
been compromised now, I'm sure in twenty years time these
children will still be talking of the traumas even though
they cannot express themselves now. Because I'm from Africa, I
(40:59):
live in New Zealand, and I'm telling you there's no
way I'm going to be in a forest for a
whole year backpacking and telling myself in a way that yes,
that's appropriate, because there's no way someone could express to
me that it's much warmer, it's much safer and a
forest and to be onder a shelter, even if it's
(41:21):
a shade for the safety options that.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
I think, I think the children would be an extremely
There would be a real heightened anxiety that pick up
from their father as well, wondering if they're going to
get caught the whole time, and very very difficult.
Speaker 5 (41:38):
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes definitely, and it's yeah,
it's I think it's it's it's it's sad, and hopefully
I pray that the children have found life and well
and safe and their father to and my prayers also
with their family, because I've got my own children have
(42:00):
to deal with the family coach. You know, I've been
dealing with the family con for over twenty years in
New Zealand, and one of the things that I've decided
for myself and for men in general, is that before
you before you open your mind, blame the family courts.
You make their choice to lay with that woman. You know,
(42:21):
I'm from Nigeria. I make the choice to come here
as a country that welcomes me. But it's my personal
choice and decision to go with the women. The family
court supports the women, blah blah blah. New Zealand government
doesn't like men who cares. That's just passing the back.
(42:46):
We have to stand up as men and say yes,
if this is going through the family court, there's been
some proceedings before you get to the family court, even
if there's nothing wrong with the person, don't blame the government,
Blame yourself for chosing the wrong partner and I'm just saying,
(43:06):
you know, from the person a man blaming a woman
or a family called blame yourself because we decide you
know Mark, if you know, mister Mark, how are you
on the radio now? If you push the off button
and switch off the engine, are you going to blame
Lee or are you going to blame yourself?
Speaker 2 (43:24):
Blame my producer Lee? Thank you very much for that.
Nice to hear from your nineteen past nine, eight hundred
and eighty eight, ten eighty and nineteen ninety to text.
Hurricane Milton's about to hit Florida. I shall tell you
the time in Florida. I think this one's even too
strong for people normally seeing n has weather reporters tied
to lamppost, this might even be too strong for that.
(43:48):
It's four twenty five a m. I'll see how far
away sunrise is seven seventeen sunrise and just under three hours,
so that's when you'll get the pictures if you're a
hurricane chase or you want to watch that, it's not
far away. Despite the circumstances, Tom Phillips will be bonding
(44:09):
well with his children. Well that's a wild bit of speculation.
It would be my take. Good evening, Marcus, what's between
a cyclone and a typhoon depends we here ow I think, Marcus.
I hope you're having a good evening. I live off grid,
no power, no electron, no refrigeration. I lived off grid
(44:32):
from two eight to two sixteen. My oldest two children
were born during that time. It's a simple and healthy life,
but by no means easy. Even clothing the kids is
a massive task, let alone keeping everyone warm. I cannot
overemphasize how important social interaction is. We would make a
(44:53):
point of heading into town every couple of weeks for
people as much as supplies. It does odd things to
the mind. Be nice said for long periods. These kids
are going to need a lot of help when they
eventually come back to society. Are we getting excited about
the America's Cup here? That's not far away the final channel?
Will we go up against Britain? And he asked Britain?
Anyone excited about that? I'm not even quite sure how
(45:17):
we're supposed to feel about that, because I think what
happens when it comes to America's Cup racing is if
you win the start, you win the race, unless you
make a mistake where you come off the foils, which
begs the question is it a good sport? Well, no,
I wouldn't say it is. It's a little bit arbitrary.
(45:39):
There's also a big article about the statue in Colic
Bay in Southland. I can't believe how much the community
is spent on that statue. It's a shocker. These communities
get these statues and they're badly made. They cost a
fortune to maintain. They spent thirty five grand maintaining this one.
(46:00):
You're Tom Marcus evening.
Speaker 15 (46:01):
Welcome, Oh, good evening shot. Getting my rady off the Phillips.
We got to ask me how thank you sir. The
Phillips family and the pig hunters, well, which side of
the pig hunders? And they saw the family of four
and then they later told the public or the police
(46:24):
why they didn't want them found what you're thinking, did
they did? They just one notoriety? Why didn't they follow
them and so that they could be detained?
Speaker 2 (46:36):
Oh, there were kids hunting with their dead. Oh okay,
and they dialed one one one dead Sea and they
dialed one one one straight away?
Speaker 15 (46:49):
Ah right, well they did.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
You could read that and find that out though, couldn't
you rather coming and strong about saying that this family
of pig hunter should have pursued them.
Speaker 15 (47:01):
I was just proposing to say something I didn't expect
to be abused. I know the area.
Speaker 2 (47:07):
I'm not I'm not abusing you, but I'm just saying
that that's a big ask to say. Why don't they
Why don't they go after them?
Speaker 15 (47:15):
Well, if they, if those the Piggunners wanted them to
be found, I thought that it wouldn't been sensible to
follow them.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
But you come through.
Speaker 15 (47:27):
Whoever the day was it.
Speaker 2 (47:30):
I will be there in the article. Was it looks
looks have you seen the phot looks like it was.
It looks like it was early evening.
Speaker 15 (47:39):
Ah, well, they sent a helicopter. I suppose it didn't
have heat seeking, but there was. There's airstrips there. I
hunt the area myself, I know it, and I'm just
wondering about that. I was, yeah, they I thought they
(48:00):
could have followed them.
Speaker 9 (48:01):
Yeah, they wanted them found.
Speaker 15 (48:04):
They had their phone ring on one. I don't think
there's any I don't think there's any. There isn't certain
parts of their cell phone coverage that most of it
hasn't got any many pegs.
Speaker 2 (48:18):
Any pigs, did you say, I said many pegs.
Speaker 15 (48:23):
There's a fair few, but you've always got to have
trouble finding them when you were there.
Speaker 2 (48:28):
Many goats, yes, okay, and so plenty to eight.
Speaker 15 (48:37):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, lots of turkeys last time I
was down my what I said, or les four over there.
So we took them home on the last day. But
it's a long way in driving, yeah, copy that, yeah,
long way. But as I repeat, right about that area, well,
I'm not a hundred sure, but they're about pretty close.
(48:57):
There are airstrips.
Speaker 2 (48:59):
Yeah, I'm just looking on Google Maps to look for
those of these. But of course you wouldn't need one
of those in a chopper, would you. But pretty it
looks pretty steep country too, doesn't it.
Speaker 15 (49:09):
Oh it is, it is, it is, And that's why
it's difficult following. And you criticized that I thought it
might if he wanted them found or was on the
side of that happening, they should have followed.
Speaker 2 (49:24):
I don't think that. I don't think that. I don't
you know, I think this is just the young guys
out pig hunting. I don't think Yeah, anyway, okay, I'll
take your point, Tom, Someone's agreed with you for texting Marcus.
Easiest way to tell the genuine rolics is the genior
Rolics is a sweeping second and not a tick tick tick.
(49:46):
Could you give my brother con Flynn who transported oh yep,
oh yeah, Kerry Cary on the curry, who transported you
on Grape Barrier Island, on the kitty Kitty rower he
caught COVID has been struggling with the pressure. Good fun
Now are con flint, he says, says that it may
(50:14):
have been a big earthquake and tongue that may have
heaved the reef upwards, and maybe why they were serving
the coastline. I thought it was a big I thought
it was a volcano rather than an earthquake. There and
the America's Cup were onto that also tonight, Marcus with
(50:34):
the America's Cup seventy million. One thing is back in
the nineties, the Orcada was made and the cup became money.
So that's what happened. Why there is sport just based
on the start? Someone says, follow the family year right.
You don't really want to give the billboard discussion. I don't
really want to give to any publicity. But I think
(50:56):
my thoughts on the Towy Billboard company. They've shut down
the brewery they've owned by a Japanese company. I'll better
check that out there, owned by the Japanese company. Who
owns too?
Speaker 7 (51:08):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (51:08):
Kind of? And now they're trying to make themselves be
relevant by trying to make up they understand keep we humor.
Heinek and Asia Pacific owns it so to. I don't
think anyone particularly thinks it's humorous to make light out
(51:32):
of fairly tragic court case for everyone involved, there'd be
my take. I mean a lot of people thought that
and had post private things and discussions, but then to
use it to try and sell beer. I don't think
the new two billboard campaign thing will last. I think
the times have changed. I think people have moved on
(51:52):
beyond that beer too, haven't they. They've gone on to
to your craft beer and stuff. Pause, they're not making
it there anymore. That's kind of heartbreaking. That beautiful building.
So yeah, I think that should be the that should
be the that should ready be the two eel board
should be brewed and Mangatano. Yeah, right, And that's really
(52:13):
what it's about. They've abandoned us. Was a great brew
had a great heritage, and they gave up on all
of that. Now they've got us some advertising wizards coming
up with what they think is edgy billboards Tawny emails.
She says that previous caller needs to read the article
quotes one pig hunter was only sixteen years old. They
(52:34):
noticed Tom with a gun and didn't want to engage.
He was hurrying the kids along and they were all
wearing masks. Please are ages away from the area. Takes
a while to drive there. Bordeaux Bakeries closing against three
Willington sites. I read that article today, Thornton Key, Featherston
Street and Lampnon Kisa all in the CBD turnover dropped
(52:55):
between sixty and seventy percent because of roadworks and loss
of car parks. I'll tell you what. There's a lot
of good new bakeries have cropped up in Wellington also,
and maybe it's just maybe that's what happens with bakeries
becomes quite competitive. Well think it was very well done
for its baget, been there since ninety four. Destination business.
(53:27):
That's where need the car parks. Didn't know that Phoenix
Crossland was a Kiwi. There you go. He's a guy
plays say he's for Newcastle, so I'm surprised to see that.
But he's gonna be in the Kiwi team. It's going
to be one hell of a pacific boy. That tongue
in team Jeepers Tomlolo kept and that's going to be
a they could win it boy. Going to be fantastic. Anyway,
(53:52):
get in touch. My name's Marcus HITDL twelve. You might
have something else you want to mention, have a quibble
about my quibble currently? I tell you what's a dud?
What's a total dud? That is that? I don't know
what you guys think of it? That will wors everyday
rewards card? You have got one of those? They won't
give you a card, it's an app on your phone.
(54:13):
I was an Alexandra trying to buy some stuff at
the supermarket. Say Eve gone a reward card as they have, Well,
couldn't get couldn't unlock it, ask me for a pass
word or I just said, why would you make it
so complicated? Just want to get some groceries and get
out of there. Of course, the person at the check out,
they've got no I think that I don't know how
it works, but the whole thing about a reward card,
(54:37):
and I don't even think that the supermarket themselves let
into it, because it ever seems to be any discounts
on it. Has anyone found it worthwhile? Then someone's telling
me to take a screenshot of the card on your
photos and bring that up when you get well. Could
you be bothered going through your photos to find the
screenshot of your reward card? That's my card? And I'd
(54:59):
forgotten about my trauma at Alexander and time I was
at the supermarkets and I thought, what have I got
to do? It all came flashing back to me, the
fact that I've once again forgotten the password. Who wants
to reset the past? We just want to check through
to buy some quick groceries. Anyway, my journey, my problem,
build a bridge, Get over it. Oh eight hundred and Marcus,
(55:22):
they still the news. The reasons that peg Hunters didn't
pursue that Tom was both the Peak Hunters and Tom
had firearms, and the Peak Hunters would be unwise. Obviously,
That's why I told the guy Marcus. I realized the
children may not be maybe missing out on their education
having friends. But when they met the hunter, they did
not ask for help. Rather, they were more just knowing
whether people knew where they were. Well, I think if
(55:44):
you yeah, I don't think you're going to ask for help.
If your dad's there with a firearm, is clearly not
wanting to have help. Graham, A's Marcus, good evening and.
Speaker 3 (55:53):
Welcome, Yeah, grant some self. Then we saw they had
started at a roar about an hour ago. It looked
like a lingering sunset, and it looked towards the southwest,
towards southern Cross. And of course you have a very
bright star in the sky, in the evening sky, and
that's Venus.
Speaker 2 (56:13):
Of course I went.
Speaker 3 (56:15):
Outside this a month ago and had a look. But
it's of course in suburbia. Of course, you really want
to get to a darker location. Now this saw, it's
got quite handy about another week. Because of the comet
you've probably heard about Chanson Shaudan Atlas, otherwise known as
two thy and twenty three A three. It's going to
(56:37):
be appearing in the evening sky in about in a
week or so, right about where Venus is.
Speaker 6 (56:42):
Now.
Speaker 2 (56:42):
The chances I thought I saw some article on the
odt saying there's no chance of seeing that a one
in eight thousand or something. Did you read that article?
Speaker 3 (56:51):
Oh? So we get a lot of articles tie an
American wner.
Speaker 2 (56:55):
Well it's paywall. It says one in eighty thousand years. Oh, no,
one in eighty thousand year. Chance, so it comes round
every Can you bang that article down for me?
Speaker 16 (57:04):
Dan?
Speaker 2 (57:05):
It's on the oddity called what are these three dollars pies?
At night? And how much is a pie normally at
night and day? Graham?
Speaker 3 (57:13):
Oh, I think it's about five and a half dollars
or something.
Speaker 2 (57:15):
So three dollars is a cheap pie, isn't it?
Speaker 12 (57:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (57:19):
Chens, what's on the pie? And what it's the ingredients?
Speaker 12 (57:22):
TV?
Speaker 3 (57:23):
Yeah, well you get different brands. But I just thought
I put out that little teaser for about a week's time.
Speaker 2 (57:30):
Hang on, hang on? What's the comic called?
Speaker 3 (57:34):
Oh the comets almost unpronounceable. Name is Shanshin Sean Atlas?
Speaker 2 (57:42):
Was it discovered by Shanshin Sean?
Speaker 3 (57:45):
I was discovered by a Chinese observatory and then about
six months later, also last year, it was independently rediscovered
by the Atlas Observatory. So it's named to observatories, but
people finding a bit of a mouth order pronounced. We'll
get your tongue around. So to twenty three A three.
Speaker 2 (58:08):
Well the Chinese founders first. They should have given them
the naming right, shouldn't they sounds a bit political, Not.
Speaker 3 (58:15):
Really, after politics works a bit differently. You can have
it named after the first three discoverers.
Speaker 2 (58:24):
Okay, comic nonsense. The stone Age will be seen by
the naked either this week. Comet a C dash two
two three AC shuan shin Shan atlas was discovered by
astronogery last year and the duneedan astronam enthusiasts looking forward
towards debut above the city.
Speaker 3 (58:43):
Gee, well things where you go to look for it.
It was briefly observable in the southern skies for about
a week or so about the end of the months
last month, and people just way about another week it
will be it's gone around the far side of the sun.
(59:05):
You can't sit in the soul were clear at the moment,
excuse me, but you will see it on its outward leg,
but you will have to be pretty close to about
half an hour an hour after sunset in the evening twilight.
Speaker 2 (59:21):
Sky this will be the first comment that's been visible
since McNaught in two thousand. You remember I saw McNaught
on Eaty Beach. Do you remember that one two thousands?
Speaker 3 (59:30):
It was Accord it was it called McNaughton, Yeah, two
thousand and sixty p one. It was a little scientific name.
And they had about had about eight and nine tails,
some a like a big sand tail. That was like,
whoa that was?
Speaker 2 (59:45):
That was really exciting to see. Okay, so when what
day do we see this? Graham?
Speaker 16 (59:49):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (59:50):
About that another week? Try try looking from about the
fifty of October to about the twentieth. Yea, it's about
the twentieth.
Speaker 2 (59:58):
You remind us, say, oh, I certainly will yep yep,
appreciate that. Thank you. I want to talk about the
Willies reward card also. I think it's a have that's
my take on it. Thank you so much. I just
heard you talking about Night and Day pies. I had
(01:00:18):
two last time, that a special in June in July
for three dollars, two mints and cheese. They are delicious
and good value. I know where I'm going for the
next two tuesdays. Can't wait. Try one, buddy, bloody, Bloody
beautiful for three dollars? Will that be the cheapest pie
you could get as the night and Day pie. I
just saw it because it's a big pop up advertisment
on the ODT three dollar pie, So there you go.
(01:00:42):
I don't know that's cheap. You're not about four fifty
five dollars. Snow for Milford. Heavy snow is set to
blanket the Milford Highway, while other alpine roads in the
south may be affected by snow showers into Wednesday. There
you go, Crown Range, Lindis Arthur's Lewis usual suspects. I
(01:01:06):
had the same rewards card. After she explained to me
what I had to do, I walked outside and put
on the rubbish too hard, So hard reward cards should
be easy. How could Wolworths score own goal after own goal?
I'm still getting over the rat? Was that Wolworth's Yeah,
(01:01:27):
the countdown rat. That's right, Wolworth's count. I get in
touch people. Anything goes? Is it quake? Anyone feel that
quake just yet? I'm on the Geonette site now looking
into that one. There's been a quake just moments ago.
I think someone's just text it through to me. Ten
seventeen nits here from you commets. Oh you see, sometimes
(01:01:51):
people say they've just felt an earthquake, but I think
they mightn't have felt it if I can't see that
one that someone's just texted through three point seven meters
who quake southwest of Tasmania. Oh yeah, I don't do Tasmania, Marcus.
Get the app for the Warworth Rewards Card easy to
access and items to buy to boost points. I've had
(01:02:13):
two fifteen dollars awards, are quite happy. Well I got that,
then it didn't recognize my password. Then it just became
a panicked Was it the check out? The person looked upset?
Have you tried the Oreo flavored coke? No one one
ever would, Marcus. We didn't bother with the Warlworth reward
card because it asked for credit card details. Felt that
(01:02:34):
was unnecessary and nosy. It is. And the word is
from the callers on this show, is he going to
give up on it? They're not committed to it. They've
tried to roll it out, hasn't worked. That's what I heard,
and I'm sticking with that, Pauline, Marcus.
Speaker 17 (01:02:49):
Welcome, Hello, How are you good?
Speaker 2 (01:02:52):
Pauline?
Speaker 18 (01:02:53):
This comment that we're supposed to be looking out for
some time. Did it actually last appear eighty thousand years.
Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
Ago Stone Ages?
Speaker 12 (01:03:04):
Yes?
Speaker 18 (01:03:06):
How on earth do they know that it's the same comet?
Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
You know?
Speaker 18 (01:03:11):
We gotta we tag on it last year of stone
ageremely good question. Yeah, and do you know the answer?
Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
It's originated in the Oort cloud, which lies beyond Neptune's orbit.
Speaker 18 (01:03:28):
Carry on.
Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Of course, no one might have seen it eighty thousand
years ago. They might have been busy doing other stuff.
I don't know the answer. Maybe someone else. Would you
be happy for someone else to answer that, Pauline?
Speaker 18 (01:03:37):
Absolutely?
Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
There you go. Pauline wants to know how they know
the comic last orbited eighty thousand years ago. I guess
they just work out how fast it's going and they
work out its arc it's elliptical, or but they got you.
I don't know what's the planet, what's the comets? I
don't know the picture of a path of a comet.
(01:03:59):
Do you answer me that? People riddle me this, Neil
Marcus welcome.
Speaker 19 (01:04:03):
I can answer that questions straight away. But major big
telescopic operations the United States and Kender and countries like
I think junior as.
Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
Well, you're making this up.
Speaker 19 (01:04:16):
No, they track it. They can work out the physics
of the whole soul system.
Speaker 2 (01:04:24):
Yeah. So once they spotted, they spotted, you've got it.
They work out how long it's been around, and then
they work out and they work out when it must
have last. They have a machie. There's probably an app
on their phone.
Speaker 19 (01:04:34):
Well probably now today, you're right now, I took that pies.
Speaker 2 (01:04:39):
Oh do you know where the pies? Do you know
where the pies are made? From night and day?
Speaker 19 (01:04:45):
We got pies one hundred and fifty meters away from
your chicken pie, which is a big country green and
it's really nice.
Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
It's a big country. How much did you say?
Speaker 5 (01:04:56):
Fifty?
Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
Really?
Speaker 5 (01:04:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
Really?
Speaker 5 (01:05:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 19 (01:05:04):
So where are you natre? We just I was going
to get one of those tells Tony telescopes and follow
all these events because they're happening all the time.
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
Hanging away from gone from pie to telescopes.
Speaker 19 (01:05:16):
Now, oh, sorry about that. I was in the shop
where he had the telescopes. I was twiddling with one,
and the men came over and said, ah, looking at
that sign across the way there, and if you thought
about buying one and I explained about the constant flurry.
We had things to see in the sky the last
(01:05:37):
few years. And I'll tell you what, I'm not twenty
dollars off the price, you know, And I thought only yeah,
so just walked out and didn't say anything. It's just
as well because it's a milky sky of an ape
starts at all?
Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
Is a big country pie called a missus Mac's Big
Country Pie?
Speaker 19 (01:05:57):
I think so?
Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
Yeah, there's two fifty Yeah, cheaper than the night and day?
Speaker 19 (01:06:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:06:06):
Any good?
Speaker 19 (01:06:08):
Yeah, really nice coming live in nature, Marcus, come up.
Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
I like chicken pie. It's a long time I've had one.
Oh you're the weather down Here's it's about been the
end of me.
Speaker 19 (01:06:18):
Yeah, you call your place in the giggle.
Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
I live in bluff. I don't live it in the cargo.
Speaker 19 (01:06:26):
I'll call you a bluff on that one.
Speaker 2 (01:06:28):
Yeah, but I'll find out more about the cheapest pie.
And we'll find out what happened to that asteroid. Know
what the comment? How they know it's been that far
along around? Marcus?
Speaker 11 (01:06:37):
What do you mean?
Speaker 2 (01:06:38):
The orange card? Last time I rose through is the girls?
So they had a reward twenty five bucks that I
want it now? I said yes, just being to Herbie
Hancock concert Rkan epic. A moisture must be a mixture
of jazz and think it might have been a moisture
of jazz and think but joy Funk the Man's eighties
and store Rocket Cheers demo. Nice to hear from your demo, Marcus.
(01:07:03):
I mentioned Tasmania and that's where I'm from, and lots
of social chat coming through. It's unusual for a quake
in Tasmania.
Speaker 7 (01:07:10):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
So the cheapest pie in the country. And where does
night and Day make their pies? And comets? Anyone else?
Remember comment McNaught It was a goodie. So this is
the first comet that's been visible since McNaught. I always
remember in Egmont Nork. I remember Anista McNaught. Of course
(01:07:33):
she read the news, didn't she. The comet's not named
after her, well, not to my knowledge. So this comet
has not been seen since the Stone ages. Macon should
watch where the sun would set on Friday, make a
note of that on the horizon, and then after that,
(01:07:56):
as twilight hits, look to the right. If you see
it one night, look further right the next night, and
so on. It's a big Cote Marcus of twelve What
do you got eight hundred and eighty nine to nine
to your text, Dave Marcus, welcome.
Speaker 16 (01:08:18):
Marcus chick pie Yeah mate, Yeah, the Coopland's minister and
you've got to be the cheapest dollar twenty.
Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
Yeah, coland Cooplands allions.
Speaker 16 (01:08:32):
Yeah, and there's generally all good quality stuff, really good,
it good. Hey, give missus max pies mate, they're oh
theres Australian. They're absolutely rubbish. I'd leave me lane or
touch one with a barge pile. Mate.
Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
Would they be would they be kangaroo?
Speaker 16 (01:08:49):
Oh? You wouldn't know what was in them. I only
had one once and I thought this, this is a pie?
Was an Austrai pie. You can forget about it. And
you know, all the time I was over there, I
never had a decent meat mince or steak and cheese pie. Mate.
You just couldn't find one, same as the fish and chips.
Speaker 12 (01:09:05):
Over there there there rubbish.
Speaker 16 (01:09:08):
Yeah, hey, you'r or bit of your pretty much anything
that all of us around the Sun or around a planet,
or well generally around the Sun and the galaxy can
be trapped. And I would tell you the time that
it takes to go from point A to point bion
(01:09:29):
back to point A.
Speaker 2 (01:09:31):
Well look, look, Dave, thinking about it from my physics background,
knowing the location of an object and the direction it's
traveling and how fast it's traveling, you probably don't even
don't need to know the weight of it. You could
work in the n plot its orbit from there. It's
quite straightforward. It's just Newtonian physics because you can work
out what's going to happen. You know that, you know
(01:09:53):
the mass of the Sun and the gravitational pull there,
so it's probably really straightforward. I like it, Thank you, Dave.
By the way, just on the topic of pies, when
I was in Wellington three weeks ago and I'd walked
from Pottidor to Wellington and that was a great walk
(01:10:14):
down the Old North Road. Mike Marcus, welcome. How are
you ten out of ten?
Speaker 12 (01:10:25):
How are you?
Speaker 5 (01:10:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
Very good?
Speaker 20 (01:10:26):
Thank you, good evening. Hey am the pies. I believe
they're from Kai Pies, which is won Aca based. Really yeah,
I k A I and the pies is p A
I S.
Speaker 2 (01:10:40):
How would you know that?
Speaker 20 (01:10:42):
I have a dear friend that works lives in Rakaia
and works for them, she's ripped for them.
Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
Okay, so the night and Day pies are from Wonca.
Speaker 20 (01:10:53):
That's what I believe.
Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
Yes, well, fact check that one, Mike. I appreciate that,
thank you so anyway, and then I had to go
catch a plane. That's back to my Wellington story. From
the airport and I caught the train in from Tawa
and I had tunnel hunger vision and I was walking
(01:11:14):
along past where the protesters were outside Parliament. Yeah, and
then I walked past Parliament and along that road there
I think it's called Lampton Key, and there was a
pie shop and it was selling vegetarian pies but they
(01:11:38):
had names like Minsen's and I got slightly hang about.
I can't work out what those pies were, if they
were vegetarian, or quite what they were. But there were
people and they looked like quite a happening spot. And
I bought a pie. I think it was mince and cheese.
It was absolutely delicious. It might have been the nicest
(01:12:01):
pie I've ever had googling it all up and reading
it because it was unbelievable. I don't know how they
did what was made out. It wasn't too concealed. It
was a mince and cheese pie, but cheap as it
was good anyway, The mystery has been sold. They are,
in fact kaipies from Jarnaca. They're the ones that Night
(01:12:22):
and Day sell because I've never thought they haven't got
any cooking facilities in their places. There you go, that's
the three dollar pies. Marcus. Where are those two dollars
fifty pies in Napier? Will find out, Marcus. The Night
and Pies and kaipies I've read nothing. Minton Lambs delist.
They're three dollars every Tuesday in October at Night and
(01:12:44):
Day they made in Warnaka. There you go, three dollars
every Tuesday. I love how people know this sort of stuff, Marcus.
The Night and Day pies are definitely kai pies. I
ordered one once from a local Night and Day. There
was a sharp piece of bone that could have cut
(01:13:05):
my mouth. It was like a toothboke and I complain.
They're very good about it. The over arching Night and
Day franchise business apologize and sent a voucher and business
themselves at the local one replaced it, but they told
me they were contracting their supplies. It is taking over
the country. The Night and Day. Do you know those
they're like dairies that are franchise dairies. I think they
(01:13:28):
started down south now I see there's one on Funk today.
They're everywhere. They've got a very good jingle, You've got
it when you want it at your Night and Day store.
Night and Day it's genius. They come back with Night
and Day at the end. A lot of rumors about
(01:13:51):
the navy and what happened to the ship. I won't
propagate those because I've got no proof of them whatsoever,
but thank you for those people setting it through to
(01:14:14):
thank you for those rumors. But yeah, I won't read
them out because they're probably libelous. By the way, don't
think its anything wrong with Night I think they're a
fairly good operation. Night and Day, good staff. What I
like when sometimes I go to Night and Day store
on the way home, because in Vacago's blessed with daiies
open twenty four hours and a lot of people are
(01:14:36):
at the dairy at one in the morning, a half
past twelve in the morning. I think it's because one
of the freezing workershifts finishes there. You know, there's sort
of people you meet in the daies are hap past
twelve people in Uddi's people looking shit. You're never quite
sure what's going on in the dairy at hap past twelve.
But they've got self checkout. No, I don't know if
(01:14:58):
that's a new thing, but to me, self checkout is
unbelievable out of dairy because you know, I might just
want a bounty bar or I don't know what I'm
getting there, actually a bounty bar or a I don't
know what I'll begin there right, Yes, swizzing through you go. Yeah,
(01:15:21):
car pies. That's good name for a pie, I suppose. Wow.
Here's an interesting article in the New Zealand Listener. Could
AI replace the radio DJ Jeepers? Well, I've discussed that
a little bit and I wonder I wouldn't think so,
But anyway, get in touch. My name is Marcushadl twelve
(01:15:44):
o'clock The Night and Day Pies? Where do they come from?
Three dollar pies? Would that be the cheapest? The man
in the bush at Mutter Cooper three dollar pies cheaper
than pet food just saying the box of frozen party
pies from All was really quite nice and big. You
get eight in a box, Marcus. Those pies have ever
(01:16:07):
had ashby Yella Pino and beef Chicks with cheese. I'm
from Willington and they have the best. But now and
all can this pie has been addicted. It's thirteen dollars.
I have one every day. Wow, it's like ninety one
dollars a week on pies. Welcome. My name is Marcus
(01:16:29):
Hidt twelve o'clock Marcus Linz Pies and Co. Call he
make awesome pies. A bag of ten pies the local
supermarke cost eleven dollars frozen and that's Lin's pies frozen
are they? My favorite pie is from the teetokey store
Manga Kahio Tetoki. They do a yummy pork and watercress
pie with any price. Jacks. Let's reappraise the topics of
(01:16:53):
the America's Couple. You get up and by the watching
that first to seven Best of fourteen, First of seven,
First to seven Best of thirteen, also discussing the comet
which comes down next week and how they know its orbit,
and the cheapest pies in the country. Marcus Night and
(01:17:14):
Day a mess if they claim to be the third
largest grocer and he's in and after supermarkets have a
Graaler Night and Day opened and only lasted six months
before it closed. Wow, Bushan, AT's Marcus. Welcome and good evening.
Speaker 11 (01:17:30):
Good evening, Marcus. How are you doing very good?
Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
Thank you, Bishan You're good?
Speaker 11 (01:17:34):
Yeah, yeah, great. Hey. I just thought you might find
it interesting that there's there's a game called Karen and
it sort of originated in the Indian subcontinent and it's
today played across in probably thirty thirty five countries, and
(01:17:57):
there's going to be a World Cup in November in
the USA, California, where New Zealand is sending a team
for the first time.
Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
Well, I've got questions for you, Beauchamp, because I've seen
videos quite often the King of Karen and things like that.
Is the board is the board like an air hockey
table or is it just a really smooth marble board.
Speaker 11 (01:18:22):
Actually, that King Karum is not the Karen that I'm
talking about. The charm that I'm talking about is a
different material, behaves differently, and they call they called coins
that the disc that move on that and they don't
move silly crazy like they do on the King Karm.
Speaker 2 (01:18:43):
Okay, okay, but it's the same kind of thing. It's
a bit like billiards or snooker, but with pucks on
a wooden board.
Speaker 11 (01:18:49):
Is it it's a wooden board and you play with
a raisin. You call it a striker, which is a
bigger risk than the coins that are black and white.
And there's there's a red one which is called queen,
and every every side plays one tala but you also
(01:19:09):
have to pocket the queen to win the game.
Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
It looks like it's really good value because it looks
quite portable as well. It looks like a great game.
Speaker 11 (01:19:19):
It is very portable, doesn't cost a fortune, and especially
you know if you're inbound, like you know, you can't
go out because of whether or something. It's a really
nice sport, like nice game to indulgence.
Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
So are you telling me that you are the New
Zealand RAP.
Speaker 11 (01:19:37):
I am part of a group that is forming incorporated
society New Zealand Caramel Association, right, And we actually had
a tournament. We've been having tournaments last couple of years
where between twenty twenty five people have been participating and
(01:19:58):
they are placed it on Swiss League format and I
was one of the winners at with the doubles and
we had some winners in the and so we're sending
a team of four people cause bone by everybody themselves.
But yeah, we're setting a team of four people eleven
(01:20:18):
to seventeen South November.
Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
Alright, so you're going, I'm going yeah, And I imagine
that will be covered on a YouTube channel. Would I
be right with that? The games, the matches will be covered.
Speaker 11 (01:20:30):
They will be the finals and the semi finals sort
would be covered on YouTube they are they always are
and on Facebook as well.
Speaker 2 (01:20:42):
And the defending champions, I hope would be India to.
Speaker 11 (01:20:46):
Yes, India, defending championes India. There are other countries that
play really well. So there's Sri Lankan team usually quite strong.
There's Maldive's team that is also supposed to be good,
and U there are European teams that are really good
and upcoming. And I know because one of our team,
(01:21:08):
one of our team members has played World Cup on
behalf of uh Poland, so he was he was living
in Poland, so he was part of the team from
Poland and he has played it.
Speaker 2 (01:21:22):
So fascinating.
Speaker 11 (01:21:26):
Yeah, So there's a europe Cup that happens, There's you know,
other other continental cups that happened. And and there's this
World Cups I think every two years.
Speaker 2 (01:21:37):
Oh, I can't wait to hear more of it. And
in New Zealand, when people play, is it normally people's
houses or at cafes or where where is it? Where's
the mynection? For Karen At.
Speaker 11 (01:21:49):
The moment, it is hosted by my my team member
at his home. But we are we're all hosting. So okay,
I played at homes and conducted practications. We were actually
planning like an invitation, the long playing sessions that will
(01:22:12):
happen at World Cup. There'll be four days of continuous playing.
So just to just to get into that.
Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
Okay, Look, I appreciate if you keep us in touch
with that Bush because I'm very excited about that now
to be representing his enage. You need a name featuring black.
What are you calling yourself? Let's that's excellent. You've got
a uniform we have now, Oh God, ill keep us
(01:22:45):
in touch. That's exciting for me. I'm really excited about that. So, Karen, Karen,
thanks excellent. Wow, got to Facebook open Karen Club to
read about them. Thanks Dan, Rebecca, ats, Marcus and are
welcome to you?
Speaker 15 (01:22:59):
Hi?
Speaker 16 (01:22:59):
How are you good.
Speaker 2 (01:23:00):
Thank you, Rebecca.
Speaker 21 (01:23:03):
Dicky B told me you were wondering who does the
kaipi sorry, night and day piles.
Speaker 2 (01:23:07):
That's right, that's right. That's a crap, that's a strange.
But so they're all from won Oca, is that right?
That's where they make them.
Speaker 21 (01:23:19):
Yep, Jason Deans instead of them even twelve years ago
now and worked from a small bakery in Queenstown and
then they expanded and it's a fantastic family owned business.
It's won so many awards and yeah, so where was it?
Speaker 2 (01:23:34):
Where was a small bakery in Queenstown.
Speaker 21 (01:23:37):
Just on the main street. I think Shotover straight, it's
still the bakery, but it's now we've moved it all
over to Wanaka.
Speaker 2 (01:23:47):
Wow.
Speaker 17 (01:23:48):
So yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
So I mean if you're doing all night and day pies,
I mean you must have ramped up the production really big.
Speaker 21 (01:23:56):
Oh absolutely, we're throughout the South Island and all the
food stuff supermarkets. Yeah, but nationwide for night and days,
so you get them hot there throughout to reduce to
clears in the North Island and distributors and yes, you
reduced to clears on the big ones throughout New Zealand.
And you're all food stuff food markets, because.
Speaker 2 (01:24:17):
I don't know, reduced reduced to clear did pies because
it because it's obviously stuff that's reduced to clear. But
with the pies, it doesn't has reduced to clear change
the emission a bit, have they?
Speaker 21 (01:24:28):
No, Look, they just want a good product.
Speaker 2 (01:24:30):
Yeah, yeah, that's why I had to clarify that. Okay,
So how many pies are you doing a week? You
must be doing like fifty thousand or something.
Speaker 18 (01:24:40):
No, we do.
Speaker 21 (01:24:41):
We can do up to twenty thousand a day.
Speaker 16 (01:24:43):
Wow.
Speaker 21 (01:24:44):
Yeah, so we're pumping out we rebrand for like Gilmore's
Savories and Good Food Savories yep. So yeah, we're the
top top ones out there. So we do really really well.
Speaker 14 (01:24:55):
So what one.
Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
Would keep you there? Because I presume the Advertoirese aren't
there for all your meat and stuff that would have
to come in, wouldn't it.
Speaker 21 (01:25:02):
Yeah, everything comes and everything shipped out nationwide from there.
But it's just a brilliant place and with being family owned,
they live in the area and yeah, they've just taken
up as much leans as they can and they've got
what in a freezer space to three hundred pellets. So yeah,
but we pump it out pretty them fast too, and there'll.
Speaker 2 (01:25:22):
Be quite a few staff there now, would there.
Speaker 21 (01:25:25):
Well, we've got I think fifty to sixty now, but
there's a few few of us that work from home.
But all the working staff they're amazing, a lot of
Filipinos as well. They always smile, have smiles in their
faces and.
Speaker 18 (01:25:36):
They work good.
Speaker 2 (01:25:38):
But you'd be one of one of biggest food manufactures,
wouldn't if you're putting out that many. I mean what
you say, twenty thousand a day.
Speaker 21 (01:25:44):
Yep, we pump out truck clothes.
Speaker 2 (01:25:46):
Wow.
Speaker 21 (01:25:47):
Oh that the muffins and doughnuts for night and day
as well. So yeah, we just keep expending.
Speaker 2 (01:25:54):
So it's not just a pie thing. It's a big
bakery that's there, is that right?
Speaker 16 (01:25:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 21 (01:25:58):
Yeah, but it's primarily the pies.
Speaker 2 (01:26:01):
But yeah, it's all over best flavor.
Speaker 21 (01:26:04):
Donuts, muffins now fast flavor or we just want to
gold another gold this year. So we've got mince and cheese,
but chicken, leak and bacon. We've got pork belly, venison,
rosemary lemon, mint's like Kiwi roast and er pie and
all your stock standards. We've got seventeen different flavors. We
had to call a few.
Speaker 2 (01:26:23):
It takes to take suggestions. I haven't got one, but
I suppose there's always people coming up with pie and
pie suggestions, aren't there. Yeah, we do.
Speaker 21 (01:26:31):
We do special flavors every now and then full night
and day. We've done an amazing Wagoo beef one and
we do a Jilipino one soon. So we don't usually
do new flavors on request, but we do special things
to night and day.
Speaker 2 (01:26:48):
Really nice to hear from Rebecca. Thank you so much
to call. It's been good tonight. We've got everyone that matters.
We've got the guy that's the head PI and the
Mary Copa case. We've got the hit, We've got New
Zealand's champion coron player. We've got the woman in charge
of the pies at night and day from Kai Pies Up.
What's going to be next, Megan Markle's gonna call get
(01:27:11):
in touch Marcus till twelve Marcus. It's a really good game.
A man from Shrilank introduced me to the game in London.
I bought the game over with me. Yes, well, I've
just gone and seen the Facebook page from the Auckland
Caroom Society, Karam Society, Auckland Karum Club and look, someone
let me know. I'm just trying to work out where
(01:27:32):
they are playing it. But it looks like a Scout
hall and they've got a lot of lamps. You have
a lamp over your table, and there must be forty
people in that room. It's a great thing for it,
the Scout all all the bedges and stuff on the walls.
It's a great photo. It's a fantastic photo. Might get
(01:27:57):
that for the kids. Actually, they're like a board game.
Karum Off to the World Cup San Francisco, Bay Area,
CALIFORNI your USA. The what are they called the blacks?
The all the black strikers. Brilliant, that's what you want
(01:28:17):
to call yourself. There is some discussion about the Twoe's billboard,
but I mean I think the Twoe's billboarders say drink
Twey's beer a year, right, I mean they gave up
on the brewery just made with every other ber. Now
there's anything special about it. So I think the ship's
(01:28:40):
passed with that one. You know, they're just court in controversy.
In my the pronunciation Pombo Marcus welcome.
Speaker 10 (01:28:55):
Marcus are sort of just bring up and have a
bit of a carry on make talking about pies in it.
Speaker 5 (01:29:00):
Yeah, we're just cruising in their house.
Speaker 10 (01:29:03):
Once we've come from.
Speaker 2 (01:29:04):
Wellington, were easing too.
Speaker 10 (01:29:08):
We're heading to the Hawk's Favor. We stopped off and
raise some lamb flaps ten dollars the slow cooking in
the oven and the house bus while we're driving.
Speaker 2 (01:29:19):
Beautiful sounds delicious, I'll tell you beautiful. Now where'd you
get your lamb flaps?
Speaker 10 (01:29:28):
Eminem Butchery and Cardy Coast?
Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
Okay, seems hell of a deal.
Speaker 10 (01:29:33):
Normally it's a bit of a scrap cut, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:29:36):
Seems like a fairly good deal. Now, how do you
keep cooking in your house truck where you're traveling? Have
you got buns? Well, how does that work?
Speaker 10 (01:29:44):
Well, we've got a little pot belly and also we've
got a little best oven.
Speaker 12 (01:29:49):
Yeah, but we're just sitting there on low and and
we're just my wife.
Speaker 20 (01:29:53):
My wife was cruising up Andy.
Speaker 12 (01:29:57):
If you could, if you could smell it.
Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
And it stays on, It stays on the pot belly. Well,
it's not going to move around as you're on the road.
It's it's not going to alover. How do you stop
it from spilling.
Speaker 10 (01:30:09):
Now we've got it in the guests oven, but we've
got little wrecked.
Speaker 2 (01:30:12):
In it, so it stops it from must just saying
when will you eat it?
Speaker 10 (01:30:19):
I just stopped the nubble before, but I'm just going
to stop at.
Speaker 3 (01:30:23):
And some Frish breed.
Speaker 2 (01:30:25):
And we're spinning the night.
Speaker 5 (01:30:28):
Uh, well, we'll see what we get.
Speaker 10 (01:30:30):
We'll probably get to maybe geining vehicle something or just
rung up and nice.
Speaker 2 (01:30:35):
And where are you going to base yourself? Are you
based anywhere? You're going to base yourself up there? When
you keep moving?
Speaker 10 (01:30:42):
Well, I used to live up there, and we're just
going love to see some friends and family and and
well we'll just around and with one patriot.
Speaker 2 (01:30:50):
Really nice to hear from you. Thank you for calling.
Love that Good evening, Janet, It's Marcus.
Speaker 22 (01:30:55):
Welcome, Good evening, Marcus. A while ago you discussed the
Bear Brothers being the only three brothers hi to the
All Blacks.
Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
Did I?
Speaker 9 (01:31:10):
Yes, you did.
Speaker 22 (01:31:12):
I remember it, and I've never forgotten that. And I'd
just like to remind you you are wrong because there
was three other brothers that played to the All Blets
back in the sixties. Brian going Sid going and Keen going. Okay,
that was the days when Dave Loveridge was playing and
(01:31:32):
Graham Murray was captain, bout Betty was playing.
Speaker 2 (01:31:37):
Who were they Brian said? And who else?
Speaker 22 (01:31:40):
Brian going, Sid going and King going.
Speaker 2 (01:31:47):
I don't remember saying that though, but that's fine.
Speaker 22 (01:31:50):
No you did, Yes, you did, because I listened to
it one night and I've been meaning to ring and
tell you that you were wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:31:59):
So I said, I said, there's only ever one set
of three brothers played for the All Blacks.
Speaker 22 (01:32:05):
Yeah, the bear Boys.
Speaker 2 (01:32:10):
I means. It's something i'd say because I don't know
that much about rugby or players.
Speaker 15 (01:32:16):
But you.
Speaker 22 (01:32:18):
Did because you mentioned. I listened to you every night
and and you mentioned it on the radio, and I've
been meaning to ring and tell you.
Speaker 2 (01:32:26):
Did I say, only one set of three brothers have
ever played?
Speaker 18 (01:32:30):
Yes?
Speaker 7 (01:32:35):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (01:32:42):
So who were the Which were the goings?
Speaker 22 (01:32:45):
Brian going, Kim going and said.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
Going, Brian ken? And were they all brothers? There was
one a cousin.
Speaker 22 (01:32:59):
They're all brothers?
Speaker 2 (01:33:02):
Goodness?
Speaker 7 (01:33:08):
Really?
Speaker 22 (01:33:10):
Yes? Because I have.
Speaker 2 (01:33:13):
Always I don't know if Brian was an All Black?
Speaker 22 (01:33:17):
Yes he was, Yes, he was.
Speaker 2 (01:33:22):
Okay, when did he play for them?
Speaker 18 (01:33:24):
In the sixties.
Speaker 22 (01:33:27):
You sure, Yes, Graham Murray was the captain and Dave
Loves was playing, Betty was playing.
Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
You sure it wasn't just he said, Moldy that he
played for Brian.
Speaker 22 (01:33:39):
No, he played for the All Blacks.
Speaker 2 (01:33:43):
M he's not on the All Blacks players list.
Speaker 22 (01:33:55):
Well, he did play for them because I used to
listen to them when they played as brothers on the field.
Speaker 2 (01:34:03):
Okay, I wonder what we'll do about that.
Speaker 22 (01:34:11):
Well, I'm just telling you, correcting you, that's all. It's
all I wanted to ring about sitting ken.
Speaker 2 (01:34:19):
Are all Blacks? Brian's not an All Black?
Speaker 18 (01:34:22):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:34:22):
He was not?
Speaker 22 (01:34:25):
Well, he was because I remember him playing according to.
Speaker 2 (01:34:29):
Not according to all Blacks dot Com. I mean, what
are we going to take as the are we going
to what are we going to take as the authoritative
thing about the All Blacks?
Speaker 22 (01:34:39):
Because I saw him playing with them?
Speaker 2 (01:34:41):
But but but what about all Blacks dot Com? Should
that know what's happening?
Speaker 22 (01:34:46):
Well, they all make mistakes because I saw him playing
on the field. I used to watch it on TV
TV with my father. Used to get up and watch
it at six o'clock early hours.
Speaker 2 (01:34:59):
Warner, But no one's memory is foolproof, including mine, clearly.
Speaker 22 (01:35:05):
Well, I don't forget things when I see things.
Speaker 2 (01:35:11):
Really, Yes, have you never forgotten anything?
Speaker 16 (01:35:17):
No?
Speaker 11 (01:35:18):
Not when?
Speaker 16 (01:35:18):
Not?
Speaker 22 (01:35:18):
Not when I remember something like that?
Speaker 3 (01:35:20):
No, I do not.
Speaker 2 (01:35:23):
Do you remember what match they were playing?
Speaker 22 (01:35:26):
It was an All Blacks match back in the sixties.
I don't remember the exact date, but I remember getting
up watching watching rugby with my father. When my father
was alive, Him and I used to get up in
the mid early hours of the morning to watch them play.
Speaker 2 (01:35:41):
And who were they playing?
Speaker 22 (01:35:44):
Well, they were obviously playing. I'm not sure who they
were playing, but I know that they were playing as
brothers because they used to do this movement called the
going scissors.
Speaker 2 (01:35:57):
Okay, someone's texted through, says Brian going Mouldy All Black
and North Auckland.
Speaker 22 (01:36:07):
Well, I saw him play for the All Brecks with
my dad. My dad was alive, he would confirm.
Speaker 2 (01:36:13):
It with me, but he's not, so maybe that maybe
you misremembered it.
Speaker 22 (01:36:23):
No I did not. Okay, Okay, thank you, goodbye.
Speaker 2 (01:36:34):
I apologize if you think of deceived you jeeps. Steve
Marcus welcome.
Speaker 17 (01:36:41):
Hey Marcus. Just a quick correction. I lived in Kychel here,
and I knew the going family because Sid was the
bishop of the Mormon Church in Murraw Markey. Now, Brian
wasn't an all black. All three of them played for
North Auckland, and yet the Scissis move they're very famous
for it. But no, Brian wasn't an all black. I
(01:37:03):
know the family.
Speaker 2 (01:37:06):
Nice here. The town mentioned Mada Mirkey, is that where
it is south of Calehee.
Speaker 17 (01:37:12):
Murra Marky. Yeah, it's sort of halfway between col here
and well I suppose Fang today, I suppose. But these
all little settlement, all three of you. But yeah, no,
it's we said was the bishop of the Mormon church
because my family.
Speaker 2 (01:37:29):
Or movements brilliant, Okay, yep, I appreciate that. Thank you, Steve.
Nice to hear from you. Michael, it's Marcus welcome.
Speaker 20 (01:37:37):
Hey Marcus.
Speaker 23 (01:37:38):
I'm thinking that you're probably going to be going home
with your tail between your lyrics. Oh my goodness me.
Speaker 11 (01:37:44):
That was the right telling off.
Speaker 19 (01:37:45):
Wasn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:37:46):
Well, well I didn't feel told off. I'd never saw anyway,
But there we go, yes, bless her.
Speaker 23 (01:37:54):
Yeah, A few things to talk about. The person is
the personal that told you about the Aurora rather North
Cannery region. It wasn't thet for the text because I
can't see anything. I'm driving through this the North Henery region.
Speaker 2 (01:38:12):
No, it was all happening an hour ago. It's gone now.
It was quite quick and it's gone. So you've missed
the boat there. I'm for because you're gonna be quite sudden,
I think with the Aurora. Okay, flaming Hicks, all right,
it's on. It's beacon now, Cakari Lagoon, Dunedin is looking good?
Timur who's looking good about? That was earlier? So you
(01:38:34):
are you try traveling north or south? And that was
at nine fifty eight. You see people? Okay, now you
might have missed it.
Speaker 23 (01:38:45):
Oh never mind, old just I'll look out again tomorrow night.
Your pies? What's wrong with the good? A good or
pottom pie or something like that.
Speaker 11 (01:38:59):
Remember the guy.
Speaker 23 (01:39:00):
There's a guy on the West coast, wasn't it from
the Bushman season? He used to basically sell these pies
and he got in trouble with the but so what
he used to do was that the pies were free,
but he used to charge the people four dollars for
a plate. Yeah, to put the pie on.
Speaker 2 (01:39:22):
It was the it was the bush It was the
West Coast bushman scene to That's right, isn't it?
Speaker 16 (01:39:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 23 (01:39:29):
And they had three types of pies they had they
had to guess that mess.
Speaker 11 (01:39:34):
That was one of their pies, what was it?
Speaker 23 (01:39:36):
And then guess that mess well? And then they also
had roadside Surprise And the biggest seller.
Speaker 15 (01:39:49):
Was guess that mess?
Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
How come your recall so good?
Speaker 5 (01:39:55):
Well?
Speaker 23 (01:39:55):
Because I was ani driver and we used to go.
Speaker 2 (01:39:59):
Of course you were were you on the back? Were
you on the were you on the back? Handed? You
get a free pie? If you took people there? Would you?
Speaker 23 (01:40:07):
These lads are skinned and somebody would suit me at night?
Speaker 6 (01:40:10):
You know?
Speaker 12 (01:40:10):
Sort of.
Speaker 2 (01:40:15):
Are you still to a driver?
Speaker 6 (01:40:18):
No?
Speaker 23 (01:40:19):
No, that came away sort of I'm on the old
milk eggers.
Speaker 2 (01:40:22):
Now, oh yeah you allowed? Are you allowed to reverse?
Speaker 22 (01:40:28):
Hell?
Speaker 5 (01:40:29):
Yes?
Speaker 9 (01:40:29):
Okay, oh yeah the reverse.
Speaker 23 (01:40:34):
A few times I've been talking to make or something
on the phone and sort of next thing, I've been
a few seat of simply going down the phone and
you would say, oh, you've missed the you've missed your
doing of you? I think I think I can back up.
Speaker 11 (01:40:49):
Down the road.
Speaker 2 (01:40:50):
How many case do I you? You with Frontier Yeah,
how many k's would you do in a shift?
Speaker 23 (01:40:58):
All depends where we're off. Wey, it depends. But on
these the truck I'm in, uh we go twenty four
to seven, but nine months of the year of the
year and it would put on t thousand twenty four hours.
Speaker 2 (01:41:15):
Ye, it's big stuff. Okay, nice to hear from you, Michael,
Thank you for that time. For one more if you
want to come through people who've been good to me tonight,
I've been enjoyed the vast variety of topics and things
and things. Good luck winning an argument with Herbert for
(01:41:35):
a start, Graham Murray and Dave Loveridge whenever All Blacks
in the sixties. Yeah, I thought that was a bit wrong.
Someone said, what about George, Luke and Sam white Lot.
Speaker 7 (01:41:50):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:41:50):
That's something. Also George, Sam and Luke White Loot became
the first trio of Blood Brothers to play for the
All Blacks. There you go, Marcus, you are too confrontive
and disbelieving. When a caller is sure and it's possible
(01:42:13):

the better for that's just wrong, she'll return tomorrow. Enjoy
