(00:00):
This is Scott Becker with the Beckers Healthcare
Podcast.
These are five of the stories that we're
following currently,
and they tell a little bit of the
story of some of the things that are
going on in health care.
First,
Midcoast Medical Center Trinity is closing,
basically, due to financial
reasons. This is one of the Midcoast health
(00:21):
system hospitals. But again, you're hearing more and
more of these announcements throughout the country.
Second, in a very similar vein,
Providence
freezes non clinical hiring among perfect amongst the
perfect economic storm.
And again, more and more systems getting more
and more careful about their hiring.
Third,
senior leaders shoulder more of the weight of
(00:43):
middle management cuts than others as more work
gets stacked upon senior leaders. And that's at
least one perspective that comes out of a
survey. That's third. And again, all this goes
to tighter economic
situations.
Fourth, University Hospitals CEO Cliff Majerian. Doctor Majerian,
really really bright guy, met with RFK Jr
this past week, and that's always fascinating to
(01:04):
see.
They said he was very thoughtful and and
a pleasure to visit with. And doctor Majarian
is one of the one of the really
good people out there, so I take his
word for that that that's what he what
he found
in RFK Jr. This evolves. I don't start
off generally as an RFK Jr fan.
Finally, fifth, the White House post COVID nineteen
(01:25):
lab leak web page.
And this is really complicated because
people do, I think, want the truth
on what happened with the lab leak and
the virus and so forth. At the same
time, my goodness, it seems like stirring things
more things up with China right now seems
really challenging,
but it is what it is. And and
so the White House is is out in
(01:46):
front of that issue.
Those are five of the stories that we
are watching in health care that tell over
the story of the mix of things going
on.
You know, economic challenges,
a very active White House, just a lot
going on in health care and in The
United States and in the world. Thank you
for listening to the Becker's Health Care podcast.
