Speaker 1 (00:02):
Now with Correos the podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Well, I think I'm going to be a lone voice
standing on the hill that I'm going to die on
because everyone seems in here. And I don't just mean
Corey and Kip, I mean our producers Ali, although Ellie,
I think Ali is the one that started it. So
Ali told me a couple of weeks ago, for anyone
that doesn't know, my three sons live in a sharehouse
in Baden. They're twenty five, twenty three, and twenty one,
(00:28):
and I have been trying to kind of give them
ideas to stand on their own two feet, which they do.
They pay their own bills and I have nothing to
do with that, but I'm trying. I was trying to
find some ways of being them being able to treat
their partners and do fun things. And Ali suggested, have
you tried group.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
On right now? Do you know what groupon is?
Speaker 3 (00:47):
I do?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Okay, Corey, do you know what group on is?
Speaker 4 (00:50):
Was it those things that used to be in the newspapers.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Kind of it's the online version of that, Yeah, where
basically restaurants or cinemas or holidays people put in deals
into the group on and then you download and you
can take advantage of things on the cheap. And so
I started to look at this and I showed my
partner Olivia across the weekend and he went, let's do
(01:14):
some Yeah. So we decided that once a month we're
going to go to a group on restaurant and try
things that we haven't tried before.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
And that's the whole point of them, right, It's people
that haven't tried a place and they might be struggling
to get people in, and they go, well, we'll put
on a deal and we'll get people in the doors
and then they'll come back.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
And we went last night to a place called Catch
and Co, which is across the road from the Dutton
Park Cemetery and I would never have stopped there, not ever,
but as I drove past, I recognized it and we
got this seafood platter with a bottle of wine and
a dessert for ninety nine bucks.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
It's pretty good, so bad, and it.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Was great food, hot and cold, and I came in
here so stoked this morning that we just had the
best time.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
That's good, and everyone piled on well.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
I think Todd was the first one to mention.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Proue Dods had that sounds a little bit embarrassing. Imagine
rocking up point on, Robin, here's the little bouncher.
Speaker 6 (02:13):
So embarrassing, embarrassing, and now that you you are wrecking,
we've got billboards, Robin, I've got to wear forwards around.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
I've used it before, but then I've had to I can't.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
I can't do it. I can't.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
It's embarrassing, embarrassing to support a local business who's offering
a deal to get you in the door. Why is
I don't understand why saving money is embarrassing?
Speaker 5 (02:34):
What about like if the waiters like, oh, hey are
you Robin Bailey?
Speaker 7 (02:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:47):
You would never you would? Would you? Cory?
Speaker 4 (02:49):
If taken advertise that up?
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Off you go?
Speaker 4 (02:51):
You I ain't gonna.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Be tell me why you're why that just sounds so
ego centric with al due respects, like why aren't you
supporting local business?
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Support? That's real support. Who's the idiot?
Speaker 2 (03:08):
You've got an opportunity to get a group on. The
one I'm not sure about is there's this amazing deal
going to Thailand and Cambodia, and obviously I think it's
a tour and they're trying to fill up the tour
bus like it makes sense.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
I mean, it doesn't work for.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Our holidays, but I just I cannot get my head around.
Maybe it's because i'm you know, third generation single moms,
where like money.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Was pretty tight. But that's not the reason why I
do it.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Is a return flight, I'm pretty scared.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Check the fine check the fine print.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
I'd use it for that. I would use it for
a holiday for sure.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
So what's the difference between a holiday?
Speaker 3 (03:43):
And you've got to give it to the person.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
You've got to give it to the waiter.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Everyone, you're fixing.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
The whole restaurant seeing you.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
People that last night had group on. That's well, yeah,
the guy was so happy to see us.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
That's the thing, because you've got one, you got around together.
These guys got.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Okay, what is wrong with a group on? Please someone?
Speaker 8 (04:08):
Five?
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Oh my god, can you explain it to Robin?
Speaker 7 (04:10):
Please?
Speaker 9 (04:11):
Someone help.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
The way I see it.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
And I'm with a guy who used to own restaurants
and that he used to do deals like this because
it's introducing your business to new people.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
It's a great idea. And I will go back to
that seafood restaurant in Dutton.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Park and and payful price. Okay, yeah, that.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
Receipt.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
If it's dollars, I know you've printed out another one. Maddie,
what do you reckon?
Speaker 9 (04:48):
I think I'm fully with you, Robin, and I think
the boys are going to get over their egos, because well,
what is wrong with how do you think the rich
become rich by doing things.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Like it's just started?
Speaker 9 (05:01):
Secondly, that's not even how groupon works. You don't go
in there and go, hey, I've got a group on.
Here's my vouch you book in prior to that? Have
I already noticed?
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Well, okay, maybe they've changed a few years ago when
I used what I had to say as you sat down,
you had to tell it actually had down the bottom.
You must tell the weight stuff that you have a
group on. It's like they embarrass you right at the start,
or they all fell.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
But this is what I don't understand. Why is it embarrassing?
Coupons are embarrassing? I don't know. It's always it's a thing, Maddie.
Why is it embarrassing? I don't get it. It's not
someone someone must.
Speaker 9 (05:38):
Clearly just need to work on us. Someone else must
get it.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Thirty one O six fives our number some Taylor Swift
it's me the problem.
Speaker 6 (05:48):
Maybe it's building. It's giving me anxiety, don't it's Robin
and Kip now Coreyo, it's on KS ninety seven to three.
The year of using a group on or a scoop
on or wherever app you're using to get a discount
gives me anxiety.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
And I know that you're fine with it, Robin, I'm.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Proud of it. Yeah, and you are getting nailed on
our text line four oh nine nine seven nine seven three. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
You guys are being told that you've got two big egos,
that they're all on my side. In fact, okay, are
you going to tell me I'm on the group on app?
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Right now?
Speaker 2 (06:23):
There is Pouquette Pepe Island and Krabbi in Thailand eleven
days with return flights, fairy transfers and more from nine
hundred and ninety nine dollars.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
I would totally use that, all right, Gee.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
Holiday different.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
It's different booking a holiday because you don't see your person,
No one knows that you've got a deal.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
It's fine. What does it matter that you've got a deal.
Do you not shop during sale time?
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Of course I do, but it's different.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
I don't have to.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
It's it's the pulling out of the thing.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Actually, Ali, our boss was just telling us because she
goes with with Diggers that they use her husband that partner. Sorry,
they use it all the time. Now what does he
do when you pull out the group on? So I
go in first and present the group on arrival as.
Speaker 7 (07:04):
Per teas and c's and he fusses with the baby
outside so he doesn't have to go through the embarrassment.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
You know, you just it's I don't know why.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
I just don't want to end.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
Look, I'm the same.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
I don't know why. Like it's even when we go shopping,
like if there's a discount on, I'm happy with that discount.
Just give me that discount, whereas I can't stand the
teams like Nana give me more off? How much more
can you do?
Speaker 1 (07:30):
She'd be great bartering.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
I might taking. I don't want to any more.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Tina of champ Side West do what do you reckon
about groupons and those kind of saving apps?
Speaker 7 (07:39):
I am team group on all the way to go, Robin,
I actually used to go to a seafood place that
often using a group on, and no I had no
shame and they actually told me to stop using the
group on and just to go in and they'll give
me the discount anyway.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Wow, okay, oh that's interesting. I don't mind that because
that's the other thing that you will I will say
about the restaurants themselves, they only get half the money.
Group on actually gets half, so they're actually better off
you just paying even at the discount and price.
Speaker 7 (08:07):
Yeah, they're probably sick of giving me the discount virus.
Speaker 6 (08:11):
At least they're getting the form out.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
And someone said on a text line, get the app
first table. You get fifty percent off all food?
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Is that because you go early? I think the first
time about five o'clock.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
Yes, I'll just eat way too much.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Then I just have a second dinner.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Just out stand of peatree. What do you reckon about groupons.
Speaker 8 (08:31):
And the like?
Speaker 9 (08:33):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (08:33):
I love it. There's a great story from about five
six years ago when I had a little baby and
a single income, and I had booked my wife at
a haircut. She hadn't had a haircut for ages during pregnant,
and so I wanted a treat her but couldn't afford it.
Came across this, I think it was like fifty percent
off deal somewhere in Newstead, so I actually got the voucher.
I phoned them up. I booked her in under her name,
took her there and it was an awes beautiful place.
(08:55):
She had bubbly, she had her hair done, cut and styled.
I went picked up a cup hours later, paid for it,
and then driving home I told her that I put
it under a group on and those who was really
really grateful. She had an amazing haircut with the champagne.
She was Actually, she goes, oh, I would have been
so embarrassed if you had turned up with a group
on powers. She could never put herself because the other
ladies in there were paintful.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
Price.
Speaker 8 (09:17):
She was grateful. She was grateful, but she was like, I.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Was so embarrassed, you know, Yeah, you had to sneak it.
Speaker 8 (09:25):
I couldn't afford how ridiculous price it was, and I
thought that six percent off it was like took off
the afternoon.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Perfect smart.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Okay, thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Ben.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
You're giving me an idea.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
You too, have a challenge between now and when we come.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Back from holidays.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
You both need to download a group on and go
and use it.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Both of you.
Speaker 9 (09:48):
Come on.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
If you can you can.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
I will do it just to see you do. This
is the challenge.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Get taken it.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
What about if.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Taking taking downline? I can't do that.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Get taken to do it. I'll get now.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
I'm to do it.
Speaker 9 (10:10):
It will be fun for.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
Those I'll just take cash and full.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
You're throwing money on the floor as you leave.
