the big names coming back for free, oh, and why
some people might be boycotting the NRL this weekend.

Speaking of big we took your calls on your Big Three,
the top three favorite films of all time.

Speaker 5 (00:26):
Clerzy had a memorable walk this week.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
There got Loose Ann in the show report an update
on the world's Richest cat.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Let's talk sport with Adrian Barratt.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
When you've got to get work here, you've got to
get into work Clobber. Their eight trade stores are everywhere,
so when you need it you can get it or
check out Worklobber dot com dot ATU.

Speaker 5 (00:46):
Week in Perth for a sport Barrow.

Speaker 6 (00:49):
Yeah, it's funny the AFL's left town. Gather around my friends,
We'll head to Adelaide. But yeah, big week in per
two because the NRL circus has hit town. So I've
got four teams here which is on tomorrow up to stadium,
hoping for a big crowd there. And then at the
w A Athletics Stadium it's been the national Championships and

(01:10):
of course Gout Gout has been there and it's it's
like a rock star whatever the equivalent is in athletics.
You know, he's the Usain Bolt of Australian sport at
the moment.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Just rocks up.

Speaker 6 (01:23):
The kids loving, they're all getting selfies and it's just
down at Mount Clermont there he's run two one hundred
meter races and he's broken ten seconds both times, which.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Is just unbelieved. The window system just amazing. It is.

Speaker 6 (01:38):
It is like seeing Usain Bolt when he was a kid.
You know, we're lucky to get down there. And he's
so excited, mate, Bruce. The first the first heat he
ran under ten.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
So Bruce's.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
Yeah, makes you passionate about.

Speaker 6 (01:55):
There's a vision of him in the box standing up.
He's any beautiful, beautiful, it's extraordinary run.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
I haven't seen it excited since Kathy Freeman and Michael
Johnson America.

Speaker 6 (02:08):
Yeah, yeah, he's so good. And this is how Bruce
saw the final So the finals on last night about
six forty seven, and the joint was pumping. If there's
a roof on the stadium would have blown Offee Bruce.

Speaker 7 (02:22):
Now co out starts to stretch away, and stretch away
he does, and he's done it.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
He's broken the ten seconds again. Look for the wind,
Look for the wind.

Speaker 7 (02:33):
Too big again?

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Can you believe it?

Speaker 4 (02:36):
It's too big again?

Speaker 1 (02:38):
But the time was there.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
He didn't get in the flying start, but he rolled along.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
And twice in the space of three.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Hours he's gone inside ten Secondsly.

Speaker 5 (02:50):
Do Bruce, come on, none of us are as young
as we used to be. You need to keep it.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
He is a great man.

Speaker 6 (03:01):
We've also got a great West Australian runner now Perth
college girl.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
She'd be on her way to school now.

Speaker 6 (03:06):
Leah O'Brien's I think she's doing year twelve at the moment.
She won the underage one hundred meters. She ran eleven
point one four if you don't mind, and she broke
a record as this lease that has been held since
nineteen sixty eighth oh By at the Mexico City Olympics.
So well done to Leah O'Brien. I've done so much

(03:30):
to talk about, so AFL gathered around. We better get
into it. The Eagles have made a huge statement. They've
dropped two senior players, Tim Kelly, which is a strange one,
and also Tom Cole. Of course Tim Kelly, he's I
looked at his stats. He's still first in clearances at
the Eagles, first in goal assists, second in contested possessions,
third in disposals, fourth in tackles.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
So he's not going that bad.

Speaker 6 (03:52):
But obviously body language plus revealing he's fallen out of
love with footy. Probably wasn't said that preseason. Yeah, it
wasn't any his body language just doesn't. It's a bit
like that movie Liar Liar, you know with Jim Carey
out Lie when he gets it, when he gets out
of the lift and he goes.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
It was.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
It wasn't like that.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
He'd left something behind. So yeah, hot girl and the pit.
Yeah in the pen, remember of the pen.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
It's and it's blue past. Anyway, if you haven't seen
the movie, google it up. His defensive side of Tim's game.
Probably at the moment Tom Cole dropped. He's a premiership
player from twenty eighteen, so the coach getting serious. Poor
old Oscar Allen hasn't scored it go one two weeks,
so he probably needs to live as well.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
So many Macwalter's chance to make his first statement at
the club.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
That's it. That's exactly what he's done every week, a lot.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
Of statements until he makes it. Everyone's a chance.

Speaker 6 (04:55):
Now the Dockers rolled the dice. They should win. Of
course they're playing Richmond. They're in the bross Have you
see how to look at the oval? Lease looks magnificent.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
Well it's in the Barossa.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
What's that called that area?

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Because I know, but just having a sip. Yeah, but
it isn't the brand new stadium is.

Speaker 6 (05:12):
The ground looks spectacular, but I'm sort of getting fomo
or whatever that word is.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:19):
So they rolled the dice and Sean Darcy. They play
on Sunday against Richmond. The dilemma is if dars only
plays half a game, you can pat voss ruck for
half a game.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Well last week he was in the rack, but he
was just waiting for the taller play English to knock
it down.

Speaker 6 (05:33):
And so that's why I think Liam Red he might
actually play they too, Ruckman, so just to be technical
for one second. But our man's back to Hayden Young,
which is great. He'll make such a difference. And Sam
Switkowski we forget about him. He's a super player. He's
like almost an all Australian player. But say Dudley Sweater
or Murphy Reid go out, you know, yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Hearing all about Murphy Reid all the time. Yeah last
week Yeah.

Speaker 6 (06:03):
And Duds he's been no mug as well, so h
and they got warned off Les about the Tigers about
playing Noah Bolter, so you've heard about him.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
So he got in a big.

Speaker 6 (06:14):
Blue at outside of nightclub and he got charged with
assault and he got a four week suspension from his club,
but he actually got he pleaded guilty to assault chargers.
So he's just waiting to be sentenced. So his four
weeks are up from his club so he could technically play.
But next week he gets sentenced and he could actually
go to jail.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
The video of that, the vision hit.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
From my opinion on those, the vision.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Is hideous protecting his brother as an argument over a
pizza and he just came out and King hit the dude.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
The Victorian Premier just sent to Alan. She came out,
she said was sickening vision, sickening attack. What sort of
message are we sending you the kids if you let
him play?

Speaker 3 (06:51):
And the Tigers did the right thing.

Speaker 6 (06:53):
They went, ah, yeah, he's right, he ain't playing, so
they didn't.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
They didn't let him play.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
For four weeks though, I mean, oh yeah, but probably
should not let him play until such points as this
is sorted out by the courts.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Yes, and well that's actually what spens.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
That really should take precedents. It's really for the court to.

Speaker 6 (07:09):
Rule, not for your club, correct Monday, and that is
exactly what they've decided in the public opinion just got
on top of them.

Speaker 5 (07:17):
So yeah, recreational for people playing along the time.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Yeah, they spent a lot of money on the facility.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
It looks amazing.

Speaker 6 (07:26):
And apparently the beers over there are called pots midi,
a pot please midi or a point.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
I don't know, I think so, I mean, yeah, pint midi. Oh,
I can't remember. I spend long time since I've worked.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
In a bar.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
What do they call what did we work out? They
called devon over there.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Orlony we call it poloni.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
They call it something else as well.

Speaker 5 (07:46):
Run through your tips for us.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Yes, I will after I'm gonna have some frits after this.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
Some frits.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
They called Devon over there, and they don't say lego.
They say lego.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
They do say lego. Yeah, yeahs yeah, they're the only
ones that do that.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Yeah. Yeah, it's not like a resort.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
I don't know what that's about.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Yeah, I just can't start laughing, marri Lego. Right, so.

Speaker 6 (08:10):
Last night the Cats beat the Crows in that, so
they spoiled the party. Actually it was a big party
that going on. And then the Cat's going beautifully. I'll
just give you the quick tip. So I think Sydney
will beat Collingwood because the Pie's have got injuries. That's
a toss up. The Suns should beat North Melbourne. Carlton
should beat the West Coast Eagles, which is on at
eleven twenty tomorrow if you want to catch that. Brisbane

(08:31):
beats the Bulldogs, Melbourne beats Essen and then on Sunday
Freemantle beats Richmond at ten thirty five. That game is
and then you can go down to the Athletic Stadium
and watch gout out And is Nina Kennedy jumping and
yeah yeah, and the other fast runner GWS beating Saint
Kilda and the big finish Port Adelaide and Hawthorne. It's
like a grudge match from last year in the finals.

(08:52):
They had a big slinging match in Yeah, but the
coach Ken Hinckley and Ye Ginevan and James Keith. Yeah,
so I don't know who wins that one tossed the coin. NRL.
There's a double header in perse so one thirty tomorrow
at Optu Stadium. There's two games back to back Cronulla
and Manly, then South Sydney versus North Queensland. Forty six

(09:14):
thousand attended last year. Local fans are discussing boycott because
the NRL hasn't come to the party and allowed us
to have a new team and it's trying to screw
us and you know get from the Yeah, they're just
trying to blackmail us and ambushes.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
It's not going to help the couse.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Yeah, right on the game.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
But surely they bought their tickets by now, you can
think so. But the Bears group, the Western Bears supporter
group called the Cave.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
I would have gone the.

Speaker 5 (09:45):
Woods, yeah, because it doesn't do it in the Cave.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Bear in the Woods exactly.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
We all know that.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Does the bear does the bear in the.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
Woods, of course it does called the Catholic the.

Speaker 6 (10:00):
To boris You're good, always run in there. He's good anyway,
So I'll be I'll be going along to that. I
think it's going to be terrific. And I had I
had to mention to you guys, Tim McMillan this week.
Tim gets excited so passionate arsenal. He's seen the guns
they beat the Madrid in the Champions League. Made he

(10:22):
was walking around with his phone showing replays of the
two goals from Declan Rice.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Show.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Show you yes, her around the office with his shirt off,
like Network.

Speaker 6 (10:33):
He's a good he's a good looking man, so you
kind of like him coming over and talking to you
about he's gone man on arsenal. So check out Declan
Rice's goal is incredible. Three three Niel they were and
I and I'd be better straighten up for one secon.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Mate, Sean King.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
I can't believe this news, is it?

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Varlet Barlet.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
Kingy West Perth Man.

Speaker 6 (10:55):
Played with him at the Eagles, but he played at
West Perth and East Perth Beautiful Manlo.

Speaker 5 (11:00):
Players in football families lately.

Speaker 6 (11:04):
Sixty Bar famously played only one game for the Eagles,
and there was a funny story I'll just tell about
him down in lawn when we went for a swim
when we were over there for a game and he
couldn't swim, and Laurie Kane thought he was cheating in
the swimming races and he pushed him under, but he
was actually just trying to trying.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
To be saved.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
He thought he thought he was trying to tread.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
He actually nearly.

Speaker 6 (11:26):
Drowned, so the physio had to jump in off the
rocks and save Sean King. He was a beautiful man
and he didn't get bear a grudge or anything. He
just said that's that's life and fantastic guy. So to
his family and all his friends and his loved ones
down here laid leaves best man at her wedding. We
salute Sean King, a beautiful fellow.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Thanks, good on you guys, have a great week and.

Speaker 6 (11:57):
More Clezya more podcast.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
I've been thinking about something ever since we talked about
Ed Sheeran yesterday being on that Call Her Daddy podcast,
not just how to say the podcast, whether it's call
her Daddy or call her Daddy, she needs a Lift,
And Ed revealed his top three films and they were
Good Fellas, Cool Runnings, Ed Sheeron, Cool Runnings, and Love Actually.

(12:27):
And I was thinking, how hard is it to narrow
down your top three, your top three films? And I
want to ask you if you're able to do it
question without notice?

Speaker 5 (12:39):
It might be hard.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
I was trying to narrow down mine I came up with,
and I mean, you know they can change because you've
got to exclude all the classic comedies that I love,
Life of Brian and TOLLI Grail.

Speaker 5 (12:53):
Take some of those out, I reckon.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
My top three films are In the Name of the
Father with Daniel day Lewis Cinema Paradiso.

Speaker 5 (13:04):
Could you ever see that?

Speaker 4 (13:05):
It was a an Italian film set in a small
Sicilian town about the relationship between a little boy and
the aging projectionist. The most beautiful film and maybe my
favorite film of all time, is Bagdad Cafe, which is
an English language West German film set at a truck
stop in the Mohaf Desert in the US. It is

(13:27):
and it's got the most. It came out in nineteen
eighty eight and it has the cast of the most
bizarre characters, including Jack palandz. And it's where this song
came from.

Speaker 5 (13:42):
Oh god, it gives me chools.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
It's my favorite song from a movie ever. And in
Lady that's a woman called Javetta Steele. And in Lady is.

Speaker 5 (13:55):
Kate Sobrano coming.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
Oh yessolutely beautiful job.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
And I've got chills just from listening to that one
tiny little bit of that song.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Yeah, what about you?

Speaker 5 (14:07):
Top three?

Speaker 1 (14:08):
So hard because I've got eighteen top threes.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
Okay, depend on your mood.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
If I'm in the right, am I creep? If I
say blue velvets in there? Because I love.

Speaker 5 (14:18):
Happy about that?

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Don't look at it. It's good, so damn good. I
have to go by movies that I can't resist watching
till the end, and I have to. I have to
say every time, every time Share Shank comes on, I
have to watch the you know, it's just such a poet.
Am I allowed to have a drawer from my third one?
It's It's two de Nero's It's Casino and Heat because

(14:46):
because I love those movies so much, we could be
there all day. There you've started a little avalanche.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Oh yes, we're talking about trying to narrow down our
top three films, got a bunch of texts already. Tim
in Rockingham says, the Empire strikes back and terminated too well,
that seat Sea's very hard. Oh and sure Shank, Sure Shank, Redemption.
There's the three. Paul says top Gun and he's given

(15:16):
us songs Paul Movies. We got another caller that said Twister,
Sure Shank and Cool Runnings.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
How many people's top three list? One?

Speaker 4 (15:26):
Which is because we we started this after Ed Sheeran
talked about his top three and Cool Runnings was in
his top three. I said, my top three are in
the name of the Father cinema parody. So in Bagdad Cafe,
you said sure, did you say?

Speaker 1 (15:39):
You said yeah?

Speaker 5 (15:41):
I said Blue Velvet, Blue Velvet and Heat Slash Casino.

Speaker 8 (15:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
I went to Bobby Niners.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
Anthony says Silence of the Lambs Legend with Tom Hardy
and wedding Crashes Kerry and Eglinton says Shirley Valentine Love
Actually and Eat Pray Love Shirley Valentine, Hello, Wall what
a great movies, Absolutely fantastic and I've seen it on
stage several times too. With Amanda very very very good,

(16:07):
Graham says, Highlander, the Highlander, you know, the original Shawshank,
which is coming up so often, Shawshank, Redemption and Hax
saw Ridge.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Yeah, so many beauties. Let's go to Elkamas morning.

Speaker 8 (16:20):
Gary.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
What are your top three?

Speaker 8 (16:24):
I'll go in reverse order. You've mentioned one third would
be Highland of the original, Yeah, second one at the
Shining Oh yeah. And the top one of all time
was Once Upon a Time in America James Wood.

Speaker 5 (16:40):
That's a great movie.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
I want to combo those two were.

Speaker 8 (16:43):
Yeah, yeah, film, but yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
I don't think I've ever seen a DeNiro movie I
didn't love.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
I love a great Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
Yeah, he made a couple later, and he's made a
couple later.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
But yeah, be honest, I haven't seen the Apparently Highland
is getting remade with Henry Cavell.

Speaker 5 (17:12):
I don't know about that a good choice.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
I don't know how I feel about Highlander getting remade,
and I need Highlander to be remade.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
You know, everything's getting remade. Make your own land, everything
but my bed getting remade. It's not good.

Speaker 5 (17:25):
But no, I can't make my pets in it.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Well, it is three in the morning to.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
Nick from Alexander Heights says Scarface, number one to the Godfather,
and three the Pope of Greenwich.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
Villet some interesting choices.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
Interesting Jenny and Busselton says Forrest Gump, red Dog in
the Castle, all good choices, Jen very good, and Julian
Basewater says Greece, Sound of Music and Wizard of Oz.

Speaker 5 (17:49):
Well, I'm not going to get in the argument from
me on those three.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Are three faves, A few good.

Speaker 7 (18:01):
Men, yeares color purple and seven years in debate.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
I still never have seen seven years into bed, Brad Peter,
isn't it.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
It's called a combo.

Speaker 5 (18:13):
I should get myself in there. I think we get
a lot of tech.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Absolutely gone on.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
Donald in Carama says number one Fried Green Tomatoes, number
two Matrix and number three Ai Vince and Stratton says
Taxi Driver, Green Mile and Django unshanged. Now, there are
two films that I can tell you are coming up.

Speaker 5 (18:40):
A lot in people's lists of three.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
One is The Shawshank Redemption and the other is Highlander,
another one with an amazing give you a Goosebump song.
It is a great movie, and I've just been informed
that they are Rema making it with Henry Cavill which
I'm not there, you're not reading up for it.

Speaker 5 (19:04):
Remade Christopher Lambert in a lot.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
Of classic stuff, don't they great soundtrack on.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
Craigan Serpentine says, convoy and running on empty.

Speaker 5 (19:16):
Bit of a bit of a car theme there, Craig.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
Surprise the Blues Brother wasn't in there with Jays.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
Carolyn in Greenwood's Top three, I love actually Devil's Advocate
and Sweet September, she said, love.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Carolyn. Don't we all very popular? Man?

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (19:34):
And going out with an age appropriate. Actually, I think
his girlfriend's a little bit older time.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
I believe she is. Yes, and we keep saying, keep
seeing all that phrase ver him online. It's just a constant.

Speaker 5 (19:44):
I love him well and truly he just seems so nice.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
He's got to get the dinner.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
How are you going?

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Very well?

Speaker 4 (19:54):
Top three Donner, The Gooneyes, Okay, The account Yes, yeah,
and we are the Miller's.

Speaker 6 (20:05):
Now.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
You know there's the second sequel to The Accountant coming
out soon.

Speaker 7 (20:09):
Author Yeah, yeah, but I loved that movie.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
Mind a bit of Ben Affleck, especially from earlier, especially
especially in the Accountant.

Speaker 7 (20:24):
He was good, all right, thanks, thank you.

Speaker 5 (20:30):
No, it's not but people are doing.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Yeah, they'll probably give you a bit of short it.

Speaker 5 (20:34):
Would be harder. Anita in Mount Helena, what do you
got for us?

Speaker 7 (20:41):
It was a difficult one, but my third choice is
Red Dog, always a sucker for animals. Yes, the Green
Mile has sentimental value. Yes, and my favorite one, very
old one with Jenny Moore, the Seventh Sign.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Yeah yeah, but if it's your favorite, yeah.

Speaker 7 (21:03):
Yeah, yeah, I could watch it any day. It really
pulls at the heart and makes you wonder.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:09):
Thanks Anita, Bye.

Speaker 7 (21:12):
Thanks by Ruth.

Ash from Merroua, along with The Breakfast Club, Ripper and
Shutter Island, is another vote for Shawshank redemption. I reckon
if we were to, you know, count up all the
movies if it was a poll, if it was a poll,
Thank you Clazie for saying what I was so ineloquently
trying to say. Shaw Shank redemption would be the generalized

(21:52):
most popular.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Film at the top of the right now. And it's
also a subject where later in the day, like at
one o'clock you'll be doing something and go, oh, I

People seem to be saying Breakfast Club more than son Elmo's.
They seem to There's something about.

Speaker 5 (23:37):
I do prefer the breakfast I.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
Love, but there's something about the Breakfast Club and those
characters and that things locked away like that. People related
to the big time.

Speaker 4 (23:47):

Thank you.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
Mores more podcast soon.

Speaker 5 (25:10):
Richard Roxbrough is in the studio with us. Good morning now.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
We were welcome you to the studio because you're in
town to talk about The Correspondent, which is in cinemas
on Thursday. The Correspondent is based on the incredible true
story from a bit over ten years ago now of
Peter Grestor, the journalist who was imprisoned in Egypt, and
you play Peter. Yes, so what can you what can

(25:37):
you tell us about Well, about the.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Film, it's a I mean, it's incredible, it's a it's
it's an amazing It was the most amazing story when
it when it first happened, I can remember vividly just
thinking what the hell is going on? Yeah, So it
was kind of respected known correspondent, dragged off the streets
in charge with terrorism and then imprisoned and sentenced to
seven years and so it always just it was GOB's

(26:04):
making that nobody seemed to be able to do anything
about it. So it's this kind of kaff caresque nightmare.
But the story itself, so the film kind of focuses
on his relationship, these amazing sort of pockets of relationships
that he had in prison and the kind of wonderful
weirdness of those, Yeah, as well as the you know,
the various unfolding attempts to spring him out, and it's

(26:27):
done with the lightness of touch. There's moments of great levity.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
It's actually really beautiful. It's beautiful work.

Speaker 4 (26:33):
One of my memories of that the whole time was
the involvement of his parents too. They were very involved,
which was you know, I mean it spoke to his character,
you know, just the way he was raised.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Yeah, very passionate. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
They were actually in the audience in Brisbane three nights ago.
They were almost mobbed superstars. Yeah, yeah, they really were.
So they featured in the film as well. It's yeah,
it's really moving Richard.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
In your job, your craft, you have to try and
find yourself emotions and things you can relate to to
perform and do things. But you've never been dragged out
of a hotel room and arrested and charged in jail
for seven years. How do you go about that? That's
I've got a pass.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
No, look, you know, it's obviously the act the actor's
job is it sort of is the act of imagining
and the act of kind of trying to go there empathetically.
It was a strange shoot. It was a really hard shoot.
We had a fabulous director. I kind of isolated myself
for one of a better expression. We were filming in

(27:46):
awful little places like a kind of deercommission what used
to be called the mental Asylum in Balmain, and so
they're really sort of not very cheerful places, which actually
helped to for me to kind of get where I
needed to get to. Yeah, because it's obviously, you know,
it's a very emotional piece as well, and we had

(28:08):
Peter to I always had Peter in my pocket who
I could message, you know, how did you feel in
this moment and so on, So so that was great
having his support as well.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
Yeah, you have you have great form in playing real
people real well.

Speaker 5 (28:26):
If I may fam for a moment.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
Blue Murder is to this day the best Australian television
that's ever been made. Your portrayalers Roger the Dodger was incredible.
Cley was talking about talk before, when when it's a
true story, do you feel extra pressure as an actor
to you know, to do it the the justice that

(28:50):
it needs.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Look you do, there's there's obviously a strange additional pressure
when in somebody, especially somebody who's very much in the
public eye, whether it's Hawk or Rogers and who were
both kind of you know, very much in the public imagination.
I mean people you know a way to could show

(29:11):
you his hawky when you order your dinner and they so,
so that brings additional difficulties. In this particular instance, playing Peter,
we in early discussions with the director it became clear
we didn't well, I didn't want to do an active
imitation because it doesn't it didn't serve any particular purpose.

(29:32):
I don't particularly look like Peter, and so there were
elements of his character that were useful to bring in.
He has a real kind of he's quietly spoken, he's
always the most rational, calm person in the room, and
so there were really useful elements, but all of the
exterior stuff was was kind of pretty pretty irrelevant.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
You must see stories like this as an actor, the stories,
not just this story, but many stories as they're evolving
there in it. Because this was very much in the news,
as we've mentioned, and see id like a crack at
that it must have been that many of those over
the years.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
I guess there have been this one I would never
have imagined. I mean, I suppose because I don't you know,
I don't think nobody would have thought, well, this actor
looks a lot like Peter grest So it was a
surprise when the script arrived to be honest and like
all actors, the first thing I thought is why.

Speaker 3 (30:32):
Would they choose me?

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Surely there's somebody better could who could do this role.
So and once you get through that and start having
conversations with the director, who who I have enormous respect for,
he's a he's a great creative lateral thinker. Because a
film story is a really difficult story to tell because

(30:54):
you're stuck inside closed spaces. But his sound design and
he's cut the way cut. It's that he's managed to
make it really suspenseful.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
It's quite quite brilliant.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
He directed Red Dog. Did I mean, what did you
do with that?

Speaker 6 (31:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (31:11):
Incredible. You mentioned Peter was in your pocket. Did he
have much to do with it? Did he ever go?

Speaker 5 (31:17):
No, no, don't do it like.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
That with your face. If you do, stop doing that thing, well,
you've got too much hair. No, look, he stayed. He
stated a respectful distance. He was actually on set only
on one day, okay, and he sidled up to me
at one point and he said.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
Is this really weird having me here?

Speaker 2 (31:44):
I said, no, mate, Look, it's actually fine because I'm
not trying to mimic you, so I don't feel self
conscious in that sense at all. I'm just trying to
explore as empathetically as I can where it took you to.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
Yeah, okay, I'd love to know how you feel when
you see the trailer for the first time and then
you see the actual finished film for the first time,
and how that makes it feel. Because this is a
brilliant trailer.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
It makes me feel like throwing up.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Horrific. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Look, you know, my wife is always like, send me
the link. So I'll send a link and I'll say,
you know, I'll say to her, I got a link
to the film. I'm not watching it, and she'll go, okay,
just send it to me. I'll watch I'll watch it,
so she reports back.

Speaker 4 (32:31):
The Correspondence is in cinemas on Thursday. Richard plays the
journalist Peter Gresta in that incredible story about when he
was arrested and jailed on terrorism charges in Egypt.

Speaker 5 (32:42):
Now I would be remissive me not to.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
Ask is there any charts that we could ever see
some more rake?

Speaker 5 (32:49):
Or is he well and truly done? Because I want to,
you know, drag something out that doesn't.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
No, you don't want to squeeze the absolute life out
of it. I guess my feeling is I loved it
so much and sometimes to keep trying to squeeze something
is a shame. No one wants you to no, no,
but I do. I miss I miss him, I missed

(33:19):
the experience, and I miss that company act.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
It's like going back.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
It's a very unusual thing in an actor's life to
go back every year into this kind of family environment.
So I really miss that with those with those brilliant people.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
Now it was a great character, so so damn good
and your body of work. Now we will ask you, Pepper,
you with questions about all kinds of things. But have
you I wanted to know, have you ever been to
a super and ova or a comic con? Having played
Count Dracula and that van Helsing and seeing those those
fans of sci fi and fantasy are so rabid, you've
experienced that?

Speaker 3 (33:50):
Yeah, I did.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
I love it. Yes, they do come a costume for you.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
They did.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
Yeah, no, we did.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
We did one of those in San Diego one time,
and I did one in Sydney as well one.

Speaker 5 (34:03):
Time san Diego.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
That's the gone off, Yes.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
It went, it went right off, right in my face.
I was it's a shock to the system. But God
bless them, they just love it so much.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
They really love that. The hell out of that stuff.

Speaker 1 (34:20):
They all come tos stuff. I went to one with
my son last year and they were there. Yeah. John
Jarrett was going, look at this.

Speaker 7 (34:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
Yeah, Yeah, it's a whole sort of parallel universe of
that that fandom stuff. But but you got to say,
I mean, they's just they just love it. I have
a fourteen year old boy who was so into he
can tell you every single element of the Marvel universe. Yeah, yeah,
that you never wanted to know about it, of course,

(34:47):
but he's act passionate.

Speaker 4 (34:52):
I just have to say, we've got a lot of
things being made in Wa at the moment. I don't
know if you've noticed, We're very popular for filming stuff,
and we've got new film studios opening next year, so
we hope that you might come and take advantage of
our beautiful light, our beautiful locations.

Speaker 5 (35:08):
You're welcome at any time.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
I adore shooting over here. There was a there was
a really happy space of four years where I shot
four separate films.

Speaker 5 (35:19):
Okay, all right, so you're familiar.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
Yeah, all in the most beautiful little pockets down south
into one in Denmark, one in Albany, one in Bustleton.
I mean, it was just a privilege to be to
spend time in those pretty Yeah, it was pretty good
office to work every morning.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
Yeah, congratulations mate, you're a first guest in the studio
who's been early all year. So well done.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
Yeah, it is unprecedented in my life.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
So I have to thank a really crack publicity again
for that.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
There's on your stuff.

Speaker 4 (35:57):
Well, the Correspondent is in cinemas on Thursday.

Speaker 5 (36:00):
It looks fantastic.

Speaker 4 (36:01):
Richard Roxworth's been an absolute pleasure to have you in
our studio.

Speaker 5 (36:04):
Thanks for coming.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
In, absolute pleasure to be here.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
Enjoy your break here.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
The Sure Report on ninety six AIRM.

Speaker 4 (36:14):
When I die, I want to come back as Carl
Lagefeld's cat. Following the designer Carl Lagerfeld's death in twenty
nineteen his beloved berman. I haven't Dexter's a Berman, but
his beloved berman Schupette is still living large after he
made arrangements for her in his will. Now it is
rumored that he left her a massive chunk, if not all,

(36:37):
of his three hundred million dollars. Wow, she was left
millions and millions. So his housekeeper has just given an
exclusive interview to Hello magazine, sharing details about the world's
most pampered puss. Schupette lives with the housekeeper who doubles
as the cat's secretary. She has an impressive modeling career.
You see Schupette, not the house now Schipett, only it's

(36:59):
from cific porcelain bowls that were selected by Lagafeld. She
sleeps on a pile of designer clothes that were probably
also selected by Lagafeld. She has a Louis Vuitton bag
that she uses for travel, which she does by private jet.
She gets regularly brushed, but if she's not in the mood,
she'll let the housekeeper know with a growl.

Speaker 5 (37:19):
But she's not a snob.

Speaker 4 (37:21):
Shupet happily shares her home and all the spoils with
a rescue cat.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Oh cute.

Speaker 4 (37:28):
Tom Hiddleston is set to reprise his role of Loki
in Avengers Doomsday, in his return to the Marvel Cinematic
Universe the MCU, as they call it. Hiddleston has played
Loki since twenty eleven's Thoor. He is reprised the role
a good seven or so times in other Marvel films.
His last appearance in film as Loki was in twenty

(37:49):
twenty three's Aunt Man in the Wasp.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
Other actors YEP.

Speaker 4 (37:52):
Other actors confirmed for Avengers Doomsday include Chris Hamsworth, Paul Rudd,
and Florence Pukee. It's set for release in May next year.
And next year the UK is going to launch a
version of Saturday Night Live. No cast members have been
announced yet, but longtime SNL executive producer Lord Michaels is
going to oversee the UK edition, So it's going to

(38:14):
be it's going to follow the exact same format, right.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
Live from London from London Saturday Night.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
Look forward to that.

Speaker 4 (38:25):
I've been much better. They've got much funnier comedians in
the UK than.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
Done, many of them to choose from as well. But
I mentioned if it had anywhere near the run that
the US version has.

Speaker 5 (38:33):
Had well, that's been going since nineteen seventy five.

Speaker 1 (38:36):
At least. We got out of work early yesterday, which
is a bit of a gift. Yeah, a lot of
people can't get out in such a beautiful morning yesterday,
and we've had a few of those lately. And the
other morning woke up and I said for a walk,
like just let's just go for a stroll. So the
place we went for a walk to south of our place,
so between South Beach is sort of where we are
and Cougie Beach, both very popular spots, is a place

(38:56):
called Port Cougie, which is this beautiful spots. It a big,
beauty new homes all new, got the marina there, so
you've got lots of boats worth more than our homes
put together, cafes, restaurants, so, got a dome and a wall.
He's there as well, but they've got this warp path
you can go all the way around. It is just
on a beautiful morning, it's just stunning, and especially when
it's not too windy, because you did a lot of

(39:17):
those sea breezes later in the day when it blows out.
So we go for a walk and we've got friends
Sue and Charlie live down there. But as we're walking out,
I said, wouldn't it be funny if we bumped into
them on the walk. So we must have been walking
for about another ninety seconds.

Speaker 5 (39:32):
Hello, soon, Hello, Charlie.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
Absolutely right. So Sue's got this amazing head of long,
curly hair, right, so she's like Nick Knatt. You can
see her, but it was just a silhouette. You can
pick it. And I reckon. I saw from eighty meters
away on the other side of the road, behind the car,
about four or five inches of Sue's harow, Wait guess what?
And Murray went nah, nah, Sure enough we got perthed

(39:54):
there they were, so we stopped and have a bit
of a chat. So it was good to catch up.
But you know, just a glimpse of the hair, you
knew who it was. She be the last person you
pick if you're going to do hold someone up, hold
up a bank or something, because I know who it
was straight away just from there, so we say good
out of them. We took it for about ten minutes.
We keep walking and when you head to this part
just around the corner from where we were, near the Marana,

(40:15):
you get to a place called Narkele Beach. It's really
sweet little beach where it's like a smaller version of
that one at Hillary's where people take their kids from
a swim. So we get a knuckle beach. And at
the barbecue area there was a family, like a big
family gathering there and they were under cover and they
they're having a great time, you could tell. And we
walked down I've got a coffee walk the way back
and I could hear some music play. I turn around

(40:35):
and this family, the whole family were dancing to a song.
They've got Kenny Loggins turned up to eleven and Mum
and the daughter and the auntie and the sister and
the nana are all doing what I'm calling the cougie
line dance to Kenny Loger. It was actually really quite so.
This was like ten nine thirty in the morning. They

(40:55):
were doing the coogie line dance to Ken. Now Nana
was tripping over, just a little bit cap ful of
Yournana when she's dancing, but it's just really sweet to
see her family, no laughing. I'm having a great time.
