Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's good, y'all?

Speaker 2 (00:01):
It's Maxo aka Max Fuller aka Leonardo de Max Prio,
AK a million other things. You guys know, I got
a million monikers, and I was lucky enough to attend
Timberwolves Media Day down at the Target Center on Monday.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
I got a chance to talk to some of the players.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
We played snippets of the interviews on the Power Trip
Morning Show, and a lot of y'all asked to post
a full thing, and I'm nothing but a man of
the people.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
So here, y'all go.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Let's start things off with the nicest guy in the league,
Minnesota Mike Conley.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Mike Conley, what's good, bro?

Speaker 3 (00:29):
So what you're doing stuff like this, like media day
and interviews in general? What's this is a cheap question,
but I like asking it because I'm a cheater. What's
What's a question you don't like being asked?

Speaker 1 (00:40):
And what's the question you wish you were asked more often?

Speaker 4 (00:44):
I guess you get your generic ones, like how was
your off season? You know, it's like they're all the
same by this point, nothing different happens. But I guess
what I wish I was asked maybe, like, um, you
play at the New Call of Duty or something like that,
like something like.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Then I'll get to talking and opening up a little bit. Probably, Yeah, well,
did you play the New Call of Duty?

Speaker 4 (01:08):
I played the beta for the for the Black Ops,
so yeah, yeah, I did.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
You any good?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
My friends keep trying to get me on, but I'm
no good man, Like, can I join your team? You'll
carry the team? Give me some points, I will carry you,
I will carry. Yeah, yeah, I know.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
I love it. I love it.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
I love to compete, but it's a fun game.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
I think they did a good job, so it'll be fun.
Is that, like, then, your top video games of all time?
Call of Duty? What's your top five?

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Yeah, it's definitely up there because I like games where
you can play with your friends and stuff like that
online and yeah, yeah yeah, A lot of those are
tough to come by that are really good, so that
one's up there. I think Halo is the one that
I really liked a lot. I liked Madden for a
really long stretch of time. I haven't played in a
few years, but really good, good game. And probably Gears

(01:49):
of War was another one I loved. Man trying to
think of a fifth one. I love Street Fighter, so.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
You got good taste dough.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Yeah, I used I used to be nast see what
the sniper on gears back in the day. Man, Yeah,
you mentioned this is like your eighteenth year. You're coming
into your eighteenth season.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Uh. You know.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
We like to ask rookie players about their like welcome
to the league moment. But did you have like a
damn I'm old moment that comes to your mind where
where your offishally were like, all right, I don't got
it like I used to.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
I have that all the time. That's the problem. I
do it. Well.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
I had a moment in the locker room not too
long ago where I was explaining about an old player.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
It doesn't seem old to me. It seemed like yesterday.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
I was like, yeah, you know, this guy played for
the Memphis Grizzlies one.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Too long ago.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
And they're like that was in two thousand and six, Mike,
And I'm like, oh, these guys are not even born.
Like some of them weren't born. They're like two or
three years old. I'm like, wow, I'm old. Like I'm
sitting here telling them a story like yeah, we were
we did this, we were teammates and we you know,
and they had no clue what I was talking about,
and I just couldn't believe it, so that that kind
of forced me into that.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
You know, I'm old moment, right, Yeah, I bet man,
I'm starting I just turned thirty. I'm starting to feel
the same way.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
Man.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
I mentioned AOL to someone the other day. They're like what,
and I was like, damn, man.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
I've been around too long.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Well, you guys got an interesting dynamic because you've got
a lot of veteran players, but you got some new
guys coming in like Rob Dillingham, Terrence Shannon Jr. What
advice would you have for them? And and do you
have like a specific piece of advice that you received
from someone when you were a rookie coming into the league.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Well, yeah, I think the best advice I had is
I probably tell him as well, is is is you
know time management? And when you get to the league, Yeah,
it seems like the world opens up to you and
there's so much you can do and attain. But if
you use your time the right right way, working on
your body, working on your your game, studying film, h

(03:43):
your your diet, stuff like that, I think you can
really bowl well. For you know, setting that foundation for
the start of your career and you know, giving you
something to kind of live by a little bit.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Who was the veteran player that kind of gave you
that advice and took you under their wing.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
I had a couple and Brian Cardinal might date me
a little bit, but Brian Cardinal was one.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Yeah, yeah, they will know Brian Cardinal.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
He was one guy that really, you know, really took
his time and and and he gave me a lot
of wisdom. And Mike Miller was another guy that you
know Memphis that really helped me. Da Damon Stottomeyer was
another one. So I've had a lot of really good
vets to really you know, pull me.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Under the wing. That's awesome, man.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Yeah, and I'm excited to see the dynamic between all
the new players on the team this year.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
If someone came to you a festival organizer and they said,
we're gonna do conley Fest twenty twenty four, you got
five artists that you can book for conley Fest twenty
twenty four, who you booking for your festival?

Speaker 1 (04:38):
I probably have to go, J Coole, I probably have
to go.

Speaker 6 (04:46):
Man.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
This is great.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Shaboozi Okay, I'm gonna have I'm gonna have it.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
I'm gonna have it pop in.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
We're gonna have every every demographic in there, every genre, young, old.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yeah, we might have you know, a little.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Like Temptations in there, you know what I mean, Like, oh,
geez out there, bro like we might have.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
We might have a little bit of everything.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
We might have a little like Beyonce, and you know,
probably have to go with trying to think, maybe go
with like all American rejects. See, I'm all I'm getting everybody.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
That's eclectic right there.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Right, you don't have the whole state of Minnesota at
Conley past twenty twenty four.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
I'm gonna need a vip pats. Who's your best friend
on the team?

Speaker 4 (05:31):
And why, oh, best friend on the team and why Honestly,
it's it's probably Joe Ingles. Now it would say Rudy,
but yeah, me and Rudy are tight. But me and
Joe our birthdays are like eight eight days away. We're
about the same age, so we both have kids about
the same age. So we spent a lot of time
together in Utah. And now he's back here and and

(05:53):
Mini and and it's like we we never left each other.
You know, just hanging out all the time, talking all
the time, getting old at the same time.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Like it's just at a lot of a lot of commonality.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
There, so it's easy to see why we, you know,
kind of gravitate towards each other.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
I only need two words to introduce my next guest,
and you already know what they are.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Na read.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
What's a question that you don't like being asked in interviews?
And what's a question you wished you were asked more often.

Speaker 6 (06:23):
I don't really have a question that I don't like,
but question that I would like to be asked more
Maybe about fashion?

Speaker 1 (06:31):
I guess close what about calls and fashion? Uh?

Speaker 6 (06:35):
Just you know about particular brands and I guess you
know what what what? What styles go with what? And
things like that. Is that like a passion for you
fashion us?

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yeah? For sure? How did you How did you get
into that as like a passion?

Speaker 6 (06:49):
I think it was past like two years or so.
I think it just elevated to another level, whereas though
I'm really into brands or or just trying different things
and just understanding like you know, what this look is
for and what that looks for, and you know, just
going not to really mix too much, but to go,
you know, with one look from head to toe.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
What what are some of your favorite brands that.

Speaker 6 (07:12):
He already Plinciaga, Chrome, uh Rick Louis.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
I mean I can go.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
See that's why you just got it it now, you
got that check to get those kind of.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Get those kind of threads.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
No, if there was a festival, like someone comes up
to you and says, we want to do nas read
Fest twenty twenty four, what are five artists you're gonna
bring to nas.

Speaker 6 (07:37):
Fest future Little Dirk? Uh maybe hmmm future little Dirk.
I'm gonna uh.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
M hmm, what else? Whatever?

Speaker 6 (07:58):
Maybe bees uh uh yeah, and uh YACHTI.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
I feel like everybody's has been pretty similar.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Dark in Future was on almost everybody's except for Joe
Ankles obviously listen, I love Dark nas How do you
feel like obviously you're like a halt icon in Minnesota.
People have your picture everywhere. They got the honk for
nas Reads. You've got tattoos and everything, Like how does
the whole nas read phenomenon? Like what does that mean
to you? How does that feel for you?

Speaker 6 (08:27):
Yeah, it's crazy, it's exciting. It's something that you're dream about.
I mean obviously you think you know you have you
see guys like Kobe or you know, people like that
who you know, have monumental moments like that. So I
think it's definitely exciting. Uh it's a crazy feeling, especially
you know, for it to be a surprise and then
like you know, like taw and Night was crazy. I
didn't even know they were doing that. Uh, it's it's

(08:48):
just the real What.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
Is like the craziest nas read related thing that you've
seen so far? Because I've seen people, I mean there
the talent at WrestleMania, someone brought it to perud or
one of the Seven Wonders of the Like, what is
like some of the craziest nis read stuff that you've seen?

Speaker 6 (09:03):
I think, Yeah, like you hit it on the pretty
much that the towels and at the Twins game or
Paris or the tattoos. Even I signed the tattoo like
maybe like a week ago. Just just doing that was crazy.
I think I signed it. She got a tattoo of
my signature over top of the naves read things, So
that was dope.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
But yeah, she crazy.

Speaker 6 (09:23):
A lot of crazy things that I've seen, license plates, everything,
you name it, it's nuts.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
I mean, like you're gonna get a statue before you
even retired outside of Target Center, like you're alleged in Minnesota. Now,
is who's your who's your best friend on the team?

Speaker 1 (09:37):
And why Jayden?

Speaker 6 (09:40):
I think Jayden and it But you know, I think,
you know, just just those are two guys that you know,
I just went well with. I've known them for five
years now, this which is crazy. And you know, we
got the same hobbies with Chill, we've and you know
on the court, you know, we all got the same mentality.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
So that's why Jayden said it was well when I asked,
and I'm trying to see if anybody's got like different answers.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Or anything like that.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Now it's like, I'm not supposed to ask you about
the trade, so I won't. But what do you how
do you feel like your role is going to be
expanded this season on the team?

Speaker 6 (10:16):
Just uh, I think just doing the same things that
you know, uh.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
Just doing the same things at a higher rate.

Speaker 6 (10:24):
Maybe just you know, understanding you know, uh, kind of
in the same role but different role at the same time,
because my minutes will go up understanding time, situation being
will be crucial for me going maybe going in at
the end of the game is a lot.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
More, uh, you know, just just understanding.

Speaker 6 (10:40):
The level of the game of basketball on another level.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
I think what was something that you you worked on
during the off season, like specifically, well, what's part of
your game?

Speaker 6 (10:49):
I mean obviously overall all of it, but I think
main focal points for shooting, ball, handling, and uh, you know,
just taking again pressure.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
I'm super excited see all you guys in the growth
between last year and this year.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
I believe you were on the select team right leading
up to the Olympics. What was that? What was that process? Like?
Playing against the Olympic team and everything.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
It was dope And you got the chance to see,
you know, all those guys on one team, including ant
That was definitely a fun experience. You know, you didn't
going to get going going in and being able to
compete against those guys and then we actually won a
few games, so that was dope.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
What was that was that first day when you guys
wanted there was like the news about it and everybody
was how what was that like?

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Were you kind of stunting a little bit on that? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (11:31):
Yeah, I mean it's crazy but you know, I've seen
this as what it is, but you know, he had
the situation that he's supposed to sow.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
Last question for you nows what was what was your
favorite part of the summer?

Speaker 1 (11:43):
My favorite part of the summer?

Speaker 6 (11:44):
Uh, I'd probably says taking the trick to Bahamas or
or I don't know, maybe my teeth that was.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
That was a fun experience.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Coming up next is one of the new guys in town,
and I think he's gonna be a fast fan favorite.
Here's veteran forward Joe Angles.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Joe.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
How you how you like in Minnesota so far? I
know it's something that hasn't been that long, but how
you how you dig in Minnesota so far?

Speaker 5 (12:07):
It hasn't been that long at all. Yeah, I've got
mixed feelings of Minnesota because I tore my a c
o here and but no happy to be here obviously. Yeah,
just kind of got in getting situated and doing all
that and then we have to do this so get
to meet everybody in one day and no, it'll be

(12:29):
it'll be a fun year.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
It should be a really fun year. Do you ever
kind of feel like you got ripped off? You're in Utah,
you're in Minnesota. Everybody other people get to go to
La and get to go all these cool places.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
You ever feel like, damn, I'm kind of getting ripped
off right now. Uh nuh.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
I mean Utah is better than I think a lot
of cities in America. They get shod on a little
bit and then people realize, like when you live there,
it's actually better than they thought. Utah was great for
our family, the kids and all that. Milwaukee was interesting.
I had some interesting people there. Sydney Billips, horrible person

(13:08):
who then followed me to Minnesota, and then Orlando. Orlando
was great, which we probably have is a bit of
a long term base now because that was a pretty
cool city. So yeah, definitely haven't been in like the
greatest places. But I also can't go I can't go
play in Melbourne, So America it is for now.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
I actually was just in Brisbane a couple of months ago. Yeah,
oh yeah, yeah, just hanging out. Yeah, just just shooting
the ship. It's pretty awesome, man. I like Australia a lot.
Doc me too, and you. I actually I think I
met somebody from the national team. At least he claimed
he was from the national team. It's just like some
random Asian dude I saw playing basketball at the park
and he's like, yeah, I played for the National? Is
there some Is there any random Asian dudes on the

(13:50):
Australian team?

Speaker 5 (13:52):
I don't think so. I hope he gets there and
I hope he does play for the Monday. No, it's
it is a good spot, Joe.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
What is a question that you don't like being asked
in these interviews? And what is a question you wish
people asked you more often?

Speaker 5 (14:10):
I think just being Australian you always get asked like
the same, Like the animals, like they're all scary and
buy it, but they're not. You were just there but
they're not.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
But there's giant bats where in Brisbane you just saw
on it would do.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
It was like you didn't even see it. Batman dog
like it.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
Was it's it's uh, it's all like I barely and
like I think I've seen kangaroos and zoos, but it's
not like they jumping down the streets. And the other
one is like the old shrimp on the barbie thing,
Like I don't think I've ever seen someone cook the
shrimp on the barbie. Maybe that's just me and my family.
But what do I wish I got asked more? Probably

(14:53):
I don't know. I don't really mind talking about whatever,
but my kids. I'll talk about my kids.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
How's the kids doing? Kids are great kids? A great
They're in the sports or anything like that.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
A little bit tennis, golf, a bit of swimming. My
little man does like kids gymnastic kind of.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
Yeah, so we're busy, but take them to the Simone
Biles thing that was here the other day.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
No, they're in Orlando.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Is not here yet? Got it all right? Joe?

Speaker 3 (15:25):
What do you expect your role to be on the
team this year? There's a mix of young guys, a
mix of new guys. Obviously things are still in flux
right now. I'm not allowed to ask you about the trade,
so I won't. What do you think is your What
do you think is your role on this team this year?

Speaker 5 (15:38):
There's probably a question for mister Finch, isn't it obviously
after what they did last year and having the year
they did and may now obviously get the opportunity to
come here is to from my perspective is it's to
kind of do whatever I can to help push to
that another level. And obviously he's a big going on,
but we'll see how it is. And obviously I feel

(16:01):
what I do on the court can help this group.
And at the end of the day, I'm my biggest
goal is to win. That's why I wanted to be
here and why I wanted to come here.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
And yeah, hopefully we can do it.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
We're all super excited to have you here. Minnesota will
embrace you like no other. Don't worry about that at all.
What was my next question? Oh, if there was, if
there was a festival coming to Minnesota, ingles Fest twenty
twenty four, you have five artists to book. Who are
you booking for Ingles Fast twenty twenty four? Not really
a music what like it just just doesn't do anything

(16:36):
for it.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
I remember a podcast guy, or like, I don't mind
actually like driving in silence because if you've ever been
in the weight room or around our practice facilities in
the NBA, and then I've got three kids, so like
when I get home, it's not quite at all either.
I don't mind just yet driving with the window and
a bit of like air coming through. And I'm not

(17:00):
a music.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
That's crazy, man, there's there I feel like it's rare,
but there are people out there like that.

Speaker 5 (17:06):
Most music gets listened to in my car when I'm
in my car. Is my daughter's playlist of like she's
eight years old? Yeah, like, yeah, she's got some wild
things that are for eight year old size, not wild bad,
but like stuff I wouldn't listen to. But yeah, we
take her to school and she gets to pick her songs.
So yeah, I'm not a Yeah, I'm not a music.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
What podcasts you listen to? Them? Everything? Crime?

Speaker 5 (17:32):
Listening to one of my wife got me on, which
is called the Connection Code, which is a cool little
yeah connection code you should get on that.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
It's actually kind of cool.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Yeah, coming at you next by way of Toronto, Canada.
Nakil Alexander Walker.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
What's a question you don't like being asked in interviews?
And what's a question you wished you were asked more often?

Speaker 7 (17:56):
I think after a loss, uh, being asked like what
do you think it was as to why you lost?
It's like sometimes it's just not that easy, and I'm
a sore loser, so it's like like, just give me
some time a little bit. A question that I wish
I was asked more? I probably have to say. I

(18:21):
think I love talking about food, so just talking like
about what's your favorite restaurant on the road or something
like something like that, just because.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
I'm a foodie.

Speaker 7 (18:33):
Like my mom really wasn't big on cooking, and I'm
from Toronto, so there's a melting pot of cultures. So
like for us, we bonded on just going to different
restaurants and whatever she ordered was like her cooking. So
for me, I just love trying new food and.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Stuff's what's your top top five foods off the top
of your head right now?

Speaker 7 (18:55):
Foods I gotta go, gotta go, ox till rice and
peas from anywhere in Scarborough.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
You can even say Island spices.

Speaker 7 (19:06):
Let's say Iron spice and Scarborough. The Honor Bar chicken
sandwich on Beverly Hills. That change sandwich is iconic, to
say the least. Surprisingly, Themnica in New Orleans has a lasagna,

(19:29):
surprisingly enough that probably the craziest lasagna I've ever had
outside of my grandmother's is the New Orleans lasagna at
Themnica on Barone Street in the Roosevelt Hotel. Let me see,
if I go sushi, there's a I think it's called

(19:53):
Crew I want to say it's called crew. I don't know,
there's a two random it's a Sacramento best sushi like
crazy Sushi, and then also Denver they got a good
chicken croget there.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
You really are a foodie. That was just all off
the top of that.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
You ever thought about doing like foodie content like YouTube stuff,
podcast and stuff. I just interviewed like some competitive eater
guys a couple of weeks, So you ever thought about
doing something like that?

Speaker 7 (20:24):
I can't eat fast, but I would definitely be interested
in like content and stuff of like going places, trying
new foods, restaurants. My wife made smash burgers, so I
tried like her smash burgers.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
I did a little content stuff on that.

Speaker 7 (20:44):
But outside of that, like that's the cool thing. I
think I should start that.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
You really should, dog like we need we need the
foody content because you got you got an elite mind
up there.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Dog. That was just off the top of the head.
That's crazy b man food.

Speaker 7 (20:57):
Yeah, I don't play well my food.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
To kill You just mean you just kind of went
through a bunch of different places that you've been. Where
is your favorite place to play?

Speaker 1 (21:07):
That's not the target center, favorite place to play.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
Oh, could be country, could be a specific stadium anywhere.

Speaker 7 (21:16):
For some reason, I really like Miami Stadium when I
think about like when I really started what what Like
I always watched basketball as a kid, but what brings
me to like a deep memory of when it started

(21:37):
clicking and when I started to see the game, not
analytically but from a more strategic and growth standpoint. I
would say just watching the series with San Antonio Dallas Miami.
Like watching those series, I think for me, that's what
that's I'm probably one of the reasons I remember I

(21:59):
have my first I want to say, it was my
first twenty point game there, so for me kind of
like sentimental a little bit. I would also say l
A Agents is out there, but did pre draft out there.
So for me, like seeing my friend, my family, like

(22:20):
when I used to work out there in the summers,
felt like a second home. And surprisingly enough, Philadelphia really yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
I feel like nobody says players.

Speaker 7 (22:34):
Philly's brutal, but like that's what that's what that's what
it is like, that's that's like basketball for me. And
like I remember growing up as a young kid going
to like the y m c A's and playing like
with older guys and grown men, and they were just
as harsh, just as brutal, and like for me, it's
kind of like a sense of home. Like they used

(22:55):
to pick on you, make funny, you tell you sucks
and make it's just it's just kind of like it's
essentially like playing in Philly. And so for me, I
would say, and the hotel there is really cool.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
So I gotta ask you, actually ask you a basketball
question on but uh so going you know, obviously you
had the hot start in the playoffs last year and
then kind of struggled a little bit in the in
the Western Conference finals, Like how what was that process
of kind of just accepting what happened and what did
you what was like a personal goal going into the offseason,

(23:28):
what you've been when you've been working on stuff.

Speaker 7 (23:31):
I think you have to face defeat for what it is,
but then you also have to like find a healthy
balance of not taking it to heart, but also at
the same time looking inward and saying, Okay, like.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
We lost, why did we lose?

Speaker 7 (23:47):
And it's not like March madness, where you lose one
game you can say we just didn't have it today,
like they won four games, you know, and they were
that team that came out on top and we had
opportunities in all five of the So for me, what
it did was like really make me look at myself
and I was like, what did I not do that
I needed to do? What did I do in those

(24:08):
other series that helped us win that I didn't do
in this series? And going forward, how can I prevent
that happening again? Like, how can I be the best
and most consistent version of myself.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
I'm looking forward to seeing you bounce back this season.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Man, last question for you if there was say that,
like a promoter came up to you and they said,
we want to do NA Fest twenty twenty four. You
got five artists to pick. What five artists are you
picking twenty four?

Speaker 7 (24:33):
Ooh, people can't come to my fest because I'll just
be honest, like they don't like me on the ox
as is some I'm gonna go.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
With Rod Wave.

Speaker 7 (24:45):
I gotta go to Rod Wave, Mariaha scientists. Uh, I
think either Drake for like some hype, you know, like
I'm gonna throw the weekend in there, and then you
can choose between Gunner and little Baby.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
I might have to pull up the no offense. If
they do that, I might have to pull up. So
he was on Drake side during the beef.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
I mean I was here. I was here.

Speaker 7 (25:13):
I was here for the music, you know what I'm saying.
But but like, uh, being from Toronto, you know.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
And last, but certainly not least, the best defender in
the NBA Jaden McDaniels.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
What's a question that you hate being asked in interviews
like this? And what's the question you wish you were
asked more often?

Speaker 8 (25:34):
Question I hate being asked, I'd probably say I don't know.
I don't really have no questions like but if someone
asked me like, why don't I smile?

Speaker 1 (25:42):
I'll probably hate that.

Speaker 8 (25:43):
Only here and then something not like answering really anything
like it could be by my teammates or about the
season or playing in the playoffs. So yeah, it's not
too much.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
What's a personal goal for you going into the season.
I know, obviously as a team you're always shooting for
a championship, But what's a arsenal goal for you going
into the season.

Speaker 8 (26:02):
Probably make the first team All Defense, Defensive Player of
the Year, that's always in my head, and just winning
the whole win the ring and then that's pretty much it.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
And you should have you should have been on first
Team All Defense last year. But you go show up
this year. You go show up this year.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Okay, say that someone came up to you and said,
we're gonna do jaden Fest twenty twenty four and you
got five artists to pick to perform?

Speaker 1 (26:26):
What are you?

Speaker 3 (26:27):
What five artists are you gonna pick to perform?

Speaker 6 (26:29):
Five artists?

Speaker 1 (26:30):
I got?

Speaker 8 (26:31):
I got a little Dirk Future, a little Dirk Future.
Who else were gonna We're gonna get Ve's little Dirk
Future vs. Oh, I'll messed with Gunn. I ain't gonna lie.
I mess with Gunner. We can get gun in there.
And then a little baby.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Yeah that's sweet man. Yeah, I'm going to jaden Fest
for sure. Yeah, we need to get on that. Jada.
Who would you say, is your like your best friend
on the team and why?

Speaker 6 (27:01):
I'll probably say nas?

Speaker 8 (27:02):
I mean we hang out a lot on the road,
leave when we're here, and just we've been here together
for a while. He was here just one year longer
than me, so just with comfortability, like we've known each other,
been through ups and downs, through bad season, good seasons,
so probably not.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
How do you feel about the incoming rookies coming in,
like Dillingham and Terrence Shannon Junior and stuff? You got
any advice from me? Got a chance to play with
them a whole lot.

Speaker 8 (27:24):
Yet I'm excited about him, Like I got to watch
him the Summer League and then I was here a
lot this summer, so just got to compete with them
as well. So they're super good and I feel like
they'll be able to help us out a lot, just
just like they're hungry and like they're super confident they
could play.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
So I'm excited for them. I'm super excited to see
him on the court too.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Man. And I gotta ask you, bro, you chot the
fro off, man, like we was Afro brothers for long.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
Do you feel faster now? Do you feel more aero
dynamic without the afro?

Speaker 8 (27:53):
I feel like a little lighter for sure, up on
my head, like just even having an afro, like I
could feel it bounce and it's like that. So I
mean I feel I feel a lot more lighter, more free.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
I'll say summertime is a lot better, right man, Right?
What was speaking of the summertime? Like, was your what
was the best thing you did this summer?

Speaker 8 (28:15):
Bestly, I did probably nothing. Just chilling, relaxed, enjoy the summer.
I mean usually in the summertime I go home. I
went to Seattle a few times, La like a couple
of times, but really just spend the time in Minnesota.
I really haven't had the summer out here, so just
enjoying it.

Speaker 4 (28:30):
Really.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
I had to imagine it's a little bit different going
into this summer than last because last year you were
rehabbing the injury coming in, so I was training and preparation.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
Over the summer been different this year compared to last.

Speaker 8 (28:41):
It's just been NonStop, I would say, just being able
to just have a low break after the season and
not have any injuries to make that way even longer.
I was just ready to get after it early and
then just been working up till now.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
So what's something about this team you think will surprise
people this season?

Speaker 8 (28:59):
I feel like, like our hunger and like the way
we play. I feel like it's gonna be like a
different intensity this year. And just yeah, I'm excited to play. Really,
I'm super excited.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
I can't believe it.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Did it feel like the summer went by really fast
for you too, man, I can't believe you'll already about
to start the season again.

Speaker 8 (29:16):
The summer felt like it flew by, Like it was
like we just played yesterday, So I mean we went far,
so that's probably why.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
But yeah, it did fly by for sure. How did how.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Did the energy in the city feel last year? You
guys making that playoff front first time in twenty years,
making it to the Western Conference finals? Just how did
the how did you guys respond to the energy from
the city, because you guys lit the whole state up.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
Man, everybody was hype.

Speaker 6 (29:39):
That was pretty cool.

Speaker 8 (29:39):
I mean, I've since I've been here, I've never seen
like the fans in the city be like so forward
for the Timberwolves. So like even seeing like the little
they had like a little not a parade, but like
they cut the streets off and stuff for the game.
So I mean that seems like shows that they care
about like what we're doing and how good we were,
So I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
I don't know about y'all, but I'm feeling a championship season.
I think this team is gonna be something real special
and we will find out when they open up the season.
On October twenty second in LA against Lebron James and
the Lakers. Thank you to the Minnesota Timberwolves for letting
me be a part of this media day. Thank you
to Mike Nas, Joe, Nikhiel, and Jaden for taking some
time out of their day to have goofy conversations with me.
And thank you, yes you, the lovely listener for listening.

(30:20):
I'll catch you sometime soon. In the meantime, stay beautiful,
love y'all.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Peace,
