Hi friends. Let me introduce myself, this podcast and my goal. Welcome to the deeper dive with Ford Sanders. This is a space for exploration fact finding and hopefully justice for victims of cases with no true closure. For almost the last decade, I’ve been reporting independently for major tv networks and on social media. Journalism to me is community, snooping and getting the answers we need. From more than a dozen deaths in Austin’s ladybird lake in the last two years to gun wielding maniacs going on a murder rampage stretching from San Antonio to Austin. I’ve been right there on the scene for every single one. So sit back and put your thinking cap on because together it’s time we take a deeper dive.

In this episode, I discuss the case of 33-year-old Jonathan Honey. Honey was visiting Austin, TX for a bachelor trip. He and his friends were having a night out on Rainey Street. Not long after the night was nearing its end, Honey told his friends he wanted to go get food. He wasn't seen by them again until his body was pulled from the lake 15 hours later.

Martin died in 2018 and his body was recovered from Lady Bird Lake. In this episode, Whitney explains the scams her family went through with people pretending to have Martin and more. In this episode, I sit down with Whitney Gutierrez. Whitney is the sister in law of Martin Gutierrez. 25-year-old Martin was found dead in Lady Bird Lake in November of 2018. Whitney shares more about who Martin really was and his character so we can work to memorialize some of these victims beyond being just that: a victim.
