Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
That is US. Good evening, everybody, VJ Husky, Arnie Span

(00:51):
way tire buyings should be. You want to get in
big Vanilla funny, I'm in Stinking Genius one. The second
half of the show, it's a final. We'll start with that.
I really don't know what most to say, what more
to say about it is canted up feats to the USA
three to two. As we kind of reset that for
the second half of the show, it was a great game,

(01:13):
a lot of fun to watch. I think the NHL
is onto something here. The ratings are going to be
through the roof and may be the most watched NHL
game in the history of the NHL or in the
history of hockey. They had ten point one million on
last Saturday. I can't wait to see what today's game
is going to bring in. But Thursday is the big

(01:35):
TV night. Everybody was drawn into this. It was a
win win. It was a plus all the way VJ was.
It was just a great thing to watch.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
It was a great thing to watch, man, and I
appreciate the effort the players put out there. I appreciate
the NHL. We're putting this thing together. And like I said,
it doesn't get much better when you have the game's
best player in an overtime game between two power world
power countries in the sport and the best player from
north of the border.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
They run a set play form, no one picks them up. Yeah,
you don't do that with Connor David nine feet away
from your goalie. That's that's game time right there, and
that's what it was. Great job, Man, McDavid, thinking about it. Man,
three goals and two assists in the tournament. So the
best player showed up right, like the best player was
the best player the entire tournament and then won the
game that won the tournament. Not to mention it to

(02:23):
you know how big this is. And did you show
the locker room champagne. They're drinking out of the trophy
cup and they give out like I mean, like, dude,
you don't see this in the NBA and All Star Game.
Only the All Star MVP gets anything. Don't nobody get
They don't get the play back.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
They All Star Game used to be must watched TV.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
At why yeah, back in the West, do you remember
that old school red Jards, the Red Jerseys against the
Blue jerseys, man, or when they used to let the
guys start wearing their own team jersey and just if
you were in the east ward of white, if you
were in a West Warrior color jersey. So yeah, they started,
you know, picking teams and making an AAU basketball all
and of course they let Lebron be the first captain

(03:02):
to ever pick his own All Star team. And now
we're mixing a match and it's like, well, this isn't
like the you know, typical all say, it's the only
sport that does. Everybody has in baseball, n L and
the n L and NAIL and and you know NFL
is to AFC verse the NFC. We don't. We're not
mixing and matching this thing.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Man, do you think the NBA players are watching this
hockey game that they really care saying yeah, I wish
our sport was like that, or we got to care
as much as these guys care, or they don't. Just
it doesn't bother them at all.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
I don't think about them at all because they get
guaranteed super Mexicos. Like when you're making Listen, like, I'll
ask you if you were making two under ten million
dollars guaranteed what another league about? Would another station bother you?

Speaker 2 (03:41):
No?

Speaker 3 (03:41):
But then what would bother? What would bother? Nothing would
bother me? And that can't be the way to go
through life. Something has got it sooner or later.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
I'm just yeah, but that's I'm just answering that particular
question right that you are proposing to me, is do
you I think the NBA players care? No? Why they don't?
They don't need want to play.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
These guys make go out of money, but they can
don't make as much.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
As that the Yeah, but nothing like the NBA, and
they still carry It's the same thing in the NFL. Man,
Like the best player like Tom Brady made a bunch
of money. I know, it was always a storyline. Then
he took less or he never took big deals. Well,
you're married to the highest earning model in the world,
number one, so your duel incomes pretty good. And you
still have all your TV twelve and all your endorsements
and stuff, and you still made some pretty You were

(04:25):
still the highest paid player with the Patriots all those years,
but you still went out and you still wanted to
go to ten Super Bowls and win seven of them. Uh,
you know, he were the best, the best players in
the league. Man, they make the money, sure, but Miles
Garrett doesn't take plays off. He's the best rushing and yeah,
he's one of the best, if not the best rushing.
Justin Jefferson is by far easily maybe one A. Jamar

(04:45):
Chas gonna be one B with Tyreek Hilling there when
his heads on straight receivers in the game, you'll see
these guys take games off, or take days off, or
take plays off. It's it's it's just a different mentality.
The NBA has just been babied over all these years,
in my opinion, and now this is what you have.
This is this is what you have remembered when the
influx of high school kids were just flooding into the NBA.

(05:06):
One every it was like one, every out of every ten,
for every listen, for every chemist, Guard and Kobe and Lebron,
there's a there's a Corey Benjamin right, there's a There's
there's a there's a there's a there's a I forget
the Brooklyn the Brooklyn guard man that Sebastian tel Ferris, Yeah,
Sebastian right, I got dropped a boy Portland. There's for

(05:27):
every one, for every one of those stories, there's a
there's a whole slew of guys that came out of
high school and never did nothing, and and then you
know what you come, well, go get the money, Go
get the money. That started the money mentality is they
would tell the kids, you don't turn down, go get
the money. Even in college, if you're a borderline first
round draft pick, they tell you to leave school even
though you can use another year, you can use another year.

(05:48):
The tournament and just competition and honing your game so
when you get to the league, you know more, so
you could prepare to be in the league longer. But
just to say, yeah, I'm a freshman and man, I
had to kick that. I had a kick ass season.
I'm going to the leagu man because I could be
a top twenty pick. But you have a round at
your game. You haven't honed your game. And we've heard
NBA players four players center on podcast during the season

(06:10):
they don't work on their game. Right If you're worried
about videos and running around with Instagram models in the
off season, then you're definitely not working on your game.
And just because you put opposed a video a you
a Carmelo some other NBA dudes playing ball at the
Summit in New York, that don't mean you're working on
your game.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
And it's more than just town. I want you to
know something. John Starks once said he can go to
Rutger Park and he could find about ten guys that
would dust him in a one on one that would
just crush him. He's an NBA player at the time,
and he goes, I don't care, they would just crush me.
It wouldn't even be a game. These guys could be
in the NBA. But one guy got in the drugs,

(06:47):
one guy did this, one guy got arrested, one guy
got in the trouble. One guy gets.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Dropped out of school at ninth grade. Yeah, went to
the streets. Yeah, those stories are those stories are all
all day long. But even if that guy was in
the league. Are they disciplined? Are they gonna work on
their game? Are they gonna eat right? Are they gonna
drink soda and eat kenny? Are they gonna drink Are
they gonna eat fruits and vegetables and drink and drink
electrolytes and water. There's a difference there. When you get
to the league. It because it's your job. When they said, oh,

(07:13):
we play a game for fun, we get paid to
play a kid's game, Well it's not a kid's game.
You're in the National Basketball Association. There's a billionaire sitting
courtside that needs you to drink right, eat right, train right,
stretch right, and be in play right. Trust me, he ain't.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
He's not.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
He doesn't think it's a kid's game. He's a billionaire
that owns the team. So I think also too, in
the NBA, it's it's so free flow, like who gets better?
Name of the player. Anthony Edwards is a kid that
comes to my mind. Right. I held out on him
last year, and and a lot of guys that do
shows with other co hosts I work with.

Speaker 5 (07:44):
Man.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
No, he's legit. He's legit. I said. He can neither
be Dwayne Wade or he can be like a Brandon
Roy type player. If you remember Brandon Roy from Portland Explode,
You know, but did you ever think Portland's gonna win
anything where Brandon Roy?

Speaker 3 (08:00):
No, they had their chance when they fell to the
Lakers that one year. They never really got that. They
never got back. They never got back again.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
Once he became the franchise guy, I thought that Minnesota
jumped the gun getting car Anthony Towns out of there,
which we see coming to fruition for the Nikobokas and
MSG every other night, right, and now the franchise is
yours aunt. But I watch his game. Just tell me
what he does better this year than he didn't do
the last two years. Just tell me what he does better,
and I'll shut up about it. But I watch his game.

(08:27):
It's like, Bro, he's the same guy. I used to
say this about Paul George when he's in Indiana. I
thought the Paul George we saw in the conference finals
when they lost the and they lost in six, when
he almost had that thing tied up at two and
lost in six city heatles, I thought that was the
best Paul George we were ever gonna get. I was right. Now.
He did have a great two year, one and a
half two year run and ok s. But what was

(08:48):
he trying to play for a new contract? What did
the Clippers give him a new contract and he came here?
What happened? It's the same PG. Now, Monty and I
you were talking earlier in the show. Now go to
the pcity of brotherly love. What's happening. It's the same
thing we saw. The best Paul George we were gonna
see eight years ago. He's never going to be any
better than what we saw already. I'm afraid that happens

(09:10):
far too often in the NBA for guys we call
star players, and you look at the kid like Austin Reeves,
he looks better than he did his first two years,
and Le he does any absolutely because you can tell
he works on his game. But Rue Chamara, then he
looked like the same player that got drafted out Againstaga.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
They wanted to get didn't they want to trade Reeves?
Did I see that?

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Ryder was like, you know, anybody's name is up when
you're on Lebron's team, No one's say we're Lebron. No
one say But it would just have been a dumb
move because he facilitates the ball. He's a hard worker,
he's a good locker room guy. He's a good teammate,
Like he's a professional. He plays hard, he doesn't take
nights off, he doesn't take games off. You need you
still need those guys. Yeah, you could have a superstar,
but you better still have some shot. Calls him to others,

(09:50):
I call him the musshats, But I think others is
kind of disrespectful because the others is like just dismissing
them as Oh yeah, those other guys, I call them
the muss hats. You must have a guy like reason
if you got any shot. Thinking that you can do
anything as a Laker this year, even with Lebron and
Luca take take Offson out of the game last night,
gets ejected. What happens. They spiral a lot of control.
They come out and score eighteen points in a third.

(10:11):
Did he deserve it? By the way, what are he
dropping that farm? Or something happened fast? I didn't think
he deserved it. It was fast to the point where
if you weren't watching the court, if you happen to
be looking down, typing in the press box or writing,
most guys missed it. And I was watching the court
and I go, I go, you know, holy bleed. They
just do they just do alson off the game. And
as I said that, he's walking off the court and
throwing his head man, the guy said next to me, goes,

(10:31):
what happened? I goes, I don't know, but I saw
the first tech and then the second one. He didn't
even blow the whistle. He just pointed to the back
and also just turned and just walked off the court
and just threw his headbands the stairs. I said, wow,
he just threw Austin out that fast. It was he
must have. It must have been to you know, every
rep's got a magic word.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
And I'm sure he hit that magic cord. So NBA,
what do they do next? I guess they just finished
out the season. We wait for the playoffs. Same thing
with the nhlcause I don't think this like when you
cover the Kings. What's the atmosphere there or.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
The game day? Oh man, Los Angeles, Los Angelinos love.
I was shocked when I first started covering the games.
They they are that, those those are those are black
and silver. Laker fans home, those are black and so No, No,
they're sick. And it's and they and they and they
they dwarf out like you don't see a lot of
when the when the Oilers come, you see a lot

(11:20):
of blue and orange. You do get that. But for
the most part, man, they locked that thing down. It's
black and silver in there. Uh, they think about it. Man.
They won Stanley Cups of recent years, so they're not
bottom dwellers. Last year started off down, made a coaching
change in season, then decided to keep him as the coach,
slipped things around, got to the playoffs. This year, they'll
go to the playoffs again doing well. No, the Kings

(11:40):
games are really really good. You just think about it.
The arena since what twenty thirty thousand people Okay, you
got to notice twenty at least thirty thousand people in
the city that love hockey, right right, So you're gonna
get fans to come to the game. You're gonna fit.
You're gonna get fans that come support the Kings, come
sell out, especially when they're winning. No, it's it's a
great It's just like a Laker fan Laker game. It's

(12:01):
it's packed, it's loud, it's a great atmosphere. Quick Sydebar
didn't know how freezing cold inside arenas are for when
you cover again, did not know that they cut the
ac down the fifty homing No tight top for you, man.
I walked out of there with a ronny nose. I said,
never again. I would definitely have my scarf and have
a jacket in the press box because it is freezing.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Now up there. I know they do have a good
atmosphere in Los Angeles. My wife, we only lived like
an hour from Montreal, so like an hour ten minutes
with traffic. She was up in Montreal's with her work.
They all went to the Canadians game. I think they
played Winnipeg. I'm not sure who it was to say
that it was a great atmosphere. As another statement, up

(12:45):
in Montreal, those fans are just ravid. They're absolutely crazy.
I guess it's like their NFL because that's their sport.
They love it and you just couldn't get enough of it.
The place was sold out, tickets were very expensive, but
they they love it. The Canadian fans, they love the
whole experience up there.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Oh yeah, No, hockey is everything today. Many they start
you as soon as you can walk. It's so cold
up there. Remember the lakes freeze, so they play outdoors
in the cold. You know what I'm saying. Like they
they they that's that's their national They may listen, man,
they played that's their national pastime Canada for so long.
It has been the best. Some of the greatest hockey players

(13:25):
in the world over history of hockey, especially the NHL,
have come from uh the country north of the border
to US, so, you know, saluting them tonight. They got it.
I'm pretty I'm pretty pissed off. I want to USA, man.
You know, I was in the United States Army. I
served this country, so whenever it's USA against anybody, I
am always pulling for USA. Man. So tough one tonight.
But what are you gonna do?

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Man?

Speaker 3 (13:45):
That's pointed, But it's not like it's a major disappointment
because there's really nothing at stake. I still enjoyed the game.
It was a good game, and I would.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
Have loved to win, but it's still it was like, yeah,
talking bragging rights, there's nothing other than rings. Other than rings,
There's nothing better in competition than bragging rights. I beat you.
There's nothing better than I beat you. I went to
the award, I get to stand up there with the Emmy.

(14:15):
You don't sorry, you call it arrogant, call it or whatever.
We both put in the time. We both put in
the product and put in the work. And when they
put in my product and my content, I get yours.
The people that decide said his is better. I there's
nothing better, man, Come on competition. Then look at you
play pickleball. I see, I know you're not out there
being nice already. I've seen your videos. I've seen you

(14:36):
play in the men's league, the basketball league. You still
got a little jumpy again. Your projects got you start
a little jumpy. But I've seen you, Arnie. You're not
out there like, oh sorry that that ball went out
on me? No, no, no, no, ref you made a mistake.
You made a mistake. I fouled him. No, no, you're
not out there. Come on, bro, there's nothing better than
telling another forty year old plus man, I beat your
ass and something and something competitive especial if you can

(14:59):
tell a thirty something you're old guy, Come on, man,
twenty something year old guy, come on. But they were.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Playing for the love of the game. You're right about that.
They're playing for the country. They're playing for USA, they're
playing for Canada. That's what it means the most here
in the in basketball. We have to talk our guys
in the playing for Team USA because most of them
don't want to go through the Olympic grind or anything
to that. We have to we have to beg you
to play fortually. It's it's two. This was his first Olympics.

(15:24):
Did you know that? Or what was his last Olympics?
That was his first one? Who Steph Curry?

Speaker 4 (15:29):
Yeah, it was the first Olympics. But Steph's also been hurt,
had some nagging injuries to end some of his NBA seasons.
So I can see that on the times the Olympics
that come quick sidebar too. Man. About competition, you know
our producer Shane, We're supposed to play a game of
one on one basketball that it never happened. So yeah, yeah,
put them had phones on, Scrappa. I'm ready in the car.

(15:51):
Don't all right, I'm not.

Speaker 6 (15:52):
I'm not.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
I'm just saying, Brian up. I'm just saying no, No,
we're playing outdoors, Homie. I want to give you the AC,
but I don't need the AC. I don't need a see.
First of all, don't try to teach you treat me
like I'm no. He's like I was trying to play
aside on the soft rims and hardwood floors for you. No, man, man,
they've been through a live These needs, listen, these needs

(16:15):
have been through a lot. But it's something about getting
out of your car, walking through a little grass path
and just and your feet hit the black top, bro,
and you take that first bounce.

Speaker 6 (16:25):
The games.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
There's a game already. There's a game. There's a game
already going on. And your first question, the first thing
out your mouth, is who got next?

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Exactly?

Speaker 4 (16:35):
Guy, Guy, It's just something about that man being outside.
How do Sidney Dean say it? In White man? Can't jump?
You gotta you gotta watch the wind out here, Baby,
touch the ball left and right.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
He looked back out.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
He said, yeah, but you don't know nothing about that
I love it.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
By the way, if you feel like going to your
home is out of reach, well Rocket is here to
give you back the keys because they believe everyone deserves
a shot at the American Dream.

Speaker 4 (16:59):

eight hundred for Rocket. That's one eight hundred for Rocket.
You want to be part of the show, Real simple,
It's on Twitter, Big Vanilla Funny, I'm its Thinking Genius one.
We're going to come back. Todd Furman's going to join
the show live from Vegas. He'll wrap up what happened
in USA Canada. Also, we'll talk about what's next to
bet on all that's coming up next right here on

(17:23):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
All Right, good evening, everyone, VJ Husky, Arnie Span You're
in for Jason Smith and his best friend Mike Carmon.
We're live at the Tyreck dot Com studios. I want
to get right to our guests. You can check them
out on the bet the Board podcast. It's our Buddy
Todd Furman Todd, I just saw this DraftKings came out
and said, this was the most bet hockey game in

(17:55):
the history of hockey. What do you think about that?

Speaker 5 (17:58):
You know you love to see it, and I think
it's a score very near and dear to you and me,
Arnie as well as producer Shay, that we watch on
a regular basis that most of the country doesn't pay
attention to. And of course there were other reasons that
folks were tuned in for USA Canada, not only on Saturday,
but of course in tonight's final, and hopefully it turns
some of the casual observers out there into hockey fans

(18:20):
going forward. But there was a reason it did. Gangbuster
ratings rivaling out of a Stanley Cup final matchup, and look,
tonight's match did not disappoint in the least, even if
the final wasn't what fans of the Red, White and
Blue we were all looking for.

Speaker 4 (18:32):
Talk from how you're doing VJ right a husky here man.
Great to be talking with you, buddy, great to have
you on man. So tell me what do you think
this does for the NHL? Arnie and I threw this
around back and forth earlier. I'm kind of split. I
don't know if this's going to gain fans, but I
do see a world where people watch this and go, hey,
maybe I should pay attention because this time of year,
the NBA is not giving me much and I'm not

(18:54):
into college basketball like that. You got to be a
real nut and statistic to be into college basketball. What
do you think this does for the NHL? If anything tok.

Speaker 5 (19:01):
You know, I'd love to say that it's going to
create a huge boost and provide a tailwind that carries
us all the way into the NHL playoffs that won't
start till April, but I don't think that's realistic VJ.
I mean, this for international competition comes with a different cachet,
a different level of you know, visceral entertainment that brings
the casual fan into it. It's not going to move
the needle the same way if they flip on at

(19:22):
twelve thirty Eastern on Saturday to watch the Minnesota Wild
against the Detroit Red Wings. But even if it turns,
you know a handful of folks in hockey fans that
want to continue to watch the sport. It sets the
stage for what should be tremendous international competition again three
hundred and fifty days from now in Italy, when Team USA,
Team Canada and a variety of other nations beyond the
Finlands and Swedens of the world all will go to

(19:43):
battle trying to win a gold medal and the best
on best tournament for the first time in a while. Unfortunately,
you know, Teama has to wait at another year, since
nineteen ninety six, the last time the Red, White and
Blue has knocked off Team Canada in a best tournament
involving NHL player.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
Ratings wise, ten point one million people watch on Saturday,
but Thursday's TV night, that's when networks put out their
top show. Will this game get more than ten point
one million watching?

Speaker 5 (20:11):
You know, I'm optimistic that hopefully it can. I think
to your point, sometimes falling on a Thursday night during
the course of a slow sporting calendar period. I know
the NBA was back from the All Star break today,
but you'd like to think this could move the needle.
There was plenty of build up. There was a nice
war of words. We saw Brandon Hageo and Massi Kachuk
go back and forth in the media. But that's such

(20:32):
a massive number. I'm not sure we're going to be
able to surpass that, but even if we come close,
I think it speaks to everything that you know, TNT
and ESPN put into this event, and the other thing
that's hard to ignore as well. I mean, this was
an exhibition tournament, guys. You still had players going out
there giving it their all, and it just further illustrates,
in my opinion, hockey players are wired a bit differently.

(20:53):
When we see NBA elite players don't take it with
the same level of prestige to be a member of
the feat teams and the gold medal teams and the
World Baseball Classic. It almost feels like most marquee players
in Major League Baseball would rather opt out. Just hockey
players wired differently, and a couple of them paid a
very dear price. Whether it's Charlie McAvoy who's going to
miss the time, Chase Theodore for the Golden Knights, and

(21:16):
as we await the MRI results of Matthew kit Chuck,
it doesn't look promising that he's going to be back
in the Florida Panthers lineup anytime soon.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
We have top forman all right now on analysts for
CBS Sports talking right now on Jason Smith Show being
filled in right now by VJ. Vernal Husky and Arnie
Spain to stinking genius. Let's flip just to another league,
the NFL. Two names I'm gonna throw at you. What
are we seeing with OZ where they can end up?
I think the quarterback domino this year starts with Matthew
Stafford and the Rams, and then of course you have
Aaron Rodgers that's going to be out there. What's Pittsburg

(21:45):
going to do, What's the Rams going to do? What
some of these other teams may be looking to do.
What type of numbers in bets that we've seen coming
on where Stafford can end up and where Aaron Rodgers
can end up.

Speaker 5 (21:54):
It's a great question as far as trying to identify
Matthew Stafford's more logical landing spot. I think a number
of folks that have kind of pointed towards the Minnesota
Vikings an unlikely spot but maybe a perfect fit with
Kevin O'Connell if they believe that JJ McCarthy needs to
learn for another year before assuming the rains. The Giants
another team that's been rumored as kind of a package

(22:16):
deal with Cooper Cup those teams more or less the favorites.
I know some people have talked about the Raiders, but
if you're Matthew Stafford, you're probably more likely to retire
than decide to endure a season as a member of
the Silver and Black. Arnie, don't tell Plank that. I
can remind him of that on Sunday. As optimistic as.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
He might be.

Speaker 5 (22:31):
And when you look at Aaron Rodgers VJ look, I
think there's only a few teams that are willing to
bring him into their locker room. And it's not necessarily
because of an eroding skill set, but the distraction he provides.
I don't think he's a logical fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I don't think it makes them into a division front runner.
But the Tennessee Titans might be a logical landing spot
feel a cam Ward or a schdor Sanders or whatever

(22:54):
direction they elect to go should they pick a quarterback
with the number one pick. Overall, I mean, Rodgers makes
his home parts of the year in Nashville, and it
can at least stabilize a position that was really a
black hole last year as they went through the revolving
door with Will Levis and Mason Rudolph.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
Is Trevor Lawrence being chopped around or is that just
one bad, terrible rumor out there.

Speaker 5 (23:15):
It sure sounded like more rumor and conjecture than anything else.
You have to imagine for Liam Cohn to take the
head coaching job down there in Jacksonville, that the organization
made a commitment to Lawrence to bring in an offensive
minded guy. And we can look at what Liam Cohen's
impact was as a member of the Rams coaching staff
and how that offense looked. We've seen the kind of
impact he's had on Baker Mayfield and even if you

(23:36):
go to the college ranks, the difference between Kentucky the
Kentucky offense with Liam Cohn there and when he was
in ThEC I think him paired up with Trevor Lawrence
knowing that they have some under the radar weapons that
are continuing to emerge, that Jacksonville offense should be just fine.
And you have to imagine that they're going to use
their top ten overall draft pick on the defensive side

(23:57):
of the ball as they try and figure out how
to solidify a stop unit that is non existent. More
often than not.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
H Todd as quick as you probably could for us Garrett.
Miles Garrett is the guy out there that's been, you know,
demanding the trade him and my but love Dolphins already
and I both Tyreek Hill. What are we hearing out there?
Where are those guys are going to be wearing new
uniforms come kickoff Sunday for the twenty twenty five season.

Speaker 5 (24:21):
You know, Tyreek Hill backed down some of his complaints
pretty quickly in the wakes of the season, so I
have to imagine that I'm still going to make him
a favorite to remain a member of the Dolphins. I'm
not sure if he gets them over the hump, it's
for Miles Garrett. Look, if you're going to come out
and demand the trade, I know Cleveland has said they're
not going to entertain things. Someone is going to come
in with a compelling offer. And I think if I

(24:42):
had to look at two teams to make an awful
lot of sense, the Washington commanders would be one, knowing
that they can continue to bolster the defense with the
fact that they don't have to allocate that much for
a starting quarterback in Jane Daniels. And let's throw the
Dallas Cowboys into the mix. They may love the prospects
of trying to pair them up with Mike A. Parsons
and to figure out a little bit of splash there
with a former Texas A and m product.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
All right, last ye before we let you go, it
looks like Luca's not going to make the difference with
the Lakers this year. And what's what Traymont Jimmy Butler
going to make the difference with the Warriors. They're not
moving the money line to the odds up there in Vegas,
are they?

Speaker 5 (25:16):
You know what I think Jimmy Butler makes the Warriors
a little bit more formidable. Do I think they are
good enough to knock off the Oklahoma City Thunder in
the Western Conference? Absolutely not. And as far as Lucas concerned, Arnie,
I'm willing to bet that you've done more cardiovascular fitness
over the last month than Luca, who looked like he
was playing underwater. We'll give him to play himself into shape.
I'm sure him and Lebron will figure things out. But

(25:39):
you do wonder when Luca is going to remind us
why he was one of the best players in the world,
and essentially put the Mavericks on his back and root
to the NBA finals just a season ago.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
Todd, you're the best. And by the way I saw
your little poll today, was I winning the What sports
gambling guy, do you want to hear from.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
The most Arnie?

Speaker 5 (25:55):
Any any pole that involves sports gambling? You're never going
to be the winners' ever, and then you will always
be number one in our program and number one in
our heart.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
I love it, Todd Ferman. Todd appreciate it. We'll speak
to you Sunday.

Speaker 5 (26:10):
Always a pleasure, guys, VJ. Good luck keeping Arnie in line.

Speaker 4 (26:12):
I know he got there. I got I got you,
I got you, t if, I got you, baby.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
I love it, Todd Ferman. Everybody check about it bet
the Board podcast. We'll talk about some of the stuff
that Todd brought up first, though, Let's check it with
Monsei for the third time tonight. See what's trending this
late to night. What's going on? Mansei?

Speaker 7 (26:28):
The final game in the NBA has wrapped up Fellas
and Lebron James almost had a triple double with turnovers,
but it didn't happen. He got forty points, eight rebounds,
eleven turnovers on his own, but the Lakers held on.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
They defeated the Trailblazers.

Speaker 7 (26:41):
One ten to one oh two. The Spurs, who will
be playing the rest of the season without Victor win
Banyama because of a blood clot in his shoulder, had
no problems today against the Sons, who are just terrible.
One twenty to one oh nine was the final score
dearon Fox twenty six points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
The Nuggets have now won nine in a row. They
took down the Hornets one twenty nine to one fifteen.

(27:02):
Nikola jokicch just shive a triple double with twenty nine points,
seventeen rebounds and nine assists. The Bucks beat the Clippers
when they shouldn't have. They even sat Janni Sante to
Kumpo in the fourth quarter and the Clippers were up.
They lost one sixteen to one ten. I'm not over it, Arnie,
I'm not over it.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
I'm just so sad about it.

Speaker 7 (27:24):
And the Nicks meet the Bulls in overtime won thirteen
o one oh one. Karl Anthony Towns doing a little
bit of everything thirty two points and eighteen rebounds. The
Calves beat the Nets, the Magic took down the Hawks.
The Celtics handed the seventy six ers or six straight loss.
They came out on top one twenty four to one
oh four, and the Pacers defeated the Grizzlies won twenty
seven to one thirteen. Canada edged USA three to two

(27:46):
in overtime at the Four Nations Face Off Championship. It
was Connor McDavid who scored the game winner for Canada.
And in NFL New something that happened a couple hours ago,
the Chargers agreed to terms on a three year contract
with safety Elijah Moulden, worth almost nineteen million with thirteen
and a half million in guarantees.

Speaker 3 (28:04):
Back to you guys, all right, thanks to Matsi. Mossel
joined us at about ten minutes from now with all
the latest news that we have not been able to
get a hold of.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
VJ.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
Husky, Arnie Spaniard for the guys like Jason Smith and
his best friend Mike Harmon right here on Fox Sports Radio.
You can reach us at Big Vanilla Funny, I'm instinking genius. One.
One thing we didn't get to go with as todd
about is when by Yama he's out for the rest
of the well, they first they said the regular season.
Now he's out for the entire year, whether they were

(28:33):
going to make the playoffs or not. This is not good.
Deep vein thrombosis very serious, you know some people, Yeah exactly.
I'm not a doctor. I did stay at a holiday
in one time, though, But look, they talk about this
could be career threatening, or this could be something that
he can come back to next year. It is a

(28:56):
horrible situation though. You hate to see the kid go
down with something like this.

Speaker 5 (29:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
Yeah, And it's also speaks to we on the way
over here, him thinking about different topics and I saw
this one on it and I always try to get
my head wrapped around you know what we might talk about,
what I want to talk about. When I got to
Victor win Bayama Witch, I have to get Monzie props.
She's the one who actually taught me how to pronounce
his name. Monts is the one who taught me how
to pronounce his name when he first is going to

(29:20):
the league. But got young players missing significant time when
they're you know, when they're just getting into the league, man,
you know, when they're young. He's too young to be
going through this stuff already. The man is doing twenty
four and eleven. That's that's Kevin Love and his prime.
That's Chris Bosh and his prime. You know what I'm saying.
That's Kevin Garnett, right, and it's prime Like he's doing

(29:42):
that in year two. Go look at Kevin Gardnet's first
twenty five and eleven or twenty five and twelve. I
think this is his third year in the league. He's
doing it in league too, so year two, so he's
definitely good.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
This is another Greg Golden situation here, I hope not,
that's for sure, you know.

Speaker 4 (29:54):
Yeah, and and that that also too, just adds to
just the franchise of the Spurs, Right, you get the
number one pick. Yeah, yeah, twenty years of relevancy and
in years you won championship, won five out of the
twenty that pop was there and with the with the
main core of Tim Duncan and Genobile and the Admiral
David Robinson and Tony Parker, and then they shuffling, you know,

(30:17):
role players here and there. Danny Green, who I took
chatted with at the game last night, was a Spur
there won championships with them in the finals. Now you
you've had those down years and then boom, you popped
the number one overall pick. You built a four hundred
million dollar practice facility right right there next to the
arena new for them, and then you lose them in
year two. So it just kind of takes the win

(30:39):
out of their sales. Especially they just made a Darien
Fox trade. So now you're thinking, okay, it got Darien Fox.
You know we're good. We're good to go here. Man.
We got we got Chris Paul He's gonna show Darien
Fox how to be a professional point guard in the
National Basketball Association. We got, we got big Slim and
uh and Victim wibin Yama, Like we're ready to roll
in in bam. This happens now. The very part is

(31:02):
is that blood clots are nothing to play with, No,
not at all. Blood clots are nothing to play with.
They are very dangerous and like you said, hey can
missed the year or more and then he can get
even worse and deeper than that. So I'm gona pray
for the young fellow. I love watching him play, love
watching covering him a Lakers Spurs game. Here. He's a
good young player, man, He's definitely a franchise piece, So

(31:24):
I hope he'll soon.

Speaker 3 (31:25):
I was looking on Twitter. Does history repeat itself? VJ?
And what I'm saying about this is San Antonio A
long time ago. They had somebody called David Robinson. David
Robinson got hurt. They went ahead and tanked, got the
number one pick, took some guy named Tim Duncan. They're
shutting down. The season would win by Yama. Now they're

(31:46):
not going to have the number one pick.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
We don't know.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
I believe maybe we don't know that. But if they do,
will they take Cooper Flag? Kind of like history repeating itself?

Speaker 4 (31:55):
Why not?

Speaker 3 (31:56):
Well, because there's still about seven or eight teams that
have worst records than that.

Speaker 4 (32:01):
No matter, man, I don't listen the NBA draft process.
I have a conspiracy about I always have. I don't
buy what you open up an envelope when you did
the ping pong balls in the guard, the selection behind
closed doors. It's the only league that does it. And
what other league does it that way? Nobody does it
that way. Worst team gets the first pick. You were

(32:23):
the worst team, You deserve to have the pick of
the litter. They're going to tramp though, Yeah, no, they
don't have to tank though, they don't have to take
they could somehow. Listen, we saw Orlando get back to back.
Remember Olanda got back to back number ones, drafted Shack
and then took Chris Webber, but then traded him for
Penny Hardaway with gold to State on Draft night, and

(32:43):
you team that up. Same thing happened with the Cleveland Cavaliers,
didn't the Cleveland Cavaliers get back to back now one
picks with Kyrie Irvin and the Bennett kid. That never
panned out. Like we've seen, We've seen stranger thing. Chicago
gets the number one pick in the year Derrick Rose
is coming into the league? Where is he from? Chicago?
Cleveland gets the number one pick in the year Lebron's
coming to Leage? Where's he from? Acro? I mean, just

(33:04):
too many the year Patrick Ewing, Remember the frozen envelope,
rumors of the code, the code, the code numbers, grab
the code. This one is the number one pick. We
need the Nick Obacas back coming off of the run
of you know that they had in the seventies, and
you're coming into the eighties and here's this Star Warth
franchise center. You know, it's gonna block shots and be
accountable and be a professional every single night. By the

(33:24):
name of Patrick Ewing out of Georgetown, and we're gonna
we're going that went to back to back national championship games,
just lost to Villanova and lost to UH Carolina. Jordan
has to shot over them. But I just don't trust it.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
Man.

Speaker 4 (33:37):
You did it behind closed doors, so I don't know.
So to answer your question, why Witting, you're giving the
number one if you need the Spur, you want the
Spurs back. Some of these other franchises aren't gonna do
nothing and are going to play, aren't gonna be well, Hey,
let's go ahead and get Victor a running mate. Let's
get Victor running eight. Team up with Darien Fox. Here
we go.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
We'll see what happens. We'll see if they get the
number one pick. We're gonna come back. Let's see what
months he's got to say. Manzi has the latest news
that's coming up next right here on Fox Sports Our Radio.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
Hi, we'relive at the tyreck dot Com Studios. VJ Husky
already spaniard for Jason Smith and his best tread Mike
Harmon right here on Fox Sports Radio, Let's check in
with Monsey. See what we've missed so far. What's going on, Monsey?

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Oh, I'm here to just.

Speaker 7 (34:29):
Give you guys some stories that maybe you've missed throughout
the week. As we know that baseball just kind of
got going right for spring training. Well, Rob Manfred to
address the media about the big subject that has been
on a lot of fans' minds, and that's the Dodgers
and their spending.

Speaker 6 (34:45):
The Dodgers have gone out and done everything possible, always
within the rules that currently exist, to put the best
possible team on the field, and I think that's a
great thing for the game. That type of competitive spirit
is what people want to see.

Speaker 7 (35:03):
He also addressed the fans.

Speaker 6 (35:05):
I said this at the owner's meetings.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
I'll say it again.

Speaker 6 (35:08):
It's clear that we have fans in some markets that
are concerned about the ability of the team in their
market to compete with the financial resources of the Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
And I think if we've.

Speaker 6 (35:20):
Been consistent on one point, it is we try to
listen to our fans on topics like this, and I
have heard.

Speaker 8 (35:27):
People on this believe me, Sorry about you guys, but
I feel like this is a little bit contradicting, Like, Okay,
so he wants to blame the system, not the Dodgers,
at the same time saying he listens to the fans,
but he works for the owners, and I truly feel
like the owners don't care about a salary cap.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
The Dodgers are doing everything right. They're putting together the
best team some of the rules. That's exactly what they
should do. Their fans will love them for it. The
best organization right now in baseball. Absolutely, Yeah, it's not close.
I being out here now, I don't on the Dodgers winning. So,
but you know, compete, like go spend money.

Speaker 4 (36:06):
They're they're spending money, they're getting and it's always not
about oh they're spending the most. It's how you spend money, right,
It's how you spend it in baseball.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
He's having on in a while.

Speaker 4 (36:17):
Hey, you got these owners kind of doing it on purpose.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Man.

Speaker 4 (36:19):
You got some of these teams like Kansas City that's
got like a terrible payroll and you know you're not
gonna win, you don't have any good players. But they're
not tripping because guess what, they're still gonna be profitable.
They're still gonna win. It was years with James Dolan
and the Knicks and the knickboxers, right spending all that money.
He's like, listen, I'm still selling on MSG and I
own the Rangers, so I'll just put whatever on the court.

(36:40):
You're still gonna.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
Come sticking here with the little baseball.

Speaker 4 (36:43):
I don't get the story, you guys.

Speaker 7 (36:45):
Kanzi Sports has the video of Showyo Tawy parallel parking
and they're.

Speaker 8 (36:49):
Like, oh, he's mediocre.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
He's not good at parallel parking.

Speaker 4 (36:53):
Like yeah, like he wasn't.

Speaker 7 (36:54):
He didn't do it in one you know, quick motion,
but he did it. He didn't he didn't ask for assistance.
I watched the video and I was like, okay, I
thought he was gonna hit the curve.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
I thought he was going to hit a person.

Speaker 7 (37:04):
I thought he was gonna get out of the car and.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Switch interpreter not somebody else.

Speaker 7 (37:09):
But like, no, he does it, and I'm like, this
is He's fine.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
Fine, you guys, Why are we making a big.

Speaker 7 (37:15):
Deal about somebody not being you know, like in one
I'm not I feel like I look like shoe when
I parallel park.

Speaker 4 (37:22):
You know what I mean, I get in there.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
Very good parallel park.

Speaker 4 (37:27):
No, I was gonna say the same thing, man, if
you can't parallel park, I cloud. But he did it.
I mean.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Five point five point you know what I mean. Like
it wasn't even it wasn't even that bad.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
I'm big about parallel parking. Man, to the car, I
clown people all the time that either turned into deep
and hit the curve and they got to pull back.
I'm like, oh, you know how to parallel park? Like,
I'm a huge I grew up driving in New York
and d C. And all it is. There is parallel parking.
When you're a teenager, you're club in and your young

(38:00):
when he's the lighteen young twenties, you know, eighteen to chill,
twenty one to spell type of clubs. You got a
parallel park on fourteenth Street. If you want to go
to DC lot, you know what I'm saying. You got
a parallel park, man, you better know how to do it.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
Didn't this car have an automatic parallel park anyway? Or what?

Speaker 7 (38:14):
It didn't seem like it did.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
Yes, at his driver, he didn't.

Speaker 4 (38:19):
Call anyone he did it.

Speaker 7 (38:20):
I just thought it was like, Okay, we're blowing this
out of proportion, you know.

Speaker 4 (38:23):
What I mean, being a little protective over your time.
Watch the video. Watch the video, because I really thought
it was going to take him.

Speaker 7 (38:29):
Seven different Inans announced and I was like, you guys
see this like I feel like a normal person.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 7 (38:36):
I feel like most people don't know how to drive.

Speaker 4 (38:38):
You would just want something to complain. I just want something.

Speaker 7 (38:41):
So I was like, speaking of complaining, let me complain.
I am over these NBA players talking that they're going
to be in the Slam Dunk Contest next year, first
John Morant and then Joanna Santa.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
To Kompo's like, oh yeah, if you do it, I'll
do it.

Speaker 7 (38:55):
And then he was asked about it and he was like,
oh my kids, they stole my phone. Aaron Gordon two
days ago responded to Jahn Morans think and I'm just like,
stop messing with us.

Speaker 4 (39:04):
You're not gonna do it. I hate that. You know
who started it? Your lebron started it. Name.

Speaker 3 (39:12):
Don't get me started.

Speaker 4 (39:13):
Because he wasn't he the attention wasn't on him. He
wasn't getting the attention that night. It was all and
Cheryl Miller going to him into doing it, and he's like,
you know what, I'm filney man. He wasn't never going
do it. Hush up. I'm with you too. If you're
not going, if you're not going to do a dude,
you shut up, shut up, shut it.

Speaker 3 (39:29):
Mac mcclun thank you.

Speaker 4 (39:30):
I'm about to say, oh be dunks Is won't beat
you anyway, Yes, all right. Judea's jumping over calls. He
looked like he had a lemonade standing like three weeks ago,
Like stop right.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
It's like, just say thank you to him and that's it.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
But don't play with me.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
Don't I want to see Taco fall being the slam stops.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
You probably put your money on him too.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
Yeah I will, Manzie, thank you very much. Thanks. Three
hours or in the books, that means the Bonus Hour
is coming up next. You want to be part of
