put the smile on my face that I have right now.
Hbo on in front of me. Aaron Rodgers giving thumbs up,
Jets players making plays getting set for episode two of
Hard Knocks. My Carmen, I'm just ready to roll.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Did they get any of the incompletions? Or the ankle
injury from today in did they set in?
Speaker 1 (01:14):
He's fine, so don't put stuff out there. That's not true.
It was true that he.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Was slipping around, he was having issues and then he
was didn'tstin and erratic.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Did he miss the play? He didn't. He didn't miss
a play. He didn't miss a play in practice. It's fine.
Everything is fine. Yes, his calf, Oh, he lit a
little bit. Guess what he didn't miss a snap? Stop
putting stuff out there the other calf. Stop putting stuff
out there.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Man, he's gonna end up needing calf replacements.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Man, well, I will cut your cat because you have
pretty good calves. I will cut your calves out while
you sleep and give it to him if I need to.
I just don't think I want.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
I dream the other night before I went out to
Joshua Tree and was hanging out him, like, you know,
what if the worst happens, and you know, you get
uh racked up by a coyote and all he did
was rip off my calves would take a lot of
my eye anyway.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Are you sure that that was a dream you had
before he went out there? You're sure?
Speaker 3 (02:07):
No, it was before And then when I was out
there then, and then I heard him howling, and it
sounded like they were triangulating and planning an attack.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Problematic, man, the Harry howling around your kitchen door. You
better not let him in. Mike Harmon got mutilated late
last night. Fear is a terrible thing. And dwarf and
rush though. Let me tell you, baby, let's go. Yeah,
hard Knocks Tuesday. Lots of greatness across the sporting landscape.
(02:38):
I'm one round closer to the to get another fantasy
draft being done here in mid August. All these great things.
It's such a beautiful day. Oh man, Well, we'll have
more on hard knocks coming up in a few minutes, because, hey,
the Jets activated Bresalt today. Suddenly they have the best
running back room in the NFL. I told you last.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Morn they just wasted seven.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
They took a negative and they turned it into a positive.
They took their biggest weakness and turned into one of
their biggest strengths, the biggest strengths in the league. You
tell me one team that wouldn't trade their running back
room for the Jets running back room right now. Valin
Cook Bristoll, Yeah, you get me. Those guys.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Let me see, ye, I'm I'm feeling all right if
I'm Pittsburgh, all right, Now, come on, guys, true, I mean,
come on, naj harr.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Is gonna lose his job with Jalen Warren any day.
It's gonna happen anything.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yeah, but you got both of them, so you're feeling
that is true. You do have both, So you're feeling
pretty good there. I mean, the Ravens just seem to
find a new guy to step up at any moment.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Yeah, but they fall short. These are all guys that
are just guys.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
But is that because the receiver stink and the play
calling got predictable? Jets don't have and they couldn't hit,
you know, big plays when they needed to.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
We don't have guys a steak. We got great receivers.
You got guys.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
You're talking about the past. I need to see it.
TI day.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Everything is wonderful, Everything is happening, Everything is awesome. It's
like having the Lego piece of resistance. It's having it's
having you.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
You're just sody, another happy Tuesday. It's almost like you're
eating a couple of sandwiches as we speak.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
I really hope that they get the they get the
Dalvin Cook thing into the end of this one. I
don't know if he goes because they're they're opening up
with Oz the Magician and the Mentalist appearing at that
Jets camp and all the big video that made the
rounds today that you saw of him doing all these tricks.
Kind of like a new age David Blaine. He's doing
all these things at Jets Like. It's opening up with
a big version of that. But I hope at the
(04:37):
end we get a little bit of a hey, oh,
by the way, we got Dalvin Cook. Hey did he.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Get cursed out by any of these guys? Like remember
that time David Blaine was trying to do some trick
with Harrison Ford and he cursed him and called him
like a devil and told him to get out of
his house.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
I don't think that happened. Although the Jets have control
over that, they would say, we don't want kicking that
guy out on We didn't even have that.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
We now run hit an exorcist.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
But look the other big football story of the DEMI
clear look the Jets are page one. The Michael or
blind Side situation just continues to get crazier and crazier.
Remember it was yesterday that Michael Lohr announced he was
filing a suit against The Twoies, the family that adopted
him that became the basis for the book The blind Side,
(05:25):
which turned into the movie The blind Side, which won
Sandra bullockin Academy Award for Best Actress. Football player who
needed a break was kind of down on his luck.
The Twoies adopted him. He wound up going to college
and everything else, playing in the NFL for a decade,
and he is a filing suit against them that they
are that they have kept money from him that they
(05:45):
made off of his story and the movie The blind Side.
The Twoies had no comment yesterday. This is a shocking
story because, look, The blind Side is one of the
most beloved sports but I told you last night it's
the best sports book I've ever read. And now the
happy ending of it all, and now the impact of
it has gone away because now you have Michael Lore
who is going to try to sue his adoptive parents
(06:06):
or not quite adoptive parents, to try to get money.
At the crux of this is Michael Orr saying that
instead of adopting me, they signed me to a conservatorship,
which allowed them to control the money and control my
image and make money off of me today. The two
Weis respond by saying that they were victims of a
(06:27):
shakedown that before this happened, Michael Orr called them to
say fifteen million dollars or I will go public with
this and really make your life difficult. The TwUI said no,
Michael laur went public with what he had to say,
and now things are a mess. It's an absolute mess
in this beloved story. It's so rough that Sandra Bullock
(06:49):
is getting all kinds of hate like it was her fault.
And she's an actress who was in a movie she
doesn't know. Michael Orr said, I never met Sandra Bullock.
I never met It's not Sandra Bullock's fault. She a
part in a movie. That's all. It is. All she
did to part in a movie. I can't believe she
won for Blindside, probably because she should have won before,
but they didn't give it to her, So they give
it to her for Blindside. Look like I've said, they
(07:10):
give you best Actor, Best Actress in the NFL when
they can reward you for your career, when you have
made Hollywood a lot of money. It's a lifetime achievement award.
But she gets to win. And now things look really weird.
And I come back to one thing, Mike, because you know,
we talk about a little bit last night. Does Michael
Lor need money now? Obviously? Right, because here he is
a fifteen million I won't go public now I want money.
(07:33):
I want money from the Twoies, and it's most likely
gonna end with the two'es giving him some kind of cash.
Does Michael Lor need money's as a cash grab? Yeah? Probably?
At the same time, are the Twoies have they made
more money than they let on?
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:46):
I think they made a little bit more money than
they let on that they made off of the blind
side in the story. But the main thing I keep
thinking back to, and this is where I was all
day with this, is that if everything was that bad, right,
if the Twoies were that bad and Michael Orr was
was rooked out of a lot of money, Michael Lewis
(08:08):
would have said something. I mean, this is the guy.
He was there for every single bit of that. He
was there through the entire time, when they when when
they lived with him, when they signed into a conservatorship
when he was eighteen, he was there through the entirety
of it, so he knows what was signed, he knows
what was done. He wrote the book on this entire thing.
(08:29):
And I keep going back to that if it was bad,
he would be the first guy to say, hey, wait
a minute, now, in my research, this is what I
found or this is what I have here, And he's
not said anything. Now, yeah, could part of it be Hey,
I wrote the book, this is not me. This is
a difficult thing with with Michael and the Twoyes, and
and boy, I have love for both of them because
I was there and I really want them to really
(08:51):
work this out. But at the same time, if something
really bad happened either way, whether it was you know,
Michael or doing this or the twoies, if something was
really bad about this was really making off, making off,
I think Michael Lewis would have said something because he's
never been shy about it before. Look at the books
he writes, you know, he's never been shy about it.
That if it was that bad, and there was there
was so much to this that, oh man, this is
(09:12):
gonna rip the lid off of this story, he would
have said something by now. But it's been two days
and he's been silent and he's not said anything about this.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Yeah, I mean there's a lot going on here, right,
the shakedown allegations, the denials of so much on behalf
of the two wee's. We read the statement that Sean
Tooey had given to a local newspaper yesterday, and so
trying to figure out what the devil in the details
is you talk about Michael Lewis and what he would
(09:41):
have known would have been around. I also, I mean
you got fourteen years of people that have been working
for Michael or as agents, publicists on down the line.
Nobody ever followed any money or tried to figure out
why money wasn't gonna come in from a three hundred
million dollar project and what was true, what was imagined,
(10:04):
and what should have been flowing into his accounts. I
mean that that's a dereliction of duty as well. Right,
Obviously he kicked the can down down the road, finished
his career plus seven years, and now you've got a
full team of people.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
We know this.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
I mean, we've talked to so many players and ex
players through the years. The number of people that are
into your business, you know the business of you. They
all get paid based on what's coming in.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
None of them noticed there was a problem.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Yeah, it's you know, it's he says, you know, because
when you hear Michael or say say, oh, I didn't
start looking into this until twenty sixteen when I stopped
playing in the NFL. It's taken you seven years to
figure out a conservatorship and not adoption and what it's
taken you seven years to go through. That come on
at the same time when the two we say we
made fourteen thousand dollars and a flat field come on.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
And I don't think anybody's in any of that.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
I'm not buying.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
And I know they were moneyed and they had a
lot of other businesses and everything else that flowed out
of that. But the goodwill out of this and this
is always uh where I come back to you on things.
And maybe I'm just old and cynical at this point.
The idea of altruism to me is like.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
A four letter word.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
I don't believe in it. That you don't do everything right.
Your your sole ambition on something is just the goodwill
towards a person, place, or thing or an entity. There's
always something in it from you, whether you think you're
buying indulgences in a path to heaven, whether you think
it's just gonna make you look good to your buddies
(11:41):
at the country club or whatever it is you do
with your social circle. Hey, you know what we get
to do? You know, we're part of blah blah blah.
In this case the two He's brought a guy who
was a top notch prospect and developed into a top
notch prospect into Old miss a school that they had
great ties to, right, which goes to the conservatorship and
(12:02):
the idea of you've got to be quote family otherwise
you know, there's problems with the NC Doualea. All of
those stories come together. So telling me you didn't profit that,
you didn't benefit from this, but for a couple of
measly thousand dollars, nobody's buying it. It generate, you know,
it's the where did all that money go? I mean
it's hundreds of millions of dollars we're generated off this film.
(12:26):
And this is part of why we have these strikes
that we do in Hollywood right now, because everybody wants
to know where the money goes. And this is certainly
a case front and center involving the biggest brand of everything,
the shield of the National Football League and movies and
everything that flowed out of that that people are gonna
(12:48):
want some answers, like if you can get some clarity
out of this boy, I think everybody that writes and
is around movies and acts in movies they would declare
this a victory too. If suddenly you found a paper
trail to the with what the twos whatever, the result
is right, even if the accounting comes buy and there's
not a dime that was misappropriated, lost or whatever that,
(13:11):
you know, just the truth being uh and coming to light,
would I think be a big win for everybody.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Yeah. I just I just keep thinking that we would
have heard from more. We would especially would have heard
from Michael Lewis on this like it, because he's the
first guy you would call, hey, dude, did you come
through any of this? Did any of this happen? Because
you know he's got notes, you know, he's got everything,
he's got interviews, he's got all of this. He's got
Like I said, the guy literally wrote the book on it.
He would have said something if something was really really bad.
(13:38):
Now maybe he's looking through going Okay, I want to
see if I can figure this out. I don't know
what's going on here, but this is now two days
and you know that people have called him and if
he really had a solution that could help, I'm sure
he would have, but he hasn't said anything. So this
tells me that, you know, is this gonna wind up
being a nothing burger And it's gonna wind up ending
with the two we's are gonna give Michael Laura a
(13:58):
one time payment undisclosed, and that's gonna and that's gonna
do it, and and that'll be it, and they're gonna
be estranged. And this good and this feel good story
that had so many things in it that everybody can
can take something away from. That's why the book was
so good. It was sports, it was not sports. It
was family, it was the foster system of the United States.
It was so many things, you know, and now that
(14:19):
that that's going to just break up and be oh hey,
it was a great story for a few years, and
now we now we see what was going on at
the end of it. I mean, I gotta think that's
how it's gonna end. And because if it was bigger
than that, Michael Lewis would have heard from.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
I don't know the last time I've heard this song.
Woww deep cuts, hauling oats everybody Fox Sports Radio The
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. At
the end of your first year, Discover credit cards automatically
double all the cash back you are And that's right,
everything you earned is doubled. Seriously see terms. Check it
(14:59):
out for yourself at discover dot com. Slash match. Well,
I'll tell you, Mike Harmon, we got we got some
hard knocks to get to. We got big time QB
one news in the NFL to get to. But again tonight, Look,
we talked about Michael orr or off the top because
it's such a crazy story. It's Look, it's the biggest
story sports and outside of sports, pop culture wise. The
(15:21):
last couple of days, but another night, another goal by
leonal Messi and Inter Miami moves on to the semifinals
of the League Cup. They win four to one tonight
over the Philadelphia Union, who were in the finals of
the MLS Cup last year. And how did Messi's goals
sound tonight? Well, it sounded a lot like this.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Christoff into the fiena Martinez has time to turn into
Messi advantage play Messi driving forward Messi.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
From dust Apple TV on the call. You know, here's
the thing, Mike, Now, you you and I have seen
(16:12):
you know, more than five minutes of soccer. Uh, if
it wasn't for Messi, he scored like this before. But
you know, I've seen this goal a couple of times.
A going keeper should have had that one. I mean,
this is a grass cutter by Messi outside the box
and he doesn't get a hand on it. That's kind
of surprise, But I.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Think it's a little deeper. I think you got to
give him a little more credit for the distance. But yeah,
to your point, he did not see the ball, Well.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Yeah, that was that, you know. But I look, I've
seen him score a couple of goals like that before.
But I'm like, oh, that really should have been something.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Well, did we get an exit velocity though?
Speaker 1 (16:50):
One hundred and nine miles an hour on the exit
being legitimately?
Speaker 2 (16:52):
I mean like he he hammered it. It just it
just rolled and the dive was in vain.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Yeah, and it was, like I said, he put in
a perfect spot and I've seen him do it before.
But boy, I'm like, ooh, keeper's got to get that one.
Keeper's got to get that one.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
Yeah. But my big concern here is the only scored one.
What the hell?
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Yeah? Oh no, Now is he done? Now? Is he done?
He's over and they finally caught up to him. Messi
is overrated, just like the US women's national team. He's overrated.
Eight seven to seven ninety nine on focks. Is Messi done?
Uh yeah? Nine goals in six games. Uh, so far
for Messi as Inner Miami into the semis of the
(17:31):
League's Cup. Now, you wouldn't think there's a dark side
to Lionel Messi, But I gotta bring you a dark
side because this is it. It's it's it's legit, it's here,
it's real, and we we have to talk about it.
So eventually, this League's Cup is going to end, right,
and then we're gonna get back to the rest of
the MLS season, and teams have anywhere but at twelve
(17:54):
ish games left right, and the top nine teams make
the playoffs. And certainly, look, I've told you. This is
the era of soccer now in our country. Everything is
happening at once, and Messi's gonna be at the forefront
of that the next couple of years because everything he
does is front page news. Go take a look at
the MLS standings, where the top nine teams in each
(18:17):
conference make the playoffs. Right now, DC United has the
ninth spot in the playoffs with thirty points. Where's Inner Miami?
Not first, not second, not three, four five? Inner Miami
is in dead last place. Now, I don't think they're
gonna lose a lot of games going forward, but you
(18:39):
gotta make up twelve points over your final twelve games.
That's a lot. That's a lot to make up over
twelve games. Yes, yes, you get your three points for
winn every but you have to hope your teams in front.
This is where you have to win every game. And
if the teams in front of you go five hundred,
well then they're gonna make the playoffs. So it's conceivable
(19:03):
that we get an MLS playoff without Leono Messi. I mean,
just think about that for a second. Oh yeah, yeah yeah,
But people haven't looked and say, yeah, Miami's all the
way at the bottom. They're all at the bottom. They're
behind Toronto in New York Cina. I mean, they have
eighteen points. They won, they won five games this year.
They've won. They'll win more and they probably will win
almost every game they play the rest of the way.
(19:24):
But is that gonna be enough? It's gonna be really,
really difficult.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Well, and that's where I get you to calm down,
because it's it's messy time. I mean, you want to
talk about building a legend. You know the history, you
know the international success. Now he takes over the league
and you got a taste of it here and in
this in this tournament style, you've got to watch him dominate.
You've seen the heroics and you've seen the rest of
(19:49):
this offense come to life. What was one say, sputtering
mess is now a well tuned machine with everybody getting
getting their exit getting now because so much attention is
paid to at least slow him down a bit, obviously
with to no avail with great regularity, as we've seen
(20:09):
these last couple of weeks. But I mean, isn't this
the greatest thing you could hope for for the MLS?
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Right?
Speaker 3 (20:14):
He goes to Miami, they're a terrible team sets the
world on fire because we're watching each and every night.
I mean, he's much better television than Robert Sala.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
And come on, man, come on, man Sala telling that
story about the hawk and they take the crow and
they asphyxiate the crow because it flies too high, and
then they eat it.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Come on, I'm working to make a dirm out of that,
and then I'll have an art show that you can
buy it.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Yeah. Go, But that's one of those science projects you
do in you're in fifth grade. What's your prod? You
hit the kid doing the volcano? Right, everybody does the volcano,
and then it's what yours? Well, mine is how a
hawk eats its prey. As you see right here, it's
almost like you can use the prices right going up
the hill.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
That's good, it's good, and we've now changed it out.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
I dig that the hawk.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
Grabs the crow, which the crow was kind of cocky
and arrogant, thinking there's a bunch of us in one
of him, and then I get grabbed. I figure out
my friends are gonna come help me. We're gonna get
this hawk. And then suddenly the hawk keeps flying higher
and higher higher, and all his buddies are yelling keep
him there, and I pass out and the next thing
I know, I'm eating I'm inside somebody's gullet or I'm
(21:25):
inside this hawk's gullet. That's a pretty good start, don't all.
I kind of liked that story.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
Yeah, I was kind of gonna overlay a bunch of
the audio expletives redacted of course, from Goodfellas to really
tell the tale of how this natural battle would play out.
But for Messi and for Miami, I mean, how great
is this for the MLS that is always seen as
so far behind whatever, and they've had some great numbers,
(21:50):
They've had a great advancement. The deal they did with
Apple Plus is proven to be a win. Looking at
you packed to I'll pack for whatever yard all of
those things, and you know you have a player of
his magnitude that has this journey. I mean, it rights itself.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Man.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
The people in the league offices are salivating over what
the next few weeks become with this schedule and every
game they win, I mean, this is happy Gilmour going
up the board, right on the giant letters getting flipped
off and up they go. The rankings in certain whatever
sports movie you need to that you've seen that done
(22:31):
throughout our history. I mean, that's what we've got here,
and it'll have the global audience, and certainly for you
and I because we love to watch ourselves some soccer.
It's all good. It's all good for us. It gives
us another sport to run through. I mean, I was
up watching Sweden at one o'clock in the morning yesterday.
I got problems, man, I got problems. But this is
(22:54):
exciting stuff and it's great for the league and all
its participating teams.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
You know, I hear you. But I'm pretty sure the
MLS would say, well, yeah, that's great and the run up,
but we'd like them if they maybe had just you know,
six or seven.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
More points and you know what, don't you're saying, there's
a chance, and it becomes that much better a story.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
And then, you know, you and I, because we're.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Men of the world and we've seen some things, we're
gonna watch all those on our other MLS results a
little bit more closely. Now, aren't we refereze calls? How
much they inject themselves into play. I mean, all of
that becomes such a great theater. Even if it's all
just conspiracy theories about getting Messi into the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Twitter it ow about a Fresco Mike gets swollen domb.
At the end of your first year, Discover credit cards
automatically double all the cash back you were and that's right,
everything you were in doubled. Seriously see terms. Check it
out for yourself at discover dot com slash match. All right,
so for a buck for a dollar, I'll give you
either side in Miami makes the MLS playoffs or they
don't make the playoff.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
Oh, they're in.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
You want them to eat? Okay, all right?
Speaker 2 (24:02):

I'll tell you that it was more than that.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
Well, once they hit you with the fees, man, the
food itself was a little over one hundred. And then
you start adding delivery and service fees and stuff. Oh man,
that's next lone. And I'm not talking. Hey, here's a
couple of bucks, you know, for restaurant maintenance. So I'm
just you know, they get you. That's how they get you.

Everything is coming up Jets. Right, everything is hard Knocks
and Aaron Rodgers and they get Dalvin Cook and today
they activate Bryce Hall and they expect him to be
full bore, ready to go. Week one. It's I'm here.
Every fifty years this happens for the Jets, and this
happens to be that year, right, this is the year.
Every fifty years, it's it's Cicada's on steroids. I almost
(25:55):
feel like it was a pact with the devil and
we're gonna find out something from Joe Namathwell, hey man,
in sixty eight, I decided to do this, and you know,
a guy came into a bar one night and I said, hey,
what got uh? And yeah, so suddenly now, yeah, every
fifty years it's gonna happen. And that's where so we're
gonna get the Jets. Now are gonna win the Super
Bowl this year and then they'll win it again in
like twenty seventy four. Right, that that's how it's gonna go.
(26:17):
But I'll have this year and it's gonna be glorious.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
You do like my super Cicada?
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Yeah, I do like that. I do like that. Yeah,
it's almost like almost like well just look about this.
It's it's closer to Haley's comet.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
No just anything. Now, I gotta say this.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
I mean, we now have an animated series of Joe
Namath going down to the crossroads that we need to
we need to start working on and animating along the way.
This is next level stuff. But no, look, it's all positivity.
But I mean, I gotta ask you, doesn't it make
you nervous a bit?
Speaker 1 (26:53):
You know?
Speaker 2 (26:54):
It's how positive that it all is.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
Just you're used to chaos and disorganization and mistrust and
and just a lot of looking around going all right
on paper, this looks okay dot dot dot. I mean,
it's just all good vibes and positivities and what the
hell I mean people like Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
Yeah, dude, that's the thing. We have eight. That's why
we have eight. Eight is making this all possible. And
if the j if there's a magic in the early
morning we found where the sunshine smiles on everything around. Uh,
I could sit here and say, okay, yes, something's going
(27:35):
to happen, and that that's where I am always with
the Jets, Right, Something's gonna happen. But I've decided to
say you know what like that. Man, if something happens,
it happens. I have now, I have this. This is
the best. This is the most talented team Aaron Rodgers
has ever been on.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Jason, can I give you a song lyric that's gonna
help you?
Speaker 1 (27:53):
This is it? Go ahead, give me myself.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
From the the greatness that is Jethro Tull.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
Okay, stops running.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
It was a new day yesterday, but it's an old
day now. All that's in the past.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
I like it.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
It's Jets time. Let's go.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Man, this is it, And.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
If it burns, it'll be on our watch and Frostburg
and ty Shirt and eye and every once in a
while Finley will be here to watch it burn.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Yeah, like I may be playing a fiddle and dancing.
I don't know, Like like I haven't seen it before.
If it does, look at the Jets.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
This one's gonna This one's gonna hurt more.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
You think I haven't seen it go but bumbles and
everything else? Now, I mean I know you've seen it.
This is a different. This one's different because if it
melts down, all hope is extinguished.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
It's when Caleb Williams next year.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
It's fine, right, it's well, they're not gonna be dad bad.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
I know exactly. He's terrible. I mean he got hurt today.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Oh, jet's jets. Look, he's fine. He he limped after
one play, didn't miss the play, went back in and
finished the rest of the day.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
But I don't know that's enough.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
Man, you guys, man, you guys, you guys need new material. Man,
you guys every time. Hey, it looked like Aaron Rodgers
frowned when a play came in from the sideline. There's
trouble there. You guys are just you.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
Guys about your jets getting new material Other than sucking.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
You guys are reaching man, Frostburg, We're gonna beat you
week nine by fifty. It's gonna be fifty to nothing
in the fourth quarters. Go what happened? And Justin Herbert's
gonna go keep that defensive line off of me. Man,
this is terrible. Man, I can't throw the sauce.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Zach Wilson five iron t's in the first half.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
Boom, oh oh oh hey, if Zach Wilson's playing that game,
it's completely different. I will completely different.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
Wait wait wait wait wait wait, we just started looking.
He's like, oh, we're gonna blow. Ye, Well, you know

Speaker 1 (31:23):
That is no pants on? That's what it is. Yeah,
you could tell he's got you can tell he doesn't
have pants on during it.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
How would you know?
Speaker 1 (31:29):
I could talk? Right?
Speaker 2 (31:33):
You can tell by somebody's voice when they're wearing pants.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
No, by Harmon's voice, cause well, when the restriction gets
loose ever and my voice drops to yeah, alrighty come on,
I've just been listening to Harmon's voice for almost ten
years now, come on, man, I know I know when
he's got pants on and when he doesn't.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
I could tell, like right now. He's got pants on
for that right there.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Carry on if I want to tell you, he doesn't. No,
I came to the studio and I stripped down. Let's go.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
I'm an ask man. Gotta be comfortable in here. And yes,
that is true.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
So big news in the NFL today. Anthony Richardson has
ascended to be the number one quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts.
He said, I'm surprised that they named me the starter
so quick. So I'm gonna give you two possibilities, Mike Harmon,
and you tell me which one you think it was.
You ready for this?
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Yeah, let's go. Then he told me, and I'm like, wow,
it really happened.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
Honestly, I was shocked. He said, I didn't see it coming.
Anthony Richardson has been so impressive in preseason that after
just one quarter of preseason play, despite the fact that
he's only started fourteen games since his senior year of
high school, the Colts and chains I can have seen
enough to say you are our starting quarterback. Aard number
(32:50):
one starting quarterback for the season. That's the first one, yes,
second one, yeah, the second one is Jim Mersey called
and said, you know I've been getting killed on this
Jonathan Taylor stuff. You make Anthony Richardson the starter right now,
and tudda, Anthony Richardson is the starter. He had said
from the beginning he wanted Anthony Richmond to be the
(33:11):
starting quarterback right away. As soon as the decision went out,
he tweeted out his support. I support this right there,
So you tell me this is Anthony Richardson being so
unbelievably great. And look, and he wasn't great on Saturday.
He did show some good things, but he showed a
little bit of Hey, guy needs a little bit of
experience to see what the NFL is like. Okay, it
wasn't like he was terrible. It wasn't like the game
(33:32):
was too big for him. But after one quarter of play,
after this, now I see this and I go, this
is a Jim Orsay special. This is a I'm getting
all bad headlines for Jonathan Taylor. I want to show
people we don't need him. You make Anthony Richardson the
starting quarterback. Now I watch him play Saturday, he looked fine.
You make him the starting quarterback?
Speaker 3 (33:53):
Yeah, I think there's something to that. The idea that
you've leaned into stich In, and I'm sure you've had
the converse. Say, look, you are not going to be
ousted if this goes badly, right, you're here long term.
You guys are gonna build together, and let's start that
from day one, because, as I've said for years, and
maybe Jim Ursay has been listening to the show like
(34:15):
so many others, if he crumbles and he can't take
it and it falters and then you quote unquote lose him,
he was not your guy.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
He is not the guy.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
He is not the man as we talk about, he's
not it and all of the different terms that we
would use to kind of point and decide and crown
a guy. So I think that's the case. Like the
season's gonna be what it is. You're not looking to
be world beating if Gardner Minshew is under center, so
you might as well get Richardson no some reps and
(34:50):
some opportunity. And yes, it does take away from the
Jonathan Taylor side of things for sure, both as a hey,
here's an exciting place. Let's see if he can play
like his hair's on fire and come up with some
big play. We know what Gardner Minshew is.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
No, and I'm not saying that you don't that he
needs to be the quarterback, but after one quarter of play,
which was uneven, he's the starter. And I I look,
I know you want to make sure you are maneuvering
the offense around his skill set, right, you're tailoring it
to what he does. It's different with Gardner Minshew. I
understand that, but you are still in early days of
(35:29):
training camp, right, You're still in early days of camp,
and you want a guy to make sure he earns it.
He's been given everything, He's been given everything the guy.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Well, you always say the guys need to start as
soon as they drafted that high, so what the hell?
Speaker 2 (35:42):
And they're giving you exactly what you want.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
But you seed right, No, is he in a position
to succeed right now? I don't know that he is.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
He's a member of the Colts.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
You see what they've done with the quarterback position since
Andrew Luck walked away.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Jim Hersey's still smarting from that. Are you kidding me?
Speaker 1 (36:04):
We'll have more of this coming up next plus other
big quarterback nerds. Keep it right here, Jason and Mike.
No
