(00:00):
This is Scott Becker with the Becker's Healthcare
Podcast.
These are six of the stories that we're
following currently that help tell the story of
what's going on in healthcare.
First, interim routes in healthcare breaks ground on
a cancer center and primary care clinic,
in a in an area called Sarasota Springs
in Utah, not in I assume not in
(00:20):
New York.
Again, a sign of the times, some of
the big systems are more able to keep
on investing in stuff than others, but all
good and glad to see them doing it
because there's just a need for health care
every place.
Second, OSU Wexner Medical Center going mostly cashless.
I think you'll probably see more and more
of that over the next few years, places
going more and more cashless.
(00:42):
Third,
cancer mortality and incident rates improve.
This is from 02/2018 to 02/2022.
A good sign in progress in the war
on cancer. A constant struggle out there in
terms of what's going on with cancer.
Fourth, a fascinating story that plays into the
Medicaid debate and how much is Medicaid be
funded and so forth.
(01:02):
The the the story and study goes that
Medicaid expansion
exploits lung cancer treatment,
again, because you got funding, more people discover
their lung cancer,
more people get taken care of.
Fifth, more and more, a survey shows
senior leaders are gonna shoulder the weight of
middle management cuts, and we're gonna see more
(01:22):
and more middle management cuts.
Finally, sixth,
a
lot of announcements like this. Summit Pacific Medical
Center names a new CFO, Cheryl Cornwell. Congratulations
to Cheryl. Terrific, terrific leader.
Again, so many things going on in health
care right now. Thank you for listening to
the Becker's Healthcare Podcast. We'll be back with
(01:43):
you tomorrow with another short episode on a
handful of stories to watch. Thank you for
