Stuck in the car with Steve

Stuck in the car with Steve

After years of musing, thinking, dreaming, and exploring I’ve ended up with a head full of thoughts, questions, ideas, and philosophy that might be of interest to others. On a solo road-trip from North QLD to Victoria and back again, I took the opportunity to record an exploration of some of the things that bounce around in my head and underpin the work that I do. This is what you get when you’re stuck in a car with me. BYO snacks! The episodes were released in the order they were recorded, so although each episode explores a separate idea, and it is not essential to listen to them in order they DO follow a line of thought, as it were, from start to finish. There are callbacks and references to prior episodes throughout all of it and what I personally thought was a really satisfying conclusion to it all. Up to you how you listen to it! *** Important Disclaimer *** These thoughts are in no way fact-checked or reference cited. None of this should be taken as advice, inspiration, or truth. This podcast is purely for entertainment purposes only. The musings of a lonely person at the wheel after too many coffees and too many days on the road should NEVER be taken seriously.

This isn't an episode, just a song that I recorded one time when I was bored. It ended up becoming a really meaningful song for me, and I've used it in shows and all sorts of things. I thought it deserved to be up here just for good measure.

In this final episode of the series, many of the ideas explored come together somewhat synergistically, to offer something of a moment of clarity. When I started recording these explorations of my own ideas I thought it would be a simple re-treading of my own well-explored philosophical musings, but this final day of driving and recording offered me a new way of combining these thoughts and a reinvigorated approach to my thoughts a...

As a father with a daughter, I've spent more time in the last five years questioning the idea of the patriarchy than ever before. I never thought it was a good idea, but there's so many more layers to it now that I'm trying to raise a strong, healthy young woman.

Sexual dimorphism is the condition where sexes of the same species exhibit different morphological characteristics. They don't always present as directly related to reproduction but often influence reproductive selection or behaviour in some way. What might the differences between the sexes teach us about ourselves?

Another introspective personal ramble, this time musing over my internal philosophy, and how it has changed over time.

This one is a little long, and rambly, and personal, but that seems to be well within the wheelhouse for a discussion about the idea of love and what it can mean to a person. There's no answers here, of course, only questions and a bit of personal reflection.

It's a complicated one, this one. The core idea here is one of polarizing complicated issues and believing they can be solved with simple solutions, but this short rant runs through a mess of complicated issues to look at it.
