Speaker 1 (00:02):
It's the best a billion Lisa in the Morning.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Hey guys, good morning, Happy Saturday. It's producer Riley from
Billy and Lisa in the Morning. Thanks for taking an
hour out of your day to tune in with us
while we run down the top five moments of the week.
Just a reminder, you can catch the Billy and Lisa
in the Morning show every weekday from six to ten
and we'd love to have you there. Or if you're
a podcast listener, we post the entire show up on
(00:25):
the Billy and Lisa in the Morning podcast page.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Check it out there.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
But let's get started with number five. Billy is hosting
a Rain Reunion night, and apparently the entire show is
going to be there and you can come too.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
I'll let Billy give you all the details.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
There's another big event to coming.
Speaker 5 (00:42):
Up that involves me and I think we're all going
to end up there if I get my way.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Oh we are years ago.
Speaker 5 (00:48):
I used to do a Kissen Night at a club
on ninety nine and mauled in. It was called Rain,
and somehow there's a Rain reunion coming up April twelve.
Now that is not this coming weekend, but the following weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Yeah, it's next Saturday.
Speaker 5 (01:05):
Yes, and typically the Rain Night, the Kiss Rain Night
was always on a Saturday night, and the place was packed.
There were lines out the door around the building and
the Long Route ninety nine just to get in on.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
A Saturday night.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
Somehow the owner of Rain, which by the way, is
now called Mixed three sixty ninety nine and Mal then Anthony,
if you're out there, how you doing, buddy, He's decided
he wants to have a Rain Reunion night, So that'll
be happening a week from Saturday night. Now, this is
going to be pretty crazy. The era of music was
(01:38):
a little unusual, but you'll remember you got some of
it there right justin well.
Speaker 6 (01:42):
It features hosted by Billy I'm looking at the flyer,
hosted by Billy Costa, Yes, and featuring the cover girl.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Oh yeah, oh I'm pulling up to this.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Yeah. He just said to me off the area.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
No, I'm definitely coming to the Rain Reunion at Lisa
has already said she's you.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
I have dinner, plan for me to come come after dinner.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
No, stay home.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Now I have to go.
Speaker 7 (02:07):
No, now I have to go.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
It's fine, it's we got the cover girls. We don't
need you.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
Oh yeah, now, but that was the thing about Rain.
Everybody including me, would go out to dinner and then
go to Rain and packed. You know who the DJs were,
My nephew, buddy, DJ Costa and Randy our buddy cost
was that old, well he was just starting out.
Speaker 8 (02:36):
He was young.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
Yeah, that was his first DJ gig. And Randy at
the time was like an intron on the show. Became
our stunt guy and that was his for No. He
did the tent in Quincy and then he came out
to Rain.
Speaker 9 (02:48):
I have to say these were some of the best nights,
Like we had so much fun.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
Yeah, because it was a time when people, you know,
they made a big deal about going out right and
everybody wanted to dance and it was a lively atmosphere.
And again by the time people got to Rain, they
had been out for a couple of drinks or went
to dinner and had a couple of drinks. So everybody
was in a good mood. So we're gonna turn the
clocks back. And I don't even know what year we
(03:14):
talking about.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
When is like what.
Speaker 6 (03:16):
Time doors open at eight o'clock. You can get tickets
at mixed three to sixty. That's mixed with two x's
dot com slash rain.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Wait, Bill, you're gonna be out there at eleven pm?
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Oh definitely.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Oh maybe I will have to shattering out.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
We're turning the clocks back, but you're coming. Come on,
We're going to be there.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
Saying hello to spring. Yeah you know what I'm saying. Well, yeah,
But the King of Freestyle was a regular. Stevie B
would come in live. We had live performers like the
cover girls, Stevie B, Debbie Gibson, like a lot of
different artists would commit and perform. How old are the
other cover girls?
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Oh, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
Probably like your sixties.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
You know what? Else?
Speaker 5 (03:56):
We had dancers. We had the Rain dancers who would dance.
It's on top of the speaker columns.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Oh my god, Wow, I guess a couple of them
are coming in here.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
To dance.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
They're still dancing.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
I think I climb on the sneakers.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
One of them, I'm told by Anthony the owner, one
of them became a professional dancer.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
And yeah, so it's going to be interesting.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
Three of the top DJs from that era are coming
into space.
Speaker 8 (04:23):
Events going to be so much fun.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
It's going to be yeah, yeah, I'm there. I'm pulling
up to this.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
So it's a week from Saturday night and it's now
Mixed three sixty en Route ninety nine and mall. Then
you can go to Mix three sixty dot com for tickets.
Speaker 9 (04:36):
Okay, yeah, you have to register, you have to get
the table, get to go to the website.
Speaker 6 (04:40):
It's going to sell out, and I've never I've never been.
I used to spend a lot of time in the
town Line Hotel.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
Right next well, the same owner, really, Anthony's family also
honed the Townline Motel and the whole trailer park along
Route one.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Yeah, that was all his.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
I did some stuff in that hotel by the hour.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
By the hour.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
I don't think you can't.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
Well, you know, I think they used to have what
they call makeover people now.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
They had one up on Root one.
Speaker 6 (05:06):
It was called Mario's Motor Love and you could rent
by the hour, right, and they had heart shaped Chacoozi's
in the room.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
The TV's only played pornography.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
You can heart shaped bed vibrate. I think you put
a quarter in right.
Speaker 6 (05:22):
Yeah, maybe I don't really remember, but I was showing
up there.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
So Lisa came in on Tuesday morning telling us that
her son Max and his friend Asa were stopping by
the studio and she had some, let's say, unfortunate news
that she wanted to break to them on air about
Ace's car. Hey, it's producer Riley. Thanks for checking in
with us while we count on the top five moments
of the week, and Lisa still feels bad about this one.
Speaker 8 (05:47):
It's number four.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
We want to welcome a couple of Milton Mustangs from
Milton Academy in the studio with us. And it's a
big week, March Madness, Sweet sixteen, you know, Final four,
the whole thing. Uh. Lisa's son, Max Dunovan is in
the studio. Good to see you again, Max.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
I'm good to be here, really doing well.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
How are you?
Speaker 5 (06:03):
I'm great, you know I liked I tell everybody you're
my nephew.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Was that okay?
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Of course? Okay?
Speaker 5 (06:08):
And Max brought his friend Asa with him and Asa,
this is your first time in studio.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Yes it is. It's a pleasure to be here.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
It's good to meet you. I've heard a lot of
great things about you.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Asa.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Yes, the only time I've met you is actually at
Jingle ball in your festive suits.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
So it's oh, we're not very festive. I want to
get this right out.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Of the way.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Okay, right at the outset. Let's get this out of
the way.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Asa.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
How did you get here this morning?
Speaker 1 (06:36):
We drove?
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Was it your car?
Speaker 1 (06:38):
No, we took Max's jeep.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Oh okay, yeah, it's probably just as well. Have you
looked at your car all this morning? Oh?
Speaker 10 (06:45):
No, I have not, because Max's mom bashed into your
car this morning in the driveway.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Are you okay, I'm okay?
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Your car?
Speaker 5 (07:02):
Is it Mom's car, Dad's my car? Okay?
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Okay.
Speaker 9 (07:06):
Well Max never told me that anyone would be sleeping
over last night, so I did when well, when I
was no, but but you didn't confirm it. So when
I was backing out, his car is parked right behind
where I where I back out of a dry out
of the garage, and it's complete darkness. So I might
(07:28):
have tapped the plastic covering of your tail light which
fell off this morning.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
So here's have you.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
Have you been paying much attention to the Karen Reid Triumph?
You know, there was a lot of talk about the
rear right yours is now missing.
Speaker 9 (07:48):
The plastic cover is now on the ground, and I'm
I apologize for that, but again I did not know
and it was to pitch black when I was leaving
this morning, so I will obviously pay for that to
get a new place, has to cover for your tail light.
But we we wanted to surprise you on the air.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Well, this is definitely a surprise.
Speaker 5 (08:08):
Yeah, wait a minute, aren't you related to Karen Reid's lawyer, David.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
I feel like.
Speaker 8 (08:19):
Either yeahs dad's cousin.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
Yeah, cousin, So are you close or is he the
weird really close?
Speaker 4 (08:26):
I don't know him that well, yeah side of the
family that we don't really spend a lot.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
Of time a yeah, okay, all right, so we'll just
move along. Karen read The retrial starts tomorrow with jury selection.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Max.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
A couple of other things here.
Speaker 9 (08:39):
Again, I'm really sorry, I'm really really.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Sorry sorry for the crash.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
It doesn't look the same as and by the way,
it always looks worse in the daylight, so Lisa only
saw it in.
Speaker 8 (08:55):
The stop piling on.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
There's another weird happening this morning, Max, Your brother Riley
was supposed to be.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Coming with you. Yeah, where is he?
Speaker 4 (09:08):
He's probably still doing his hair in the bathroom.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
So you legitimately had to leave him behind.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Yeah, so I woke up at six fifty five, right,
we left at seven ten? Quick turn around. My mom's
calling me like, oh where are you guys?
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Are you awake?
Speaker 4 (09:20):
So like, yep, all good, we'll be there at seven
forty five. Rolly was like, yeah, I'm not gonna be
ready till seven thirty. Actually, I'm like, well that just
doesn't work for us.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
So and you truk off we left.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Yeah, he'sa got ready in like three minutes he was up.
Speaker 8 (09:31):
Which is exactly how it should be.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
Yeah, Riley has this long process getting ready in the
morning with his hair. You told me he leans against
the wall for a half hour.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
Yeah, a good amount of time.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
Really, he wets it in the shower, just the hair,
so he's like leaning in the shower, leaning forward, and
then he leans against a towel on the wall for
five minutes and then he puts that in maybe a
dozen hair jels or something like that. I don't even know.
Speaker 5 (09:54):
Yeah, And another oddity is that at fourteen years old,
he's obsessed with the TV s The Bachelor, which he
covers extensively.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
On the Billion leads some morning show.
Speaker 5 (10:05):
Max, you know more about weather and meteorrology than most
weather people we have on the show. You're always more
accurate than they are. So I have a couple of
questions about the weather. Why has it been windy for
two years?
Speaker 4 (10:20):
I think it's just the average is windy. I mean
it's up and down, up and down. But liking the
spring and fall especially, you have to push the warm
air in here because we're so far north, like, Okay,
there has to be a southwest wind to push that
warm air up into New England from like the middle
Lante in the south.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Okay. I got another question for it. How do you
explain the fog out there this morning?
Speaker 4 (10:38):
I can explain it very well. Actually, So a warm
front went through overnight, right, and so this warm moist
are is now being introduced a kind of a southernly wind.
So all that moisture from the ocean's being stripped off
into New England and it's meeting the cold air that
was here over the weekend, and that warm air is
mixed with cold air, condensing the water droplets into fog.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
And I have one more weather question for sure, did
New York City have eighty six degrees and we were
thirty five on.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Yeah, that was ridiculous. New York actually dropped by twenty
six degrees in one hour, so there was a big
like stationary front that turned into a backdoor coal friend.
So basically the maritime Canada, all that coal there from
the Gulf of Maine kind of is stubborn and it
stays over New England during.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
The Stimey, is this something you want to pursue, like,
you know, for a like what are you going to
school for?
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (11:23):
I double major one? I want to do like climate
physics and then applied math economics.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Oh my god, how to fell those?
Speaker 5 (11:32):
You know?
Speaker 3 (11:33):
It's so good that I'm your own goal because we
could never.
Speaker 11 (11:36):
Hang around this.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Hey guys, good morning, welcome back. It's producer Riley. We're
counting down the top five moments of the week. We're
already at number three. Thanks for hanging with me. I
really appreciate it. This one was a topic time that
was actually given to us from a talkbacker. You can
always join the show by leaving a talkback on the
iHeartRadio app. You can join in on the conversation or
give us ideas for a topic. Time.
Speaker 7 (11:56):
We love that.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
But this is the number three moments.
Speaker 7 (11:58):
So let's go to the phones.
Speaker 5 (11:59):
Go to Robert too in Fitchburg, Roberto, good morning, let's
go bad movie.
Speaker 12 (12:04):
Good morning. Well first, that's my boys, the cinematic masterpiece.
I walked out of Alexander with Colin Farrell in two
thousand and four. It was a three hour slog. I
actually left to get McDonald's, and I felt bad that
I actually left the movie and I went back and
I still kind of like tortured myself through it. The
second one was Cloud Atlas with Tom Hanks. I think
(12:25):
that was twenty twelve, horriblest like awesome follow up to
The Matrix the Wakowski's Let's Go But wait a minute.
Speaker 5 (12:32):
You saw the Colin Farrell movie and left in the
middle to go to McDonald's, and you still went back
to see the rest of the movie.
Speaker 12 (12:40):
I had never left the movie before. I felt that
I don't want to waste my.
Speaker 9 (12:43):
Money, like yeah, but the fact that when you walked
back and it was it was equally as bad as so.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Funny yeah wow.
Speaker 12 (12:50):
So yeah, Cloud out List. The other one was just
so it was just the true, true, not good.
Speaker 5 (12:55):
I left, Yeah, I can't get on Colin Farrell though
he's the penguin.
Speaker 6 (12:58):
Hmmm, oh he's so good anyway, Thanks Roberto, What do
you call a Mexican with a Robberto?
Speaker 4 (13:05):
What?
Speaker 7 (13:06):
Roberto?
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Didn't your son walk out of a movie?
Speaker 11 (13:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (13:11):
It was this past year Terrifier three.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Oh yes, yeah, oh, everyone walked out of that.
Speaker 13 (13:16):
Eleven people walked out during an opening screening of Terrifier
three last night, with one audience member also being sick.
Viewers are warned they might need first aid after watching
this disgusting new horror film.
Speaker 9 (13:29):
Yeah, no, they want the big group and they all
walked out.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
Was this the movie where people would go sit in
the theater with a mask on?
Speaker 6 (13:36):
Or now this is the one with the clown. We
watched the scene in my studio. Remember it was tough
to watch for you even Yeah, it's just unnecessary.
Speaker 8 (13:45):
It's slaughter.
Speaker 14 (13:46):
Yeah, oh my god, I just saw a Terrifia three.
I was so scared. I had to run out of
the theater, jump in my car and drive to the
next street Ova, where I puked in thorn Bush.
Speaker 5 (14:03):
There's really nothing cooler than our talk packers A long,
big time.
Speaker 6 (14:08):
This is an interesting topic because there's some real surprises
here from our listeners.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
Real surprises.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
Okay, Lisen, when you don't hate me forever, I know
I'm gonna lose my girl power card for this one
but most hated movie, The Notebook.
Speaker 11 (14:23):
I just I can't.
Speaker 14 (14:24):
I can't.
Speaker 7 (14:25):
I don't hear what she wants. Just please just enough enough.
Speaker 8 (14:30):
Oh my god, that's that hurts me.
Speaker 5 (14:33):
Yeah, when it comes to the Notebook, I'm one of
the girls, totally.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Yeah, if you're a bird, I'm a bird. Okay, like
what like that?
Speaker 15 (14:41):
I mean, Noah is just like a lover boy.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
I just yeah, no, I don't. I don't get that
at all.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Yeah, he built the house for her.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Oh my god. I love the Notebook. I thought it
was great, very beautiful.
Speaker 16 (14:53):
I know I'm gonna catch heat to this, but I
don't get the hype over Titanic. I just remember in
the movie theater, just waiting for it to be over,
and a song kept playing the old lady with the
necklace and then the shocker of an ending.
Speaker 8 (15:11):
I have to agree with her.
Speaker 14 (15:12):
I didn't.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
I didn't really like it.
Speaker 9 (15:14):
Either, Like I just it was there were so much
type and it was like, okay, whatever.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
You know, the weird thing.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
The only reason I liked the movie is I like
Billy Zane, Like he's just this strange character in real life,
and in that movie, he couldn't have.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Been more strange.
Speaker 15 (15:28):
I spent my whole life watching like thirty minutes here
and there in like T and T or TBS, And
finally last year it was on Netflix and I watched
it and I'm kind of there. I'm like, it was fine,
it wasn't. I don't like, why would she throw away
the eighty million dollar necklace old grandma?
Speaker 7 (15:44):
Like that's mean.
Speaker 5 (15:46):
Even the special effects weren't that good when you think
of it was the nineties, you know.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
The shift like tilting upwards. It looked so fake.
Speaker 6 (15:54):
It really did look I just don't understand why she
couldn't pull him.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Up, Yeah, give him some room on the day.
Speaker 15 (16:00):
And then she's pining over the guy that she lost
her for Joanny to after knowing him for two days.
And then she's like phill at ninety five, like it's
timing on.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
Sorry, good morning, everybody.
Speaker 17 (16:09):
So my husband and I are big Adam Sandler's fans,
and back in twenty nineteen, we saw that Adam Sandler's
had a movie on It's like's called Uncut Gems. Oh yeah,
and just to let you know, it is the worst
movie we have ever seen. And I said, and I'm
so optimistic. I was said, hold on, it's Adam Saunders.
Speaker 6 (16:29):
It will be good.
Speaker 17 (16:30):
We finished the movie and we looked at each other
and I said, sorry for wasting time.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
See, I loved I liked it too.
Speaker 8 (16:39):
I did too. It wasn't my favorite Adam Saylor movie,
but it was okay.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
Was the actress Megan Fox's girlfriend in the movie.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
No, it wasn't mean it was. I'll look it up
and I'm were talking about. I loved it. I thought
it was great to see Adam in a serious role.
Speaker 8 (16:53):
Absolutely.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Wait, Julia Fox, No, I loved his appart Fox as
Julia was Jullea Fox.
Speaker 15 (17:00):
Remember she was like, I was an uncab, uncut job.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
Movie was she in cutchb I love this topic, just
bashing movies.
Speaker 11 (17:14):
The recent horrible movie I saw was the movie Trap
with Josh Hartnett. But we did actually watch the entire movie,
the absolute worst movie. And I'm showing my age here.
We went to the theater and we saw Howard the Duck.
My sister and I and we literally walked out. That
(17:36):
was such a terrible movie.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
I liked Trap.
Speaker 8 (17:40):
It looks right now, Okay, I liked it, but I
thought that the trailer was better than the movie.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Yes, definitely.
Speaker 5 (17:45):
Like I watched it two weeks ago finally and watched
it alone, and I'm like, okay, I.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Just waited for it to end.
Speaker 8 (17:51):
Yeah, the trailer was so much better.
Speaker 11 (17:53):
I did like it.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
It was gonna yeah to stay at home and watch it,
like not going to the theaters.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
Thought it was. I agree, it was good for manus.
Speaker 9 (18:02):
I actually went to the theater and.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
Josh Hartnett brought you to the theater.
Speaker 9 (18:07):
Because of the trailer, I thought it was going to
be explosive, and it kind of.
Speaker 8 (18:11):
I don't know it was, although the end was good.
Speaker 7 (18:13):
I thought the end was good.
Speaker 5 (18:14):
The only Josh Hartnett movie I liked him in was
Pearl Harbor with Ben Affleck.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
He was Ben's be He was good.
Speaker 6 (18:20):
He was also in a vampire movie called Thirty Days
of Night I believe, which is very good, one of
the best vampire movies list.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
You went to the theater to see Trap, I did, ow,
What's next?
Speaker 3 (18:29):
Howard?
Speaker 1 (18:30):
You did?
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Got Benny Blanco might actually be the most iconic producer
of all time.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Song producer.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
That is, because, of course there's me and Justin Hey,
his producer Riley from Billy and Lisa in the Morning,
and I'm checking in with you to count down the
top five moments of the week. So Justin took a
minute to put together some songs that Benny Blanco has
and has not produced, and then we put the show
to the test to see if they could tell us
if it was his song or not. And it's number
two tone baby time though, I'll be there.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
That's a big time.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
So I think some of these you will be like,
yes he did, but some you're not sure. So I'll
play a song you tell me yes or no. Did
Benny Blanco produce this hit song It's that easy good
you feel good?
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Billy Lisa, you're up first. Did Benny Blanco produce this lest?
Speaker 5 (19:20):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Yes, Yes he did. He produced all of Katie.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
Perry's big hits around that time, twenty ten, twenty eleven.
Speaker 8 (19:29):
That's the best song ever.
Speaker 6 (19:31):
Yeah for sure? You ready, Bill, Benny Blanco? Did he
have a hand in producing this song?
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Hello? No, it's me. Your answer is no.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
My answer is No.
Speaker 6 (19:44):
He did not produce Adele's Hello You're on the board there,
but there you go next up winning Benny Blanco, mega producer.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
Did he produce this? Yes?
Speaker 5 (19:57):
He did?
Speaker 3 (19:58):
You sure I am.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Yes he did. Britney Spears' Circus. Wow, you guys are
crushing this. Let's go pretty good? All right? Least here
we go round two?
Speaker 3 (20:13):
He did? You're saying yes, saying yes?
Speaker 15 (20:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Not only did it produce it, he helped write it
as well.
Speaker 8 (20:20):
That was a monster hit too.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Yeah, yeah, pretty good? All right?
Speaker 9 (20:24):
Bill, wake up in the morning feeling like people, I'm
gonna hit this city.
Speaker 5 (20:35):
Okay, here's the story here. I feel that point in
the game where you're trying to set me up.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
It's not a competition game.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
I'm gonna say no.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
You're gonna say no, that would be.
Speaker 6 (20:51):
Incorrect. He did produce that song, as well as many
other Kesha songs.
Speaker 8 (20:55):
Question how much money does he have?
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Many? Many millions?
Speaker 15 (20:58):
But you know what's funny, it's way less than you.
Well on paper they say it's only fifty million. What
And I'm thinking he has to have like two hundred.
Speaker 8 (21:07):
Isn't the writing is where you make the money.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
Yeah, I think I think when he's right, I think
it's more than fifty million.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Doesn't it say fifty when you look it up?
Speaker 14 (21:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (21:15):
Fifty million.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Yeah, Now he's got that Selena money. Yes, yes he.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Does, Yes he does.
Speaker 6 (21:21):
All right, win Did he produce this Benny Blanco? So
I'm gonna say no, he did not produce Pharrell's Get Lucky?
It was produced by Pharrell Daft Punk. All right, here
(21:41):
we go round three?
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Uh, Lisa.
Speaker 8 (21:45):
Show he did?
Speaker 14 (21:47):
He did?
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Like, yes he did.
Speaker 8 (21:50):
He did a lot of their songs. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (21:52):
He told the story of that of that song. He
had written it and Maroon five was going to release
another single and he went to the record label and said,
I think you want to do this one and they
were hesitant, but they did it because Adam Levine liked it.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
And it became their biggest hit. So wow, there you go.
Speaker 6 (22:07):
All right, Bill, here we go. Listen closely. Benny Blanco.
Did he produce this song? This was a big hit
in the twenty tens.
Speaker 5 (22:20):
I'm gonna say yes, that's got Benny's name all over it.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
No it doesn't. He's so confident his name is nowhere near.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
Yeah he didn't you yeahs a Jason and he produced
it himself.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
No, he had someone else. What do you want? It's
not about them, it's about Benny Blanco.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
Okay, yeah, not in on that one, all right?
Speaker 1 (22:47):
When he here we go.
Speaker 6 (22:47):
Did Bennie Blanco produce this hit song? Yes, your answer
is yes, yes, that would be Whinnie incorrect. He did
not produce I love it Iconopop and Charlie X. They
tell you work with though it's a tricky game.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Yeah, yeah, okay. Concerts they did, Yeah, they may have.
It's probably the last thing they ever did. You know
what you may be right?
Speaker 6 (23:22):
All right, quickly, these songs produced by Benny Blanco are not.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
You have to tell me Les.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
Brianna.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Yes he did. He did five for five.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
And another fun fact about that song. He produced it,
wrote it, had the demo for it. They sent it
to Eminem.
Speaker 6 (23:46):
Eminem did not respond, Paul Rosenberg's manager for for months
and months and months, so they gave it to Rihanna
rand I loved it.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
She recorded it.
Speaker 6 (23:53):
When Rihanna was recording the song, they got an Benny
Blanco got an email from Eminem saying, hey, I want
to do that song, and he's like, you never respond
and Rihanna has it.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Yeah, sorry too late in Rihanna not Emine.
Speaker 15 (24:08):
You know what he said it on that thing is
that they write songs with Rihanna in mind, as anyone does,
because you want her to have a radio hit.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Yep, yep, all right, Bill, here we go.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
That's definitely not Benny Blanc.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
Ooh ooh, yeah, you are correct.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Here you go, Billy give Me the Money Baby.
Speaker 6 (24:30):
Yeah, yeah, well that song was right around you know
that era. Yeah, twenty ten is when Benny started to emerge.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
So there you go. All right, last winning to Benny
Blanco produced this big hit right here. Yes, that would
be correct.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
Hey guys, welcome back Saturday. It's producer Riley from Billy
and Lisa in the Morning. Thanks for spending this hour
with us. And we're finally at the number one moment
of the week where we had Joe Kota come into
the studio because he's a local guy who just had
his dreams come true. So he wrote a short story
on a Reddit thread back during COVID and is now
(25:19):
being picked up to be made into a movie with
Sydney Sweeney. Local guy who grew up listening to the show.
We have so much fun with stuff like this. Congrats Joe.
Speaker 5 (25:28):
We've got a segment we affectionately call on the Billy
and Lisa Morning Show when Malden kids hit it big
and joke is now, is it Joe, Cody Kota? I
was gonna say, if it's Cody, you've got to change
it to Kota because you're a big time author.
Speaker 9 (25:46):
Now.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Uh oh, Joe Cotay's coming.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
Okay, So Joe, you wrote a short First of all,
you were a school teacher in Dartmouth, Mass Right, yes.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
And what do you change there?
Speaker 14 (25:57):
So?
Speaker 7 (25:57):
I am an esp in English class and I do
some academic support for some specialized classes.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Okay, but you're from Malden.
Speaker 7 (26:05):
I am from Alden. Went to the Malden School System
MS two thousand and eight.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (26:09):
Justin went to school in Malden. But it was in
a garage. I don't know if you know that story.
Speaker 7 (26:14):
Oh no, yeah, I've been in there.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Oh really, you've probably been there teaching.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
He was there as Yeah, i'lloe.
Speaker 7 (26:22):
But a right we all do.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Yeah, look where he is now? His dream job. I
love it.
Speaker 5 (26:27):
Okay, So Joe, you wrote a short story. Now when
did you write the short story?
Speaker 7 (26:31):
It was the end of twenty twenty, during all the
COVID stuff if you remember that.
Speaker 5 (26:35):
Oh so, like all the other superstars that exploded during COVID,
you're one of those superstars.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Yeah wow, okay, so what is the story about? Quickly?
Speaker 7 (26:44):
Yeah, so this drifter woman she sees a photo of
a long missing girl. She looks the family up and
sees that they have a lot of money, and she
thinks I could be that girl, and so she goes
to the house with the intent to rob them, and
it goes really well, nothing bad happens.
Speaker 8 (27:01):
Wait, so is she pretending to be the long lost daughter?
Speaker 1 (27:03):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (27:05):
So good?
Speaker 8 (27:06):
That intrigued And you posted this on Reddit?
Speaker 3 (27:09):
I did, Wow, have you signed up for Lisa's book
Club yet?
Speaker 2 (27:13):
No?
Speaker 7 (27:14):
I want to hear about that.
Speaker 8 (27:15):
Well, I think we need to have you.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Oh I love that.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Yeah, my gosh.
Speaker 5 (27:18):
Yeah, Well everybody's gonna hear about it. Because here's the deal,
this short story of yours. Somehow, actress Sidney Sweeney got
a hold of it.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
Now, how did that happen?
Speaker 7 (27:31):
Yeah, so about a year ago, it was like four
years after I wrote this story, I got a message
on Reddit from a man claiming to be a Hollywood producer,
and I ignored him. I didn't think it was real,
and he messaged me again. I rejected him, and he said, listen, man,
you're gonna want to get on the phone with me.
(27:51):
And so we got on a zoom call.
Speaker 5 (27:53):
I saw that he was real, and now here we are,
and he represents Sidney Sweeney.
Speaker 7 (27:59):
No, no, no, no, I think I'm not sure on
the production side of it, but I think I would
imagine it just got sent out and she read it
and enjoyed it and agreed to be attached to it.
Speaker 5 (28:10):
Now we're talking about the same Sydney Sweeney from Euphoria
and from The White Lotus.
Speaker 7 (28:15):
Yes, I mean, I hope.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
So who's now your pal?
Speaker 2 (28:19):
Well?
Speaker 7 (28:19):
Yeah, matter, no, no, I would love to though. She's phenomenal.
Speaker 5 (28:23):
But this gets better because the person writing the movie
is the same person who wrote Forrest Gump.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (28:34):
Yeah, oh my surreal Yeah, pretty good movie.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
And another big movie, right.
Speaker 7 (28:41):
Star is born one. Yeah, there's a whole bunch, I know.
So all these articles that my friends and family are
sending me. Obviously there's there's my stupid face next to Sydney,
which is awesome. But yeah, the Eric Roth thing is
equally as exciting. He's incredible.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
So now do your students think you're the cool thing
on earth now? Because I mean, you know, young people
love Sydney Sweeney, I mean euphoria.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
You kidding me?
Speaker 7 (29:05):
Yeah, it's it's been wild walking down the hallways.
Speaker 5 (29:08):
Now.
Speaker 7 (29:09):
You don't think they thought I was cool before?
Speaker 14 (29:10):
Really?
Speaker 3 (29:12):
The first thing I thought when you walked in just
oozing school is cool? This guy's scool.
Speaker 7 (29:18):
No, it's been fun walking on the hallways. Actually, last
week I heard a group of kids say, Hey, that's
the guy like just say hello, I'm still your teacher.
Speaker 5 (29:28):
Yeah, So are you invited back to Malden to like
speak now to the classes or.
Speaker 7 (29:33):
Oh no, I haven't spoken anyone to anyone yet from Malton,
but I would Yeah, I would love to you. My
time in MHS was was phenomenal.
Speaker 8 (29:40):
Yeah, have they given you a timeline? Like when will
this movie come out? Do you think?
Speaker 2 (29:44):
No?
Speaker 7 (29:44):
I don't know. Probably probably a couple of years. I
don't know.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Yeah, Now do you do you even have to go
to the ATM anymore? Listen?
Speaker 7 (29:53):
I'm still living on a teacher's budget.
Speaker 9 (29:56):
But I love how this like will inspire kids like
who you're teaching to just keep writing because you never
know what's.
Speaker 8 (30:03):
Going to happen.
Speaker 7 (30:04):
So I just spoke to we have a podcast at
Dartmouth High and I was just telling the kids, and
I know it sounds so obvious and so silly, but
it's true. You just have to write, just keep going forward.
It's so easy to look at that paragraph you have
and hate it and keep going. Get a hundred pages
of crap down and then we can figure it out
from there, and then don't be afraid to share it
(30:24):
anything you're creating. Just get it out.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Well.
Speaker 5 (30:27):
The fact is, I mean, you mentioned this happened for
you during COVID and the pandemic, but the fact is
the pandemic also got a lot of people reading that
hadn't been reading for a long time.
Speaker 7 (30:37):
The amount of luck that I had on this right,
Like the timing was perfect. If you go onto that
form where I posted on Reddit, there's just so there
were so many stories. So the fact that mine had
gained some traction enough to be at there, it's on
like the I think it's currently the top most liked
post all time on that particular forum. Really, but like
(30:57):
you said, I think it's just caught some traction and
that's how my now manager saw it.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
Or do you have any other short stories floating around?
Speaker 7 (31:06):
I mean, uh oh, we're already working on next one.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
I'm sure you are.
Speaker 6 (31:12):
They so they bought the script, right, and are you
executive producing the movie?
Speaker 7 (31:16):
I am yeah, you have final Say no, I don't
know about that.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
So they can mess around with your script if they want.
Speaker 7 (31:23):
Oh yeah, and I am totally.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
Fine with that.
Speaker 8 (31:26):
Do you get a cut if the movie does well?
Speaker 7 (31:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (31:29):
Yeah, yeah, Joe, you're our friend.
Speaker 7 (31:35):
People.
Speaker 8 (31:35):
He's got a good deal.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
I grew up in these cameras. Does that count.
Speaker 7 (31:39):
Yeah. I mean I've been listening to you since I
was a kid, So we're good.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
Oh oh, well, thank you for that.
Speaker 5 (31:44):
Thank you for that.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
Don't feel the need to throw anything my way. I'm
happy to have done it. But that is great. So
you're already pushing a couple of video and the short stories.
Let me ask you this. If it weren't Sidney Sweeney,
who would you have played a part?
Speaker 7 (31:57):
Oh my gosh, man, what a question. My beautiful girlfriend
over there in the next room. No, I don't know. Honestly,
I would have been so happy if this was some
bad TV movie, you know what I mean, just the
fact that anyone is even interested at all. I would
(32:18):
have been so happy for that. So the fact that
that it is where it is is it's just well surreal.
Speaker 5 (32:23):
I mean, I can look back to so many years ago,
the first time we had Ben Mazerick on the show,
and then all of a sudden, Ben. I don't think
Ben Mezerick has a book that hasn't been made into
a movie.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
So you're the next Ben.
Speaker 7 (32:35):
That's the goal we are. We're hoping that, Like I said,
obviously I have another story in the works where we're
going to keep this going. But I'm hoping that one
day I am the one who's adapting the stories.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
But you got an advanced.
Speaker 7 (32:48):
It's common.
Speaker 5 (32:51):
What's the first thing you're going to do for yourself?
That's what people always say, do something for yourself. So
what's the first thing this Malden kid teaching at Dartmouth
High School is going to do for He's looking through
the windows, looking through the windows?
Speaker 2 (33:03):
Are you thinking ring, No, Well that's gonna do it
for the top five moments for this Saturday. Ending off
on a high note, thanks for spending this hour with us, again.
I'm producer Riley from Billy and Lisa in the Morning,
and just to remind her that we're going to do
the double play flyaway all next week. We're going to
give you the Artist of the Day at seven ten
and you have to listen for back to back songs
by that artist. Be Collar twenty five and you will
(33:26):
win a trip to Universal Studios. Oh my god, I'm jealous.
But in the meantime, the Kiss Top thirty Countdown is
on next. Billy and Justin are giving you the biggest
songs that you need to hear, so stay with us.
Speaker 1 (33:38):
Have a good weekend, guys,
